Shakira - Ojos Así 1999
"Ojos Así" is a song by Colombian singer Shakira and was released as the fifth single from her fourth studio album, Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998). Infused with nuances of Arabic pop, the lyrics tell of the singer travelling the world but not having seen eyes like her lover's. It was written by Shakira, composed and produced by her, Pablo Flores, and Javier Garza. It is sung mostly in Spanish, with a few verses and backing chorus in Arabic. It was later adapted into English by Gloria Estefan as "Eyes Like Yours" and included on Shakira's first English studio album Laundry Service (2001). Music critics praised "Ojos Así" as one of the album's best tracks. "Eyes Like Yours", however, was met with a less favourable reception, with reviewers commenting that it paled compared to the original. At the inaugural Latin Grammy Awards in 2000, "Ojos Así" won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and received a Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Latin Award in 2002. The music video won the International Viewer's Choice Award (North) at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. "Ojos Así" ranked on several charts in Europe and was a top-ten hit on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart in USA. It received a total of 78,8% yes votes!

Songs like sunlight
An mcyt battle of the bands au
Some people really like my snowbugs WIP and now I'm using it as an excuse to talk about my au because I like this au. (Btw feel free to ask questions about the au please I'll love to talk more about it)
CW: the entire entertainment industry, implied workplace abuse and talks about disabilities
World building/plot
SLS or The battle of the bands au is a secret life au that takes place in a dystopian world aesthetically based on ideas like cyberpunk and solarpunk.
After all of earth's greenery was almost destroyed as caused by the industrial revolution people turned to music and other arts to not only cope but to separate more from the technology that was destroying the earth.
Centuries later earth us flourishing with greenery (however their water supply is definitely not better) everywhere you walk you see everything from people on scooters to bikes to street artist showcasing their work to anyone who'll listen, of course nothing can be perfect and Companies have used the rising growth of music to its benefit.
The biggest music company in the world is Watchers Inc. A music company that has been booming since the introduction of their latest singer a masked singer only known as X by fans as well as controversies with former members... However this mysterious singer isn't their reason for popularity oh no it's how they choose their next talents.
Every decade Watchers Inc. Hosts a battles of the bands competition, choosing a selection of popular indie artist to compete for a prize, with the winner being offered a spot as a talent for Watchers Inc. Alongside their prize.
This year is particularly special with the introduction.. And reintroduction of some familiar faces now battling to win a grand prize, which band will come out on top? What secrets will be revealed? What kind of relationship will bloom? And which will have their failures and personal lives broadcasted live in front of millions.
Bands
As mentioned previously this au is secret life based as that was what was currently out when I first started this au do of course I enjoyed playing around with dynamics and how they all started theirs bands/careers.
Gem & The Scott's- indie/alternative music (can't explain but think of black sheep by metric. That. Specifically the one in Scott Pilgrim)
Starting off with gem and the Scott's, gem and impulse met each other because of a family friend leading to their eventual friendship. Soon enough gem had an idea, let's male a band. Both gem and impulse had a fascination for music considering it's how they became friends, so it just felt right in gems eyes. However they needed one more member and luckily she knows exactly who to ask.
Next thing Scott knows as he's relaxing at a bar enjoying his break from music when a random ginger woman runs up to him and ask to join her emo band. And he said yes for some reason so I guess it worked.
Mounders- folklore music
The mounders were founded by pearl a few months after her band's contract was terminated by Watchers Inc. So she decided to start fresh and gather some of her friends to set up a proper band.
Due to Pearl's previous success it wasn't too difficult getting back into business with some assistance from her bandmates and suddenly everything is good again.
The Roomies- pop? (Maybe? Like Oliva Rodrigo kinda pop not finalized)
The roomies aren't technically an official band Grian is considered a independence artist by many and switches around bandmates a lot because of his contract with Watchers Inc. However he trusts etho and Cleo the most and preforms with them as much as he can because they treat him like an actual person.
The heart foundation- Jazz (Dont ask me details I don listen to jazz music)
Couple of dudes work at a bar and play jazz music. I don't know what else you want they're just silly guys with a bit of PTSD
Big dogs- rap (because its funny)
Jimmy and Martyn were both in the acting business for awhile which is how they met. Jimmy has been and actor since childhood and Martyn only started during adulthood while doing music on the side. Soon enough Jimmy ends up ranting to Martyn about acting and how he's tired of it after doing it for so long so Martyn asks if he wants to become a musician with him and Jimmy agrees then the big dogs were born.
Scar & Lizzie- Lizzie is pop (but like theater kid pop if that makes sense) and scar is yet to be decided (maybe country?)
Lizzie and Scar are both individual performers both choosen through a popularity vote by the fans and watcher staff.
Extra fun stuff
This was mentioned in the WIP above but Scott is legally blind, however he was not born blind. He basically got the bad genetics in his family and eventually starts going blind over time. Its really not too important to the plot (besides some backstory stuff and self esteem issues) but it's an interesting detail that I'm doing lots of research to get right.
Lizzie and Joel are married in this au! I'm only bringing this up because my friend came up with a funny idea that Lizzie was unarguably the more popular of the two but Joel bragged about his popularity more.
Skizz owns the bar the heart foundation works at the boys typically do seperate performances and performances together while also helping around the bar itself however Skizz is known to hire small bands to preform as well.
The setting SLS takes place in is as mentioned very green but there are spaces around dedicated to paintings and art in general, like cleared up spaces dedicated to graffiti or street artists having their own spot to work.
Almost everyone in this world is a hybrid of sorts, I try to have fun using lesser used hybrid headcanons but some are just a bit basic. Is there lore reasons they're hybrids? No I just think it's cool.
Since this is a secret life au all the winners of the previous games are Grian, Scott and Pearl (they won together), and Martyn. Grian, Scott and Pearl had all taken the offers to join Watchers Inc. But only Grian remains meanwhile Martyn stayed independent and just took his prize and left.
