10) Which version of Leonardo is your favorite?
I flip between answering Rise and 1987
Gonna get sappy, fitting for a Leo question anyway--
To me Leonardo represents Hope. Across iterations, he usually experiences a lot of intense trauma at Shredder's hands, sometimes at Splinter's hands, often he feels isolated from his brothers, but the things happening to him don't define the core of what it means to be Leonardo
It's the choosing to do what's right even if he gets no benefit.
It's believing in his team when they have only the very slightest chance of winning
It's inspiring that Hope, the kind that comes from knowing you're at peace with yourself even if everything goes wrong, in his brothers
And I think 87 and Rise capture these qualities in interesting ways that stand out
87 facing his fear of snakes, always being kind to children, seeing the good in Lotus Blossom without trying to change her, making the choices in the Red Sky arc.
Rise hyping his brothers up when they don't seem confident, trusting them to get as they did with Shredder while he helped Splinter trick Big Mama, the way he talks about them to Hueso. The beginning and ending of the Rise movie gets to me so bad
Also maybe another core Leo trait is how attached he is to his siblings and feeling like nothing without them. Again exemplified strongly in these two versions
And I just love the idea of the other Leos learning to take these two more seriously, because they both come across silly (in very different ways ahdhajsha), but you do NOT want to cross them
30) What is one common headcanon that you reject?
hmm...... what if I reject canon instead and Turtles Forever didn't happen? (it's a fun enough watch but it messes up all my future headcanons, besides being so out of character for both 87 and 03)
Actually though I thought of one. Wait I forgot
No no wait yes because, especially since the draft where he gets stuffed has been going around, it's pretty commonly believed/understood that in SAINW, Donny was killed horrifically. And I don't outright reject this, however. I think it's very interesting to play with the idea that he disappeared for a different reason. I mean, for Donatello, the tracker planter guy who always has his duffel bag, to disappear without a trace? There's gotta be more of an explanation than 'Shredder got him,' how did they get him without leaving a trace? With no one knowing what happened when Shredder is the biggest threat on everyone's minds? Plus, kinda playing with ideas from IDW, I like the angst of 1) future Donatello being someone teenage Donatello can't respect and 2) Donatello having different priorities that he can't get his family to listen about while they're focused on Shredder.
He could've gotten stuck in that dimension with Kirby. Renet could have come for help and found only him and he got lost in time. Or he went back to the underground city by himself instead of with his brothers
In my Stitched Together au he runs away. Which is not something I've seen much at all, except in this fic that I absolutely love (I was so excited to find this idea explored). It's such an unlikely thing for him to do and that makes it a very fun space to play in as a writer. How bad did things have to be for Donny to leave? In all that time, why didn't he come back? I have so much of this au in my head and I'm having a very hard time getting it to Outside My Head format đ
38) Do you generally stick close to canon, or diverge from it?
A lot of my fics are post-canon so I'm technically sticking close to canon (except Turtles Forever), but adding a lot of headcanons lol
I mean the Stitched Together au will technically be canon compliant, but I don't think I can call it sticking close to canon
My biggest canon divergent piece I can think of is one I'm working on where, during their training with the Ninja Tribunal, 03 Raph and Mikey become Aware of the narrative and take issue with Leo and Donny getting treated the way they did in the first four seasons. So they fight the writer. Hey wait a second I'm the writer. I think they're winning guys sjdjakdhhag

My most recent special interest has been Rottmnt/TMNT! (Go to Insta for The Bad Batch stuff :3). I have few auâs Iâve come up with, canât promise Iâll make stuff for all of them Iâve set up tags n stuff for the one Iâm most confident Iâll continue :).

Info about au!!
[Babysitters Turtle Club]
Summary:Â
Takes place in the â87 Universe in 1997, 6yrs after the show is finished (may be inaccurate to canon! Havenât finished â87 yet). Both the Rise boys and â12 Boys come from 2009 in their respective universes. The Rise and â12 Kids are together for about a week b4 they are found by the â87â Turtles, that week actually being spent in the 2012 universe. Lil Donnie was nearly finished on a device to communicate with Rise Splinter, before he and the rest of the kids ended up in the 1987 world. â12 Splinter gets it to work and keeps in contact with Rise Splinter, theyâre worried sick but seen as the Rise boys where sent straight to â12 Splinter they are hoping that something similar happened with both of their kids. I want them to not know whatâs going on at first but I also donât want this au to be too angsty, hence the Splinters being able to communicate pretty much straight away. 1 1/2 months in The Donnieâs have found a way to commincate with the other Splinters! though they canât send the kids back until some science-y thing is stable, which will be in 2 months. The whole thing lasts about 3 1/2 months. I think the 2012 Kraang will be responsible, which is why little 12yr old Donnie could make a communication device to the rise universe so quickly but 1987 Donnie couldnât.
Character info:
(1987 Boys)
âLeonardoâ 26yrs old
âDonatelloâ 25yrs old (SLIGHTLY older)
âRaphealâ 25yrs old (SLIGHTLY younger)
âMichelangeloâ 24yrs old
â87 Brains&Brawn are twins in anything I draw them in btw
(2012 boys)
âLeoâ 12yrs old (oldest)
âRaphâ 12yrs old (second oldest)
âDonnieâ 12yrs old (second youngest)
âMikeyâ 12yrs old (youngest)
(Rise Boys)
âRedâ 6yrs old
âBlueâ 5yrs old
âPurpleâ 5yrs old
âOrangeâ 4yrs old
I thiiiink Iâm leaning towards Leo being the older twin, but they wouldnât find out until Donnie double checks their ages with âšscienceâš when theyâre a little older. So it isnât super relevant to this au.
Additional tags: #Papaphael (I have a soft spot for little Purple and Dad Rapheal, Iâm p sure the âhc all ur fav characters as being autisticâ compulsion is def rubbing off on â87 Raph hsfsbjsbheb)

HBO Max New Releases: October 2021
https://ift.tt/39ZMSFm
The fall is usually the domain of television. September and October are the months in which networks (and increasingly some streamers) debut all their new series. With its list of new releases for October 2021, however, HBO Max has decided that fall works just fine for new movies as well.
HBO Maxâs new offerings this month are highlighted by two enormous Warner Bros. film releases. The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark opens things up on Oct. 1. The movie is getting a theatrical release as well but you can certainly just watch it via streaming to make Sopranos creator and film purist David Chase mad. Next up is the sprawling sci-fi epic Dune on Oct. 22. Itâs long been thought that a faithful and suitably enormous Dune adaptation was impossible. Now itâs almost time to see if director Denis Villenueve pulled it off.

Even if the movies are the big blockbusters here, HBO Max isnât letting its TV offerings go to waste. Arguably HBOâs biggest running drama, Succession, returns for a long-awaited third season on Oct. 17. Also mixed in to the streamerâs TV offerings are docuseries like 15 Minutes of Shame (Oct. 7) and What Happened, Brittany Murphy? (Oct. 15).
October will also be a good month for movie fans looking to check out some recent heavy hitters without buying a ticket. It: Chapter Two (Oct. 10), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (Oct. 21), and In the Heights (Oct. 28) all arrive this month.

