I was scared to read this book because of some of the negative reviews I saw on here, but after reading it I’m so happy I did. It’s by no means a “perfect” book but for a debut novel that’s to be expected (and is there ever really a “perfect” book? That’s subjective.) A lot of the things the other readers disliked about this book I actually found to be some of its best attributes. My favorite thing about it is that it’s lighthearted and doesn’t take itself too seriously. A lot of the scenes are so ridiculous and humorous it had me laughing out loud and talking to the book. It’s refreshing to see such a fun, unserious and cozy vampire book as a lot of the vampire books I know and love tend to be pretty serious with a lot going on and this is easier to follow.

There were a few cons I noticed, although minor things. I did feel some things were predictable just because the foreshadowing was a bit too obvious. The romance was slightly rushed but I did like how they formed a friendship using letters. Also the moment he got mad about Cassie wearing a bikini was a little uncomy, but I kinda understand why he reacted that way as a vampire who’d been in a coma for so long (things definitely were different back then.) There were also times where physical features and world building could have been more descriptive.

If you’re a serious reader who only likes to read immaculate books with no mistakes at all this is not the book for you. But if you want something funny, quick to read with a pretty interesting plot, give it a chance:) Overall I enjoyed this book and I’m excited to see what Jenna Levine writes in the future.

Book review for Gothikana by RUNYX

My overall rating for this book is 3/5⭐️

I can see why so many people love this book but I can also see why so many people despise it. The spice scenes were immaculate, the romance was pretty well done, but almost everything else fell a bit short for me. The writing style was flat at times, the vocabulary could have been better, but I did enjoy the scenery and descriptions of the castle. The ending was quite boring in my opinion, taking me days to finish 30 pages. Overall though, this was a fun and easy read, kept me interested for 99% of the book and brought me out of a reading slump.

Infinita TBR Vi confesso un segreto: avevo paura che quando avessi iniziato l'università, avrei avuto pochissimo tempo per leggere. E invece, forse ora leggo più di prima😂 indovinate perché? Perché leggo in treno, quindi faccio fruttare quel tempo quasi perso leggendo libri! Ho scoperto che mi piace farlo e mi sto già prefissando una tbr autunnale che cercherò di rispettare. Tra i tanti libri che ho intenzione di leggere abbiamo "La nona casa" e "Il regno corrotto" della fantastica @lbardugo entrambi editi @librimondadori, che in un qualche modo sento mi immergeranno in una piacevole atmosfera autunnale! Voglio poi leggere l'ultimo volume delle serie ACOTAR ovvero "La corte di ali e rovina" della Maas edito @librimondadori, così finalmente posso fangirlare e amare i Nessian fino alla fine. A questi tre fantasy aggiungo la graphic novel "Libia" che deve essere estremamente interessante, "Una stanza tutta per sè" di Virginia Woolf e "Storia di una ragazza ribelle" di Carmen Aguirre edito @nuovaeditriceberti!
