"People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right."
Happy 30th Anniversary to The Crow

Devil's Night Watch: The Crow (1994)
Thank you to @eerian-sadow and @ilyena-sylph for watching with me, even if it was just by discord for the incomparable eerian-sadow!
++
Graeme Revell knocked it out of the park for the OST Ilyena_Sylph: 💯 eeriansadow: YES
I love the kid that played Sarah. She just… she's perfect Ilyena_Sylph: i love Sarah so much
I am VERY glad Eric's introduction as the Crow is SO extensive and long. I know some complain that it is slow in relation to the rest, but… it works so well. Then again, comic book feel of it is perfection to me. eeriansadow: I agree Ilyena_Sylph: i can't imagine it being even a frame shorter. it's just. it's perfect. eeriansadow: — It IS. It's exactly what he needed. And it's an indrawn breath before the madness hits Yeah. And the transition, once the memories play out, into the rock music from the eerie haunting music? +chef kiss+ eeriansadow: So good, yes I just… you feel ALL OF HIS LOVE and his PAIN eeriansadow: nodnod
Still amused that my two roles for Tin-Tin's actors are THIS and Hackers -- where he was a bit Flaming
I love that both The Cure and Nine Inch Nails limited how often they would play their songs from this movie, despite both being frequently requested.
That is not murder strut. That is VENGEANCE WALKING
Ilyena_Sylph: i adore that they put the lyrics in the proper closed captions.
Ilyena_Sylph: i have such a love-hate with the fucking pawnshop owner and Tin-Tin and how much they despise each other. Ilyena_Sylph: like, it's just enjoyable in a truly bizarre way. Ilyena_Sylph: and gods, his sheer physical power.
I love the fight with Tin-Tin for showing how he is learning his abilities. I totally think "it's all in the reflexes" when he catches the knife.
Top Dollar and his sister are CREEPY. And I love it. Ilyena_Sylph: they are and it's gloriously terrible. Michael Wincott is still so pretty here.
Brandon Lee wasn't actually on the short list for the role. Lee himself convinced O'Barr. And then helped shape the final film creatively.
Torres is such a DICK.
Super strength, nigh-invulnerability, speed, animal senses, post-cognition…
Ilyena_Sylph: "jolly pirate nicknames!" "Is that gasoline I smell?" Creator cameo! (looter taking the TV)
Was it just me, or was there some Looks going on between Myca and T-Bird? Ilyena_Sylph: such a delightful little meeting there. Ilyena_Sylph: there were some interesting looks, for sure.
OH ERIC Touching her was SO HARD for his mind. Ilyena_Sylph: and doing anything good.
For those that never looked it up, the lady cop is Annabella. Tony Todd's character is Grange. Neither is named in the movie.
"Stop me if you've heard this one before…" I actually had not heard that joke before this movie, and I love it. I am sad they had to abbreviate the Fun Boy scene. But it works the way they handled it. We didn't actually NEED to see Eric interrogate him, though it served to show for every thing he did that wasn't directly part of the vengeance, it weakened him. (If you don't know, Fun Boy recovers enough before Eric is done to hurt him because of Eric healing Darla's addiction.)
I LOVE Albrecht. "You still have your hat on." Ilyena_Sylph: ACAB, but he tries not to be. Ilyena_Sylph: "Boo." He's what I used to believe cops were supposed to be. People who really wanted to make the world better. A fairy tale, in other words. OH ERIC. Ilyena_Sylph: "nothing is trivial." I LOVE THEIR DYNAMIC. "I thought I'd use your front door."
Now, I've never verified, but the sword Top Dollar uses here is the same blade from The Three Musketeers. I should get a copy of that to verify… Oh Gideon you dug your grave, insulting Myca. Ilyena_Sylph: "for fuck's sake, die, willya?!"
Actual Vinyl. But then, Detroit. Makes sense there would have still been vinyl presses running for the indie scene up there. eeriansadow: Yep
"Drive." Hello Henry Rollins. In the Yugo. Ilyena_Sylph: +giggle+ Coffee in the lap of an ACAB. Ilyena_Sylph: hot coffee to the crotch. Ilyena_Sylph: say what you will about Skank, he's loyal as fuck. crazy little bastard. Yes, he very much is. I love that T-Bird is actually the one that has to endure TERROR before his death. Fun Boy was too high to be really terrified, Tin-Tin didn't last long enough… Skank, yeah, he winds up having to watch the melee, but he ain't all there enough to really feel what T-Bird just did.