Occupation: Former Marine, MechanicÂ
Faceclaim: Max ThieriotÂ
Content Warning(s):Â
Death, Military Death, Military Injury, Suicide,Â
BACKGROUND:Â
Born & Raised in Tupelo, MSÂ
From a long line of military men, the sons were not expected to serve but it was heavily implied from the family history that they were destined to serveÂ
Took âwork hard, play hardâ to heart as a kid
Definitely pretty wild growing up, nothing too irresponsible, but he was definitely someone who liked to be the life of the partyÂ
He has always taken a liking to working hands-on with anything, so working on vehicles was always fun for him. School on the other hand... not so muchÂ
Got anything on 4-wheels stuck (took it as a challenge)Â
The Carver family is quite traditional and has always ensured that the children, while being able to have quite a bit of what they want, were also given a work ethic to get what they want for themselves
This method caused Dakota to start working the minute he could. He probably mowed your grandmotherâs lawn a few times as a child. He also had a paper route when he was younger so he could save up and have money for things that he wanted to buy
Dakota has a younger sister named BrooklynÂ
MILITARY SERVICE: TW Death, Military Death, Military Injury, Suicide
Dakota enlisted and went off to be a Marine at 18 and stayed in for 12 yearsÂ
He was overseas and saw combat more than once in the Middle EastÂ
Overseas was tough mentally and physically, but Dakota would be damned to let anyone know about it especially if it made them look at him as less or made anyone feel bad for him as it was his choice to proudly serve
A close friend of his was KIA overseas and he was a member who had to assist in retrieving the friendâs body
During that event Dakota had been injured by shrapnel but had not noticed until they had retrieved the bodyÂ
His injury did not impair his ability to serve and he was back on duty as soon as he was considered healed/medically ableÂ
Another friend of Dakotaâs was discharged from the military and after being home for 2 months he ended his life and left behind a wife and young daughterÂ
Years later when Dakota was overseas again he was shot. This injury would be the one that impaired his service and he was medically discharged. He was also eligible for an honorable discharge which he received.
Before he left he was assisted by the group called Paws of War to bring home a dog that he had found while in Afghanistan. The puppy was found in an empty pocket beneath a bunch of rubble and was affectionately named âRooâ (from Winnie the Pooh) as Dakota wold keep her in the front of his sweatshirt or in the pocket of a hoodie before she got too big.Â
PERSONALITY:
Dakota is pretty happy-go-lucky for the most part. He is friendly, likes to help, and generally makes a pretty good friend who would be there for you no matter what.
Believes in hard work and that it will eventually pay off whether or not it seems like it will at the time.Â
Work hard, play harderÂ
Be kind, go to church (because itâll make your mama happy)Â
Not any type of âplayerâ in any sense of the word. He might not be the brightest guy out there, but he definitely tries his hardest and cleans up pretty wellÂ
Still likes being wild sometimes, but itâs only a fraction of what it used to be likeÂ
FAST FACTS:
Dakota loves tomatoes
Again, being hands on is the best method of learning for Dakota so cooking has been kind of a fun adventure to get into (not gonna be on Hellâs Kitchen anytime soon, but heâs more impressive in the kitchen than youâd initially imagine)Â
He has an older body Silverado named âCarmenâ who has probably pulled out a lot of locals and tourists alike from bad backroads and ditchesÂ
Loves hunting, fishing, off-roading, and just plain olâ sitting on the front porch after a long day at work with a beer in hand Â
CONNECTIONS:Â
Friends! Childhood, High School, Military, anythingÂ
Enemies! (He hates Jack Dunn so you can all disagree or agree with him on that)Â
Other Veterans
Car/Truck People
Other Mechanics
Ex-Girlfriend who wanted to change everything about him but couldnât (x), (x)
Ex-Girlfriend who was âthe oneâ or something, letâs make it sad (x)
Letâs make it sadder (x)Â
All of itÂ

LVLMAX
Debuted in 2007 as fresh-faced youngsters and back in action after completing their military service, LVLMAX are either a legendary senior group or washed up tryhards who can't accept their glory days are over, depending who you ask. But despite all odds, they've stayed together through enlistment, scandals, botched cosmetic surgery and 3 flop releases in a row. (Those odds might be pushed in their favour by a deliriously obsessive domestic and international fanbase and just enough nostalgia appeal/name recognition for the general public that they continue to sell out stadiums despite not charting in 4 years.)
Members: Duyeon/Big D (leader), San, Justin (fake maknae), Min, Jintaek, Daero (maknae), Sangwoo
Fandom name: Hundreds
Stage Name: Duyeon/Big D Birth Name: Kim Duyeon Position: Leader, Vocalist, Composer, Lyricist, Rapper Birthday: 1987 Zodiac: Leo Height: 179cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Black Favourite Food: Good coffee Least Favourite Food: Bad coffee Hobbies: Writing music, DJing, making mixtapes
Facts: - LVLMAXâs musical genius, writes a lot of their music. - Very serious and passionate about his work as he is aware that everyone views him as âjust an idolâ. He tends to be very pushy about the âReal Artisteâ thing, even when writing stupid pop songs about getting drunk and partying. - Self-proclaimed âhopeless romanticâ, his groupmates prefer âidiot who falls in love at first sightâ. - Ideal type at debut: someone tall and slender, with a nice smile. Ideal type now: someone with a beautiful voice.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Serial monogamist, very clingy and emotionally fragile. Has nearly gotten married about 4 times, but luckily none have happened or even made news, mostly due to San and Justin begging him not to reveal his relationships until they reach the 2 year mark. - Doesnât have many sasaengs and didnât even in their boom era because he would just stand outside and complain about his hardships and lecture those who would crowd around their dorm until they got bored and left on their own.
Stage Name: San Birth Name: Lee Minsoo Position: Rapper, Vocal Birthday: 1988 Zodiac: Cancer Height: 183cm Weight: 89kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Light blue Favourite Food: Fatty beef Least Favourite Food: Protein shake Hobbies: Working out, video games, watching scifi movies
Facts: - Looks wild and hypermasculine on stage, but heâs actually quite mild-mannered. - Got picked on a lot in middle school for being into nerdy things, so he started working out, and was on the cover of a menâs magazine within a month of debut. - Still into nerdy things and has a reputation of being either the most entertaining member on variety or the absolutely most boring, with no in between. - Nicknamed âMama-Sanâ because heâs always fussing and worrying over his members and famously started crying on TV when talking about when Daero was called for his military service. His manly looks combined with his delicate tears became a huge meme, to the point where people who donât even know who he is use the screencaps and gifs from that show as reaction images. - Ideal type at debut: someone smart and talkative. Ideal type now: someone strong-willed and who shares his interests.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Worries about Daero the most because heâs seen him get in lots of relatively minor trouble and doesnât want him to get involved in serious shit just because heâs too naive to say no. His famous tears were more because he wouldnât be able to look after him in the military than just the fact he had to go.
