ASOIAF Christmas Calendar
Day XXIII
What are our dear favorite doing for Christmas ?
This idea is from @full-moon-so-bright !
Targaryen
Daenerys and Viserys never really celebrated Christmas. Viserys has few memories of celebrating it with his parents, Daenerys a little more of celebrating it with Ser Willem, and then nothing. But after being taken in by Illyrio Mopatis, they have a little party that looks like it.
Martell
No Martell really celebrates a traditional Christmas, it's more just a very big family celebration where everyone gets together. Oberyn’s eight kids are there too.
Greyjoy
The Greyjoys don't really do anything special for Christmas. Balon is on bad terms with everyone, so few people spend the holidays with them. Asha-Yara therefore always celebrates the same Christmas: eating turkey and watching ‘the holiday’ (she is in love with Kate Winslet.)
Arryn
Jon had always said he would never lie to his children, even about Santa Claus. But after seeing Robert's (Robyn) big eyes full of Christmas magic, he doesn't have the heart and lets him believe as much as he wants. Christmas holidays are probably the only ones where Lisa shows a little joy
Tully
Edmure sends beautiful greeting cards to everyone he knows. He always goes through the north and the Eyrie to visit his nieces and nephews and spoil them with gifts. Bryden also comes sometimes, dressed as Santa
Stark
The Starks always have a big party for Christmas, with a gigantic tree and a mountain of presents. This is very important to Ned and therefore it has become important to Catelyn. They do a lot of Christmas activities with the kids (decorations, hot chocolate, cookies) and Ned always tries to include Jon and Theon, which Catelyn hates.
Tyrell
The Tyrells always organizes a very large traditional celebration which lasts several days and is very expensive. The holidays are becoming more and more grandiose to the point that for many it becomes ridiculous. Olenna always makes sure that part of the reception takes place in the greenhouse to show everyone her winter roses
Lannister
The Lannisters always spend the 24th on their own, at least since Joanna's death. Tywin often works on the 24th and finds celebrating it stupid. Tyrion spends time with his friends. Jaime never stays far from Cersei. They all meet up with family on the 25' and that’s often where things go wrong
Baratheon
Robert spent Christmas with his wife and kids, probably drinking too much wine and silently fighting with Cersei because he send gift to all of his children. Stannis still tries to make Shireen believe in Santa because Selyse asked him to. Davos makes Santa every year, and Shireen recognizes him every year but never tells a soul. Renly spends time with Loras and Edric, having their own little party on the 24 and opening their gift before going to bed because Loras has to go to his family on the 25th and Renly is not invited.

need winds so bad. imagine jon snow, freshly resurrected, cosmically haunted by kooky uncle bryden, getting messiah-ed by the free folk, battling bisexuality (and failing!), realizing melisandre burnt a kid to bring him back, the watch is in tatters, theon greyjoy crawling up to the wall with a girl who is apparently not arya stark. and to round it all off in walks the shambling corpse of catelyen tully with a crown. jon would fuck off forever beyond the wall.

