🍁 Autumn - Year 3 - Burkett 🍁
Kieran has been just fine, which was surprising. He's been taking long walks with the dog, and would rather focus on the positive things in his life.
Speaking of positive things, ROS has quite the challenge: The Burketts will lose 100% of their funds in a stock crash, but they won't have to move, because ROS arranged a to have someone to help out with the bills. But who?
Let's find out.

Archer city, Texas. Population 1603 or something. Oddly punches above its weight culturally speaking. Angela from The Office show is from here. Larry McMurtry, who wrote lonesome dove and the screenplay for brokeback mountain used to live here. Also Texasville was filmed here.
Tumblr media
This is the one stoplight in the town, where the two highways meet. You can see another one of those painted horses like from wichita falls, which like the library is a pokestop. I have a youtube video of the monuments text but tumblr doesn't let me post links on mobile for some reason. Behind me is the veterans memorial which is a gym.
Tumblr media
There are a total of 4 gyms in town.
From right to left
1. Archer county museum
2. Royal Theater
3. Archer co veterans memorial
4. Burkett Park.
The pokestops were mostly in the square, but there were also a couple alone far out in the northwest side of town in the cemetery and post office in the north east.
It was a surprisingly walkable city. I went to the souvenir shop and had a nice conversation with a fellow. He sang a song about a local author
I met a couple of travelers from Perugia who also played pokemon go. After I secured them 7 2$ bills, we did some raids together.
Tumblr media
Re Gelo is the name for the ice king from adventure time in italian by the way.
Tumblr media
Thanks to inviting friends lists and remote raids we successfully got 9 people on it. According to the friend log someone got a shiny. Woohoo.
Tumblr media
Speaking of I caught this whismur before heading off.
I also met a family that drove together to do raids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fields outside of town look nice.
Tumblr media
Looks like they were burning though.
I met the youngest mayor of texas while purchasing chicken gizzards. Become mayor right out of high school. He probably doesn't hold the title anymore, but that is pretty wild.

Undercover Beckett part 1
Bill: pov no wonder she is so tired Castle says she gets tired easier than most people.
Alexis: pov dad tells me to get our things. He carefully moves her so he can get up. Kate wakes up suddenly and starts looking around all panicked and frightened.
Lily: pov wow I have never seen someone wake up that freaked out, Castle mentions where she is and everything is okay. I can see he is rubbing her back. He asks if she is okay, she says yeah just freaked out a little. She thanked us for tonight in a sleepy voice. Castle picks her up and carries her to the car since she is still sleepy, Alexis is carrying their stuff. Kate is in Castle's arms, her head resting on his shoulder, her arms are, around his neck and her butt is resting on his left hip, his left arm is holding her up.
Kate: pov it is the next day I took my meds and ate a banana. Ryan mentions when he and Esposito visited the rehab place they were very rude and didn't want anything to do with them. A patient mentioned some suspicious deaths that had happened, could be a cover up. We have to tread lightly because it could have been anyone who killed her, even a staff member or other patient. Ryan said he used street cameras to follow the car that dumped the body on the surveillance camera all the way to that rehab place. I called deputy chief gates to request an undercover officer.
Gates: pov I mention to Kate you have health issues which could be used to our advantage. You have PTSD and take emergency injectable heart meds sometimes which could make it look like you have a drug problem. Your heart condition causes you to be tired a lot and your post traumatic pain might help, they might think you're trying to cover up pain with drugs. Maybe we should send you undercover. It is agreed by the higher ups that Kate is going undercover. Her cover story says she has had issues since her Dad's death. We can't mention she was shot so we have to find another way to mention her heart condition. Maybe she got it from drug use. Hmm I'm going to have someone make fake medical records. I tell Kate she has to cover the bullet scar with a bandage or something.
Castle: pov Kate tells me she is going undercover in a drug rehab place, Gates suggested it since she has PTSD and a heart condition it could make it look like she is a drug user. Lanie has been informed on everything, we have lunch with the boys and Lanie to go over the case. Dr Burkett has already been informed, Lanie will be visiting her regularly to make sure she is okay. Kate was briefed on what info she needed Kate was advised not to take any drugs offered to her since they could affect her heart.