Stage Name: Justin Birth Name: Justin Park Position: Vocals, Dancer, Fake Maknae Birthday: 1989 Zodiac: Capricorn Height: 172cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Pink Favourite Food: Candy Least Favourite Food: Pickles Hobbies: Girl group dances, making up new aegyo, teasing Minwei
Facts: - Born in Houston, Texas, but moved to Korea 13 years ago. - Was the industryâs #1 It Boy during LVLMAXâs debut and boom era, and has not changed his personality or style since then. - Infamous for his crossdressing, girl group dances, and extreme aegyo. - Well known as the industryâs ârumour factoryâ. Especially loves dating rumours about himself. - On every single variety show you can think of and a few more plus. - Used to have long platinum blonde hair during their debut and boom era, but had to cut it as it was literally melting off. His fans were distraught at the time, but theyâre gradually coming around to the fact that he looks better with shorter hair anyway. - His predebut photos have become kind of a punchline because of how different he looks in them, having had his jaw shaved, his nose and eyes done multiple times, and his chin and cheeks changing shape every few years. Heâs mostly settled into this face, but he posts with such heavy filters on social media that people canât really tell if heâs going to change it or has already changed it. - Ideal type at debut: a pretty noona with lots of aegyo. Ideal type: the same
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Desperately, desperately wants his boom era popularity back, but canât comprehend why doing the same old cringe shit he did back in the day isnât working. - Knows heâs a shipping magnet and that he got a large part of his popularity from people who ship him with Daero, but Daero has proven popular by himself, and he doesnât like that Daero calls him âhyungâ despite them only being a few months apart because it makes him sound old. - Convinced that Subi of DTSY saying he was her ideal type but then taking it back just means that sheâs a tsundere playing hard-to-get, and he will NOT stop bringing it up. - Very, very vain. - Best friends with Minwei, but also a little jealous of his late boom of popularity.
Stage Name: Min Birth Name: Li Minwei Position: Main Vocal Birthday: 1989 Zodiac: Pisces Height: 180cm Weight: kg Blood Type: A Favourite Colour: Forest green Favourite Food: Anything super spicy and aromatic Least Favourite Food: Anything dairy Hobbies: Writing music, playing video games, teasing Justin
Facts: - Originally from Chengdu, but heâs lived in Seoul since debut and people can hardly tell he has an accent any more. - Got a lot of panda-related things during their debut and boom period and got into a fairly big scandal for donating all of it to a local preschool. His words were âI never even said I liked pandas. You assumed it because Iâm Chinese, isnât that wrong? Itâs not that I donât appreciate gifts from fans, but please think about the feelings of others.â. To this day he still has a contingent of antis because of how âungratefulâ and âoverly sensitiveâ he was, but heâs stopped getting panda gifts, so he considers it worthwhile. - Even though he has a shy and quiet image, he gets quite rowdy and mouthy on variety, and has started to overtake Justin on variety show appearances because of how funny and outrageous his âno bullshit, just factsâ behind-the-scenes stories are. - Ideal type at debut: someone gentle and understanding. Ideal type now: the same, but also someone whoâs smart with money.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Was so upset by the panda gift scandal that he considered leaving the group, but the other members, especially Sangwoo and Jintaek, convinced him to stay. To this day itâs still the only time the group has ever fractured, and heâs very glad he decided to stay because his popularity has only grown since. - Feels a little sorry for Justin because theyâre best friends but he doesnât know how to tell him to change his act up without making him angry or having him assume heâs trying to sabotage him.
Stage Name: Jintaek Birth Name: Han Jintaek Position: Vocalist, Visual Birthday: 1987 Zodiac: Taurus Height: 190cm Weight: 70kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Silver Favourite Food: Grilled chicken Least Favourite Food: Pungent foods Hobbies: Modelling, photography, cooking
Facts: - Better known as an actor to the public than an idol, and better known for being incredibly tall and having super long legs than as an actor. - Although he has a cool and chic image, heâs actually very warm and kind and is known to convert even the most staunch hater into a fan just with one short conversation. - Advocate for mental health, has admitted to suffering from depression and anxiety and wants to change the way people speak about mental health to destigmatise what he believes shouldnât be a thing people are scared about talking about. - Ideal type at debut: none. Ideal type now: someone trustworthy and proud.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - More than just depression and anxiety, he was suicidal as a teenager and once tried to kill himself rather than go to school the next day. Luckily, he was saved by his older brother who had just happened to sneak into his room to borrow something from him. To this day he still thinks about how much his brother cried while apologising for not understanding how he felt, and made a vow that he would try his best to be more open about his feelings and to replace those memories in his brotherâs mind with happy ones instead. - Whenever he has dark thoughts, he cooks. Heâs especially good at plating food, as he feels the perfect presentation can make even the most average dish seem spectacular. - Known to stick to Daero a lot, which makes a lot of people ship them. The truth is that Daero just has a high body temperature while Jintaek is always cold, and Daero is more than happy to cuddle for warmth.
Stage Name: Daero Birth Name: Yun Daero Position: Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Maknae Birthday: 1990 Zodiac: Pisces Height: 180cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Red Favourite Food: Hamburgers Least Favourite Food: Tripe, anything with too much fat Hobbies: Working out, drawing, fashion and hair styling
Facts: - Has 20 piercings! - Has a rough and tough image on stage, but heâs actually very soft and gentle and a bit of a coward. - Despite all his piercings, heâs too scared to get a tattoo. - Even though he and Justin are about the same age, he still calls Justin âhyungâ, to Justinâs dismay. - Very cuddly, loves skinship and hugs. His favourite thing is when people ruffle his hair and tell him that he did a good job, which they did a lot more back when he was the cute maknae, and not so much now after heâs returned from the army and gotten his nose bridge piercing, to his dismay. - Ideal type at debut: noona. Ideal type now: someone patient and kind.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Of his 20 piercings, 2 of them are through his nipples, and 1 is a frenum piercing (that is, just under the glans of his penis). He is heavily considering more genital piercings, but itâs hard to find the time off to let them heal. - Not very bright, and is easily convinced by others. This makes him a great target on variety, even though sometimes heâs still too dumb to realise that heâs the butt of the joke. - Gets into the stupidest scandals possible, like driving a forklift unlicensed.
Stage Name: Sangwoo Birth Name: Kim Sangwoo Position: Main Vocal Birthday: 1987 Zodiac: Virgo Height: 178cm Weight: kg Blood Type: B Favourite Colour: Light blue Favourite Food: Samgyeopsal Least Favourite Food: Limes Hobbies: Reading, hiking, singing
Facts: - LVLMAXâs ballad and OST king. - Like Daero, famous for his âgapâ between his on and off stage personas. He has a dark and brooding persona on stage, but he has a fresh and simple aesthetic in his everyday life. - Heâs very serious at all times and is often the unwilling âstraight manâ on variety. - Suffered a lot of trauma during LVLMAXâs boom era because of sasaengs who broke into their dorms and stole his personal belongings and antis who constantly sent him threatening messages and one who almost killed him by cutting the brakes of his car. - Ideal type at debut: Someone who looks cool on the outside but is innocent and kind on the inside. Ideal type now: Someone who has their own career and family so isnât worried about being together all the time.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Because of his traumatic experiences with sasaengs and antis, heâs become very suspicious of everyone he meets and is paranoid whenever heâs in public. Because of this behaviour, heâs also become known as someone whoâs very cold to fans.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark: 10 Hidden Details Everyone Completely Missed
Generations' worth of kids were scared and terrified by the books in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series, which was an anthology of creepy tales that were perfect for a Halloween reading or a good scare. The legacy of these books was felt in this yearâs adaptation, which weaves a select number of stories into a period piece set near the end of the 60s.