On the topic of the winners it should be mentioned that all the winners do know each other in some way, Grian is cousins with Pearl and therefore knew Scott by association, Pearl and Scott are former band mates but are still close, Martyn and Scott are friends from highschool so pearl knows him by association, Grian met Martyn at a bar an became friends.
And that's all yall getting for now!

Ivy Chapter 4
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I just deepl and google translated my way through this because I wanted to know what’s going on, so there are definitely mistakes but I believe I managed the general gist of the story. Anyway, it’s just a fan-made translation solely for entertainment purposes. Morganatic Idol belongs to Cybird and ABC Frontier, Inc.
Tumblr media
Rina: Thank you very much all your hard work! It was a great show!
Ivy: Thank you. I'm glad it worked out.
Hugh: It was ... fun.
Jace: The solo dance part was a lot of fun, too.
Finn: I was right, wasn't I?
Xeno: I don't like it when he says it at the last minute every time.
Ivy: Well, well, it all turned out all right, so why not?
Ivy: Kawanaga-san, I could see a little of you from. I thought you were working hard!
Rina: O-oh, thank you very much.
(I can't believe you even care about me.)
As I was standing there, Sakura-san came running up to me.
Sakura Eito: Guys, there's a change of plans! There's a launch party hosted by the tv station, so we're going to attend that.
Ivy: That's a bit sudden, isn't it?
Jace: That's great, it means I can play openly tonight.
Xeno: What the hell is that? It'll affect your work tomorrow.
Sakura Eito: This also serves as a celebration of exe's music video being played 100 million times. You have to show your faces even if it's just for a short time.
Sakura Eito: In return, I'll make arrangements for you to take tomorrow morning off.
Finn: I can drink without worrying about tomorrow. That would be nice.
Hugh: Good night ... I'm happy.
(100 million views is really great. They sang that song at the live performance earlier.)
As I recall, it was a theme song of a tv drama, and it was broadcast by the same tv station that broadcasts today's music program.
(It's like the whole bureau is giving them special treatment ...)
(I'm sure it will be a spectacular launch. I have nothing to do with this world.)
With that in mind ...
Ivy: Kawanaga-san, you come with us as well.
Rina: Eh!?
Ivy-san's words make me panic.
Rina: Oh, no, I'd be out of place there.
Ivy: No, it's not like that. The rest of the staff will be there.
Rina: But ...
As I surrender, Ivy-san smiles kindly at me.
Ivy: I'd love to hear what the staff thought of the day. Right?
His expression, which seemed to ease my anxiety, made me consign myself to his request.
Rina: ... I understand.
(Ivy-san, maybe you were just being considerate ...)
Nervous, I headed to the launch party with the other staff and members.
(It's so gorgeous! Many of them were in today's show.)
The sheer glamour of the place made my feet tingle.
However, it was exe that shone more brightly than anyone else in the room.
Sakura Eito: I'll go and say hello. Everyone, please don't let anything happen.
Ivy: I'll take care of it.
Finn: Let's have a drink, Hugh, and since we've got the morning off, we should enjoy it.
Hugh: I need something sweet to drink.
Jace: They have some good champagne.
Xeno: Don't drink too much. It will affect you tomorrow.
The five were as usual, showing no signs of being overawed.
(It's amazing ... even though I'm just there, the atmosphere is different.)
The launch party goes off with a flourish, and the producer begins his speech.
The distribution of exe was also mentioned.
Program Producer: The last performer was exe, whose new music video has already received more than 100 million views!
The audience applauded enthusiastically.
Program Producer: Tonight's special performance, which was broadcast simultabeously around the world has been a huge hit!
Finn: It turned out just as I expected.
Ivy: Oh, good for you.
Hugh: I had fun ...
Program Producer: We're going to play the video now, so everyone can see exe at its best!
Jace: Heh, that's the footage from earlier.
The screen began playing the performance of exe that had just been distributed.
The audience cheered and everyone in the venue was transfixed.
When the video finished playing with great excitement, Ivy-san approached me.
Ivy: Kawanaga-san, did you also see the video that was officially distributed by exe?
Rina: Yes.
Xeno: Can you play that too? We'd like to see how we performed today there as well.
Rina: O-of course.
I took my laptop, moved to the side of the screen, and connected the cable.
(Here's the video of tonight's distribution.)
The video of exe begins to play on the screen.
The official camera work was shot in a way that highlights the direction Finn-san suggested.
(The biggest difference is the solo part. This one focuses on each individual.)
Male Singer 1: Wow, that's quite different from what the tv stations are filming.
Female Singer 1: The video here is cool too! It's nice to see the members showing off their talents.
The audience as well as the members of exe were satisfied with the reception.
Finn: Heh, that sounds good.
Hugh: I had fun there.
Jace: It feels really good to monopolize the screen solo~
Ivy: It's a different kind of fun than showing the whole thing in a pull-up.
Xeno: But, as a matter of course, it's a bit lacking not being able to see the other members of a group in a scene that shows each of them individually.
Ivy: Well, sure. But that's just the way it is.
Rina: No, you can see the off-screen footage of the other members.
Ivy: Eh?
The eyes of the gathered men widen.
Xeno: What do you mean?
Rina: The solo parts were shot with a camera that follows each of the members.
Ivy: Really? It wasn't in the plan, so why ...
Rina: It was in line with the changes in the production. Since we were short on time and I had asked for a backup camera, I was able to deal with the situation.
Rina: This is an official video for the fans, so I think it needs to feel special.
Rina: I'd like to distribute all of them, since we've added so much to the showcase ...
Sakura Eito: She suggested it to me before the concert. I thought it was a good move.
Sakura Eito: Each video will be made available as a special edition for the fan club at a later date.
Sakura Eito: Kawanaga-chan, can you play the other video?
Rina: Yes.
Images of other members were shown one after another.
Female Singer 1: I'm sure you'll be impressed with the look on Jace-san's face!
Male Dancer 1: I was just doing it casually, but now Hugh, your turn is amazing!
Male Singer 1: There's so much to see. As expected of exe ...
The fixed camera footage seems to be a big hit with the artists around.
I was relieved when Ivy-san looked at me.
