Denise: Miss Custer, may I ask what your intentions for my son are? Breanna: Intentions? I don't know Mrs. J. I don't really have intentions. We're just having... fun? Denise: Fun?! Mon dieu, young Sims these days. When I was your age I already had Gilbert. Listen, I'm looking for someone who's willing to love my son and give me a grandchild, so our legacy with the bakery here in Bluewater continues. Breanna: I'm sorry to tell you, but I'm not even sure, Gil is looking for someone like that.

Denise would have loved to kick that cheeky moron out of her house, but she didn't. Maybe deep inside her son did love that brat.

Gieke Family - Intro

The Gieke Family is a quirky bunch. They tend to keep to themselves and pay far too much attention to the latest technology instead of people. Can Chester break the Gieke mold?

Chester is an odd fellow. He wants to meet other humans, especially the female kind. Well then. 

I don’t know how to feel about this. Breanna is in a relationship with Gilbert Jacquet. 

Oop.

All right then.

I got him a job in the Gamer field. I guess we accomplished two things - get him a job he might enjoy, and a lady friend. Not so eventful, at the same time kinda surprising. We shall see. 

And that’s it for the Gieke. Uneventful except for the kiss with Breanna. Perhaps something will blossom out of there.

Cyd lives in Middle Lane Apartments, originally he was in the downstairs pink one but again for reasons I had to move him out. He’s now upstairs in the orange one. He started off his round with some skilling.

Whilst Porthos did some chewing.

I then sent Cyd out into the neighbourhood to meet some people. First stop was lunch at The Greasy Spork.

No one wants to see that when their eating Martin!

It’s a busy little diner.

Kimberley: And that’s why a wizard stole my eyebrows!

Cyd is having none of your feeble explanations.

Back at the ranch apartment, chess is hard.

The landlord hates Porthos so much and it’s only day one. (Also I moved Cyd out to put in outdoor lighting and then I forgot to put in the lighting.)

There is no greater love than between a badly lit man and his badly lit dog.

The other reason I moved them upstairs was the larger amount of outdoor space, so Porthos could have a kennel.

But he also likes to sleep inside close to his person.

The next morning Cyd rises early to make himself a good breakfast.

He fails spectacularly in that mission.

He bathes his stinky dog.

But the neighbour’s stink is his own responsibility. (All three of his neighbours were hanging out in the hot tub during a storm, they got hit by lightning one by one)

Porthos needs to learn to stay to get a promotion at work. He is employed as a Snooper Deterrent in the Security career.

Off to work he goes, in a most unsafe manner.

Cyd heads over to 290 Main Street to the pet shop. No you may not have another rat dog.

He does pick something up though.

And then onto the electronics store for something shiny for himself.

Never a good sign when the person you’re trying to kiss is thinking of someone else.

Rejected by Gilbert Jacquet, does Delilah’s humilation know no limits?

Once again back at the poorly lit homestead, Cyd pays his bills.

And hammers on his walls.

Porthos returns from work with a promotion to Guard Pet and a serious case of exhaustion.

His poor little stubby legs just can’t take another step, never mind climb a flight of stairs.

The next day Cyd is finally at work and he gets a chance card. I guess...

Poorly it turn out. At least he didn’t actually have those Charisma points to lose.

He does bring Jenny Smith home from work though.

And by nightfall they are friends, so maybe that softens the blow of his humiliation? Jenny is totally the sort of Sim who would see a colleague have a crappy day and go home with them to take care of them.

Cyd then invites Brandi over for a date.

The date goes very well and they move into the back garden.

And the hot tub!

Things stay fairly chaste though. Brandi is still pretty fragile and Cyd respects that. They have plenty of time for their relationship to grow. They are both in love now, so perhaps it’s time he meets the kids?

Porthos makes a friend too, with a stray named Cleo I believe.

And Brandi sneaks back with those Dream Date roses.

The next morning Cyd hits the books again.

Porthos is visited by a ball of fire...

And then he heads off for Guarding duty.

Cyd succeeds at making himself food that isn’t carbonised.

And we finally find out what was in that box from the pet store. Doesn’t Porthos look dashing?

at the Jacquet household: ~ Gilbert couldn’t decide which of his two townie loves to move in, so he asked both of them to move in (which totally didn’t end badly at all…) ~ he also proceeded to spawn children with them: he had Astrid with Breanna (the brunette) and Xavier with Trina ~ Breanna doesn’t seem particularly sad over Denise’s death

Jesse’s other neighbour, and the only one he can really interact with, is Breanna Custer, this uberhood’s playable townie who owns businesses to make them functional. Breanna: If you ever want to visit a museum gift shop again, you better fucking fix this.

