I’m legit curious why the British press is so dedicated to sucking this Dipshit’s dick with such devotion. He’s shat on them consistently and they are still so desperate to do his bidding at turn. Why? Also, what did William do, because they are clearly so against him. I never thought I’d see a day when the british press treats an heir’s entire existence as an affront to the non-spare.

So they cover Harry because he gives them scoops, leaks, and something to talk about. Harry even famously used to go out to pubs with them. William doesn’t. William keeps them at arm’s distance; he’s courteous to them on engagements and is a proper host on foreign visits but distant and not as easily accessible. The press ignoring William’s work to cover Harry is meant to be a punishment: “become our bestie like your brother is and we’ll cover your work but don’t talk to us, we’ll ignore you.”
Because the press is threatened by the fact that William doesn’t need them to do his job. He’s the heir, the future king, generally well-liked by the public, and has a huge income now from the Duchy of Cornwall. He can sidestep the press by using his social media or his own comms team. He makes the press irrelevant, which terrifies, frustrates, and angers them.
Harry makes the press relevant. He lets them do their job. He gives them that ability. Which is kinda…ironic, I suppose. For as much as Harry hates the press and has bullied them for what they do, he doesn’t realize that he enables it. So while he wants to be the great modernizer who revolutionized how the monarchy engages with the press, it’s actually William doing that by not talking to them or engaging with them outside of his work. If Harry had just kept his mouth shut and cared more about the work than getting positive, friendly coverage, then he’d get all the credit.
But he isn’t, he doesn’t, and once again it’s Big Willy getting all that Harry wants.

I see from the coverage yesterday that:
1. Harry and Earl Spencer patched up whatever disagreement they had that made Earl Spencer nope out of going to Lili’s christening with his sisters. Welcome to the Big Mummy Challenge!

It's time to reveal what new Sims 3 series I'm planning, which I hope you will participate in!
Since I was a child I always liked reality shows, especially Big Brother (the UK edition to be exact) and I liked the idea of the SimBrother challenge. I created my own take on this challenge, which I already did on Discord channels but now it's time to try my luck on Tumblr (and maybe Twitter 😉).
Welcome to the Big Mummy challenge which is basically a SimBrother challenge... but with mummies!
Eight contestants enter the Big Mummy House, where luxuries, magic, and secrets await those who enter. These housemates will have to live together, complete tasks and challenges, forge alliances, maybe cause some drama, while the weakest will face eviction from the hands of our lovely mummies - the servants of Big Mummy.
Who will be the last Sim standing and win the big prize?
Every Big Mummy has a theme, and this season's theme is... will be a surprise 🫢, the screenshots from my previous post might give you a little clue 😉
The casting is now OPEN and your Sim can become one of the contestants!
You can submit your Sims either by creating a post and using #BigMummyCasting on Tumblr or Twitter; or by sending me a DM with all the necessary info and pictures.
At the end of the casting, 8 Sims will be chosen and I will ask their creators for the files (either in .Sims3pack or .package format)
You can send your submissions until February 11th, 2024
Only one submission per player
Submit a human Sim within Young Adult - Elder life stage (no Occults this time, sorry 😔)
Do not use any CC, but you can use all EPs, SPs, and Store items
The only defaults I use in-game are Ultra-Plain Eyes and Faces by tamo, which can be seen on the hosts above
You can set multiple outfits for your Sims but it's not needed, I will dress them up for the tasks
Include a brief introduction of the contestant:
- Name: (e.g Bella Goth) - Life stage: (YA - E) - City: (from existing cities in The Sims franchise) - Traits: (at least 5) - Introduction: (a little backstory of the Sim, why they decided the enter the contest) - Skills: (1-2 in-game skills they are really good at)

Today's mix:
Nite:Life 04 by Terry Farley 2001 House / Deep House / Tribal House
Well, this probably isn't the greatest commercial mix that legendary house producer-remixer-and-DJ-extraordinaire Terry Farley ever made, but it's still a decent one. Farley was an integral cog in developing Britain's acid house scene into a total fervor during the mid-to-late 80s. He co-launched a fanzine called Boy's Own with the late, great Andrew Weatherall and others, co-hosted and DJ'd at events by that same name, and also co-founded the Boy's Own record label too. And then in 1992, he co-founded the Junior Boy's Own label as well, which ended up with both Underworld and the Chemical Brothers on its roster. And then when you think about how important *those* groups are in particular to the growth and popularity of electronic music writ large, and know that they wouldn't have sprouted up if not for acid house catching fire in the UK in the first place, you realize just how indispensable someone like Terry Farley is when it comes to literally all of this.
But ultimately, I think the thing that mars this mix more than anything else is that Terry really seemed to be partial at the time to these super deep and moody tunes that featured hushed-tone spoken-word monologues from rugged-voiced dudes and I just think a lot of that stuff, especially in retrospect, is pretty damn corny. All you have to do is press play on this mix to get an immediate taste of what I'm talking about here. And then that same voice returns on the "Tom Middleton Cosmos Vocal" mix of The Path's "Praying" too, with sets of lines like the following:

Now, had these super generic lyrics been sung in some sort of way, rather than just delivered in a deep monotone, we may have been able to just overlook their Derek Zoolanderish simplicity and keyed in on the melody instead. But we can't, and as a result, this song and others like it just feel very lame almost a quarter-century later 😒.
But despite all of that, Farley still brought some pretty sweet bangers to this set. "Musica De La Celva," by Hipp-E & Tony (Hipp-E is from the duo of H-Foundation, who mixed the prior installment in this Nite:Life series that I posted about yesterday), has this beeping stab in it that you may not realize is actually a sax at first, until that little note proceeds to expand further into phrases, and then has another bit of sax introduced afterwards to complement it all too. Quite nifty track construction there 👍.
And then for the closer, we get some of that good ol' 90s garage house-disco flavor from longtime diva Linda Clifford, with the Ralphi Rosario mix of her "Changin," which I'm sure particularly lit up a whole bunch of gay dancefloors when it was out and thriving all the way back in 2000. Feels like a really lovely, blissful dance anthem, but it's very different from the much darker mood that coats the entirety of the rest of this mix 🤷♂️.
So, given his legacy, I think I was expecting a bit more from Terry Farley here, but even the best don't always end up delivering all the goods that you necessarily seek (see: Paul Oakenfold). Still, though, this thing is definitely solid regardless.

this is gonna be a long ass rant about my 'friend' feel free to ignore, i just need to get this out somewhere cuz im literally shaking she makes me so mad <3
i have this friend, S, and she always goes on about how we are so close and she loves me and she hopes college (im in the uk so its college for 16-18) doesnt separate us and that we stay close etc etc.
but then shes such a bitch and i rlly dont know why im still friends with her. shes rlly insensitive about sh, i mentioned to her when i was younger that i did it and she was supportive, but now she makes jokes about it all the time and she doesnt know i didnt stop at 13.
i have a lot of family issues, and shes well aware of them, but she always tries to make me feel guilty about stuff e.g my mum has adhd and my younger brother has autism & adhd (im considered a young carer) and they both have physical health issues, so it can take ages for me to be able to leave the house if im getting dropped off. theres no bus that goes direct to her house (and i dont want to have to walk over an hour everytime i see her. i could but adding on the bus journey i would spend about 2 hours travelling just to see her, and she always insists i go to her so it would be rlly unfair. (i cant have friends over due to multiple reasons and omg does she bitch about that. she could still come to my town with me but she never has)) and i cant afford to uber all the time so my mum often drives me but we are late a lot. ive told her countless times that i cant control when i leave since there are so many outside factors out of my hands, and she always complains when im late and says its disrespectful that i dont turn up on time among other things.
shes an only child and lives with both parents who do everything for her, so she cant even begin to understand how stressful basic things can be for me and my family. my dad doesnt live with me (he also is undergoing treatment for brain cancer which she doesnt give a shit about, and even says stuff like "oh well you can still go out even if hes visiting, its not that big of a deal" if i tell her i cant go out cuz hes over on a break from chemo)
now shes mad at me because we are going to a mutual sleepover tmrw and she wanted to host pre drinks (which i honestly think is kinda pointless) with another friend before walking to the sleepover together. i asked my mum if she would take me and she initially said yes, but then she changed her mind because its easier to drop me to the mutual friends house from mine, and she doesnt see the point in driving further just for me to have to walk 30 minutes from S's house anyway. when i told S, she said that i was making excuses cuz i didnt wanna go, and that i dont make enough effort since if it were her she would just go anyway (ofc she would bc her parents do whatever she wants in fear of her having a tantrum). no matter how much i tried to explain that i cant change my mums mind, and that if i walk the 30 minutes to hers and then walk with her back to where i was dropped then 1. thats over an hour i have to walk for with my big overnight bag which i dont rlly wanna do, and 2. we will be late because im getting dropped when the sleepover starts.
she also brought up the fact that im often late to her, and said i shouldnt cancel the night before but i messaged her in the morning and she didnt reply, and also i only found out my mum would take me today so theres nothing i can do???
she tried to excuse it by saying shes frustrated that i cant go, and i told her thats not an excuse to suggest its my fault or to say im making excuses, and she left me on read.
shes such a bitch i cant wait to go to college and never have to see her again shes so self absorbed.
i get that its annoying, dont you think im fucking annoyed and i have to live it. and i havent even listed all the issues in this post. she only cares about how my life effects her, and never once has she checked if im ok despite me saying im stressed. i get shes not obligated to check on me, but she constantly goes on about how she loves me and she really doesnt act like it. even friends that i barely talk to have checked in on me after hearing about my home life.
i rlly do like her, and we could be so close if she was just less self absorbed. i cant bring myself to see her as a real friend, because she cant accept a giant part of my life and it really fucking hurts.
she makes me feel like im a terrible person, but theres nothing i can do to fix it. i fucking wish my life was more normal but its not and it never will be so highlighting that its not normal does nothing but make me feel like shit.

