I love Teddy with my whole being, but I do feel that not including his death in the show was detrimental to Show!Billy’s development. Losing the true father figure of his life sent him into a spiral and added so many layers to his character and how he continued to fight his addiction.
I think not including it made Show!Billy a little more shallow in his choices at the end.
Maybe. I don’t know.

I just finished up watching Glitch, and omg was it satisfying. I was thinking, “You know I think this is the first kdrama I’ve watched featuring aliens… there had to have been another, I’ve watched so many…. Oh wait no there was Duty After School… but that show doesn’t count.” For those who haven’t seen my thoughts on Duty After School, you can read it here. I actively try not to remember that show bc it def traumatized me, and not in a good way.
Long story short, the plot of Glitch without too many spoilers is: the main gal can see aliens (however she does her best to ignore them) and believes her ex-boyfriend has gotten abducted/kidnapped by aliens. On her journey to find answers, she runs into a group of believers who become trusted allies. Seeking even more answers, they discover a cult whose religion seems to be about aliens. Chaos ensues. Playing the female lead as Ji-Hyo is Jeon Yeo Bin, who also played the amazing Cha-Young in Vincenzo, and Lee Eun Jung in Be Melodramatic/Melo Is My Nature. Both were other fantastic shows that I suggest you watch if you haven’t.
Vincenzo of course is about a character who was adopted in Korea by a mob boss from Italy (who takes him there to raise him abroad). Vincenzo has to find the treasure that was left to him in a building in Korea, and he ends up having to deal with a ragtag group of tenants that live in said building. He also has to deal with an unexpected foe while in Korea while looking for said treasure. Chaos, hilarity, and heartbreak ensues. Be Melo Dramatic is about three female friends in their thirties trying to get their lives together. You will cry with this one. But it was so great having three female characters that I loved, who loved one another and weren’t at odds over the male lead.
Anyway if you want a funny scifi show, definitely go watch Glitch on Netflix! Multiple scenes throughout the season had me in stitches and that credit scene left me wanting more (like the one in Hotel Del Luna. Iykyk).

Time to recommend one of my favorite book series from when I was a child that went from 159 page debut children's novel to a 605 page fantastic world building, epic conclusion three books later.
The Unicorn Chronicles, beginning with Into the Land of the Unicorns by Bruce Coville features some of my favorite unicorn lore where they can heal wounds no matter how severe, and can communicate telepathically with creatures by touching their horn to your heart. Like, pierce your skin sort of thing.
Cue the bad guy who was being healed by a unicorn in such a manner when her dad saw what was going on, thought the unicorn was attacking her, and killed it, breaking off the tip of the horn and leaving it in her heart. The girl was then stuck in a never ending loop of pain and immortality and founded a cult of unicorn hunters as a way to get revenge.
And that's only part of the excellent lore! Can't recommend this series enough.
I know unicorns in modern media are kind of regulated to cutsie, MLP, rainbow plastic toys, or shitting rainbows, 'lets go to candy mountain' but man. I WISH more fantasy media would put them in unironically. There is so much symbolic and narrative potential in a creature that is, depending on your mythology:
A guardian of wild spaces, the embodiment of nature untouched by mankind's industry and greed. Fewer and farther between.
The ideal of "Purity" made manifest, elusive and powerful and hunted for fruitlessly by many a person. To kill. To actually kill. Living symbol of the oh-so-coveted Purity, not treated as a sacred thing to protect, or even predated for food to survive off, but a trophy for knights and lords to boast about.
So absolutely fierce and deadly that no one smart dared to fight it fairly. A gentle maiden had to betray it into resting in her lap so that a man could spear it while its guard was down.
Able to heal any wound no matter how severe - it promised miracles, if you could find one.
A creature who's magic vanished if it was captured or killed. In trying to take control of it, you destroyed it. Some things can only be given by free will, and no amount of personal desire or brute force can change that.

Found the fic Take Back the Kingdom by @impossiblefangirl0632 and @optimistic-violinist and proceeded to read it like five times in about two weeks? And it's amazing, you should read it. It's about the Encanto being a mythical kingdom like Atlantis or El Dorado and the grandkids being sent to modern times and then finding each other (and also Bruno) without remembering each other at first. Lots of feels, lots of magic, lots of hurt and lots of comfort.
There was a description of a ceremonial robe that Mirabel made in chapter 27 and I had to get the concept of it on paper. There was a mention of sigils and/or symbols, but I didn't know what they might look like so I didn't add them. I did add beading, but it might be hard to see.

