Setting aside his food, Twilight slowly knelt on the floor, ignoring the pain of his injuries, and wrapped his arms around the large dog. Bond held still as his master buried his face in his fur, his heartbeat strong and steady in contrast with the sudden trembling that had overtaken the man’s form.

I do really like the way the new chapter kind of showcases that Loid is really starting to settle into this whole parenting gig.

Like first 20 chapters Loid would have immediately gone into an anxiety induced fit about being a horrible fake father and how he's failing the mission and Anya, if Anya pulled the same crying fit trick on him (like she's done with success before) or he'd at least start to doubt his choices a little. But he just acts like a regular dad does and tells her to shut up, he doesn't give a fuck and she's staying her ass at home. And she would have too if Yor didn't convince him and if that isn't the most family shit ever I don't know what is

That's the growth we needed. Nature is healing.

Also he would have never out loud called her a brat before especially where Yor or someone else could hear and doubt their "father daughterly ness" but now he's yelling at her like a true father. Because yeah she really don't be listening but we love her for it.

I don't know I've always just felt like he's his truest self when it's just him and Anya. mostly because when he's not hyper focused on appearing like the greatest dad, Anya is just so ridiculous and left field that its hard to have anything less than a genuine reaction to her and the things she says. Also in regards to this operation stryx, she's the person he has the least to hide from, they both know he's not her dad and she's not his kid and that his marriage to Yor is fake. There's nobody to play pretend for, and that allows him to be just a little more real in their interactions because she's real with him.

Like I know he's a spy so we never really know his truest personality cause he's always putting on a mask, even with bond he puts on the mask of trainer no matter how badly he's not deceiving anyone, but honestly it doesn't feel like there's a mask with her. He's not Loid or Twilight with her but some secret third thing. Just a man with no real name but who is no less real and the strange kid he's trying to do right by no matter how many stress lines she cause him

I just finished reading chapter 58 (Bond & Loid and the burning building) and it made me realize just how wholesome Loid and Bond are!! I love their dynamic 🥺

Loid going into the burning building for Bond, saying training comes second, telling him he's a part of the family, mentioning going to the park with the family ARGH I love them!!!

I feel like a lot of people are sort of keeping an eye on Loid when it comes to developing attachments to Anya and Yor, but he totally cares about Bond too 😭

The typical "it's just for the mission so the Forger family has no problems" comes out at the end of the chapter when Bond shows ✨affection✨ please this man is trying to convince himself!! It's very "Dad becoming very attached to the pet he very explicitly expressed he did not want" type beat. and I love it RAH

I also think it's cute how a lot of his attachment / care for Bond is because Anya loves him so much ... And he knows how much she cares and therefore he cares, too, because THAT'S HIS DAUGHTER AND HE VALUES THINGS THAT SHE VALUES 🗣️🗣️🗣️ (a lot of this is still for the mission i'm sure but I'd like to believe at least part of it is bc he cares about Anya fr hhnbbgaRAH)

Another thing I love is that Bond is really the only one Twilight can openly talk to about really anything spy-related outside the agency and seeing him talk openly about Operation Strix to Bond like that at the end of the chapter (and him literally having a full on one-sided conversation with Bond and taking him on a mission because Bond obviously "wanted revenge on the scientists") makes me think Twilight might absolutely vent about spy things to this intelligent dog constantly simply because he can. which I think is hilarious. Absolutely allergic to having an honest conversation with anyone but will YAP to his dog (that he didn't even want . classic father move).

Hidden Treasure in the Sofa || SxF Drabble

I wrote this a while ago as a prompt by @somebodylost-chan. Enjoy and thank you Lost for the prompt!

“THE FLOOR IS LAVA!” 

Twilight swore under his breath, clutching his ears as he walked in the front door of the Forger apartment. He and Yor had both worked late that night and Franky had been hired as a babysitter for Anya and Bond. Fortunately, the request wasn’t at the last minute and, while the crafty informant denied it every time, the spy knew that the man always had fun with the little girl and the fluffy hound. 

