Hey @lrynt252! I saw your tags in a notification that movies are too loud for you and you have sensitive ears, and I'm here to #notsponsored tell you about something wonderful!
Flare Audio's "Calmer" collection! https://www.flareaudio.com/collections/calmer
I've been using them since the only version they had was the standard original, so I can't give reviews on the other varieties because I'm still just using the ones I've had for 3+ years, but they're mazing. As the Calmer Kids variety says, "Makes spiky sounds smooth."
As far as I'm aware, it won't help with things like tinnitus, but it DOES help when sounds are Too. Too spiky, too sharp, too grating, too shrill. They're great for cinemas, because it also helps with that guy two rows back who is just going ham on some popcorn in the middle of a quiet scene, along with the overpowering min-max tones of cinema speakers. I also take them to theme parks for standing in line in an indoor queue where everyone's voices are echoing and they just keep talking louder to be heard over everyone else's echoey voice and... you get the idea.
My wife reports that they also help with her chewing-noises misophonia (rage response to certain sound triggers -- mine is slurping/smacking, hers is crunching).
Anyway! I linked to their direct site up there but they also have a storefront where they sell through Amazon if that helps take some shipping charges off your plate.
Hope this helps!

What do you think of the idea that YouTubers in the 2010s are the reason Sonic had/has a bad reputation?
It's really stupid. Completely unfounded.
You know why Youtubers in 2010's felt that way? Because a lot of people outside of the Sonic fandom felt that way.
I was in high school when Sonic Adventure 1 came out. I got my Dreamcast for Christmas in 1999. Purely by surprise, my brother sent me $200 for Christmas that year after not hearing from him for a decade. I was living in Colorado, and we'd had a white Christmas, meaning the roads were too slick to drive anywhere on December 26th. But I knew I wanted that Dreamcast.
The local Wal-mart was a little over a mile away. So, I bundled up and hiked it. With other money I got for Christmas that year, I had just enough for the Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure, an off-brand VMU, an issue of Official Dreamcast Magazine with a demo disc, and a lightgun -- I'd wanted House of the Dead 2 and I was desperate for a home port of The Lost World.
I played Sonic Adventure all day, every day, for like a week. Some of that was the fault of the cheap VMU I got -- it wasn't even a VMU, it was just a memory card, and it was half the price of the official thing. For whatever reason, Sonic Adventure (and ONLY Sonic Adventure) had trouble saving to that thing. My saves would frequently corrupt and disappear. I didn't mind as much as you'd think. I willingly and happily replayed Sonic Adventure over, and over, and over, and over.
When I got back to school in January of 2000, a lot of other kids had gotten Dreamcasts and Sonic Adventure. And it turned out I was the Sonic Adventure evangelist.
I wouldn't say everyone hated Sonic Adventure, but they were pretty frustrated with it. The main talking point was that there were too many characters in the game and most of them weren't very good. Everyone had their ranking list for who they'd rather be playing as, and universally, everyone just wanted to keep playing as Sonic. Knuckles, Amy, and Big brought up the rear for the most-hated gameplay styles. A lot of kids were saying they weren't even going to bother finishing the game if it meant having to play as Amy and Big.
My point of view was that it was normal. Sonic 2 introduced Tails, Sonic 3 introduced Knuckles, so it makes sense that Sonic Adventure would introduce new playable characters as well. It did little to address their complaints that most of the non-Sonic characters were annoying.
This sentiment never went away. A year later, in 2001, Penny-Arcade, basically the biggest webcomic in the world at that point, awarded Sonic Adventure 2 "the best Sonic game where you do not play as Sonic" award, which was less of an actual award and more of a jab at how Sonic wasn't actually in 75% of that game.
Then the Gamecube ports started coming in, which, if you've watched my Definitive Way to Play series, you'd know that SA1 and SA2 were quick and dirty ports that introduced a lot of problems in visuals, control, and sound. Reviews for those versions deservedly slammed them, citing poor music that drowned out the dialog, rapidly dated visuals, and a generally buggy presentation, on top of all the problems people had with the original Dreamcast releases.