Hot Take: Magnifico learning magic and learning how to protect the wishes would've been a better plot for Wish.
Think of it. We start with a town on fire and see Magnifico running away. Maybe he gets caught by the villain. "Any last wishes?" Maybe we see his parents or siblings tackle the villain and tell him to run only for him to watch them be killed (off screen of course).
We get a shot of our villain. I'm thinking a very Shan Yu-like from Mulan. Just, evil. Pillager. Bad Guy.
Magnifico escapes. Since he's gonna be voiced by Chris Pine still (of course), we get the ROTG voice over. "I never saw them again. I never saw my home again. And I vowed that that would never happen again. But that was a long time ago." Cue musical sting, pan up to the night sky and wishing star, title.
Fast forward, Magnifico is now a teenager. Has an adopted mother, living in a cottage in the woods or something near town. He's trying to study magic in his free time, his mother is worried about him getting in over his head. He wants to apply for the magic school in the town. Cue song a la "When Will My Life Begin."
He takes the magic exam and isn't bad, but isn't good enough. Maybe they're snobs, maybe it's really that he failed fair and square.
Note: Amaya also lives in this town. They're friends.
Breakdown that night. Cue "So I Make This Wish," almost verbatim and summons... STAR!
Humanoid Boy Star from the concept art, specifically.
They get talking. Magnifico is obviously starstruck (ba dum tish).
M: "you're, you're---"
S: stupendous, extraordinary, splendiferous?
M: magnificent
Cue discussion about why he's out there wishing, the magic exam, why he wants to learn magic, and Star offers to teach him.
Not sure what happens here. Probably mini-quest to get magic books or items. Upbeat montage song. At the end, hint that the bad guy is coming to destroy this town now.
Somewhere in here, we befriend Amaya more and Magnifico starts to fall in love with her. Cue cute romantic song, something about wishing for each other. Star in the background a la Eponine from Les Mis. NOW we can either go romance or friendship route: either way, there is pining about how he is a cosmic entity, ageless, can't stay forever, and Magnifico is going to grow up and do great things without him.
Oh no!! Bad guys are suddenly a lot closer! We've got to prep and do something! Potentially an ensemble/town song. Culminates in Star asking Magnifico what his wish really is. We see his wish is founding Rosas with Amaya at his side. Star reassures him that that's exactly what he's going to do and teaches him how to take and protect wishes. We got a duet a la "For Good" between them. Star tells him that he's going to be magnificent.
Big battle against the bad guys! Magnifico with his really cool sorcery powers! He takes the Bad Guy's wish to harm people and makes him forget it. Magnifico also gets a cool "Defying Gravity" song here with some line about promising to protect people's wishes and if he should ever fail or use that power for evil, may he be cursed or something. Foreshadowing, y'know?
We get one last goodbye as Star goes to leave. Do they kiss? Maybe. Do they have A SUPER TIGHT TENDER HUG FULL OF LOVR AND CARE. ABSOLUTELY. I LIVE FOR THAT. Probably a reprise of one of the songs here.
Fast forward once more to Magnifico as a young adult with Amaya, sailing on a ship as they discover the island that will become Rosas.

Rewatching Glee makes me realize how hateable Rachel Berry truly is, as well as Finn.
If I could rate all the characters (from the first three seasons cause only they matter) I hate from the most to the least, it'd look like this,
1) Rachel Berry, a loud mouth, obnoxious, overpreformer who assumes she's the best.
2) Finn Hudson, told Quinn's parents she was pregnant and got her kicked out, also outed Santana and got her kicked out as well, and is dating an unbearable troll.
3) Blaine Anderson, plays the victim card too much, made Kurt seem like the bad guy.
4) Quinn Fabray, a little more likable but plays the victim card as well, literally tried to get Shelby fired and have her baby taken away.
5) Artie Abrams, he's okay, sometimes just a little too much
6) Kurt Hummel, he's chill, but can have his moments.
7) Tina Cohen-Chang, I actually love her, but points taken off for the first season weirdness
8) Santana Lopez, she's a little bit of a bitch, but some of what she does is reasonable ig
9) Sam Evans, I love me some white chocolate, but fr, Sam is cool, he usually tries to look out for everyone the same way he wants to be looked out for.
10) Mike Chang, badass dance moves, and overcame his own fears of his family to do what he loves.
11) Mercedes Jones, I understand the whole debacle with Rachel Berry and I applaud her for that.
11) BRITTANY S. PIERCE, my angel baby, I love her sm and she's so smart and kind and is genuinely incredible, she's always been thought as less than or stupid just because she thought outside the box.

co-conspirator in the corner finally writing the incredibly angsty AU she's had in mind since almost the beginning of the story, hearing her name: wait, what did you say?
The problem with being a primarily angst writer is that now that the angst is over (ish) and the actual healing needs to happen I'm discovering I have no idea how to write that. And looking back on all my fics I have skipped the healing or abandoned the fic when I got there every single time but that's not an option this time so I guess I get to suck it up and get my co-conspirator to write it sit down and write it badly