Ivy: You really did a great job, Kawanaga-san.
Ivy: I was surprised that you were able to do such a good job even though it was your first time working on an unfamilar site.
Rina: I was encouraged by Ivy-san ... and wanted to do what I could to help.
Ivy: I see you're a go-getter.
Rina: Ivy-san ... thank you very much.
Jace: Heh, Aegis-chan, you're good.
Hugh: I think ... it's nice and easy to look at.
Xeno: It's not an original proposal ... but the tact with which you handled the sudden change is not bad.
Finn: That's surprising. I thought you'd fall down or make some kind of mistake.
Rina: Umm ...
(Falling down, screwing up, and so on ... I wonder if they thought I was that bad at my job ...)
(I hope this makes a little bit of an impression.)
As I was thinking this, many people were gathering around exe, perhaps because of the excitement of the accasion.
(They all look like they want to talk to exe. I'm not sure I'm being a distraction here.)
As I was thinking of moving somewhere else ... I was suddenly hit from behind.
Rina: ... ng!?
Female Idol: Ow, that hurt!
I turned around in a hurry. There I saw a female idol who had just performed at the live concert.
Rina: I-I'm sorry.
She stared at me.
Female Idol: You were talking to exe earlier ... Weren't you an AD or something?
Rina: Eh ...
Female Idol: If you're not busy, why don't you just hand out freebies?
Female Idol: Standing in the middle of the venue looking so tired and with such clothes, you would feel out of place and annoying.
Rina: !
I felt as if I had been hit on the head with those words.
Rina: Well, I ...
I want to say something back, but I can't find the words. I know best that I'm in the wrong place.
I couldn't help but to consol myself, and that's when it happened.
Ivy: What's wrong?
Female Idol: Ivy-san!
She blushed when Ivy-san entered the conversation.
Female Idol: It's nothing! I just got bumped by this AD girl.
Female Idol: I don't care, today was the best! I'm your fan!
Ivy: I see. Thank you.
Ivy: But I'd be happy if you didn't make a mistake. She isn't an AD but a very important staff member of our company.
Female Idol: Eh, really?
Ivy: Yes, and even if she was an AD, I don't think she would be out of place here.
Ivy: Our work wouldn't be possible without our staff.
Female Idol: Oh ... well, I ...
Ivy: Well then, I'll be going now. Come on, Kawanaga-san.
Ivy-san urged me to move away from her.
Rina: Excuse me, Ivy-san. Where are you going?
Ivy: I know a place where we can relax. Let's go there.
He took me to the VIP room and sat me down in a chair.
Ivy: Are you okay?
Rina: Y-yes. Thank you very much.
Ivy: Yeah, I got it.
His smile loosens my tense heart.
(... You saved me. You're so sweet to take care of me like this.)
(And you do take care of your staff, don't you? That idol girl was sorry too ...)
Ivy: You must be tired. You can rest here for a while. We'll be out of here soon.
Rina: I understand.
Ivy: Well, I'll see you later.
Rina: Hah ...
Alone, I looked down at my reflection.
(... I worked behind the scenes at a live, so there should be nothing wrong with this outfit.)
But ...
(Dull and tired looking? That's right ...)
I can't stop thinking about what Miu-san said to me before and what she said to me now.
(It's totally out of place for me to be on exe's side, isn't it?)
The work was going well, but my heart was sinking.
(I couldn't sleep much.)
(No one is here yet ... I remember they have the morning off today.)
Ivy: Good morning, Kawanaga-san.
Rina: Good morning. Thank you for your hard work yesterday.
Ivy: You too. You worked late last night, but you're not tired, aren't you?
Rina: I'm fine. Everyone is still asleep, right? Ivy-san, don't you want to sleep?
Ivy: I guess it's so ingrained in my body to get up early that I can't stay up late.
Ivy: Jace will call me an uncle again if I say this.
Ivy: That's right. Today's Sunday. What are your plans?
Rina: I'll be working in the office this afternoon.
Ivy: You're taking the morning off, just like us.
Ivy: Well, I'm going out now and I was wondering if you'd like to come with me.
Rina: Eh?
(With Ivy-san!?)
Ivy: Or are you still tired?
Rina: I'll be fine. But where are you going?
Ivy: I'm going to look at clothes at the store, but I don't want to go alone.
Ivy: Let's waste no time and get going.
With these words, Ivy-san led me out into the city.

The Path of the Dragon: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Amelia Jones X (Fem!)Reader
Summary: In search of your partner the Dragon Voyager, you run into Earth's heroes... On a distant planet from their own. Seeing a female wearing red catches your eye... And your desire...
Chapter Warnings: None
Chapter Key: Italics = Thoughts, +*+ = Time Skip
Chapter Theme: "Kyukyoku no Kyuseishu" - Kosuke Yamashita
A/n: Welcome to my first Amelia Jones x Reader series!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
*Amelia's POV* "How are we going to get past all of Zedd's guards?" You ask
"Including Ollie?" Izzy asks, her brows furrowing
Since Ollie's Ranger composition was altered, even attempting to recompose it back and failing, it had been a difficult time for you to process it all.
"Guys, we have a lead as to where the Cosmic Dragon Zord is!" Aiyon comes running into the lounge
"Where is it?" You turn to him
"We have a transmission from Mick, some sort of TV broadcast," Solon casts it onto a larger screen
"Good afternoon, I'm here live from the planet Akraal, with none other than Bajillia Naire, CEO of Squid Ink Inc." The announcer speaks towards the camera
"One of the greatest mining companies in the entire universe!" She boasts, "This right here, we have discovered this giant eye... A giant eye that strongly resembles a Zord... The Cosmic Fury Dragon Zord no matter."
Scrozzle shows his computer monitor to the camera: revealing a giant dragon underneath the crust of the planet.
"There you have it folks, up next, we have an interview with the monster band, The Jawsnappers," The announcer says before Solon shuts it off
"Why does this feel like it could be..." Javi sighs
"A trap..." You say
"But, if this Zord is real, we can't let them get their hands on it," Zayto states, "If I can get in undetected, I can use the morphin master staff and awaken the Zord."
