A Submarine Pirate (1915) / Willful Ambrose (1915) / Bombs! (1916) / The Feathered Nest (1916) / Her Torpedoed Love (1917) / Hearts and Flowers (1919) / Down on the Farm (1920)
From her Keystone debut in 1915 to her last First National comedy in 1922, Fazenda was one of Sennett's top comedy stars—appearing in nearly 60 Sennett shorts and features during that time.
Fazenda became familiar audiences as the hayseed girl who was forever falling prey to the shifty city slicker or evil mortgage holder, with her spit curl, ribbon-tied pigtails and calico dress. Just as often, she was the hard-working blue-collar girl who would leave her dreary job as a waitress or maid to collect a healthy inheritance—pursued by the usual assortment of Sennett fortune hunters. With hazel eyes and light brown hair, Fazenda could just as easily put on a blonde wig and play attractive, vampish roles.
Born in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of a Mexican-born grocer and American-born mother, Fazenda's family moved to LA by 1900—where she attended Los Angeles High School and St. Mary's Convent. She debuted in dramatic stock with Miss Del Valle in LA and later appeared with Virginia Brissac. Louise got her start in films at Universal in 1912 under the direction of Wilfred Lucas, but by 1913 was appearing alongside Max Asher, Harry McCoy, Bobby Vernon, Gale Henry, Lee Morris, Billy Franey, Heinie Conklin and the other featured players in Universal's Joker Comedies.
When her Sennett contract ended in Sep 1920, Fazenda joined Special Pictures Corp. briefly in late 1920; then she appeared in a trio of California Producers Corp.'s Punch Comedies (1921) co-starring Chester Conklin and John Henry Jr. That came before a brief return to Sennett for a couple of appearances during 1921-22. Fazenda starred in some of Jack White's Mermaid Comedies (1923-24) before settling into roles in features. With the coming of sound, Louise returned to shorts for Christie (1929) and Darmour (1930). She continued with feature support in films. Fazenda found a second home at Warner Brothers, becoming a familiar character face in musicals.
On March 7, 1919, Fazenda married Sennett director Noel M. Smith, to whom she'd been engaged since 1917; they separated on August 14, 1923, and divorced on August 1, 1926. On November 24, 1927 she married Warner Bros. publicity director Hal B. Wallis, soon to became Warners' studio manager and then a long-time film producer. Fazenda retired from the screen in 1939, and remained married to Wallis until her death at 66 in Beverly Hills of a cerebral hemorrhage, leaving Wallis and son Brent. She is interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California.

[ad_1] Getty Images Randall Cobb will be entering the regular season a bit lighter in the wallet. The Jets wide receiver was fined $13,889 for unnecessary roughness on an illegal blindside block on safety Bobby McCain during the team's preseason finale against the Giants, according to ESPN. The block sent McCain into concussion protocol and helped spark a jawing match between Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward. The infraction occurred during the Jets' first offensive possession of the game. Rodgers completed a pass to tight end Tyler Conklin that went for 14 yards, largely thanks to Cobb barreling in with the illegal block on McCain. The officials saw it, threw out the yellow flag, and called the Jets for the 15-yard penalty. You can see Cobb's hit in the video below. That hit triggered some pushing and shoving back and forth between Rodgers and Ward. Ward said that seeing Jets players laughing in the huddle following that hit is what sent him and the rest of the Giants sideline over the edge. "Everybody going to get pissed off at that. The whole team was pissed off, you know what I'm saying?" Ward said. "It's preseason and all that stuff and you're going to do some reaction like that? It's cool, though. That's how they roll. I think we play them soon, it is what it is."HBO's Hard Knocks highlighted the hit in question and, judging by the video, it did appear that Jets players were laughing, but not necessarily because McCain got hurt. Instead, it was centered around the 33-year-old Cobb making the hit. The Jets face the Giants in Week 8 at MetLife Stadium, so it will be interesting to see if there will still be some lingering bad blood between these two hometown rivals by the time that game kicks off. A small blip/preview of an in-the-works sequel to Holding Onto You (tagging @stunudo because you seem to like that fic and Kasey and stuff and that makes me happy):
"You cannot keep goin on like this! You are a witch, grand-niece of Agatha Conklin, and descendant of centuries of magical study. Own up to your craft, girl!"
"And do what, Rowena!? Do you know how many people died because my magic wasn't good enough!? How many times I let down Sam and Dean?," Kasey half-shouted back, "I can't bare those looks of pain and heartbreak on their faces when someone else we love dies, the same look from when Bobby died!"