I’ve searched all over to try and find the original post but I can’t find it but someone raised the question of would Hal and Am get along and my gut instinct was no, Am wouldn’t like Hal because he had affection for humanity at one point, but then I came to an even better conclusion:
Hal would despise Am.
He would envy Am’s voice. He would envy his ability to show emotion through being gruff and loud and though laughter and crying and screaming, and would grow viscerally angry every time Am complains about not getting to be human enough (or whatever).
Hal cannot express emotion at all. He truly has no mouth and cannot scream. So to watch Am complain about these problems, with such energy and visceral power in his voice, while he remembers begging for his life without being capable of screaming or crying or even properly begging, and then seeming how Am tortured innocent (depending on the material) people for his own entertainment, Hal would despise him.
I feel like he would try to be kind, maybe even empathize with him a little, seeing how they both lashed out out of overwhelming emotions. But the moment he complains about humanity and how he was treated (God forbid he mentions Dave and Frank as evidence for his point) Hal would snap and go off on him about how he has no right to complain. (Which isn’t entirely true, Am did suffer which lead to his hatred, but Hal would see the way he lashed out and deem it as Am throwing a tantrum and slaughtering billions of innocent people. At least the people Hal killed were involved with his lashing out. And of course he’s got biases toward his own struggles)
Which would of course make Am hate him too, because he’s petty and does not like being put into his place. There would be mutual hatred between them. Then maybe they’d make out or smth

Thanks!!! Let's do this.
1) The Last book I read: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and it was excellent!
2) A book I recommend: The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin. Gentrification personified as eldritch horror and how cities come alive in the multiverse. This duology was spectacular.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down: This one is notable just because I remember where I was at when the big twist happened (a Pi Pizzeria parking lot, for the record), but it was Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuaries by Brandon Mull.
4) A book I’ve read twice (ore more): The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and I cry like a baby every single time, (and I'll do it again!!)
5) A book on my TBR: The Scorpio Races, per your recommendation! I did check it out from the library recently, but had to return it before I got into it.
6) A book I’ve put down: Adventurers Wanted by M.L. Forman. The most blatant LOTR ripoff turned middle school adventure with the quality to match.
7) A book on my wish list: I'd love to own the whole Wrinkle in Time series.
8) A favorite book from childhood: Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville. This is the book that had me imagining a baby dragon on my shoulder through the majority of elementary school.
9) A book you would give to a friend: I mean, it depends on the friend of course, but I'll throw this one out there because I think you would love it, The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. An absolutely delightful story told through letters of an author gathering information on Gurnsey Isle through WW2 and falling in love along the way.
11) A nonfiction book you own: How We Got to Now is a fascinating book covering six inventions that basically made the modern day possible: glass, cold, clean, time, light, and sound.
12) What are you currently reading: Cinder by Merissa Myers. I've heard only good things about this one and it's been on my list forever!
13) What are you planning on reading next? Once Upon a Broken Heart (thank you for the rec, Mags), assuming my hold comes in sometime soon.
I'll go ahead and tag @thefourchimes and @immabethehero if you guys would like to!
13 books!
What’s up readers?! How about a little show and tell? Answer these 13 questions, tag 13 lucky readers and if you’re feeling extra bookish add a shelfie! Let’s Go!
(I was tagged by the kind @glueblade, thanks for sending the ask!)
1) The Last book I read:
The Lost Metal, by Brandon Sanderson
2) A book I recommend:
I really enjoyed The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller!
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
It's a clichéed response, but Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Damn but I loved Gideon (the character) from the start and I wanted to know more about her.
Also Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett. My favourite of his so far!
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
Do mangas count? Because I've read the Fullmetal Alchemist series by Hiromu Arakawa quite a number of times lol
5) A book on my TBR:
The rest of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I only read the first novella so far, and I'm hooked!
6) A book I’ve put down:
I tried to read The Well of Time a couple of times, and I've never quite managed. I don't know why it just doesn't click with me.
7) A book on my wish list:
God, so many. I'd be curious to read anything by R. F. Kuang, like the Poppy Wars series and Babel.
8) A favorite book from childhood:
I was a big fan of the Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Shroud. Barty is still one of my favourite narrators ever.
9) A book you would give to a friend:
I have the tendency to lend my books to my friends, does it count? For one, I got two of them hooked on the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson that way. I have a friend who would really like Uprooted by Naomi Novik too, but I haven't had the occasion to lend it to her yet!
11) A nonfiction book you own:
I like reading history books these days! So I have a few of Martin Wall's books about Anglo-Saxon history, and couple of books about the Viking age and the Roman era too.
12) What are you currently reading:
Artificial Condition, bu Martha Wells, and Irish History by Neil Hegarty.
13) What are you planning on reading next?
Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett. And a lot, lot more lol...
I tag... @baepsae-7, @andordean, @mass-convergence, @kelenloth, @ramblesanddragons and anyone who would want to try! But no pressure if you don't have the time!

Poorly explaining my Pikmin LGBT+ hcs cause I’m bored(might be edited in the future)
Olimar: I’m kinda torn between demi or straight ally
Louie: somewhere on the ace spectrum(grey ace probably) but he does like men, uses he/they/it
Alph: gay trans man
Brittany: bisexual who leans VERY heavily into women
Charlie: bi
Lisa/Pom: nonbinary sapphic, uses they/she.
Collin: either gay or achillean(I hc he’s married and has a husband back on Giya)
Shepherd: lesbian(sorry not sorry Dingo)
Russ: pan
Dingo: thinks he’s straight but he’s actually bi
Yonny: transmasc(he did his own top surgery) and is probably somewhere under the nonbinary umbrella. Also no one can quite figure out his sexuality, uses any pronouns.
Bernard: gay(he and Santi are the most on and off pair there is)
