Zinnia the Echidna

The oldest and most disinterested in taking the life of a guardian. She’s not against the arts and principles of echidna culture, but the very idea of staying in one place, forever makes her reluctant to hold the mantle. She frequently dodged Knuckle’s attempts to mentor her when she was younger, which caused some tension. Now, the two are at a much better albeit rocky ground.

Despite her devil-may-care attitude, she’s a caring friend and holds her head out for her oddball brother. She fosters a love for anthropology (specifically of the Knuckle’s clan) though she’d rather die than admit that to anyone, much less her family. She’s an expert tracker and aspiring treasure hunter, but not quite on par with her mom when it comes to stealth.

Rocco “Rock” the Echidna

Unlike his older sister, Rock’s much more interested in the Chaos Emerald. Of course, he also just as obsessed with any other shiny rock he might come across. Rock’s inherited his mother’s love for gems which manifests itself into kleptomania. Anything that sparkles catches his eye: coins, glass jars, whatever he can get his hands on. He’s a normal child otherwise, getting into mischief at what not.

He’s especially attuned to the chaos emerald, often catching visions of a certain echidna spirit. Rock is extremely superstitious, adopting little rituals that ensure his time spent on earth is always blessed and happy. He habitually makes talismans and other lucky charms as to protect his family from bad fortune as well.

Rouge and Knuckles

Knuckles continues his life-long pursuit of protecting the chaos emerald. Though, his life has grown quite less quiet with the entrance Rouge and eventual two children. He’s learning to step back from Zinnia and let her figure herself out, however stressed it may make him.

Rouge has left behind her thieving ways (well, mostly) and now works a totally legit/super important Head of Espionage and Central Intelligence at GUN. She’s adopted a different color scheme over the years, perhaps in admiration for a giant green gemstone perhaps not.

(first time posting my art on tumblr and boy i'm wayyy too nervous about it!!!! aaaaaaa) i saw this meme on pinterest ages ago and it immediately made me think of knuxouge / the rouge + knuckles dynamic in general hehe. i just had to draw it,..,,.,. as always i meant to just do a silly doodle but im incapable of Not Being A Total Perfectionist w my art so i rendered her a lil.

“Huh? You mean the Mystic Eye? It’s that one over there. You can tell not only because of the arc, but the location. It watches over Mystic Ruins.”

“It was discovered when people still lived there?”

“Yeah. It’s one of the first constellations recorded in my tribe’s astrology scripture.”

“Don’t get mad at me, but I already forgot the meaning. It was destiny, right?”