The apartment filled with giggles and worfs as the blonde took off his trench coat and hat. The mission hadn’t been too terribly bothersome this time, a simple item grab. It had gone well at the beginning but a shootout had broken out within the faction he was… procuring the item from. He had been too close when several larger caliber weapons had gone off in an enclosed space and his ears were still ringing from it.

Obviously, Franky didn’t know that when he screamed the challenge to Anya and Bond, nor did his adopted child and dog know. 

That didn’t change the pain that came with the noise. 

Stripping off his black gloves, he made his way into the living space, trying to arrange his expression into the tired but warm smile of Loid Forger. 

“Loidman!” Franky called, not as loud as before, but still at a louder than “indoor voice” volume. “You have returned!” 

“Yes,” he gave the trio a look, not quite disapproving of the dog being on and his daughter jumping on the couch cushions, but definitely long-suffering enough to be considered that. “Did you have fun?”

“Chichi!” Anya called, her voice much softer than her “Uncle Scruffy”, and dropped down from the couch. Once her little socked feet landed on the wood floor, she sprinted to his side and wrapped her arms around his leg. “Welcome home! Look what Anya and Scruffy found!”

Bracing himself for some random object, Twilight leaned down and pried her arms off of him so he could kneel before her. “What did you find, Anya?” he asked, tired but curious.

His daughter’s green eyes sparkled as she held out her open fist and slowly opened her fingers. The glint of metal drew his attention first and the spy gave a double take. 

In the center of the little girl’s hand was a bracelet. A very familiar one. A simple gold chain that Yor had worn on the day of the Eden Interview and had broken on the day of the results. He had wanted to get it repaired, but she had misplaced it when they had returned to wait for the call saying she had been accepted and had refused to accept a replacement.

And here it was! Still broken, but Twilight could see that none of the links were missing.

A truer smile pulled at his lip and he reached out to pat Anya’s head. “That is certainly some wonderful treasure, Anya. I’m sure your mother will be very happy to see this bracelet again.” 

Anya smiled brightly. “Yeah!”

After the previous long arc and then a month break for Endo to work on volume 14, it's so nice to finally have a chill Forger-focused chapter! I missed my fake family so much 😭

Hilarious Anya and Loid antics right from the get go - I missed that too!

JUST LOOK AT BOND INSTEAD 🤣 This guy...

He also calls her "baka" ("idiot," "dummy") in this panel in the Japanese version 😅

But despite her little kiddy tantrums and demands, I love that Anya still does what's best for Loid by giving up on a TV appearance.

The below scene between Loid and Yor is yet another example of how well they complement each other; how Loid is so intent on his mission that he can't accept any moments of being idle or "goofing off," but Yor is there to remind him that such things are okay...that you don't have to be constantly looking for trouble and it's good to be at peace every now and then.

That thought continues during their conversation at the riverbank. No matter how much he tries to put on a stoic spy face, Yor can tell that he's constantly on edge and needs to relax sometimes, for his own good.

Her comment that he constantly has wrinkles on his brow and needs to be careful about that - that is such married couple talk, just get REAL married already!

Then we have Becky being enamored with Loid again (and calling Yor her "master" 😂) At least she kept herself much more under control. Good girl.

As usual, despite this being a cute/funny chapter, Endo slips in some darker forboding...in this case, another hint about Project Apple still being an active threat.

Between this and the short mission about Anya's name, I wonder if Project Apple is indeed connected with whatever lab Anya came from, and if Endo is planning something really big from all this gradual build up about it. Looking forward to it, whatever it is!

And I know some people must be wondering why we didn't continue the "Anya tells Damian her secret" bombshell from way back, but I saw that chapter as ending with Damian not believing her and Anya not pressing on it further, at least for the time being. But it will definitely get brought up again.

EDIT: Thanks to @xxscarletxrosexx and @mika213 for pointing this out! There's a mistranslation in this scene: the English version has Yor telling Loid to be careful about wrinkles, but in the Japanese version, that speech bubble belongs to Loid, who's confirming he will be careful about it (hence the blush mark and sweat drop).

Bonus: It was just confirmed that Henderson will be on the cover of volume 14, which releases on September 4th!