Ilyena_Sylph: Grange's 'what the fuuuuuuck' face perched at the edge of the opened grave. INDEED!
Ilyena_Sylph: oh, Darla. Yeah. Side note - Darla is a good character in the TV show.
Ilyena_Sylph: god i hate Torres. Yes, we do. Ilyena_Sylph: racist prick
The story BEHIND the reunion between Sarah and Eric HURTS. Ilyena_Sylph: ?? She filmed this after Brandon's death. Ilyena_Sylph: oH GODS YES "You're not dead, are you" to the CAT Ilyena_Sylph: WELL?! it's a reasonable question! Ilyena_Sylph: given her last 24 hours! And I always though Gabriel was touched by the supernatural because of the events.
The Skank scene with Grange and Top Dollar… Skank's actor played it well.
Sarah and Albrecht coming clean about Eric is so touching. Ilyena_Sylph: 'he can't be my friend because… because i'm alive.'
Thrill Kill Cult's song is so PERFECT for the coming scene. Jeff Imada, legendary stuntman and stunt coordinator. "Devil's night greeting cards." I love how Brandon MOVES. And the kill floor is live. Ilyena_Sylph: YES the change from the techno metal to the eerie music, the almost quiet around the bullets… Ilyena_Sylph: when did you become a shootist, Eric? (talking about Brandon's other roles) - Showdown in Little Tokyo? Or Rapid Fire
What was with the 90s and Helicopter chases over skylines? "So many cops, you'd think they were giving away donuts." Also, ALL the blood on Albrecht's car seat was a really good sign of his power waning. eeriansadow: It was, yes. Good visual storytelling
Sarah sleeping at the graves is just so her. He CAN'T tell her goodbye, because you don't get that chance before you die and can't take it after. And that is a promise she kept, about not taking off the ring, if I remember the second movie right. eeriansadow: I haven't watched the second in a LONG time but I believe you're right I think it gets taken off of her at one point? But. Just like Top Dollar just did to her. eeriansadow: Yeah
Metatextually (as Top Dollar will monologue in a few minutes), Eric's job WASN'T done. But oh he's waning on power. Ilyena_Sylph: but he thought it was Ilyena_Sylph: he didn't know. Yeah.
Albrecht to the RESCUE! Grange going down to Albrecht, when he was the enforcer for Top Dollar, the man behind most of Albrecht's cases, felt good. Ilyena_Sylph: yep And Myca, the mystic, dies at the actual crow's actions. Weather-vane versus sword…. Top Dollar is one of the best amoral villains in cinema. Ilyena_Sylph: and stupid enough to not be able to not gloat. Ilyena_Sylph: and make himself a justified target again. Well, Lawful Evil. He has rules, they're just… fucked up.
"I've been meaning to come to church anyway." And Albrecht pins it all on Top Dollar. Gotta love that.
MY HEART ALWAYS THUMPS SO HARD AT SHELLY COMING FOR ERIC. "For Brandon and Eliza" - yep, there's the tears now. eeriansadow: Yes. I always cry at the dedication
And new to me trivia - Eliza, his fiancée, was his assistant on the movie.

Saw the trailer for the new The Crow movie with Bill Skarsgård and...
Well, it looks cool and fun at least, so I'll definitely sit my ass at the movie theater for the first time since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever came out, but I can't help to feel like making it a "remake" of the original 1994 film (bless Brandon Lee and may he rest forever in peace) with some MASSIVE changes (RIP to my girl Sarah and Cool Dad Sgt. Albrecht, they deserved better) was a bit of a missed opportunity? Because look, it's like this
say whatever you will about the quality of the sequels, and whether you liked them or hated them is entirely your business and valid either way. I mean, I only watched City of Angels once and barely remember it, it was that good. Never managed to catch Salvation (read the plot) and watched Wicked Prayer a couple of times (David Boreanaz and Danny Trejo were in that movie, HAH!) and I'm basically neutral about it because THAT was practically a remake of the original but in a different setting with different characters, the plot beats were the a carbon copy.
