I discovered these paintings by James McNeill Whistler recently, Nocturne in Black and Gold: Falling Rocket (top) and Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Firewheel (bottom). I’m sharing them because they make me think of Nevermoor, as so many things do.
With paintings, a nocturne refers to the depiction of night. This is derived from the musical term, where a nocturne refers to a musical piece that is “inspired by, or evocative of, the night.” These both just come from the fact that “nocturne” essentially means “of the night”.
On a basic level, this just reminds me of Nevermoor by the aesthetics. The dreamy nighttime setting strikes me the most, but also the sparks of yellow fire that make me think of Wunder. Think of how many important scenes happen at night- Morrigan on Eventide, the Museum of Stolen Moments, and the Hollowpox in Courage Square. But the concept has me thinking, obviously, about the Wundrous Art of Nocturne. The only songs we know are Morrigan and Squall’s, who both chose nursery rhymes as their Nocture. Their choices make me think of lullabies, sung at night… and there’s lots to think about with that.

The new wiki (please do use it) is Here !
There is also an extension to help remove fandom wikis from search results which is linked Here! There is also another extension Here that links to other independent wikis.

humble request for people using their ao3 bookmarks as a reading list: godspeed in your reading quests, but please consider making those bookmarks private.
Ao3's bookmark search function is a really cool way to find new fics based off what other readers have said about them, but recently more and more of these have filled the search and made it pretty hard to wade through. :')

Anybody else know that feeling when you think about a fanfic you haven’t read in years and you want to read it again but you can’t remember the author or the title, all you know is the plot and that it was so damn good and you have no idea how to find it?

I've been spoiled as a knitter.
Started tatting again, and I went looking for some basic bookmark patterns to practice with. Figured that can't be too hard.
Why the fuck are so many patterns on YouTube instead of written!? I just want a pattern I can read, not a video to watch! Like, half the first page of results was videos! Which is worthless to me.
And then I had to redefine what basic was, because a chunk of them had split rings, and multi shuttle, and other terms I didn't know.
I just wanted a basic ring, picot, picot join, chain pattern. I was going to practice getting better before getting to more advanced stuff.
It was frustrating. I remember being frustrated like this when I first started knitting, but it was easier back then. Back then everyone and their cat had a blog, and they would write things there! Now it's all videos. Helpful for learning techniques, not for reading patterns.
At this rate in going to have to create a blog to help fight the death of knowledge online.
But after I make a bookmark.
