Game Over
Tumblr media
Rating: EXPLICIT 18+ MDNI
Pairing: SNL Mario x Princess Peach! Reader
Word count: 2.3
Summary: a friendly wager over the Star Cup leads to an unexpected victory.
Warnings: pegging, anal fingering, dirty talk, drinking, flirting, butt plugs, use and abuse of video game imagery, crack fic, probably cringe. No use of y/n, reader is princess peach, but her hair, skin and body type aren’t described.
A word from the author: This is a repost! Here is my bonus contribution to the Peg That Middle Aged Man Campaign! I love this fic. This may be one of my favorite things I’ve ever written. I was giggling like an idiot the whole time I worked on it, and I’ve been dying to finally share it. Yes, it is crack, but I think it’s also kinda hot?
“You lost, Mario,” You said, running a gloved finger over the shiny button of his overalls “you know what that means. I’ll come find you later.” You winked at him over your shoulder and went to celebrate your win.
He had barely gotten out of his kart, angry at himself for losing, angry that he couldn’t react as quickly as he used to, couldn’t dodge banana peels fast enough to keep you from speeding by, a blur of pink in his peripheral.
You took your victory lap, waving gleefully from your kart, and accepted your trophy under a flurry of confetti. No mere cup could bring you as much pride as collecting your winnings from Mario, though.
Mario had accepted defeat graciously, you had won fair and square. You’re an honest woman, a good woman. Even though his cock ached at the sight of you sauntering toward him in the garage, he wanted to go back on his word, travel back in time to take back the bet, to wager something, anything else. Mario knew it was useless. He had already let his secret slip, let you know his secret desire, and now you were going to collect, going to give him everything he wanted and there was no going back. Game over.
•••••
Mario was handsome, much better looking up close where you could see the true depth of his brooding eyes, see the gray threading through his mustache, the way dirt and grease seeped into his denim and smell the engine grease, sweat, and mint that cling to him. You’d wanted him for ages, danced around each other, teasing, hinting, exchanging glances, never quite finding the right time to hook up. He was so quiet and earnest, you were exuberant and bold. Fire and water, to be certain. What do Fire and Water make if not steam, though and last night the pot was about to boil over when you’d met up with a few other drivers before the Special Cup race. Friendly wagers weren’t uncommon and everyone was in high spirits after a tough series of other races. Competition was fierce and only the best of the best were left.
Glasses were filled and drained and filled again, and you were feeling buzzy and alive when you spotted the sometimes plumber on the outside of the small crowd. His eyes were shiny and his cheeks and chest were flushed pink from so many toasts to his opponents. He raised his glass when your eyes met, drawing you to him. “Luigi just bet an entire week’s pay on the first race.” He teased. Luigi was swaying on his feet, smiling and holding Yoshi for balance. “What did you wager, Mario?” You asked, knowing as well as he did that Luigi wasn’t ever going to beat Mario. “Told him I’d give him the business if he won.” Your jaw dropped in faux surprise, and you smacked him lightly on the arm. His arm. Maybe you’d drank a bit too much too, but it was so solid you couldn’t help but let your hand linger, squeezing it gently to feel the solid muscle. You didn’t know how long you’d stood there, gazing at his bicep, studying its strength, imagining it hooked under your knee, or lifting you against a wall, until you heard him speak. “What about you, Princess? You want to make it interesting too?” He was smirking down at you, lust glinting in his eyes.
“Yeah. Let’s make it interesting Mario. What do you want to bet?” You smirked back, tilting your head playfully, your little crown slipping to the side just slightly before you right it.
Mario adjusted his stance, squaring his shoulders and letting you drink in the great size of him, his height, the broadness of his shoulders, the taper of his waist evident even under his overalls, the softness of his belly, grown from a fondness for meatballs and pasta. His strength was tenfold, strong enough, you thought to punch through bricks if he wanted. “If I win, I’m gonna take you out, and you’re gonna let me show you a real good time.”
His words gave you a chill that run up from the base of your spine and made your scalp tingle, leaving you a little breathless. “Yeah? And if I win, then what?” He grinned, placed a wide hand on your ruffled waist “I guess you’ll have to show me a good time.”
You could have left it at that, a flirtation without teeth, but you needed more. “What’s a good time to a guy like you, Mario?” You desperately wanted to know now.
“C’mere, I’ll show ya.” He tugged you down a dark hallway, into the shadows, where the music and the laughter and the voices were dampened by wood paneled walls. Your hand felt small in his and for a moment his thick fingers grazed over your gloved ones, admiring the delicate fabric, how smooth and soft it was, how clean and bright it was, never a smudge of oil, not a single red drip from your glass. They were pure and pretty, just like he liked to think of you, his Princess Peach.
