Perfume Longevity: Tips to Make Your Scent Last All Day
Wearing your favorite perfume for Men in the morning and having it fade in a few hours is frustrating. The longevity of a fragrance is influenced by many things, including how it is applied, the type of skin, and the environmental conditions. Read the Guide Tutorial on How to Maximize Your Perfume’s Staying Power so that you will smell good from morning till evening.
Understanding Perfume Longevity
Before we dive into the tips, it’s important to understand what contributes to perfume longevity. Perfume is made up of different layers of scents called notes, which evaporate at different rates:
Top Notes: These are the initial, light scents you smell right after applying perfume. They evaporate quickly, usually within 15 minutes to an hour.
Middle (Heart) Notes: These emerge after the top notes fade and form the fragrance's core. They can last from 3 to 6 hours.
Base Notes: These are the heaviest and longest-lasting scents. They can linger on the skin for 6 to 24 hours, sometimes even longer.
Tips for Applying and Maintaining Perfume
Apply to pulse points.
Areas with pulse points are where blood vessels are very close to the skin emitting heat which in turn allows for the diffusion of the fragrance, these areas are also called regions with a lot of energy pulsating:
Wrists
Behind the ears
Neck
Inner elbows
Behind the knees
To enhance its longevity, one can apply perfume on these points.
Moisturize Your Skin
The scent of perfume lasts longer if you have properly watered skin because, on dry skin, Most of the fragrance gets absorbed and diffused by the skin at a faster rate. This means that you can add less perfumed lotion under the fragrance to increase duration. Moisturizer whose oil helps hold Which perfume is best for Men in India? Perfume for a long time.
Use a Fragrance Primer
Fragrance Primers are specialized to be used by the skin before applying the Best perfume for Women. They act as a seal, which in turn helps in the retention of a fragrance on a person’s body for a long time.
Layer Your Scents
Layering is when you use different products of the same perfume line on yourself, such as shower gel, body lotion, and Eau de parfum. It creates a richer scent and makes the scent stay for longer. In a nutshell, one may have scented body wash first before applying any related lotion and then spraying some perfume.
Spray on Clothes and Hair
Clothes retain scents longer and better than the human body; Shower with your fragrance at a moderate distance on your dress & hair; However, mind delicate stuff & locks since there may be harmful alcohol in some perfumes.
Don’t Rub Your Wrists Together
If you rub your wrists together after applying the perfume, you will be breaking down the fragrance molecules which will make the scent disappear more quickly. Alternatively, allow the fragrance to dry by itself.
Store Perfume Properly
To maintain the quality of your Best perfume, you need to store it properly. Stash your scent in a cool dark place not accessible by direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. This way you maintain its fragrance as well as how long it will last.
Use a Perfume Atomizer
A perfume atomizer is a small, portable bottle that you can use to spray your favorite scent. Carrying around an atomizer enables you to refresh your cologne or scent whenever it wears off.
Factors That Affect Perfume Longevity
Skin Type
You may see that your skin type has a big impact on how long your perfume lasts. Oily skin will retain scent for longer when compared with people having a different type of skin, such as dry skin due to its tendency of sealing scents in its oils. Business; If you have skin that is not oily then make sure that it is moisturized before applying any scent or else its longevity might be completely reduced to zero.
Environment and Whether
Warm and humid environments can cause perfumes to last long. Perfumes stay for quite some time in moist warm conditions while they fade away rapidly in cold dry areas. Consider the prevailing weather conditions when applying perfume.
Fragrance Concentration
The concentration of perfume oils in a fragrance determines its longevity. Perfumes come in various concentrations, including:
Eau de Cologne (EDC): 2-5% perfume oil, lasts about 2 hours
Eau de Toilette (EDT): 5-15% perfume oil, lasts about 3-4 hours
Eau de Parfum (EDP): 15-20% perfume oil, lasts about 4-6 hours
Parfum/Extrait de Parfum: 20-30% perfume oil, lasts about 6-8 hours or more
Choosing a higher concentration can help you achieve a longer-lasting fragrance.
Fragrance Notes
The lasting power of a perfume partly depends on its fragrance notes. This is because the scent notes which are woody, spicy, or oriental tend to last longer as compared to lighter citrusy or floral ones. For those who like scents that will stay all day long, it is recommended that they choose perfumes containing heavier base ingredients such as sandalwood flower oils; rose extracts used too often in these products contain too little rose essence so they don’t produce enough aroma when sprayed. done
Personal Chemistry
Each person’s skin has a special chemistry that can make fragrances smell differently on people’s skin. Various things such as diet, hormones, or medicines can change the skin i.e. “These ingredients each have their scent on the skin which may be unique due to various reasons such as food habits, medical histories, etc “. You should try the perfume of your choice on your skin because you might be affected by it!
Conclusion
If you follow the tips presented here, you will always smell good all day because your favorite scent will remain on your body for long hours as long as it is the right type with which is used together good skin care suggestions and not too heavy but subtle notes except if combined improperly then some might fade away faster than others like rose petals in water.
If you love perfume or want your favorite fragrance to last longer, these simple tricks and ideas will enable you to appreciate your long-lasting fragrances in their entirety. Thus, be bold in putting them on, your scent will linger in people’s minds forevermore!

Perfume Application Tips: How to Layer & Make Your Fragrance Last Longer
Perfume has the unique ability to capture and awake our dearest memories of a cherished experience, place or a special someone. It can also turn you into focus of attention and let’s face it, we all want to smell great all day long. But often, we elegantly spritz a couple of drops of our favourite scent only to notice that it’s gone by noon or we douse ourselves in the perfume so everyone can smell it, even those on the other end of the city.
However, there are a few tricks that can help you get the most of your favourite fragrance without using the entire bottle in one day.
TIP: Go for a strong base note
Fragrance consists of top notes, heart notes and middle notes. Top notes are the initial scent you smell after spritzing your fragrance, and it tends to fades quickly; heart notes are the middle of the fragrance, often developing throughout the day, as these warm and wear the underlying scent you left is in the base notes, the heaviest scent that lingers the longest. Perfume with more prominent base notes will last longer than lighter fragrances with scents in the top notes category. one with prominent top notes. Base notes usually include balsamic or woody flavours, as well as spicy and leathery ones; they are the stronger ones. Citrus, floral and green scents have lighter base notes which are more volatile, therefore it will evaporate quicker.
TIP: Apply to your pulse points
Fragrance reacts to heat, so applying it to parts of the body that are likely to heat up during the day helps release the scent. Pulse points include neck, inner elbow, wrists and back of the knee.
TIP: Don’t rub
Try not rubbing your wrists together. Friction will cause the top notes to fade faster and the perfume won’t last as long. If you can’t spray the fragrance, then try to dab it on your skin really gently.
TIP: Prep your skin
Take a shower using a matching body wash. Perfume lasts longer when applied on clean skin. While the skin is still damp but after you towel dry, use your matching body lotion or an unscented variation (using a mismatched scent could result in an unpleasant fragrance). Moisturised skin will retain the fragrance for longer because lotion acts as a bind to help the scent stick to it. Think of it as a primer, just like when you’re doing your makeup. L’Occitane are known for their body products, they’re lightweight, hydrating and the beautiful scents linger on for hours. They often do boxes with matching body washes and body lotions which makes the layering even easier. It’s best to wait a few minutes before getting dressed, in order for the scent to not rub off but it will also prevent the fragrance from staining delicate clothes and jewellery. If you love luxurious scents, Jo Malone London is your best bet with a full range of scented body products. The fragrance of their colognes, body lotions and body washes lasts a really long time on the skin, so it’s worth investing in your favourite Jo Malone London line.
TIP: Don’t forget the hair
Spray your perfume on your hairbrush and run it through dry hair. Spraying it directly on your hair may cause damage because of the alcohol. If you’re still worried that the perfume may damage your hair, try using a hair fragrance, designed specifically for this and sometimes even including vitamins to keep your locks shiny and nourished. Jo Malone London provides hair mists in two of the brands popular scents: English Pear & Freesia and Wild Bluebell, the formulation leaves your hair looking glossy and feeling soft, thanks to the Argan Oil and Pro Vitamin B, added to the formula. The mist is fine and lightweight, so it won’t weigh down your hair while the subtle scent compliments your perfume.
TIP: Store your perfume properly
Many people store their scents in the bathroom which can actually be quite bad for them. Humidity, light and heat will break down the chemical compounds over time, resulting in changes in the potency of the fragrance. That’s why it’s best if you keep them in a cool, dry and dark place instead. It’s also a good idea to leave the bottle in its original box and try to keep it still. Shaking the bottle can allow air to infuse the perfume and shorten its lifespan.
TIP: Use every last drop
Don’t waste those last few drops. Instead, add them to unscented body lotion to make your favourite scent last even longer. Alternatively, spray tissue paper with your favourite fragrance and line your drawers to make your clothes smell amazing.

Chapter Fourteen
Sarah jostled with the mail as she entered their building, trying hard not to knock over the newest fresh plant currently adorning the entrance. They usually took it in turns to handle the post and whatever parcels the Supervisor had signed for that day but she was starting to feel a little short-changed as Shanna had consistently more post coming her way these days. Sarah realised she needed to get out more. Carting everything up the stairs was starting to become its own workout. Today’s treasures involved two Nasty Gal packages, a package from Pottery Barn, a box from Amazon, and what appeared to be a free sample of a Louis Vuitton fragrance. Sarah might just keep that last one to herself.
Jocelyn had sent another care package of sorts her way but it only served to remind Sarah that she had not called her folks in over a week. Ever since the accident, Jocelyn had been so consumed with worry that she had taken to sending Sarah articles ripped form magazines and gift cards for relaxation therapies. Despite Sarah’s many protests to the contrary, Jocelyn was sure Sarah was struggling with some form of undiagnosed PTSD. She’d read about it in a magazine. “If affects upwards of half a million American every year, honey.”
After successfully dodging the neighbour’s schnauzer, she eventually reached their floor and was just about to turn her key in the lock when the door swung wide open. Before she had time to react, she was brought face to face with a stressed-out Shanna, hair dripping wet from a shower. Not her favourite Shanna it had to be said. Not even in the Top Ten.
She grabbed Sarah by both shoulders. “I don’t know what I’m going to wear, Sarah! I’ve got less than an hour!”
“And hello to you, too!” Sarah smiled broadly, almost comically so, before Shanna lowered her head in embarrassment and moved out of the way so Sarah could physically get into her own home. She held the packages up. “Maybe there is something in here?”
Shanna shook her head. “No, they’re more summery. More formal.” She’d started fluttering around Sarah in a panic. “Do you still have that leather midi skirt? Do you think I could fit into it?”
“Uhh yeh it’s in the back of my closet somewhere.” she remembered. “Might be a bit warm, though? What are you gonna wear with it?”
“Well it’s a punky kind of bar, think it has live music and stuff so I thought maybe that Rolling Stones t-shirt and the maroon boots? Keep my hair down and casual?”