Jesse: Please? I mean, I’ll try, but I’ll be amazed if you can actually talk to them. Jesse: Oh I don’t want to talk to them, I just wanna give them makeovers. Bad news, you can’t. But! You can drag Breanna back into that chair.

And he’s gonna have plenty of time to carry out makeovers now, because he lost his job.

Jesse: They didn’t even let me keep the money.

Jesse: I have opinions about the music in this movie. Connie: Keep them to yourself, I’m trying to watch it.

Back home, he autonomously fixes the phones.

Jesse: I wish I hadn’t.

Top 5 Timothy/Vivian moments (or one of the other couples mentioned if that's what you prefer)?

Dear Anon, I’m so sorry for the incredibly late response. It’s been one crazy week and I needed some time to think about this one too. 

As much as I like putting Timothy and Vivian together, it’s been a long time since I’ve done so, and I don’t remember many highlights of their relationship beyond them generally being a sweet couple. I thought of doing another couple, but I still don’t think I can get 5 interesting moments out of anyone. So if you don’t mind, I’ll do one favourite moment/memory per couple that I mentioned in the 5 ships post. 

1) Vivian Cho & Timothy Riley 

I still can’t pick one specific moment for these two, but I remember the first time I played them I really enjoyed discovering everything about them, and finding all the things they had in common. Obviously Maxis sets that up for them to be together, but it’s kind of cool. They’re both in the Medicine career, both widowed, both have a daughter…glancing at the wiki to refresh my memory I see they also have the exact same personality–okay, that’s kind of weird, ha ha. Never noticed that one before! Moving on, their differences are also cool, such as Vivian being the older one, and by several days too. 

Basically my favourite memory is discovering who they were for the first time and seeing how compatible they are!

2) Gilbert Jacquet & Breanna Custer (townie) 

This was the first couple I remember playing who had dyed hair. Favourite moment: finally cluing in to that fact after their third consecutive blonde child. 

3) Lola Curious & Ajay Loner 

One time I played Strangetown with the goal of having the aliens overrun the population. I (unknowingly at the time) did some game-breaking things to achieve this, such as importing aliens from other neighbourhoods via the lot bin so they wouldn’t all be related to each other. I also depended on the Strangetown aliens to breed a lot, so technically I suppose Lola and Ajay had an arranged marriage. But they became a really sweet couple and super fun to play…I soon abandoned the alien Strangetown objective to play that family almost exclusively. 

4) Brandi Broke & Darren Dreamer

I like these two because I think they can understand each other well: another pair of double widows, struggling to raise their kids with very little money. My favourite memory of playing them is when they were sooooo poor, relying only on income from the teens’ careers and Darren’s occasional painting. The repoman came to take away their stuff and Brandi and Darren just made out in the kitchen the whole time. :D 

5) John Mole & Sharon Wirth 

Well John has the dubious honour of being the Sim who has died the most times in my game. One time he electrocuted himself while Sharon was visiting. She completely ignored his distress and helped herself to a bag of chips from the fridge. And that’s basically their relationship in a nutshell. :)

Jacquet Family - Intro

I love this image. I imagine them celebrating them inheriting the bakery. 

The Jacquets consist of Denise Jacquet and her adult son, Gilbert. Denise is a recent widow, as her husband Yves passed before the story begins. Gilbert inherited Yves’ bakery, and now both plan to keep it running. So we will be focusing mostly on the bakery. 

Damn, the game just started. Remember when I mentioned the wage thing in the Landgraab round? 

Gilbert did have a crush on Trina. Unfortunately since he did not pay her well, that lost the attraction. For now. 

Despite losing Trina, the business does gain a rank. 

The rest of the business run was pretty uneventful. However, we did get a shock in the end when Trina arrived to the lot. 

Gilbert and Trina patched up their relationship and Trina was hired again. This time, she is being paid averagely. 

I had them head home and rest for a bit. Gilbert wanted to invite his crush Breanna Custer over. 

Despite being a Romance Sim and Breanna being a Knowledge Sim, the two of them have some chemistry together. 

They can be cute together, ngl.

That was pretty much it for the Jacquet family. I love the bakery business, since it is pretty simple. It helps that Denise is a great cook and can make most of the goods.