After that, the decline really hit its stride. Sonic Heroes, then Shadow the Hedgehog, then Sonic 06. A real triple whammy of things just getting worse, and worse, and worse. Sonic 06 in particular was so much worse that it hit the fabled point where it wrapped around to being kind of funny for some people.
All of this was YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS before "2010's Youtubers" ever stepped in front of a microphone. Those people were just recounting the lives they had lived.
Anyone who thinks 2010's Youtubers did anything are just revealing how young they were back then, and how ignorant they were about the general temperature of things beyond "after my nappy time and my juice box I'm going to play the colorful animals game, yay!!!"
Before that gets me into too much trouble, I'd also like to say that obviously, times change. Opinions are a fluid thing. There will always be a "younger generation" that thinks about things in a different way than the older generation. Anyone, no matter what era they grew up in, can go back and find some beloved nostalgic classic getting blasted by critics. (For example: recently I rewatched Howard the Duck, a legendary bomb for Lucasfilm, and I loved that movie as a kid)
Loving something that you realize everybody hated when it originally came out is kind of just part of the human experience. A rite of passage, almost. But it helps to embrace that perspective, understand it, and realize you can still keep liking that thing regardless.
2010's Youtubers did nothing except exist.

Holy Monday - Dagger Man
Sidenote: it's horrendously late, in my own time zone and Holy Monday is gone for good. Hoping yesterday's wonderful SC news are enough for you to forgive me, I go ahead with my short personal notes on what is perhaps one of the most complicated stories of this week.
Enter Judas Iscariot, whose name is perhaps a local corruption of the Latin term for 'dagger man': sicarius.
Who is he? We are told he was one of The Twelve chosen ones, but our Bibles are, to say the least, not very talkative when it comes to this man. We do not know what his merits are and many risk a seriously tragical confusion with the other Judas, 'son of James'. Perhaps in the same way Mary of Bethany is still mistaken by many for Mary Magdalene herself.
Today's episode is a throwback: 'Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead' (John, 12:1)'
We don't know very well where the following episode happens (in Lazarus' house? somewhere else?) and for the first two days of the Holy Week, the Evangelists' reports are either vague or even conflicting. A woman named Mary approaches. Clearly, more than a sympathizer, yet barely tolerated by what clearly is a gender segregated assembly, where women serve a dinner they never join in. Something still very much happening in the Mediterranean world, by the way:
'Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. (John, 12:3)'
Is she a prostitute? A rich patron? I have always thought, perhaps wrongly, there was something very erotic in that choreography, for hair is a very strong sexual symbol and even more so in the Ancient World (think Egyptian wigs and also, heh, Samson). Something that also reminded me of Salome's fateful dance of the seven veils.
Experts have calculated, for dry amusement probably, the cost of that 'ointment' in today's money, which is disingenuous, to say the least. Nevertheless, that's easily the price tag of a brand new Mercedes, with all the bells and whistles. Judas immediately puts things into context and speaks like a corporate CFO: 'Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?' (John, 12:5)
You think this is what a good manager would do, right? Well, think twice. John does not like Judas. At all. He immediately tells us who he thinks that strange man really is: 'Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him' (John, 12:4). And, which is perhaps even worse, a corrupted treasurer of sorts: 'not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein' (John, 12:6).
Jesus' answer to this apparent practical dilemma is very clear: ' Let her alone (...), for the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always' (John, 12: 8-9). Judas' enormous mistake is to transform what obviously is a spiritual matter into a vulgar, political one. Throwing money into the mix, instrumentalizing it for what we would today call 'propaganda purposes' is at complete odds with His entire message.
But sometimes even the voice of Heaven has trouble making itself heard. This is why I have chosen for today a simple, short shofar sound, from Miklós Rózsa 's original soundtrack for Ben Hur:

Having just ran from the terrifying evangelists at my college campus, (not my proudest moment ahaha) I’m thinking about college evangelism in the silt verses world.
—————————-
Faiths toting their looming pet saints around the central square, chained on each side to cheerful young adults in matching colored t shirts who intermittently pull at them to keep them centered and on path, so that they do not break their chains and give chase. The saints moan softly, their many limbs and many towering faces teetering gently in the breeze like macabre parade floats
_______
Prophets offering tastes of their God’s power like free branded keychains at a booth near the duck pond. “Just hold my hand for a moment and watch your flesh bloom into something greater!”