“So basically all of my clothes?” Sarah retorted. Shanna pressed her hands together in prayer and gave her the best pitiful smile she could manage, one she knew Sarah couldn’t resist. Shanna seemed to genuinely like this guy and if this guy was as charming and as smart as she told her he was, Sarah was sure she would like him, too. Hell, he’d be best friends with Scott and Chris in no time so long as he enjoyed football, Sam Adams, and didn’t put points on Shanna’s licence.
“Give me five minutes and I’ll see what I can pull together. Do you wanna borrow that heart necklace of mine? If you’re wearing your hair down, it’s probably best you avoid wearing earrings unless you want me to cut you out of them again.” Sarah shouted as she walked into her room unaware that Shanna had followed her closely behind.
“Oh god I hadn’t even thought that far. You know what, I might just cancel. This is just too much right now and I’m not even sure if he really likes me as anything more than a friend.” She feigned a dramatic flop onto Sarah’s bed, one arm landing across her forehead. Sarah delved through her closet to locate the desired items. If Shanna was threatening to cancel the date already, it must be serious.
“How many of you are going to this club?” Sarah asked, emerging from the closet doorway.
“Don’t know. Think three or four from my department and another couple from his?” she responded, hopelessness evident in her voice. Shanna never did well with vagueness where guys were concerned; everything had to be black and white with her.
“Come on, you’ve still got time.” Sarah encouraged as she carried some clothes and a couple of pairs of boots towards the bed. “Dry your hair and we’ll figure this out, OK?”
“Have I told you how much I love you lately?” Shanna pouted and Sarah tried to shrug off the pit growing in her stomach from her words. Shanna used every ounce of energy she could muster to get up and drag herself back into the bathroom leaving Sarah shaking her head.
It was only a rare occasion when Shanna took less time getting ready in the bathroom. Sarah had fond memories of shouting through the door back when they were at college and deciding to move in together required a complete 180 degree shift in her expectations. Still, in less than half an hour, here she emerged fully dressed, primer and foundation applied, and hair dried accordingly. It was a miracle of epic proportions and if she hadn’t shoved some false eyelashes into Sarah’s hand, Sarah would have snapped a photograph to send to the family as evidence that their little girl was growing up.
Thanks to her professional, steady hand, Sarah was always the eyelash-fixer among their group. While fixing a couple of lashes to the corners of her eyes, Sarah’s phone buzzed. It buzzed a couple more times in quick succession and she would have managed to ignore it had it not been for Shanna’a roving eye.
“Looks like someone wants you.” she murmured, trying her hardest not to move as Sarah held the glued lash in place with some tweezers.
“It’ll just be Audrey probably.” Sarah responded in no rush to check for herself, keeping a firm hold on what she was doing.
Shanna tried glancing to her side one more time to catch who it was but couldn’t quite make it out. It buzzed again. “I’d hate for you to miss out on a date with Greg on account of helping piece my pathetic love life together. Oooh maybe we could double-date!”
Shanna’s exclaim nearly caused Sarah to lose her grip on the tweezers but a sharp intake of breath convinced Shanna to give up the inquisition. “Sorry. Sorry.” she held her hands up as an apology before feeling Sarah’s hands relax as she moved across to the other eye.
Sarah was pleased to see Shanna eventually leave their apartment. Not because she wanted the peace particularly but just because it was nice to see her get excited over a guy that wasn’t Ben. She looked gorgeous, too. Sarah was quite proud of her work. If it wasn’t to be a proper date, it definitely would be after tonight. Robbie would be an absolute fool to miss out.
It was only when she slumped dow onto the couch and spent the next hour or so flicking through television channels that she remembered her phone had buzzed earlier on. She reluctantly peeled herself off the sofa and retrieved it from where it had originally landed on her bedside table. Honestly, it was like Shanna had taught her nothing.
From just two messages, Chris had attempted some mild flirtation with her before asking her if she knew what in God’s Name Penhaligon’s was.
Sarah 8.19pm: Perfume I think. Pretty old school brand. Why?
Chris 8.23pm: Mom wants it for her birthday. Never heard of it before. Scott thought it might be some kind of scarf??
She googled the name to make sure. Last thing she wanted was to end up ruining Lisa’s birthday celebrations with a present she absolutely did not want. Her birthday was something she took with increasing seriousness as each year passed by and her children and grandchildren grew older in front of her eyes. There was always a party of sorts, a massive cake, perhaps a theme, and a “suggestion list” for possible gifts. Well, they say “suggestion” but rarely did anyone dare deviate from “the list”. Sarah hadn’t yet considered buying a present but if Chris was already looking, she would no doubt need to catch up.
Sarah 8.34pm: Yep, pretty certain it’s a perfume. Pretty pricey. Good shout.
Sarah started scanning through her phone as another couple of messages caught her eye, some she had accidentally missed from earlier in the day. One from Audrey. One from Greg that she was not expecting.
Greg 7.02pm: Great news! 29th is set up. All you need to do is say the word! Don’t know how long I can hold the spot open so let me know as soon as you can. Have a great evening x
It took her a moment to register what he was talking about.
Chris 8.37pm: Cool THX What are you wearing??
Sarah stared down at the phone. She felt light-headed. There was far too much going on for this time of the day. She wiped at her forehead with her sweater sleeve and took a deep breath.
Sarah 8.41pm: You wouldn’t be interested lol
Chris 8.42pm: try me..........
He had a surprising habit these days of cheering her up.
Sarah 8.46pm: Nah I look a mess. Get out while you can.
Her phone started ringing almost as soon as she’d pressed ‘send’, Chris’ name flashing on her screen. She contemplated not answering now that her mood had taken a turn but she knew he would work out something was wrong and immediately dive over.
“Hey,” she answered, trying for a jovial tone but coming up just south of delirious.
“Hey you,” he smiled through the phone, happy to hear her voice. “In all the years I have known you, Bernette, not once would I describe you as looking like a mess.”
She laughed down the line. She made the right decision.
“...you are far too cute to ever be a mess. Do you know that? Like, I can already picture you with your sweats on, your hair tied up, soft skin...” he trailed off with a low sigh that she was sure was filthier than he intended it to be. “Man, that really does something to me.”
“You really know how to charm a girl. Have you figured this Penhaligon’s thing out yet? Was I right?”
“Don’t change the subject.”
She laughed again. “Sorry. Sorry. I’m not great with flirting over the phone. You should know that by now.”
“Then do it with me in person.” he proposed as if it was the easiest solution in the world. As if she wasn’t going to be distracted with thoughts of work and studies enough to not focus on him entirely. And he didn’t deserve to be second best.
It would have been all too easy to allow him to come over. Forget about overthinking things again. There truly was no one better at making her feel good about herself these days. Like, honest, through-the-bone good about herself, whatever that entailed. Goosebumps raised on her skin at the thought.
“I’m pretty whacked to be honest and...”
“What’s going on? Are you feeling alright?” he asked, concern evident in his tone. Whatever he had been pottering about with in the background had stopped all of a sudden.
“Yes! Yeh, I’m fine. Just...I dunno, boring. Plus, it’s Friday night! You should be out with the guys or whatever. Shan said Scott is having issues with Zach again. Is he OK?”
He laughed at her second lame attempt to deflect. He knew something was going on and he knew she knew he wouldn’t give up easily.
“Is Shanna there?” he asked.
“No, she went out with some friends.”
“So why don’t you ask me to come over and I’ll make you feel better than fine?”
She was lucky she was sat down or that her legs were crossed underneath her as she lounged on the couch, her back against the arm rest. His tone was causing her to feel things she shouldn’t be focussing on. What must it feel like to always be confident of your effect on people?
“Do you wanna come over?” she asked, treading lightly, not entirely anxious should he decline.
“I’ll be there in twenty.” He ended the call almost as abruptly as he had dialled it.
She remained where she sat for a moment, Greg’s text message still lighting up her screen. She wasn’t expecting for things to suddenly be so easy for her and it was strange how opening herself up to more possibilities could cause her to feel so immobile.
She would need to move at some point and as a helpless and as confused as she now felt, she knew it would look far too obvious to Chris if she bid to make herself up. She also didn’t really have the energy to do so. Lord, Chris really should have taken the out when he had the chance.
“Have I just walked into a teenage girl’s bedroom?” Chris asked, taking a look around as he entered the apartment not long afterwards. He clearly found the scene amusing although Sarah couldn’t under stand why. It was partly Shanna’s home after all. He should be used to girly mess. “What’s going on?”
“Shan has a date. I was helping her to get ready.” Sarah replied, humourously holding up the hairdryer like a trophy before dumping it back in her bedroom. “Sort of, actually. She doesn’t quite know if it’s a date date or a friend date.”
“I was told those didn’t exist.” Chris smirked, reaching for a bottle of water from her fridge.
“Well, she’s dressed up for one. Looks gorgeous.”
“I think you look gorgeous.”
She rolled her eyes at him. “Chris, you don’t need to make any more effort, OK? You’re already in the apartment.”
“I think it bears repeating is all.”
He swallowed half the bottle of water before fixing her with a semi-quizzical stare. He tried to figure out what was going on as he watched her potter around the kitchen table, swiping something away into a cupboard, phone grasped in her hand. “What’s going on? You sounded weird on the phone and now you look like it as well.”
“Nothing’s wrong.” she answered far too quickly and tried to shrug it off but his body language told her he wasn’t buying it. She wasn’t sure what was bothering her more in this moment; him knowing her too well, or that he knew he knew her too well.
“OK, alright, well, it’s Friday night and I’m happy just hanging out and doing whatever but you can also talk to me as well. I’m not a monster.”
“It was her turn to look back at him, unsure of her next move or indeed his. she wondered if he was very likely regretting his decision to meet her now when twenty minutes in the opposite direction would take him to one of his favourite downtown dive bars. Instead, he rested against the side of the kitchen doorway, arms folded, a softness still present in his facial expressions. He seemed hesitant of what to say and she didn’t like the slight awkward air surrounding them. She didn’t want to venture into work-territory either.
“Do you want me to go, Sarah?”
She looked back up at him after a short spell spent staring down at her feet. “No. I don’t want you to leave. I’m just...there’s something...” she paused to re-evaluate her words. “You know what, it’s find. It’s nothing major. Of course I’m glad you’re here now.”
He pushed himself off from the counter and moved towards her, accepting of the greeting smile now covering her face, the bottle of water still in his grip. “Cool. Shall I follow your lead then, or...?”
“Do you wanna watch a movie or something?” she suggested, more casually than he would have liked. She didn’t know what to say to him now that all of her brain space was taken up with possibilities and wanting to call Audrey with the news. Chris hadn’t factored in watching a film but she seemed like she wanted a little peace and quiet and he had pretty much dived into the apartment as soon as she gave him the green light, eager as he was to see her without threat of Shanna walking in at any point.
“Movie sounds good.” He bobbed his head in agreement, content in their surroundings for now.
*
At some point towards the end of Searching, Chris quietly excused himself to go to the bathroom. Realising something was about to happen and not wanting to have to explain it to him after he returned, Sarah put the film on pause and headed into the kitchen to make a cup of tea. She had held him at an arm’s length for most of the night, the couch seeming longer somehow, but was now feeling a slight chill despite the thick sweater reaching midway down her thighs. He would no doubt have been cosy to snuggle up to but she was still pondering Greg’s message and couldn’t concentrate on much else.