"No dude, we just got you back, and you'd be squid bait if you're caught," Aiyon states
"So... Now what can we do?..." Billy asks
The silence was broken when Javi begins playing his makeshift drum set.
"Bro," Izzy growls at him
"What?" He asks
"That is really distracting," She sighs
"Wait... Distracting!" Javi smiles, "Who wants to start a metal band?"
"Javi... Are you okay?" Solon asks
"They mentioned having a band playing, so if we make our own band, Zayto can get in and out undetected," Javi explains
"But, Ollie can count," You add
"Once he counts that one of us is missing, he'd go for Zayto immediately," Izzy adds
Fern walks up to the makeshift drum set and plays a catchy rhythm.
"I get his drift though," Fern jumps in, "The news broadcast said they liked music."
Fern throws down a catchy beat.
"Problem solved, consider it my audition," She smiles
"Genius!" Javi smiles, "You're in!"
"Hold on, totally not in!" Izzy immediately jumps, "You're willing to put my girlfriend on an alien planet, basically in the line of danger?"
"Izzy, you're going to need all hands on deck for it," Fern tries talking to her, "Besides, Javi and I are the only ones who really know how to play instruments."
Izzy sighs, brows still furrowed, "Fine. But, just know that I am not entirely on board with this..."
+*+
The six of you begin to haul in equipment through the mining field, hoping to sneak in without any of the workers recognizing you as humans.
"Stop! State yourselves!" One of the two guard workers state
"We're uhh..." Javi begin, in his 'as monstrous as possible' voices, "Here to perform. Mrs. Naire had asked us personally."
"Mrs. Naire putting a show together for us?" One of the monsters asks the other, "It's so nice of her! Considering she never puts anything together for us hard workers. What is your band name?"
Javi turns to you all, contemplating a name...
"We're uhh... Meat... Chrome... Yeah! Meat Chrome!" He puts together
"Yeah," The other rangers begin to chime in
All of you began chanting your made up and name as you follow the monsters to the main stage.
+*+
Fern throws down some rhythms and all of you begin playing the music you all rehearsed.
Izzy threw in the lyrics that Javi wrote down, but add a real scratchy voice.
Over at the tent, Zayto whips his head around; making sure that the villains weren't entering... However, before he could even enter the cockpit, he gets knocked over...
Ollie walks around the quarry; confused why all of the workers weren't... Working...
"What is all of this?!" He asks
"It was so nice of Bajillia Nare to provide us with such great entertainment!" One of the workers exclaims
*Ollie's POV* You look at the band that's on the stage... You were sure that you didn't order for entertainment... There was too much to do in order to claim the Dragon zord first.
"Hold on..." You lean close to the lead singer
You yank the hood away from the
"Rangers!" You yell
Your henchmen stop celebrating and raise their weapons. The rangers morph...
"Seize them!" You order
You watch as they engage the rangers. You turn your back and begin making your way to the dragon zord...
*Izzy's POV* You hear a yelp... Fern's yelp...
"Fern!" You attempt to jump over crates to reach her
However, you hear Ollie let out a pained yelp as he falls stomach first onto the ground. As you take Fern into your arm, the both of you look over off towards the hill of the mine: a figured garbed in a cloak... They retreat.
"We have to get you to safety," You look at your girlfriend
"I'm fine Izz," She reassures you, "Just a little winded."
"Zayto, how's it going with awakening the Cosmic Dragon Zord?" Amelia speaks into the comms
The ground rumbles...
"He did it!" Amelia cheers
"Not quite," An unfamiliar voice breaks through the comms, "I'm taking this Voyager back... So leave this to me why don't you."
You and your team watches them as the new Zord engages a battle with two of the copy guards.
*Y/n's POV* "Alright bud, lets do this!" You jerk the right control module forward
The Dragon Voyager shoots a streak of fire at the copy guards.
"Come on! Is that the best you can do?!" You taunt the two
You disengage your globe from the dragon and allow it to coil around one of the two, crushing them. Re-engaging your globe onto the dragon, you begin to activate the final finisher.
"Lock on," You chuckle
You pull the trigger once the target locked onto the final copy guard.
"Dragon Break!" You announce the finisher
The voyager shoots out purple flames from its mouth, destroying the goons.
*Amelia's POV* You watch cautiously as the ranger dismounts from the dragon zord and stand before your team.
"Who are you?..." You draw your hammer up, pointing at it the cloaked figure
You watch cautiously as they reach for their hood, removing it from their head. Your expression drops as you take in their appearance. Human, but with horns... Dragon horns... parts of their skin harboring purple scales... Just... Everything there was to a dragon...
"I only wanted to find the Dragon Voyager," They explain, "Apologies for attacking you..."
"It's alright," Zayto immediately forgives them, "You were taking back what was yours, and you helped us liberate the planet."
"That doesn't explain your reasoning for helping us, or taking one of our zords!" You continue to be cautious
"My home was destroyed by what you call 'Zedd'." They explain, "I'm the last of the Dragon hybrids from the Draco System. I escaped on the Dragon Voyager but, at some point we ran into Zedd. We got separated from each other."
"How does the Morphin Grid know you're not a villain?" You continue to interrogate them
"The Morphin Grid?" They ask, "What's that?"
"The Grid that bestows the ranger energy onto people like us," You explain, "What you use to transform?"
"Oh. This?" They ask, lifting a small globe, "This... This power doesn't come from the 'Morphin Grid'. It comes from the power of the constellations."
"How does that work?" You ask
"Don't know, it just... Bonded with me," They explain, but shrugging
Your eyes narrow at them. You're not sure what to think. You could tell they were being genuine about what they were talking about, but it was that... Smug look on their face...
"Amelia, maybe we can trust her," Javi tries to ease your mind
"No," You say, "Don't try to persuade my decision... But, we'll keep you here. But, you are not to go into battle with us. We don't know your true motives yet."
"I just said-"
You walk up to them and stare at them. Unwavering.