They drop a crimson seed in your palm, and You scream in fear as bloody red roots grow down and bloody red leaves grow up.
Just as quickly as it grows it crumbles, and you are left with a cauterized scar in the shape of a thorn, itching and burning and glowing like an ember.
“See, see, that wasn’t so bad, grow with us Wednesdays at 3pm in the ecology building, room 104.”
They hand you a goodie bag and you move to the next booth.
——————
Posters printed with cheerful prayer marks in the library basement. Don’t look too close or your peripheral vision begins to twist and unfurl into dizzying fractals of light until all you can see is the poster itself.
“Community!” It reads. “Friends! Games! Free food! practice sacrifice on your peers to prepare for a successful future! See in colors unseen!”
In small text at the bottom it reads
*by reading the entirety of this poster you are contractually liable to be sacrificed at random by the SPEC (students of the prismatic eye community). Join our licensed faith today!
You tear your eyes away at last and blurrily check your schedule. Looks like Wednesdays at three are all clear.

lolol the way spn standom treats this canon it supposedly loves so much is a crisis every single day and I know the show is over so people think it’s not supposed to matter the way it once did but it matters. I’m not going to just sit here while that source text gets mangled in an endless loop by most of what’s left of spn “fandom.” It is not only record breaking as the longest running genre tv series on US broadcast history (or streaming too), it’s among the greatest genre series in US tv history. Flaws and all. It is. I am just going to say it. It deserves better than to be relegated to the chronic ~edgy hot take that it’s the worst show ever and people shouldn’t like it. GTFO if you hate it so much.
* the “everything about this sucks after S3 mentality” or “everything about this sucks since Kripke left” needs to get thrown into a hole. These aren’t spn fans. They were once upon a time probably but no longer are and they need to leave.
* the parasocialized lenses warping the canon takes, where people have latched onto any of J2M to the point where they’ve allowed it to govern how they perceive the entire show and characters instead of seeing the story as a story and the characters as they actually are in canon and where they literally think spn sprang fully formed out of J2M’s brains and writers don’t exist. My kingdom for some media literacy.
* narrow-minded warped lenses that keep thumping on like evangelists about how the show is only about the brothers and the entire rich narrative gets flushed down the toilet by these so-called bestest truest stans ever. They do not pay attention to this canon, they do not appreciate this canon, they’re fixated on a broship, and that’s the extent of their ability to comprehend the actual source text of a show they are supposedly such huge fans of. Also years of marketing is also guilty on this. Guilty!! J’accuse, marketing. Marketing is a simplistic packaged gloss and does not reflect the richness within. Some of the marketing reflects more of that richness, but mostly the standard branding line “about two brothers” gets slapped on it and reality is a whole lot more to it. People don’t really use critical thinking or media literacy to understand that’s just the backbone construct of it and not a reflection of all the actual flesh.

Rick Pidcock at Baptist News Global:
Growing up as an independent fundamentalist Baptist, the highlight of each year for our church was the weeklong revival meeting, where we began each night with songs that prepared our hearts for a sermon by a fiery evangelist who then gave an altar call to get us to commit our lives to the cause. So, imagine if that same formula were applied to the 2024 election by a group of conspiracy theorists who openly admitted their plan was to be a “Trojan Horse” at polling stations in order to “make history this November.”
What might the worship look like? What would the sermon be about? What would the altar call be for? And how concerned should the rest of us be? Unfortunately, we don’t have to imagine because that’s exactly what is happening at The Courage Tour, which is branded as a “revival in seven key states … marking the dawn of our nation’s Third Great Awakening.” The Courage Tour has been organized by Lance Wallnau, an independent charismatic apostle who is popular in the New Apostolic Reformation and a promoter of the Seven Mountain Mandate call for Christians to dominate every part of society. According to Matthew Taylor, author of The Violent Take It By Force: The Christian Movement That Is Threatening Our Democracy, Wallnau is “Donald Trump’s most effective spiritual propagandist.” In addition to Wallnau, the Courage Tour also features speakers such as Lou Engle, Allen West, Marjorie Taylor Greene and many others. Meetings this year have targeted Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin, with additional swing states slated in the coming months.
