You sit down in a cozy corner, the warm light of a nearby lamp casting a soft glow over the worn leather cover of the book in your hands. The title, The Asheville Chronicles, is embossed in gold lettering, catching the light and drawing you in with its promise of hidden tales and forgotten legends. You run your fingers over the intricate design on the cover—a delicate weaving of runes and symbols you can’t quite decipher—and take a deep breath, anticipation thrumming through your veins.

Gently, you open the book, the old pages crackling softly as you turn to the first chapter. The faint, musky scent of aged paper fills the air, and you can almost hear the whispers of those who have turned these very pages before you. The words seem to come alive as you read, transporting you to another time and place, to the shadowy alleys and moonlit forests of Asheville, where the line between the mundane and the supernatural blurs.

Taking a deep breath, you turn the page once more, ready to continue your journey through the mystical and mysterious world of The Asheville Chronicles.

Spotted: The next round of arrivals for my movie night in Central Park! Blaze looking dashing and full of mystery as he struts into the park in a white button up with dress pants on. Briar, on the other hand, looks like she's about to go to the U.S. Open instead and of course, she's looking like her networth. Marilyn while looking gorgeous, the outfit screams that she's not sure if she wants to be hot or cold for the movie night. Maybe she's got plans to cuddle up with someone? Her friend, Vivienne, lookng like she does not want to cuddle up to anyone, though we do wonder if she's here with a venetta or not. Hal looking like he's about to star in a cheesy Christmas rom com and he's the lowley baker that the woman from Manhattan falls in love with. Then here's Mrs. Elijah Hamilton, Elise! Looking hot, but we wonder if this outfit has anything to do with her husband or if she's trying to impress someone else? Obie looking like the same old, same old n his basic ass outfit. Asher looking hot with his glow up and we love everything, except for the shoes, Reid, or Briar even, should have stopped him from wearing those shoes. Carter lookig like he texted Mary and Adrianna to see if they were wearing leather jackets, so he had to wear a leather jacket too. Rounding out these looks is Jay Hamilton. He hasn't been to an event in a while, but we gotta say, the basic plaid and pants combo really works for him.

Both of the boys would definitely get sick at the same time.

As soon as Jake brought your sons home from daycare on Friday evening, you realized they were both sick. "I hope it's just a cold," you murmured, holding Asher and pressing your lips to his forehead. "He definitely has a fever."

"Damn it," Jake groaned. "Do you want to call the sitter, or should I?"

Your husband looked beyond annoyed. You had been looking forward to going out for your wedding anniversary all week, but there was no way that was going to happen now.

"I'll do it," you said, watching as Liam burst into tears in Jake's arms.

After that, instead of the romantic evening of your dreams followed by mind-blowing sex, you and Jake measured out doses of medicine and gave the boys baths. You fed them applesauce and listened to Liam complain that his ears hurt. Jake took temperatures and had Asher throw up on him. By midnight, you were exhausted.

Saturday wasn't much better, but at least all three of your boys fell asleep on the couch for a long afternoon nap. Even in his sleep, Jake held onto the two of them like they were his whole world.

"Maybe we can go out tomorrow evening if they're feeling better?" you asked later that night while you heated up chicken noodle soup for dinner.

"You don't understand," Jake complained. "I had plans for you, Darlin'. Like the most indecent stuff."

You laughed and said, "I like doing indecent stuff with you."

"Liam. Asher," Jake drawled. "Get better really fast, okay?"

On Sunday afternoon, you sneezed five times in a row, and Jake's cheeks were blazing with a fever. All four of you were sick. None of you were going anywhere. Once the boys were in bed, you curled up on the couch with your husband, a bag of cough drops, and a box of tissues.

Jake kissed your forehead before shoving a tissue in his nostril. "Literally nobody else I'd rather feel like shit with than you, Darlin'."

