Thank you Derek, menswear guide, for reminding me why paying more to be free advertising for brands is dumb.

It’s a little disappointing to see that brands, as well as art and design communities, haven’t shown more recognition or support for the earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand.

"Electrify America" was an extremely stupid name for the Volkswagen Group to call their electric vehicle charging network. It really limits growth and brand identity. However, an even worse decision was calling their Canadian stations "Electrify Canada," especially when "Electrify America" could've worked for literally any country in North and South America.
Instead, they chose to make "America" exclusively mean the U.S.A., and now they've dug themselves into a hole. Is the companies name "Electrify"? Because that's kinda overly simple. It'll be hard to find brand identity in that. Is the company all these other names? That'll limit brand identity too. If the company wants to expand to smaller countries, is it gonna have a thousand subsidiaries? Volkswagen really flubbed that name.