A Stark She Remains [17/?]
Fandom: ASoIaF Characters: Robb, Catelyn Stark, Brynden Tully, Lady Maege Mormont, Lord Grover and Lord Cerwyn. Warnings: None Note: Consider a reblog
On AO3
Robb glares at the messenger.
He shouldn't, but he cannot help it. He is angry, his people are complaining and his mother is anxious with worry. "What do you mean Cersei Lannister is dead?"
The man squirms, whether it is because of the glare or by the very large Direwolf who is also doing the best approximation of a glare. "A message arrived to Riverrun, your Grace. Lord Tyrion is regent for King Tommen."
It would not be Kingly to scowl at the poor sod who his uncle decided to send with the message, nor glare him anymore, he is sure the man will cry if he continues.
"I see," he says. He does not, in fact, see. "Lord Tyrion will receive my men and my Lady mother, good to know. Dismissed."
The man flees.
He turns towards his grand-uncle, his mother, Lady Mormont, Lord Glover and Cerwyn. "What do we make of this news?"
"That either the Gods are angry and on your side," Bryden Tully is the first to speak. "Or that someone is doing us all a favor and getting rid of Lannisters without bloodshed."
"I am concerned for your sisters," his mother says. "But you know that. However, I will not deny that I feel more at ease knowing Cersei Lannister is dead."
Everyone turns to look at his mother. Instead of apologizing, she lifts her chin and there is a glint of something in her eyes. "Can you tell me that my daughter would have been safe if Cersei Lannister had not died? No, you cannot. For Cersei Lannister would have done anything in her power to deny us your sister. Girls may not be as important as sons to some of you," she glares. "But they are to me. I want my daughters back."
Lady Maege nods at her words, he is not surprised. If anything, Lady Mormont would understand his mother. The men, save his grand uncle squirm and look away.
His mother sighs. "I will not take part in the negotiations, I am aware. But I just want my daughter back. I want to see her, see if she hale and whole. Surely, that is and should be, a mother's prerogative. Only Sansa can tell us anything about Arya, with the truth, anyway."
"My niece speaks truly, the girls should come home. They need to heal." Bryden capitulates.
He nods slowly. "And what about Stannis's message?"
"If he is right, he is the King." Lord Cerwyn speaks. "But, how to prove it?"
"Aye, those accusations can be done by a jealous and graspin man." Lord Grover adds. "Unless Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister left something in writing, Stannis's words are wind."
"While Stannis does not strike me as one who would speak thusly without base," Brynden's words come slowly. "We cannot dismiss the fact that now even Renly has declared himself a King, house Lannister is in shambles, why shouldn't the Baratheons attempt to sit on that ugly chair?"
Silence.
He can feel his shoulders tense at the thought of having to fight both Stannis and Renly. He shakes his head, his mother is right, his sisters first.

why didn’t hoster or bryden show they or offence or disproval over Ned stark settling in his son and raising him true born and swaying him next to Cateyln on the Dias (apart from when the king came). Surely that’s seen as a slight against Cateyln and House Tully? And hoster is proud and stubborn and cats his favourite. It seems odd he had no reaction. Would Tywin have?
Eddard isn't elevating Jon over Robb, he isn't threatening the succession of the children borne of Eddard and Catelyn. When it comes to bastards, the big fear is threatening the succession and the alliance - marriages were seen as transactional affairs in dynastic societies. This isn't being threatened by Eddard bringing Jon into the family - it's always made quite clear that Robb is the heir.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

Alicent Hightower Tully / Ned Stark
I'm thinking of doing a reincarnation fic with Alicent as a Tully married to Ned Stark. I don't know, I saw the Rings of Power and the actor for Elrond is the actor playing young Ned. And he is adorable! Alicent is scared, she is the heir to Hoster Tully (who only has daughters) and her uncle refuses to take a wife, have children and do her duty. Bryden needs to think about her duties to her house, something I want to highlight in this fic. What do you think?
I mean let's explore
1.The religion of the seven.
Alicent in the forest of the Gods.
Alicent with her two daughters, Sansa and Ayra.
The whole Lannister and Targaryen mess.
My God, Alicent could even cause the religious revolt to drive the Lannisters out of power.

It's to contrast that they are literally the only Tully ever to gain my respect (and Bryden, but he's the black sheep of his generation)
All the active Tullys having muppet names during the Dance of the Dragons is a favorite Easter egg of mine. Like what was GRMM on? So unserious haha

10+66 for any Game of Thrones ship of your choice :D
10. Airport/Travel AU +  66. It’s Not You, It’s My Enemies with Jon Connington x Brynden Tully
Tired from a cheery yet loud family gathering Brynden brings his nice with her family to the airport. After they boarded, Brynden feels the strong urge for a vitalizing coffee. So he happens to sit next to a pretty redhead stranger in the airport’s bar. On a sofa of the bar area snores a young man with bue dyed hair.
When the stanger sighs about “wild kids” under his breath, Brynden catches this small comment to caress it into a longer conversation. From idle small talk they quickly ramble about deeper topics, with Brynden casually but stretegically dropping hints of him falling apart with his brother due Brynden’s interest in men. First it seems the stranger wouldn’t notice. At last Brynden tells the stranger about a laid back future since his life is getting calmer. “That would be nice.” The stranger comments with in a wavering tone. “It can be nice.” Brynden hands him back.
The announcement for boarding to a log distance flight echoes through the airport. The young men scrapes himself from the sofa, the stranger smiles apologetically to Brynden. A bit dissapointed yet old enough to live with the taste of bitterness on his tongue, Brynden bids a short farewell. About to finish his now his too cold, therefore unenjoyable coffee, Brynden suddenly gets jerked back by a hand on his shoulder and kissed by the stranger. “I wish I could.” the stranger whispers into his hear. “Name’s Jon.”
For the last scene the perspective switches. Aegon knows when his guardian, father figure?, wants to be left alone, so they first don’t talk. But when the plane starts rising, Aegon quietly apologizes: “I’m sorry you’re doing all this just for me…” Jon first remains quiet, then huffs, and finally ruffles through Aegon’s hair.