Her demeanour hadn’t gone unnoticed by Chris. A couple of times he caught the glare from her phone screen illuminating her face from below and wondered who had gotten her attention this evening. He stopped himself from making an obvious joke and was disappointed that she hadn’t noticed him glance across at her several times during the movie. He wasn’t much interested in watching it. Telling the truth, he’d seen it via a DVD screener Matt had sent him months earlier but she’d mentioned she was looking forward to watching it and in all honesty, he had figured they would curl up together and he would have still gotten something out of it.
“Chris? Do you want a cup of tea?” she hollered from the kitchen doorway. No response for what seemed to be a long, long minute. She switched the kettle off and began pouring him one anyway. She could always drink two if he didn’t want it.
“Chris?” she shouted again.
She walked into the lounge to place the cups down and clocked the bathroom door ajar and seemingly empty. Maybe he left without telling her. In all fairness, she wouldn’t have been surprised or annoyed. She’d barely given him a moment of attention for the last two hours.
She wandered slowly down the hallway first passing Shanna’s bedroom before reaching her own and finding him stretched out across the bottom of her bed. She giggled and leaned on the side of the doorway. He looked rather comfortable. A little too comfortable. Maybe he wanted some company?
“What are you up to, Evans?”
He tilted his head up to find her standing there. “I was wondering how long it would take for you to notice I was gone.” He leaned up further and rested on one arm to fully take sight of her. His eyes appeared a little dopey, a thing that always seemed to give away his nefarious intentions. From the angle he was now lying in, the size of his bicep looked ridiculous. It could not have been an accidental move and she’d be lying if she said it wasn’t working for her.
“Are you bored? You can absolutely go if you have a better offer, I promise I won’t mind.” she offered by way of an apology but he stayed looking at her, not moving or responding to her offer. Being caught under his glare like this was unnerving to say the least. His hair looked a little messy from where he had been lying down yet he still made zero effort to move at all.
“I’m not bored.” He finally spoke, sincerity lacing his voice. “Are you? You seem distracted tonight.”
She didn’t know how to respond except to say he was right and to apologise again. She hadn’t figured out what to say to Greg yet so explaining her thought process to Chris wasn’t going to get her very far. It was times like this, when he was looking at her like that, that she wished she had the confidence to try and shut him up the old-fashioned way.
“Come here...” It was barely a whisper and she would have doubted he had spoken at all if it wasn’t for the hand he was now holding out towards her. He didn’t blink once.
She couldn’t refuse him and moved slowly to stand in the middle of his now-parted legs hanging off the end of the bed as he sat up. She watched as he closed his eyes when he felt her fingers smooth through his hair. There was something so calming about her touch, the deliberate graze of her nails sending little shocks down his spine. He wasn’t normally fussed by a woman playing with his hair even if occasionally he liked it when they pulled on it but something about her slow, tender touch was unlike anything he had felt before.
He moved his hands to the side of her thighs before pulling her legs down to either side of him. “I love looking at you from here.” he whispered, wrapping his arms around her waist making sure she couldn’t get away from him.
She moved in to kiss him, softly at first before she felt his tongue glide along her bottom lip, a wordless request for her to open up. He paused for a second, taking her in while she caught her breath before kissing her deeper than before. She pulled his t-shirt up from the hem and he reached up over his back to grab it and whip it off in record time. Not one of his proudest moments, it caught on his watch as he tried and failed to fling it to the side of them and he made a mental note to try that move again when he felt her chuckle against the side of his neck. He didn’t much mind being a dork in front of her. She knew he wasn’t as cool as he made himself out to be.
His hands found their way into her hair as he caressed the strands out of her face. He loved how silky it felt between his fingers and how faintly it smelled of coconut, her signature smell by now. Her hands gripped his wrists before slowly moving up his biceps and grasping at his shoulders while he pulled her down onto him to allow her to feel how hard he was becoming from her touch. He wanted to know she was only thinking about him. She felt him push up into her core and arousing her even more. His breaths were getting shorter while his hands moved down her sides in an attempt to hook into her leggings and drag them down and off her body. She moved a hand away from his shoulders to help him with his mission but a tapping sound soon broke her from her reverie.
“Wait.” she was still holding on to his arms to steady herself until things went quiet and his hands froze on her waist. Their breathing levelled out quickly and Chris threw her a confused look. “Do you hear something?”
“What?” He gasped. “No, nothing.” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her back down to kiss him hard. His hands firmly gripped her ass until she was putting pressure back where he wanted it. She quickly forgot what she was thinking about while he moved her slowly along his growing length. He moved one hand up her side, dragging her sweater up with it so his fingers could finally feel her skin underneath. Her hands were pushing down on his chest a bit harder and in a moment that took her by total surprised he quickly flipped them over so she was lying underneath him, completely encased by his strong forearms.
Kissing her was so easy he couldn’t believe he hadn’t done it sooner. Her lips were soft, some of the softest her had ever touched. He figured she kissed like she wanted to be kissed, and he wanted to kiss her back like no boy had ever kissed her before. It was soft and hot and breathy and turning him on immensely. Neither was trying to win a battle but rather seeking and enjoying their closeness, the sharing of this one single sensation, outside world be damned.
The prospect of being uninterrupted was giving him all kinds of ideas. Her breathing was hot against his skin and he knew she was in the zone with him. They’d never particularly been slow and up until this point, he hadn’t much minded but he knew there was some part of her she was holding back and honestly, it was thrilling to him that he was determined to figure her out.
Pinning her underneath, one hand reached down and grazed the inside of her thigh. A little more pressure just over her clit caused her breath to hitch with a sudden squeak ever so slightly until they smiled back into their kiss, tongues massaging together. Honestly, he could carry on doing this for hours if he knew for sure there would definitely be another time they had this opportunity.
She opened her eyes to find him resting so close above her and evidently relishing the way she was lightly tickling the back of his neck with her fingers. Another languid kiss followed before he caught the side of her neck between his teeth and pushed himself against her core, her wetness increasingly apparent to him. She was growing accustomed to his need to tease her like this that she almost missed the scraping sound that had returned, only this time it was louder and sounded like it was coming from just down her hallway. She would have loved nothing more than to continue focussing on the hot breath now ghosting across her neck and shoulders but, panicking, she grudgingly pushed him off her.
“Fuck, what is that?”
Helpless and slightly dazed, all he could do was watch her get up from the bed to stand by the door. With an ear close to the gap, she listened out for another sound. Quieter than before, she swore she heard what sounded like shuffling followed by something being dropped on the ground.
Spying him about to protest, she shook her head. “Nope. Nope, that’s definitely something.” She proceeded to tiptoe out of her room and down the hall towards the kitchen, her bare feet treading ever so lightly and managing to dodge the one creaky floorboard. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting to find but felt a brief surge of confidence knowing the vision of Captain America might alarm whoever was attempting to break in to her home and presumably try to murder them both. He was 6 foot and built like a tank, he could absolutely save them both if push came to shove.
Of course, no one was there that she could immediately see. Maybe something had fallen off the wall instead, or perhaps had been knocked over by a strong breeze coming in via the open window in the lounge? Maybe she was hearing things after all or maybe it was a burglar but they got startled and ran away when they heard footsteps inside. Maybe it was just their neighbour moving around next door but it sounded a little too close for that. She resorted to the only thing she could think of in that moment and picked up a spatula just in case.
Chris was reluctantly putting his t-shirt back on when he followed quietly behind her, shaking his leg to relieve some of the tension in his boxers. Something banged again but this time she was sure it was coming from outside of her front door. He could now hear it as well but wasn’t entirely sure what she was hoping to accomplish with a plastic spatula in her hand.
She held her finger up to her lips to stop him from making any noise and peered through the peephole. She couldn’t see anything. Gingerly, she decided to open the door and jumped backwards when there, on the ground hunched up and leaning against the door frame, was a rathe intoxicated Shanna. Her bag had been emptied in a hurry like she’d been trying to locate her keys, and her coat was falling off her shoulders. She was half-asleep.
Chris snorted from somewhere close behind Sarah unable to contain himself, instantly familiar with the view in front of him. Sarah exhaled with some kind of relief that they were safe from a mass-murderer.
“I don’t believe it...” she spoken quietly.
“I do!” Chris could barely stop the laughter coming out now.
She and Chris moved to help her into the apartment, each grabbing her under one arm. Chris bared the majority of her weight while Sarah carried her bag and as a many contents as she could find. They managed to manoeuvre her into her bedroom where she promptly fell forward, head first, onto her bed,
“Fuckin’ waster,” he laughed heartily before Sarah punched his arm to stop him from waking her. the room fell silent for a moment before the unmistakeable sound of Shan snoring took over. Chris closed the door behind them before following Sarah to the kitchen where she collected the remaining items that had fallen out of her bag. Picking up her phone, she checked for scratches.
“Well at least she didn’t lose it this time,” she held up the mobile to him but noticed he couldn’t stop grinning. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” he shook his head. “I just wish I’d taken a picture of her. Scott would have a heart attack. Always told her she couldn’t handle her drink!”
“i don’t know how you’d explain getting hold of a photo of her.”
“Oh yeh, good point.” he chuckled in reponse. They regarded each other for a moment, Chris clearly hopeful they could pick up from where they left off.
“I think you should go,” Sarah thought apologetically.
He paused before answering, expecting her to have been joking. “Why? She’s passed out on her bed. She’ll be asleep for hours. Do you have any idea how many times I have seen her like this?”
“Have you any idea how many times I have seen her like this? She’ll wake up in the middle of the night and get into bed with me and it’d be a lot easier to handle if I didn’t have to explain to her why her bother was also there.”
“Sarah, we could throw a rave and she wouldn’t wake up.”
He was making no effort to move, instead fixing her with a stare waiting for her to recognise how ridiculous she sounded. His hands pinched at his hips and he looked a foot taller than before
“Seriously, Chris, you’re just going to have to leave.”
He took a couple of steps towards her, bare feet padding along the hard, cold floor. “I haven’t see you all week.” He moaned, hands reaching out for her hoping the memory of where they had been would be enough to convince her he should stay.
“That’s not true. You saw me the other day.” It was a weak response. Even she knew that.
“That’s not what I mean and you know it.”
She offered back nothing. She had no response. He was disappointed and equally as frustrated with his lack of a decent comeback. He should definitely stay. He should be rocking her world right this moment and whispering filthy things into her ear but instead, all he could do was stand there and shake his head in defeat. When he made eye contact with her again, she looked somehow smaller in some way and he found it hard to continue being frustrated with her. He understood what she was doing as much as he didn’t want to.
Resigned, he shuffled towards her and embraced her in a hug. She felt him semi-hard against her tummy, briefly doubting her choices. It stirred something exciting inside her to think she could make him feel that way and mentally chastised Shanna for cock-blocking her. She felt bad for kicking him out like this.
“I promise I’ll make it up to you.” she whispered.
He loosely pulled away from their hug and looked down at her. He playfully raised an eyebrow and looked down at her lips, still pink and swollen, before chastely planting a kiss on them.
“I am absolutely going to hold you to that.”