Directed by AndrĂ© Ăvredal of Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe fame, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is filled with references not just to its famous source material but to many other facets of the horror genre. From tributes to hidden details from the pages, here are 10 details you may have missed while watching Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
RELATED:Â 10 Best Monster Movies Of All Time, Ranked
10 The Movie Features The Hearse Song
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has an appropriately haunting score, with each ghost getting a unique piece composed for them. A notable one is the ominous music that Sarah and Lou Louâs music box plays, which, unlike the other tunes, is a pre-existing song.
The musical boxâs song is an arrangement of The Hearse Song, which was also featured as a poem in the original books. The melancholic song, which describes what happens to a corpse in grim detail, is actually a World War I dirge commonly sung by American and British soldiers.

9 References to Classic Horror Movies
Set in 1968, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark pays tribute to the horror movies of the time that defined the genre today. The most prominent homage is to George A. Romeroâs Night of the Living Dead, a classic thatâs featured in a drive-in theater.
Additionally, Stella is shown to be a horror nut who especially loves the horror movies released in the â50s. Some examples include Beast from Haunted Cave, Frankensteinâs Daughter, Indestructible Man, and Mesa of Lost Womenâall of which are shown through their original posters in her room.
8 Stephen Gammellâs Art
Aside from the spooky stories written by Alvin Schwartz, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is best known for Stephen Gammell's accompanying art. To perfectly capture the booksâ aura of dread, the filmmakers too great effort in bringing Gammell's haunting illustrations to life.
This is best seen through Harold and the Pale Lady, who are visually accurate to their printed counterparts. A notable change is the Big Toe woman, whose face was based on the iconic ghostly visage featured in the story The Haunted House.

7 The Other Stories
When Stella flips through Sarahâs book, she skips a couple of stories that were written before the events of the movie. Some of these stories can be read in the books that inspired the movie, and theyâre presumably being saved for future installments.
These other stories include The Attic, Catâs Paw, Stranger, and The Wendigo. In the movie, itâs hinted that each of these tales actually narrates the dark fates that befell each of the Bellows familyâs members, who all imprisoned Sarah within the house to hide their corruption and keep their wealth.
6 Sarahâs Book Was Based on The One In Panâs Labyrinth
Sarahâs book is an ancient tome that writes stories by itself, possibly possessed by her spirit or at least empowered by a supernatural presence. If the bookâs function and appearance look familiar, thatâs because it was inspired by the one seen in Panâs Labyrinth.
Called The Book of Crossroads, the book is given to Ofelia by Faun. In it, Ofelia finds three tasks that she must accomplish to reclaim her title as princess of the underground fairy kingdom. Like Sarahâs book, The Book of Crossroads writes its own text although less ominously.
5 Stellaâs Dad Is Hank Schrader
Stellaâs father is Deputy Roy Nicholls, a good man whoâs burdened by past mistakes and tragedies. Heâs portrayed by Dean Norris, who is best known for playing Walter Whiteâs law-abiding foil and caring brother-in-law Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad.
Ever since his career-making role as a DEA agent, Norris has been consistently cast as a figure of law enforcement. Some notable examples include his role as Col. Richard Williams in The Big Bang Theory, Det. Kevin Raines in the Death Wish remake, and the abusive Glenn Sickleman in the tonally confusing The Book of Henry.
4 The Demogorgon Is Harold and the Pale Lady
Both the scarecrow Harold and the Pale Lady were portrayed by stuntman/choreographer Mark Steger, who is best known for portraying the Demogorgon in Stranger Things. This would explain these ghostsâ creepy and uncanny movements, which could only be brought to life by the guy who did a good job of scaring Dungeons & Dragons-loving kids.
Stegerâs other credits include the sentient art installation Hoboman in Velvet Buzzsaw, the elusive Bigfoot in The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot, and a Critter in Critters: A New Binge.
RELATED:Â 10 Things People Missed In Stranger Things 3
3 Slender Man is The Big Toe Woman
The Big Toe Woman is easily recognizable for her unnatural height, which is only possible thanks to Slender Man actor Javier Botet. Botet actually has Marfan Syndromeâa rare genetic disorder that makes a patientâs body unnaturally thin and tall, which he used to make his name known in the filmmaking business.
Botetâs other famous works include three ghosts in del Toroâs Crimson Peak, the eponymous and monstrous Mama in Mama (which was produced by del Toro), and the diseased hobo in It who wants to barf on Eddie.
2 The Jangly Man Symbolizes War Injuries
True to his story, The Jangly Man is an amalgamation of different stories from the original books. One specific example is Me Tie Dought-ty Walker, which features a talking severed head.
According to the filmmakers, The Jangly Man was meant to be a horrific mess of dismembered limbs, metaphorically representing those severely disfigured by the Vietnam War. Since the filmmakers wanted to limit the CGI, The Jangly Man instead had a regular pair of arms and legs that twisted in ways they shouldnât. The Jangly Man is portrayed by real-life contortionist Troy Jones, who famously joined Americaâs Got Talent.
1 The Asylum Is A Real Place
Desperate for answers, Stella and her friends go to the Pennhurst Hospital to find out what really happened to Sarah. The hospital where Chuck disappears isnât just a haunting set-piece in the movie, but a real one as well.
The real Pennhurst State School and Hospital was a controversial asylum in Pennsylvania. It was closed in 1987 after the staffsâ abusive behavior was exposed, but not before its history of eugenics, segregation, and other inhumane practices were made public. Today, some buildings have been torn down, while most of it remains open as a haunted house exhibit for tourists.

Martin Lawrence: i suoi film
1. Ha recitato in celebri lungometraggi. Negli anni seguenti recita in La linea sottile tra odio e amore (1996), Life (1999), Da ladro a poliziotto (1999), Big Mama (2000) e Bad Boys II (2003). Tra gli ultimi film interpretati dallâattore si annoverano FBI: Operazione tata (2006), Svalvolati on the road (2007), In viaggio per il college (2008), Il funerale Ăš servito (2010) e Big Mama â Tale padre, tale figlio (2011). Nel 2019 lâattore torna a recitare al cinema nei film The Beach Bum (2019) e Bad Boys for Life (2020), nuovo capitolo della trilogia comedy-action.

5. Ha avuto problemi di salute. Mentre si preparava per le riprese del film Big Mama, lâattore decise di fare una corsa per mantenersi in movimento. A salvarlo fu lâintervento tempestivo dei medici.
Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys
Martin Lawrence in Big Mama

TOP 5 the most famous comics.
1) Batman - The Dark Knight Returns (DC Comics)
Batman The Dark Knight Returns made almost every single "Best of" list I used. Consistently it was in the top five of every list out there and often at number one. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns was a 1986 four-issue miniseries by Frank Miller, illustrated also by Miller and Klaus Janson, and published by DC Comics.