At least a few of the options I could maybe see the rationalization or possible appeal (even if I’m against it)
I refuse to subject my favorite Tully (Bryden “Blackfish” Tully) to being anywhere near Tywin Lannister lmao
Day Five: Which is worse of all these non-canon ships in ASOIAF?
PREVIOUS ROUNDS:
Day One: Tie of 25.5% between Sansa and Jon and Aemond and Lucerys
Day Two: Brandon and Ned and Lyanna and Benjen at 33.3%
Day Three: Sansa and Sandor at 29%
Day Four: Catelyn and Edmure ELIMINATED at 48.4%

A Stark She Remains [23/?]
Fandom: ASoIaF Character: Catelyn Stark Summary: Catelyn's heart feels permanently stuck in her throat. Notes/Warnings: None
Read @ AO3
Catelyn's heart feels permanently stuck in her throat.
From the very moment they crossed the citygates, she has grown tense and worried. Besides her, her uncle maintains a look of calm detachment, and while part of her wants to scream in frustation, she understands why Bryden Tully must keep that face.
He's the one who will handle negotiations.
It is a bitter pill to swallow for her, but the mother heart of hers tells her to calm down, she will get her daughters one way or another. Her uncle had assured her they would not be leaving the city without Sansa and Arya.
Oh she aches to hold her daughters once more, she's so close. So very close. So, she bites down the bitterness at knowing her son will not heed her council, fine, she can live with that as long as she can hold her daughters in her arms once more.
There are men at the gate of the Red Keep, trays of bread, salt and wine can be seen in the hands of servants, and her hands shake. The leader steps forward, "Lord Tyrion bid us to welcome you, and to offer guest rights."
She exchanges a wary look with her uncle, behind them, the men of the North shift and grumble. Bryden breaks bread first, she follows and so do the rest of Robb's vanguard. The man nods, dismisses the servants and welcomes them into the Keep.
But it does not take long for something to go wrong, soon enough there is a harried looking servant rushing towards the man, "My Lord, Lord Tyrion is dead!"
She inhales sharply.
Oh this is a disaster. If Tyrion Lannister is dead, then who will take over the negotiations? And where are her daughters?
The man blanches, and looks like he's going to faint. "I… my Lords, my Lady, forgive me, this is…"
"A terrible thing to happen today of all days?" Her uncle snarks. The man is still pale, but he nods. "Then speak with King Tommen, and quick. I wish to see my grand nieces, make sure that they are well."
The man looks at her, she stares at him. She will not be cowed, she's a mother of wolf, she wants her cubs back. In the end, the man nods, "I will have a servant escort the Lady Stark to Lady Sansa…"
"And Arya, where is my Arya?"
The man says nothing and she feels her knees shake. Surely, they did not killed her daughter too?
"Take the Lady Stark to the Lady Sansa," he commands a servant. "I will speak with his grace."
She follows the servant in a daze, until something inside her breaks. "Where is my daughter?" She looks around. "Sansa? Sansa sweetling, where are you?"
"Mamma?!" She hears her daughter and pauses. Then runs towards her voice, "Mamma, I am here!"
She arrives at the door and property be damned, she throws it upon. And she sees her daughter, her Sansa sitting in her nightgown, eyes wide and she trembles. Her daughter. Her sweet girl is just a few steps away from her. She eyes grow cloudy with tears and dignity be damned, she runs towards her girl, takes her into her arms and they both weep.

