Okay stupid rambling story time
I have a mutual here whom I talked like a year ago about Jojo (she doesn't watch it yet) and she sent me a gif asking who the cutie is (it was Bruno of course lol) and she said that he has an excellent fashion sense 😌
Okay soo going forward to yesterday he got mentioned because she sent me a Winx Club quiz which said that "I have a horrible tste in men" (Like, can you imagine a quiz saying that while my man is Bruno?!😤) And just showed that this is blasphemy. And she just said that Bruno's design is her favourite character design in manga and anime ever! 🤩
Sorry for rambling but this made me happy and had to share with you! 😍
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
YESSS ANOTHER POTENTIAL CONVERT TO THE BRUNO SIMP CULT!!!! (Well, maybe once she starts watching, lol. I hope his design is enough to rope her in. If she likes Bruno, I bet she’ll love all of Araki’s character designs.)
Lmaoo that quizmaker is obviously wrong about you having a bad taste. Liking Bruno means you have PEAK taste in men….. /silly
Thank you for sharing!! I hope you are well!!! 💕

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 26/10/2024 (Bruno Mars & ROSÉ, Gracie Abrams, Morgan Wallen)
For a ninth week straight, Sabrina Carpenter holds onto the #1 on the UK Singles Chart with “Taste”. Welcome back to REVIEWING THE CHARTS!
content warning: language, references to sex, violence, mental health (paranoia, suicide, abusive relationships)
Rundown
As always, we start our episode with the notable dropouts, those being tracks exiting the UK Top 75 – which is what I cover – after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40. This week, we bid adieu to a fair few songs, it was a bit of a bloodbath even if I can see a lot of these making a return. We say our farewells to “KEEP UP” by Odetari, “Pretty Slowly” by Benson Boone, “You’re Gonna Go Far” by Noah Kahan, “Blame it on the Rain” by Milli Vanilli, “Free” by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, “Angel of My Dreams” by JADE (more on her later), “Carry You Home” by Alex Warren, “i like the way you kiss me” by Artemas, “Belong Together” by Mark Ambor, “Scared to Start” by Michael Marcagi and finally, “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay.
Much of the reason for our grand list of dropouts would not just be the amount of newer entries we have this week, which span from viral slow-burn deep cuts to sudden smash hits that missed even my periphery, but it should definitely be noted how many re-entries we have this week, though the circumstances for them are quite unfortunate. Former One Direction member and English singer and media personality in his own right, Liam Payne, has passed at 31, having jumped out of his hotel room in Argentina after what is likely a period of intense substance abuse. Payne had recently been in the news for allegations of his own, and his career had never reached the heights of his boy band fame or even his contemporaries, though this still struck a lot of people, especially on social media where TMZ posted images of his corpse. Classy. Payne’s death is the tragic by-product of an industry, a series of labels and plenty of executives disregarding the likely traumatic outcome of being thrown into pop stardom at a young age. There were so many moments in the careers of the 1D boys where it seemed evident that access points to support just weren’t there, or weren’t taken seriously because of the fact they were a famous boy band – you just cough it up, right? It’s the industry, it’s just “how it is”. Chappell Roan has recently highlighted how terrifying pop music can be as a performer, and with Payne passing, maybe there’ll be a second look towards those who could have gotten to him in the years before his death, and simply refused, restrained themselves on the grounds of their own financial bottom line. Preventive measures need to be in place, and whilst I doubt Liam Payne of all people should be the figurehead of mental health struggles in pop music because of his own problematic history and real lack of career growth, he should be a stark reminder that those you forget about in showbiz don’t just disappear… until they do.
Of course, this show is about the chart itself, and ultimately, another awful reminder of how pop music can put you through the wringer is present in our non-Payne re-entry at #69: “Careless Whisper” by the late George Michael. Recently reissued in celebration of its 40-year anniversary, the classic hit spent three weeks at #1 as Michael’s solo break from Wham! in 1984. Possibly the greatest treasure George Michael brought to the nation was preventing Black Lace’s novelty “Agadoo” from the top spot. Sarah Washington’s dance version reached #45 in 1993, and a UK garage rendition by 2 Play featuring Thomas Jules and Jucxi D took “Careless Whisper” to the top 40 once again in 2004 at #29. Just to date these songs, the #1s were the late Meat Loaf’s “I’ll Do Anything for Love” and Girls Aloud’s “I’ll Stand by You”, respectively. The original recording returned for a few weeks in 2017 following Michael’s passing, reaching #44, and it’s back for presumably one week, though a grimly potent one.
Otherwise, we have Liam Payne and One Direction making their returns: as for his solo hits, “For You”, a duet with Rita Ora from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack is back at #43, near his most iconic track, “Strip that Down” featuring Quavo at #41, which I mostly remember for being co-written with Ed Sheeran and sounding like Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me”. It originally peaked at #3 for two weeks in 2017 whilst “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber was, unsurprisingly, #1. “For You”, on the other hand, which is – quite scarily – new enough for me to have reviewed on its debut week back in 2018, peaked at #8 for two weeks that year, whilst Drake’s “God’s Plan” held onto #1. Oh, and when I say I would have reviewed it on its debut week, I mean would have. I searched, and this is the second episode ever, that I mistakenly deleted in its entirety and replaced with a note essentially saying “whoops!” soon after. I can’t lie and say I wouldn’t do that today.
As for One Direction, “What Makes You Beautiful” – which has spent nearly 80 weeks on the chart and was their debut single after their X Factor appearance – is back at #23. The now-iconic, mostly shit debut made the band parade in on first try to #1 on the UK Singles Chart, even if just for one week, and had appeared on the chart much lower but still regularly until as late as 2014. Our other returns from the boys are more sentimental: “Story of My Life” is back at #9, after peaking at #2 in 2013, blocked by Lily Allen’s cover of “Somewhere Only We Know”. My fun fact about this one is that Alvin and the Chipmunks have a cover that adapts their lyrics to be about their relationship with their owner Dave. Perhaps more importantly, however, it was co-written by all of the band members, a distinction it shares with its fellow ballad “Night Changes”, which resonates with fans partly because it is about accepting change that can come so soon and suddenly over the course of your life. I’m no Directioner by any means, but this is a beautiful, dare I say perfect song that has become their most-streamed just through sheer longevity, despite being far from their biggest smash at the time. It’s a slow burn that has the biggest star Harry on lead in the chorus, and ZAYN and Liam trading the first verse (ZAYN leaving after this single’s release), which really helps propel it – alongside the sentiment – to the top of the charts after Payne’s passing. It had a comparatively brief chart run compared to their other big hits in late 2014 and early 2015, only reaching #7 whilst “Uptown Funk!” was #1. There’s something really special about how when one component of the quintet is lost, the devoted fans, now mostly adults, have taken it just one spot higher to peak at #6 this week. Again, I’m no One Direction fan, I never had a connection with the boys like many would have, but this is the best song in the top 40 right now – a selfish part of me aches for a second run, but it’s unlikely it takes off past this week. It would be a beautiful moment though, for a song that in its chorus, defies that fear of change: even when everything you’ve ever wanted disappears at your wake, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Just look forward.
Oh, yeah, we also have notable gains, and you know, 74 other songs in the region I cover, though I could spend a great deal of time on “Night Changes”. However, we do see healthy boosts for “I Only Smoke When I Drink” by nimino at #57, “Bad Dreams” by Teddy Swims at #25, and that’s… actually it. This week’s top five on the UK Singles Chart starts with “I Love You, I’m Sorry” by Gracie Abrams at #5, then we have a new entry from ROSÉ of BLACKPINK and Bruno Mars at #4 with their duet “APT.” which we will get to discussing later. Then it should be more familiar: “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars (again) at #3, “Sailor Song” by Gigi Perez (who has her follow-up ready for next week) at #2 and of course, “Taste” at the top. So if we know how it tastes at the top, what about the bottom? I won’t say that again, new song review time.
New Entries
#75 – “Oscar Winning Tears.” – RAYE
Produced by Mike Sabath
This is the most recent viral sleeper hit from RAYE’s My 21st Century Blues, an album that had more longevity in moderate hits that backed up the smash of “Escapism.” long after that had left the charts. This serves as the first full song on the album after the introduction, or the overture on the live edition, setting out what seems to be the record’s primary narrative, at least in part, that of the constant manipulation of young women being taken advantage of by a manic and unjust music industry, that reflects upon the wider society enabling it. Whilst there aren’t many specifics – RAYE quickly dismisses his details as irrelevant since he’s just one of many men to have taken advantage of her – the track follows RAYE taking a seat and recognising his emotional outbursts in the ex-relationship as fake and full of lies, hence the name. There’s a cinematic showtune-esque approach to the rap-singing of the verses that ends up dipping in and out unevenly thanks to the mixing, but it still rests nicely into R&B, with a minimal shake-up of drums and piano that kicks its intensity up not through drastic changes but through stray details like a wanky guitar or a rattling hi-hat switch-up, eventually forming a mix that clouds up into nothingness. It doesn’t capture the swell it should, despite generally playing into its melodrama, and hence has the stop-start momentum that may fit its content but stilts its potential. There’s a confidence and empowerment to this track that decays on later, more jaded songs, and whilst it may be a good fit for RAYE, it doesn’t have the same touching vulnerability that bases some of her more powerful cuts in reality and adds a heartfelt backlining. It’s a good introduction, but as a single, it falters in really painting a complete picture.
#61 – “Piece of My Heart” – Wizkid and Brent Faiyaz
Produced by P2J, Dpat, Juice Cuice and Drew80HD
It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve seen either of these acts, but the Nigerian singer who helped propel modern Afrobeats into his current global success has teamed up with one of the most influential newer alt-R&B acts for a new duet fusing their styles. We probably wouldn’t have the hits we do without them, especially this year, so there’s a strangeness to seeing the two debut so low, though of course influence and inspiration don’t always translate chart-wise. What I also wouldn’t have expected was how ambitious this track ended up being, with Faiyaz being the main star in my opinion, as he effortlessly blends different vocal inflections and alterations into a slippery Afrobeats rhythm with uniquely hissy and busy drums, sounding really organic under and over the tropical guitars and sliding keys in that first beat. This is the cleanest Wizkid’s vocal mix has… ever sounded, really, and he frames himself as the sweatier, sexual intimacy to Faiyaz’s loving platitudes that importantly give this woman ownership of some of his heart, but restraining letting her have too much. It plays out in the song as a cheesy “I just won’t have enough for myself” one-liner but speaks to the empty, pitch-shifted promises of the intro and Wizkid sounding desperate in his quieter, stifled delivery once the hypothetical of him potentially hurting her come into play. Of course, you could, fantastically, ignore all of that and jam to how gorgeous this sounds as a piece of music, with an immaculate breeze of a mix forming from what should end up at least slightly too busy and chaotic.
With the beat switch into the chipmunk vocal on its second half, subtitled “Sometimes”, we get not just the other side of that loving character, but a grovelling acknowledgement of their flaws. That simple chorus really does get to the crux of it: “Sometimes, I might be a bad version of me”. Wizkid even attempts to link back and reminisce on the intimacy we heard over the first beat that has been subtly diluted with a shakier, frailer arrangement, to no avail before the tape stops. I’m not used to this level of narrative storytelling from Wizkid, especially not in the context of how seamlessly the production forms around it, and although Faiyaz may be the more significant performer here, it intrigues me more into how an upcoming album could shape up if this is the approach he’s going with. I’m kind of taken aback by this lead single, I am really fascinated to where he goes next, even if it may not chart anytime soon. He may have a new fan on his hands here.
#52 – “Fantasy” – JADE
Produced by Mike Sabath
Jade Thirlwall of Little Mix continues to work for solo success, with this being her third attempt after “Angel of My Dreams” was not overly impressive but a resounding success critically and commercially, though its follow-up failed to really climb up the ladder the same way, with “Fantasy” potentially suffering the same fate given its low debut. Is it worth the potential climb up though? Well, despite sharing the producer, it fails to echo either the immediacy or the core clash at the heart of that solo debut single, and whilst JADE is still bringing much more personality than any of the half-formed Little Mix solo singles recently, this borderline pride anthem feels a bit lost. The glittery disco synths meander until they combine into a flavourless dressing, interrupting with obnoxious woozy stabs any actual bassy impact and momentum those verses embracing kinks and freedom could be. Madonna’s Erotica – an unabashed EDM-pop embracing of queer sexuality – is one of my favourite albums of all time and whilst it can be abrupt, cheesy or indistinct, it always knows where it’s going and refuses to chug along into a full, greatly-produced but ultimately aimless mess of keys and stray ideas. I genuinely do not know why JADE or producer Mike Sabath would allow the lead to be so easily drowned out by the production, which then absorbs a wave of tropical-adjacent nu-disco elements that really overfill the mix, rendering it gross in the way that perhaps wasn’t intended. I’m all for over-the-top campness, but the message is quite literally lost in the breathy performance and playful structure, alongside the feathery soundscape. It feels like it’s taking too many detours – or, never really having the punch or strength to its hooks in the first place – before being able to deliver that confidence, rendering it much less impactful, more like a sugary syrup that resembled some form of liberation or resistance prior to manufacturing. On first listen, I just thought this was okay but it might actually be a more detrimental and unfortunate reading of its subject matter than it has any idea how to grapple with. This could be something, it clearly wants to be, but it fumbles far before the point of that potential being heard, let alone fulfilled.
#50 – “Noid” – Tyler, the Creator
Produced by Tyler, the Creator
It’s that season again – and by that, I could of course mean Halloween and the spooky season but I mostly mean the season in which California rapper Tyler, the Creator, after staying relatively quiet for a year or two, announces a project, a new identity or character to play within the persona of for that record’s promotion – if not the project itself – and within a few weeks, he’ll have dropped a few promotional videos and eventually, a full album, mostly self-produced and with exciting hidden features… that’s on Monday, however. Once again, Tyler has eschewed convention by refusing to release on the crowded Friday and instead delaying his album until the Monday, hence the debut for a mid-week single that feeds into the Halloweeny times by focusing on paranoia.
