Delizia Pizza Kitchen - Wootton Street in Boonton, NJ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many moons ago I tried the Delizia in Dover and thought it was decently enjoyable. After being recommended the one in Boonton I decided to check it out and see how it compared. I've tried Boonton pizza multiple times and have never been impressed. Would Delizia be the one to finally change that? Nope, not at all. I got a very overpriced buffalo chicken slice ($4.50 for a pretty small size) that had pretty much nothing going for it. The sauce made everything about the slice wet including some very mushy chicken. The flavor was also watered down and just disappointing. I feel like everything else looked even worse though because they all looked super pasty. If it were much cheaper I might've bumped it up a point, but as is you can get better pizza for cheaper pretty much anywhere.

The 89th Boonton Christmas Bird Count Report - 2024
White-crowned Sparrow (photo by Heather Van Dyk) The 89th annual Boonton Christmas Bird Count (CBC) took place on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Temperatures ranged from a pre-dawn 14°F rising up to 22°F in the afternoon. Thankfully, the day was sunny. However, occasional gusts of a north wind were bone-chilling. A thin layer of snow remained on the ground from a storm the previous Friday. Many…

Our Archivist recently processed a collection of papers from one of New Jersey's distinguished landscape architects, Joan S. Greentree, who championed the use of native plant species in residential and commercial design. Joan completed projects in California, Colorado, New York, and New Jersey and became one of the first women accepted by the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Greentree also accumulated a significant amount of research on the arts and crafts-style cottages built in the 1930s by Claude and Helen Habberstad. Having owned a Habberstad House, she appreciated their experimental design that was intended to blend into the surrounding countryside. At the height of the Great Depression, the Habberstads set out to build affordable houses in the Boonton area for those working in larger towns nearby.

Additional information about the Joan S. Greentree Collection, including the finding aid to the records, can be found here.

New Video: High. Returns with Swooning and Anthemic "Flowers"
New Video: High. Returns with Swooning and Anthemic "Flowers" @Highasfuckband @kaninerecords @bighasslemedia @knzdvs
Boonton, NJ-based shoegazers High. can trace their origins back to 2021 when Christian Castan (vocals, guitar) and Bridget Bakie (bass, vocals) met while playing across the Garden State’s DIY and college circuit. During that time, Bakie built and developed a reputation as “The Queen of The Quarter Note,” and Casten as an unforgettable guitarist. After the pair had a stint playing in another band…

Okay so I decided to generate a random zip code in the US and rate the transit in it, I got 07042 which is in Montclair, NJ.
Tumblr media
The zip code covers the southern half of Montclair and much of the historic center of the town. It is home to 3 stops on the Montclair-Boonton Line which connects the city to New York, Hoboken and Boonton. It additionally has several bus lines in the city and out to other parts of New Jersey
Tumblr media
There is decent density and walkability around the Bay and Walnut street stops but the Watchung Avenue stop is in a rather suburban area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall with 3 stops in a roughly 3k acres, it has rather good walkability and transit access, as well as an art museum, I would give Montclair a solid 7/10

The lost enclave of Cobb's Corner
Tumblr media
Cobb's Corner was once the center of Parsippany's business, social, political, and religious life, and its location at the intersection of two busy roads made it the frequent destination for stage coach travelers and those moving goods through northern New Jersey. These photos, taken around 1850, depict two hotels that once existed on the site as well as the nearby Cobb Mansion.
Tumblr media
Construction of the Boonton Reservoir and two interstate highways forever changed this quaint pastoral enclave, which is now a major thoroughfare traversed by 150,000 vehicles per day. Additional details about the history of Cobb's Corner, including its role as an iron manufacturer before the Revolutionary War can be found here.
