With the update, it easy to understand why Lilia took in Silver despite knowing the truth about him when you realize he probably reminded Lilia of Malleus.

Like Malleus, the boy not only lost his parents as baby and result of war, but he spent hundreds of years crying all alone. And like Malleus, he needed love to “awaken” but never got it from anyone (till Lilia came along). The difference is that no one was there to snatch the baby from Lilia’s arm and thus he was able to give the boy all his love.

Some People read the whole series and still couldn't figure out what type of person Harry is. He needs answers, he doesn't trust the authority totally, if he didn't saw the whole crouch jr thing, he'd have forever mulled over it, agonizingly so. Yes Dumbledore isn't caring about how Harry needed time, but, Harry is in shock, a professor he admired throughout the year Turned out to be the one was hell bent on harming him. He needs answer and I don't fault Dumbledore for not letting McGonagall take him away.

Again, not saying McGonagall is wrong. She's absolutely correct that Harry needs to go to hospital and rest and needs to be taken care of by madam Pompfry but Dumbledore isn't wrong as well.

There are many times you can argue against Dumbledore, 1st year stupidity Or whatever tf it was included. But this one's not one of them.

Now, for the chi-square analysis to check if they're independent:

I chose p=0.05, which means "for the result to ba accidental, the result would need to roll a natural 20".

Basically, the critical value is what you want the chi-square to be above. Then you can say that with the probability you chose (here: 0.05), the two sets aren't independent.

More simply: If the chi-square (the thing in bottom right of the tables) is higher than the critical value, it means that your naming preferences are tied to your shipping preferences.

Interestingly, idiot#1 has a much stronger result than Idiot#2. Maybe it's because people who love Precious even w/o shipping are in my Tumblr's reach and the "Melkor did nothing wrong" crowd is not? IDK.

Also, Sauron has more shippers than no-shippers, Morgoth has an equal split.

Also, very few people use equal-ish mix of "Melkor" and "Morgoth", which is kind of surprising. You all don't talk much about pre-Darkening I guess? Or don't use the "whatever the guy was called at the time" convention. Interesting. I may do some more polls at some time.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Obsessed with characters who portray themselves as worse than they are. Who are lying to everyone including themselves about it. People generally assume if someone's lying about themselves they're trying to look better but sometimes they're trying to look worse. They attribute agency to where they had none, add intent to accidents, try to convince everyone that this is something they did instead of something that happened to them.