This album’s protagonist, Saint Chroma of CHROMAKOPIA, constantly feels like, for lack of a phrase that doesn’t paraphrase a seasonal one-hit wonder, somebody’s watching him. The music video depicts visions of violence and fear that may not be real but find themselves justified in the lyrics, stretching this fictional personality back to Tyler’s reality where he can draw parallels in between the home invasions still plaguing the friends he grew up with, to the paparazzi’s focus on his 2023 purchase of a million-dollar mansion, in terms of how that can both eat at you and isolate you. Los Angeles’ celebrity culture and his familiarity with the city leads Chroma, or Tyler, to not feel understood in his conflict, with the sarcastic hook expressing envy for those who can just enjoy the small pleasure of watching, feeling, enjoying the simplicities of life. Tyler, however, feels bombarded by the inhuman: cameras, satellites, screenshots – when screens are pushed in front of you and your extensive purchases are news, that same systemic oppression from living in an unsafe neighbourhood returns in a way that may not put you in immediate danger, but reassures how insignificant and statistical you are in the spotlight, with the beat switch segmenting the two sides of life as much as it branches the two together.
Sonically, I mean, it’s Tyler, it’s lengthy and detailed, finding even more ways to develop his typically fuzzy and complete sound into the specific energy he wishes to operate within for a particular album cycle. Zambian psychedelic rock samples texture the first half, with Tyler displaying his barer, flawed singing voice without the coating IGOR granted it, though the “runnin’” he’s been doing for years in his music and the immense vocal layers from his catalogue but particularly that album remain, with WILLOW and Tyler’s separate multi-tracked choirs constantly attacked by that sample of Paul Ngozi reflecting a similar mania in his own native language – crossing those barriers feels particularly potent for a song that’s really about homes. Hell, Tyler’s mother even appears on the interlude threatening to beat up anyone who messes with her son, whose frail, pitch-shifted vocals that follow her defiant words emphasise how much we owe to our households. I love how the second half extends its intensity on pure tedium with Tyler’s nasal drawling out of the “e” sound in “me” over real, but low-fidelity claps. As for the full release on Monday, I’ll be excited to see how powerfully this hits within that context as something so dense as this can be difficult to sift through as a single, and Tyler has definitely polarised audiences with his leads before a critically adored album to follow, so my ears are peeled. Tyler’s releases always feel like an incredibly well-planned and momentous event, where even if I don’t love the album as much as his last, I can respect the growth, and such a complicated song from such a complicated artist definitely deserves a look from the bigger picture. Hell, that may just be the point of his attitude towards fame since at least CHERRY BOMB in 2015. Nearly a decade later, I’m excited to see how his approach has changed.
#40 – “Love Somebody” – Morgan Wallen
Produced by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome
US country star Morgan Wallen loves to drop these teaser singles so that those who don’t follow his every move never really know when a full new album is coming… until we see 30 tracks hog up the Hot 100 and we know just what has occurred. Regardless of the bloated albums and honestly being much less interesting each new song I hear, I have liked his songs before so there could be something here to enjoy. Shamefully, there isn’t, as this is about as country as a shirtless guy in a flag-branded cowboy hat going around a city as a novelty cowboy who can barely play “Wonderwall” and puts on a silly accent for foreign tourists. There’s almost a morbid appeal to how blankly Morgan Wallen’s singing and melodies “fit” over the chintzy guitars mixed into a synthy pop rock pastiche even AOR radio programmers in 1987 might see as outside of their remit. Morgan’s lyrics, however, are about finding that honest girl he can take back to the sticks, instead of some opportunist using him for the parties and fame, seeing if he can snatch some of his wealth. I’m not sure yet if when writing this kind of bitter, hapless lament about inauthentic women who leave him to dry once absorbing the parts of him that matter to her… he may just be writing about himself, if he’s even writing it at all. Next.
#19 – “That’s So True” – Gracie Abrams
Produced by Aaron Dessner, Gracie Abrams and Julian Bunetta
Gracie Abrams has recently popped up with the deluxe edition of her breakout record, The Secret of Us, which distantly eyed up a second week at #1, a spot currently taken by Kylie Minogue who unfortunately had no new entries this week. Instead, we have what singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has left on the cutting room floor which, given my disdain for her overly-sanitised and overthought brand of folk-pop, could honestly be a good thing if I wanted something rawer or more compelling. Unfortunately, even the B-sides grow through the machine, and though Abrams embraces her obnoxious immaturity through the writing, much like the promising “Risk”, this doesn’t have the youthful panic, trading it for a stomp-rock chorus that, much like that Morgan Wallen song, borders on kind of embarrassing, especially when it leads into the most brow-raising description of sex I think I have heard outside of rap on the charts. The acoustic rumble is really not that bad, but it’s so stiff in its programming and even its structure, fixated on repeating that annoying “oo-oo-oo” sound with little variation, and all of the muddy swell it accumulates itself in the bridge with the distorted, irritating drums, ends up all for nought when the song refuses to free itself from the shackles of its claustrophobic percussion and inconclusive chorus. One could argue that this absolutely fits the awkward post-breakup teenage drama… but at least when O-Rod did it, it was fun, there were much more unique details than this sexless column of cliché, and most importantly, Olivia Rodrigo is an actor first, and those dramatics, those stakes are palpable in her performance. This song refuses to expand itself beyond petty bullshit even towards its abrupt end, wasting everyone’s time in the process.
#4 – “APT.” – ROSÉ and Bruno Mars
Produced by Bruno Mars, Cirkut, Omer Fedi and Rogét Chahayed
It seems like the BLACKPINK girls are here to stay as solo acts and whilst so far they have definitely gathered much traction in that first week then filtered off slightly, their quest for western pop success that could really last seems to have been solved… by Bruno Mars. I’m genuinely surprised he’s maintained his career well enough to sell these top 10 duets, and perhaps a relative newcomer like ROSÉ makes a bit less sense for him to play off on, but he’s surrounded by certified pop songwriters and producers here too, so a part of me definitely anticipated for a watered-down personality… which is not at all what we got here. In fact, it’s a bratty rush of teenage lovestruck energy that dismisses anything but the “now” in its buzzy, new-rave brashness, not too far from say, The Ting Tings, in its presentation that could be seen as obnoxious if not for its content, all about a drinking game and that immediate lust to be around someone you love. An incredibly percussive track, it balances Bruno’s breathy ad-libs, with a simple cheerleader chant of a beat ripped straight from Toni Basil’s “Mickey”, itself from “Kitty” but that’s another story, that gradually fuses with the guitar-based melodic elements of the track to form something really euphoric. That pre-chorus is such a sticky melody and the verses are so manically repetitive you almost don’t notice Bruno is singing or rapping some phrases in Korean. It almost functions as a bait-and-switch even, with the K-pop structure naturally having you expect incredibly distinct and disparate parts being separated via abrupt transitions and cloyed together as a “song” by an undeniable chorus. Instead, the third cheerleader chant chorus carries on the swell of the pre-chorus effortlessly into a confrontational bridge pairing a soaring guitar lick with stuttering Bruno blips panning across ROSÉ’s reverb-drenched promises that she’s on her way. It may not actually go anywhere, but it settles for the temporary euphoria, the togetherness, in such a cute and for me, unexpected way that I can’t help but find this frankly adorable. It may sour on me with time but for now, I recommend it and I’d love to see this borderline punk track be the BLACKPINK-derived track that ends up lasting.
Conclusion
Definitely a fascinating and diverse week that gave me way too much to discuss, overwhelmingly so, but not one that led me to a breadth of quality like last time, more just intriguing nuances that opened these songs up a lot. Except Morgan Wallen, of course. Gracie Abrams gets Worst of the Week for “That’s So True”, which shouldn’t be a surprise, maybe I really am getting too old for this, but Mr. Wallen swoops up the Dishonourable Mention just as easily for “Love Somebody”, JADE’s safe this week. As for the best, I am a bit of a fangirl, I apologise, there is going to be an inherent bias, but I do think “Noid” is a brilliant, multi-layered song so Tyler snatches Best of the Week, with a delightfully surprised Honourable Mention towards “Piece of My Heart” by Wizkid and Brent Faiyaz, which is honestly a very similar track in scope, form and even some smaller details like vocal effects; weird coincidence.
As for what’s on the horizon, we may see Halsey and Tyler battle it out on the albums chart alongside Megan, Tears for Fears and Bastille, but how much of that will actually translate to the hit parade is unclear. It may be more worth betting on Lady Gaga’s proper comeback single and whatever “Addison Rae” is up to, but time will tell. For now, thank you for reading, rest in peace to Ka, and I’ll see you next week!

don't think i've mentioned one of my aus here yet, but! it's basically a Dave and Jack swap au. i called it the "Bruno is Orange" au because of the line "Bruno, what happened to your good sense?" and 'cause Jack's orange.
basically, Jack became Henry's business partner instead of Dave. Jack, freshly eighteen and going through some of the worst trauma in his life so far (losing his parents), heard about Henry needing some help with his diner and, well...what really does he have to lose? he doesn't have a job, and he and his siblings need the money.
it's the most vulnerable he's ever been with a stranger before. he rips the band-aid off when he tells Henry he's desperate for some form of employment so that he can help his siblings. Dee's a toddler for God's sake. she deserves a good life, doesn't she?
he's surprised when he actually gets the job. he's almost relieved. this job pays relatively well, too.
of course, we all know how it went with Henry and Dave canonically.
Jack wasn't spared from it.
of course, Jack reacts wildly differently from Dave. he's angry. violent himself. he gets hit in the face with a wrench and threatens Henry with his father's old switchblade, of which Jack now carries on himself for defense.
Jack is still fiery, but it gets dulled down over the years. he gets worn down over the years. it doesn't mean he's not angry, far from it. he'd honestly prefer to kill the pink fucker and get it over with. but it just means it takes a lot more to push him to a more...violent response. it's clear though that he's likely going to snap someday, and that it will leave Henry a dead man.
then William shows up.
they needed a technician. someone to help them repair the animatronics. William, still a bit upset that he didn't get to Henry in time before someone else became the co-owner of Fredbear's, took the job in a heartbeat. he's gotten a few other jobs in the past four years, so he's sure he's got some skills and experience to help him with this job.
despite William being older than him by a few years, Jack takes the guy under his wing. William thinks Jack's lucky. he would've killed to be in this guy's position. working alongside the guy who was practically his idol growing up, the guy whose circus brought him joy during that rather dark period in his life, that brought him hope.
Jack thinks William is lucky.
he doesn't have to deal with this bullshit like Jack does.
despite all of this, William and Jack grow close. Jack promises to keep him safe should Henry decide to direct his anger towards the guy for no reason, and William views Jack as someone he can talk to when he needs someone to ramble to.
well...that's until Henry decides to Fuck Some Shit Up (kill Dee), but we're not going to get into that right now-
- dogboyjackkennedy
Almost missed this which is criminal this is So so so cools fucking RAUGH I love it. Obsessed w the fact Henry still killed Dee too mf Peak cunt fucking CMON 😭 the switch up is just so good in general tho like yeah of course the guy who never experienced family love would be more vulnerable to this than the guy who lost it it's 💥 . It's so so so sad and I love it so so muchh for it ^_^
#luly talks#the anger just getting dulled but leaving him as a ticking time bomb and him being protective of dave AUGH ‼️‼️💥💥#SHORT ON WORDS HIGH IN EMOTIONS#asks#dogboyjackkennedy#dsaf

also, reader is a stand user and their stand name is tears for fears (yes the band) and their ability is to control the state of any kind of liquid, changing it from solid to liquid to gas. it is a stand with the appearance of a japanese weather doll, except it has hands, which is used in japanese culture to summon good weather or good luck. tears for fears can also change itself into a cloud to absorb surrounding liquids and use it for later. it is a close range combat stand in its regular state, it’s cloud form has a longer range but becomes weak in combat and can only store liquid, or turn gas and solid into liquid state
Dark, dimly lit streets welcomed your eyes everyday. It has been the same ever since your whole family died in a car accident. You were supposed to die with them but your father had managed to save you from drowning with everyone else after the car swerved into a lake. The water was as cold as ice, or perhaps even colder. You almost lost your life to hypothermia after your father saved you, he tried to save everyone else but unfortunately drowned. You were the only one left alive, with nothing to your name since the rest of the family decided to be greedy pigs and take all of your inheritance right under your nose. You were too busy with grieving to even realise what had happened. When disaster after disaster hits you like trains arriving at stations one after another, you decided to just completely give up. The only thing that kept you going was your drug abuse which made you forget about all of the wring things that had occurred in your tragic life.
It wasn't until meeting a man, technically he was just a few years older, but acted really mature and looked older, named Bruno Bucciarati that your life started to change for the better. It was surprising how a teenage boy from the mafia could improve your life so much. It was completely different from what you thought the mafia would be like. You were recruited into his small group and was the second person there, the first being a boy who was also the same age as you.
Pannacotta Fugo.
It all started when your drug dealer was killed, leaving you to find another way to look for drugs, which led you to Bucciarati and mistook him as a dealer. But you had no clue that he despised drugs with every cell in his body. He was mortified to see a young person doing drugs at your young age. His heart was shattered but was put together once again by his hatred for drugs and decided to take you in. It was during the lowest period of your life and the peak of your addiction. You never told him but you were really grateful to Bucciarati as he really helped you improve your life in ways you never imagined, never expected someone, much less a stranger, to do for you. You still remember getting your Stand in one of the most hilarious ways possible.