Rowena slammed her fists on the table in frustration, "Bloody hell you cannae carry on with your head buried in the sand like a frightened hen! You have raw, natural talent but you've been too scared to properly tap into it! You have so much potential in you! Do you really think yer auntie would want to see you posturing about like this?"
Kasey leaned forward, her face inches away from the shorter, redhaired witch, " Unlike you, Rowena, I actually have to maintain relationships with the hunting community. You can prance around and do as you please without repercussions, but I can't. Do you really think Jethro and his band of bastards were the first hunters after me? Ha!," She laughed cynically, eyes shining with emotion, "John Winchester himself shoved a gun in my face when I was 16 years old. I am a freak, an abomination. That is the whole reason I started supressing myself... To most hunters we are just another monster to hunt, no matter what lives we save and what good we do. Nothing else matters."
Rowena stared at her a moment, a mixture of sadness and disbelief evident on her face. When the older witch finally spoke again, her voice was soft and full of concern, "Surely... Surely you cannae truly believe that your Samuel feels that way about you as well? Surely you have faith that there is a future for you... Together?"
Kasey swallowed hard and remained silent. Unshed tears shone in her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away and turned away from the table. It was all the answer Rowena needed, and, deep down, she pitied the younger witch understanding full well that feeling of isolation. However, while the infamous Rowena MacCleod thrived in the face of opposition to her craft, Kasey crumpled before it.

Class of 1965 Reunion Update
From the '65 Committee:
Over these many years, it has been our honor to serve as your Crawford High School Reunion Committee for the Crawford - Class of '65. We began last spring (2019) to plan for our 55th High School Reunion, allowing us plenty of time to get everything coordinated. Things were going smoothly and plans were well underway. Then Covid-19 arrived, changing everyone's way of life.
As your Committee, we considered the impact of this virus and what it meant to all of us regarding our age and health issues that many of us have. After much deliberation we voted as a committee that it would be best to cancel our 55th Reunion this year. With all the restrictions that are in place, and many of the states ceasing their reopening because of the resurgence of this virus, having a reunion would not be possible at this time.
As part of our reunion cancellation, we have settled with Reunion Specialists and are no longer affiliated with that company. We would ask that you please CONTACT US with any questions or concerns you might have. And, more importantly, we would ask you to CONTACT US with any email and address changes and Information regarding classmates who have passed away. We need to keep this information updated for our class list. Also, Reunion Specialists has assured us that all ticket holders will receive a full refund and they should be receiving these funds, if they haven't received them already.
With all this in place, we voted as a Committee and agreed that, as soon as it is safe for all of us to gather in large groups, we will begin planning a reunion in place of our 55th Hight School Reunion.
We are truly sorry for having to cancel our 55th Reunion and trust that you will understand what a difficult decision this was for our Committee. Please know that we will be ready and willing to work on our next Reunion as soon as Covid-19 is under control.
To notify us of any changes in your contact information and deceased classmates, please contact Yoli (Leon) Banda on our Crawford Class of 65 facebook page or her email address: [email protected] or Geri (McGurn) Tyler-Brown at 928/550-9538 or [email protected].
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing everyone in the future.

Eckert: OL Stat Study 2.0 Using PFF Run/Pass Blocking, SIS Total Points Earned Metrics 2016-2020
Today I am continuing my “Offensive Line Study Series”, here is a link to the first study that I would recommend for full context of this study: OL Study 1.0 I wanted to dive deeper and get a broader view than a single season. I also wanted to answer this question: How did the players grade according to stats from Pro Football Focus (PFF) and Sports Info Solutions (SIS) in the last five years? Here are the definitions for the datapoints used in this study: - PFF Run Block Grade (RBLK) = PFF Grade for Run Blocking - PFF Pass Block Grade (PBLK) = PFF Grade for Pass Blocking - SIS Total Points Earned (TPE) = The total of a player’s EPA responsibility using the Total Points system Some important things before the graph, the players in this study are the leaders in single season TPE with the highest snap counts (for durability), then layering in the PFF grades and TPE from 2016-2020. I also focused on more recent players that have played since 2018, then how those players did over the five-year sample size with the above datapoints. With that in mind, here’s what 2016-2020 looked like:
