“Boybands have been known to be used as puppets, and a marketable commodity that have a shelf life, but fame comes alongside. And I think that the great loss of that young man from One Direction is an eye opener to everybody in the music business. It’s all well and good to make money from young guys in the band, so well and good to promote their brand and their music. Somebody needs to take care of their mental state. Somebody needs to take care and make sure that they are ok.”

Alright, now that the rumors about the Brits have pretty much been put to rest, can people please stop pushing for a "reunion" at the expense of real people? After watching the Boyzone docuseries, where Ronan Keating openly talked about how traumatic it was for the four of them to perform together after Stephen Gately’s death—he even said it should never have happened—I think it's important to remember that if the rest of One Direction chooses never to reunite on stage as a group again, you all need to respect their decision and move on from the idea of a "reunion."

Hi Marte,
you heard about the Sky Originals docu about Boyzone?
The music industry is rotten to the core. Even just the trailer is heartbreaking. Poor lads. Fuck Loius Walsh.
I guess a docu about 1D would be very revealing and painful af.

Hi, anon!
Yes, i saw the trailer on twitter when it came out. It's brutal. I can’t believe LW is sitting there openly talking about it with the firm belief that his contribution to all this made them successful. He doesn’t care about how they got successful, the pain and trauma it caused them, it's pretty sickening. I can't believe LW is sitting there smiling over Stephen's outing getting front page. A man who is gay and closeted himself. Showing no sympathy and only cares about the attention it brought them and the money he subsequently made from it. Fuck that.
All these docus coming out after Liam's death, showcasing the pain and trauma of boybanders, i hope this all leads to change, i really do. But my hopes aren’t up.

The way Boyzone was treated, was actually disgusting they were 16-18 years old. Louis Walsh literally fakes a news that they were in a plane crash? Not telling their families? Disgusting. They were unprotected. Stephen Gately was forced to come out gay something he wasn't ready for (which broke my mums heart). Media is disgustinng I'd like to think it's changed but it hasn't
If thats how Boyzone was treated in the 90s, I'd love a documentary on One Direction. Sad thing about one direction they had social media which made things worse.
Sorry for a little rant, Boyzone was the first band I ever loved them and Westlife

I really do hope his death changes some things. But I have so little faith it will.

Boyzone’s Keith Duffy has said Liam Payne’s death was an “eye-opener to everybody in the music business”, adding that artists should have access to mental health support. Appearing at the world premiere for new docu-series Boyzone: No Matter What, Duffy (50) reflected on what it was like to be in a boyband in the 1990s. “Boybands have been known to be used as puppets and a marketable commodity that have a shelf life, but fame comes alongside that,” he said. “And I think the great loss of that young man from One Direction is an eye-opener to everybody in the music business. “It’s all well and good to make money from young guys in a band. It’s all well and good to promote their brand and their music. “Somebody needs to take care of their mental state. Somebody needs to take care and make sure that they’re OK. They need to be kind.” One Direction star Payne died from “polytrauma” aged 31 on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

You wouldn't think a three part documentary about a 90's boyband would make me this angry and upset but here we are.