You pretended to smoke so that the lighter wouldn’t be found, or at least be deemed as suspicious. It did not work and Bucciarati had to bail you out as the police held you back, thinking you did something while visiting Polpo. You just kept smoking even while in bail, keeping the lighter on, until you decided that nobody would find out anyway and decided to just turn it on last minute. Surely Bucciarati and Polpo wouldn’t suspect anything, right? It wasn’t Bucciarati that bailed you out, it was some kid, your age, his name was Pannacotta Fugo. You almost laughed upon hearing it. His mother had to be insanely hungry with an impossible appetite to fill if she named her son after a dessert. You had to hold in your laughter when you found out and he didn’t even seem to notice that you had reeked of smoke, weed. It was your last supply, wasted away in a cell because you decided to join a mafia like it was a daycare. You had nothing to lose at this point and were willing to risk it all, and by all, you meant nothing.
"Light it up," said Fugo as he opened the door to a restaurant. You didn't pay attention to where you were going at all, too busy getting on your final supply of weed.
"Ah you want weed too?" You asked, "I ran out though, too bad."
"I meant the lighter...," Fugo replied in an awkward. "Not your... weed."
"Ah I see!" You grinned, lighting the lighter that Polpo had given you as a test. You were convinced that everything you were seeing was due to the fact that you were high, way too high for one weed. Until you felt the sharp, flesh piercing pain from an arrow.
The next thing you know, Bucciarati was standing over you and gently holding you up. What the hell just happened? Fugo watched you from a table, hot spaghetti sitting right infront of him and he looked like he was watching an interesting show. What had you gotten yourself into? Were they going to sell your organs? They were in the mafia right? Oh dear.
Oh very dear.
You were convinced that you fucked up, big time. Way too big.
"Are you alright?" Bucciarati's concerned voice echoed in your ear, instantly removing all of your doubts and making you trust him once again.
"Uh... Yes why wouldn't I be?" You quickly mumbled out a response which you know for a fact that even a fetus wouldn't believe it. You knew your face had turned against your own words.
"Then show it," said Bucciarati nonchalantly. You frowned, "show... what?" Your mind did not like where it was going. A cleaning session was very much needed in order to cleanse your mind of all of your questionable thoughts.
"Your Stand," Fugo announced from his seat, "we all have it."
"Uh... Yes I can stand I know that," you shot back, very confused. Did Fugo ever went to school?
Bucciarati shook his head disapproving and you were convinced that you were dreaming with what your eyes showed you next. There was something behind him, but not a shadow. It looked like it had zippers on parts of it's body. It had no eyes as well, some blue helmet-like thing covering it. What the hell was that? What was Bucciarati? You turned to Fugo and registered his face filled with hesitation, you then turned to Bucciarati and saw him signalling to Fugo to do something as well. What Fugo showed you was way more surprising and had your eyes widen to the point where it could reach the top of your head and examine the blood vessels connected to your brain.
It had a purple and white chess pattern and appeared much more menacing compared to Bucciarati's zip man. Something about that purple thing struck fear into your heart and you just knew that you had to stay away from it at all cause. There was just something about it that made you afraid for no reason. Even Fugo seemed to not like that purple creature very much.
"What are those things?" You finally asked, fingers pointing accusingly at the two mafioso. "What kind of things are you guys up to? What have I gotten myself into?"
"Relax," Bucciarati began. "What we have is called a Stand. You have it too, since you failed Polpo's test."
"What was his test again?" You asked, memories flew all over your mind and it was impossible to gather all of them into one place for you to remember what exactly the mission was. But from the sounds of it, you had messed up big time. Should have never gotten involved with the mafia.
"The lighter," Fugo began. He started explaining how the lighter works and how you could gain an ability after relighting it. It all sounded foreign to you and you were just convinced that you had to be high.
That was until Fugo asked you to show your ability and what looked like a bedsheet ghost appeared. It took you a moment to realise that it bore a resemblance to Japanese weather doll. You used to love them as a child. It had a droplet pattern scribbled all over it and its face really looked like something that you would expect from a weather doll. Two small dots for eyes and a small smile. It didn't have any legs, unlike Bucciarati and Fugo's Stand. It was actually floating like a little ghost.
Were you high or was this actually happening, you could not tell for the life of you. Was this a dream? It felt too realistic yet unrealistic at the same time. Were you seeing ghosts?
"Are you guys not going to tell me what is going on?" You demanded. "What is all this? This is crazy!"
Bucciarati turned to look at Fugo, gesturing for him to be the one to inform you about everything. He looked a bit hesitant but still obligated and opened his mouth. Apparently this mafia was unlike every other, something about how this mafia has Stand users, which is an ability people have based on their fighting spirit and things like that. Other than that, Passione was basically like every other mafia organisation, except nobody knows the leader, those who tried got their lives ended. Didn't get an answer to their question too.
It took you days to get used to your new ability and the main reason was because you didn't even bother to try. You were convinced that you had to be on some sort of a hard drug that was making you feel all this oddly realistic fiction stuff. There was no way this happened. Bucciarati had sent Fugo over to check up on you and also to help you pack so that you would be able to move and live with Bucciarati instead of the dumpster home which you have been staying at for months now.
"How much drugs do you have here?" Asked Fugo on the final day of packing. "Bucciarati would be horrified upon seeing this."
"Don't know, didn't count," you shrugged. "Trying to quit but it's hard. Been relapsing for a while now."
Fugo went silent as he picked up some of the leftovers that you had. You didn't even know how they got here, just woke up and saw it and lost all self-control you had. "Do I throw them away?" He asked politely. You hesitated before nodding your head and he packed your drugs into a separate bag. The rest of the packing and walking to Bucciarati's home was filled with silence, both of you were too awkward to initiate another conversation. Bucciarati's home was spotlessly clean, not one dust could be spotted and he already had a room for you, which was neatly decorated. White walls and a bed greeted your eyes alongside a nightstand beside your bed. It was simple, yet a rare sight for you, given the fact that you had spent months on the streets, busy greeting rats and getting high every second to even try and function like a normal human.
"My room is right next door, knock if you need anything," Fugo told you as he placed your bags on an open space in your room and left.
That night, you couldn't sleep. Maybe you weren't just used to a completely new environment yet. But you just walked around like you were touring a new country. Bucciarati's house was big for 3 people living here. It had made you wonder how much cash does this man make. Surely it couldn't be honest methods since he was still a teenager.
It wasn't until you suddenly remembered that Bucciarati was in the mafia that you realised how stupid you were for thinking about how he got this much cash. Of course he'd have a lot since he was working for one of the biggest mafia organisations in Italy. You walked about for a while more and decided to enter the kitchen for a quick drink.
"Can't sleep?" Fugo asked. It was dark but you could feel his gaze on you.
"Clearly you can't either," you replied. "This house is huge, do you want to explore it with me?" You asked. "You can't sleep anyway."
Fugo stared at you blankly, as though he was a confused child being asked to do a complicated math question. "Are you that bored?" He asked.
"Come on Fugo, we live together anyway, shouldn't we spend more time together?" You responded, trying everything you could think of to convince him due to your fear of the dark. You were scared of the things that the dark has to offer. Things were often way more terrifying when you can't see them.
Fugo appeared defeated and accepted his fate. It seemed that he would rather walk with you than to sleep, which made you wonder why. You looked amazed at Bucciarati's choices in furniture, the colours really blended well together. Not too bright, nor was it too dark. It was a pretty and cozy home. Fugo agreed too, while mentioning that Fugo himself helped to pick out some of the furniture. You wondered what had happened to him to cause him to be with Bucciarati, he didn't look older than you so it had really made you wonder. What kind of tragedy struck him so hard to the point where he joined a mafia that gives people the power to kill?
Over the week, you practically glued yourself to Fugo. Not that there was much of a choice, Bucciarati was mostly busy and he also asked Fugo to teach you the simple stuff they do.
The group had started out with just Bucciarati, Fugo and you. Bucciarati himself did most of the tasks, even those that involved killing. It seemed that he wanted to protect your teenage innocent, while being a teenager himself. What had corrupted him? The longer you spent with the group, the more you had to wonder, and the deeper your bond became. It was a nice change when Narancia joined, then Abbacchio and lastly Mista. While talking to Narancia and Mista was fun, you still enjoyed your time with Fugo, the one that you knew the longest. Bucciarati spent most of his time with Abbacchio, perhaps it was because they were off the same age. Or maybe they were as equally corrupted, with their bloodstained hands. Perhaps it was why they were drawn to each other, attraction stronger than magnets.
Even with the addition of Narancia and Mista, both louder and more fun to be with, you were still closer to Fugo. Maybe it was the fact that the both of you only had each other in the group while Bucciarati was busy with most of his bloody work, treating them like his children despite there not being a huge age gap. He gave them a sense of family without even trying.
"Oi Panni!" You chimed happily, skipping your way to Fugo, his eyes once glued to the words on his book turned to face you. "Strawberry pannacotta, your favourite."
It was a bright Sunday afternoon and you were sent on a mission to find the thief stealing from the businesses protected by Passione. You decided to reward yourself by getting a few snacks and you just to happened to know that Fugo secretly likes strawberry flavoured stuff. But he was too embarrassed to admit it. Hence his eyes essentially glowed upon seeing the snacks but his cheeks flushed red from embarrassment.
"How'd you—"
Before Fugo could even finish his sentence, Narancia came flying towards the both of you, after seeing that you had snacks. "I'm hungry!" He announced happily, "is this for me?"
You hadn't brought any for the other members. Mainly because you didn't have much cash. Secondly because Fugo was the one that you were the closest to. Also the one that you just to happen to be the most attracted to.
The one you feel a romantic attraction to.
"Isn't it obvious Narancia? They like Fugo!" Mista shouted from the couch, breaking his attention from his favourite television show. "I don't know why they aren't dating yet!"
"Don't be silly Guido Mista," you snapped. "I brought four snacks too, you want any?"
A horrified look took over his face and he returned to watching his show. Fugo sighed at the sight, "just how can you be so scared of a number." Fugo opened the dessert you got for him. "Thanks by the way," he said, looking up at you with a small smile on his face. He wasn't as expressive as the others so this was a rare sight. "How'd you know which dessert shop is my favourite?" He asked.
"I didn't know it was your favourite," you replied, surprised that the both of you have the same favourite store. "Its mine too!"
"Really?" Fugo asked, feeling doubtful but still decided to believe you since why would you lie to him? "We should go there together then," he suggested.
After that, you decided to leave him alone and let him have some time to himself. Fugo was the type to value his personal space and you knew that. Deep down you had the feeling that Fugo did not reciprocate the feelings you had but you were happy to stay good friends with him. So long as you got to be on good terms with him.
What you didn't know that Fugo also viewed you as someone more than a friend but chose to ignore it. Believing himself to be inferior and not worthy enough. He believed that his flaws were such a disaster that nobody should be on a romantic level with him. He didn't think that someone would embrace his flaws, despite you not being as afraid of purple haze as you used to be when you first saw it. You had come to accept purple haze, saying that it wasn't as bad as Fugo made it out to be. It was nice to have someone to accept his imperfections without him telling someone what it was. But it didn't erase his inferior feeling. That feeling only allowed him to remain close friends with you, but even that was starting to be impossible for him.
Before anyone else came along, you and Fugo were essentially forced together. The only ones each other had. You and him had plenty of missions together, and he always helped you to use your Stand to its fullest potential. He was the one who named it too, Tears for Fears. It was one particular mission that made you and Fugo grew even closer even though he refused to show it.
"So we have to hunt down this guy?" You asked, holding up a file Bucciarati gave you. It was a simple mission of hunting a man down and forcing him to speak, or just bring him to Bucciarati if he refused. Bucciarati couldn't do this mission as he had to do another bloody mission. It was either hunting the man down or letting the young teenagers murder.
"I've seen him before," Fugo announced, getting ready to leave and hunt down the man Passione needed him to find. He was already by the door when you started to get ready.
"Asshole!" You cursed. "Wait for me!"
Fugo sighed, but still waited for you to finish up. "Faster," he demanded. "The man isn't going to do our job for us!"
“I am fast!” You shouted back, almost tripping while running towards him. Fugro sighed, how did he get paired up with you?
The both of you walked around, Fugo seemed to know where he was going since he walked with confidence in his steps. He was also careful as to not be seen as suspicious. It seemed that Fugo knew his job well. You couldn’t tell if it was impressive or concerning.
“Wait,” he suddenly stopped, his arm stretched open to stop you from walking in front of him.
“What’s wrong now?” You asked in a soft and almost quiet tone, thinking that he might have found something important.
And he did indeed.
It was the man that the both of you were looking for. He was wanted for allegedly trying to sell Passione’s stuff to competing mafias, trying to start the downfall for Passione. Rumour has it that he even wanted to try and find out the identity of their boss, but it hasn’t been proven yet, nor has the boss said anything about it. To your knowledge anyway.
“How are we going to attack?” You asked.
Fugo carefully examined the dark alley way the both of you were in and noticed a pile of liquid on the ground from the rain earlier the morning. “Your Stand,” he said, “try and absorb those liquid and dump over him, freeze it while pouring it over him too.”
“I’ll try,” you replied, calling out your Stand. Your Stand took on a cloud form and absorb all of the water on the floor in an instant. The man, his name was Cecilio Vece. Both you and Fugo couldn’t find any information about him being a Stand user so it was safe to assume that he wasn’t. But luck wouldn’t have it, the man had gone to see Polpo under a disguise and got himself a Stand. Overkill.
Suddenly, your little cloud had disappeared above his head. Fugo stared at you, informing you that it wasn’t a game and that you needed to be serious. But you just couldn’t summon your Stand anymore.
“I knew Passione would send people after me one day but children?” Cecilio laughed. “The economy must be terrible.”
