CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE
Here in the West we Christians get ourselves hot and bothered about such matters of concern as whether we should attend same-sex weddings, women in leadership positions or the type of worship music we use. Elsewhere in the world church life is dominated by different concerns. In Nigeria, a member of the Commonwealth and the country with the largest mixed Christian/Muslim population in the world,…

In the wake of what's going on in the world, I see a lot of rhetoric that basically boils down to the idea that everyone has a responsibility to watch every bad thing that's going on in the world all the time. That awareness itself is a responsibility that everyone has always.
I'm not going to say that people do or don't have a responsibility to be aware of things, but I want to talk about how to take care of yourself and others while doing so.
For some context, I spent close to a year and a half reading about every terrorist attack in the world as part of my work on the Global Terrorism Database. It was 2015/2016, so this was the height of ISIS/Daesh, it was a major time for Boko Haram, and it was when there was a lot of political violence that we weren't sure how to classify in places like Yemen, Crimea, and Libya (stuff the GTD didn't know how to classify had all of is information recorded, and then it went into purgatory until someone above my paygrade decided what to do with it). What this means is that I was spending 10-20 hours a week reading about hundreds or thousands of attacks a month and, in my case, recording infomation about the type of attack and the type of weapon. Much of my life was reading terrible things.
Limit what you do in isolation. One of the worst changes for me during that time, mental health-wise (even though it was great for my commute) was when I went from working in-person to working remotely. With other people, there are ways to diffuse the pain. A burden shared is a burden halved and all that. That may mean talking about it, or joking about it, or finding some other way to engage with it that isn't just reading about the most horrible things in the world and then stewing in your own thoughts about them.
Find something to do that's totally unrelated. I highly recommend finding something to do with your hands, if you can (knitting, Lego, cooking, whatever), but regardless of what it is, you should have some time when you entirely switch away to something different. During a fair amount of my time with the GTD, I was also doing my undergrad thesis about terrorism on TV, so a huge amount of my life was about terrorism in some way. The only other thing I watched was Great British Bake Off, and I would just rewatch the episodes, over and over.
Be compassionate about how you share information and with whom. Use trigger warnings, and consider using consistent tagging on places like Tumblr so people can blacklist it if they need to. Also consider whether it's appropriate or necessary to share photos of bodies or other results of horrible violence. What is it accomplishing, to show that? Can that goal be accomplished other ways that don't require the equivalent of jumpscares of unexpected photos of dead or brutalized people? Are you just showing it because you think that everyone should have to see it? If you are showing it, are there ways to mitigate against harm it may do?
Do what you can to avoid an echo chamber. Sometimes, when everyone around you is upset or angry about the same thing, it just amplifies itself, and you all get angrier and more upset in perpetuity without accomplishing anything.
Work towards action. Watching terrible things happen for the sake of saying that you haven't looked away isn't as meaningful as taking action in some way. Write to your Congressperson. Donate. Do whatever is appropriate for the thing you want to stop. But penance via watching terrible things happen doesn't accomplish anything.
Recognize compassion fatigue and do what you can to mitigate it. If you spend long enough doing this, you start to lose context, and you start to become less able to have compassion about things. If you're reading about attacks with dozens or hundreds of deaths regularly, five can start to not seem like that many. If you're reading only about the worst suffering in the world, "lesser" suffering of those around you can start to seem unimportant and petty. Do what you can to mitigate that.
Be kind to yourself. You do nobody any good if you burn out. Look away, if you need to. Take a break. Do things so you can enjoy life, because otherwise you are just another person suffering in the world. Other people's pain isn't a hair shirt for you to wear.

I just think it’s wack that you only care about Israeli civilians. Yes their lives mattered. But instead of focusing on the real reason why they died, ie, the tremendously irresponsible government of Israel and their bloodthirsty colonialist mission, you focus on “”””antisemitism””””” where there really is none. I’m sure there’s like two (2) antisemitic pro Palestinians. The vast majority of us are normal people who want peace and freedom, and for Israel to stop killing people. And for Israeli innocents to stop dying too. Some of us are even Jews who finally woke up. Sincerely, a Jew who’s tired of colonisation being done in our name
So, I wasn't going to reply to this bc. LOL. Don't feed the troll.