There in the dark he locked you into a kiss, scratched by his mustache and soothed by his tongue, you could only let go and let him take you.Hiking your skirt higher, he nipped at your neck. He kissed wetly along your jaw, and breathed into your ear just as you felt the solid heft of his hard cock come to rest over your clothed cunt. Even under his overalls you could estimate his size. “Is that a pipe in your pocket?” You tease, rolling your hips against him.
Mario hummed. “I’m a plumber, Princess. Lay a lot of pipe. Good at it too.” He continued to kiss you, grunting in frustration at the voluminous skirt keeping him from getting his hands on your ass. “Fabric.” He mutters. “Impractical.” You lean back, smiling at his eagerness and the hunger in his eyes. You gathered the fabric of his very practical overalls at either side of his hips, pulling the material taut over his straining cock. He rocked his hips forward, begging for release. You wondered what he was wearing under there. It would be so easy to find out, just unclip his straps and they'd probably fall to his ankles. Your mouth watered, but senses prevailed and you remembered your wager. “And when I win, Mario? Are you going to let me bring out my pipe?”
You didn’t really expect it would happen. Sure, Bowser loved bouncing on your cock, let you take him all over the castle, begged for it. “Fuck me, Princess, please!” He bellowed. Mario though? For lack of a better term, you never pegged him as one to let a woman dick him down. You fully expected to suck his cock or let him fuck you hard and fast, maybe take your panties as a bonus prize. Here he is though, lips parted, eyebrows furrowed. “That what you want, Peach? You think you can give it to me right?” His voice grew deeper and you knew the surprise was written over your face. “Know I can. I think once you get it you’ll throw every race just to get it again, too.”
That had your opponent groaning and bucking against you, hard and leaking.
You licked your lips, quickly flicked your gaze from his eyes to his lips and back again, and leaned close to let your lips brush the shell of his ear. “Save it for the race, Mario. Better get a good night’s rest.” And with that you slipped back out into the raucous crowd, little crown bobbing along with each step across the room and out he door, gone before he could respond.
•••••
In the dark, warm garage, you found Mario wiping down his kart with a rag, his movements slow and practiced, methodical, buffing until the red paint gleamed, reflecting the moment he saw you standing behind him. He tossed the rag into a bin and smiled, lopsided and a little shy. He shifted his weight and wiped his hands on his pants. “Here to make good on the wager or you want to go double or nothing?”
“I want my prize now, Mario. Unless you’re going to renege.” Your voice was soft and sweet, and as you spoke you closed in, helping yourself to a generous feel of his chest, his biceps, and down his strong forearms before you pulled them around your waist and stood on the tiptoes to reach up for a kiss from his hot and willing lips.
His kiss was searing and deep, you’d like to stay locked with him like this forever, but there was business to attend to first. Deftly, you unsnapped the hooks holding up his dusty overalls, letting them sag low on his hips.
Mario’s head spun. He had given the race his all, determined to bury himself in you to the hilt and fuck you mercilessly until you screamed his name and soaked his cock. He was certain of his victory, but something in the back of his mind gave him pause. A little what if…
And so when you spun the defeated man around, guiding him to lean against the hood of the kart and reaching between his endearingly small ass, you found he was ready for you. Throughout the race, Mario had worn his favorite butt plug, the one that fit with just the right stretch and was adorned with a happy little golden star atop the flared base.
Your heart pounded. He had prepared for you. He knew you were his most formidable opponent and he knew he could very well lose. Your heart sang in your chest. Holding back a delighted giggle, you tugged gently at the plug, making him moan and sigh. You steadied him with a hand on his hips and carefully worked the plug free, tossing it into the bin with the rag, more clean up for later.
From your purse, you fetched a small bottle, laying it on the hood right where Mario could see it, then stepped out of your full, ruffled skirt, revealing that you, too, were prepared. You’d driven to glory with the red and white polka dotted cock resting heavy on your thighs, hidden by your skirt, but urging you to your win, reminding you what awaited. You took the bottle and drizzled the cool green lubricant into your hand. Mario watched, eyes fixed on your strap on. Only closing them when he felt you press one, then two fingers into his tight ass. Gently you stroked him, letting him adjust to you, letting him push back onto your hand with a soft whine.
With every move, his overalls clinked against the side of the vehicle, soon drowned out by his wanton moans and curses. “Fuck, Peach. Fuck, ohh..”