Great! I really enjoyed layering in the TPE as the dot sizes to see how their team value datapoint compared to the PFF Grades. Any players with larger dots in the bottom left were favored by the TPE stat, and any smaller dots elsewhere were favored by PFF grades. I also marked the Steelers players so we could see how Alejandro, Maurkice, and Ramon compared to the league. This again highlights how durable Villanueva has been, along with the new era at a position we’ve been blessed to see great stability in personnel for several years. All being below the mean in run blocking leads me to an interesting question: Are you optimistic the Steelers line will improve in run blocking this season? If so, which players could be above average league wide? Now let’s look at this angle, who were the best TPE players from the graph according to SIS, with PFF Grades, and Study 1.0 Ranks: Total Points Earned Rk RBLK Rk PBLK Rk Study 1.0 Rk 1. Joe Thuney 29 22 2. Andrew Whitworth 18 2 3. Jake Matthews 42 10 22 4. Zack Martin 2 9 5. David Bakhtiari 20 1 6. Alejandro Villanueva 37 16 23 7. Rob Havenstein 14 48 3 8. Shaq Mason 3 36 9. We know this all to well regarding having an offensive line as one of the strengths of the team to being one of the biggest concerns in this sample size. Hopefully this will apply to the 2021 o-line, staying healthy (knocks on wood) so they can build chemistry and hopefully be successful. Now I would like to take all the information from this study to get a more complete ranking for this study: Study 2.0 Ranks POS TEAM 1. Zack Martin RG DAL 2. Andrew Whitworth LT LAR 3. Following the lackluster launch of her debut novel, 35-year-old writer Kate Conklin (Gillian Jacobs) receives an invitation from her former professor and old crush (Jemaine Clement) to speak at her alma mater. With her book tour canceled and her ego deflated, Kate decides to take the trip, wondering if returning to her old college as a published author might give her the morale boost she sorely needs. Instead, she falls into a comical regression – from misadventures with eccentric twenty-year-olds to feelings of jealousy toward her former professor’s new favorite student. Striking the balance between bittersweet and hilarious, Kate takes a journey through her past to redefine her future.
Made In Italy
Made In Italy, the new movie from James D’Arcy, is out today.
Made In Italy is a heart-warming father son story set in glorious Tuscany about bohemian London artist Robert (Neeson), who returns to Italy with his estranged son Jack (Richardson) to make a quick sale of the house they inherited from his late wife. CANTLON: UCONN BIG WEEKEND IN MAINE
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The most pivotal weekend of the Hockey East season will be in Orono, Maine for the UCONN Huskies as they try to elbow their way into a solid playoff position with three weeks left. The Huskies will battle on the road to battle the third place and the 17th ranked nationally Maine Black Bears Friday night at 7 and then on Saturday in a 7:30 pm NESN televised contest. After a week off after sweeping New Hampshire in a home and home and 7-4 at the XL Center with five different Huskies having multiple-point games. UConn returns to the ice this weekend for a two-game series on the road against the No. 17 nationally-ranked Maine Black Bears. Saturday night's game will be carried live on NESN. The Huskies and Black Bears met back on January 15th, a 3-2 UConn comeback win at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport with Vladislav Firstov scoring the game-winner that ended a Huskies four-game losing streak. Barter Turnbull started the comeback with a goal to make it 2-1. Turnbull who has been scoring key big goals was injured for the last UNH game and is expected to play in the lineup this weekend. The Huskies hold a 6-4-4 lead in the all-time series with Maine with six of those games going to overtime. The Huskies are 6-2-3 against Maine since becoming a member of Hockey East and UConn is 3-2-2 all-time at venerable Alfond Arena. UConn enters the weekend tied Providence for seventh place in the Hockey East standings with 18 points. The two are a point behind UNH and Boston University in fifth. The Black Bears, winners of five-straight, are tied for third with Boston College with 20 points. The Huskies freshman Vladislav Firstov is the Huskies' leading scorer with 22 points coming on 11 goals and 11 assists. Firstov was named the Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Month for January after posting nine points over eight games, scoring five goals and passing out five assists. He had two game-winners and was a +11. He is currently fifth among league rookies in scoring and his 11 goals are tied for second among freshmen goal scorers in Hockey East. UCONN’s sophomore Jonny Evans (Nanaimo, BC) recorded his second hat-trick this season in the road win at UNH. He also tallied three in a 7-4 win over Vermont at home and has 17 points on the year despite missing time with a broken finger. Evans is the only player in the country to record a pair of hat-tricks this season. UCONN however still has no scorers in the Top 20 in Hockey East in any offensive category. This is a team that scores by the committee and all four lines will need to produce this weekend. UCONN does have 11 Huskies who have hit double-digits