But I'm currently hearing explosions in the background so I was like. Oh well.
Tumblr media
Let's unpack it.
I just think it’s wack that you only care about Israeli civilians.
I mean. Y'know. אם אין אני לי מי לי? (Clearly not you).
Wow. I'm shocked. How dare I, an Israeli civilian with friends and family who happens to also be, by coincidence, Israeli civilians, dare care about such vile creatures? (Looking outside of the window) (Remember that I can't, bc it's blocked to prevent shattering by airwaves and sharpanels). Must be a day that ends with a y!
Yes their lives mattered.
I feel like there's a "but" coming.
But instead of focusing on the real reason why they died,
Are we still talking Israeli citisens? BC the current causes of death are missiles, gunshots and stabbing.
ie, the tremendously irresponsible government of Israel and their bloodthirsty colonialist mission,
Funny, you keep using that word. I don't think you know what that means.
Also, having strong opinion about a remote teritory which you aren't a citizen of? Tell me more about colonialism.
you focus on “”””antisemitism””””” where there really is none.
laughing out so hard I actually cry. Like, seriously?
Maybe you, personally, haven't met antisemism (or more likely, were unable to detact it). THAT WAS NOT THE CASE FOR THE VICE MAJORITY OF JEWS.
From vandalism and verbal harassment to physical harassment, beatdowns, and at least on one case - death.
[Funny enough, this article says "Alnaji’s and Kessler’s lives forever changed on Nov. 5 at a pro-Palestinian rally at Westlake and Thousand Oaks boulevards in Thousand Oaks." Well yes. Kessler's life ENDED. His poor killer may face prison. Poor man.
This is antisemic.]
Sorry, but if your "peace and freedom" refers to the myth of "The Happy Dhimi", you have a problem.
Some examples, though:
This is the official logo of the Houthis, the terror group pro-pals love so much. the "Curse upon the jews" REALLY gives some vibes of love and caring.
Tumblr media
As someone who lived through the latest Intifada, this REALLY makes me feel safe out there:
Tumblr media
So, the terror Organistion currently firing at me isn't a terrorist? do tell me more
Tumblr media
And of course, the "resistence". Wow I wonder what happened on October 7th?
Tumblr media
more (explained) #1, more #2, more #3, honestly just go to #antisemitism here.
And, last but not least:
Tumblr media
INDIGENOUS PEOPLE CANNOT BE COLONIALS IN THEIR ANCESTORS' LAND.
WE HAVE 3,000 YEARS OF HISTORY HERE.
But, well, I guess you're from america. Strange how you don't care about colonialism when it's actually. Y'know. BY-THE-BOOK.

6/7/2024 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) — Images of members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) executing three Christian men in Borno state, Nigeria, are circulating on social media.
One image, allegedly shared on June 4 by the Islamic State group (ISIS) through its propaganda outlet, Amaq News Agency, shows the Christian men kneeling with their arms tied behind their backs before three masked gunmen. Another image shows the bodies of the believers falling to the ground under a cloud of smoke from the Islamic extremists’ machine guns.
The Islamic extremists reportedly abducted the men from a vehicle traveling along a highway that runs through the northern Nigerian state on June 3. Muslim passengers were allowed to leave. The terrorists reportedly abducted a fourth passenger, but their condition is unknown at this time.
The Rev. Ibrahim Abako, secretary of the Yobe State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, confirmed the deaths in an interview with Leadership Media Group, a Nigerian news outlet.
“On behalf of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Yobe State chapter, we condemn in totality the killing of three Christian youth along Damaturu-Biu Road Federal Highway,” the Rev. said.
In January, ISWAP, which formed in 2016 from defectors of Boko Haram, conducted eight attacks against Christian communities in several villages in Nigeria. During the attacks, 12 Christians were killed while other Christians were forced to flee from their homes that ISWAP militants burned down. These attacks are part of ISIS’ call in January for its affiliates to “kill (Christians) where you find them.”

Why is Leftblr plagued by political Karens ?
And no, I can't think of any other way to refer to so, so, so many of you who gleefully cheer for Hamas, deny or justify their crimes, apply a double standard against Israel (always in favour of the terrorist organisation, always), and so on and so forth.
