ABOMINATION FIGHT!!!!!

I don't know if Marina will ever meet the other abominations in WOD lore but damn just the idea of her getting them to form a pack and try to take down her ex who probably the most dangerous of abominations...well I can only dream!~

Ough. Rotating the blorbo. The first time Bianca is introduced to her Gaian pack and they ask her her Garou name.

She can't tell them it's Mother's Wail. The anguished scream of a woman upon realizing what her children had been subjected to, upon seeing the face of the Wyrm and knowing her progeny had stood at the heart of this very same spiral. She can't let them know what she once was, and how badly hurt she is. She's an Ahroun, she has to project strength and purity, not corruption and pain.

I just. Book of the Wyrm has some really terrible stuff in it (looking at you, perspectives on other tribes. eugh) but the detail that Black Spiral Dancers are named after the first sound they made after emerged from the Spiral is soooo good. Such a great little quirk to describe how the Dancers break down and indoctrinate their Kin.

WtA thoughts: the BSD inspiration

Warning: I am going to discuss and mention awful people in this. BSDs are awful. Please take care. Whenever I think of inspirations for a Black Spiral Dancer, I tend to ignore the most common suspects. Manson, Dahmer, Gacy and so on are awful. But they aren't BSD level of awful.

The examples that I use for BSDs are people who kill because it is easy, who abuse and harm because it is fun and who eat people because that's what they decided to do. HH Holmes, Albert Fish, Shiro Ishii and David Parker Ray are those who I see as the best examples of BSDs. It isn't just that they are cruel, it is that they mentally pretty much live in another reality. They don't escalate, they just do what they want because they feel it is their right to do so. It is good to understand that to BSDs murder, rape, cannibalism, torture and such are not special or exciting. It is their everyday and part of the culture they belong to. To a BSD, killing a person and eating them is as special as buying a Big Mac for us, it's just lunch. If someone weaker than them is annoying, they beat them up and rape them. Maybe kill and eat them. Because that's just what you do to whiners. Doing the above to a garou is the fun part, because garou are considered sentient people to BSDs. Not any safer from abuse, but at least each one matters. This why I avoid using your typical serial killer as an example for a BSD. Maybe a BSD kin, but an actual BSD? They are worse in a way that is hard to explain.

Rattler Bratovich, 33, Second in Command of the Family Homestead and local menace. She wasn't Embraced, not like Molly, but is the oldest of the Bratovich girls there and the second-oldest of the 'Kiddos' at the homestead-- the only older one is Elijah, who spends most of his time off the land and looking for meat to kidnap for the Tzimisce. Rattler's fucked up eye lets her see spirits/wraiths/etc if she closes her other eye and focuses and is an implant from Gulo, the Tzimisce who maintains their home.

More Rattler Sketches, because she's a terrible woman and I love her dearly. Rattler is both victim and perpetrator; she's trapped in a situation she had no chance of escaping, and has been made into something truly horrid -- but the fact that she never had a chance to be anything else makes her a bit... tragic. It's one thing to be a monster because you wanted to, but another entirely to be born into a Revenant House-- and in particular, the house with the reputation for being the most fucked up out of them all, you know? She's not a good person by any means, but she is a good character. You've all seen Molly, of course, and she's Bratovich number 2 -- 7th/8th gen Tzimisce, got locked in a shed for a while until she picked up the flesh-warping practices properly, all of that.

Abbot of the Garden Snakes, Molly has a sense of hospitality that makes her a natural for the position. She shares what she has with the rest of the pack, and gets very frustrated when dealing with Cainites who are more selfish. She understands it, but... c'mon.

Then there's Patchwork/Patchcoat "Patch" Bratovich, the Bone Gnawer Hillfolk Ahroun who hates humans, hates the society of Garou, and refuses to listen to a lot of what the Nation proposes. She hates you, if you're a Silver Fang, a Black Fury, a Talon, a Coggie -- she fucking hates you, because where the fuck were you when the Kin-Blooded Bratovich were suffering? Where were you?

Black Furies in particular really make her mad.

Patch fights the Wyrm, but she doesn't have a pack. She doesn't often attend Moots. She refuses to associate with a lot of the Garou of the Nation, because she thinks they're all just fucked up angry failures who don't actually care about the world beyond their narrow view. She does a lot of work with the poor and the suffering, though, and actually knows a few healing gifts. Patch's Rage is fuelled by what she's seen.

When she was first-changed, Ma Bratovich leashed her up and put her in a silver cage. The muzzle and the scars that are burned into her skin left Patch in a near-constant state of Frenzy. It was there that Rat reached out to her and offered something more than just... being imprisoned.

The fourth Bratovich is Mar'yagh, and she's a Black Spiral Dancer Galliard. Not from Molly/Patch/Rattler's branch of the family, Mar'yagh was fourteen when she Changed, and was immediately driven out to a rural Pit where she was made to Dance the Spiral. Mar'yagh seems pretty normal, and actually has a series of gifts to hide her wyrm-taint. She's amicable, ambling, and has a series of good jokes.

But the Rage is there, and the Wyrm is there, and sometimes her head just hurts, you know?

Her personal Patron is Singing Bat.

The fifth and least-developed Bratovich is Winona (Winnie/Wyn) Bratovich. She's either going to be a Hunter of some kind or a Widderslainte, and I'm not too sure what I want to do with her yet.