Esposito: pov the rest of the day was spent doing paperwork and research. Kate's hair is being dyed blonde later. We were advised by Gates not to comb her hair tomorrow or let her shower, since it would make her look more like a drug user.
Castle: pov I head back to the loft to help Kate pack, me and Lanie are dropping her off the day after tomorrow.
Martha: pov it's the middle of the day, Katherine and Richard are coming in the front door. I tell them I thought you had a murder to solve Katherine says yes but I have to go undercover as a drug user in a rehab place. Richard says since she has symptoms from PTSD and her heart condition it will make it look like she is a drug user.
Kate: pov Castle is packing a bag full with my medical stuff i might need. Most of my clothes button in the front, same with my bras. Once we are done Castle starts on dinner, which is my favorite vegetable stew without the meat. Martha was nice enough to run to the local drug store and get some box hair dye. She helps me dye my hair blonde. Castle also changed his appearance. It turns out it does not look so bad at all. It was now 2 days later and Lanie and Castle were dropping me off at the rehab place. Last night I had a bad nightmare so I'm kind of tired.
Monday 8am
Lanie: pov at the rehab place me and Castle met with the lady in charge. Kate definitely looks like a drug user. She did a good Job faking it. I mentioned to the lady Jo has a heart condition and takes 2 types of meds one by mouth daily and another one weekly in her pod on her side. I give her a list of foods Jo can not eat. I mention she also has nightmares. I give her my phone number and mention in any medical emergency call me immediately. I go over Jo's fake medical history with the woman. The lady mentions all meds have to be locked in this office to prevent other patients from getting to them. I ask if any staff members are trained in CPR or know how to use a defibrillator, Margaret says yes.
Castle/Derek: pov Kate has to have an exam done by one of their Dr's. Lanie is allowed to be in the room.
Kate: pov Lanie knows how to fake a blood test so it looks like I'm on drugs. The nurse named Cindy weighed me. She put a pulse ox-meter on my finger and took my blood pressure. She then asked me to lift up my shirt so she could listen to my heart, my nervousness makes it look like I'm on drugs. I heard her comment about how huge my scar is. Turns out I'm being except as a patient.
Castle/Derek: pov I help carry Kate's bags to her room. Her new name is Jo Houghton. In honor of her mother. I kissed her goodbye. To be continued. ………

He said...she said....and they said....

(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all 125 minutes of 'Truth’, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)

Well...the thing with biopics (though in IMDB’s case --- apparently this film is classed as ‘historical’...which makes sense...but comes as a surprise...because I don’t usually watch titles produced by The History Channel) is that creative license usually comes into play to aid storytelling.
One example? My favourite scene in ‘Darkest Hour‘: Churchill taking the train. Joe mentions in the commentary that it did not happen.
PS: During a rewatch...I noticed one interesting thing towards the end of the credits....the film was shot in NSW! Whoa! What!? Maybe I wasn’t much in tune to the news during 2014 as I thought (Or at least....had enough confidence that what I deemed newsworthy would just find its way to me --- I guess it had...in hindsight...but...just more than 5 years later)
So of course I wondered....where this was:
Tumblr media
(Then I found out they actually filmed somewhere in Western Sydney...so....I’m still trying to think which area most resembles that. I mean...they could have shot that in the CBD....but filmed a bulk of the film somewhere in suburbia)
PPS: After learning of how fiery the opinions are over what happened...I’m glad that the NSW Government was open to embrace the production of the film.
PPPS: The ‘Screen To Script’ for this one took awhile because I wanted to find the name of Mary’s son. Interestingly...it doesn’t exist in public! How cool is that? So I opted to go with ‘The Boy’ which was a term used to refer to him.
--------
HIGHLIGHT:
INT. MARY'S HOUSE (SITTING ROOM) - NIGHT
MARY is sitting with her son. He has a camcorder pointed at her.
THE BOY We're sitting here with Mommy. Thank you for being here, Mommy.
