The Road Apple Gals
In the road, eating the fallen fruit, and having to make a decision as to which way to go to get out of the way of the traffic.
Decision made!
Who put this fence here?
No worries!
Boink!
Apple feast interrupted, but not for long. There are more at the top, that's where they came from.

Columbian black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus).
#happy little bonus because despite the bioluminescent mushrooms being an excellent solution to natural will-o'-wisp#I feel I may actually prefer the piece without them#but gotta keep the theme#realHum#Art#Drawing#deer#deer art#Columbian black-tailed deer#Columbian blacktail deer#Columbian blacktail#black-tailed deer#blacktail deer#blacktail#Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

asking for definitely no reason absolutely no drawing in progress why do you ask? details of the types of deer below the poll
Blacktail- known for having large ears. common in western america
Whitetail- known for (gasp) having white tails. common in western america.
Elk- second largest species in deer family, although most people dont really think of them as deer. known for screaming. common in foresty america.
Reindeer- you know dasher and dancer and donner and vixen. found in mountainous northern america.
Coues- a specific type of whitetail. called "grey ghosts", they are known for being elusive. common in arizona mountains
Roe- small, reddish deer. has antlers that look actually pretty close to his. not native to america
Fallow- the deers with the spotted backs. usually kept deer, not necessarily wild in america. invasive to united states
Red- one of the largest deer species. they bark and roar. often dark red/brown with cream bellies. used as venison. have been found in texas, georgia, and pennsylvania
#alastor#hazbin hotel#hazbin#hartradio#hazbin fandom#its just.#their bodies are so different#and their antlers are all different shapes!#so yes im drawing him as a fucked up deer#but i have to commit to a type of deer#or risk making this ugly inaccurate deer amalgamation#hazbin alastor#alastor headcanons

if there might be a mountain lion it’s like if your boss might walk by and catch you slacking off :(
for me in WI an important part of the peace of the forest was knowing I was large and strong and capable of intimidating any animals in there out of trying to eat me (There weren’t rly bears by us). It’s different out here in CA with mountain lions. :(
#even the blacktail deer are like wayyyyy smarter than whitetails and much more habituated to humans#so I don’t get any deference. Deer these days just don’t understand respect

I was texting in the public restroom on my break today and I heard noises on the tile and thought someone had come in and so i went to put my phone away and leave but when I looked up I realized it was just a deer that had wandered into the restroom and I was relieved so I went back to scrolling
It took a few more seconds for my critical thinking skills to catch up to the present but Im glad Im at a point in my life where a blacktail deer can wander into a medical center bathroom and my default process is: well I know she isnt gonna narc on me and her presence is none of MY business either so we're cool

Deercember Day Twenty-Seven: Columbian Black-tailed Deer | Will-o'-wisp
The Columbian black-tailed deer or blacktail (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) is found in western North America, from Northern California into the Pacific Northwest of the United States and coastal British Columbia in Canada. East of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Ranges in Oregon and California, black-tailed deer are replaced by other mule deer which have a different tail pattern. They have sometimes been treated as a species, but virtually all recent authorities maintain they are subspecies of the mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus). Strictly speaking, the black-tailed deer group consists of two subspecies, as it also includes Odocoileus hemionus sitkensis (the Sitka deer). Despite this, the mtDNA of the white-tailed deer and mule deer are similar, but differ from that of the black-tailed deer. This may be the result of introgression, although hybrids between the mule deer and white-tailed deer are rare in the wild (apparently more common in West Texas), and the hybrid survival rate is low even in captivity. These two subspecies thrive on the edge of the forest, as the dark forest lacks the underbrush and grasslands the deer prefer as food, and completely open areas lack the hiding spots and cover they prefer for harsh weather. One of the plants that black-tailed deer browse is western poison oak, despite its irritant content. During the winter and early spring, they feed on Douglas fir, western red cedar, red huckleberry, salal, deer fern, and lichens growing on trees. Late spring to fall, they consume grasses, blackberries, apples, fireweed, pearly everlasting, forbs, salmonberry, salal, and maple. More information here.

#this went better than I ever could have hoped or expected and may be my new favourite#this one is special to me because this subspecies of mule deer is exactly the same#as lives on the property where Stan and I will be building our home#and is one of only a handful of deer who I've had the honour of seeing in person#the mushroom species is the western jack-o'-lantern mushroom (Omphalotus olivascens) native to California and Mexico#shoutout to my bestie Wind for the amazing suggestion for a natural will-o'-wisp#I am‚ quite frankly‚ blown away with myself today#Deercember#realHum#Art#Drawing#deer#deer art#Columbian black-tailed deer#Columbian blacktail deer#Columbian blacktail#black-tailed deer#blacktail deer#blacktail#Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

A little guy greeted me outside my home the other day when I came back from the store! I was awestruck that he was so close and looking at me, but he started slowly walking away when I tried to take a picture 😞