"I know," You say, "But, your endgame... You got the Zord you wanted... The endgame is the real question..."
You saw the determination in her eye... Something about it just... Enticed you. You couldn't explain it.
"Say what you wish red," They tell you, "But deep down you know you want extra hands in your team."
"Fine..." You growl

CBN Asia’s Strategic Shift
CBN Asia, having been a mainstay in Philippine Christian broadcasting for almost three decades, has consistently evolved its strategies to adapt to the changing media landscape. As we see a broader shift away from traditional broadcast television toward digital and premium platforms, CBN Asia is clearly seeking to stay relevant and accessible to audiences across multiple platforms. The potential distribution deal with Cignal TV would align perfectly with this vision, offering a fresh and dynamic way to continue proclaiming Christ and transforming lives.
Cignal TV Inc., being the leading Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite provider in the Philippines, offers an expansive network and subscriber base, particularly among premium viewers. Cignal’s subscribers include households that often invest in higher-tier packages for exclusive, high-quality content. If CBN Asia does indeed sign a five-year deal with Cignal TV to launch a dedicated Faith-based, Christ-centered television channel, it could be a significant step forward in bringing the Gospel message into more homes, both in the Philippines and potentially across other regions. The channel would serve as a 24/7 resource for Christian programming, going beyond the weekly airing of The 700 Club Asia and offering a variety of faith-filled content catered to Filipino audiences.
A Standalone Faith-based Channel: What to Expect
The launch of a standalone Christian television channel could allow CBN Asia to provide even more diverse content, potentially catering to different demographics within the Christian community. Instead of just a single program or a segment, this new channel would offer viewers the opportunity to access a wide array of faith-based content that goes beyond traditional shows like The 700 Club Asia. Here’s what could potentially unfold:
1. Expanded Programming: A dedicated faith-based channel could include various genres of Christian content such as inspirational music, Christian documentaries, sermons, films, teaching series, children’s programs (like Superbook), and educational content grounded in Christian values. This would give viewers access to round-the-clock spiritual nourishment and create an opportunity for the channel to impact diverse age groups, from children to seniors.
2. Interactive Content and Live Events: The channel might also include live broadcasts of church services, conferences, and spiritual retreats, as well as interactive segments like live prayer lines and telethons, where viewers can call in and request prayers or support the ministry. Given CBN Asia’s experience with digital prayer counseling through its Prayer Center, this feature could seamlessly extend to the new channel.
3. Cultural and Localized Content: Since CBN Asia is deeply rooted in its mission to reach Filipino audiences, the channel could offer localized content that speaks directly to the cultural and spiritual needs of Filipinos. This may include testimonies, stories of transformation from local communities, and special segments highlighting faith-based outreach programs within the country.
4. Partnerships and Collaborations: This channel might also allow CBN Asia to collaborate with other Christian ministries and organizations, both locally and globally. Such partnerships could further enrich the content and make the channel a hub for viewers seeking various kinds of spiritual growth and encouragement.
5. Exclusive Content for Cignal Postpaid Premier Subscribers: Since this would be offered initially as a premium channel for Cignal Postpaid Premier subscribers, it implies that the content will be of a higher production quality, appealing to a more discerning audience willing to invest in premium content. Cignal’s Premier Plan 1990 is known for offering exclusive content and channels that are not available in lower-tier packages. This aligns with the idea that CBN Asia is transitioning into more specialized, targeted content delivery as part of its ministry strategy.
Implications of CBN Asia’s Potential Partnership with Cignal TV
The move to launch a premium television channel could be both an exciting opportunity and a challenge. Here are some key factors and potential implications of this future partnership:
1. Reaching a More Affluent Audience: By being included in Cignal TV’s Premier Plan 1990, CBN Asia may initially reach a more affluent audience who can afford premium content. While this may limit accessibility for some viewers who rely on free TV, it could open up new revenue streams for CBN Asia through potential sponsorships and advertisements, which could, in turn, help fund their outreach and humanitarian programs.
2. Long-term Sustainability: As television production costs continue to rise, and with declining viewership for traditional broadcast TV, the potential for a sustainable revenue model through partnerships with paid subscription services like Cignal is significant. The shift to premium distribution could help CBN Asia balance its operational costs while continuing its mission.
3. Complementing Digital-Only Programming: While the channel would cater to premium television viewers, it would not negate CBN Asia’s broader strategy of focusing on digital programming. In fact, the premium TV channel could complement digital platforms like the CBN Asia Media Center, Facebook, and YouTube, allowing viewers to access faith-based content anytime, anywhere. This hybrid model could provide flexibility, ensuring that CBN Asia remains relevant in both traditional and digital spaces.
4. The Challenge of Exclusivity: While there is excitement about launching a standalone channel, there may also be concerns about accessibility. Since the channel will only be available to Cignal Postpaid Premier subscribers, it will likely exclude a large portion of the population who may not have access to premium television services. The challenge for CBN Asia would be to balance exclusivity with its mission of reaching as many people as possible with the Gospel. Digital platforms will play a crucial role in bridging this gap.
5. Building a Community of Faith: If done right, a dedicated Christian television channel could foster a strong sense of community among viewers, who may tune in regularly not only for entertainment but for spiritual guidance, prayer, and encouragement. This sense of belonging and shared faith can create an impactful ministry, where viewers feel connected to something greater than themselves.
Both Cignal Prepaid and SatLite Not Included?
CBN Asia’s future standalone Faith-based Christ-centered premium television channel may not be included in both Cignal Prepaid and SatLite subscribers due to the nature of these platforms offering lower-cost packages with limited content. Premium channels, such as the one proposed by CBN Asia, are typically reserved for higher-tier plans like Cignal Postpaid Premier to ensure exclusive, high-quality programming for subscribers willing to pay more for added value. The decision to exclude these lower-cost platforms is likely tied to financial and operational considerations, as premium channels often require significant funding to maintain their production quality and exclusive content. By focusing on postpaid subscribers, CBN Asia can ensure the channel’s sustainability while offering a more curated viewing experience. However, digital platforms may continue to serve as more accessible alternatives for broader audiences.
