What would come out of this sudden turn of events? Would Gilbert oblige to his mother and get married and do the whole family stuff he actually didn't want. Florence was a nice woman, but he never felt more like a friend for her. She was herself way to busy for a relationship, wasn't she? Find out how this mess continues, next season!

Denise, who was playing with a stray outside, noticed the scene and couldn't be any happier. Finally her son showed some interest in a decent woman, a woman of his age and a hard-working one none the less. Those were great news!

And after getting pretty good at Ikebana over the past month, he decided to make Florence a special gift.
Tumblr media
Florence: Oh, what`s this? Gilbert: Just some you know, bouquets I did yesterday. I thought you could sell those in your store Florence: Oh my Gil, this is so nice of you!
Tumblr media
Gilbert had no idea how it happened, but suddenly Florence's lips met his. He didn't know what to make out of it. There was that scene when Florence had tried flirting with him, when she was like a little tipsy, but he really had no idea how she felt for him. He hoped she didn't take his gift as a romantic one, he just tried to be nice, he know how hard business could be and he thought the bouquets were quite nice....

Without telling his mother, Gilbert finally decided to get his foot back into sports. Hey, being a mascot was better than being a baker...

Denise: Have you signed the contract with Miss Caliente? I saw her leave your room after waking up from my nap? Gilbert: Well, no. She's looking for something more extravagant. I showed her some of Dad's creations. She would have liked those but I'm afraid neither you nor me or Triana have the skill for things like those. Denise *sigh*: You know I was more involved with the finances of the bakery. I wish your father had taught you more of his skills.
How did Gilbert tell his mother that he never wanted to be a baker like them? He hated flour dust! He hated waking up early. He always wanted to make his soccer talent into a career but his parents always though this was stupid. And now he was too old...
Gilbert: We'll find somebody as good as Dad, I'm sure Maman.
Denise wouldn't tell him how she wished he would be the one as good as his father...

Gilbert met another great catch at the bakery. Dina, was from Pleasantview and told him she was about to get married soon and still looking for the perfect cake. So Gilbert invited her for a private meeting to talk about everything.
Well long story short, Dina didn't like the cake Gilbert offered to her, but she liked other stuff, he had to offer...

Denise on her side also tried to be a little more sociable again. After she lost her beloved husband the only social interactions she attended was with her son and at the bakery, though she mostly hid in the kitchen there. But now she tried to befriend her neighbor Stephen Tinker, a fellow business man. Talking to him on the phone was easy, talking in person was much harder for an introvert like Denise...

And in the few time he wasn't dating, he picked up a new hobby. His friend Florence had told him so much about flower arranging that he started to show interest in it too. So he picked up the hobby of Ikebana.

But he was definitely more interested in Breanna. And it soothed his mother's nerves seeing him with the same girl more than once. She didn't actually like Breanna but she accepted her in her house.

But actually there never was more than some innocent flirting and dancing. Trina was cute, not a question, but Gilbert wasn't that much into her "nice girl" attitude.

His mother would snap if she found out that Gilbert even had another iron in the oven. Trina Dalton, the girl that helped him and his mother at the bakery since his father had died. Trina was even younger than Breanna, but things clearly weren't one-sided! Trina would even sometimes call Gilbert to go downtown, clubbing.

Denise: Miss Custer, may I ask what your intentions for my son are? Breanna: Intentions? I don't know Mrs. J. I don't really have intentions. We're just having... fun? Denise: Fun?! Mon dieu, young Sims these days. When I was your age I already had Gilbert. Listen, I'm looking for someone who's willing to love my son and give me a grandchild, so our legacy with the bakery here in Bluewater continues. Breanna: I'm sorry to tell you, but I'm not even sure, Gil is looking for someone like that.
Denise would have loved to kick that cheeky moron out of her house, but she didn't. Maybe deep inside her son did love that brat.

Breanna and Gilbert got along great, on the physical side.
Conversations usually turned out quite short...

Gilbert on the other side was a plain hedonist. Currently he was seeing a girl called Breanna, 16 years younger than him and the way she dressed, just as bad as Gilbert himself...

Denise was worried about her son. At his age she had long since been married and just relocated from Champs le Sims to Bluewater Village. Her and her husband learned a new language, met new people and became successful busines people.
But luck left Denise the day her husband died. With him, some of his most beloved recipes died. He had written them down, but now matter how much effort Denise put into it, she just couldn't make her bakeries taste like Yves'...