Fugo stared wide-eyed at Cecilio’s Stand. It was a humanoid stand as well, gold in colour and had black strips all over it. It had a cage attached to it’s back and has a timer for lock. Inside the cage was your Stand. His Stand ability was to lock up one Stand at a time. “I’ve always felt locked and trapped in Passione and this Stand shows my true colours well.”
“Fugo your Stand!” You shouted as Overkill started to head your way, you barely managed to avoid an attack.
Fugo hesitated but after seeing you almost getting hurt, he decided to summon it. A purple monstrous beast came out. It seemed as though Fugo didn’t have much control over it. Even he himself kept a distance from the Stand. Purple Haze punched a nearby wall, causing one of its capsules to break open and pieces of the wall flying apart, some pieces scraping Cecilio’s face. He stayed away from the purple gas that filled the area after noticing Fugo’s actions, but he found a rat from a nearby trash bin and threw it towards the purple gas. It had died within seconds and you found yourself in shock of his ability. It could be helpful in the situation right now. Cecilio just needed to walk into it. But how?
You decided to observe his Stand, the cage behind it. The timer was counting down. So it couldn’t trap your Stand forever. That was a good sign for you. You could somehow do something after the timer ends. Besides, it now looked like Cecilio viewed Fugo’s Stand as a bigger threat than yours, yours didn’t have an instant kill ability.
“I trapped the wrong Stand didn’t I? He laughed as Overkill approached Fugo at a speed you didn’t know was possible. It was evident that Overkill has an extremely fast speed. Fugo didn’t have enough time to run away before he got hit. Purple Haze went rabid after that and a capsule was send flying towards Cecilio and Overkill. Overkill punched it towards Fugo and he almost looked horrified. You barely dragged him out of the way of the deathly virus. You tried to glance at the timer again, only a few seconds before your Stand would be released. Purple Haze left out a loud and menacing cry that caused Cecilio to have a look of horror over his face. "You must be a piece of work young boy, to have a Stand like this," he said. "Just what are you hiding?"
Cecilio tried to keep his voice calm but his trembling hands gave him away. It was becoming clear to you that he was afraid of Purple Haze. The timer went off with a ding sound and your little cloud Stand was released and a miniature version of Purple Haze was trapped in. Now Overkill was solely targeting Fugo.
"Fugo, can my Stand go in contact with it?" You asked. "The smoke."
He looked terrified and unsure so you took the answer as no. But he wasn't going to stop you from trying. Fugo had barely ducked an attack when you sent your little cloud over to the last remaining smoke which was quickly dying out and absorbed it. Fugo stared at you with his eyes as wide as the sun. "What if you—"
"I am still fine, its thanks to Purple Haze that I got this idea," you shut him down. "Interesting Stand you got there."
Quickly, you converted your Stand back into its humanoid form and walked towards Cecilio and his Stand, Overkill. Obviously taunting them for a fight, and taking the chance to test your strength. Overkill threw a punch and your Stand blocked it but you could feel the pain of it, and it showed on your face. Cecilio took notice and taunted you, calling you a weakling, worse off than Fugo. "Your ability is just shifting floating cloud! At least that guy's Stand could kill!" He laughed.
You had used your Stand a few times to know it's ability. You just needed to get Purple Haze's smoke close enough to him. The clouds darkened as the fight continued. Fugo couldn't do anything but watch and wait for his Stand to be released. The rain poured around you, drenching everything available on the ground. The floor was leveling with water and an idea floated into your mind. Your Stand ability has everything to do with liquid, or rather converting matter into different states but it was all mainly liquid. You could freeze the ground.
You decided to lure him to a puddle of water. One kick to the left which Overkill had blocked and moved to the right, so did Cecilio. You moved closer, and he moved backwards. Your Stand rushed in for an attack and so did Overkill, both Stand standing at close proximity and Cecilio was now your range as he had moved slightly forward, into a large puddle of water. It had swiftly been turned into ice after that.
His face turned horrid as he noticed but before he could ask you anything, your Stand punched his face so hard to the point where one of his tooth got loosen and came flying out. He had tears in his eyes as he realised he lost to a mere teenager. It seemed that one of his fears was losing to one. You decided to freeze that one up as well, all the way up to his eyeball. Purple Haze's smoke was still in your possession in the state of a liquid, held by your Stand. It waved it in front of the man as a threat.
And so, the interrogation began.
Questions floated around, answers forcibly snatched. Fugo wrote everything down while you asked the questions while waving the bottle of Purple Haze's ability so that he would talk. It had come to an end when Fugo's phone rang, it was a call from someone from the headquarters. Fugo looked confused as the headquarters usually called Bucciarati instead. He looked even more terrified after the call ended. It was a direct order from headquarters to end the life of Cecilio Vece.
"I don't have a choice then," you sighed. "We got everything we need."
Who knows what would Passione do if you hadn't ended his life.
Purple Haze's ability went forcefully down his throat and ended him from the inside and out. The both of you left him to fate after that. It was a silent walk home but you had thanked him for Purple Haze slightly helping out, it was a great Stand. He nodded, the murder was still on his mind. The both of you decided to never tell Bucciarati. How would he react?
"Have you come up with a name for your Stand?" He asked as the both of you reached Bucciarati's doorstep.
"Not yet," you replied. "My brain has everything but cool names."
"How about Tears for Fears? I saw how you froze his tear and the fear on his face after that," Fugo suggested. "Its a cool name... I think."
You paused, thinking over his suggestion and smiled. "You think? Its a great name Fugo!" You chuckled as Bucciarati opened the door to see you laughing and Fugo smiling.
"Did I send you on a mission or on a date?" He asked nonchalantly but secretly hiding a smile behind his mafioso facade.
"Both," you joked as you skipped your way past him and up into your room. If you only you had been the shocked and confused look on Fugo’s face.
It had been months since then, you and Fugo had been on more and more missions together as the both of you simply worked well. Purple Haze wasn't as much of a disaster with Tears for Fears around. It wasn't as rabid, it was slightly calm. It was like Tears for Fears had a calming effect on it. It was due to that reason that Bucciarati always paired the both of you together. You never complained and neither did he. He knew it was for the best and he enjoyed doing missions with you as well. The both of you often went out to eat after a mission, if it was simple, and had a good chat every time. Personal informations exchanged, friendship strengthened, knowledge about each other increased. Not only that, it was that mission that made you slowly start to like Purple Haze. He never got why but still allowed you to show some care to that Stand. There were times where you helped out Purple Haze with its hygiene and cleaned it up. Tears for Fears often got let out whenever you were with Purple Haze too. Fugo often showed some care to Tears for Fears too, but it wasn’t as often as you to Purple Haze.
“I don’t know why you like Purple Haze so much,” said Fugo one day as you patted Purple Haze on the head like it was a harmless child. It wasn’t. “At least Tears for Fears is easier to control,” he said while gently stroking it in it’s cloud form.
“It’s not that bad,” you explained. “I think you should give Purple Haze a break.”
“I mean don’t get me wrong. I am happy that Purple Haze isn’t hard to control all the time and you can tame it well but why? Isn’t Narancia’s Aerosmith more fun? It looks like a toy,” Fugo asked.
“I don’t like toy planes,” you shut him down. “Accept the affection Fugo, it’s not going anywhere. Whether you like it or not.”
He went silent, not expecting those words from you. He was caught so off-guard that he was speechless, his mind lost all of the vocabulary that he knew of. He just hadn’t got a clue as to what to say, and you noticed it.
“Aww did I make you speechless?” You laughed. “It’s alright now come on!”
“I never expected that from you,” he finally replied. It was a reply generating your urge for answers.
“Why?” You simply asked. Your hands were still on Purple Haze, patting it. It was calm and relaxed, just like Fugo himself right now.
“You have never sounded more bossy,” he explained, earning him a loud smack on the shoulder from you.
“Excuse me?” You demanded.
It was this unfortunate moment that Narancia and Mista had stumbled upon the both of you bickering. “Narancia I knew it!” Mista announced. “They are dating!”
“Finally!” Narancia jumped for joy. “Even Purple Haze likes y/n, I should’ve realised a long time ago!”
The noises they produced had even drew in Abbacchio and Bucciarati. The two older ones watched and looked at each other. “We are in the mafia, not a club for romance,” Abbacchio said, spoiling the mood.
“Leone leave the kids alone,” Bucciarati whispered, but it was unfortunately loud enough for the rest to hear.
“Are you two a thing?” You asked almost immediately. “Interesting.”
“You two?” Fugo looked almost disgusted. He wasn’t the biggest fan of Abbacchio when he first joined but warmed up eventually, but he was never a fan of them being together.
“We have two couples here, interesting,” Mista laughed.
“Do I have to start on the both of you acting like one with all the butt smacking?” Fugo snapped. It sent you into fits of laughter and even Bucciarati couldn’t keep it in and let out a small laugh.
The bond that you all had was seen as co-workers on the surface, but deep down, it had always been more. More than just colleagues.
But your final mission for Passione caused you to want to cut ties with everyone there. Especially Fugo.
It was in February of 2001. There has been another mission, physical mission. Similar to Cecilio Vece. It was a pair that the both of you have to fight, a man and woman, Virone Lanzi and Zaira Canali. Both helped the rivals of Passione and caused major loss of income in the last month. They were worse than Cecilio, they tried to get people to join their cause.
You and Fugo managed to corner them on top of a mountain, ready for a Stand fight, and a kill order. You were up against Zaira, attempting to make her bleed so that you could freeze her blood from the inside out and make her talk. Her Stand was called Love Thing, a humanoid Stand. It had a huge heart plastered on its chest. Her ability was unknown.
Virone’s Stand was called Lilac Breeze, it had the shape of a cannon and was able to shoot acid bombs. The acid was lilac coloured somehow. You would have been better off against him if it wasn’t for the fact that Zaira jumped at you at the first available chance.
“Shoot your capsules at him!” You ordered Fugo.
“I’m trying!” Fugo replied. “He is moving too fast for me to try!”
Fugo had to hide behind some trees while using Purple Haze to attack. Trying to get close enough so that his virus would get to Virone.
“You know, we heard you kids were the one who ended Vece,” Virone announced. Cecilo Vece. “You think I wouldn’t be ready for you two to come after us?”
“I expected better from you,” Zaira laughed. “But there’s only so much you can expect from a child.”
Before you could even respond, Love Thing managed to punch Tears for Fears aside and made its way towards you, giving you a sweet punch in the face, sending you flying into the trees behind. When you opened your eyes, the dark welcomed your sight. You couldn’t see. Zaira’s laughters echoed as you realised what was her ability. She could blind people.
“Fugo!” You shouted, he had to know. But Love Thing continued to pick up a fight with you and how do a blind person fight? You had no idea where she was going to attack.
Virone continued to taunt Fugo. He had dug up his past. Zaira knew of yours too. The both of you had informations of your past used against you. It wasn’t that big of a deal but Virone decided to make it his life goal to get under Fugo’s skin. “Aren’t you a terrible person?” Virone chimed.
Fugo was quiet, running away from him, trying to attack.
“Your professor was just trying to teach you, yet that’s how you repay him?” He continued.
“He wasn’t innocent,” Fugo snapped.
Virone laughed, “but that wasn’t what your family thought. Homeless unwanted brat. No wonder Bucciarati wanted you, he wanted more of his kind!”
The insult hurled towards Bucciarati was the final straw for Fugo as his anger got provoked. His eyes started to fill with fury and his mind started to lose its rational. Virone continued. “You’re so desperate that you’d run to anyone like a little dog .”
He laughed even more as his attacks began to hit Fugo bit by bit. The acid burns stung but he couldn’t feel it. He only saw fury. And he wanted blood. Fugo kept running, it was the only thing that he knew. Virone’s words didn’t even enter his ears anymore. He heard nothing but his cravings to ruin the man. Virone hadn’t even had time to realise his mistakes when Purple Haze got him right in the face and smoke covered him. Fugo stopped. He watched as Virone laid on the ground, his last breath stolen from him. Next, his eyes turned to Zaira kicking the life out of you, his next targets.
He once again dashed his way towards Zaira, ready for a fight against Love Thing. He was so blinded by anger that Love Thing wouldn’t do a single damage to him. His speed was unmatched, like his fury. Zaira was everything but relieved by the sudden change in ability, if only her partner knew how to shut up. Love Thing was having a hard time trying to block the punches that was being thrown at it. Zaira knew of Fugo’s ability and knew to avoid it for not dying a painful death. You didn’t see the fury on his face so you were glad to be finally free from the fight.
Fugo and Zaira were fighting further and further away from you. The cries were insanely loud, making you think that they were still extremely close by. Punches thrown and wounds were received. Fugo had been blinded by Love Thing but he was still furious and left fighting on and on. Zaira was helpless. It didn’t take long for the capsule to finally get to her and consume her from the inside and out. Her and her partner had the same way out. Finally the blindness was lifted. You weakly got up and saw Fugo standing away in a distance and called out to him happily, waving too. He turned around, and you immediately realised that something was wrong, especially when he started to run.
“What is w—”
His hands around your neck was not what you expected. He was strong, way too strong for someone with acid burns all over. They were minor but had to have hurt. It began to rain as the life was slowly being drowned out of you. You started feeling afraid of your dear friend. Nothing was working. You called out to him. You tried to hit him. His hands never freed. It was like he was a whole new person. He drilled fear into you in this very moment. Your throat was losing. Your life was slipping away in front of your very eyes. What had gotten into him?
You tried everything you could to get him off. You were too physically weak and tired to push him off. How was he this strong? What happened to him? What did Virone do to him? What kind of monster had Virone unleashed in Fugo? Was this even Fugo? He can’t be the same Fugo you knew. His fingers still squeezed the oxygen out of your body. You were slowly running out of it as your hands desperately tried to remove his. He simply wasn’t moving away. His eyes had nothing but fury. As though Love Thing had blinded it with rage. Was Fugo always like this?