[...]
The sermon
With hearts prepared to celebrate kingship, resistance to demons, a God who fights, victory and enemies drowning, the worshipers listened to the likes of Wallnau, who took the stage with the power and authority of a traveling evangelist.
The promo video includes clips of speakers saying:
America is under a spirit of delusion.
America has abandoned God.
Women are being used as pawns, which is exactly what the Left does.
We’ve given the keys to our church to the government and said: “Government, you run this church. You make the decisions for me.”
When we vacate the public square and leave that to chance, something fills the void.
When liberty hangs in the balance, and your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews come to you and they say, “Where were you when tyranny knocked on our door,” what are you going to tell them?
What’s it actually going to take? Seriously, what kind of trigger point will cause the church just to come out of this zombie stupor and say: “OK that’s it. I’ve had it”?
The church shouldn’t be in a bunker waiting on the rapture, but it ought to be invading the mountains of influence for the glory of God.
We have to save our nation. We have to save our children.
We don’t have the luxury of disunity.
Fighting for liberty and freedom is difficult. It is hard. Choose your hard.
When the mothers suddenly see and perceive the organized threat against their little boys and their little girls, then they will rise up.
You’ve got a nation to save. You’ve got grandchildren to save.
Remember, those are the comments they were willing to highlight in their promo video. One wonders what may have been said they weren’t willing to highlight.
Common themes include spreading conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 election and the January 6 insurrection. At one of the events, Wallnau said: “January 6 was not an insurrection. It was an election fraud intervention.”
[...]
The ‘Lion of Judah’ election workers
But perhaps the most concerning call to action at the Courage Tour is their recruitment of election workers through Lion of Judah, an organization that assists Christians to register as election workers with a cause. “Just imagine. It’s election night. Chaos is happening. The polls are closing. They go and the volunteers are getting kicked out,” Lion of Judah’s founder Joshua Caleb Standifer told the Courage Tour crowd. “But what if we had Christians across America and swing states like Wisconsin that were actually the ones counting the votes and making sure it was happening?” Lion of Judah is composed of election deniers who say, “What happened in 2020 can never happen again!” This is precisely why they were so popular at the Courage Tour. Taylor noted, “I was present throughout the Courage Tour event on Monday, and it was rife with 2020 election denialism from the stage, in conversations among attendees and in the literature at the booths.”
Rick Pidcock writes for Baptist News that far-right election denial and conspiracy theories linked to Christian nationalism are a big concern, such as The Lion Of Judah outfit whose goal is recruitment of election workers in support of subverting fair elections.

Just saw that post about the guy sending you nasty stuff. Figured you could get a normal ask (or at least my brand of weird). So here you go:
Which Saint is your favorite one? Personally I'm partial to Saint Luke the Evangelist.
Lol thanks. It's annoying and not welcome. But people are gonna be people.
My favorite saints are
St. Drogo (patron of ugly people)
St. Clotilde (patron of disappointing children)
St. Dymphna (patron of mental illness, runaway children, and my confirmation saint)

When Carl Weathers auditioned for the role of Apollo Creed, the prizefighter who gives an untried contender a shot at his heavyweight title in Rocky (1976), he was asked to read opposite the film’s writer. “Now – I’m ignorant – and as I finish reading, I say, ‘Well, wait a minute, if you can get me a real actor to read with, I can do this a lot better.’”
Unbeknown to him, his scene partner was the newcomer Sylvester Stallone, who had not only written the script but was playing the title role. “Somehow I got the job,” said Weathers.
A 6ft 2in former NFL linebacker, Weathers, who has died aged 76, brought the full force of his charisma to a role that could in less skilful hands have prompted straightforward hisses and boos. There was a depth and kindness to him that no amount of on-screen braggadocio could conceal. He spoke, said one LA Times reporter, with the “overly concise diction of a TV evangelist”.
To prepare for the role of Apollo, Weathers watched old Muhammad Ali fights for inspiration. Shot for peanuts, the film grossed $225m, won three Oscars, including best picture, and spawned four sequels. A further three films in the spin-off Creed cycle featured Michael B Jordan as Apollo’s son Adonis.