No Official Announcements Yet
As of now, there have been no formal announcements or details about when or if this channel will launch. It remains a possibility that could unfold in the coming months or years. CBN Asia will likely take the time needed to carefully plan, negotiate, and ensure that this move aligns with its broader mission and vision.
In the meantime, CBN Asia continues to serve its audience through The 700 Club Asia and its various digital platforms. The organization has consistently demonstrated its resilience and adaptability, responding to the needs of the times while staying true to its core purpose: proclaiming the Gospel and transforming lives.
Conclusion: A New Chapter for CBN Asia?
The potential five-year distribution deal with Cignal TV marks a significant development in CBN Asia’s journey of faith-based broadcasting. It is a move that underscores the ministry's willingness to adapt and evolve in the rapidly changing media landscape. While there are many uncertainties and challenges ahead, the partnership holds the promise of expanded influence and new ways of connecting with audiences.
Ultimately, whatever the future holds, we trust that God will continue to guide CBN Asia and The 700 Club Asia. As they navigate this season of change, their mission remains the same: to bring the love and message of Jesus Christ to the Philippines and the world, one heart at a time.
Prayers for CBN Asia’s 5-Year Deal with Cignal TV and Standalone Channel
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and reverence, acknowledging Your sovereignty, power, and grace over all things. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and in You, we place all our hopes, dreams, and plans. Today, Lord, we lift up CBN Asia and the exciting opportunity of a five-year distribution deal in partnership with Cignal TV. We believe that this partnership and the potential launch of a standalone, Faith-based, Christ-centered premium television channel is part of Your divine plan to extend Your Kingdom and to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ into even more homes and hearts.
Father, we thank You for the vision that You have entrusted to the leaders of CBN Asia, a vision that aligns with Your Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. We ask that You bless this new endeavor, guiding every decision and every step in accordance with Your will. We pray for Your wisdom to rest upon all those involved in the negotiations, planning, and execution of this partnership. May the leadership teams of both CBN Asia and Cignal TV seek Your face in every aspect of this project, trusting that You will lead them down the right path for Your glory.
Lord, we lift up the future television channel that is being planned. We ask that You consecrate it for Your purposes, that it would be a beacon of light and hope in a world that so desperately needs to hear Your truth. We pray that this channel would be filled with content that reflects Your heart, and that it would be a powerful tool to proclaim Your love, grace, and salvation. May it serve as a platform to reach not only the faithful but also those who are lost, hurting, and in need of Your healing touch.
We ask for Your provision, Lord. We know that launching and sustaining a premium channel requires significant resources, both financially and spiritually. But we also know that You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. We ask that You open the doors to every resource that is needed, from financial support to talented and anointed individuals who will contribute to the content, production, and outreach of this channel. Let nothing hinder the work that You have set in motion, and may all the glory and honor belong to You.
Father, we pray specifically for the viewers of this future channel. Prepare the hearts of those who will tune in, whether they are seeking You intentionally or simply come across the channel by chance. We ask that the programming would speak directly to their spirits, and that lives would be transformed by the power of Your Holy Spirit. May this channel serve as a conduit for miracles, healing, restoration, and spiritual awakening. Let testimonies of faith, redemption, and breakthrough arise from the viewers, as they encounter Your presence through the messages, teachings, and stories shared.
Lord, we also ask for favor with the Cignal TV Postpaid Premier subscribers who will have access to this channel. May it become a cherished source of spiritual encouragement and inspiration in their lives. We pray that this premium offering would not be seen as just another entertainment option, but as a sacred space where people can encounter You in a real and personal way. Let the channel draw families together in prayer, worship, and learning about Your Word.
We also pray for the sustainability of this channel, Lord. We ask that it not only launch successfully but that it thrive and grow in influence over the five-year period and beyond. Protect this endeavor from any attacks of the enemy, any financial setbacks, or any logistical challenges. Instead, let it flourish under Your mighty hand, expanding its reach and touching more lives than we could ever imagine.
Finally, Father, we commit CBN Asia into Your hands. Thank You for the many years of faithful service that this ministry has provided, both in the Philippines and around the world. We believe that this new chapter with Cignal TV is part of the greater work You are doing in and through CBN Asia. Strengthen the leaders, staff, and supporters of CBN Asia as they pursue this vision. Renew their passion and commitment to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. May they walk in boldness, creativity, and humility as they seek to honor You in all that they do.
We entrust every detail of this partnership and future launch to You, confident that You who began a good work will carry it on to completion. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done through this television channel, as it is in heaven. We declare success, provision, and supernatural favor in Jesus' mighty name.
In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray all of these things with full faith and expectancy. Amen.

{ OOC / HC } Broadcasting From Beyond The Grace: Death Inc. by Motionless In White
This is a little bit of a silly one. There's no deeper meaning to it other than, "hehe this song could be broadcasted from Alastor's radio tower" and I just think that's neat. Even though, he probably has never heard a heavy metal song in his life or even likes that kind of music.
'We are the weirdos in your stereo,' 'Disco freak show, Death Incorporated,' 'We are the weirdos in your microphone,' 'Supernatural, Death Incorporated!'

It was an “emotionally wrenching and heart felt” performance.
“Surrounded by burning candles, performing on a grand piano and accompanied by a small orchestra of violins,” his rendition of this famous song “spoke to many of us who were suffering from the terrible tragedies in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.”
It was just days after 9/11, when Neil Young performed the iconic song, according to a site dedicated to Neil Young News.
Although the song was banned from radio in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, “because envisioning a world where we all got along was at odds with the public demand for bloody justice,” according to Consequence, Young believed it was the right song to sing.
Pulse Magazine wrote that Young's performance of "Imagine" on the Benefit telecast was "one of those moments you never forget."
“When disaster strikes, musicians respond the way they know best: with song,” wrote Katy Waldman of Slate. “As composer Leonard Bernstein said three days after John F. Kennedy was assassinated, ‘This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.’”