It was terrifying to be in a situation like this, especially by your friend. There was no other way for you to free yourself unless you chose to die. That it until you finally remembered that you could use Tears for Fears to attack Fugo. Just like how he attacked you. You hadn’t got a choice, you had to do it to save yourself. Or else you would have died. Fugo was surprisingly dangerous, perhaps that was why Purple Haze was the way it was. When you tried to get Tears for Fears involved, Purple Haze entered the scene as well, attacking it and getting its capsule ready for attack. Fugo really wanted you dead. You watched the battle from the ground, trying to move Tears for Fears closer so that you could kick Fugo off.
Purple Haze wouldn’t allow it and kept trying to break a capsule on Tears for Fears. It kept avoiding the capsules and made a move towards Fugo. Purple Haze was just as rabid as its user. But at last you finally managed to free yourself as Fugo was finally kicked off. Purple Haze tried to finish you off instead but you used Tears for Fears to attack it at full force until it was finally gone. Fugo has passed out, and seconds later, you did too.
The both of you woke up side by side in Bucciarati’s house. You were immediately terrified of being beside Fugo and left the room. Narancia greeted you first, saying that Abbacchio was the first on the scene after complaining about how you and Fugo were on a date rather than finishing your mission. You went quiet, unsure if you should tell him the truth.
“What’s with the huge bruise on your neck though?” Narancia asked.
“It’s just…” you hesitated. “Don’t want to talk about it, going to my room.”
The door to your room remained locked for days. You didn’t leave. You had the showers in your room so there wasn’t any reason to. You just didn’t wait to see him for now, while you thought about what to do. Would they ever believe you if you told them the truth? Or should you only tell Bucciarati?
3 moons had passed before you willingly left the room. Fugo was out grocery shopping so it was the perfect opportunity to gather everyone and tell them the truth. They listened to everything up to the point where you admitted that you wanted to leave.
Narancia was the first to protest. “Fugo hurt me a few times because I couldn’t do math! He just need anger management, I am sure he hadn’t meant it! Just talk it out please!”
“It was attempted murder,” you said.
Narancia went silent, “please don’t go.”
“Are you sure?” Bucciarati asked. “Fugo had quite a few outbursts but I thought he had gotten better than the way he was, but I guess he still has a long way to go. It is your choice, I won’t force you but please be careful.”
“Live a clean life,” said Abbacchio before retreating. “Stay clean of the dirty streets, you don’t belong.”
“Don’t go please y/n!” Narancia begged as Mista held him in his arms. “Don’t force them Narancia!” He shouted.
“Are you just going to left y/n leave?” He asked, eyes filled with tears.
“I don’t want y/n to leave too,” Mista looked at you. “But I respect their decision. You acting like this is just making it hard for me not beg them to stay.”
“I’m sorry,” you apologised, holding back tears of your own. “I will be gone by midnight.”
You retreated back into your room, getting ready to pack your items. It didn’t take long. Bucciarati even came in to help and gave words of advice and gifts from other members. Even an apology letter from Fugo, for you to read when you are ready. You accepted it and thanked him for everything that he has done for you.
Fugo was sad that you were leaving but it wasn’t like he could stop you either. It was his fault, he could only blame himself. As the clock struck 12, he watched your shadow get smaller as you exited the place you and him called home. You left your family and best friend behind. Now you had nothing. He lost you. One of his favourite friendships. Who was to say he wouldn’t lose more? He couldn’t be more upset with himself. Why did he lose his temper? Couldn’t he have calmed down after killing Zaira? Did he have to go that far?
Why did he have to be such a person?
Couldn’t he be better?
Of course he messed up another good thing in his life.
He was everything but a human wasn’t he?
Could he have been better at controlling himself? He hoped so, but clearly he hadn't been when it came to you. That was his sole regret that he wished he could undo.
Everything would have been different if one thing have been different. You would still be in Passione and laughing away with Narancia and Mista.
But you were gone and he could do nothing about it.
It was good that you never stayed for the bloodshed that happened with Giorno, but you would never realised that you would never ever see your friends the same way again. For some ended up broken while some, dead.

Hi! Hope you're having a great day/night. For the intuitive answers, i would like to ask if i will meet a new love interest this month. Thank you so much! - GP ♎
helloooo😊 ty for joining bae, hope this resonates!
king of cups. ace of swords. queen of cups. the lovers. fear.
no, not this month you won’t. im honestly channeling that you’re going to meet someone this year yes, but as far as the rest of september (october too) you won’t. im hearing divine timing or at least divine intervention. you prob know who’s coming in? there’s a sense that you’ve been through this before as far as readings and channeling goes lmao. im getting your tea fr because i’m also hearing that this isn’t your first time getting this answer, “repetitive.” you’re impatient as all hell bae and it’s urgent more than it is emotional—hurry, hurry, hurry! do you aries placements because it’s def showing lmao, i promise that the wait will be so worthwhile tho. with the king and (emphasis on and) queen of cups being here, your next partner will be soooo emotional. that’s a basic ass word for how conditional their love will be, this is someone that you’ll dream about marrying tbh. who everyone dreams of marrying fr lmaooo.
they’re very sweet and sensitive, i can see big watery eyes and long sooty eyelashes. this person will be so pretty regardless of their gender, i can see them being the beauty standard tbh. i’m hearing “oil painting”, their looks can resemble those that were apparent in actual oil paintings. roman nose, thin or e uneven eyebrows, lips that are puckered and pink—mona lisa is coming in specifically. eccentric beauty, age of the aquarius. this is a face that belongs in period pieces, those films that capture the essence of the character through shots of their glittering eyes or freckled morning faces. lmao they’re very 1950s as far as attractiveness goes, this is def peaking at 32 and aging extremely well after that. saturn influence on their appearance as well? significance around their cheekbones or facial structure, this could be the touch of saturn on their ascendant (personal planets included). i keep seeing marlon brando so this could resemble their appearance or their celeb lookalike. i get old money around their finances as well, they’re either rich in asserts or properties (okay daddy warbucks lmao).
got distracted lmao (all these lmaos must mean they’re hilarious af, also getting they have sagittarius placements), but as far as their credibility as a spouse: 10/10 and im hearing across the board. king of cups is literal boyfriend material and with it being upright this is def a gift sent from above like it’s that serious lol. their care package includes physical intimacy, emotional dependency, love and devotion i mean?! they’re a teddy bear but human and it’s so cute. y’all will fall for each other hard, emphasis on hard (that’s another emphasis mention, this person is very serious when it comes to their commitments) so expect them to be a wish fulfillment tbh. hearing that they’re honestly close to perfect, you’ll feel special whenever you’re near them (my heart stoppp). i think the element of surprise counts before meeting someone as great as this so ima end it here lmao but your anticipation isn’t for no reason.

Bruno Fernandes poised for Man Utd honour Cristiano Ronaldo never had after Saudi snub
Bruno Fernandes poised for Man Utd honour Cristiano Ronaldo never had after Saudi snub Reports indicate that Bruno Fernandes is fully committed to Manchester United for the upcoming season. He is about to reach a new peak in his career as he is expected to be appointed as the team's captain under Erik ten Hag. Despite receiving offers from the Saudi Pro League and the possibility of reuniting with fellow Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo, he remains steadfast in his dedication to Manchester United. Ever since joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, Fernandes has consistently delivered outstanding performances. His impressive record of scoring 64 goals in 185 matches from a midfield position makes it highly unlikely that his place in Ten Hag's starting lineup will be in jeopardy anytime soon. Interestingly, there's a possibility that Fernandes's status at Old Trafford could rise even further. This comes after Harry Maguire revealed that he was stripped of the captaincy following discussions with the manager. Having already served as the stand-in captain for much of the previous season while Maguire was on the bench, Fernandes is now the top candidate to take on the captain's armband permanently. By achieving this, he would accomplish something that even Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, couldn't do in his two separate periods at Old Trafford. The Al-Nassr forward had an impressive tally of more than 350 appearances for Manchester United but was never given the opportunity to be the permanent captain. During Ronaldo's initial stint at United, Roy Keane and Gary Neville were the captains, while in his brief second stint, Maguire held the armband, causing tension within the dressing room, reportedly. Fernandes' determination to achieve his goals has led him to reject two offers from the Saudi Pro League this summer, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. These proposals were received by Manchester United about a month ago. In response, Erik ten Hag, the coach of Fernandes' current team, seemingly quickly dismissed any chances of interested clubs being able to sign the player who is expected to become the captain in the future. However, it should be noted that Fernandes' assumption of the captaincy is not yet confirmed and finalized. Marcus Rashford has the advantage of being in excellent form and having a strong emotional connection to the club since he grew up supporting it. He has recently reaffirmed his commitment to the team by nearing the finalization of a lucrative new contract. On the other hand, Casemiro boasts an impressive collection of trophies and showcases a relentless attitude on the field. Certain sections of the fanbase might prefer the Brazilian to be named captain ahead of Fernandes, even though it would require a significant change in decision from coach Erik ten Hag, who had previously indicated Fernandes as the captain in waiting. “When people dis fantasy—mainstream readers and SF readers alike—they are almost always talking about one sub-genre of fantastic literature. They are talking about Tolkien, and Tolkien's innumerable heirs. Call it 'epic', or 'high', or 'genre' fantasy, this is what fantasy has come to mean. Which is misleading as well as unfortunate.
Tolkien is the wen on the arse of fantasy literature. His oeuvre is massive and contagious—you can't ignore it, so don't even try. The best you can do is consciously try to lance the boil. And there's a lot to dislike—his cod-Wagnerian pomposity, his boys-own-adventure glorying in war, his small-minded and reactionary love for hierarchical status-quos, his belief in absolute morality that blurs moral and political complexity. Tolkien's clichés—elves 'n' dwarfs 'n' magic rings—have spread like viruses. He wrote that the function of fantasy was 'consolation', thereby making it an article of policy that a fantasy writer should mollycoddle the reader.
That is a revolting idea, and one, thankfully, that plenty of fantasists have ignored. From the Surrealists through the pulps—via Mervyn Peake and Mikhael Bulgakov and Stefan Grabiński and Bruno Schulz and Michael Moorcock and M. John Harrison and I could go on—the best writers have used the fantastic aesthetic precisely to challenge, to alienate, to subvert and undermine expectations.
Of course I'm not saying that any fan of Tolkien is no friend of mine—that would cut my social circle considerably. Nor would I claim that it's impossible to write a good fantasy book with elves and dwarfs in it—Michael Swanwick's superb Iron Dragon's Daughter gives the lie to that. But given that the pleasure of fantasy is supposed to be in its limitless creativity, why not try to come up with some different themes, as well as unconventional monsters? Why not use fantasy to challenge social and aesthetic lies?
Thankfully, the alternative tradition of fantasy has never died. And it's getting stronger. Chris Wooding, Michael Swanwick, Mary Gentle, Paul di Filippo, Jeff VanderMeer, and many others, are all producing works based on fantasy's radicalism. Where traditional fantasy has been rural and bucolic, this is often urban, and frequently brutal. Characters are more than cardboard cutouts, and they're not defined by race or sex. Things are gritty and tricky, just as in real life. This is fantasy not as comfort-food, but as challenge.
The critic Gabe Chouinard has said that we're entering a new period, a renaissance in the creative radicalism of fantasy that hasn't been seen since the New Wave of the sixties and seventies, and in echo of which he has christened the Next Wave. I don't know if he's right, but I'm excited. This is a radical literature. It's the literature we most deserve.” ― China Miéville Thoughts?

🍂 and 🌈 for all three please?!
ty for the askkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🍂 - what music does this oc like? due to my very limited knowledge of time period appropriate music, i’ll b answering as if it’s modern times and muggle times
nolan: mostly 80s music, sometimes a little 90s. never anything more recent than 2000. he says that all music is horrible outside of these decades and that the music of the world has gone terribly wrong and will never return to its peak in the 80s. he has a total god complex ab his music taste. people try to tell him that there are other good songs but he refuses to give them a try because “all music sucks nowadays”. it’s really hard to argue with him when he has an arsenal of seemingly unlimited good 80s songs, tho
vinny: vinny vibes with reggae. he jams with pop. he gets down with rap and busts a move for country. he headbangs to heavy metal and bops with alternative. even sad, slow songs he rly enjoys, he just finds them so pretty! he loves new things, so he’ll give any genre a go. as long as it’s loud, it’s all good.
anastasia: ana’s music taste is the most like my own, taylor swift, bruno mars, olivia rodrigo, more taylor, a sprinkle of kanye here and there. pretty basic but all the right vibes. puts headphones on and gets rly into the feels
🌈 - what does this oc like and dislike ab themselves?
nolan: nolan likes that he’s intelligent, that he excels in most of his classes, that he’s on the quidditch team, that he’s in ravenclaw, that his family has some money and influence, that he’s excellent at debate. nolan likes his strengths a little too much, as he’s so pushy with reminding everyone else of them. he dislikes that for all his amazing strengths, it seems people don’t like him much? he’s not sure what’s up with that.
vinny: vinny’s usually more caught up in what he likes about others than what he likes about himself. but, he likes that he’s good at charms. he likes the feeling he gets when he makes other people happy. he likes his curly hair. he dislikes himself for leaving his brother eli behind in a bad household.
anastasia: anastasia likes her talent for writing and skill at obtaining good stories. she’s verrrry insecure and generally dislikes her appearance, her humor, and her inability to have conversations that she doesn’t cringe at when she looks back at them.

”King Crimson” and its confusing mechanism (Vento Aureo)
Alternative title: “how it indeed just works”
「King Crimson」 is the Stand of Diavolo, the main villain of Vento Aureo. It has a sub-Stand ability called Epitaph, which was primarily introduced by Vinegar Doppio.