Weathers was taken aback by the instant fame that Rocky brought him. The day after the film opened, he said, “I was out for a walk in Manhattan and street vendors are yelling, ‘Yo, Apollo.’ That is scary. You are not prepared for that.”
He reprised his role in the first three Rocky sequels. Rocky II (1979) begins immediately after the events of the original film, with both fighters in wheelchairs, coming face-to-swollen-face with one another in the hospital.
“Get up out of that chair, chump, and let’s finish this fight right now!” Apollo demands, having won only on a split decision after 15 rounds. Later, there is a moment of tenderness when Rocky, bandaged and slurring, wheels himself to Apollo’s hospital room late at night, nudges open his door, and asks whether Apollo really gave the match his all.
Though they decide initially against a rematch, Apollo becomes incensed by the hate mail he receives branding the fight a fake. Rocky II ends with the opponents bloodied on the canvas. Struggling to his feet, Rocky is declared the winner.
In Rocky III (1982), Apollo trains Rocky against a vicious new opponent, Clubber Lang (Mr T). The old adversaries get back in the ring at the end of that film for a friendly sparring match, the outcome of which remained a secret until Rocky revealed to Adonis in Creed (2015) that Apollo had clinched it. In Rocky IV (1985), Apollo is brutally trounced in a bout with the Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). He dies in Rocky’s arms.
Weathers found many of the subsequent roles he was offered to be “pointless and meaningless”. But he enjoyed squaring off against another of that decade’s action heroes – Arnold Schwarzenegger – in the fantasy thriller Predator (1987).
In their first scene together, the men greet each other with a handshake that develops into an impromptu arm-wrestling contest. It is won by Schwarzenegger, his bicep bulging monstrously in close-up – a clear case of the more famous actor literally flexing his celebrity muscle.
Weathers later meets a sticky end during an encounter in the jungle with a shape-shifting alien. He loses an arm – his finger is still firing the trigger of his automatic weapon even as the limb falls to the ground – before expiring with a blood-curdling scream.
During his down-time on Predator, the actor developed with the film’s producer Joel Silver a lead role for himself as a Detroit detective in his own shoot-’em-up adventure, Action Jackson (1988), though a hoped-for franchise never materialised.
He acquitted himself well in the Adam Sandler golfing comedy Happy Gilmore (1996) as a pro golfer whose hand is bitten off by an alligator; in one scene, he sits at a grand piano on a golf course playing We’ve Only Just Begun. He reprised the role in Sandler’s Little Nicky (2000) but was even funnier as a tight-fisted, cost-cutting version of himself in four episodes of the sitcom Arrested Development between 2004 and 2013.
Weathers was born in New Orleans, the eldest son of a labourer father. He won a sports scholarship to St Augustine high school, then attended Long Beach Poly high school and Long Beach City College. He made it to San Diego State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in theatre.
His professional football career began in 1970 with a single season with the Oakland Raiders. After being dismissed for being “too sensitive”, he played for two years with the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League. “How good was I? I was good enough to make it … But I was never dedicated enough. I was never in love with football.” Acting, he said, was “a lot more fun, and I ache a lot less.”
He retired from football in 1974 and won supporting roles in television series such as The Six Million Dollar Man (1975) and Starsky and Hutch (1976), and with Pam Grier in the blaxploitation thrillers Bucktown and Friday Foster (both 1975).
After Rocky, he starred with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson in the football comedy Semi-Tough (1977); with Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford in the Guns of Navarone sequel Force 10 from Navarone (1978); and alongside Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin in the thriller Death Hunt (1981). He also wrote and performed the 1981 soul single You Ought to Be With Me.
Television work was plentiful, though attempts to fashion a long-running TV vehicle for him were hit-and-miss. In Fortune Dane (1986), he played a political troubleshooter battling white-collar crime; the show lasted six episodes. Its producer Barney Rosenzweig called Weathers “one of the more intelligent people I’ve ever been in business with. But he’s a physical animal. He’s gorgeous … The guy looks like a Greek god.”
He was a regular on Street Justice (1991-93), In the Heat of the Night (1993-95), inspired by the 1967 Sidney Poitier film of the same name, and Chicago Justice (2017).
Weathers also provided the voice of Combat Carl in Toy Story 4 (2019) and played the bounty hunter Greef Karga in the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian (2019-23).