"I'm going to kill you all!" He roared, losing all composure. Hunters were on him in an instant, ready to go full Hunger Games on their guests. Not on his watch. So he stilled. Fell eerily calm. His sadness, his grief had never been his power. There would be time for grieving, but tonight, tonight was about vengeance. "I loved her more than I will ever love anything in this life," he murmured, his eyes shut on the tears that threatened to weaken him and they poured down his cheeks instead. "And now, I will kill more than 5 of you."

With a burst from the earth through his body, he freed himself of those who had him. His eyes turned to find Asher in the crowd, all their talk of getting everyone out seemed so distant now, of thinking he had hope enough to talk sense into the humans, and all he could give his friend now was an empty shake of his head.

What happened now...what they brought upon themselves...well, he'd always said it, hadn't he? It was inevitable.

"Sir Lysander!" He called, "get her out." His tone firm, accepting no argument, body hollow, and gaze determined. He knew the fairy would know who he meant. "The OEA has taken enough from me."

Now they would know what Briggs Mikaelson was like with half a soul. His eyes took in the room, though he wasn't looking for escape routes. Nah, he didn't need to escape. That was hardly the point now. Then he saw it: the open bar. Raising his hand, it all exploded, covering the floor around it. After all, they did say their crime scene was missing an accelerant, so he'd fix that mistake.

From his feet to the bar, a fire spread, consuming. "Thank you for the hospitality!" He hollered, shrugging off the cake-covered jacket. "And as we're all having such a fucking good time, no one's gonna leave." At his words, his fire spread along the corners of the room until he'd fully enclosed it.

"So I think, what we're gonna do now," he explained, feeling almost out of body and somehow very in body...as if he were always born to be this. A smirk graced his lips but it reached none of his features, "is kill you all. Because what you have failed to realize...is we're stronger." Bringing his hands in, the blaze followed his will, wrapping around a couple of the hunters as their screams filled the air.

"And you just killed the only person who could have stopped me." He could feel it, he'd never realized he could feel it. Collapsing to the ground as the fires died down, he took a few deep breaths as his eyes fluttered closed.

And when they opened again, the hues were amber. Turning to another, he growled, "no one leaves alive."

Hello I am back with various fire-related words. I looked for a bunch of different categories, but my personal favorites are Cremain (remains of cremation), Cresset (container for heating oil), and Mags as a short form of Magma. Cenerentola, Cendrillon, and Aschenputtel are Italian, French, and German names for Cinderella that denote cinders. Hearth, Kiln, Lantern, Candelabrum, Chandelier, Sconce, Beacon, Lantern, Angithi, and Girandole are all vessels for fire, and Girandole can be a display.

And crucible! Also fun for metaphorical forging implications :) I’m sending these as asks because it would be a looong post. I also had Cannel and Candle on the list. Bitumen, Binchotan, Ogatan, and Lignite are all kinds of coal. Ash and Asher are names on their own but also short for Ashley; Char (Charcoal, Charlotte, Charles, Charlemaigne), Corrie (Coruscate), Abby (Ablaze), Molly/Mols (Immolate/Smolder), Connie (Conflagration), Burn (Berenice, also a Poe character!), Torrie (Torch) “Alkali” comes from a wort relating to ash. Anthracite is a type of coal. For general fire base words I have Smoke, Ember, Spark, Sear, Scald, Incinerate, Ignite, Scorch, Singe, Sizzle, Blaze, Incendiary, Flare, and Combust. Coal, Slag, Joss, Culm (and Smut), are all residue from fires. Pyrolysis is the process of breaking things down with fire. Some igneous (formed directly from magma) rocks include Obsidian, Pumice, Gabbro, and Tuff. Ceramics are also made by firing. Last one! Stoke and Bank pertain to tending to a fire, and Stoker is also a surname (Bram…). Scintilla and Spangle both refer to small bright things, like sparks. Finally, Collier refers to people or ships who carry coals. “Carry coals” also used to mean “bear an insult” (Romeo and Juliet, 1.i, for example) because the job was viewed as demeaning.