Make no mistake, what Israel is doing in Gaza is horrible (though I would argue there's little alternative considering Hamas' goals and behaviour so far), and it's getting especially awful and violent in the West Bank, with too little oversight and far too much political complicity from the current Israeli government.
But what I'm talking about, in your behaviour, is in direct relation to the 7/10 attack, not what's happening in the West Bank.
You don't look at their ideology. Do you know what the ideology of Hamas is ? It's the same as Al Qaeda, the same as ISIS, the same as Boko Haram. It's violent, totalitarian islamism. It is intolerant and hateful, it wants to kill all who do not fit its mold. They openly - OPENLY - said they wanted to take over the world, and that once they were done with the Jews (the Jews, not the Israeli, the JEWS) it would be the Christians' turns. Does that sound like someone you want to cheer on ? Does that sound tolerant and acceptant ?
For me, as a French, all Hamas is, is another form of the monsters that killed hundreds in the Bataclan. That sent a truck through the crowd in Nice on the Promenade des Anglais. That murdered and took hostages in the Hyper Kasher.
It's the same cruelty and hate, the same interpretation of Islam that pushed Mohammed Merah to murder children in school in 2012. Because those kids were Jewish.
And all I can think, when I watch how you react ... how you cheer on Hamas ... is that it isn't the acts that bother you. It's whether it has the right stickers, the right buzzwords associated to it.
You're like a Karen, ranting and throwing a tantrum, because the mangos don't have the little organic sticker.
It's not an organix, marx-fed terror attack, so you don't like it. But the one in Israel, oh this one, it has the sticker, you're sure of it. You put it there yourself, because it is much, much more socially acceptable, in your little social circle of murderous, bloodthirsty political Karens to stamp your little Revolution-certified sticker on that particular terror attack.
But it's the same ideology, Karen. The mangos are identical. The murders are the same. The only real difference is the numbers.
And you can go "But IDF in Gaza D:" all you want. All I hear, is that you're willing to support ISIS, Al Qaeda and Boko Haram, so long as they put the right stickers on their murders.
You don't need to cheer for the monsters. You don't need to cheer for ISIS under a different flag.
You can criticize Israel without being antisemitic, as you keep saying. Maybe you should start doing that.

Gintama and Colonialism
While rereading the Gintama series for the nth time, I realized something so unexpected..... I completely relate to the situation in Edo, specifically with the amanto being basically colonizers, and as a person living in a country that was colonized up until only 64 years ago I decided to share my thoughts.
I wanted to examine the implications of colonialism on everyday people using the joui 4(Gintoki,Takasugi, Katsura and Sakamoto), as well as my country Nigeria as a case study.
I noticed that the actions of these four characters as well as the way they dress portray a view of their acceptance of the "modernity" that amanto colonialism has brought to Edo and discuss it.
I realized that the four members of the joui4 seem to be on a spectrum of acceptance. I'll be taking each character one by one and explain more from one end of the spectrum to another.
Takasugi: He is one the farthest end on the spectrum. An extremist who completely rejects modernity that the amantos bring with them and seeks to destroy it at the expense of everyday people. A terrorist through and through. My mind immediately thought of the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram when I saw him and learned of his ideals. They are an extremist group that reject western ideals, especially on education and seek to destroy it, at the expense of the innocent majority. They bombed places and kidnapped people, all to make a point. Takasugis complete rejection of modernity is shown even in the way he dresses;in traditional kimonos and sandals.
Katsura: Katsura is a strange case, because while he disproves of amanto control, he completely benefits from the technology. Using bombs, watching TV dramas, getting a driver's license, piloting a Gundam, being close friends with an amanto and even becoming president Zuramp. He's quite hypocritical in his protests. In my opinion, he's like those old people or so called 'old souls' who hate what the country has become due to colonialism then go home in their cars and watch western movies all day. Clothing wise, unlike Takasugi, he alternates between traditional kimonos and modern clothes like the space captain outfit and the president Zuramp suit.