In summary, the tradition with this unloved obscure franchise is that with every movie, the story changes. You have a new cast, a new city, new villains, and the only constant is that someone is brutally murdered along with a loved one, and their soul can't rest, so the crow that carries them to the next life allows them to come back to right the wrongs before moving on. And independently of how successful the storytelling was, they at least tried to do something different each time (except for Wicked Prayer): City of Angels was about a father being brought back to avenge the murder of his son and Salvation was about a guy being wrongly accused of the murder of his girlfriend and coming back from being executed to solve the mystery of her death and avenge himself and her. And this new film is just--
Oh we have two cishet people who are in love and get murdered and they're both just called Eric and Shelly and this isn't supposed to be a reboot, it's just the same plot as the '94 movie and the main characters are different people but have the same names as the two lovers from the original and we're gonna ramp up the supernatural element even though knowing so little about it is what made the original so mysterious and tight in its themes and instead of our titular Crow looking like "a Nine Inch Nails member" he'll look "like a rapper on SoundCloud" (quoted from a great YT comment btw). Oh and Eric and Shelly are delinquents so we can toss some poorly construed redemption arc, just to spice things up a little.
Just ?????? WHAT?? That's IT????
Ever since the rumors of a new Crow movie started traveling around the internet, I was hoping they would really try and make something interesting with it because this is a kind of universe (I hate that term, fucking Marvel) where there's strict rules, true, but within its boundaries you can get really creative! Like why not have a female Crow, for a change? It's always been a male playing the part! Why not an LGBTQ+ Crow, like hear me out:
how about a lesbian couple who were super in love and happy but got murdered by homophobes one night so one of them is brought back to exact vengeance so brutal, vicious and graphic even the devil would get chills (and the anti-LGBTQ+ fake fans in the audience would shit their pants)?
And I didn't have to think too hard about that one! It's basically the original plot but with lesbians! You get a female Crow AND a LGBTQ+ Crow in the same film!!
And it doesn't have to be about lovers being murdered either, like I said City of Angels was about a father and his son, in Salvation the guy got wrongly executed for the murder of his gf, why not have a daughter coming back to avenge her mother? Why not a friend coming back bc they can't rest after they and their BFF were gunned down? Why can't it be total strangers who hit it off after meeting for five minutes and have a "wrong place, wrong time" scenario going on??? How much better would that be?
So many possibilities, but nooooooo, we gotta go with the tired Sad White Boy (no shade on Bill Skarsgård) loses his One True (Straight) Love plot and he has to be conventionally attractive (and get jacked up when he's brought back bc yeah, I mean in the original Lee's character looked exactly the same pre and pos resurrection, his only superpower was that he couldn't be killed but whatever) and look badass while killing all the bad guys. BORING. Oh and 2024's Shelly is a black woman who gets murdered, don't think I didn't notice that casual racism.
Since we're on that note, why not have a black Crow???? Or a Mexican Crow??????? I realize that in Wicked Prayer Jimmy Cuervo maybe was supposed to be Mexican, but he was still a white man (with Mexican heritage, I'll give it that) so we're back to the same white-people only club! I realize there are white Mexicans, but that's not the point, the point is to give brown skinned people the chance to play a main role where they get to be badass too! Just..... AHHHH.
Listen. Anyone who truly knows me is aware I'm a big romantic bimbo. I LOVE a good love story that ends in tragedy or in bittersweet terms bc the couple are so in love and true love never dies (see what I did there, fellow Crow fans?). But nothing is gonna beat Brandon Lee's movie in that sense, that's why I love it. What buggers me the most is that, from what I've been told, the director and writers wanted to make an adaptation more faithful to the graphic novel (which I have not read YET! I recommend Into The Depths video if you wanna know more about the author James O'Barr and his story, which is a very sad one indeed) that started it all, and yet it doesn't look like it will be any more faithful to said graphic novel than the '94 movie! Like, if you're gonna bullshit about it, at least make up a better excuse.
Hhhhhhhhhh. Hollywood's gonna Hollywood, right? Joke's on me expecting better.
TL:DR The Crow (2024) is trying to be a remake of The Crow (1994) when we already have a remake (The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2000)) instead of trying to make something new and it's silly, but I will still go watch it bc at least it looks fun to look at. And there's a bit of poetry in knowing this new flick will release 30 years after the original, ig.
Rant over.
Bloopers: try to guess how many times I ended up writing Wicked Grace instead of Wicked Prayer bc I'm back on my Dragon Age era lmaooooo.

