His blazer, her necklace...the fact that she looks a solid 6in taller than him!! 😍 I wonder if she'd be offended or flattered if @BlackTribbles sent her a #PIONEEGROES tee? 💖 #astronauts #BlacksInSpace #blackwomendidthat #space #nasa (at NASA - Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX)

bad & boujie
As black women on UT’s campus, we tend to grasp for what seems to be unattainable. But as black women, we also know that with hard work and a sprinkle of black girl magic we can achieve anything.
This page is meant to uplift and empower black women on UT’s campus and around the world. The world has underestimated black women and showcased us in a monolithic manner, making us one-dimensional. We are here to show everyone that we are more. In today’s society, black women are taking the world by storm, graduating valedictorians at major universities, accepting positions as surgeon generals, black girls are creating million dollar businesses, black women winning Pulitzer’s, Oscars, Grammy’s, and so much more.
Our name Bad & Boujie was inspired by Migos’ song “Bad and Boujee,” but we are recreating and redefining that meaning. Being bad has frequently been associated with physical characteristics (ie. big butt and breasts and small waist), while boujie has typically been characterized as a negative behavior of a woman who has high standards. To be bad and boujie characterizes you as a strong and driven women who enjoys the finer things in life and expects a certain level of stability and organization. We celebrate these bad and boujie women in all the many arenas of success that they are conquering, including academia, film, athletics, literature, business, etc .
Black women are phenomenal. And we are here to share this with the world.

Cicely Tyson, born in New York City, is a successful actress in television, film and theater. When she was eighteen years old, she started modeling. After that, she became interested in acting and obtained her first acting job. However, because her religious mother believed that her choice was a sinful path, her mother kicked her out of the house. This started a two year silent treatment between the two of them before they reconciled.
Cicely is very selective about the roles she takes. Before considering or accepting a role, she takes long consideration into the depth and quality of the character that would be portrayed. When she reads a script, she is looking for her skin to tingle, as she has stated. She took a stand against the quality of roles she would accept. She has high standards for roles and will only accept roles that meet those standards and positively portray African American women. Because she took a stand, Cicely and other African American actresses are gaining greater access to better parts. She is widely known for her breakthrough performance in the movie “Sounder”. She once said, “One lady told me that before she saw "Sounder", she didn’t believe black people could love each other and have deep relationships in the same way as white people.” Acting credits include, but are not limited to: The Help, The Rosa Parks Story, The Trip To Bountiful, How To Get Away With Murder, etc...
"Unless a piece really said something, I had no interest in it. I have got to know that I have served some purpose here.''
— Cicely Tyson
“Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew.”
— Cicely Tyson
Cicely Tyson has accomplished amazing things. She is the co-founder of the Dance Theater of Harlem. She has received many awards throughout her lifetime. Both the Congress of Racial Equality and the National Council of Negro Women have honored her for her excellence. She was also inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1977. She is the first African American to win the Best Actress Emmy Award for her role in the “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.” The NAACP presented her with the 95th Spingarn Medal for outstanding achievement by an African American. Past recipients of this award include Martin Luther King Jr. and Jackie Robinson.
Awards received include, but are not limited to:
Black Girls Rock - Living Legend Award (2015)
NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special (2015)
Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play (2013)