*
Shan finally made an appearance the following morning looking like death warmed up. She’d somehow managed to remove her clothes but had a pyjama top on backwards and her hair was sticking out in all directions. She had Sarah’s expert eyeliner and a false lash smudged down one cheek.
Sarah was eating breakfast and checking the news on her phone when she saw the creature from the black lagoon emerge into her kitchen. Stifling a laugh at the sorry sight standing before her, she felt a pang of sympathy seeing every step cause her pain. Shan just pouted at her before taking a seat at the kitchen table, resting her forehead in her hands while Sarah fixed her a glass of juice and some aspirin. She took it gratefully before groaning.
“Remind me never to do shots again.” she stressed. Sarah knew it wouldn’t last, not with that Boston blood coursing through her veins. “Was Chris here last night?”
Sarah froze, a sudden ring clouding her ears. “Erm, no, he wasn’t.” She turned to put her bowl in the sink and tried to hide any blushes. She didn’t know who felt more like shit in this exact moment.
“Oh I could have sworn I heard him is all.” Shan said, more to herself than to anyone else. “God, it’s good he wasn’t. He’d have a ball game seeing me in that state. How awful was I?”
“Not very,” Sarah lied again.
“How did I even get home?” she asked, trying to piece together the flashes of memories that kept racing through her mind.
“Um, I think your friends dropped you off in a taxi and you somehow managed to get up the stairs but then I guess you couldn’t find your keys...?” Shan managed a puzzled look. “You were slumped against the front door.” She refilled her glass with juice. “You’ve been in bed for, like, twelve hours.”
“Shit, we must have started early.”
“Well it happens to the best of us.” Sarah sat next to her and pushed a loose piece of hair out of her sweaty, red face. “Your hair looks OK! I don’t think there is anything stuck in it this time.”
Shanna laughed for the first time before her head panged in revenge.
“So? Did anything happen with Robbie?” Sarah asked, a cheeky grin crossing her face. By the look on Shanna’s face, the answer was a resounding “no” but it could very well have been the alcohol-induced hurricane currently running though her head.
“Well, it was a great night regardless. You’d love the bar. I think we ran into that guy, the porter from your hospital? Pat something? Did you know he plated in a band?”
“Um, no, not at all. Wow.” Sarah was trying to picture Patrick with an array of different instruments to see which suited him before remembering the awkward time he attempted to drum Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’ with two scalpels. “Actually, he does seem the type. I’ll have to let Audrey know. She’ll love this.”
“He sounded pretty decent. It’s not just punk music or heavy rock. I think we should all go one night. Maybe as part of Mom’s birthday week.” Shanna perked up a little, proud of the idea that had materialised in her head against all odds. “It’s amazing what people can do when they put some effort in. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Where you might be now if you just took a chance.”
Following a night of heavy drinking, Sarah wasn’t expecting such an existential conversation at this point in the day. But it was a good point regardless. She grabbed her phone from the table and typed out a message to Greg.
“Yes. I’m in.”

I can’t really believe that it’s been a year since the last round up, but here we are! If you want to see what made it into 2017’s favourites post you can read it HERE (spoiler, there may be some repeats as we all know I’m a creature of habit!) But let’s crack on with my 2018 favourites!
This has been a strange year for me, both in general and when it comes to beauty. I started my own business at the start of the year which I’m incredibly proud of but it has also meant that blogging has taken a bit of a backseat for me. I’m hoping to find a better balance in 2019 as I do miss writing and sharing my discoveries with you all, thank you to everyone who has stuck around through the quieter times – forget make up, YOU’RE my true 2018 favourites!
As with last year, I’ve tried to list every make up product in order of application rather than in order of preference. Some of these are products I’ve used for years, some are very new discoveries, but for me all of them are worthy of the title of ‘best of 2018’.
Once you’ve finished reading, please do head to the comments to let me know what your 2018 favourites were so I can check them out!
PRIMER
Winner – Sofina Primavista Long Keep Base
Highly commended – The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer
I am an oily gal so a primer is always necessary in my make up routine. If you’re not a primer convert, you can read more about primers and why I recommend them to everyone HERE: they’re a wonderful way to help your make up go on smoother, last longer, hydrate the skin, add glow… so many benefits! I stocked up on the Primavista primer in Japan at the beginning of the year as it’s wonderfully light but keeps my foundation in place all day – however it’s ridiculously expensive to buy here so I apologise for including it (and haven’t linked it for that reason), but I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t use it! If you want something more affordable and accessible, The Ordinary primer featured in last year’s round up and I still really like it, but all the Deciem founder drama put me off using it if I’m honest.
FOUNDATION
Winner – Make Up Forever Matte Velvet Skin*
Highly commended – L’Oreal Age Perfect
The MUFE foundation is probably the newest entry into my 2018 favourites, having only launched towards the end of the year, but it is BRILLIANT: it’s matte and lasts really well on my oily skin, but doesn’t cling to my dry patches; it looks glowy without being greasy; and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. The L’Oreal Age Perfect foundation is very similar to one of my all-time favourites (L’Oreal True Match) but is a little bit more glowy and natural-looking so I tend to swing between those two when picking my base. I’ve reviewed it in full HERE.
CONCEALER
Winner – Sephora High Coverage Gel Concealer
Highly commended – IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye*
This Sephora concealer is another non-mover in my favourites. Unfortunately Sephora have now stopped shipping to the UK so I’m loathe to include this product but it really is my most used concealer. It’s high coverage but light enough for the delicate under eye area and affordable (if you’re near a Sephora!) The IT Cosmetics concealer is pricey but believe me when I say you need to use a blob the size of a grain of rice for both eyes, so it’ll last ages. This is the one I use when I need to bring out the big guns (e.g. red wine hangover…)
POWDER
Winner – Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java loose powder
Highly commended – Vichy Dermablend loose powder
I can’t count how many years I’ve been using this Bourjois powder, but it just ticks all the boxes for me. Very finely milled, with a slight sparkle to reflect the light (ideal for under-eyes), and doesn’t annoy my eyes – it does contain fragrance but it’s never annoyed my skin. If you’re very sensitive to fragrance, you may prefer the Dermablend powder, which is a great standard setting powder with a matte, sparkle-free finish. It’s more pricey, but it’s a huge pot.
BROWS
Winner – Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Pencil
Highly commended – GOSH Shape & Fill
I love a strong brow and am quite picky about the products I use, especially as brow products for blondes are tricky to get right… many are either too warm or too ashy. The Maybelline brow pencil reminds me a lot of the Sephora version …. which I originally bought as an Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz dupe! All three have a fine nib and give a very natural, but long-lasting, finish. The GOSH brow product has a wedge-shaped pencil on one end and a powder on the other end (which I don’t use). If you like a stronger brow, I think the latter will be a better fit for you.
EYESHADOW
Winner – Urban Decay Naked Heat*
Highly commended – Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance*
This category was tricky as I would say my Urban Decay Naked Heat palette was definitely my most used again this year, but I fell hard for the ABH Modern Renaissance palette (but didn’t use it nearly as much). Naked Heat featured in last year’s favourites post, which shows just how great it is. If you’re a fan of warm eyeshadows (or have blue/green eyes) then this will be so far up your street. Modern Renaissance is quite intense, with a high proportion of darker pink-toned shades so it’s definitely not for the faint hearted, but I do a little sigh every time I open it!
BLUSHER
Winner – Glossier Cloud Paints (P.S. that’s an affiliate link that will give you 10% off your order and me a credit on my account for sending you! Win-win!)
Highly commended – CanMake Cream Cheek Tint
Another new discovery for me (but not a new product by any means!) are the Glossier Cloud Paints. You can read my post about them HERE, but since then I’ve bought two more shades – I now have Puff (pale pink), Dusk (nude brown), and Beam (pale peach). These are cream liquid blushers that are lightweight on the skin and quite subtle so you can build them up really nicely. Following on my cream blusher obsession this year, I stocked up on CanMake cream blushers in Japan. I first discovered these on my first Japan trip a few years ago and they are brilliant – very easy to wear and ridiculously affordable (about £4 so please don’t pay the £30 some Amazon sellers are asking for!)
HIGHLIGHTER
Winner – Glossier Haloscope ‘Quartz’
Highly commended – Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Highlighter
I can’t believe that I avoided Glossier for so long as I didn’t buy into the subtle, natural make up look they embody. What a fool! The Haloscope highlighter is flipping dreamy: it gives a beautiful sheen to the skin without making you look greasy or like a glitter ball. I’ve been using it non-stop since it arrived. Before Haloscope converted me, I used the Maybelline stick highlighter. It’s a great stand-in if you are looking for a high-street option. I apply both with my fingertips to avoid disturbing the make up underneath and don’t think I’ll ever go back to powder highlighter!
MASCARA
Winner – Maybelline Lash Sensational
Highly commended – N/A
If you’re a regular reader you can’t be shocked by the inclusion of Maybelline Lash Sensational. It was my favourite last year and I have no doubt that it will be my favourite next year. It is my holy grail mascara and I will probably be buried with it. It lifts and separates lashes, is very black, doesn’t run even with my incredibly sensitive watery eyes, and doesn’t flake or transfer onto my brow bone. Plus it’s always on offer in Boots or Superdrug. Hand claps all round!
EYELINER
Winner – NYX Jumbo Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Pencil
Highly commended – Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow Stick*
I haven’t used liquid eyeliner or traditional pencil eyeliners much this year, but chunky crayon-type eyeliners will always be staples in my make up bag. Both the NYX and Bobbi Brown crayons are wonderful for either defining the eyes, an overall wash of colour, or building up a smokey, smudgy eye.
LIPSTICK
Winner – Sephora Cream Lip Stains
Highly commended – Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks
This is always the hardest category for me as lipstick is what makes me happiest when it comes to make up. But when I think of my most used and relied-on, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are always number one. The name is a bit misleading, as they don’t stain at all – they are a standard matte liquid lipstick – but they do last very well, don’t dry the lips, and the colour range is great. You can watch a video containing swatches of my collection (I’ve added even more since!) HERE. The Kat von D lipsticks have an even better colour range (if you prefer more unique shades!) I find the formula a bit hit and miss, with some lasting all day and some fading within an hour so I have to pick and choose when I wear them but the colours are enough to keep me going back!
PERFUME
Winner – Shay & Blue Black Tulip*
Highly commended – Atelier Cologne Tobacco Nuit*
I was gifted Black Tulip last December and I’m still wearing and loving it – it’s warm and sweet without being cloying plus I think it’s a great size for the price. I always get comments on it because it’s pretty but slightly unusual as well. Atelier Cologne is a pricier brand but if you want to treat yourself, I think perfume is absolutely the way to do it. Tobacco Nuit is the sexiest perfume I own – tobacco flower, tangerine, labdanum… if you’re near a stockist I really recommend going in and smelling the entire range because they are just stunning. The only reason this isn’t my 2018 favourite is because I only have the travel-sized bottle and so I’ve been eking it out! There’s also one called Orange Sanguine that is summer in a bottle and it’s on my wishlist for next year.