MARY Oh, thank you for having me.
THE BOY Mommy, you were away for a long time again.
MARY Mmm Hmm.
THE BOY What were you doing?
MARY I was in New York working on the news.
THE BOY And what does that entail?
MARY I was asking questions. Questions help reporters get to the truth.
THE BOY Were you with the men with the cameras?
MARY Mmm Hmm.
She nods.
He studies her closely. Eyes slightly narrowed.
THE BOY Interesting.
His mother mirrors him.
THE BOY Can I have a new camera, please?
MARY We'll have to talk to your dad about that for Christmas.
THE BOY I'm trying to get to the truth here, Mommy. Answer the question.
She smiles warmly.
MARY I think this interview is over.
She stands and closes the camera.
THE BOY OK.
MARY Nice try.
--------
My verdict of the film: 8/10

Frozen Corn — Frozen Corn (Idea)
Tumblr media
When Harry Smith picked up his prize at the 1991 Grammys, just nine months before his death, he exulted, “I’m glad to say my dreams came true. I saw America changed through music.” One wonders what the shrewd, pattern-perceiving polymath might have gleaned from more recent changes. And did he change us, or did he just remind us who we have been? Mind you, the effect of accurate memory can be pretty transforming, and there’s certainly no denying that the mark that said music has made can still be perceived upon certain American brains.
Take Frozen Corn, the trio of Anthony Pasquarosa, Joshua Burkett and Chris Carlton. Here are three guys who, more than a quarter century after Smith’s passing and 65 years after Folkways first released his Anthology of American Folk Music, sit around plunking banjos, strumming a guitar and singing songs they probably wouldn’t know if Smith hadn’t put the set together in the first place. Three of them — Clarence Ashley’s “Cuckoo,” Bascom Lamar Lumsford’s “Mole in the Ground” and “Dry Bones” — are on the Anthology. And what money would you like to lay down to say that anyone would know about Charlie Poole and Dock Boggs, who popularized a couple more of the LP’s seven tunes, without the Anthology? These guys are Smith’s cultural heirs, and don’t you think that they don’t know it.
But this is still 2017, so an LP means something different than it did in 1952. Then it was a shiny new form of sound transmission destined to restart a music business that had taken some hard hits from the Great Depression and World War II; now it’s a defiant refutation of the accelerating meaninglessness of digitally distributed culture in the 21st century. Any way you look at it, these songs testify to the struggle it took for some people to live in this country and the humor that helped them do it. But there’s still something very contrarily contemporary about the way these guys play. If anyone had played one of these songs as slowly as Frozen Corn do to Ashley or Poole, they’d have insisted in putting some Benzedrine in their Ovaltine before they started another. Frozen Corn’s default pace makes the spinning Apple beach ball seem like an embodiment of speed. “Don’t go so fast,” they seem to say, “and think about why people need to joke about being so damned bone tired.” Or maybe they just think these are fun songs to play while they sit around together, so they’re in no hurry to move along. Either way, they’ve got a good point.

ask meme: bluegrass fandom go on do it i dare you
nghnghnfhghfnghgnfijgjfdndhgnf you had to ghfnfgh gnfhgnfhdnhghgae;rojg okay okay okay I guess we're doing this
Context / info given for all poor readers wondering who the flip flap dippity dap I'm talking about.
Send me a fandom and I’ll tell you my
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) From Flatt & Scruggs: Earl Eugene Scruggs, his thick black eyelashes, and his dorky gap-toothed grin. Earl Scruggs and his soulful, earthy, expertest banjo picking that makes me react ferally (in ways no other banjo picker can do for me... look, he's the Father of Bluegrass Banjo!!! We're all playing after Earl to an extent!). Earl Scruggs, the inspiration for why I have a banjo sitting next to me rn. That Earl.
I know way too much information about his life, don't test me, it's bad, it's endless Scruggs lore, I won't shut up for five months.
Tumblr media
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) From the Del McCoury Band: Delano Floyd McCoury, who has the happiest smile-laugh ever. Look at his squint! He's so squinty! Every time I see a photo, I smile back until my cheeks hurt. Del is the human personification of a hug. Unlike other folks I've listed, Del's alive and touring (at the young age of 83). He's a vital living link to traditional bluegrass and earlier years of the genre.
