Monkey Shoulder really knows how to throw a party, and the recent #RewriteTheNight party at Factory19, PJ, was no exception. There was mini golf, giant jenga games, a dance floor, a record playing stall, a slushie machine, and Monkey Shoulder drinks. LOTS of Monkey Shoulder drinks. The boys from Jann @boonleongho and @dwin.ng were there to dish out cocktails. Regional Monkey Shoulder brand ambassador @bksaurus was also there to do a quick cocktail workshop. There was a coffee cocktail, a slushie cocktail, but I was content with Monkey Shoulder highballs. All night long lol. All in all, a fun event. For this Friday's review I thought about having something a little bit different, and since I haven't reviewed a lot of blended malts, here you go, it's the blended malt scotch whisky from the Naked Grouse. . First launched in 2011 as a blended Scotch matured in first-fill Sherry casks, The Naked Grouse was billed as a ‘smoother, sweeter’ addition to The Famous Grouse extended family. . Now the expression is being relaunched as a standalone brand made from a selection of malt whiskies but without any grain, offering a ‘more robust’ flavour than its blended predecessor. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Red Fruits, Spices, Vegetables. . Palate: : Prunes, Black cherries, Maple, Woody, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Roasted hazelnuts. . Finish:Medium long finish. Caramel and honey flavoured chocolate ensure a sweet and comforting landing. . It's not common for me to have blended malt scotch whisky, this one is not too bad, but I still prefer the single malt 😉. . What do you guys think about this one?🙂. . Daily MCO Drink #496, MCO Day #498: WHITE HORSE, made with equal 40ml parts of Monkey Shoulder blended malt and Dolin Dry Vermouth, 15ml Benedictine DON, 1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters, stirred over ice and strained. A drink that dates back to 1930s, having appeared in 1937’s Cafe Royale Cocktail Book. Supposedly created by E. Goodall and originally uses White Horse whisky, hence the bane. Large equal parts of Scotch and Dolin Dry makes this a particularly dry whisky-heavy sipper. Love the sweet herbacious note of Benedictine at the finish. And yes, that’s the flag of Rohan.