Quote
It is a tragic film, not only in its story—Eric Draven returning from the dead to avenge the horror enacted on Shelly, how he cannot maintain his friendship with Albrect and Sarah. How all the good he does is fleeting (for him). It is also in the history of its filming. During a scene with gunfire, Brandon Lee (Eric Draven) was shot with a live round, and killed on set. This makes the film hard to watch, flinching every time a gun goes off. There is no lack of empathy when watching Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) go about with nigh immortality (so he assumes). The empathy when watching The Crow is both within and without the movie: in the harsh reality of Brandon Lee’s death, and in the story of Eric Draven. But this, to me, is what goth culture is about; what masculinity is about.  As a goth trans man, currently in the midst of transition, being goth is about finding joy in what would destroy us. Eric Draven personifies that. Goth culture, in its music, its clothing, its adoration of all that is dreary and bleak, is about hope. Masculinity, at its core, sweeping away the toxicity that men are taught over and over again, is about upholding one’s own sense of hope, and empathy. Because being a man is, truly, being human. Many men might talk about their pride, honor, and integrity. For some men, hope can be a cost to this pride, integrity, and honor. But for Eric Draven, he saw in Shelly a sense of hope. Eric and Shelly were facing eviction in a city that was under constant threat of violence and harm from the crime lord Top Dollar (Michael Wincott). Yet, hope remained: It can’t rain all the time. For Eric to be able to understand his role as what he was (this spirit, and his mission), but also to extend a hand of friendship to Albrecht and Sarah. To see them for what they were: people who needed to be more, do more with their lives than the hands they were dealt? That is what being a man is about.  It is not simply about being strong, or tough, or whatever culture has taught us. It is about caring, and listening, and understanding. It is about being human, the essentials of being human. Goth has always had a softness around it: for all its black bluster and doom, it is a caring counterculture.

Last movie I watched was The Crow. While I think that Brandon Lee did a brilliant job with Eric Draven (which ... I have faith in Bill Skarsgard, but I don't have a lot of faith in the new script, I guess) ... my favourite character is Sgt Albrecht. He's a little ahead of his time when it comes to his response to the supernatural. Like, "This is some spooky shit but ... he's doing stuff about people I can't touch and he honestly seems more sad than anything else so I'll be spooked but not ... you know, *terrified* or anything. Poor kid doesn't need that". Also Ernie Hudson is a woefully underrated actor.

A Dream of Summer Rain: Chapter 34
The interrogation room was a surprisingly pleasant place. A small dome situated somewhere in the countryside, it had a gorgeous view of pristine farmland under the setting sun. Gwen sat at the far end of a rectangular table, Quentin on her left hand side and Joshua on her right. Alice was next to Joshua, her scarred arms bound in sleeves and folded across her chest. The room was cool, almost cold, from the high-running air conditioning unit at the far end. The walls were wooden with a healthy brown finish, the floor covered with an andalusian rug.
Gwen shivered. They’d been taken to a holding facility an hour outside of Peoria, interrogated individually, and then brought here all together.
The door opened behind them, and an FBI agent entered. He was African American, short and stocky with a youthful, almost pretty face and a clean-shaven pate. He wore an immaculate suit, and under his arms he carried an old radio. He sat down at the opposite end of the table as Gwen, and placed his radio before him.
“Sir,” Gwen started, “I-”
The FBI agent raised a hand to cut her off, but said nothing. Instead, he simply placed a tape into the radio, and hit play. Beethoven’s Ninth symphony began playing.
“Look, Mister FBI Agent,” Alice said. “We-”
“Hush!” the agent snapped. He closed his eyes and began humming along with the music.
“Sir!” Quentin said. “I really must-”
“I said hush!” the agent said once again.
Gwen and Quentin made eye contact, both with their mouths open but no words coming out. The agent raised his hands and moved them in time with the music, as if he were conducting the orchestra himself. Joshua simply nodded along to all this.
Finally, Symphony Number Nine concluded, and the agent ejected the tape from the player. “Sublime, isn’t it?” he asked.
It took a moment before Gwen realized he expected an answer. “Yes. Absolutely.”
“Glad you agree,” the agent said. “My name is Special Agent Hannibal DeRosier. I’m with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It's a pleasure to meet you all.”
“Likewise,” Gwen said.
“Indubitably!” Quentin said.
Joshua nodded sagely.
“Yeah, sure,” Alice said.
“Your names are Alice Katherine Carmichael, Joshua Binyamin DaSilva, Quentin Brandon Jeong, and Guinevere Priscilla Albrecht. And you’re all, hold on,” he said, reaching into his suit pocket and retrieving a notepad. “Monster hunters. With the Damocles Guild. Is that correct?”