A mandatory introduction, just skip this if you are already very familiar with 「King Crimson」!
Ability
Time Erasure/Time Skip
「King Crimson」's signature ability is to erase a given frame of time; it starts from the instant the ability is activated and can be made to last up to 10 seconds.
During this period of erased time, only Diavolo remains fully conscious and is the only one who can re-adjust his actions.Other people will be unable to experience anything that happens and will continue to act as they would have. After the effect of the ability ends, all people other than Diavolo will retain no memories of anything that happened during the erased period.
After the allotted time frame, people will suddenly find themselves in the situation they were supposed to be in afterwards. For example, when Fugo asked Giorno for a soda, the soda was suddenly in Fugo's hand without Giorno ever actually handing it to him, when Narancia thought that someone had eaten his chocolate, while in truth he had already eaten the chocolate himself. (VA chapter 80)
There is, however, one instance where a person (Bruno) was able to see their double before finding themselves in their future position (which unfortunately has never been brought up again). (VA chapter 80)
According to JOJOVELLER, Diavolo and KC become intangible during time erasure, allowing attacks to pass through them, as the moment that the attack would have hit was erased. However, this also means Diavolo himself is unable to attack while KC's time erasure is active.
As a result, he often relies on the ability to avoid attacks and move into advantageous positions, such as the enemy’s blind spot, then directly attacks the enemy with KC's great destructive power the moment the ability ends.
He may also use said intangibility for a brief period of time in order to cause an attack to pass through him and hit whatever is on his opposite side. However, during his fight against Polnareff, Diavolo is also able to splatter his own blood onto an enemy's projection in anticipation of blinding them.
Forecast via 「Epitaph」
「Epitaph」 serves as a sub-Stand that assists and completes KC's time erasure. Epitaph gives Diavolo/Doppio the ability to forecast what will happen into the future up to ten seconds, using Doppio’s bangs or Diavolo’s long flowing hair as a projector.
Diavolo and Doppio often use the forecasting ability of Epitaph to predict any incoming threat, making sneak attacks ineffective against them.
However, the visions are incomplete and only show the final result without the events leading up to it (hence the 10s limit), and thus can be subject to interpretation. In one instance, Doppio could see himself on the ground with a severed human foot flying by; he initially thought that the foot was his own, but was mistaken. (VA chapter 106)
While the predictions seen by Epitaph are unavoidable, they still effectively warn Diavolo and Doppio against incoming danger, allowing them to steer events to lessen the potential damage, such as when Doppio realized a pair of scissors would form inside his throat, he easily tore them out in order to save himself. KC itself can prevent the predictions from being completed if it erases the frame of time when the prediction would have come true.
How does it mean that Diavolo can’t interact during “time erasure”?
Through Diavolo’s POV, he had shown how the "time erasure" process happened during his fight with Bruno, we can say that this is what is called “during time erasure”:
Diavolo used his "time skip" to dodge 「Sticky Fingers」's punch, but isn't this called "interaction"? That Diavolo is able to move inside his "time skip"?
I thought what it meant by "he is unable to interact" is that he cannot move or do anything at all, then what is the true meaning of "unable to interact"?
Based on the description from the JOJOVELLER, I think what it means by "unable to interact" is that Diavolo can't use KC to (physically) attack. Like in his fight with Bruno, why didn't he attack him and just dodge “during time erasure”? Why didn't he punch Risotto "during time erasure" and just dodge 「Aerosmith」's shots?
Therefore I concluded that KC cannot do two tasks at once: “time erasure” and “physical attack”, because both can only be done at separate times. His “prediction using Epitaph” and “time erasure” are also carried out by him sequentially, not simultaneously.
But what about the event when Trish's hand was cut off after the "time skip"? Or when the fortune teller's hand got cut off? Didn’t both events happen "during time erasure"?
To be honest, I also think that those events contradict what JOJOVELLER has explained, but only by assuming that their hands were chopped off by KC. However, what if Diavolo actually didn't cut their hands using KC? Yet using another unknown method? But we never saw him carry any weapons other than his Stand.
I think this mystery is quite impossible to answer, other than simply admitting that Araki did a retcon (the case of inconsistency). Still, by rereading chapter 102 (the fortune teller scene): right after the fortune teller realized that his hand was cut off (after the "time skip"), KC obliterated the fortune teller physically.
VA chapter 102: The Island of Sardegna – Storm Warning!
Your mileage may vary, but I have a feeling that Diavolo had not used KC to cut off the fortune teller's hand, otherwise why would he strike him twice with KC (during and after the time skip)?
You may say that he chopped off the fortune teller’s hand as a distraction, but why would he need “distraction” if he was able to kill him using KC “during the time skip"? After all he was carrying a briefcase back then, in which it was quite possible to keep a weapon there.
The same thing might have happened to Trish, we didn't see Diavolo carrying any weapon at the time, but given the fairly large arena (in the tower of San Giorgio Maggiore), he could have thrown it away “during time erasure".
But what about Narancia’s death? As he was impaled by the fence “during the time skip”, it can be said that he died by “getting impaled by the fence”, not because of a physical attack from KC, even though KC (Diavolo) himself is the one who put him there.
Therefore, KC can’t directly attack its target (with its own body) but it is able to move and do anything else inside “time erasure”.
Even so, I also partially think that Araki did retcon KC's ability and limitation so that whatever excuse my explanation about this will always be contradicting to each other. Therefore, I am not saying this as fact, but only as theory, it's up to you if you agree to this or not.
Does 「King Crimson」 really “erase the time”?
VA chapter 80: The Mistery of King Crimson – part 2
In Japanese, KC (Diavolo) did say 「時間を消し去て」”jikan o keshisate” which really means “erase the time” and then “I make sure that I will have everyone who jeopardizes my everlasting climax/peak to be vanished” 「消え去てもらう」or something like that.
Therefore, he really said that he erased the time and jumped over it/leapt past it, but by taking into account the scene and the atmosphere at that time, I thought that he was dramatizing his choice of words, so that "erasing" might not actually be erasing in literal sense, but still… the time (feels) skips due to KC’s ability.
Also, I was googling for any forums that discuss this issue and I found a very interesting one:
King Crimson (JJBA) does NOT erase time!
According to “Beatrice The Endless Witch”:
Diavolo causes fate to follow through unhindered for a period of time while he himself slips out of the physical world. Basically, everyone moves as they had planned to, unconsciously, while he himself phases through everything. Araki shows King Crimson dodging punches and Diavolo constantly refers to "erasing time" and stuff like that...that's all nonsense. I don't know if Araki himself wasn't sure what KC did so he constantly retconned it into ways that still made some sense, or maybe he didn't care about explaining it and he or his editors were like, "we'll just show some neat visual stuff and have Diavolo say one-liner to get the point across." It's possible, right?
I'm not Araki, so I don't know what his thought process was...but I'm guessing it was this:
“I want a Stand that can skip time forward - just like how CDs skip if they're scratched."
"But that wouldn't be beneficial to the user...so maybe the user is invulnerable to the time skip."
"But wait...if he's conscious during the skipped events, other people must be unconscious. Otherwise it doesn't work."
"But wait again! Can Diavolo just fucking wreck people during these events? Well...I guess he's just ethereal. He can't affect things." (which came the “unable to interact during time erasure”)
"...Well that's a great way of confusing people, but how does he fight with it, he just follows people? That's dumb. I guess he can see where they'll end up when the time skip finishes, so he can be prepared." (Epitaph)
"I guess that means other people can't phase like he does, because it'd contradict his predictions. This is good, he can use this to make people shoot each other or run into traps and stuff."
And that's how we got 「King Crimson」 and 「Epitaph」. It also fits well with his character (someone whose ability is easily felt by the entire world would be quite paranoid and need ways to avoid relying on its usage) and also does something that Araki likes in explaining real-world phenomena (short term amnesia, people spacing out).
Some people argue that KC erases the cause and keeps the effect except that doesn't make sense. Cause and effect are not two separate entities, but instead two ways of describing the same event from a different perspective according to the flow of time. You can't just pick and choose what you like to call cause and then label everything else as an effect. If you run down an alley and shoot a person during KC's time skip, you're telling me that you will end up down the alley but the person won't be shot, but there's literally no difference between the movement of your person across the ground and the movement of pieces of your skull as it gets shattered by a bullet. The CAUSE of moving your ass down the alley wasn't erased? Why not? Cause you don't want it to be?
I think s/he meant that “if you shoot a person” inside “(during) time erasure”, which the action is referred "cause", then “after time erasure”, the “effect” which should be “the person got hits by bullet” should not have happened, because the "cause" was already removed by KC so the "effect" shouldn't have existed in the first place.
I'd like to remind you that if Diavolo could attack people in time skips he would've done so against Buccellati, Polnareff or Giorno, but he didn't.
Hence my theory that KC can't attack physically with its body “inside/during time skip”.
People also argue that Diavolo hitting Polnareff in the eye with his blood makes no sense if time was skipped, but it does. Why wouldn't it stay there? It's no longer part of Diavolo, so it gains collision. And Diavolo doesn't erase time, so the blood is still there when the ability deactivates. Same with Josuke (part 4) when he used his blood as an attack, when it leaves his body, it's no longer part of him.
However, the reaction by “TehChron” suggested him/her to basically suspend his/her disbelief:
That's because you're misunderstanding how Araki presents time in JJBA. He presents it as a true 4th dimension, which has its own rules and effects, which he admittedly bullshits at times, but “Time” and “Gravity” are the highest natural forces he presents in the series. In effect, he treats them as constants across the mutiverse that exist as fundamental physical laws.
「Made In Heaven」 doesn't merely reset the Earth by infinitely increasing the flow of time from a single point at in Florida. Because what they are doing is manipulating time itself as a force of nature, rather than a concept.
Araki states that King Crimson erases time, and therefore is given the difficulty of expressing that in tangible effects, which is where we get "erasure of cause and keeping of effect", which is a nice way of summing up the ability in a way that we can observe in the series proper.
You say that cause and effect are interchangeable based on the flow of time, but that is incorrect “based on how Araki treats time”. I've explained it elsewhere when describing "relative time", but when a character gains the ability to manipulate time, they move under a different set of laws, much like swimming or flying.
Therefore, what KC would be erasing in cases where he phases through bullets are the "cause" of a bullet connecting with Diavolo, and as a result the "effect" of the bullet doing damage to Diavolo would be changed to an "effect" of "the bullet continuing along its course harmlessly". It erases a "cause" and as a result produces an entirely different "effect" based on that event.
As such, in instances where it appears that Diavolo teleports, he could use KC to erase the "time" experienced by his opponent. The "cause" of recognizing Diavolo's actions eliminates the "effect" of an opponent being able to react to him.
Rather than erasing time as if someone were scooping water out of a river, KC, and even most time-related Stands treat “time” as if it were a physical thing to be interacted with.
If 「The World」 and 「Star Platinum」 affect time by holding it still, then KC affects time by removing unwanted chunks from it. 「Bites the Dust」 uses specific stimulus to roll time back, as does 「Mandom」, to a lesser degree. MIH treats it like physical loop of some kind, and simply speeds it up until it loops back to the beginning or another desired part that had already been passed up. With alterations, if desired, naturally.
In the end, both agreed with this explanation. As for me, I think "time erasure" is more like "cause erasure" or even "causality manipulation", although only limited in removing a certain factor inside the "cause" (based on above explanation).
Does 「King Crimson」 have “universal range”?
I was also googling for a forum that discuss this issue as well and I found one:
Does King Crimson really have a universal range?
According to “Power That Preserves”:
Actually this is also a big question for me regarding KC’s range. And admittedly, I also agree with him/her. Logically, it should be really weird if we (the people) experience "time skip" several times around the world. At this point, it should have become a big "phenomenon”, not just a simple memory loss that happens to several people (who are aware of it) in one place.
The example brought by “noobthemusical” also makes sense, during Bruno vs King Crimson arc in Venezia, the rest of the gang who were outside at that time, not all of them realized that the "time skip" happened.
It is possible that not everyone realizes that time has just been skipped, especially for those who are daydreaming or who tend to ignore the events around them.
Others opposed him/her by referring to Araki's interview. Let's see what the interview actually was:
At the beginning of the interview, they did say about "time-based" abilities in general. However, when Shibasaki asked about the "range", she specifically asked about the "affected range" of the time stop, in other words: the range of this particular Stand named 「The World」! Hence Araki's answer which said that it is "all the way out into space", it is an answer regarding the "range" of the ability to stop time, (it should be) not the ability to manipulate time in general.
“Power That Preserves” has also understood this, s/he even admitted that a “localized time-stop” won't make sense, but for him/her, not for the “time-skip”.
You really think the writer will think of this and go out of his way to show us? The feat is there and the range is given, trying to break your head over it will not end well especially if the writer doesn’t care to show us the consequences of such an ability being used. – said “Tranquil Fury”
I think so too, s/he basically said again to “just suspend your disbelief, that’s a fiction for ya!” I also feel that Araki probably didn't think too deeply into this, let alone use the "real life logic". I think his main priority was that the main villain had invincible ability that makes it difficult for the protagonist.
They have tried to use their logic and that's not really wrong. But for me, they are the type of readers who prioritize the mindset "suspend your disbelief because it's fiction" or generalize the above interview by thinking that "the interview is about JoJo villains’ time manipulations, therefore the questions and answers from there are surely related to that".
What I regret about them is their lack of careful reading, in which Shibasaki’s question was obviously: “What is the maximum affected range when time is stopped?”
And of course Araki’s answer was about the range of 「The World」, which is universal.
They are very much the opposite of "Power That Preserves" who was being hard to suspend his/her disbelief and fixating on the "real life logic" of understanding fiction.
