Glimmer treats Bow like a slave

Glimmer and Bow's relationship in "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" is complex and multifaceted. Glimmer, as a leader, often feels the weight of responsibility and pressure to protect her kingdom and friends. This can lead her to be demanding and overbearing, especially towards those she trusts the most, like Bow.

Bow, on the other hand, is incredibly loyal and supportive, often putting Glimmer's needs above his own. This dynamic can sometimes make it seem like Glimmer is treating Bow more like a servant than a friend.

i just realized that one of the issues with Bow is that he has no personal motive.

obviously, war is a terrible thing and everyone getting involved to prevent it from spiraling is ideal, but the audience gets more attached to characters who have reasons for why they're in the plot.

Bow's entire reason is just because he's Glimmer's best friend. the 'black best friend' trope exists because writers don't give any motive or reason for why they're involved beyond 'they're the best friend of xyz, so they got strapped along'.

however, that's not to say you couldn't build up a character from that, especially Bow's. in fact, his arc of being the 'happy friend' could've been a commentary on how marginalized communities, esp the black community, are forced into a stereotype // role by others, seen as something less than human while proclaiming that they're 'representing' them.

the issue is that:

it happens far too late. this arc comes in the fourth season, when it could've been strongly implied and foreshadowed in earlier seasons and spiraled much sooner.

there's no conclusion. Bow is right where he started, just being the happy black best friend, and nothing that was written about him matters.

hell, the writers could've made it so he had no idea about the war originally because of his dads and their sheltering, then because of the protection the Whispering Woods provided from the Horde, only to be smack-dabbed in the middle of it when his life intertwines with Glimmer and Angella's, and later Adora's.

they could've made him leave Kyle behind on accident, because it was a stressful situation and he panicked, showing that he's human, only for him to realize he went back on his word and failed to save someone who was counting on him specifically.

where he succeeded with the staff in Dryl, he failed with Kyle in the Horde, ending up leaving behind a genuinely kind person who hasn't done harm to literally anyone.

like, if you're gonna claim it's a trio or a 'best friend squad', then involve all of them into your story, not just two of them. eventually three, with Catra's 'redemption'.

on paper, Bow is a really interesting character, and there's so much that could've been done with him, but the writers didn't care. they just acted like they did and that they were 'representing', when i still feel genuinely belittled by how empty he is.

we're not just here to cater to our lighter // whiter-skinned friends.

Furthermore Miles Morales has every reason to be at the center of crossovers and that includes that interdimentional relathionships/friendships are the literally the plot of his series.And there's no shortage of Miles-coded characters and characters Miles isn't necesarily similar to but would be close to anyway.Percy Jackson would adopt him as her little brother within a week of knowing him tops(and yes Percy is a trans woman,don't @ me with your horny bi guy Percy fakeassery),so would Jason Todd and he'd hit it off with all the other Batkids and him and Tim Drake would even be in love and end up together,Marinette Dupain-Cheng would never know the Batboys like that but she'd know Miles even better,Hiro Hamada AND Ruby Rose are both essentially wasian Miles variants and Momo Yaoyorozu is a blasian one AND she's latina too,Miles ending up in Amanda The Adventurer sounds more interesting than any of those MLP Creepypastas and i ain't even seen anybody draw him with Tiana,Sparkle Cadet,Bow,Koriand'r OR Goo.Cupcake deserves a whole Rotbtd saga of x-over buds.But y'all refuse to even look in his general direction,much less let him outshine your white faves you've ADMITTED are extremely badly written yet stick to while ignoring the canon black rep instead of adding to it.D*nny F*nton you will never be Miles