NAIL VARNISH
Winner – Essie Go Go Ginza
Highly commended – Essie Tart Deco
Choosing favourite nail varnishes is like choosing a favourite child for me… basically impossible. But I purposefully wore Go Go Ginza for our trip to Japan as I knew we’d be visiting Ginza, so that polish has such lovely memories for me. I need to replace my bottle as it’s severely depleted, but it is a beautiful pale grey-toned pink so I knew it would go with anything I chose to wear over those three weeks. The runner up, Tart Deco is a cult classic Essie shade for a reason – it’s like summer in a bottle for me, the perfect peach colour.
And that’s your lot! So many amazing products, a lot of which are keepers from last year’s favourites which I think is a really good sign. Don’t forget to head straight to the comments to let me know what your 2018 favourites were!

My Makeup Favorites!
When I started wearing makeup, my makeup bag consisted of only three products; foundation that was two shades too dark, bronzer that was as orange as a cheeto, and mascara that barely cost $3.00. It is safe to say that my collection has grown substantially since then. After a year working at Ulta Beauty, I have bought and or tested almost half of the products in the store and I have become officially obsessed with makeup. Due to buying and testing numerous products, I have found many of my go to favorites and I have also found a lot of makeup that I am not willing to ever buy again. In today’s post, I have decided to share my favorite products that I always keep stocked in my personal makeup collection. I would love to hear what products are your favorites. Comment on this post with your top three go to products. I would love to see what you all are loving, and even get to try out some products that I have yet to try!
Now, onto the tour of my favorite products in my collection!
Face:
1. L’OREAL Perfecting Base Primer
This primer is amazing! I bought it soon after a coworker had told me that it was a dupe for the Tarte blurring face primer. It is a budget friendly primer that effortlessly blurs your pores. My favorite thing about this primer? It lasts forever! A little bit goes a long way with this primer, and for a product that you use every day, that is extremely important.
2. Smashbox Photo Focus Foundation
This product is not a dupe and it will cost you around forty-two dollars, but it is one hundred percent worth the investment. I use to reserve this foundation only for special events and for going out, but it makes my skin look so amazing that I started to use it as my every day foundation. It is a perfectly lightweight, demi-matte foundation that provides a full amount of coverage without feeling like you have a lot of makeup on. I have not been able to find a drugstore foundation that performs as well as this foundation, but for the sake of my bank account, I hope I can find an imposter soon.
3. Tarte Shape Tape
Similar to the Smashbox foundation, this concealer is not budget friendly. Although it is extremely expensive for a concealer, at twenty-seven dollars, it performs like no other concealer on the market. You can say goodbye to any sign of dark circles and you can say hello to beautiful, bright under eyes! I use this product almost every day, and one tube lasted me almost 7 months. If you have the budget to invest in this concealer I highly recommend it.
4. Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer
Want a bronzer that smells like summer? Want a bronzer that glides onto the skin? Want a bronzer that gives you a gorgeous, warm glow? Then you need to head straight to the store to buy this bronzer. It has a fresh coconut scent with a smooth, buttery texture that sits on the skin so beautifully. Once I found this bronzer, I have not used any other bronzing product.
5. Maybelline’s Master Chrome Highlighter
I was always so hesitant to wear highlighter even though it has become such a big trend. I never knew which shade to use or how to apply it. Then, after watching countless product reviews on YouTube, I found Master Chrome. The golden tone of this blinding highlight gives an ethereal glow without washing you out. Words cannot describe how gorgeous this highlight is for its price tag.
6. Coty Airspun Setting Powder
For six dollars, you get enough of this product to last you a year! This translucent setting powder effectively sets your face makeup without causing flashback in photos or causing a white cast under the eyes. Unlike some facial powders, this powder is great for both overall setting powder and for baking your contour. The only thing I will warn you about with this powder is the smell. If you are sensitive to smells you may not like the perfume like fragrance that this product has.
7. MAC Fix Plus Setting Spray
This is not a product that I use every day, but when I need my makeup to last all day without sliding and smudging, I turn to this trusty setting spray. I love this product because unlike other setting sprays that I have used in the past, it has a refreshing fine mist that does not leave my face feeling overly wet or sticky. It also gives my complexion an overall matte finish which is especially helpful in the summer when the heat causes my face to get much shinier than normal. It rings in at around twenty-dollars, but the higher price tag is worth it, especially if it is only being used for special events, because it really does work flawlessly.
Eyes:
1. Morphe Second Nature Palette
Morphe is an indy brand, turned beauty industry power house. They are known for their high quality, but budget friendly makeup products. This eyeshadow palette is the perfect warm color story with blinding shimmer shadows and bold mattes. I have a large collection of Morphe palettes and I do not think I will ever find a better high pigmented shadow for such a bargain. I highly suggest you check out their collections.
2. Colourpop Super Shock Single Shadows
These single shadows are only four dollars apiece. If you need a solid shimmer or metallic shadow, packed with pigment, I would check these out on Colourpop’s website. These shadows are best applied with a synthetic brush or simply your fingertip, but with just a little pat of this product on the lid, your eye look goes from average to extraordinary.
3. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
This mascara is a higher ticket item, but with just a few swipes on the lashes, you will have perfectly voluminous and long lashes. The formula does not flake or clump so application is hassle free with no need to reapply all day long. There are only two shades available in this product; black and brown. I use the black shade and it is the perfect intense shade of black that defines my eyes without needing to cake on the product in order to see results.
Brows:
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer- Taupe
There is only one product that I will trust day in and day out to effortlessly and naturally define my brows. The triangle shaped tip allows for an easy application, even for beginners. The formula has the perfect amount of waxy texture that keeps the brow hairs in place without causing them to look fake and overdrawn. Another benefit of this product, is its double ended design. On one end of the component, there is the actual pencil and on the opposite end, there is a spoolie brush that allows you to tame the brow hairs with a simple flip of the product rather than having to constantly switch between two separate components.
Lips:
1. Colourpop Matte Liquid Lipstick
For only six dollars each, these lipsticks perform like a twenty-dollar luxury formula. They come in numerous shades so you will always find what you need when shopping for your ideal shade. I would highly suggest watching the swatch videos of your desired shades on YouTube before buying. The colors appear very different in the pictures compared to how they appear once applied on your lips.
2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss- Toffee
I was given this lip gloss as a gift from my manager and the second I used it for the first time, I was sold. This gloss is the ideal tinted nude shade. It allows you to keep your look natural while also looking polished and put together. It also has an amazing sugar cookie smell, and who does not love the smell of sugar cookies?!
3. Fizz & Bubble Sugar Lip Scrub
Not many people have heard of Fizz & Bubble, let alone their sugar lip scrubs. These products last forever and they keep the lips smooth and ready for flawless lipstick application. All the lip scrubs are vegan, edible and cruelty free which is awesome. They are also available in multiple yummy flavors such as, mint mojito, juicy watermelon, rainbow sherbet, and orange dreamsicle.

101 Beauty Tips for Girls
101 Beauty Tips for Girls There are about a million beauty tips floating around out there on the internet—but that definitely doesn’t mean we should be following every single one of them. A YouTube or Instagram account does not a beauty expert make, but when working makeup artists, hairstylists, skincare gurus and beauty editors are offering up advice, you better believe we’re listening! From secrets about how to style your hair without heat to brilliant ways to fix a broken compact case, the more beauty tips you have in your arsenal, the better you’ll be prepared to handle every situation thrown at you. Here are the things we think everyone should know. 101. “Always keep your summer makeup minimal. Minimal and sheer makeup is the way to go when it’s hot and muggy outside.” — Mary Greenwell, celebrity makeup artist 100. “The best thing to do when you go to a makeup counter is be armed with what it is you want to do.”— Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador 99. Use excess eye cream on cuticles. The more you hydrate your cuticles, the stronger your nails will be. 98. For smudge-proof eye makeup, take blotting tissue to remove any oil or any excess makeup from the eye area. Then, apply a small dab of cream concealer to hold things in place. 97. “A good perfume should consist of balanced blend of notes arranged in a way that creates harmonious accord.”— Alexis Bergman, P&G’s Global Flavor and Fragrance Trends 96. To prevent hair color from fading in the summer months, use a conditioning treatment weekly or bi-monthly. 95. Breakout before a big event? “Take oral cortisone a few days before the event to clear your skin.”— Ava Shamban, dermatologist and author of Heal Your Skin. 94. “In order to keep eyeliner from running and smearing, opt for liner formulas that offer stayproof wearability.”— Robin Schoen, Urban Decay Makeup Artist 93. Always allow about two fingers from your nose to where blush starts. 92. “Make sure you hydrate the skin and put on a primer.”— Jessie Powers, makeup artist and national educator for Make Up For Ever 91. “Balance out your shimmer. If you’re doing a shimmery eye, opt for a matte lipstick.”— Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador 90. Brush out your curls with your fingers to give your hair a more tousled look. 89. To make your manicure last, apply a thin layer of clear every two days. Pay particular attention to the free edge at the top of your nails, where chips usually happen, and apply extra clear polish there. 88. Wear white eyeliner in your water line to make eyes appear less red. 87. “Take a shimmery gloss to the center of your lips, top and bottom—this will attract light to your lips, making them look pouty.”— Katrina Barrion, makeup artist for Giella Custom Blend Cosmetics 86. For slicked back hair, use a hair serum. 85. For the perfect cat-eye, “select a thin liner brush that is tapered to the point” and use a gel eyeliner for extra saying power. — Pamela Taylor, makeup artist. 84. To make your cheek bones appear higher, use bronzer under the cheekbone and highlighter on the actual cheekbone, and remember to blend. Contouring at its finest! 83. Before you blow dry, start with a volumizing spray or light gel to give the roots some lift. Pull the brush up towards the ceiling to really boost volume. 82. For fuller lips, extend the lip line using a flesh tone lip liner. Be careful not to go overboard. 81. The #1 reason for flaky mascara is that the formula is too dry or old. Make sure to close mascara after use to help keep its moisture. To extend the life a bit, add 2-3 drops of saline solution into the tube and swirl the brush around. 80. To fake clear skin when you notice a pimple, “Apply tea tree oil as soon as you spot it”— Stephanie Flor, makeup artist. 79. “It’s easy to forget that feet can get sunburned. Be sure to apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50 when barefoot.”— Dr. Leslie Campbell, DPM. 78. For acne-free skin, look for a cleanser with salycilic acid or benzoyl peroxide. 77. When choosing a red lipstick, you just want to remember to get one that looks good with your undertone. If you have a warm undertone, then go for warmer reds, and if you have a cool undertone, then go cooler. 76. Sunscreens that claim to provide “all-day protection” and “water resistance” are not reliable; don’t be fooled by these claims and reapply all sunscreens at least every 2-3 hours. 75. When self-tanning, use a tanner with a guide color. “It will give you instant color before the effect and it will show you exactly where you put the color and where you may have missed.”