Finally guys after all the sneak peeks… my Cassandra Cain and Mia Mizoguchi Short Story! CASS AND MAPS!

I’ve been posting it on my instagram all this month and last week on my twitter but i had totally forgotten to post it in here, for 2 months there wasn’t a day i wasn’t thinking on them and i would have loved with all my heart to do something even longer but… building up a story, thinking over and over the layouts, drawing and coloring with this level of detail all on my own is really hard and i can’t but feel guilty of taking this long for just this 7 pages, but as little that is, with all my heart i just really hope you like them :’) , I tried to put many little easter eggs and references but i will mention some at the end to not spoil your reading.

Okay, so some of the esster eggs:

PAGE 1: that Adam West Batman & Robin climbing a building shot which actually came to me from Bruno Redondo’s cover of Nightwing actually , and the rest of the panels hugely inspired by Batman The Animated Series!

PAGE 2: a portrait of Niccolai Tapes( The Mad Monk) on his early years and at his side Matt Wagner himself! , then a newspaper with a Batman based on his first appearances and a reference to the events from Batman vs the Mad Monk by Matt Wagner, and then ofc all the room filled with a bunch of objects taken exactly from the same pages of Matt when he draw The Monk’s Castle on the same book. and finally the book of Dracula for the same reason ;) , all this layout was inspired by one of the most iconic pages from American Pax by Frank Quitely

PAGE 3: all the vampires were based physically on Voldermort’s Death Eaters! but also the girl in black is Dala! Mad Monk’s more loyal acolyte which in the book she always desired to become a vampire but never could! , but from left to right, Barty Crocuh Jr. , Dala as Bellatrix, Peter Pettigrew, The Monk was “Voldemort” , then Snape, Lucius, Narcissa and Fenrir Greyback, and that last panel was a BLADE reference 🙂‍↕️🙌

PAGE 4: this whole Cass yellow panels with speedlines were supposed to represent the same kind of panels that Damion Scott drew when Cass was moving really fast in her Batgirl run, the whole layout was based on a page of Jamal Campbell from his Green Arrow run

PAGE 5: shot referencing the killing joke joker and batgirl cover, you can see a “Red sun” mode on the bat-flashlight apart from the Ultra Violet setting, them. Maps bites the Monk as she used to do a couple times in Gotham Academy, and Cass final attack is a reference to one of the moves she does in her 2000s run to stop the heart beats of a thug , and those circles were inspired by David Aja’s work on his Iron Fist and run!

PAGE 6: the building on the background purposely resembles the Bat ears, the GCPD have the uniforms from BTAS and you can see also Detective Montoya and Jack Ryder interviewing her :), Maps little hearts are taken from Karl Kerschl who used to do them on Gotham Academy a couple times, and finally the Grapple Gun reference from all the time Maps mentioned it on Gotham Academy 🙂‍↕️,ohh and the box of the gift was also the same feom Shadow of the Batgirl when Barbara gives her suit to Cass!

Superman the Animated Series got half the amount of episodes Batman the Animated Series did, but it's just way better. Look at my tierlist so far. Notice how we have almost nothing in E and F tier? Yeah, that's because this show didn't have awful writing. Btas is highly overrated. Forget it. Superman the Animated Series is what we should be talking about. Tim Daly is better than Kevin Conroy, no contest needed. Lois and Jimmy are more fun than Commissioner Gordon and Alfred (at least the versions of them seen on Btas). Hell, everything from S to D tier is worth watching. That's how good this show was. So far, i've seen like 29 episodes. Only three are really bad. That means at least 25 are worth watching. Better odds than any other DCAU show.

Seriously, this is the only DCAU show I would kill to see a revival of. I can think of some episodes. They wouldn't necessarily be canon to the later DCAU shows, but more episodes of this particular show is all I ask. Hell, I'd be fine with an unofficial sequel. One where all the S to D tier episodes still canonically happened, but...idk, maybe a crisis on infinite earths event happened, and the universe changed. That way we can also get my wonder woman show, my batman and robin (jason todd) show, a remixed version of this show, etc. Hell, I think i'm selling!myself on this the more I think of it. So to prove my feelings, i'll tag people. @opossumpal @billybatsonmylove @southernfreakinggothic @conundrumrespeculis @kryptonbabe I can't think of any other blog names right now. But at least I tagged five people.