Tumblr media
Another scrunkly is Burkett Howard Graves, better known as Uncle Josh from Flatt & Scruggs, *THE* dobro player who developed the technique and inserted the instrument first in bluegrass, a fun comedian, and not sore on the eyes. ;)
Oh right, and literal tiny child Marty Stuart in Lester Flatt’s band is a GIFT.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) From Flatt & Scruggs: Dorris Paul Warren! There were tons of extraordinary early bluegrass fiddlers. But Paul does not get enough recognition and respect for being one of *THE* most-heard bluegrass fiddlers, member of the highest profile group (Flatt & Scruggs) for decades. Our relative lack of public biographical information is a travesty. A TRAVESTY I SAY!!!!
Tumblr media
Also on this list: English Tullock Jr. (Cousin Jake) from Flatt & Scruggs, because badass bassists deserve more love; Rob McCoury, the banjo picker from the Del McCoury Band; and Wilma Lee Cooper, who has a BIG VOICE and dominated vocals in the early years when (what we now call) bluegrass was like 99.5% male.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) Gary Scruggs, eldest son of Earl Scruggs. He did not get the public love and attention that Earl's middle son, Randy, got. I am president of the Give Gary Appreciation Committee. Look, if you can't appreciate his sexy pose and sword, we can't be friends.
Tumblr media
poor little meow meow (“problematic” / unpopular / controversial / otherwise pathetic fave) Jimmy Martin falls here, as does Carter Stanley of the Stanley Brothers. Both were well-recognized for lead singing, but made interesting life choices. Jimmy Martin was a CHARACTER, the type of obnoxious butthead you'd laugh at from a distance but hate irl. Carter unfortunately had drinking problems, but his social personality was endearing. I love his loyalty to baby brother and music partner Ralph through everything. Like, it's movie-worthy loyalty. THEY MADE A PLAY ABOUT HIM!!!
If we go out of bluegrass and mention traditional country, gotta shout "Hank Williams".
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason) Does this count? Regarding Father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe, whom others revere to a nearly religious level? I like to call him Daddy Boi Billiam. And other things that'd make him roll in his grave. Look, he's the reason we're all here, his music composition skills are top notch, and his decades and decades of ever-improving work is unparalleled...... but he was human, and I like making glib comments to keep him off the collective pedestal.
Saying obnoxious, cheeky things would be enough to torment this stoic man. So it counts. I want to make him squirm.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell) I... have conflicting thoughts about Louise Scruggs, manager of Flatt & Scruggs. On one hand, I respect her unparalleled business acumen that led the band to international fame. She's historic as the first woman in her field, too, for country music. But I also... she... there's... stories... of business decisions she made that I find cold. I also put her as largely responsible for why Flatt & Scruggs's music output diminished in quality during the 1960s and why Flatt & Scruggs broke up. So I guess her? Doesn't feel nice for me to say, though.
Oh. Oh wait. John Duffey from the Country Gentlemen / The Seldom Scene pings me wrong. I guess him. Multiple famous bluegrass blokes made comment about his pranks feeling "mean," him acting too arrogantly for his skill level, etc. Don't get me wrong, he was a remarkable tenor vocalist. But yeah. From what little I know of him.

One of the reasons I love watching Flatt & Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys perform (instead of just listening) is because you see how much they enjoy the music and the company they’re in.
This group of musicians (Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Jake Tullock, Josh Graves, Curly Seckler, and Paul Warren) played with one another for double-digit numbers of years. Even though there was some turnover and coming in-and-out, these guys played with one another tons.

Lester Flatt | guitar and lead vocals Played in this band 1948-1969 (21 years*☆)
Tumblr media
Lester was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and emcee for the group. As his name indicates, he’s one half of the Flatt & Scruggs duo. He was always welcoming and homely when he talked to audiences. It’s hard to get some of the humor from him in gifs because lots of his jokes were verbal.
