Friday I found this little big one on the ground at work. I think it's a type of #bloodbee and it didn't seem to be doing good. Made Sugar water, moved it to the garden boxes. It was still there tonight. Can't find much in the line of identification. It was quite large, a bit bigger, maybe the same size as a toonie, and a copper and reddish abdomen, lots of black on the legs, thorax(fuzzy) and a large head. After sucking blood from various animals these creatures return to their hive to deposit the blood in a sort of honeycomb. Inside the bee the collected blood is treated with an enzyme altering its consistence and transforming it into a sticky red glue. The Queen lays her larva in these treated honeycomb pods. Due to the heavy rain and floods ravaging the blood bees habitat, those larvae not in a protective glue shell would be drowned.