“What’s left of it,” Alice sighed. Gwen put a hand on her shoulder, and Alice gave it a squeeze. She’d softened a bit in the past week- it was jarring, but not unwelcome. And besides, her life had been torpedoed arguably worst of all.
“Brandon?” Joshua said, as if considering the word.
“Had I not mentioned that, chum?” Quentin asked.
“I may have forgotten.”
“Gentlemen, ladies, please,” Agent DeRosier said, “You’re not gonna wanna talk out of turn too much here. If it helps at all, you’re not being charged with anything. Yet.”
“Yet?” Gwen asked.
“It’s tentative. We reserve the right to revoke it later.”
“And what do we have to do to make that not happen?”
“Cooperate,” Agent DeRosier said, “Tell me what I’d like to know, what my superiors need to know, before we can decide on what to do next.”
“We already gave you our individual statements,” Alice said.
“Yes. But I wanted to see all of you together before I made any decisions. And so does my boss.”
Gwen looked to the side, at the massive mirror substituting for a wall. “Your boss is watching us right now?”
“Ding ding ding,” DeRosier said. “Perceptive. So. Carmichael, you’re the leader of the Guild now, are you not?”
“Yes,” Alice said in a harsh whisper. Her mother was missing in action, along with the rest of the leadership- they’d all gone up in flames in Chicago the same night as the attack on Peoria. The media had labeled it a mass shooting, though nobody was sure what the general public believed right now. With the Master Hunters all gone, Alice was one of the highest ranking members left. She hadn’t said anything about it yet, but the look on her face was of someone coming to terms with her family getting smaller.
“Can you tell me about the incident in Leafton, New York, five years ago?”
Alice drew a deep breath through her nose. “Five years ago, my hometown was under attack by a serial killer. People kept going missing, without even a single trace. It turned out to be a ghoul- a powerful, well-fed one. My mom was in South America at the time, dealing with a Sovereignty skirmish down there, so she left it to me to save Leafton.”
“A federal agent was dispatched to investigate that as well, if you’ll recall.”
“Yes. Agent Dunne. She was reckless, and it got her killed. By the time I caught up to her, the ghoul was halfway through eating her intestines.”
“And you neglected to share this information with Agent Dunne, about the ghoul, about the true nature of the investigation, when it could have saved her life?”
Alice said nothing, simply sat on her hands.
“Well?” DeRosier said.
“Yes, that’s correct. It’s against Guild policy to share that information, especially with any kind of governing body.”
“I see,” DeRosier said. “Mr. DaSilva, when you were in Mexico three years ago, fighting a… Chupacabra?”
“A chupacabra.”
“Yes, a chupacabra, did you bother to alert the police?”
“No.”
“And consequently, four cops died responding to a call you couldn’t get to in time.”
Joshua nodded, then shed a single stoic tear.
“And Mr. Jeong-”
“It’s true, all of it,” Quentin said, hanging his head, his long black hair falling in front of his face. “I’ve failed to live up to my own honor trying to live up to the honor of the Guild, to maintain its byzantine policies-”
“Byzantine?” Alice sneered.
“Byzantine seems an apt word,” DeRosier said, “Keep going.”
“At least one member of the Los Angeles Police Department should have been made aware of what I was doing before I raided that Striga’s nest in Torrance.”
“I thought you said nobody died in that one?” Gwen said.
“Nobody did. Except the Striga. But the raid was in a crowded area, and half the neighborhood was detained, interrogated, or in a few cases arrested for my illegal actions. I saw the consequences of my behavior and I left before I could be held accountable.”
“You saved lives,” DeRosier said. “All of you did. But there was a cost. And you know all about that, don’t you, Ms. Albrecht?”
Gwen placed her palms flat on the table, stared directly ahead, and breathed out through her nose.
“Now, Ms. Albrecht, there’s a record of you taking a stay at a rehab facility in Wyoming about five years ago. You checked yourself in, stayed for a full year, and then broke out in the middle of the night rather than transition to the sober living outpatient facility normally recommended. There are no records of you… Anywhere, really, prior to that, and you vanished right back into the aether afterwards. Is that correct?”
“Yes,” Gwen said, shame leaking out her mouth.
“Are you aware of what happened at that rehab facility two years ago?”
Gwen shut her eyes, gathered her fingers into fists. Her head grew heavy and her breath laborious. “Do I want to know?”