“In times of trouble and grief, there is one song that millions of people turn to for inspiration and solace: John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s ‘Imagine’,” according to writer Martin Chilton.
The “Imagine” album was released on September 9, 1971, touching “the world with its hopeful message about the need for global understanding,” wrote Sari Rosenberg.
This is a new story on the Peace Page.
~~~~~
“For nearly 50 years, credit for this song - "Imagine" - has gone to one writer - John Lennon,” according to NPR.
That changed in 2017, after Lennon himself admitted his wife Yoko Ono should receive co-credit. Lennon explained in 1980 “a lot of the lyric and the concept came from Yoko.”
“Ono's 1964 book of conceptual poetry, ‘Grapefruit,’ contained verses like, imagine clouds dripping and imagine goldfish swimming across the sky. She also contributed to the song's theme of a world without borders or religion pulling people apart,” according to NPR’s Neda Ulaby.
In an interview with David Sheff, shortly before his death in December 1980, Lennon also shared that Dick Gregory had given him and Ono a Christian Prayer-book which had inspired him to write the track. “The concept of positive prayer…If you can imagine a world at peace, with no denominations of religion – not without religion but without this my God-is-bigger-than-your-God thing – then it can be true.”
“When ‘Imagine’ was released, John Lennon said that the world was too focused on trivialities and ‘the thing we should be talking about is the violence that goes on in this society.’ It reached No. 1 following Lennon’s murder in December 1980 and entered the UK charts again in 2012 after Emeli Sandé recorded a cover for the 2012 London Olympics,” according to writer Martin Chilton.
“Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ is arguably the most loved song of all time,” according to writer Joe Taysom. “The track captures Lennon crying out for a fairer world . . . As the decades go on, ‘Imagine’ has morphed into a tragically appropriate tonic to whatever travesty is currently tearing the world apart.”
“It’s not surprising that musicians turn to this particular work in the aftershocks of tragedy,” according to Waldman. “For one thing, ‘Imagine’ is a song that musicians continually turn to, period: The Broadcast Media Inc. found it to be one of the most covered songs of the 20th century. Its simple, versatile structure has seduced and inspired hundreds of artists, among them Lady Gaga, Emeli Sande, Etta James, Davie Bowie, Pink, Eva Cassidy, and The Persuasions.”
More than 200 artists have performed or covered the song, including Joan Baez, Elton John, Diana Ross, Peter Gabriel, Melissa Etheridge, Dave Matthews, Dolly Parton, Seal, , India.Arie, John Legend, and Julian Lennon.
“The ritual arguably began on Dec. 9, 1980, when Queen covered the song at the Wembley Arena, one day after Lennon died. Stevie Wonder played it during the closing ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics to honor lives lost in the Centennial Olympic Park bombing. . . . In 2004, Madonna joined the ranks of “Imagine”-eers when she reinterpreted Lennon’s ballad at an aid concert for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami.”
“Though the song was banned from radio in the immediate aftermath of 9/11,“Neil Young recognized its potency, singing it at a memorial concert, ‘America: Tribute To Heroes’”, according to Chilton. “Coldplay performed a version after the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015. Following discord around North Korea in 2018, ‘Imagine’ was the natural choice for a group of Korean musicians to perform at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.”
“It’s now become the go-to song when it comes to grief or mourning,” wrote Taysom. “This is down to the tangible sense of hope that rings out from ‘Imagine’ and an overriding feeling that everything will eventually be okay.”
~~~~~
“It returns to us most bittersweetly when something bad happens, when we are casting about for answers and consolation,” wrote Waldman. “The writer John Blaney called ‘Imagine’ a ‘humanistic paean for the people,’ a kind of secular prayer. Rolling Stone described it as ‘22 lines of graceful, plain-spoken faith in the power of a world, united in purpose, to repair and change itself.’”
“The song also derives considerable power from its historical context. Lennon, shot down before his time, reminds us that the universe can run ramshod over idealistic people. That knowledge makes ‘Imagine’’s plea for peace and brotherhood all the more poignant. On the other hand, the fact that the song persists, even though Lennon is gone, speaks to the enduring strength of his fantasy. If ‘Imagine’ captures the fragility of our hope after a violent or destructive event, it also reveals its tenacity.”
The legacy of the song was most perfectly summarized by President Jimmy Carter, who noted: “In many countries around the world — my wife and I have visited about 125 countries — you hear John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’ used almost equally with national anthems.”
After Neil Young completed his rendition of “Imagine” after 9/11, reports were he “appeared to be on the verge of tears.”
Chilton says, “Decades after its original release, this popular music masterpiece, a model of simplicity, continues to inspire people of all races and creeds, offering the listener a momentary respite of hope in a troubled world, especially in the beautiful lines:
‘You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.’”

It's 1988 and Steve is reluctantly watching Saturday Night Live with Eddie and Robin. It's not bad it's just not his kind of humor and his high is wearing off. Suddenly these two weird dudes come on screen talking about metal music, babes in the form of a public access show and Steve doesn't know why but he thinks Eddie could do that. Sure it's a comedy sketch but why not? He tells Eddie his thought the next day over breakfast and Eddie just rolls his eyes.
"What would I even make a show about?"
"I don't know, maybe dungeons and dragons? You love talking about it. You play regularly. And maybe people can call in to be those side characters you always make me come up with."
"You mean an NPC?"
"Yes those. But I guess it's a dumb idea."
Eddie doesn't agree one way or the other but the idea doesn't leave his brain.
Two weeks later he finds himself at the local station asking about the requirements.
Three months later Eddie has his setup done and has enlisted a few regular campaign members to be his adventuring party. His first show goes over the basics of character sheets and doesn't think anyone is watching.
Except the following week he spends the first twenty minutes answering viewer calls about the ethics of rerolls and the difference between intellect and wisdom. It's just the energy he needs to keep going and soon Eddie is broadcasting his dungeons and dragons show every other week on Chicago public access.
Steve rarely goes to the studio, preferring to watch Eddie from home as he's cooking dinner. He records every show because he genuinely thinks Eddie might be on to something.