Some reasons I love watching Lester are:
He usually looks so relaxed and makes me feel relaxed.
When he gives introductions for the other bandmates, it’s usually a bunch of clever insults. For instance, “He represents Knoxville, Tennessee. If you’re not acquainted with the area, he goes to show that you can raise just about whatever they want to down there.”
When the announcer of the show, T. Tommy, introduces Lester, it’s usually some sort of joke or insult, too. The pure delight that pops on Lester’s face at a good joke is beautiful.
He straight out says into the microphone when someone makes a mistake. So much for “musical performance professionalism means pretending you did it right.” XD
Earl Scruggs | banjo (default), lead guitar (often enough), and baritone vocals Played in this band 1948-1969 (21 years☆)
Tumblr media
Earl tends to keep a solemn poker face when performing. Hilariously, while he was known for being a very shy man of few words, and while Earl let Lester do ALL the talking in their performances... in these TV Shows, Earl is the number one most likely person to toss comments at bandmates in the middle of a performance.
Some reasons I love watching Earl are:
His comments mid-song are genuinely hilarious. I swear he’s sometimes trying to troll his bandmates to lose their composure in the middle of the song. It’s things like a bandmate singing a line complaining about their romantic interest, and Earl piping up, “Who? Me?” I don’t think he was trying to make it sound gay, but does it sometimes sound gay? Yes.
There’s a quiet charisma in how he plays, straitlaced, staring straight at the camera. He was a very humble guy, but you can feel the indisputable authority of his banjo mastery in his posture and notes.
Every single time they switch up the show (musicians playing alternate instruments, guests coming in), you can tell Earl loves it.
I may or may not have developed a celebrity crush on him. Shut up.
Burkett “Josh” Graves | dobro (usually), bass, rarely guitar, lead vocals (on duets with Jake) Played in this band 1955-1969 (14 years*)
Tumblr media
Josh is one of the comedians for the band. When Jake was in the band, the two of them would work together as a duo, both to sing fun novelty songs together, and as a comedian act. Josh would play the straight man to Jake.
Some reasons I love watching Josh are:
He is an open book of emotions. I’d say he’s the easiest to smile and laugh of the group. I saw one song where, the entire performance, he was on the verge of breaking down laughing. Earl was off-screen making stupid jokes after every line Josh sung. Every time Josh started to regain composure, Earl said something new and broke the guy down again.
He is an extremely, extremely talented dobro player with great technical skill. Josh pioneered a new style of playing the instrument that hadn’t been done before. He combined multiple different ideas of musicianship together, including a lot of three-fingered banjo technique.
He’s very handsome, especially when he sings.
English “Jake” Pierce | bass and high baritone vocals Played in this band 1954-1955, 1958-1969 (12 years*)
Tumblr media
For those of you who are like, “What the fuck are high baritone vocals?” this means that Jake is singing the baritone part but up an octave. So, Jake is singing the highest part, higher even than the tenor. Jake’s voice is a distinct, shrill, piercing sound and I love it. Jake is one half of the comedy duo and always plays the rascal. From the stories I’ve heard, Jake and Josh and their shenanigans were not that different offstage.
Some reasons I love watching Jake are:
Usually when he’s not doing a comedy routine or a novelty song, Jake has a serious expression on his face. However, he’s got a specific invested drive to him when he plays the music. And then other times, he’ll decide to be silly, such as the wild running across the screen you see in my last gif.
Jake and Josh have this perfect chemistry to them. They know one another so well and you can feel it in their body language.
Jake has a really good cadence and sense of timing when it comes to his comedy delivery.
It’s always exciting when a bass player gets a solo. That’s just a rule of bluegrass. And Jake has an aggressive sound I find unique.
John “Curly” Seckler | mandolin (usually), guitar, tenor vocals Played in this band 1949-1951, 1952-1958, 1958-1962 (12 years*)
Tumblr media
Sorry I didn’t have any gifs with Curly in the forefront this round (though around the time I took this screenshot, Curly stuck his tongue out at Earl, responding to something Earl said). Curly tends to chill in the background a lot for these shows, playing rhythm mandolin and singing harmony. He’s one of the main vocalists for the group, doing duos, trios, and quartets. He’ll also pop in as a featured soloist, which is always a treat.