Do you think Tully diplomacy suffered after Cateyln, bryden and Lysa both left riverrun? If it was mandatory for cateyln to be lady when she was a pre teen and Edmure would’ve been a child, does that just leave Hoster Tully to placate the riverlands? Do you think it hindered it or that tully’s had a better grip on their vassals after their ally robert came to power
I think Hoster Tully actually did a fairly remarkable job keeping the Riverlands in line, all things considered. We don't hear of any Bracken-Blackwood private feuds, we don't hear of bandits preying on weak central overlordship, he seems to have done a pretty darn good job.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

Sadly my OCD is bothering me, as I gotten a spoiler by one of my favorites (if not most favorite) character, so I don't feel connented as it much anymore, can't even really think of it, especially not that character.
But I don't want it to ruin it for me, I intend to find it a way to find peace with it.
Okay so I'v been interensted in a "Song of Ice and Fire". It's want Game of Thrones was based of, the series ended on a really bad note, the problem being that in starting season 5 (I think) it stated differing away from the contenct of the books, and fans didn't like the new story they did, in season 7 they ran out of contencts with the book, since the Author hadn't released the next one, since 2011 . Problem being is that he showed new characters and new sub plots, and from the start he doens't plain out how the story goes-he knows the ending, but not all to get the characters to go form point A to point B, adding new characters and sub plots just made the story more complicated, anyway back to GOT (for now), so with that, they no longer had books to work with, GRRM did however give them pointers on what he's planing to do, the primarly reasons why fans hated season 8/ending was that they placing was too fast, GRRM agrees saying that wanted the show to have 10 seasons, but D & D wanted to end in season 7, I think because they wanted to move on to other stuff.
Oky back to the book, the reason why I like is the story, basic story is this: There are 7 kingdoms, and the person who sits in the Iron throne rules all of the 7 kingdoms, he dies. And since his linage is put into question by a couple of people (which is true), means that they are self proclaimed kings, who to sit on the iron thron or just wants their to be their own kingd, this being, Joffey (his offical heir), Robb (who wants the North to be free), Stannis (who think he the heir since he is the second elderest brother, as Robert's's offical heir is not actually his kid.), Renly (who just really thinks he would be a good king), and Balon Greyjoy (who wants to bring back the Iron island's raiding days…so yes he's a basically a viking LOL).
Also Daenerys wants to go seven kingdoms, to bring take back the Iron Throne, since Robert destoyed her kingdom (Targaryen), and the Iron Throne.
There is other subplots, however I'm still reading Feast of Crows, so I don't relaly know how to explain it.
Also the books have actual names, that had been switched around to make it fanansty, and I really liked it, examples: Eddard (Edward), Catelyn (Catherine), Jeyne (Jane), as you can see thier is actualy fantasy names (Daenerys), and actual names (Robert)
Also detailed fictional religions, as as someone with a special interest in religion, I LOVE this! Like it's based off actual religions, which is cool but it's so more deep, so it's not like "Christianity but with a new hat", but like a religion on it's own, but you still see the resemblance.
Also, I like to bring contect from my own interest, with your own stuff, I see you have Asexual headcanons, there is a character whom I headcanon as Asexual: Bryden Tully, he was the uncle to one of the POV's character, and Great uncle to 3 of them.
Like the Middle Ages, whe was expected to be married, but despite being older still was not married, his elder brother had complained that he had offered him multiple woman to marry, but he declined all of them, something that Bryden Tully is amused by, as he's still upset by it, there is fans discusions on rather or not he's gay, straight but doesn't want to marry, or Asexual, as I said I headcanon him as asexual (and Aromantic)
It's also possible to headcanon Stannis as asexual, as only has sex with his wife once a year (granted though he doesn't have a happy marriage) doesn't allow brothels on dragonstone, wanted to banned brothels in the 7 kingdoms once he became king, but wasconvinced that it would make him unpopular, though it is implied that he is having sex with Melisandre, personally though I don't headcanon him as asexual (I think he has a low libal), though like I said there is a room for interpretation.
Varys (the character I gotten upset by the spoiler) is canonally asexual in the show, having said he didn't feel attraction even before he was a eunuch, nothing in the book (as of now?) said anything on Vary's attraction of lack of attention, so I don't know anything on his book sexuality, though the lack of saying Varys's book asexuality, makes me think it was a show only thing.
HEY TUMBLR TELL ME ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL INTEREST! I DONT CARE IF YOU REBLOG THIS AND DO IT (in tags or not), OR MAKE A POST AND TAG ME IN IT! TELL ME ABOUT SHOWS, BOOKS, MOVIES, COMICS, OCS, A N Y T H I N G! I WANNA HEAR ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL INTERESTS!
