Seek the Lord and Live
4 The Lord says this to the family of Israel:
“Seek me so you can live! 5 Do not seek Bethel. Do not visit Gilgal. Do not journey down to Beer Sheba. For the people of Gilgal will certainly be carried into exile, and Bethel will become a place where disaster abounds.” — Amos 5:4-5 | New English Translation (NET Bible) NET Bible® copyright ©1996-2017 by Biblical Studies Press, L.L.C. I Love Israel: Israel confirms it will extend support to families of four Filipinos who died during attacks by Hamas
Welcome back readers, fellow people of faith and supporters of Israel. Last time around, I magnified a GMA Network news report about Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss confirming that Filipinos present in Israel are being taken care of as the Jewish State’s war with Palestinian terrorist group Hamas goes on. The latest news that Filipinos should pay attention to is the Israeli…

god it's almost the baby's fourth birthday and what with covid and the attic being on the living room floor I still haven't picked what books to give him. does anybody have book recommendations for four year olds. he likes construction sites and cars and city infrastructure and minecraft and elemental and tinker bell and birds and the solar system and the ocean and old macdonald and richard scarry and the sword in the stone and cheesy rice and filling his fort with every pillow and cushion in a five mile radius so that you can't see him any more and empathizing with mosquitoes. and one episode of the new adventures of winnie the pooh. the one where the movie usher says "lose your popcorn, kid?"

I've been watching the Expanse for the first time over the last couple of weeks. Just finished episode three of season six and holy shit, it's so good. Easily one of the best sci-fi series ever produced. I'm just disappointed they didn't do the last three books and truncated the sixth season. One of this show's strengths was its pacing and how it was able to tell a compelling story while also doing incredibly deep and brilliant worldbuilding.
The Belter society is amazing, especially the Belter Creole they speak. Which was invented and fleshed out specifically for this show. I love how it parallels the poor and working class here in our world and the exploitation they face. It's brilliant how they give us so many different versions of what their fight for recognition and independence looks like, each with its own unique benefits and flaws.
I think Camina Drummer is my favorite character. I love her strength and fierce loyalty. Her and Naomi definitely dated while she was on the Behemoth. Amos is another fave. I get really strong autistic vibes from him, but a lot of it could also be how he deals with the immense trauma from his childhood. Which is also one of the most interesting and heartbreaking backstories in the show.
There's so much more I could get into to that makes it so great. Like everything that is Chrisjen Avasarala. Or Bobbie's escape on Earth and how it showed Earth wasn't all rich people day drinking. Or the freaking protomolecule! But I think I've rambled enough. lol

Just a few of the many graphic novel projects I've been privileged to work on with a wide variety of creators and publishers.
Please ask for them at your local comic shop or bookstore!
From Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN, to Stan Lee's autobiography, to Warren Ellis's ORBITER, and even THE VAMPIRE DIARIES with over 300 pages of art and story, your comic shop or local bookstore can order graphic novels which feature works by me to read or share.
My own epic space opera A DISTANT SOIL, the graphic novel GONE TO AMERIKAY based on a song by the Pogues, works adapted from songs by Tori Amos and The Doors, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, LUCIFER and many others.
Support your local bookstore this holiday season! Thank you!

The machine shop was the last place in the ship, with the possible exception of engineering, that Avasarala would have thought about playing with a little girl, but there she was, arms and legs flailing through the air. Her shoulder-length black hair flowed around her in a whirl, following the gentle end-over-end spin of her body. Her face was bright with pleasure. Bobbie and Amos stood at opposite ends of the shop. As Avasarala watched, Bobbie caught the little girl out of the air and launched her back toward Amos. Soon, Avasarala thought, the girl would start losing her milk teeth. She wondered how much of all this Mei would remember when she was an adult. "Are you people crazy?" Avasarala said as Amos caught the girl. "This isn't a playground." "Hey there," Amos said, "we weren't planning on staying long. The captain and the doc needed a minute, so I figured I'd haul the kiddo down here. Give her the tour." "When they send you to play catch with a child, they don't mean that she's the f—that she's the ball," Avasarala said, moving across to him. "Give that child to me. None of you people has any idea how to take care of a little girl. It's amazing you all lived to adulthood." "Ain't wrong about that," Amos said amiably, holding out the kid.