Gintoki: Our main character finds himself right in the middle of the spectrum with him embracing both tradition and modernity. He respects tradition, while embracing the new technologies. I feel that Gintoki represents the majority of people in the country, who speak both English and their native languages, who eat burgers, fries and pizza when they go out but eat fufu and soup at home, who make ties and western style dresses out of adire and other local fabrics and so on. The way he dresses showcases this perfectly, with his shirt and trousers being distinctly western while his traditional style kimono is on top. He also goes through a bunch of outfits, both western and traditional.
Sakamoto: He is on the complete other end of the spectrum. He is someone who has fully embraces westernization at the unfortunate expense of his traditional values. These are the people that leave the country and JAPA, completely forgetting their home country and culture. These people most likely will not teach their children of their culture. Most people like this usually see all things western as good and African things as bad. He dresses in western clothes and is the only one in the joui4 to use a gun as his main weapon.
The idea for this essay come to me as a shower thought and I needed to share it with others because I cannot be the only one who made the connection. Apart from peoples reaction to colonialism, the ways in which the amanto rule over edo-through the Bafuku is just indirect ruling system which was used mainly in countries like Nigeria( indirect rule is when a colonial government rules a country through it's traditional leaders in order to quickly Garner support from the people).
What do you think? Please feel free to share your own opinions on the matter. I have seen so many similarities in the politics of Gintama and the colonial systems of a lot of African countries.

It increasingly feels like Hamas was created as a proxy against Israel, at least in part with active support of some in the international community. The extent of the Hamas tunnels and terrorist infrastructure in Gaza is so massive that there's no way this could have happened without active support of very powerful agendas globally.
For instance, Hamas sought to use almost every hospital in Gaza as a kind of strategic fortress, to operate near and around. If other militaries have bastions and redoubts and bases, for Hamas each hospital was a bastion.
Hamas also sought to exploit almost every school and international facility, for its terrorist uses, often tunneling under them or storing weapons in them. This happened not in war time, but rather over the last ten years when Israel wasn't operating in Gaza. What that means is that most of the terror infrastructure built in Gaza was built as internationals looked on. We hear their stories of "we didn't see it" or "we didn't know what was underneath our facility."
But none of this can be believed. The huge mountain of weapons found everywhere, the huge number of tunnels underneath every civilian area, under schools and universities, hospitals and UNRWA facilities, is so large and systematic that one can only conclude this organization was a proxy.
It's obvious to me that when peace was on the agenda that many groups in the world who wanted to find an organization to wage genocidal war against israel, sought to turn Gaza into a Hamas enclave to use it as a stepping stone for genocide. Their goal was to put this group on steroids and advise it how to turn Gaza into the most armed site in the world per capita. What that means is that it wasn't just "Sinwar" who was released in 2011 who did this...this was done with active support and collaboration of countries...of international organizations that advised Hamas on the laws of war and likely told them to put all their terror sites under schools, hospitals and int'l facilities...because this was how they could then charge Israel with "war crimes" for targeting these facilities.
For a lot of these organizations the war in 1948 never ended, they were displeased with the defeat in 1948 and their attempt to destroy Israel that year and they set about trying to use others to destroy Israel, first working with Egypt and Syria and then with Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
The amount of money and power that went into the Hamas infrastructure is the kind of thing that is used to build countries and cities, not terror groups. That means that Al Shabab or Boko Haram never had these kinds of resources. Hamas resources to build such extensive tunnels cost more than the budget of countries...which means countries are likely involved.
It's also why we see this huge lobby now to prevent Israel's operation in Rafah which is the last Hamas stronghold. It's also why more IDPs in Gaza were funneled toward Rafah by the groups that have worked with Hamas for years...this is their last massive human shield, 1.4 million people crowded into one area to protect the Hamas leadership and its 136 hostages.
I'm not saying the whole world is somehow invested in keeping Hamas in Gaza, but a portion of the world is invested in this agenda. Hamas is their proxy. The proxy to fight Israel. Part of the reason Israel is not at peace is because of this.
The addiction to Hamas is also clear from the fact that the organization itself and its leaders like Sinwar-Haniyeh etc are not that interesting unto themselves. It's clear that a lot more expertise and thought went into the Hamas empire of terror than just Sinwar and Haniyeh.