Thanks to people gifting me a ton of photos, click the link above to access a pictorial spread of the original Los Angeles cast of Jesus Christ Superstar in the summer of 1972, at the (sadly late) Universal Amphitheater on the Universal Studios backlot in California. To be clear: this is a little album of every picture we've ever been able to scrounge up from the two weeks that Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were in the L.A. cast before they ran off to Israel to make a certain film.
If nothing else, it just goes to show that when you let Tom O'Horgan cook, to use current terminology, he comes up with something less gonzo and more down-to-earth than an avant-garde treatise on futuristic insects play-acting a version of an earlier primitive civilization's myth. (Yeah, that's what the OBC's wild designs were about. I'll explain more someday.)

Background on the Location
Let's start with the venue: we find ourselves at a 3,800-ish-seat open-air Amphitheater on the Universal Studios backlot, built as a daytime arena where Studio Tour patrons could watch a western-themed stunt show and shootout. As the story goes, someone, likely a young person who'd been to concerts in unusual places, wondered aloud whether they could use it as an event space at night. As a test, they ran some old movies (Marx Brothers and so forth), passed out free popcorn and peanuts, and discovered that even without the tour, people would come, park their carcasses, and watch a show. Prime opportunity to make money -- now they just needed an event that would pull crowds.
Picking JCS was sort of an in-house deal. The parent company of Universal was MCA, which then owned a stake in the show along with the Robert Stigwood Organisation. A fully staged version had yet to play the Coast, though successful concert tours had cleaned up at the Hollywood Bowl and across the country. So they booked a month-long run and hoped for the best. Thanks to casting hi-jinks in the Broadway production (again, fodder for another post), Ted Neeley was set to play the leading role of Jesus, and Carl Anderson would co-star as Judas.
Background on the Staging and Design
My guess: O'Horgan knew by now that ALW and TR had toed the party line, but were generally not interested in what he did back in the Big Apple, so a square-one rethink was the order of the day. Moreover, the glitterati of Hollywood was likely to fill these seats at some point. He couldn't do some avant-garde-a-clue (as George Harrison would put it) theater crap in Studio City. So he went with something simpler, more... basic -- the Bible writ large for a comic book generation and an arena audience. (Perhaps this was why Tom felt the focus had to be more on Jesus, moving intermission to follow "Gethsemane" instead of "Blood Money," a choice that, to his credit, was frequently echoed thereafter in UK productions.)
The scenery was arena-level simple: the set consisted of three stone outcroppings backed by an 80-foot-tall (!) cross draped in cloth. On closer examination, the two small stone groups near the sides of the stage were gigantic hands, palm up, with fingers reaching for the sky, and the large stone structure in the middle was Jesus' face. (Per audience reports, when Judas died, he stood in stone-Jesus' mouth, which flamed bright red, and descended into hell screaming, "You have murdered me!")
Herod was wheeled onto the stage in a contraption made out of nude alabaster mannequins, whose arms raised on cue to allow the white-suited Herod his entrance (perhaps the most '70s thing ever). Pilate, almost a Goth King straight out of Conan the Barbarian or Flash Gordon, reigned from a throne of human skulls that was frantically whipped around the stage while he laughed maniacally. For the crucifixion, Jesus and his disciples climbed the uncloaked cross, and as Jesus got into position, the disciples made a halo out of their open hands surrounding his head that glowed in the spotlights. As they played "John 19:41," the cross slowly moved back from the stage until it disappeared into the darkness by the end of the song.
There was still a lot of "go big or go home" about it, in true Tom fashion. As the artist's rendering of the crucifixion on the Playbill's title page or in the mail-order ticket ad (seriously, see link) attests, when Norman Jewison quoted classic art, it was a simple Da Vinci. Tom O'Horgan, on the other hand, went for a straight-up, balls-to-the-wall, extravagant take on Gustave Doré. (Compare that rendering to "Souls of Warriors of the Faith Form a Cross.")
All things considered, it was sort of a forerunner of "pandering JCS" like the A.D. and Farewell Tours, but it had balls compared to what ALW considers an arena tour-worthy production.
Reception
Maybe because it was set up to be a crowd-pleaser instead of playing with weirdness for a supposedly sophisticated audience on someone else's dime, the L.A. production was a massive hit with both critics and audiences compared to Broadway. During the day, it was the Wild West show; at night, it was JCS, frequently filling the venue to 98% capacity. It kept extending and ultimately ran twelve weeks rather than four (of which Ted and Carl, as previously mentioned, played two before shipping off to the Holy Land) until cold weather forced its closure that September.
(Recalled Ted in an interview circa 1993, when the A.D. Tour returned to the now-enclosed Amphitheater, "We used to freeze our buns off with those Santa Anas whipping around. Especially me when I was in that loincloth, hanging up on that huge cross." Not that the image didn't have a huge effect. To quote Amphitheater treasurer Maggie Magennis, who "saw it at least four or five times a week" when it opened, "The most exciting part was at the end. Teddy was up on the cross. We were open air then, and you could see the lights of the Valley. There was something really awesome about the fact that he represented something so spiritual, and yet the temporal aspect of the lights twinkling down below was there.")
My Two Cents
If I had an unlimited budget, I'd give it some twists of the '92 Oz tour and bring this exact thing back. That's what tours arenas and sells tickets, not "Occupy Jerusalem." Who knows? Maybe someday someone will be crazy enough to give me that kind of free rein...