“Probably not, but I’m gonna tell you anyway,” DeRosier said with a shrug of his shoulders. “It was attacked by what you people call ghouls. The place was reduced to ash and dust. All the patients’ and staffers’ bodies were never found.”
“They ate them,” Gwen said. “I knew them, and they… Ate them.”
“My condolences,” DeRosier said. “Truly. But I need to ask you about one more incident: the one in Alaska, fifteen years ago.”
Gwen’s fingers uncurled. Quentin and Joshua looked at her with concern, and Alice with confusion.
DeRosier began rewinding his tape. “Okay, here’s the deal: we’re willing to drop a lot of charges against you fine folk if you help us out here. This threat from the Sovereignty is bigger than any screw-ups you’ve committed in the past: we’re willing to clean your proverbial slates. But you need to come clean, all of you, about your activities with the Damocles Guild, or you’re all under arrest. And that starts with telling us about the Alaska incident, because a whole lot of it seems to lead back to that. So, Ms. Albrecht, why don’t you start?”
Gwen exhaled, a vortex of anxiety and guilt spiraling inside her. “Why don’t you just call me Gwen. We’re gonna be working together, after all.”

@cervinesatyr replied to your post “Man, Brandon Lee as Eric... he does give one hell...”:
insane isnt it
He's fucking solid. The scene where he meets Albrecht and goes "They're all dead. They just don't know it yet." is chilling. And when he goes into the pawn shop quoting the Raven.

Albrecht extended scenes-
I wish these were kept in. There is so many little moments with him that pack a punch in the greater scheme of things. More to the world and more to him and Eric’s character. A lot of these are just a few more lines to the existing scenes but they are SO so much. It’s really unfair that a lot of character or emotional moments were sliced from the film with no real reason? Anyway here’s a few of them.
Outside the pawn shop-
Tumblr media
“You don’t remember me?”
“Is that blood-.”
“I remember you…”
Anyways I’m taking this as confirmation of my theory that they knew each other when he was alive. Even if it was on some basic level.
“Murdered?!…. He was already dead.”
He says it in his more “crazy” unbothered tone but by the look on his face, there is such a shock and offense behind his words. That anything done to tin tin could even be considered murder. No, to him anything done to tin tin is deserved. ‘Murder’ constitues some level of innocence. I LOVE this little extra second to death.
In the apartment-
Something I like about extended cuts is it shows how Talkative? Eric can be, he likes to restate things or agree when people say the opposite “y-yuh-you died man. You got burried..” “yes, I did…you still have your hat on.” He says it so flatly i-
Albrechts “I can’t process this shit” should have been kept in. Eric also cocks his head side to side simply staring at the man… much like a crow.
The specific detail that Shelly “her body just kind of gave it up” after the 30 hours.
“But she only said one thing to me before she died.”
“…My name..”
OW- why would you cut this?!
“That T-bird and his goon squad share his taxes”
“And death.”
I thought you were invincible - alternate take
Tumblr media
“What happened?”
“I got shot.”
“I KNOW y’a got SHot!”
It shouldn’t be as funny to me as it is.
“I’m not anymore, sorry.”
I love a lot of these extended scenes and alternate takes purely from Eric being a lot more genuine. He’s more sarcastic then he lets on, and more sympathetic- which is another lead to the comic. He doesn’t talk as much as he should? Like one of the momment s in the extended Funboy scene. I think the movie is afraid of ? Conversation? If that makes sense.
I think I messed up -
Right after Albrecht gets shot
“…y-your…g-gonna get…cha self killed….again.”
I love moments like this. I truely wish they kept them in just the little half second more. It really demonstrates the dynamic between the two of them as they grow closer, more trusting enough to be able to jab at each other . These moments show a lot, another thing I love is that Eric reached out to help Myca before she fell, genuinely trying to help this woman and it’s - hhhhhh.
I swear someone was trying to cut all the “sappy” sad, emotional etc moments from this movie. As right after at the top of the tower there’s another wonderful “I’m coming home Shelly” moments, a whispered and honest phrase as he’s already half dying(again) and I adore it. The movie already does so so much in relation to the graphic novel, the story, the heart and the deeper meaning, but it’s the way they cut out a lot of the conversation, sad and hard hitting lines that gets to me. Someone up there in production was scared of making the movie what if’s supposed to be emotion> violence/action. It’s a conspiracy.

Eric Draven visits Ofc. Albrecht in a classic scene from one of my all-time favorite movies, “The Crow”. I wish they would have kept it going to the end of the scene.