But the more interesting thing here is actually about 「Made in Heaven」, where “Schneider” and “zenieth” have said that the range of it is "universal", which is of course true, because in Made in Heaven arc, the effect of MIH’s time acceleration around the world had been shown to us. (SO chapter 150)
Localized time-stop doesn’t make sense (and impossible), so does “time acceleration” because time is universal, therefore logically as well, this also (should) apply to the "time skip".
Some have explained that KC’s time skip around the world to most people feels like a momentary "memory loss". But is there nothing dangerous about it (apart from those who are confronting Diavolo)?
「Made in Heaven」 has been shown to be an extremely dangerous Stand, given the impact it has had around the world:
SO chapter 150: Made in Heaven – part 2
One of the fatal consequences caused by MIH was this traffic accident, in which all vehicles were traveling very fast beyond the control of the drivers.
KC’s "time skip" that happened in VA often made people who realized it become shocked (the scene when Trish's hand was chopped for example), but at other times when the atmosphere is relaxed, those who experienced it just think of it as a momentary "memory loss".
But then, what will happen if the "time skip" occurs on a traffic? For example, when we are about to cross, a "time skip" occurs, will we be hit or hit something because we lost focus and didn’t prepare for a moment?
Then what about some jobs that require time observation (e.g. some researches or manufactures), in which it’s highly possible to notice that a "time skip" has occurred? Not to mention there are a lot of such jobs which require observation. "Power That Preserves" is not wrong when s/he brought up the lack of attention to "the law of common sense".
And I agree that we can't necessarily apply all of the laws of physics. That's why I think there can be localized timeskips without the affected area becoming seperated from the rest of the Earth, but King Crimson's power affecting the entire world and going unnoticed by the public isn't a matter of violating the law of physics, it's violating the laws of “common sense”. – said "Power That Preserves"
This is something that was very unfortunate in the forum, "Power That Preserves" was not entirely right (where s/he had difficulty understanding "fictional logic" yet proposed the “localized time-skip”), but s/he also had an opinion that deserves to be taken more seriously than simply "suspend your disbelief", "the author said so in his interview”, “there is fictional canon fact that you have to accept" and “don’t you dare to question the author!”.
This is the point where discussion can't really develop well, in the end, "Power That Preserves" did not get a satisfactory answer, instead s/he was bullied for his/her critical thinking. His/her critical opinion was underappreciated because of the mindset of those responders who were too accepting of everything that was "canon", even though the canon itself is “illogical”.
Unfortunately, there are many readers who have this kind of mindset.
We may not get the "right answer”, but had they been a little wiser, at least it might be possible to reach a conclusion that would satisfy both parties. I would like to join them to neutralize the atmosphere in the forum at that time, if only I had found this forum ten years earlier.
Coincidentally, I recently came across a fanfiction from AO3 that might unintentionally acknowledge the criticism from "Power That Preserves" ten years ago. Particularly, in this part:
TowerDogs’s Golden Redemption, chapter 24
“Memory manipulation”, really? But didn't Diavolo (Araki) clearly say that 「King Crimson」's ability was "time skip"? Do you seriously believe in fanfiction more than “The Word of God” (canon)?
Of course I'm not saying that KC's true ability is "memory manipulation", but considering some confusion and contradiction that indeed exist in the manga (Vento Aureo) itself in portraying KC and its time skip, this fanfic is more to explain about how to understand the mechanism of KC in its own language.
The fanfic also uses the same logic as "Power That Preserves" in that the so-called ‘time skip’ has a limited range.
Using the term "memory manipulation" is not too far-fetched in itself if we consider these scenes:
VA chapter 80 and 101
In which both Fugo and the hotel employee only thought that they forgot a moment and brushed it aside, but what if it happens when we are doing something like "observation", in which we were observing something moving like this:
Without blinking, we clearly see that the blood drip suddenly adds up against their supposed sequence (no longer drop by drop).
If so, doesn’t the excuse that it is a "memory loss" (as in the chapter 80 and 101) become invalid? Yes but actually no, because I think what “TowerDogs” means might be that Diavolo's "memory erasure" works by erasing everyone's memory in 10 seconds without leaving any details behind. People who lose their memory don't just forget about a single thing (for example: what they were doing at the time), but the whole memory for that 10 seconds (including what happened at that time and what they were doing at that time).
Then as I said before, the people who have the jobs that require high focus and observation are not just a few in around the world.
Hence, “Power That Preserves"’s logic which said that “when it happens to everyone in the world every time Diavolo uses his powers, this should be big news pretty fast” becomes something that should not just be brushed aside because canon.
And I also believe that the fanfic is aware of such problem as well (hence the “limited radius” which has been written there).
「King Crimson」in my own word
Although both interpretations from “TowerDogs” and “Power That Preserves" are controversial and might contradict the canon portrayal, thanks to them (and the explanation from “TehChron”) that I can get a better understanding of 「King Crimson」's true ability.
In order to be more accurate, I will leave aside the terms that often used by the manga canon: "time erasure" & “time skip”. These terms are what often misled the readers, if I have to interpret the meaning of “time erasure” alone, of course I would interpret it as "erasing the time elapsed for 10 seconds along with all the events (which contain causes & effects) that occurred during that time without a single trace", example:
Mista runs down an alley and shoots Diavolo “during KC's time erasure”, the outcome of KC's time erasure would be that Mista never ran into the alley and shot Diavolo in the first place as the events (which contain causes & effects) got erased along with the time (10 seconds).
To be honest, the above interpretation is more suitable for 「Gold Experience Requiem」.
What about “time skip”? The example of “skipping time for 10 seconds regardless of events (which contain causes & effects) that are happening during that time” will be like:
Mista runs down an alley and shoots Diavolo “during KC's time skip”, the outcome of KC's time skip would be that Mista already arrived at the end of the alley with Diavolo who got shot without seeing the process where Mista ran and shot in the previous 10 seconds as the events (which contain causes & effects) still happened and only the process got skipped.
But canonically, KC doesn't work that way, the result of KC’s time erasure based on the example above will be that Mista shot did not hit Diavolo and instead hit someone else (who should have been blocked by Diavolo prior to the manipulation).
In the end, I conclude that from several events that occur for 10 seconds “during KC's time skip”, Diavolo manipulates one of them (which is called "a cause") by removing several factors inside it, so that when the time skip ends (10 seconds later), the “resulting effect” of the "cause" which has been manipulated becomes "different" as desired by Diavolo.
During Diavolo’s manipulation, only he has the “consciousness”, as the people other than him will only feel the altered "effect" based on his manipulated "cause".
Still, Out of respect for Araki, let us just call this ability as a "time skip / erasure", it’s the easiest term to describe 「King Crimson」 ‘s ability.
「King Crimson」’s callback in “Hunter x Hunter”
Major spoilers of HxH!
“Hunter x Hunter” also made a callback of 「King Crimson」 through a character named Tserriednich. The Kakin Prince has developed Nen ability that has a similar mechanism to KC.
HxH chapter 387: Replay
“Similar but not the same” is the right word to describe it, Tserriednich also mentioned "parallel world" which for me could be a callback for 「D4C」 as well.
Unlike KC, in which time is noticeably skipped so that people affected are either shocked by the sudden event or experience a momentary “memory loss”, Tserriednich’s Parallel Future doesn’t skip the time at all, instead he just alters an event (a “cause”) through his personal “parallel world”. Initially, the affected people are not aware of the change and experience the original "effect" of the unaltered "cause", only then he surprises the people with the new “effect” of his altered "cause."
What KC and “Parallel Future” have in common is that both use forecasts for 10 seconds ahead of reality (Epitaph’s mechanism), it's just that Tserriednich’s forecast happened during the reality, but the future 10 seconds forcasted by Tserriednich are compressed. Tserriednich can also sense forecast and reality simultaneously (as if he is inside two parallel worlds that are being merged).
Amusingly, Tserriednich also made a reference to the initial mechanism of KC where Diavolo cannot interact during the “time skip”:
If you want to know about “Parallel Future” more, you can read chapter 387 of HxH, starting from page 3 to page 17.

how would the bruno team be jealous of your s / o fem. (I do not know if they already made this request, if they discarded it, but if not, I could do it when I'm ok)🙈🙈
Hi there! Sure :3 I decided to focus on the way they act when they’re jealous and not so much on why they are so -I personally think they all trust with their life their s/o, so it could be due to a misunderstanding or something like that-. This said, let’s go with short hcs!
How Bruno’s gang act when they’re jealous
Bruno Bucciarati
Bruno is not a person who gets jealous often. He trusts his s/o with his life, he has no doubt about their loyalty, so he never actually suspected she could ever cheat on him. However, he’s pretty attached to them and he can get a little jealous when she showers in affection someone else for long time. He wants that affection too!
When he’s jealous, Bruno tends to bury himself even more than usual in papers, grumbling when she comes to check him. If she doesn’t want him, she has just to say it! She needs to show affection to him to finally convince him to go back to his usual self.
Bruno is not one who holds grudges. Once the moment of jealousy is gone, it’s gone and he doesn’t think about it anymore. He doesn’t like to think a lot about it, as it could ruin their relationship. A mistake is normal, is human, it can happen, and he won’t let it ruin their beautiful relationship!
Leone Abbacchio
Leone tends to get jealous/resigned every time he sees his s/o in more than good terms with someone who’s not one of their relatives. He tells himself that he should have expected it, that soon or later that time would have come… he’s not a good man. One day they’d find a better man than him, he always thinks it, and every time he thinks the time has come.
By now, his s/o knows how to act when he has one of his “resigned jealousy” attack: she has to shows him the practical way that she loves him and just him. And so, even if usually they’re not a really touchy-feely couple, she holds his hand when they’re out, if they meet one of her friends she introduces Abbacchio as “my boyfriend”, instead of just “And he’s Leone”; she knows he appreciates a lot, that he feels… to belong to her, that she’s his home.
Even if those periods are frequents, they don’t last more than few days. Abbacchio also tends not to think too much about them, or, at least, he tries. If his s/o sees him struggle to let it go, she just hugs him tightly, reminding him that she has chosen him and no one else and that they’ll always be each other’s home. This usually relaxes Abbacchio, allowing him to finally leave behind his bad mood.
Guido Mista
It’s almost absurd to say, but, sometimes, Mista gets jealous of his own stand. The Pistols are adorable and very demanding and they often “steal” Mista’s s/o’s attention! Sometimes she’s so busy cuddling them that she almost forgets Mista’s here! And when it happens, Mista usually becomes grumpy and pouty not only towards his s/o, but towards his stand too!
Mista needs a bit to “recover” from his jealousy. A good method to help him to go back to his cheerful and chill self is to hug and kiss him! Mista has a giant soft spot for hugs and kisses on his cheek, those loud and nice kisses always manage to make him smile! If his s/o does that and pays attention to him, he’ll be fine in a couple of days.
Mista knows that holding a grudge would just complicate both their life and relationship, so he prefers to just let it go. All in all, the Pistols are part of him… so she was technically cuddling a part of his soul, right? It was like cuddling him, in the end! This helps Mista not to think anymore about it in a rancorous way; still, if it happens again, he’ll pout at them until they decide to cuddle not only part of his soul, but him as a whole!
Narancia Ghirga
Even if he comes out as bold and cheerful, Narancia deeply lacks of confidence when he has to trust someone else. He was betrayed so many times that everything could mine his trust on someone else. Rationally, he knows it’s absurd and it doesn’t make sense, but his subconscious doesn’t stop to nag him and, when it happens, he’s usually so grumbly and pouty to the point that he could rival Abbacchio.
It usually happens when his s/o seems distracted or too “busy” for their relationship. He constantly needs affection and attention, so, when he doesn’t get it for a while, he tends to sulk and and start to think that maybe he’s not enough for her. It all disappears when she comes back to him with a truck full of affection and she hugs him full force and speed, kissing all his face, making him giggle in seconds. How could he think she was about to leave him? She wasn’t that type of girl!
If taken in time, Narancia doesn’t hold any grudge. But, if he’s left too much time alone with his subconscious and doubts, those may intact his trust for her, making him constantly anxious, even if he doesn’t show it. His trust issues are bigger than what it seems: his heart needs to be handled with care and gentleness, it’s fragile!
Pannacotta Fugo
Fugo’s reasons to be jealous are a bit similar to Abbacchio’s: he too knows he’s not a good man and that around there are way better men. Even if he loves with all his heart and mind his s/o, he can’t help but think that she deserves someone better than him, deep in his heart; his s/o’s usual replies which say that she loves him and just him help to tame his turmoils, but if, for a reason or another, she isn’t here when he has one of those crisis, he sinks deeper and deeper in doubt and self-loathing.
When he feels like this, Fugo tends to be cold and to close inside his shell -and office-, mulling again and again, doing nothing more than fueling his doubts and sadness. His s/o is his light and joy and, without them, he feels… lost. Angry, so angry, as he was before them. It all stops just when she’s at his side again, taking him in her arms and kicking out of him all the darkness and the anger that were poisoning his heart.
Fugo is a person who tends to overthink, so he’s going to mull over it for long time. “Healing” from this dark period full of doubt will be a long and hard path, but, if his s/o is with him, he feels he can do anything! With them near, everything is possible, even winning over his natural sceptical behaviour. He always found hard to follow his heart and not his brain, but… to be with her, he’s ready to listen more to his heart than to his brain. For her, he’d do this and much more.
Giorno Giovanna
Giorno loves his s/o. He loves her with all his heart, with all his soul; he doesn’t demand a lot of affection or such. It’s his own brain Giorno’s real enemy, as it drops doubts over doubts built over things heard around. Giorno never received a lot of affection, during his life, so he’s scared to lose it all, to lose the only person who ever showed him affection… and when this fear reaches its peak, he could be get “jealous” over the smallest things.