— Sinead Norenius, founder of Beautisol. 74. “If you’re afraid of red lipstick, I love putting it on and then blotting it off to wear it as more of a stain”— Pat McGrath, makeup artist. Another way to make it less intense? Apply with your fingertip instead of straight from the tube. 73. For the summer months, you don’t want to be caked down in foundation, so try a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead. 72. Use blotting papers to manage oil and shine in your T-Zone, “which are also great for cleaning up around the eyes”— Rebecca Restrepo, makeup artist. 71. The antihistamines in allergy medicine dry out the skin, so skip heavy foundation during allergy season. Instead, use a tinted moisturizer. 70. To make curls last, make sure hair is completely dry before you begin with the curling iron. Also, use a heat protectant spray with hold on damp hair to keep hair protected. 69. To make a zit go away faster, don’t pick at it. The bacteria on your fingers will create more redness, and any attempt at popping will make things worse. 68. Use an exfoliator to get rid of dead skin, but limit yourself to 2-3 times a week so you don’t dry out your skin. Use a gentler scrub on your face and a coarser scrub on the rest of your body. 67. Always wash your makeup off before bed. “That morning-after look has never been a good one, for anyone.”— Rachel Adler, beauty director 66. “Too much bronzer is a nightmare for pale skin”— Jason Ascher, resident beauty expert for Barneys New York 65. Pick a sulfate-free shampoo, as sulfates can be harsh and drying on the hair cuticle. 64. If you have greasy hair, avoid directly conditioning roots and condition from your ear down to ends. 63.”When you wear a red lip it’s important that it stays exactly where you put it. Using a long wearing lip pencil to create the perfect shape and a lip color are key to having a perfect red lip.”— Kristofer Buckle, celebrity makeup artist 62. To make volume last all day, avoid running your fingers through hair. “Oil from your hands can weigh down your roots leaving your hair flat at the end of the day”— Tatum Neill, Arrojo Studio 61. Try to avoid washing your hair everyday. Constant shampooing leaves hair dry and your scalp will create more oils to compensate for the loss of moisture. Instead, use a dry shampoo and style your hair into a braid or ponytail when it’s a bit more oily. 60. Always use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. Even in the winter! 59.”Go for a trim every 6-8 weeks to ensure you have no damaged ends making your hair look unhealthy”— Nick Arrojo, Arrojo Studio (and the man who worked for seven years changing lives on What Not To Wear) 58. Remember, clean your makeup brushes to fight against potential bacteria and breakouts. At least once a week, swirl brushes around in a mixture of warm water and mild soap, then lay flat to dry. 57. Clean out your makeup bag at least once a year to get rid of old products that may be expired or you no longer use. 56. Winter can be especially harsh on your hair leaving it extra dry. Eugene Davis, celebrity hair stylist suggests using an Avocado Oil Hair Mask. 55. If you don’t have nail polish remover, apply clear nail polish over your nail, and then wipe off. It will remove old polish. 54. During the summer, wear lip balm or gloss with SPF. 53. To add volume to clean or unwashed hair, use a dry shampoo spray. 52.Change your beauty routine for spring and summer months. Your skin needs less coverage during the spring so you can swap the heavy, winter products for lighter ones. 51.”I always think that less is more. There’s a point where you look in the mirror and say ‘Is this too much?’ and if you even have that inclination then it usually is.”— Kim Catrall, “Sex and the City” 50. When applying bronzer, “first start by applying it around the perimeter of your face and follow with a light dusting on your forehead, nose and chin.”— Mally Roncal, Mally Beauty. 49. To get curls when you have straight hair, use, “a volumizer or volume thickening agent, a curl enhancing product, light holding finishing spray.”— Vicktor Stevenson, Hair Stylist. 48.”Foundation should never be heavy.”— Aura Schwartz, makeup artist. Apply liquid foundation with a damp makeup sponge for best results. 47.”The right red will light up your hair, eyes and skin immediately, the wrong one will not.”— Poppy King, Lipstick Queen 46. To clean up the flick of a cat eye, use a dampened, pointed Q-tip. 45.To revive curls mid-day, “Take a very small amount of pomade and put it in the palms of your hands. Rub them together. Next gently smooth the pomade over your curls and scrunch just a little bit.”— Eugene Davis, celebrity hair stylist 44.”You should always go to a hair-removal specialist, where waxing, laser etc. is their main business – don’t go to a nail salon for a wax”— Cindy Barshop, Completely Bare and Bravo’s “RHONYC” 43.”A little silvery-blue eyeliner on the lower lid is very flirty.”— Dimitri James, makeup artist, author and creator of Skinn Cosmetics 42.”Use your concealer as a base on your eyelids.”— Melissa Silver, Maybelline makeup artist. Concealer will help to absorb oil and your eyeshadow will stick to the product instead of your lids, making it stay longer. 41. If you’re not a fan of liquid liner, get the look of liquid eye liner by using a gel instead. 40. Exfoliate before applying self tanner to get rid of dead skin. Tanning products tend to cling to drier areas and rougher areas, like your knees and elbows, so make sure they’re moisturized first. 39. If you straighten your hair with a flat-iron, cause less heat damage by letting hair air dry. The less heat, the better! 38. To minimize pores, use a pore-minimizing facial wash followed by a toner. Make sure the toner is alchohol-free so it won’t dry out your skin. 37. The healthier you are, the healthier your hair! Take a daily multi-vitamin with Biotin to help hair grow faster. 36.To mask split ends, use an iron to straighten ends and then apply a hair repair cream. 35.There are always cheap, natural and effective homemade beauty recipes. 34.To fix brassy hair color, use a color-depositing shampoo with purple tones. For unwanted redness, use a color-depositer with a green tone. 33. To cover up roots in a hurry, use a dry shampoo spray for your hair color. If you don’t keep this product around, use eyeshadow (in a shade closest to your hair color) for a quick fix. 32. Get a “dewy glow” using a highlighter or illuminator above your cheekbones and on the brow bone, just underneath your eyebrows. 31. To contour cheeks, use a matte powder (a few shades darker than your skin tone) with an angled brush. Blend on temples and under cheek bone. 30.When using a cream product (blush or eyeshadow), lock it in by using a translucent powder over it. 29. Get quick volume by using a root lifter, then use hairspray to set hair. This will prevent it from falling flat during the day. 28. For makeup that lasts all day and night, use a makeup-sealing product like a setting spray. 27. To help you find the right shade of foundation, choose the product you think is closest to your color and try it on your jaw line in natural light. You will be able to easily compare it to your neck’s color to see if you need to go for a different undertone, lighter or darker. 26. Try out the funky hair color trends without dyeing your hair. Instead, dust bright blush in your ponytail for the same effect. (Refinery29) 25. “Foot perspiration is typical in the summer and can lead to fungal infection and unwanted odor. Wash feet daily, and let them dry thoroughly before putting shoes on.”— Dr. Leslie Campbell, DPM. 24. Splurge on items that are important to you.”If mascara is really your thing and you fall in love with a mascara that’s $40, buy the mascara.”— Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador 23.”Don’t be too serious: It’s only Makeup! “— Francois NARS insists you play around with new colors. 22. To reduce unwanted shine, use a moisturizer that mattifies your skin. That way you get the moisture your skin needs without looking greasy. 21. To create a lived-in look for your hair, use thickening or sea-salt mist before you blow-dry. Follow by running a volumizing or texture cream through hair. 20. When using an eyeshadow primer, only place the primer where you’ll be adding color. 19.”Cream rouge should be the first thing that touches your cheeks when you want to project an image of healthy and pinched cheeks.”— Pablo Manzoni, former creative director for Elizabeth Arden 18. If you choose to use false eyelashes, remember to use the dark glue as it will blend in with the lashes. 17. When buying “organic” beauty products, make sure to check if they are FDA certified organic. This will prevent you from getting scammed. 16. Use a facial exfoliater bi-weekly to get dead skin of dead skin. Makeup will look better on a clean, smooth canvas. 15. After using a hair conditioning mask, follow with “a cold water rinse to close the hair cuticles.”— Ursala Stephensen, celebrity stylist. 14. To get your braid to last all day, try styling hair that’s dirty with product. This will make the style stick longer. 13. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to get rid of any product build-up that may have occurred during the week. 12. If you have chipped nail polish, add glitter on top to disguise the look of chipping. 11. Use a pumice stone on your feet after the shower to get rid of calluses. 10. Hydrate your under-eye area with an eye cream to prevent puffiness and bags. 9. If you have light hair,”put a lotion over the eyebrows and hair-line” when self-tanning the face. Also remember to “apply it in circular motions and blend down to the neck.”— Sinead Norenius, founder of Beautisol 8. If you often find yourself being too tired to wash your face at night, keep makeup removing wipes in your night stand to prevent a runny mess or morning break out. 7. Pop 1-2 Advil before going waxing to prevent pain. 6. The best way to get rid of ingrown hairs is to exfoliate,”which rids the skin of dead cells and allows the hair to break through the surface.”— Marlena Ramoy, Bliss Spa esthetician. 5. Carrots are good for the hair. A healthy diet leads to a beautiful you. 4.”The best time to apply creams is after the shower, as the skin has been de-oiled.”— Dr. Stephen P. Bracci 3. Replace mascara and liquid eyeliner after 3-4 months. 2. To keep hair color vibrant longer, use shampoos and conditioners formulated for colored hair. 1. Use a cream or milk cleanser to wash your face. Creams are less drying than gels. Originally published August 2014. Updated May 2017. Read the full article

Although I didn't try out the primer, I did try out the combination of the lip liner and lipstick. I lined and filled in my lips with Cherry, and then put on Russian Red over the top. The first thing I noticed was that the lipstick smells amazing! It's like a nice sweet vanilla-sh scent, but it's not too overpowering, which is good too.

안녕하세요
Hello everyone! This is part 2 in my holiday collection series. You can read part one here. In this post I will be focusing on the fun and interesting Be My Universe collection from Etude House. Another collection I was very excited to get in the mail. I purchased everything from beauty box korea. I am fascinated with space and the motif was just screaming my name. This collection featured a little bit of everything including new lipstick colors, cosmetic bag, a fragrance, two palettes, a brush set, eye pigments, and redone mascara packaging to fit the collection.
♥
Dear My Matte & Glass Tinting Lips Talk in PP502 Aura Purple $7.20 3g
Case is #29 $3.60: There are 5 lip colors in the collection and three are made just for the collection. And there 5 new cases introduced for the line as well. I was drawn to this color because it is a purple tone and unusual to see from Korean brands. In the tube this lipstick is a purple duo chrome with a green shift. Sounds intimidating I know! When it is swatched it is a sheer deep purple with a lot of purple and blue glitter. The color can be built up to a more metallic purple lip. The formula smells and tastes softly like fruit candy. It is creamy when you apply it on the lips and does dry down and feels comfortable to wear, but the glitter does transfer everywhere. If you do not like a ton of glitter in your life you should steer clear of this lipstick. The color does leave behind a light berry stain. The wear time isn’t the best of the lipstick and I have to reapply quite often through out the night. You can also use this lipstick as a lip topper to deepen any shade and add some glitter.
♥
Colorful Scent Eau De Perfume White Floral Mush 50ml + 7ml $20.71: This perfume set comes with a giant bottle of perfume and a rollerball to carry with you anywhere. The design of the packaging for each is adorable. The purple color is echoed in packaging for other items in the line as well as the stars on the roller ball. They both look very classy and expensive. The scent is a white floral mush with a top note of neroli and orange a heart of rose, muget, jasmine, and violet and a base of musk, cedarwood, and scandalwood. This is a very powerful scent where a tiny little bit goes a long way. The scent sadly reminds me of my grandma’s house. The cedarwood and scandalwood are very overpowering and you can’t really smell any of the other notes.