I’m actually surprised Liam has never done the Masked Singer, unironically I think it’s something that would make a lot of sense for him - gives him an opportunity for new and/or old audiences to hear his (boring but on a technical level pretty decent) voice without the preconceived opinions that his name brings to those who may already know it and without being dragged down by his own bad music since it would just be covers
I also just kinda struggle to see him successfully explore anything else in the industry (which is kind of sad considering it would only be a one-time thing)- he’s not a good enough songwriter to do that full time, he doesn’t have the business sense or maturity to pursue the business side of the entertainment industry, he doesn’t have the acting skills to pursue that, he doesn’t have a likeable enough personality to properly go into TV like eg Kelly Clarkson, he’s also not passionate enough to pursue something else eg Victoria Beckham’s fashion company or Niall’s golf company or Cody Simpson’s swimming career, he’s also not gonna pursue academics like Bridget Mendler, the only things I can imagine him *maybe* doing is something along the lines of like when Olly Murs was an xfactor host (and I’m specifically referring to when he was a host not his stint as a coach on the voice uk) or how Baby Spice is/was a radio host?
It’s so interesting when you consider the fact Liam was the one in This Is Us to bring up that he was kind of excited by the idea that post 1D he could go back and live a relatively normal life

I don't think Liam is quick witted enough to present or host a TV show. He'd struggle with reading the autocue at the same time as listening to instructions from the producers on his headphones, plus coming up with his own chat. It's not an easy job.

Copenhagen 2001 - The interval act and other performances
Only two musical extras this year - first last year's winners, The Olsen Brothers kick things off with a reprise of 2000's winning song Fly on the Wings of Love, segueing neatly into their new song Walk Right Back accompanied by four be-tartaned female pipers.
The opening song by last year's winner has been done before, but in 2001 it feels as if this performance establishes it firmly in the schedule. It gets the crowd on their feet and cheering right from the off. The Danes' warmth and genuine enthusiasm for their winners is palpable, and the Olsen's seem to be one the only bands of the evening who actually enjoyed the experience of standing in front of all those people. They may not have had the nervousness of competing for their country this year, but it is a homecoming to celebrate.
Befitting a stadium, the interval has a big name. Possibly Denmark's hottest pop export up to 2001, Aqua. They perform a medley of their biggest hits in hyperactive, irreverent style and do truly light up those moments while the EBU get to work verifying the votes. They have all the pyro, all the effects and their stage gear does actually fill the stage.
Far from static, singers Lene Nystrøm and René Dif are everywhere around the stage, bouncing upstage, downstage, left and right. Lene does kick off Barbie Girl with a heartfelt 'fuck off Ken' and finishes by telling him he's a 'dirty bastard', and she's not wrong. The band and record label were still in legal dispute with Mattel over the song at the time.
That's not only the swearing of the evening as in one of the short ad breaks during the main competition sequence, the hosts perform a short skit (with rhyming of course) in which Søren fumbles the 'trophy' dropping it and smashing it into pieces. 'Shit' he says, understandably. Luckily it's only a prop and Natasja is keeping the real one safe.
All this swearing led to the BBC in the UK having to make two apologies. One to the public for swearing going out on live TV and one to host broadcaster DR for Terry Wogan repeatedly insulting the hosts for their looks and rhyming. Not an enlightening evening.