A year into the show a local convention invites Eddie to do a panel and a year after that there's a letter from Tactical Studies Rules, Inc.
Eddie worries it's a cease and desist but it's the opposite. It's a thank you letter for helping spread the games and an open invitation for Eddie to come to the headquarters. Included in the envelope is a thank you card from by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Steve frames it the same day because Eddie keeps staring at it.
The show goes on through the 90s taking breaks here and there for life. There is a steady underground market for bootleg recordings among fans that are out of the city. In the late mid-90s Eddie caves and let's Dustin make him a website complete with forum for him to chat with fans.
In 2006 Eddie begins to put his show on YouTube in small 10 minute bites and when the upload limit increases Steve secretly starts posting older videos from the 90s fans go wild for it.
In 2015 Eddie watches the launch of Critical Role and is pleased to see the torch will continue once he decides to retire.

This 1994 article in Broadcasting+Cable, a trade magazine, is the only one I can think of that covers the entire sweep of my media career. That is, up through the first phase of producing cartoons. But, the writer (unidentified, sorry) touches on my independent record production era, the promotion and branding work at MTV, the branding company Alan Goodman and I started to work with  Nickelodeon and MTV, and then, Hanna-Barbera Cartoons. It’s before the internet age, of course, so no MTV Networks Online, Next New Networks or Frederator Networks.
Thanks go to Hanna-Barbera’s head of public relations, Richard Lewis, who thought Fifth Estate could be suckered into profiling a polymath.
Broadcasting + Cable Magazine June 27, 1994
Fifth Estater: Fred Seibert
Fred Seibert's rise from cutting jazz albums on the cheap to the presidency of children's television powerhouse Hanna-Barbera Inc. is evidence that guts and a willingness to challenge assumptions can pay off.
But Seibert faces a challenge large enough for even his high standards: returning once-dominant cartoon factory Hanna-Barbera to its former glory under new owner Turner Broadcasting Systems.
A musical background (piano, flute and accordion) and the lure of free records led Seibert, a student at Columbia University to join the campus radio station, WKCR-FM, in 1969. Seibert spent the next four years as disk jockey, writer, producer and working "nearly every other job" at the station. Then Seibert set up his own jazz and blues label, Oblivion Records, out of the station's back office.
Finding the label more interesting than his history and chemistry studies, he left Columbia before graduating and devoted his energies to producing records.
However, Seibert acts such as Mississippi Fred McDowell, Cecil Taylor and Hank Jones (who was nominated for a Grammy for one Seibert-produced album) never hit a chord with the masses. Seibert served as a tour and sound manager with a jazz orchestra to support himself.
Fortunately for an impoverished Seibert, a guardian angel intervened. Dale Pon, vice president of creative services, Storer Radio group, was pleased with Seibert's work as a freelance radio engineer and persuaded him to join the company in 1978 as a promotion assistant, first in Los Angeles and then back in New York.
Two years later, in 1980, Pon recommended Seibert for the position of promotion manager with the nascent Movie Channel premium cable service, then owned by American Express and Warner Communications.
A year later, when The Movie Channel launched a novel music cable channel called MTV, Seibert found himself in the catbird seat as the only Movie Channel executive with a music background.
Once appointed to head MTV's on-air promotion effort, Seibert quickly realized the revolutionary potential of the channel and led a group that rewrote the rules of television promotion. Rather than promoting individual shows, Seibert and his team worked to establish the identity of the channel with such devices as the no-famous rotating “M” logo.
"Fred had taste,'' says his former boss, Bob Pittman, who was vice president of programming at The Movie Channel and now chairman of Time Warner’s Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park division. “He was on the cut-ting edge of where things were before we got there. He went against conventional wisdom… That was important because we had no money: originality was all we had.”
President, Hanna-Barbera, Inc., Los Angeles; born September 15, 1951, New York; attended Columbia University, New York; producer/disc jockey/writer, WKCR-FM, New York 1969-73; self-employed record producer and tour manager, 1973-78; advertising and promotion assistant, later manager, Storer Radio, Los Angeles, New York, 1978-80; promotion manager, The Movie Channel, New York, 1980; vice president, promotion and production, Movie Channel and MTV, 1981-83; co-owner, Fred/Alan, Inc., New York, 1983-92; current position since February 1992.
Then, in 1983, as vice president of creative services for Warner-Amex, now MTV Networks– Seibert abruptly quit after finding his job increasingly support oriented and less entrepreneurial. He also was disappointed that he had not been rewarded for his role in launching the rapidly expanding music channel.
Seibert and MTV creative director Alan Goodman –now Seibert’s brother-in-law– formed Fred/Alan, a programming and marketing consulting firm for radio, television and cable.
After MTV's wrath at the pair's departure subsided, Seibert and Goodman designed a promotional campaign that helped fledgling children's network Nickelodeon, owned by MTV, move from dead last among cable networks to first place in six months, again by stressing network identity over individual programs. The pair also helped create and promote the Nick at Nite sitcom block.
Finding that the success of the agency was forcing them into more mundane activities, the partners decided to dissolve the business in February 1992. A day after leaving, Turner Entertainment President Scott Sassa called and offered Seibert the presidency of Turner's recently acquired Hanna-Barbera studio.
Now, Seibert is stoking the creative engines at the company. The studio is implementing a six-year plan to promote a different group of its classic characters each year, beginning with The Flintstones this year.
Next year it will be '60s series The Adventures of Jonny Quest. Efforts include producing a live-action feature film based on the series, a two-hour animated movie for Turner Network Television and a new animated Jonny Quest show for syndication in fall 1996. The division also will begin regular production of animated feature films.
The company also has stepped up production of syndicated projects by launching weekly this season, 2 Stupid Dogs and SWAT Kats, both distributed by Turner Program Services.
The company in October began producing 48 shorts for Turner's Cartoon Network, designed to entice top cartoon producers to experiment with radical new cartoon concepts in flexible seven-minute segments. "If you attract the top talent, you will get the hits and the money will follow," Seibert says. -DT