Some reasons I love watching Curly are:
I already mentioned the featured soloist, but I mean... those are a treat. He has a unique, simultaneously soft and piercing voice. Whether he’s singing harmony or a solo, his voice is something I pay attention to a lot. I remember reading in his biography that at one early point in his career, he was called “Radio’s Gift to Women.” AMAZING.
His mandolin solos are rare, and the group tended to tease Curly off-screen about his mandolin playing. But it’s legitimately fun when the mandolin FINALLYYYYYY gets featured in this band.
Paul Warren | fiddle, guitar (almost never), and bass vocals Played in this band 1954-1969 (15 years*)
Tumblr media
Paul is the fiddler that made me want to fiddle. His style of playing is the old-time hoedown style, filled with double-stops and finger flurries.
Some reasons I love watching Paul are:
HE IS SO FREAKING BOINGY!!!! BOINGY BOI!!!! Paul’s a chronic foot tapper. In live performance recordings, you can sometimes hear him thumping away. I heard that during rehearsals, Earl tried to get Paul to stop by standing on Paul’s foot... but that would only result in Paul’s other foot tapping. Eventually Earl had to give up. Paul also throws himself up and down, bouncing energetically in the direction his bow is going.
You can tell how much he likes going fast.
I think Paul is one of the first people to laugh and gawk when another bandmate makes a mistake. Maybe I have selective memory on this, though.
* Anyone with an asterisk (aka everyone except Earl) played in Lester Flatt’s follow-up band, too, Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass.
☆ Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs played with one another in the band that came before this. They met as fellow musicians playing for Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. They were in the band together for over two years.

Let’s not deny that there can be a dark, bittersweet side to Mothers’ Day. As worded so simply by this image by repealhydeartproject there are often complex stories behind any given person’s experience of Mother’s Day. I'm English so celebrate Mothers Day in March but I'm aware America celebrates today and I'm all for supporting our differences and diversity.
Thinking of mothers who have lost children - the unimaginable loss of a child does happen. A parent is always a parent. The love does not die, even if the child has passed.
Thinking of those who lost mothers.
Thinking of those with strained mother relationships.
Thinking of those with strained child relationships. There comes a time in the arch of parenting when it is best for us and for our children to let go of being responsible for them. Let go and let them. Yes, we will always be parents, but the job description changes as the kids get older.
Thinking of those who have chosen not to be mothers - this is not a political statement. It’s about compassion, for example, some people can't have a child of their own for various reasons with the only option being adoption they may chose not to follow that path. There are many, many reasons and circumstances that can cause a person to decide they will not be a parent.
Thinking of those yearning to be mothers - If you are yearning to be a mother do not despair. Try to be patient and to try be grateful for what you have right now whether it's good health and family and friends. You will find a way.
Some details about American Mothers Day, sourced off good old Google:
•Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis, who had moved from Grafton, West Virginia, to Philadelphia, in 1890, was the power behind the official establishment of Mother’s Day
•She swore at her mother’s gravesite in 1905 to dedicate her life to her mother’s project, and establish a Mother’s Day to honor mothers, living and dead.
•Also in 1908: the first bill was presented in the U.S. Senate proposing the establishment of Mother’s Day, by Nebraska Senator Elmer Burkett, at the request of the Young Men’s Christian Association. The proposal was killed by sending it back to committee, 33-14.

Why did you elbow me? 139
Achilles Castle part 44
Dr Burkett: pov That's it, can you breathe for me in and out slowly. I make the decision to give Kate a dose of heart meds, I also give her some calming meds before this turns into something worse. Her heart condition and her PTSD do not mix well. A gurney is being brought in to transfer her to a room on the cardiology ward. I knew this might happen to Kate.
Nurse: Lauren: pov sir are you Mr Castle, okay I need you to follow me. Your wife Kate seems to be having a PTSD episode and we need you to calm her down before this turns into a massive heart episode. Dr Burkett is giving her some extra oxygen to help her breathe better and he has administered some heart meds and calming meds.