2) The Sandman (DC Comics / Vertigo)
Dark fantasy, horror, surrealism- all these styles come together in the critically acclaimed The Sandman series from Vertigo Comics (a sub-imprint of DC Comics). Â The Sandman was written by Neil Gaiman. Its artists included Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel, and Michael Zulli, with lettering by Todd Klein and covers by Dave McKean.
3) Watchmen (DC Comics)
No surprise here. Â Watchmen is either at or near the top of every single "Best of comics" list. Â It is the best selling graphic novel in comic book history and spun off a major motion picture. Watchmen was a graphic novel published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987.
4) Kingdom Come (DC Comics)
This was my personal pick for number one as I enjoyed DC Comic's Kingdom Come far more than Dark Knight Returns, The Sandman, or Watchmen. Â Kingdom Come was a four-issue mini-series published in 1996 by DC Comics under their Elseworlds imprint. It was written by Mark Waid and Alex Ross and painted by Ross.
5) Fables (Vertigo)
Fables was a comic book series created by Bill Willingham and published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint. Willingham served as sole writer for its entirety, with Mark Buckingham penciling more than 110 issues. Fables was launched in July 2002, and concluded in July 2015.
TECHNOLOGY: Positive and Negatives things.
The simplest form of technology is the development and use of basic tools. The prehistoric discovery of how to control fire and the later Neolithic Revolution increased the available sources of food, and the invention of the wheel helped humans to travel in and control their environment. Developments in historic times, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale.
Technology has many effects. It has helped develop more advanced economies (including today's global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Many technological processes produce unwanted by-products known as pollutionand deplete natural resources to the detriment of Earth's environment. Innovations have always influenced the values of a society and raised new questions of the ethics of technology. Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, and the challenges of bioethics.
Philosophical debates have arisen over the use of technology, with disagreements over whether technology improves the human condition or worsens it. Neo-Luddism, anarcho-primitivism, and similar reactionary movements criticize the pervasiveness of technology, arguing that it harms the environment and alienates people; proponents of ideologies such as transhumanism and techno-progressivism view continued technological progress as beneficial to society and the human condition.

TOP 5 COMMOM COMPUTER PROBLEMS AND SOLUTION:
1. Computer speed and performance is diminished.
One of the things that computer owners usually notice this. There are several reasons why it happens to your computer. Lack of maintenance, fragmented data, corrupted registry, spyware and unnecessary burden on computer programs and services can certainly affect your computer speed and performance. Manage your programs and cleaning the registry can easily increase your computer's performance up to 30%.
2. Computer system freezes and blue screens of death.
You have to do some serious diagnostic procedures to effectively know the problem with your computer. Computer virus or spyware might be some reason why this happens on your computer. Update your anti-spyware immediately to avoid such problems and thoroughly scan your computer to see if it has any viruses or spywares. If you find that your computer is free of spyware, then update your hardware drive is the next step. Hardware-drive makes it easier for your computer to communicate with other hardware components. Without an updated driver CPU locks up and can cause problems when you use your computer. If it does not work try to increase your computer memory to avoid computer freezes. By increasing the RAM you get more use your computer's computing power.
3. Computer stops at reboot again and again.
This kind of problem is usually associated with hardware problem. Faulty power supply is usually the cause of this problem. Dirty or defective fan is another reason why your computer is rebooting spontaneously. When your computer tries to cool itself when the fan is faulty it automatically shuts off. Dust has accumulated in your computer that can capture the heat inside, making it warmer. What you need to do is clean the fan and make sure it runs properly. Do not forget to check your power supply.
4. Sounds and vibrations.
This one is almost certain that you have a hardware problem. High frequency noise can be caused by electronic components. Whatever the reason, you conduct a small study. Unplug your computer and remove the case and run the computer to discover the origin of noise. If a loose wire or bad fan is what makes the noise so it may be time to call a computer tech to help you with your problem.
5. Your browser start page has changed.
It is known as "high-jacking", which is also caused by a spyware is installed on your system. The spyware on your computer has installed a javascript in your web browser, which tells your browser to change settings, thus changing the default homepage in your browser. What you can do is to run an anti-virus or spyware program to remove spyware from your computer.
All the problems stated in this article can be avoided easily by simply maintain your computer. 2017 NFL Draft offensive line rankings: A bad year for blockers
Ryan Ramcyzk is the draftâs best tackle but may not be a top 10 pick.
In most years offensive line rankings would be broken down by position. But with it being a down year for tackles, guards and centers we combined them all into one. Suffice to say, itâs not a good year to need an offensive lineman in the NFL draft.
Unless Wisconsin Ryan Ramczyk goes higher than expected, this could be the first year since 1987 where an offensive tackle doesnât get taken in the first 15 picks. The positional value might push him up, but otherwise he grades out as more of a player in the 20s. Thatâs not a huge knock on Ramczyk. Heâs a good player who just happens to not be elite in any particular area and his experience is limited.
The same can be said for Utahâs Garrett Bolles. He offers a lot, especially as a pass blocker, but he played just a season at Utah and will be 25 as a rookie. Alabamaâs Cam Robins should be the top tackle, but he never developed as a pass blocker as expected.
There are two guards this year â Forrest Lamp of Western Kentucky and Dan Feeney of Indiana â who should be top 50 picks. Lamp is a lock for the first round, in fact. But after them, the talent at guard is thin. The same can be said for center. Ohio Stateâs Pat Elflein is the clear stand out player, but itâs hard to get excited about much after him.
OFFENSIVE TACKLE
1. Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
Meet the latest Wisconsin blocking product. As is the case with most Badgers offensive linemen, Ramczyk enters the NFL with sound technique both with his hands and feet. In pass protection Ramczyk has quick enough feet to slide out and take care of speed rushers. He neutralized future first-round pick Arden Key of LSU, who is as speed of a speed rusher as youâll find. Against power rushers Ramczyk does a good job of maintaining his balance and keeping his feet under him. He shuffles his feet better than any blocker in this class and it helps him mirror pass rushers on the outside. Spin moves just donât seem to work on Ramczyk at all.
In the run game, Ramczyk plays with good power and keeps his head up when contact is initiated. Many blockers lower their head and lose sight of the defender. Ramczyk is comfortable staying in his area and letting run stoppers come to him, but he can also get out and move. Started just a season at Wisconsin. Suffered a torn labrum in his hip that kept him out of offseason workouts.
2. Garrett Bolles, OT, Utah
Bolles is the most athletic offensive lineman in this yearâs draft, and he combines that with a nasty demeanor. Those traits are what makes him not only a first-round pick but a player who should start straight away as a rookie. Bolles is quick to get into his set and he has the footwork of a skill position player. A big plodding lineman he is not. Bolles uses his athleticism to neutralize speed on the edge, stunts to the inside and to pick up late blitzes. As a pass blocker heâs as pro ready as you can get.
At the NFL Scouting Combine Bolles said he wants to be a ânasty prickâ and thatâs a good way to describe him as a run blocker. On run plays heâll drive opponents backward and finish. Bolles will block through the whistle and donât be shocked when he gets into fights on the field because he gets under the skin of defenders. The bad with Bolles is lack of experience with just a year at an FBS school and his age (heâll be 25 as a rookie).
3. Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
Although heâs not quite as big, Robinsonâs playing style is similar in many ways to former Crimson Tide blocker D.J. Fluker. Robinson is a physical offensive tackle who started three seasons at left tackle for Alabama. There he utilized his power and physical blocking style to engulf defenders and take them out of players. Power rushers who have little more than a bull rush are easy targets for Robinson. Speed can give Robinson trouble. He doesnât always maintain a good base and when a speed rusher can catch him off balance, Robinson can be run around.
If you watch him against Myles Garret â the draftâs top player â youâd think Robinson would be a top five pick. However, his inconsistency as a pass blocker is holding him back. Thereâs enough to develop with him to think he can be a left tackle in the NFL if he pushes himself.
4. Dion Dawkins, OT/G, Temple
Some teams will be considering Dawkins a guard while others will leave him at offensive tackle where he started 39 games for Temple. Dawkins is a solid athlete with long arms, so Iâm keeping him at tackle. Against speed rushers Dawkins shows a good kick slide to stop speed players and is comfortable in space without any help blocks. Dawkinsâ footwork is good. Where he needs to work is his hands. He can be all over the place with his hands and needs to tighten up his technique.
5. Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy
If teams are looking for a fleet-of-foot blocker who will fit in a zone system, itâs Garcia. He moves freely when going laterally and maintains his balance better than most while on the move. He can mirror edge rushers nicely and has the quickness to engage and not let them past him. When a play works back to the inside his foot quickness takes over to put him in good position. Garcia may not be a great fit in a power run system because heâs more of a finesse blocker.
6. Taylor Moton, OT, Western Michigan
Thereâs value in the right tackle, and Moton should show it on draft weekend. Starting the majority of 39 of his 52 starts at right tackle, Moton is a solid athlete who can be a devastating run blocker. He plays with a lot of power and will simply stonewall defenders. Heâs probably going to stay on the right side because his kickslide in pass protection can leave him susceptible to quick inside moves. Moton will at times be caught off balance, which neutralizes his power.
Best of the rest:
7. Roderick Johnson, OT, Florida State
8. Adam Bisnowaty, OT, Pittsburgh
9. Julieân Davenport, OT, Bucknell
10. Avery Gennesy, OT, Texas A&M
11. Zach Banner, OT, Southern California
12. Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA
13. Erik Magnuson, OT, Michigan
14. Dan Skipper, OT, Arkansas
15. Justin Senior, OT, Mississippi State
16. Collin Buchanan, OT, Miami (Ohio)
GUARD
1. Forrest Lamp, G/OT, Western Kentucky
Get your Zack Martin and Joel Bitonio comparisons ready. Like those two Lamp will make the transition from experienced college left tackle to NFL guard. The only thing pushing Lamp inside is shorter than ideal arm length. Lamp is a technically perfect blocker. That especially shows in the run game where he knows how to get low and use leverage and power to his advantage. Has a really good punch to jolt defenders backward in the run game.
At left tackle Lamps showed heâs a good athlete for the position. He handled speed rushers pretty well thanks to a quick kick slide that helps him counter not only outside speed but rushers who like to spin inside. Lamp has quick feet to shuffle around and maintains his balance on contact. As a pro heâll have to get used to blocking in tighter space and could get a little better as a drive blocker in the run game.
2. Dan Feeney, G, Indiana
Although he doesnât have a lot of experience on the left side, Feeney offers much of the same as Lamp. Playing the majority of his college career at right guard, Feeney is a powerful blocker who has good handwork. Also like Lamp he knows how to get low in his set and get the proper body positioning to get underneath defenders. Feeney plays with a good mean streak and can get physical in the run game. Heâs a good zone blocker thanks to his quick feet and ability to read and understand proper angles.
3. Dorian Johnson, G, Pittsburgh
Thereâs just something to like about no-nonsense, consistent blockers. Thatâs Johnson. Starting 42 games mostly at left guard for Pittsburgh, Johnson was consistently very good and has the power and length teams covet in a guard. If you want a drive blocker in a power scheme, Johnson is your man. He maintains a good base and when he gets his hands latched on and his feet moving Johnson can obliterate defensive tackles. He can get out on the move fairly well, but his aggressive playing style can get the better of him when he targets a defender in space.
Best of the rest:
4. Nico Siragusa, G, San Diego State
5. Damien Mama, G, Southern California
6. Isaac Asiata, G, Utah7. Danny Isidora, G, Miami
8. Jermaine Eluemunor, G, Texas A&M
9. Jordan Morgan, G, Kutztown
10. Kyle Kalis, G, Michigan
CENTER
1. Pat Elflein, C/G, Ohio State
Elflein started 42 games at Ohio State, and took over the coveted center spot as a senior. As a pro Elflein should make an immediate impact as a starter at either position. At just under 6â3 and 303 pounds, Elflein has the build of an interior blocker. Heâs not too tall that he loses leverage but he has good enough length to keep defenders out of his pads.
The first thing you notice with Elflein is how aggressive he is with his hands. A former wrestler, Elflein can use his upper body strength to push defenders around and has a nasty demeanor to drive tackles into the ground. As a run blocker Elflein can handle himself in one-on-one situations and should immediately boost a teamâs play in that area. Speed will sometimes give him an issue because Elfleinâs footwork is good but not great. If he wants to stay at center Elflein will have to be more consistent with his snaps. Coaches will love Elfleinâs aggressive nature and leadership. Called the line protections at Ohio State. Won the Rimington Trophy in 2016 as college footballâs top center.
2. Ethan Pocic, C, LSU
At 6â6 and 310 pounds, Pocic would be one of the taller centers in the NFL if the stays at the position. His height will cause Pocic to lose some leverage battles and he doesnât always stay low when he gets moving. Started 27 games at center at LSU but also has experience at guard and tackle. Some teams may look at Pocic as a versatile player who can line up anywhere on the line.
Pocic is an easy mover in space and will target and block defenders on the second level. His ability to change direction and move makes him scheme versatile. He plays with good power and when he engages a block he can be hard to shake. Plays with good patience and doesnât get overaggressive as a run blocker. Made the line calls at LSU and voted a team captain.
Best of the rest:
3. Tyler Orlosky, C, West Virginia
4. Jon Toth, C, Kentucky
5. Chad Wheeler, C, Southern California
6. Chase Roullier, C, Wyoming

ND:Â I think what stands out most is the specific gaps in our resumes, mostly in the early years. So it's easy to latch onto sentimental favorites (The Brave Little Toaster, Wayne's World, Dogma) and "prestigious" films I haven't seen in years and probably havenât age well (Rain Man, Good Will Hunting). My movie-watching intake has gone up considerably as Iâve gotten older, allowing me to explore some classics well after the fact to up my credibility ever so slightly.
I'm as surprised as anyone to see the Coen Brothers as the most represented on my list with three films (as well as yours with four), edging out Richard Linklater, Alfonso Cuaron and Paul Thomas Anderson with two apiece. I routinely try to knock Coens down a peg, but when they hit, they are masters. Inside Llewyn Davis is their crowning achievement if you ask me, melding the best of their darkest and lightest, with a powerhouse performance from Oscar Isaac to boot -- and the songs! I could watch that movie every day.