The Kingdom Vistaria, is the most powerful and respected kingdom as it holds the most dangerous and feared creatures in its abyss; oddly enough unharmed, tamed and loved by the Queen of Vistaria, whilst being intimated by the King.

Somehow, Greymorr had planted a curse that destroyed the barrier the king and queen created that safely separated the creatures of the Abyss from the general lives in the society of Vistaria. Not only did this free the monsters of the Abyss, but it altered their understanding and connection to the kingdom making them go rogue, destroying anything in their path.

Luckily, he wasn't able to control them into obeying his orders and instead went against anything that tried to assert order onto them. Even the Vistarian Royal couple. At this point, Diana was 15 years old and the king and Queen sent their daughter to the second closest Planet to them, Earth, with her pearl pendant protected by a positively cursed locket. She needs to find the other princesses on Eath to help her get more powerful and return back to Vistaria and defeat Greymorr.

I've been really looking forward to this post for a while, and it's now time to unveil the art team I've assembled to put this project together! They're some heavy hitters that y'all ought to recognize, so without further ado let's meet them!

Mx. Morgan (They/Them)

Mx. Morgan G Robles (they/them) is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Seattle, Washington. Their work is best known for its use of macabre themes, animals, and nature. They use these themes to explore mental illness, gender identity, or simply to make neat skulls.

They're known for producing book covers for several major publishers, and they've been brought in to design our book covers as well. In addition, they've developed a number of inside pieces as well!

Dogblud She/Her

Dogblud (she/her), is a Midwestern cryptid working as a freelance artist and writer. Her work is near-exclusively sapphic, centering primarily around werewolves, werebeasts, and their strong thematic ties - horrific or otherwise - to all forms of womanhood.

A long-time fan of Werewolf: the Apocalypse, she's joined our team to produce all of the tribe artwork for the book, in addition to a number of other contributory pieces!

Vehemently underground, they build stories about horror, grief, depersonalisation, and the isolation that comes with being just a little too weird and too angry to swallow whole. Art and catharsis go hand in hand, as far as she’s concerned.

In a throwback to the original game series, Meka has joined to produce a 22-page fully illustrated comic for the series entitled Cracking the Bone. A postgraduate in traditional comic artistry, we're extremely fortunate to have them on the team.

He is a part-time freelance illustrator from Scotland. His work is heavily inspired by the rugged terrain (and rain) of Scotland with a focus on werewolves inhabiting the wild landscapes both past and present. He explores themes of mental illness, societal stigma, dark folklore, and sad werewolves in the rain.

WolfhideWinter has joined our team as our monster-maker, dedicating their time towards depicting our primary antagonists of the garou: The Black Spiral Dancers, and the Wyrm's brood! We can hardly think of a body horror artist more fitting for the role.

Chamomile- Patience & Energy in Adversity

My main pc’s next life- typically in the aus my friend and I explore she is reborn into the Black Spiral Dancers as a young man named Connor Braxton and we explore that concept.

He grows up in one of the numerous pits meant for the chaff of the wyrm, more soldiers and meat for the grinder of its machinations, and attempts to run away from the tribe before he can be tossed into the spiral labyrinth and his mind lost forever to it.

I may end up updating his story to be in line with W5 eventually but I’ll need more info on past lives and the situation with the BSD! 😈

Vaggie just slowly, kicking and screaming, turning into a carmine. Constantly wearing pointe shoes to the point she can't walk flat footed, hair pulled up in a dancer's bun, her clothes turning black and white, knowing weapons inside and out, ect.

Her just one day going, 'f@#$ I'm a carmine now'

Clara 'always was, sis, come on we have practice in ten minutes.'

For a full 1 minute I can see that happening. XD ONE. minute

Thing is tho, look at Clara and Odette, they're Carmilla's canon daughters and they're as FAR from being her clones as possible- in style as well as looks overall.

there's one lab coated mad scientist and a cool girl in thigh highs, high waisted shorts, and a turtleneck crop top.

the only shared family traits is white eyes red sclera, and hair being pulled UP in some way

The closest they come to dressing LIKE their mom is on Extermination day with their matching black body suits- and even THEN neither is wearing angelic steel dance slippers, just a wind about of criss cross ribbon around one leg.

Carmilla doesn't want her kids to be clones of her

(for me that's one really BIG sign of her caring about them as people, not just "her" kids. she's fine with them being their own selves)

so I could for sure she Vaggie and her bonding over a shared passion for dance...

or dancing FIGHTING anyway. uhh

anyway, I don't think Vaggie would switch to ballet. Or go around on en pointe tippy toes. Not even for the extra inch or so of height it'd get her- im kidding im kidding-

Vaggie wears FLATS. Her tol af girlfriend is in heels- even her future dad in law has some heel on his boots- and she's in small, simple, flat shoes.

Canon will say if or not her "great dancer" thing gets confirmed in-show or what kinda dance style she does, but I'd guess it's something less... theatrical than ballet. More something that can be done anywhere any when with a comfy pair of normal shoes.

PLUS I think she ALRADY got the "Carmine family makeover"

the dark base skin-tight suit (dark like an exorcist OR dark like-) her hair pulled back and put UP (in practical Carmine style) the white cross across her chest (Carmilla's theme of crisscrossing, things laced up)

and yeah, the cross could be a ref to her eyepatch- except the color is wrong. and that makes it look more like... well..

look at HOW the angel blood spiraled down her RIGHT leg by the end of the battle, like a ribbon

she already looks a lot like a Carmine to me <3