Castle: pov she is doing so much better. I'm rubbing her arm in a soothing way. It will be awhile before we get the scan results. A nurse comes in the room to check her vitals, Kate is breathing much better so she switches her to nasal oxygen. The nurse asks Kate if she wants some breakfast. She says yes the nurse returns with a bowl of cheerios. Kate falls asleep for a bit while I'm on the computer. Dr Burkett and a specialist are looking at her scans. Once in the room with the specialist he says Kate has Scarring on her pericardium, ventricle, pulmonary vein and chest which makes it hard for her heart to work right. Normally you would see a disruption of blood flow. But Kate's body has decided to make up for the injured area and push her blood through faster in other areas. Which can cause the other areas to struggle. Her left ventricle beats faster than the right one making the right one work harder than normal. He says it looks like she will need a Catheter Ablation Therapy procedure or an implantable cardiac defibrillator at some point. He also suggests we make an appointment with a chiropractor. It might help Kate a lot, he recommended a chiropractor that specializes in cardiac cases. Kate's medical file will be sent to him; we just have to make an appointment once we get home. We discuss the cardiac procedures a little bit more, A nurse comes in asking if she wants something to eat Kate says yes, Dr Burkett says once she is done eating she can be released.
Kate: pov I'm eating oatmeal while Castle is eating a sandwich. I'm not happy with the results. No way I'm having those procedures done. The nurse comes back in with the release forms for me to sign, the ride back to the loft is short.
Castle: pov As soon as we get home I make the appointment Kate would do it herself but she is tired, today wore her out. She is going to take a nap. The cardiac chiropractor has an opening for tomorrow afternoon which is fine. Dr Burkett sent over Kate's medical history and Dr Bill Caryn is looking over them. I wheel myself into our room and notice Kate is still up. I put her ampstrip and pod back on then sit behind her on the bed and rub her back. I can tell she is getting sleepy. I tell her when the appointment is, she mentions she is scared. I decide to cuddle with Kate and take a nap, I wake up and wheel myself to the kitchen to start on dinner. Kate is supposed to take it easy today.
Kate: pov I can hear Castle in the kitchen making dinner. Castle says while I was asleep Mother and Alexis stopped by saying they were having a grandma and granddaughter dinner together at an Italian restaurant. I lean in and give Castle a kiss on the lips, he is making a healthy lasagna which is so thoughtful. He proceeds to kiss me back. Things are starting to heat up in the kitchen and I mean the oven since it's almost at the right temperature to put the lasagna in.
Castle: pov I can tell Kate is still nervous about tomorrow, me and Kate talk about her fears while we eat. Afterwards I wheel her to the bathroom. A bath is just what she needs. She fills the tub with water and checks the temperature to make sure it's okay. I'm thinking of having a plumber come out and change our faucets so it can tell us the temperature of the water so I don't need a thermometer.
Kate: pov I grab my stuff and get in the tub, Castle is writing while I relax. I'm supposed to drink a lot of water to flush out what was given to me. It's so relaxing in the bath, the soft music and nice relaxing scent are starting to put me to sleep. I wash my body and get out of the tub once I'm changed into pajamas. I head towards Castle's office to let him know I'm done and then head to the bedroom.
Castle: pov I'm going to get some more writing done and wait up for Mother. I can hear the front door opening. I wheel into the living room and ask my mother how dinner was. She says great. It was nice getting to spend some time with Alexis. I explain how Kate's test went and mention Kate has an appointment tomorrow. I eventually head off to bed.
Kate: pov In the morning I shower while Martha makes breakfast castle already showered. It's heart healthy pancakes for me with fruit on the side and regular ones for him and Martha. Work was boring; mostly paperwork, lunch was a fancy salad.
At the appointment I'm signing myself in while Castle fills out some forms. I'm so scared, a few minutes later and my name is being called. Castle holds my hand on the way to the room. An assistant takes my vitals, Dr Bill Caryn the cardiac chiropractor then shows up. To be continued. ……