ND: Inside Llewyn Davis is so good that it managed to come out on top in my most contested year, 2013. Before Midnight and Mud are two of my all-time favorites. The former was easier to leave off with Before Sunrise's inclusion -- it's my least favorite of the trilogy, but 1995 had a clearer path than 2013 or 2004 (Before Sunset). Mud's exclusion was even more painful, leaving my list McConaughey-less
JI: I thank you for my Inside Llewyn Davis inclusion. You raved about that movie during our time at The Sports Network and it pushed me to watch it much sooner than I probably would have before. I agree with you to an extent about the Coens. I don't think they're overrated but when they miss its like Ryan Howard in the 2010 NLCS*, see: The Ladykillers and Hail, Caesar!.
*(Editorâs Note: I believe you mean the 2011 NLDS loss to the Cardinals, where Howard went 2-for-19 (.105) and ended the series with a blown-out Achilles tendon aka the downfall of the Philadelphia Phillies dynasty.)
ND: Our lists aren't so different. You have even more black comedies than me, with the four Coens, a handful of Tarantino, even Casino, Adaptation, Birdman and The Nice Guys would qualify with their mix of light and dark. I think it's important to bring levity to most dramas (though my selections of Children of Men, 21 Grams, and the works of PT Anderson run contrary), and you seem to agree. Enlighten me on your process, good man.
JI: I definitely agree with your first point in there being gaps in knowledge, but for me itâs more spotty than just one era. I found myself sometimes in the mid-2000s not having a real standout, but you aren't wrong about some movies having very strong sentimental value. Wayne's World still holds up though!Â
JI: Like you, my "good" movie intake has gone up as I've gotten older. Iâve developed my own taste for movies and can now afford to go see what I want. I recently saw Rain Man for the first time and while it wasn't bad, I'd agree it doesn't really hold up.
Brief aside, can we talk about Jim Carrey's 1994? Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask. Dude was an absolute fireball that year.
ND: Jim Carrey was as integral part of my childhood as well. My brother and I used to recite Dumb and Dumber dialogue on car rides to the shore (I was Harry more often than not). But 1994 was never not going to be Pulp Fiction. It's become a cliche at this point -- film people clinging to Pulp Fiction like gospel -- but it's no exaggeration so say that discovering it changed my cinema-going outlook forever.
JI: My process was to not just choose the best in terms of critical acclaim to trumpet myself up and say "look how well versed in film I am,â but to choose movies I could actually defend as being one of my favorites. I also excluded children's or Disney movies because they lean too heavily on sentimentality and felt like they'd be a crutch. This is why a movie like Billy Madison is on my Honorable Mention list. I can recite that movie nearly line-for-line.Â
ND: So no to Billy Madison, but yes to Big Daddy?
JI:Â 1999 was just one of those years that had a bigger gap than 1995. I got halfway through Fight Club and was bored to tears, and I love Ed Norton (your long-lost brother) and Brad Pitt but I just didn't see what everyone else does. I've only seen The Matrix once and same with The Insider. Â And probably the two biggest omissions from that year are The Sixth Sense and The Hurricane. All those factors considered, I couldn't in good faith put a movie I've only seen once above one I've seen two dozen times. Also, I'm semi acquaintances with Peter Dante now that I'm an LA hot shot (I gagged just typing that) and his "They're not scrawny, they're nice," line gets me every time.
Maybe the hardest part for me was not finding space for a PT Anderson movie, with There Will be Blood losing a close 2007 race to Hot Fuzz, or a true Philip Seymour Hoffman movie, (The Big Lebowski doesn't count). Heâs likely my favorite actor of all time. I don't think I've seen a bad performance out of him and not being able to squeeze him in any year stings.
Only one Scorsese movie from you (Goodfellas) -- probably his second best behind Raging Bull -- and only two from me (Casino, Shutter Island). Heâs long been considered my favorite director but most of his best came out prior to my birth. Is this a similar issue for you, or do you not hold him in such high regard?
ND:Â Maybe the biggest catch with this project is the year arguably plays an even bigger role than the films themselves. So yes, I would never hesitate to put Scorsese in my top 3 favorite directors of all time, but I definitely prefer his pre-Goodfellas work (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Mean Streets) to his more recent films. Although The Departed gave Children of Men a run for its money in 2006, and The Wolf of Wall Street and Hugo made my top 10 lists in their respective years. I consider Casino to be B/B- material for Marty, though De Niro's suits suit game is elite.
I'm glad you made special mention of Philip Seymour Hoffman. We've really bonded over our love for him and I was surprised to see him shut out of your list. He's the primary reason why The Master outlasted a great 2012 field. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it gets even better as the years go on and will live on in the zeitgeist for decades. If you figure a way to live without serving a master, any master, then let the rest of us know, will you? For you'd be the first person in the history of the world.Â
JI: Along Came Polly was a consideration for me solely for PSH as the unforgettable Sandy Lyle.
ND: Long live PSH.
I think we both did a good job managing our sentimentality. I only have a few notable asterisks. It's been 25 years since I've watched The Brave Little Toaster, but all this time later, when I saw it listed among the 1987 films, I smiled. And in an otherwise terrible year for film (I know it's beyond your jurisdiction, youngin, but take a gander), that shit mattered the most to me. I will never apologize for 2011's The Muppets. There is preciously little in this world as important to me as the Muppets. I am forever indebted to Jason Segel for keeping their legacy alive in the spirit of Jim Henson's vision.
Can we talk about 2005, please? The consensus best pic is Brokeback Mountain, though I've regretfully never seen it. We both went with curveball selections: You with The Weatherman and me with The 40-Year-Old-Virgin. It's not my favorite Apatow production from that era (Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story stand tall above the rest), but its only real competition from 2005 was from Batman Begin and (yes, really) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
JI: 2005 was really rough. I'm a big Nic Cage fan and The Weatherman was kind of my default favorite. Coming off of a John Wick 2 high, I recently watched Constantine for the first time and considered selecting it just because of recency bias and it wasn't even very good. Batman Begins is really good but as time goes on, I feel like the Nolan Batman trilogy has become less rewatchable for some reason, and Batman is basically the only superhero movie I like. Keaton is a personal favorite for me so I can always watch his two Batman movies.
ND: I tend to agree with you about Nolan's Batman, though I think their lack of rewatchability is in no small part due to the superhero saturation of the past decade. The tropes and cliches that are getting beat into the ground now were created in Batman Begins, so it deserves a lot of credit for that. Anyway, neither of us picked a Batman film, so back to 2005 -- I remember liking The Weatherman! No one's had a more interesting career than Nic Cage. And he's still got the goods (see David Gordon Green's Joe).
JI:Â Cage definitely can still bring it, the problem is he's become such a joke to most people it feels like he can't break that persona even when he does get a really good role/performance like Joe.Â
ND:Â I'm ready for a Cage Renaissance. We can call it the CageWakening. Not as catchy as the McConaissance, I admit.
JI: Iâm dying for it.
JI: Along with you, I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, nor sadly have I seen Capote -- huge PSH gap for me -- so I was just kind of stuck on my choice. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, while good, just drags on too long, which I guess has become a common complaint against Apatow projects.