♥
Universe Multi Palette 1gx6 / 1.8gx1 in Golden Galaxy $17.10: There are two versions of this palette Pinky Galaxy (with a pink blush ) and Golden Galaxy (with a golden highlighter) I went against the gran and went with the golden version I also liked the front graphic much more. The graphic is printed on the palette and is absolutely mesmerizing. The palette consists of 2 mattes, 1 metallic/ shimmer shade, 3 glitter shades, and 1 highlighter. Some of the shades do have a hard time showing up on my NC25-NC30 skin tone and with a primer the shades to fade quite a bit throughout the day. I like how soft and creamy the shades are and how well they blended together on the eye to make a sexy soft smokey eye. The highlighter shade (pressed with the shape of Saturn) is a soft champagne color that comes off more shimmery than glittery and is great is you want a subtle glow over a blinding highlight and is great for every day use. I do have to say the colors in this palette are a bit boring for the theme and I feel quite limited with what I can do with them and the pink glitter shade feels out of place.
♥
Final Thoughts: 2.5/5 The collection looks so fun and captivating with glitter and holographics , stars and Saturn motifs. The lipstick is a unique color that can be used alone or as a lipstick topper but the effects on it are not long lasting. The perfume looks beautiful on my vanity but the scent just isn’t for me. The palette is beautiful and you can achieve a soft smokey eye and a nice everyday highlighter, but the intensity fades even with a primer and the colors feel a bit boring and I have a hard time getting some of them to show up on my skin. This collection is eye candy but I am so sad to say the performance I have encountered was meh.
♥
Thank you so much for reading and please follow me ♥ to never miss a post!

Things We Finish: Winter 2019
Very little tops a perfect night out. Your energy level is inexplicably high even though it's well past your circadian rhythm-dictated bedtime; you've sustained the right level of buzz without passing straight through to 'public intoxication'; the function is chill/bumpin'/air-conditioned [whatever floats your boat]. All in all, you're having a great time.
The one thing that might rank as just a smidge more fun than that ideal night out comes right before the ideal night out: It's the absolutely fabulous, very glamorous, yet strangely relaxing "getting ready" session. Lights dimmed low—except for around your bathroom mirror—and music tuned to these sweet beats. It's all very vibe-y and very cool (as long as you're into 'cool'— please see a meditation on that word right over here). So now that you're in the mood, which products do you pull out? Well, these of course!
Maison Balzac Candle First things first, scent sets the tone. See a candle as your hourglass for getting ready: Light up with enough time to let the whole top liquefy—by the time your burn is even, you'll have had enough time to redo your cat eye at least two or three times. Currently burning at ITG HQ is Maison Balzac's La Rose, acquired immediately after summer's signature La Plage extinguished itself.
Chanel Hydra Beauty Gel Yeux Everyone loves Coco, it seems. French undereye gels are not new and not hard to come by, but these say Chanel all over them so that's chill. Nothing livens up a party like a de-puffed face. Pairs nicely with your very fancy, not chill at all jade roller.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir If undereye gels help you chill at home, this facial spray will help you chill on the go. Buy the travel size to refresh halfway through the night—both with scent and hydration.
Lucas Pawpaw Ointment Skip the lipstick. It's great for a seated dinner with a designated start and end. But that's not what tonight is. No, tonight doesn't have an RSVP. And there might not be mirrors. Or time to touch up. There might be shots, though. So grab a tube of hydrating, glossy balm and call it a night...eventually.
Ellis Faas Concealer Similarly, skip the foundation (unless there's a step-and-repeat). Grab a concealer with good coverage and an attached application device. No time for extra brushes or fingers. Apply directly to the face where you need it.
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate A two-in-one! And you never thought those could be chic. Yet here we are. Life is funny that way. But really, this is a truly glamorous product if you're going to invest in one thing.
Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Eye Primer The Marc Jacobs Beauty team can make anything cool—including primer, which is an essential product, but not necessarily very cool. Now it is. The nude-ish formula helps bright the lid and hold on to whatever you put on after. Which could be...
Glossier Lidster Glimmer made simple. Swipe on with the doe foot in any one of the easy-going, flattering colors (or mix together! That also works!) and tap until you've got the shape you want. It sets in about 10 seconds and stays put. Partially thanks to the primer. Dance for hours crease-free. If only they made slip dresses with the same properties.
L'Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Mascara does not have to be expensive. In fact, it shouldn't be. L'Oréal's formulas are great across the board and available literally anywhere.
Ricky's NYC Hair Clips A little weird, but it works. These clips are meant to keep hair away from the face and bend-free while you attend to the face. But what if you wore them out and about? That would be kind of groovy, no? Take them for a spin and report back.
Maison Louis Marie Perfume Oil At the very last moment, roll this on (No. 4, bien sûr). The most personal way to wear fragrance isn't sprayed; it's rolled, tapped, dotted. Feels small, but it'll grow throughout the night. You've got plenty of time.
Diptyque candles! Those beautiful French jars of wax that communicate “bougie,” literally and socially. ITG loves ‘em, repurposes ‘em (exhibit A), and can hardly pronounce ‘em, let alone read ‘em. But the French language and unusual typography can only hold back a trio of New Yorkers with questionably fragranced apartments so far. In fact, Emily, Ashley, and Utibe were emboldened, and embarked on a mission: to rank every single Diptyque candle. All 45! A tough job for a group who only knows how to spell “Diptyque” by internally clocking “dip-tee-cue.”
We locked ourselves in the beauty closet for hours to complete this task. There was note-taking. There were metaphors and various analogies. Snacks and mediocre cappuccinos were consumed. In the end it was all worth it. A consensus was reached! And now behold: every Diptyque candle currently on the market, ranked.
44. Ambre: Woody, earthy, flowery, spicy. The opposite of the Coco Chanel maxim; definitely puts an extra thing on before leaving the house.
43. Santal: Surprisingly sweet. Santal 33 has requested a DNA test for authenticity purposes.
42. Chêne: Damp wood. Like walking into a house that’s been uninhabited for months.
41. Coming: Not-so-saccharine bubblegum.
40. Mimosa: A faint whiff of sea salt. Or unscented, depending on your proximity to the flame.
39. Coriander: Not as sexy as cilantro tbh.
38. Aubépine: Powder snow mixed with...earth? Dried flowers? Regardless, Ashley keeps calling this Au Bon Pain.
37. Thé: Smoky citrus. Points for label readability.
36. Noisetier: Mildly spicy nut milk. Yes, yes—oat milk is preferred.
35. Tubérose: Creamy, funky floral. Mocks flowers that are “commercial.”
34. Benjamin: Dark, earthy, and sweet. The Werther’s Original of candles.
33. Menthe Verte: Minty, but not bright. Think about it.
32. Géranium Rose: Ooooh, so that’s what geranium smells like!
31. Roses: Smells like how roses taste. Begging to go in a powder room.
30. Music: Boss baby smell. Famously voiced by local celebrity, Alec Baldwin.
29. Feuille de Lavande: Dryer sheet lavender, but longer-lasting.
28. Violette: Floral, just like the name suggests. Good, but not an instant love, hence the ranking.
27. Jasmin: White floral. Described as voluptuous by Diptyque. Knows how to make an entrance either way you slice it.
26. Verveine: Classy lemon. Communicates the illusion of newly cleaned floors. Nice knowing ya, Swiffer!
25. Opopanax: They say balsamic. We say carbonated soda. Salads must taste like a party in France.
24. Cannelle: Cinnamon. As straightforward as it gets. Tied with Pomander.
24. Pomander: Potpourri. Who potpourri-ed in the bathroom?!?
23. Bois Ciré: Woody. The best part of yoga class: the end when the incense starts burning.
22. Mousses: Moss and wet concrete. You know what they say about mousses in your house. There’s never just one…
21. Foin Coupé: Soapy, with a whiff of grass and earth. Something Donatella Versace would wash her dishes with. Just kidding, Donatella doesn’t do dishes, silly!
20. Maquis: Wood and citrus. This is a pleasing scent, but it blends well into the background. Soundtrack, but make it olfactory related.
19. Patchouli: You’ve got an ad job! A classy patchouli to fragrance your mid-level executive apartment.
18. Muguet: Lily of the valley, which is a poisonous plant. Three points for drama!
17. Oranger: Orange and star anise. For the people who gift oranges in Christmas stockings...
16. Genevrier: Woody juniper. None of us really knows what juniper is though… Fresh laundry meets Vick’s Vapor Rub? Good enough.
15. Vétyver: Cedarwood and slightly floral. Cozy firewood, but not but not burn-your-house-down cozy firewood. 9/10 firefighters approve.
14. Cuir: Fancy leather. Like walking into my Hermès closet! —Lisa Vanderpump, probably
13. Choisya: Ashley says confidently, “This is tuberose.” (We looked it up, it’s orange blossom.)
12. Vanille: Very creamy, a little nutmeg, a little smoke. Unfortunately not fit for human consumption.
11. Babies: “It doesn’t smell like berries, and I deduct points for liars” —Emily “But we love it!” —Everyone else
10. Oyedo: Citrus. Grapefruit meets Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Refreshing!
9. Freesia: “Do I smell freesias? If I see freesias anywhere...” (Name that movie.)
8. Gardénia: Another white floral. Smells like fresh cut stems. Now isn’t that nice?
7. Eucalyptus: You’ll never guess what this one smells like…
6. Cyprès: Warm honey. Smells like how wearing a Rhode Resort dress feels.
5. Myrrhe: Amber resin. Now sing it with me: “I said now myrrhe, it’s cold in here, there must be some amber in the atmosphere.”
4. Oud: Your middle of the road oud. If you like it, you like it, if you don’t you don’t.
3. Figuier: Subtle fig. The scent of 8/10 beauty editors.
2. Tilleul: From the Linden tree, which is native to Tulum or Capri, probably. Oprah’s got this burning in her solarium as we speak.
1. Feu De Bois: The one and only. Burning logs that don’t smell burnt. Warmth in a candle. The inventor of winter. December through February wouldn’t be the same without it.

coffee & green tea💕
Coffee: favourite cosmetic brands. Oh I love this question! My favourites are the ones that are worth the money, super reliable and have good sturdy packaging. I base their worthiness of how much money I’ll save (ie: buying a $50 concealer but only having to use a teeny bit each time and NEVER having to retouch is more cost effective than a $20 one that annoys you because it fades and runs out too quickly). I also never have time in the morning so I need to know stuff is ALWAYS going to work!
Concealer: NARS and Shiseido. They never fail me and I’ve been buying them for a years. They are pricey but they’re worth it. If used correctly, you only need a tiny bit each time because I find them pretty pigmented (and I have a lot of dark scars to cover). I cannot recommend these enough. They are my absolute favourite products in the world.
Lipstick: Chanel’s Coco Rogue line is amazing. I’ve had the red ‘Cambon’ shade for so long and it’s no where near close to running out. Intensely pigmented and true to its colour. You can either use it as a stain (and blot away the excess) or layer it on for a full opaque look. It can be matte (again, blot with tissue) or slightly creamy/sheen. It’s literally the Do-It-All lipstick. I cannot fault it and it never ever fails.