in points with three players hitting the 20-point mark on the year in Firstov tops at 22, Russian Ruslan Iskahkov 21 points and Czech sophomore Jachym Kondelik with 20. On defense senior defenseman senior Wyatt Newpower is riding a career-best five-game point streak (1g/7a). Newpower matched his career-high with three assists in the home win over UNH and now has a career-best 17 points (three goals/14 assists). He is tied for eighth among league defenseman in scoring. Husky defensemen junior Adam Karashik and senior Wyatt Newpower are among the top shot blockers in Hockey East this season. Karasik is third in the league with 43 blocks and Newpower is ninth having blocked 35 shots. Huskies center senior Benjamin Freeman, a Falmouth, Maine native is ranked third in Hockey East in face-off percentage, winning .590 (282-196) of his face-offs on the year. Freeman leads the league with 282 face-off wins. In net Czech sophomore goaltender, Tomas Vomacka came up with 42 saves in the Maine win, stopping 20 in the second and 13 in the third. Vomacka made 38 saves to earn his 11th win on the year against UNH. He has been lights out in net and the reason UCONN is still in the playoff hunt. His numbers at 3.40 GAA that is 12th out of 13 spots among goalies, save percentage .894 which is 11th out of 13 and winning percentage .481 which is 10th out of 13 and his personal record of 11-12-3 playing 26 of 27 games doesn’t tell the whole story of how well he has played. (Portions of a UCONN press release were used in the formation of this section). NOTES: The 14-goal weekend was the most goals posted in consecutive games under head coach Mike Cavanaugh and the most since the Huskies posted 17 in two-straight in wins over Niagara (8-5) and Sacred Heart (9-3) in 2010-11 when they were in the AHA conference. -No surprise that Vermont head coach Kevin Sneddon after 17 years (27 overall in college hockey) announced he will be stepping down from the Catamounts head coaching gig at season’s end are currently winless in the conference this season at 0-15-2 and have an overall mark of just 3-20-4. They are also winless for a full year in the conference losing 23 games. -The Walter Brown Award is awarded to the top New England Division I collegiate player the award started in 1953. Of the 23 players submitted for consideration a few CT connections. The group includes two from Sacred Heart University (AHA) in Mike Lee (Hamden/Gunnery Prep) and Pioneer teammate Jason Cotton. Cotton’s brother, David of Boston College was nominated as well making them just the third brother combo nominated since the award’s inception. Billy and Bob Cleary and former Whaler Scott and Whaler draft pick Mark were the others all four attended Harvard. Jack Drury, son of ex-Whaler Ted and uncle Wolf Pack GM Chris who grew up in Trumbull. Uncle Chris won the award twice while at BU. Five other players have won it twice including Ranger and ex-Pack Mike Mottau former New England Whaler and Hartford Whaler, Tim Sheehy and former Ranger Jimmy Vesey. Boston College’s Spencer Knight (Darien/Avon Old Farms) and Tyce Thompson from Providence College son of ex-Pack and current Sound Tigers head coach, Brent Thompson are under consideration. The winner will be announced at the end of the regular season and before the NCAA tourney begins and the winner will be presented the award on May 3rd at a banquet in Saugus, MA. Several former Wolf Pack players besides Mottau have won it. Matt Gilroy, Dov-Grumet Morris, Bobby Butler, and Ty Conklin. Rangers who have won it include current Blueshirt Adam Fox, Mottau and Brian Leetch (Cheshire). Several others with CT connections were awarded the honor, the late New England and Hartford Whaler, John Cunniff, Scott Harlow (New Haven Nighthawks) and John Curry (Taft Prep-Watertown). -Five players from CT Division II/III college hockey was among the 30 names placed in consideration for the Joe Concannon Award to the best New England Division III player. Liam Feeney, Tedy Loughborough and Barclay Gammill from Trinity College (Hartford), Walker Harris of Wesleyan University (Middletown) and Connor Rodericks of Connecticut College (New London) were nominated. The award winner is announced before the NCAA Division III Frozen Four at the LECOM Harbor Center in Buffalo, NY and the award presented at the New England College Hockey Writers brunch in May. -The announcement of the University of New Haven Board of Trustees approving in Boca Raton, Florida last week to go to Division I in all sports speculation of hockey returning to the West Haven-based school after a 37-year absence has begun. The Chargers program yielded former LA King GM Dean Lombardi, recently retired University Maine assistant coach Jay Leach and retired Amity HS head coach Gary Lindgren among their prominent hockey alumni. At the program then at the Division II level in the ECAC North conference playing its home games at Bennet Ice Rink in West Haven and the Milford ice Pavilion. was disbanded in 1983. Presently, they have an ACHA Division 2 club program. The collegiate hockey landscape has changed significantly since then and will change more in the next two years, but it's still early in this process to say exactly where they may land, clearly changes are coming.