When this happens, Giorno is no more the sweet and kind man his s/o knows. He’s just focused on work, he’s cold, he seems even as he doesn’t love her anymore… truth is, he’s just hiding, trying to escape the pain and the fear. His s/o is the only one who can bring him out again, with patience and gentleness. Her love’s warmth will break the ice that surrounds Giorno’s heart, managing to slowly bring out the Giorno she knows and loves, the real Giorno, her Giorno, not the regal and serious Don.
Those periods are, unfortunately, not just a single thing, but it repeats in time. Giorno spent all his life feeling like this and it’s not easy to change mind in such little time; his s/o has to be patient and constant and to have the strength to fight Giorno’s fears at his side, day by day. In the end, they both will be rewarded with serenity and a deeper and wonderful bond.

First Time Reading All of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, 4th Best
Trying to catch up on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure so that I can even the playing field with my friends, I’ve decided to list off which Parts I’d be genuinely interested in seeing the Anime versions of. So far my ranking includes:
8th Place: Phantom Blood (Part 1) 7th Place: Battle Tendency (Part 2) 6th Place: Stone Ocean (Part 6) 5th Place: JoJolion (part 8)
I said this one was a toss up between itself and JoJolion, but ultimately I think having a less bizarre continuity than Part 8 helped tip the scales in it’s favor.
Part 5: Vento Aureo/Golden Wind
(Because this one is the latest to have an anime adaption, and I have at least one friend who has not finished watching the series, I’ll try to keep spoilers to an even greater minimum.)
One of the problems I had stated concerning Stone Ocean was “it’s reverence for Part 3″ trying to be a direct sequel to Part 3 or at least try to elevate the “Legacy of Part 3″, which burdened itself onto the story of Jolyne Kujo who had nothing to do with DIO or his posthumous plans. It isn’t even really about Jolyne reflecting on the relationship with her father. The entire story is kinda weighed down by the continuity of being a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Part 5′s Golden Wind on the other hand strangely isn’t. It’s not trying to be a sequel to Part 3. It just... kind of ends up being another Part 3.
You’d think that that the story of Giorno Giovanna, the son of the major antagonist for 2 separate JoJo Parts would have a greater focus on his complicated legacy, being technically a member of the Joestar family. Or for there to be one character who had met DIO somehow recognize Giorno as the vampire’s offspring, resulting in a brief period of mistrusting the main hero.
But nothing really comes from being DIO’s son. There’s lip service to the audience about “Nature vs Nurture”, but ultimately as far as I can tell, the sole purpose of having Giorno be DIO’s son, is solely for the Audience’s benefit and for the Author’s justification of having a Joestar protagonist without skipping too far into the future.
And to be perfectly honest, Part 5 is all the better for it.
The lesson I learned through reading Part 6 was that too much continuity causes a lock-out for potential new readers if they just want to jump into any one of the individual 8 parts. So the less continuity there is, OR the less the story actively cares about the continuity, the quicker it’ll be to just enjoy the ride.
(References are safer and not the same as continuity).
As far as the Continuity of Part 5 is concerned, it starts with a cameo from the previous entry to serve as the point of view until the story is comfortable focusing in on the protagonist, then the cameo character is completely dropped, never to be seen again. Giorno is the son of DIO but his lineage is never meaningfully brought up in the story, and the Golden Arrows established in Part 4 as a means to grant Stands to individuals are brought back to justify an entire organization spread out across the country to have enemy Stand Users.
Incidentally the application of the Golden Arrows are fairly straightforward in Part 5, with a great “initiation” ritual that makes the organization feel grander, but I still think the Golden Arrows as a concept are a step in the direction of “over-thinking things”.
(While there are explanations for Stand Powers in Part 7 and 8, the origin becomes less of a focus and people can “just have stands” for narrative expediency. I’m sure by Part 9 or 10 we’ll finally just have X-men “mutants”).
The last thing I’ll say about Continuity is that Golden Wind probably fairs best among the entire JoJo Anthology (second only to Part 2 being a direct follow up on the story of the Stone Masks and Vampires as established in Part 1), and even though there are few characters with direct connections to previous Parts, it treads through familiar enough ground to become probably “the best version of itself”, or at least the “best sequel series”.
What I’m trying to say is: Part 5 is an argument in favor of advancing the continuity of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure... but Part 6 is an argument against it, resulting in the Part 7 soft-reboot.
But even if Part 5 is the “Best version of itself”, maybe even the “best JoJo”, if we’re talking the culmination of all these stories from Parts 1-5; I don’t know if I liked any of the characters.
When writing about Part 2, I said that Joseph, Caeser and Lisa Lisa had the best group dynamic/personalities, and I said that Part 8 had my favorite Stand Powers, but I think Part 5 has the best “Team of Stand Users”. To be clear I’m not saying I like any of the individual members of the Hero Team, or that the Hero Team has a better dynamic than the Trio in Battle Tendency; but as a group, a gang, a unit, a party, an armed force, a team, the hero cast of Golden Wind might be the most strategically cohesive and complimentary group of mercenaries of all 8 JoJo’s.
Like most JoJo’s will have a dedicated healer in the Party, but we’ve also got 2-3 Fighters, 1 Extreme Heavy (that was so broken that the Author had to kick the character out of the story) and 2 different Support/Reconnaissance members with their own unique fields.
They display the best visually engaging teamwork during combat, but outside of it I thought they were kind of “amusingly obnoxious”. Their dynamic/relationship to each other kind of reminds me of the O.G. Ninja Turtles from the 80′s Cartoon (this was probably the best compliment that I could have given them when it was sort of intended to be a criticism).
Also, and I feel like this is kind of a cheap shot, but I think their clothes are dumb. Granted Josuke of JoJolion is still the silliest looking JoJo, but Giorno is definitely a close second.
I’ll say this though, Part 5 character designs might be the most... “Araki”, of all 8 JoJo’s as well (lending further to the idea that Golden Wind might be “Peak JoJo”), and even I’m not entirely sure what that means. Like, all the Men have transitioned from being impossibly bulky to androgynous thin, everyone wears some degree of revealing clothing, their gunman in tiger pants looks like he’s wearing a ball of Ham on his head, it’s kind of distracting.
Of the characters that I might like, the closest I can think of is Bruno Bucciarati and Doppio, the former being the cool-headed, mentor type (the Piccolo of the group) and the latter for... okay I genuinely like Doppio, but he might just barely be spoilers for the production of the English Dub of Part 5, so I won’t say any more.
I like their pet turtle-and-living room.
I’m admittedly a little disappointed in the main villain though. He’s perfectly functional for getting the story where it needs to go, but I kind of wish there was more to him than what seemed to be just a reveal of what he finally looks like. And honestly outside of his hair colour, I wish the villain looked more like Trish, maybe even being a female villain or Trish herself. I don’t know, something to help justify why his paranoia locked himself away so completely that no one knew what he looked like, only for the audience to finally see his true form and... it’s just another dude. A JoJo, androgynous dude sure, but still just a dude.
Golden Wind might be the most Clever, most Cohesive chapter in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Anthology.
...it’s just not as fun as some of the other entries.
(Also could we maybe not have a stand that impregnates a woman to manifest a robot baby to attack the hero when your stand could instead be, I don’t know, a robot baby that attacks people without the r*pe?! Is that so hard to ask?)

🎨 Graphic made by @indiaisstudying: India is brilliant my pals, and I recommend checking her out for studyblr/artblr inspiration. My girl tHIRIVES.
The singular takeaway from this post: Do a creative binge. Much productive than a Netflix binge. Period.
Two months ago, I reached my peak when I coined the term ‘bood day’ (a bad to good day, in my article How To Flip A Bad Day By 180°). Today, puppies and kittens, I present to you— a creative binge.
*crickets chirping, that one dude in the audience scratches his nose and turns away*
…This one actually works but okay, we get it, y'all are bitches. But gonna do my job anyway– if you're a creator reading this, please do a creative binge at least once every two weeks.
I started doing these binges two months ago, and I've seen a VAST improvement in my creative energy. I feel my commercial voice coughing and saying hello to the mic, so before I start listing side-effects for a sponsored pill, let's dive into the basics.
🍵 Quick PSA —
↪ JOIN MY TAGLIST? If you aren't on this yet, please get on it, it'll mean a lot to me! By joining, you get a new article on lifestyle design & productivity every week.
100 Days of Sweat: This challenge starts TOMORROW (10th of April), so if you wanna hustle on your bod this year, join us! Accountability does crazy things.
Ever questioned your life, experienced writer's block, painter’s pain or blogger’s… block? (Narrator: aaaand she's back to advertising.) A creative binge helps deal with fixing exactly that.
“A creative binge is based off the equation of quality in = quality out.”
A lot of creators feel that they're supposed to magically create out of their head, and that's just ridiculous. It's ludicrous considering you don't know shit, read shit, do shit and watch shit.
Even to write fiction, my pal, you'll have to expose yourself to the world to know its ways, read great books and take tips (not to mention stock up on coffee, and prepare to cry a lot) before you start cranking out the pages. Everything you create is ultimately inspired by the Ways Of The World. (And that's a fantastic novel title)
So in short, you’ve got to consume content, to make content. And in a creative binge, you conscious choose content that'll help you create. Genius, I know!
Okay, but what if I'm not a creator?
Brilliant question! Wanna become more valuable and leave the people you interact with better? Take a creative binge.
Allow me an elaboration: Take a janitor and a neurosurgeon. The said janitor is paid much less than the neurosurgeon. Why is that? Is the neurosurgeon a better person? That's debatable. Is the janitor less efficient at his work? Again, debatable. The primal reason lies in the neurosurgeon acquiring more valuable skills than the janitor. Society rewards them by paying more since there are less folks who can do what the neurosurgeon does.
To recap: In order to be indispensable in the role you play (whatever it is, a student, calligrapher, CEO of the Janitor Club), you HAVE to become valuable. Grow your curiosity & know more than yo’ buddies (also bring more value than anybody else). And to become valuable, you consume value. Tada!
(And if you still ain't convinced, I'll pull out the Netflix card. You'd really rather watch shows? Or binge YouTube? Than learn a new skill, or develop existing ones? Question your priorities, my friend. Victims love entertainment, victors love learning.)
Cool, you're joining in then! Not that creative binge is NOT an entertainment binge. It's a value providing binge. What you ‘consume’ has to bring you something in return— whether that's creative inspiration, motivation or skills. *Swing arms* yup! We’re one gay, productive household. Someone remind Hallie to buy the groceries though, the Cheerios are going mouldy.
By my dictionary, a creative binge is a slot of time, 1½ to 3 hours I'd say, when you watch/read/listen to some good stuff. Basically, binge content.
THE 101 OF A CREATIVE BINGE
🌿 Basics:
I conduct one every week (usually Wednesday mornings), lasting around 1½ to 2 hours.
I'll also keep a notepad and a pen nearby, to take notes and jot ideas as they come. Again, this is NOT an entertainment binge, even though it's a chill job.
Sometimes I'll get passive things done (like wiping my desk, eating breakfast and taking out textbooks) while watching. We maximize our time.
🌿 What Do I Watch:
The stuff I watch falls into 3 categories: creative/humor (for inspiration), business/skills (for skills) & motivation (for, um, motivation). Fair warning though, a lot of the stuff these folks make overlap, but that's alright. This is just a rough demarcation.
Creative/Humor: some YesTheory, maybe some MacDoesIt, sprinkle in some Ryan Higa, perhaps an episode of a show with an amazing script, some stand-up comedy from my favorites. Or maybe trash that and just watch Sherlock. (Geez, Netflix, I hate you, I love you.)
Skills: Gary Vee, some artist channels, that random video on how to thrift shop even though I don't shop.
Motivation: Be Inspired, Tom Bilyeu, Mel Robbins and random videos which look nice.
🌿 What Do I Listen To:
Oof, I love music tremendously! If you're a pal, you know it's time to RUN when I come around being like, “soo, I was wondering what's your favourite–”.
Yet, during a creative binge, I'll only listen to stuff that 1) inspires me, or 2) is creative in a way I can't explain. Some recommendations!
Hype music:
The Score
NF
Imagine Dragons
Creative music:
Billie Eilish
Lana Del Rey
Sleeping At Last
Lorde
Conan Gray
Harry Styles
🌿 What Do I Read:
Usually the book that I'm reading at that point if I'm being lazy.
POETRY: It's my belief, but poetry is a writer's most powerful device. There's a novel to be said in a simple sonnet.
FICTION: I dig great fiction. PS, please read (and sob over) Away Childish Things, by @letteredlettered. It changed me as a person, changed my entire perspective about kids. I'm much kinder and softer now, and my pimples are gone. I'll literally never get over drarry too, so thanks lettered, love you.
ARTICLES: Bookmarked psychology, productivity & fitness articles on Medium. Maybe check out James Clear's & Gary Vee’s blog for new posts.
Because I wanna drive this home, here's what I did in my last creative binge as a concrete example —
Care to Note that:
All of the stuff I consume is pre-planned.
I add videos throughout the week to my Creative Binge playlist on YouTube, download albums from Amazon Music and articles for offline reading.
DON'T leave this to the last moment, you'll more likely pick entertainment vs learning then.
Watched–
Why I'm done trying to be "man enough"

A small poem about faith– posted on my IG, check it out!
New content ideas, like value chains (upcoming!)

Some business and life advice that might be useful later.
Gotta say goodbye now! (literally too... but post about it coming on 12th so wait for it) Try this one out, and let me know how your binge goes (tag it with #team conquer). Mine usually end with a bucketful of philo notes, a recharged left (right? psychology? idk) brain, and a fresh perspective towards the rest of my week.
This is the #1 strategy I've adopted to sustain creative energy when it's sapped all around by negativity and school & I promise it helps. No side effects, no sponsored pills needed. Thanks for reading!