Fun note about the Muppets, when I was a little kid my mom took me to Muppet Treasure Island and we had to leave halfway through because it scared me too much. I was probably three at the time, so I feel this shouldn't be a ding against me here.
ND: Muppet Treasure Island is a trash movie anyway. Barely canon.
JI: What method did you use to find all the movies from each year? I went through Wikipedia Year in Film for each year and it led to some fun surprises along the way. It made me look at someone like Chris Evans and wonder where his career would be now without Captain America? I mean he had to the two Fantastic Four flops, The Perfect Score (Scar Jo and Darius Miles!) and Cellular, a movie I didnât even know existed.
ND:Â Don't forget the other Chris Evans' classic, 2009's Push, whose biggest claim to fame is getting Liongate to actually title a film Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire to avoid confusion.
JI: I didn't know Push existed either. Man, he better be thanking Marvel every single day.Â
ND: I too used good ole Wikipedia as my aid, though for my all-time favorites (Eternal Sunshine, In Bruges, Goodfellas), I plugged them in an left them there -- no use looking for anyone to dethrone them. I also looked at the lists of film critics I trust to maybe jog my memory on things I might have glossed over, which was the case for Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood For Love, one of my favorite recent discoveries that just happened to be released in a very weak year. And that got me thinking of other foreign films I love that might have been omitted on Wikipedia, like Eric Rohmer's A Summer's Tale. Iâm the first to admit that these are my token pretentious picks, but they are both lovely little talky films that find relatable drama in human emotional, which is my cinematic wheelhouse (see: Linklater).
ND: I need to hear the Paul story. A Pegg/Frost movie without Edgar Wright? I saw it and remember liking it fine but forgot all about it the minute I left the theater.
JI: Paul is a mix of a connection I have due to seeing a free early screening of it at Temple with our mutual friend Jason "Ball is Life" Quint and winning a poster at said screening and that 2011 is kind of a weak year. The year of The Artist! Also, I just really liked Paul's cast, Frost and Pegg are always great together along with Jason Bateman and Bill Hader and it just hit a lot of the right notes for me in an exceptionally weak year for truly outstanding movies.Â
ND: I mean, I picked The Muppets for 2011, so I can't knock an unconventional selection.
JI: Since its early into 2017, did you have any other real contenders for this year's movies or was it hands down Get Out? It was a very close race for me between Get Out and John Wick 2 but ultimately went John Wick 2 because its so rewatchable. I saw it opening weekend twice, back-to-back nights. Only other movie I've seen from this year is Kong: Skull Island, which was good but not close to the level of those two for me.
ND: I originally wasn't going to pick a 2017 movie for the same reason you mentioned: the sample size just isn't big enough yet. It's unlikely Get Out will be my favorite of the year when it's all said and done, but it definitely stands out in a typically weak January-March. Logan got some consideration; it plays more like a western than a superhero movie, and any departure from the comic book formula is welcomed. I enjoyed Kong just fine but it's still a ways off from "best." I have yet to hop aboard the John Wick bandwagon. I'm sure I'll enjoy the ride once I'm there.
You're successive screening of John Wick 2 reminded me of a similar experience from my childhood, coincidentally with another Keanu movie. I saw a matinee of Hardball with my grandfather one Saturday afternoon, only to find out afterwards that my friends were going to see it that night. I didn't even like it that much, but I didn't want to be left out either. I can't recall if I've ever gone for a rewatch on back-to-back nights, though the odds are strong it happened during one of my four theater viewings of the first Spider-Man. I was a strange teen.
JI:Â John Wick is a thrill ride you won't want to end. My situation with that was similar to yours with Hardball. Made plans for the Saturday showing with a friend but Friday afternoon another friend texted me wanting to go so I didn't want to flake on either and went twice. Did not regret my decision.
I got you beat! I saw the Spider-Man five times in theaters, which thinking about it now I don't know why I saw it that many times. I also saw Men in Black II five times in theaters thanks to my dad wanting to go that many times. Two very odd movies to see that many times.
ND: Who knew we had so many uber-specific things in common. I can feel our friendship growing by the minute.
JI: As we're winding down on our actual lists, what movies are you most looking forward to for the rest of the year? For me right now Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Last Jedi are at the top for me. Dunkirk could be interesting but its tough to get hyped over a movie with a tone like that, especially during July rather than the expected December release. The Dark Tower should be good especially with Elba and McConaughey, but I didn't read the books so I don't have a built in excitement for it like others likely will. A few other interesting ones should be the next Kingsman movie, I thought the first one was really fun and the new IT. I loved the TV miniseries as a kid and am interested to see how they can possibly top Tim Curry as Pennywise. And of course there's the usual slate of sequels coming this year. Did you know that Bad Moms is not only getting a sequel but a spin-off as well with Bad Dads, both coming out in 2017?
ND: As far as blockbusters go, Guardians and The Last Jedi shouldn't disappoint. I didn't love Rogue One but very much enjoyed The Force Awakens, and I trust Rian Johnson even more than J.J. Abrams to carry the torch. Blade Runner 2049 looks incredible -- Villeneuve can do no wrong. Dunkirk looks good, though I've been lukewarm on Nolan's recent efforts. I'm tempering my expectations for The Dark Tower, considering how rocky preproduction has been. It would be a shame to waste such a great cast. Despite Bad Moms earning me some valuable points in last summer's Fantasy Box Office League, I will not be indulging in their further money grabs.
Digging a little deeper, the trailer for Martin McDonagh's latest, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, just dropped and looks like a blast. It's been five years since our last McDonagh, and I'm hopeful this is more In Bruges than Seven Psychopaths (which I still liked).Â
ND: We're getting another Alex Garland/Oscar Isaac collaboration in Annihilation, and if it's anywhere near as good as Ex Machina, I'm all-in. Destin Daneil Cretton is releasing his long-awaited follow-up to 2012's outstanding Short Term 12 with The Glass Castle, also starring Brie Larson. And don't look now, but it looks like we're getting a Paul Thomas Anderson/Daniel Day-Lewis reunion next Oscar season. Huzzah.
JI: Ahh yes PTA and DDL reuniting for a movie about 50's era London fashion. I know it won't disappoint but so oddly specific.
ND: Is there anything else we need to discuss before wrapping up? Has this inspired you to catch up on any older flicks? I've got Brokeback Mountain and You Can Count on Me (Kenneth Lonergan's debut) queued up.Â
JI: Itâs definitely made me want to go back and fill in a bunch of holes. Possibly starting with rounding out my PSH gaps with Magnolia and Capote.
One final note from me, Jackie Brown is criminally underrated and my favorite QT movie. He says anyone of this mindset doesn't really like his movies because he didn't write and to that I say, you don't determine my taste, Quentin.
ND:Â Jackie Brown was on my 1997 shortlist for sure. Under-the-radar-great.
Thanks for indulging me, John. I'm happy to get out of my head every now and then when it comes to my writing. Things like this are a ton of fun.Â
JI: This was fun. Hopefully we can collaborate again for another discussion. Maybe a post summer look back at surprise hits, biggest flops and how I managed to win the box office pool two years in a row (hopefully). Â