Weathers’ three marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by two sons, Jason and Matthew, from his first marriage, to Mary Ann Castle in 1973.

Not a very profound thing to point out and probably something that’s been said before, but Karolina Górka from Underground though always tracking dirt, does not seem like an avatar. She is definitely marked by Choke after her experience on the Underground, but she lacks the obsession that all other avatars possess. I think of her similar in a sense to Leto from Like Ants, though he was actively trying it seems to become an avatar. They are both marked but not quite “enough” to be an evangelist for their related fears. Karolina in fact seems to hold no fear related to the Buried whatsoever, and I struggle to think of her being that great of a victim for that entity or any entity. I could very easily see her becoming an agent of the end if she ever encountered the means to. And to reference Like Ants again, had John and Martin found her somewhere deep underground in season 5 I’m sure the eye would make her an avatar of dirt and crushing screaming metal.
It strikes me as interesting that the buried seems to have the most amount of recorded escapes. While it is true that everyone in the magnus archives survives long enough to give a statement, many of these people subsequently die from the very things they were giving a statement about, rarely through other means. If they do survive they are haunted by these events and similar fears for the rest of their lives. But Karolina Górka and Joshua Gillespie both had close encounters with the Buried and were able to get themselves through it. I find it hard to believe Joshua would have lingering fears about something he “forgot was even there” except when it rained. And Karolina still takes the underground.
Not predators, but not good prey either. Leto doesn’t quite fit this as his own love and respect for ants made him especially good for a unique brand of torture, but Joshua and Karolina are both in this unique limbo state. And after encountering the same entity no less.

Last post about Left Behind, I promise.
I'm as surprised as you are that the book isn't over yet.
Anyways, for those just tuning in, our cast: Rayford Steele, pilot and newly minted evangelist; Chloe Steele, getting evangelized to; Bruce Barnes, source of spiritual guidance and exposition in unequal measure; Buck Williams, newly promoted magazine editor and reporter; Nicolae Carpathia, the Antichrist and the only character I like; Hattie Durham, Rayford's emotional sidepiece who's moving on to better things, and by "better things" I mean Nicolae.
In Chapter 20 Buck sees Chloe for the first time and is immediately "stunned." Oh god no.
In Chapter 22 Chloe becomes a born-again Christian. Or, technically, she recounts how she became a born-again Christian to Buck, who's deliberately gotten himself a seat next to her on a plane. She decides that Buck's sitting next to her is, rather than Buck being creepy, God answering her prayers. I don't know quite what kind of example this is setting but I don't like it.
In Chapter 23, Nicolae becomes secretary-general of a revamped United Nations, which the authors think means King of the World. Earlier in the story he had set a number of conditions to his accepting the role - such as disarmament of member states, his election being unanimous, and the UN being moved to Babylon (which has for some reason been rebuilt in this universe) - all of which are enthusiastically met. In a better book this would be evidence of a far-reaching ability to manipulate minds, but as it is I can't tell where Nicolae's Antichrist powers end and this world's endemic insanity begins.
Nicolae also discusses plans to create a one world religion as though religion is in any way the UN's business. What do the authors think the UN does?
Throughout the second half of the book Bruce has been emphasizing how horrible the coming years will be and how most new Christians will die horrible deaths. The characters have discussed this multiple times, but if they're anxious about it for longer than a few minutes, the narration doesn't show it. Usually I'd criticize such a thing, but this is, in my experience, pretty on-brand for Christians. I've heard several of my Catholic school teachers treat the persecution of Christians in America as an inevitability, before getting on with the curriculum as though they haven't just given a bunch of twelve-year-olds a new reason to be anxious. (I am bitter.)
After wrestling for a few chapters, in Chapter 24 Buck finally says the magic words (in a bathroom, immediately before a press conference with Nicolae) and becomes a True Christian. The immediate consequence of this is that he can now sense that Nicolae is evil despite having no hard evidence for his misdeeds.
Almost immediately afterwards Nicolae shoots two guys in front of an entire press conference, so I really don't think Buck sensing his evil was necessary.