And some episodes I would want: a follow-up on Maxima and Lobo, something involving Luminus finally becoming one and the same with Doctor Light (like he was honestly destined to be), Bruno Mannheim somehow surviving the nuclear explosion Darkseid abandoned him to die in, but becoming a take on the cyborg superman or something as a result, Darkseid dying during the crisis and a backdoor pilot for that story about Orion and Kalibak, Volcana and Livewire teaming up, etc. See? That's five episodes right there. Proof positive this show needs a revival, asap.

umm opinion on Lamb X Poet???

I don't think it will happen, 1 because the lamb and poet have been fighting FOREVER, 2 because the poet is dating BTA/Bruno, and I don't think he would betray Bruno's trust, especially since Bruno stated how even though he didn't like the poet being hit on/flirted with he said he wasn't going to go crazy unless something happened. I genially dislike Bruno, but I'll give him credit because he's trying to be a heathy boyfriend, and as much as I wish to see him upset, no one deserves to be cheated on. Edit: i was wrong Lamb X poet canon (Poets poly!!!)

lamb, i have to ask a favor, if you see Dorina/Darkened Anon. Kill her. She caused an UNHOLY amount of mental distress to BTA/Bruno, to the point he was terrified of the poet. and i mean shaking and crying and shying away from the poet. She brought up his past: apparently, he's been in 2 abusive relationships before with people named Zila and Vapner. Dorina also seems to have played a big part in his 4 younger sisters' deaths, it seems she started the fire that killed all four while he was away (yes, I read every Dorina related post and all the tags, I need lore) Bruno is still terrified the poets going to be the same as the other two because of Dorina, but it's not as bad now. -🎵

Bruno's origins are murky and hard to pin down. Aside from being Kirk Langstrom's awkward and reclusive son, not much is known about how they met or why. Mostly because I kept trying to come up with an explanation but it was so frustrating I stopped.

He's been with Langstrom for years though, hard to say exactly how long. Kirk raised him in secrecy - he might be fucked up but he did the job well. Bruno never really got a chance to interact with the outside world, save for a few occasions - Kirk was rightfully worried he'd be targeted and hunted down for being what he was.

After the Batman made himself known to the public, and Kirk's obsession with him grew worse, their relationship strained slightly. This of course eventually culminate in the events of The Man Who Would Be Bat, but Bruno never stopped worrying about him. Sure, his father might be able to turn into a blood sucking monstrosity now - but they do love each other.

Needless to say that after Kirk is arrested, Bruno is left alone and afraid. The world he knew came crumbling down on him, and his only way to solve this - in his eyes - was by getting Kirk out of Arkham somehow. Confused, isolated and hopeless, Bruno becomes a petty thief for that exact desperate purpose.

Truth be told, Bruno would manage not to land himself in prison, regardless of what he stole. I actually Like this version of Batman, and feel like he, more than any other, would sympathize with Bruno's situation, and promise he'd get his father the help he needed (actual psychiatric attention for a start), and, in exchange, Bruno returned all the stolen goods in his possession.

This doesn't really change much in the public's opinion of Bruno though. He's a monster in their eyes, and they want him arrested - or killed, for tall they care. Bruno is forced to live in the shadows after exposing himself like that - and eventually he might turn for the worse. We'll just have to wait and see how he ends up.

Notes:

Yes Bruno is considerably OP and full of powers he shouldn't have. The trade off for this is that he's extremely shy and horrible at Doing things bc of just how sheltered he is - Bruno is incredibly naive and easily fooled.

He does 'wisen up' with time but oh god he's a freak at first. Peak autism animal. His immediate response to being surprised or flustered in general was Biting or Petrifying People.

His age sliding thing is bc I'm still younger than like, every F/O I listed for him so it doesn't matter.

* → I'll be using Psimon's Young Justice design and personality when I pair him up with Bruno, because I don't care about any other. This means I'll insert him where he doesn't belong or fit and replace his other self (like in TT).

I'll do the same for Kirk if I decide to put Bruno in BTAS, but for now I just don't care enough about that show to say for sure!