Liquid Lipstick: I’m not usually into this whole trend thing but I recently got the Armani Lip Maestro and I would definitely recommend it too, especially for those who don’t like the feel of lipsticks and want something lighter in weight but just as much colour/pigments. It stays on all day (even through lunch) and I literally only have to use four tiny dots of it so it the tube will last me all year(s). If you can get a sample-DO IT! You probably won’t even have to by the full priced tube. It will last you THAT LONG. It’s matte but not drying at all. Do not waste money on trendy brands. Armani products are all legit.
Lipbalm: okay clearly I like lip products, haha. The Burt’s Bees tinted lipbalms in “Rose” is my go-to product when I don’t want to wear any make-up but still want to look vaguely life like. It’s got just the right about of warmth in it to give your lips a healthy natural tone. It’s brilliant! I sometimes layer it on top of the other two products if I want everything to last even longer (we’re talking all through my 12 hour shifts).
Mascara: it’s not about the mascara! If you are not naturally blessed with great lashes, don’t go out and buy the latest gimmicky mascara! It’s not worth it at all. Get a great curler (Shu Uemura, heated or one that fits your eye shape) and a great mascara primer (the Shiseido one is the best I’ve ever use). If you have these two products then any crappy mascara will look good. People still ask me if I am wearing fake lashes (I never do).
Perfumes: ahhh, my pet topic. I used to work in a perfume store so I’m a sucker for this stuff. My currently favourites are those that last the distance and don’t dry with a disgusting top note. I kinda like fruitier rose based fragrances so I’m currently alternating between Armani’s Si (citrus and blackcurrant) and Givenchy’s Very Irresistible (rose). Again, these last all day (if you buy EDPs) and the dry top note is the same as the initial one. No crazy surprises throughout the day! Haha.
Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. Hands down one the best products invented. I can’t fault it in any way. One tiny jar will go on for years.
Blush: I don’t really use foundation anymore but I love blushes. NARS Orgasm is the classic but if you live in Australia and want something insanely amazing but cheap, try the Natio Peach Glow. That thing is so damm pigmented that I’ve had the same one for like….four years and there’s barely a dent in the pan. You’re probably seeing a pattern here right? I like super strength, fail proof stuff!
As for your other question:
My favourite ice-cream flavour is vanilla! People joke about my minimalism but….I can’t help it. =(

I typically post one Skincare Shake Up post a month to show you what I’m using and what has made the cut, but some of you have noticed that I skipped May. I had been trying a few new products and wanted to give them a little bit of time because summer weather and rosacea are not a fun combination at the best of times, but adding in unknown products? Potentially disastrous! So both of the skincare routines below have been in place for two months.
Here’s my standard Skincare Shake Up blurb, just in case you’re new around here: I always split the Skincare Shake Up posts into my evening and morning routines. Sometimes there are products that crossover but typically they will be quite different. Last month I trialled a new system where I labelled which products were ‘must haves’ and which are ‘nice to haves’ when building a routine; which products do what; what order to use them in, etc. I used a code – MH for ‘must have’, NTH for ‘nice to have’. The products are in the order I use them and I’ll try to explain why if there’s a specific reason for that. I try to include as much info on ingredients or extra details as possible (e.g. if it’s vegan, perfume-free, alcohol-free) but please bear in mind that my information isn’t exhaustive and you should still do research to double check if these things are important to you.
Are you sitting comfortably? Let us begin…
SKINCARE SHAKE UP EVENING ROUTINE
First Cleanse (MH if you wear a lot of make up or SPF) – For removing make up, I’m still loving The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil – it’s actually running low so I need to top up. If I wasn’t wearing make up or SPF or just wanted a quick cleanse (it’s so warm and sweaty in London this has been entirely necessary recently!) I’ve been using the Klorane Floral Water Make Up Remover* which is lovely. The pump lid makes using it so easy with very little waste, and the product is a pleasure to use. Very lightly fragranced (with a natural scent, no added fragrance here), doesn’t annoy my skin, and leaves it feeling calm and clean. Plus it’s enormous so will last ages!
Second Cleanse (MH even if you don’t wear make up) – I first tried the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser* about 6 months ago and it’s just as good as I remembered. It removes all make up and leaves my skin feeling soothed and calm – a wonderful, simple option if you are looking for a new cleanser.
Exfoliation (exfoliation is a MH if you have dull or dehydrated skin, and chemical exfoliation is a kinder option if you have sensitive skin) – In my last Skincare Shake Up post I mentioned that I was still on the look out for my holy grail chemical exfoliator product and I think I may have found it in the Medik8 Blemish Control Pads*. They are alcohol-free, contain 2% salicylic acid, are vegan friendly, and non-drying. You get 60 pads in a pot and I use 2-3 a week (depending on how my skin is looking and feeling) so this pot will last me months. I only use it on the areas of my face that get congested (nose, chin, jaw) and then use the rest of the pad on my forearms where I get keratosis pilaris/chicken skin. I’ve been using these for about 2 months and I love them!
Serum (NTH – I can’t be without serums but if you want to streamline your routine/save money you could skip) – I’ve been trying out the Muji Light Toning Water High Moisture, which I bought in Japan. It falls into the same category/has the same function as the Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion that I’ve been using for the past few months – it’s an added step if you want a bit more moisture. I apply a few drops to the palm of my hands and smooth it over my face. Sadly I don’t think the Muji product is as good – so I’ve been using both…!
Retinol (If you’re targeting fine lines and texture it’s a MH) – Yep, I’m still using the La Roche Posay Redermic R Intensive cream* (Boots or Escentual). If you’re new, you can look back at previous Skincare Shake Up posts HERE to see why I’m still using this amazing retinol products months and months after first trying it.
Moisturiser (MH for most people, even if you’re oily) – I first tried the DHC Astaxanthin Collagen All-In-One Gel* late last year and really liked it so I was looking forward to using it again. I still like it but I definitely think it’s better suited to the colder months, as it feels a bit heavy for these warmer nights. I’ve only been using a small amount so that it doesn’t feel too smothering on my sensitive skin.
Treatment (MH for anyone with sensitive/sunburned/aggravated/dry skin) – My seborrheic dermatitis is still not happy after last month’s issues, so I’ve been applying a little bit of the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 (Boots or Escentual) to the affected areas to soothe them.
SKINCARE SHAKE UP MORNING ROUTINE
Cleansing (MH to remove dirt, oil, sweat, dead skin) – I’m still using the Simple Micellar Water* to freshen the skin on a morning. It’s quick, easy, and great for my sensitive skin.
Vitamin C (NTH) – I’m still using the La Roche Posay Redermic C10* (Boots or Escentual) and still loving it. If you would like to target signs of ageing (fine lines, loss of firmness, dull skin) but are worried that it will aggravate your skin, this is a great introductory vitamin C product.
Serum (NTH – I can’t be without serums but if you want to streamline your routine/save money you could skip) – Another repeat feature in my Skincare Shake Up, if you haven’t read how much I love the La Roche Posay HyaluB5 serum* (Boots or Escentual) then you can hear me wax lyrical about it HERE.
Moisturiser (MH) – The La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluid (Boots or Escentual) is still serving me well – it’s light, sinks in quickly, and leaves a great base for under make up.
SPF (ABSOLUTE MH) – This may shock you if you follow these Skincare Shake Up posts, but I tried – and liked! – a new SPF product this month. The Ultrasun Brightening Anti-Spot and Anti-Pollution Face Fluid SPF 50* is really lovely: it feels like nothing on the skin, doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, or a white tinge to the skin. I have noticed a little bit of pilling (when the product rolls up into balls) when it’s layered under make up, but I get around that by making absolutely sure my skincare has totally absorbed before applying, and leaving time between the SPF and my make up. The ‘anti-spot’ refers to pigmentation caused by sun damage, so if you’re concerned about age spots or discolouration, this may be the SPF for you.
Mask/treatments (NTH if you have specific issues you would like to target) – The Dermalogica Barrier Repair* is an unusual product. It feels a little like a primer – that silky silicone finish that some people hate (I don’t personally mind it) – but sinks in quickly leaving a matte finish. I find it very soothing and have been applying it to my cheeks and temples when they feel a little aggravated. The Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Cream* is aimed at skin that is dry, compromised, in recovery. I’ve been using it as a mask as it’s a little thick for my skin to use as a moisturiser, but it is one of the nicest masks I’ve used in a long time.
I hope you enjoyed this month’s Skincare Shake Up. I find my skincare routine so calming and relaxing: the moments I spend applying products to my skin are one of my only waking moments when I’m not looking at a screen and I relish them. I’ve tried hundreds of products over the years and I love telling you about them, so I hope you enjoy reading about them.

Review of fradore’s THIS IS HOW YOU FEEL INSIDE Body Eau de Toilette #03
fradore is an all-new Deo and Perfume brand, designed especially for your body. They combine body fragrance and deodorant to suit your everyday activities while keeping you fresh. Their Body Eau de Toilette comes in 4 different varieties including this one, #3 THIS IS HOW YOU FEEL INSIDE (citrus & floral & fine woody), #2 DIRTY SALTY PASSION (wild floral & mild citrus) and #1 DIRTY SALTY PASSION (herbal & musky). Their Body Eau de Toilette is designed to keep your body scent fresh and alluring with an authentic smelling formula. This product retails for between $45-60 USD, you can get it here for $48.30 + shipping (free on Prime).
Ingredients
SD Alcohol 40-B, Water, Fragrance, C12-14 Pareth-12, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
To quickly note, I received this for a small fee from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
This perfume contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and the fragrance is, top: sweet orange, mid: mimosa & heliotrope, and base: cedarwood & musk mallow. The scent is really slightly citrusy with a touch of powder and florals. It also comes in a very sturdy hard glass bottle.
The perfume is a pretty basic mist without any colorants. I did notice it was slightly tacky on the skin which is different than many other perfumes.
Recommended use is to gently spritz onto the skin where your pulse beats such as the back of the neck, ears, or collarbones as well as wrists and inner part of the elbows. Apply very generously for a full fragrance effect. After using, I found the best way to use this was to pair it with the same scented Body Primer Cream (review) and the scent really does a long time without being overwhelming albeit it can possibly irritate people who aren't good with any kind of fragrance so please keep that in mind. The scent is very nice quality so it's not necessary to use a lot of this scent as it's noticeable, but very pleasant when used with a lighter hand and it does have a decent lasting time. The fragrance comes out in a pretty fine mist and is easy to apply over the body as well as on the pulse points. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes more powdery scents with a touch of citrus and flowers.
What I like: this scent is very nice quality, it has a pleasant and classy type of powdery slightly sweet scent. The packaging is very simple but pretty, the glass bottle is very heavy and sturdy and won't break easily and the mister is quite efficient at dispensing the desired amount. What I don't like: nothing really.
Pros:
Non-drying
Classy scent
Strong scent
Nice packaging
Nice quality
Long-lasting product
Nice fragrance
Cons:
None
Would I buy again?
Maybe
Rating: 8/10