And immediately after that Nicolae uses his powers to erase everyone's memories of the event - except Buck, who is protected by the plot God. Nicolae had previously something about how the people present will "understand cognitively" that he is in charge, even without remembering it, which sounds like the authors just wanted Nicolae to do something bad without it affecting the plot. Cowards.
At the end of it all Buck tells the Steeles and Bruce that Nicolae is without a doubt the Antichrist. All I can think is that it would be so funny if he were wrong, the Antichrist were someone else, and Nicolae just had powers for no reason. It wouldn't have made for a good book, but the book wasn't good anyway and it would at least be funny.
That's Left Behind for you. My posts about the next books in the series will be spread out a bit more because I'm going on vacation and won't have access to my computer all the time. Still, expect a considerable volume of posts about this over the next month or so, because these books are just so easy to make fun of.
See you in the next book!

I looked through some press in the past, and they described the Evangelist as a “fifth member of the band”, if I recall correctly. They could have been over exaggerating, or there were some big plans for that character before…I wonder what instrument she might have played?
It's my understanding that a lot P3 was scrapped, which is too bad because it feels very incomplete, and it doesn't mesh well with the the direction they took in more recent phases. I do wonder how a complete P3 would have impacted the canon - how do they evolve into a more family friendly brand? I guess they could play a reincarnation card if they kill everyone off in P3 🤔. That might actually be cool - Murdoc (in the original lore) is a fallen angel who's lived through multiple time periods...so maybe he finds fame with a different band in each "life cycle" or w/e until...? Does he stay stuck in that cycle? Does he eventually learn to move on? Or does he love the experience of being human too much to ever truly change? This goes against the whole "found family thing," but idk...personally would I wouldn't mind trading that for what could be a really interesting Murdoc story.
Idk what they were planning with the Evangelist. I don't remember their role coming up in any lore reveal Cass has shared since he started talking about P3 again.

Decoding the Essence: Unraveling the Nuances of Logo Design& Branding
In the realm of design and business, the terms "logo design" and "branding" are often used interchangeably. However, Glasgow-based Brand Evangelist and accomplished freelance graphic designer Brian McGuffie delves into the distinct differences between these two crucial components in this insightful blog.
Demystifying Branding, Identity, and Logo Design Let's set the record straight from the outset: a logo is not a brand, and it isn't an identity either. While they are interconnected, logo design, identity design, and branding each play distinct roles that collectively shape the perceived image of a business or product.
What Constitutes a Brand? At its core, a brand encompasses the emotional corporate image that stakeholders perceive as a unified whole. It's the intangible essence that evokes feelings, values, and associations among audiences. Branding, therefore, goes far beyond visuals; it's about cultivating an emotional connection with the target market.
The Visual Identity Unveiled Zooming in, we encounter the realm of identity design. This facet revolves around the visual elements that collectively contribute to the overall brand image. Identity design encapsulates the colours, typography, imagery, and design elements that harmoniously amalgamate to represent the brand's personality and values.
The Emblematic Logo Enter the logo—a concise yet impactful visual representation of a business or product. A logo takes on the form of a mark or an icon, succinctly capturing the essence of the entity it represents. It's the emblem that serves as an immediate identifier, leaving a lasting imprint on the minds of consumers.
Delving Deeper into the Dynamics Bringing these components together is akin to orchestrating a symphony. A comprehensive brand strategy integrates logo design and identity design into a harmonious whole. The logo acts as the entry point—a gateway to the larger brand narrative. Identity design follows suit by weaving a cohesive visual thread across various touchpoints, from packaging to online platforms.
The Intricate Dance of Business, Brand, and Consumer In today's fast-evolving business landscape, comprehending the intricate interplay between business, brand, and consumer holds unprecedented importance for commercial success. Recent seismic shifts in the branding arena underscore the vitality of this understanding. Brands that resonate with insiders and consumers alike triumph not merely due to marketing prowess, but by fostering a genuine belief in their essence.
As the business world continues to reshape itself, grasping the distinctions between logo design, identity design, and branding becomes pivotal. Brian McGuffie's insightful exploration serves as a beacon, shedding light on these nuances and steering businesses toward impactful branding strategies. For everyone navigating the realms of advertising, marketing, and business, this knowledge is nothing short of indispensable.