“How’s that feel, baby? That good? Do you need more?”
Mario nodded, swallowing thickly, breathing heavily.
“More. Please.”
You shoved his red shirt up his back and kissed along his spine, easing in a third finger. As he relaxed into your movements you found a rhythm, fucking him with your fingers, praising him, kissing him anywhere you could reach, and taking his big, callused hand when he reached for yours.
When you felt him begin to clench, you pulled away. “No, Mario. You’re not coming yet. Don’t you dare.” You didn't win this race to just finger his asshole. You coated the mushroom head of your silicone cock and nudged it against his warp zone. “You gotta come on my cock. You want that, baby? Want me to fuck you now? Really properly fuck you?”
Again he nodded, and you smacked his ass. “Need to hear you say it, Mario. Do you want my cock?”
“Yes. Yes. Want you to fuck me, Princess. Please. Fuck!”
Desperation looked good on him, but so did euphoria, so you guided your thick, dotted cock into him and watched in awe as the ring of muscle stretched to take you, pulling you in, it seemed. Aided by the generous drizzle of thick, green lube, you rocked into him until your hips were flush with his ass. You stayed there, letting him adjust, head dropped forward, letting the pleasure wash over him.
He felt so full. His cock dripped precome down the gleaming side panel, and he began to move his hips, winding them a little back and then a little forward, slow and steady, “Move for me, Peach. Fuck me. I can take it.”
You increased your pace, fucking his ass a little harder, a little faster, a little deeper, but keeping control. “Doing so good for me, Mario.” You praised. “Look so sexy taking this cock. My pussy is so wet. Do you know what you do to me? Letting me fuck you like this? Taking my pipe?” Your words and praise swirled in his mind and suddenly your hand was around his cock, stroking him, twisting with each pass up his shaft as you buried your cock deep and gave only shipper, pulsing thrusts. “Need you to come for me. Come and I’ll let you eat my pussy.”
His orgasm was instantaneous, thick ropes of spend dripped down the side of his kart, desecrating the shiny finish, but he didn’t care. He slumped forward as you slipped out of him, sated and happy, aching in the best way.
You came back, kissing him again, passing him a clean cloth to clean himself up, thanking him for an invigorating race and an unforgettable night.
Hopping up onto the hood, you laid back, wearing your gloves and crown and nothing else, “You finished first this round, Mario. Now it’s my turn.”
He spread your knees with strong hands, “Let’s a-go!”

The atmosphere in your home is…
Wrong.
It feels more than wrong when you come home, trailing behind your stolen body like a lost kite caught in an errant breeze.
See, your home (the Warren) is an extension of you, it didn’t start out that way but after a decade of being soaked in your magic and emotions it is now just as weird and alive as you are. It’s nice having a house that can grow and shuffle rooms around as needed, or a hundred other needlessly whimsical things a normal house can’t do like hot milk drawers or root cellars that are secretly forests.
You love the Warren and it loves you back with every brick and tile, every floor and ceiling, every washroom and hidden staircase.
It loves you, it loves you and you’ve brought a monster to its door.
The ground shivers, shudders like skin caressed by cold hands as your body steps over the wardline at the edge of your property. This place is a part of you and it Knows that something is so terribly wrong, but it can’t stop the you that is Not You. This place Knows that body, Knows every scar and scrape, every dent in the plating beneath your skin, every wire snaking through your skull just as well as you do.
Oh it Knows you, and it missed you.
You were only gone for a few days, but how it missed you. Pipes flowed with saltwater tears, vents rattled like sobbing throats, walls bruised and blackened with sorrow and mold. Not even the hand of a certain plumber the house has always had a crush on could soothe the hurt for long, could stave off the snotty leaks, or the wallpaper that faded and peeled like old skin.
The front door slams open, wide and waiting, like the arms of a child begging for a hug. The door trembles on its hinges, so scared but so excited. It can feel Zilch piloting your body, it can sense your aimless ghost following behind it and it knows it should shut itself tight but…
But it missed you, and now you’re home.
Zilch sweeps across the threshold like he owns the place, and you can feel the Warren reel in his wake, disoriented, dizzy, and Sick. As sick as you felt watching that bastard ogle your body like meat.
You want him dead.
And he knows that, glancing back at your ghost he smiles just enough to make you want to strangle him. The farther he goes into your home the more your home freaks out and tries to expel the intruder in ways that won’t hurt you directly. Rooms shuffle, hallways squirm and branch like veins beneath skin, pipes rattle and burst, spilling salt water and mucus. It’s very hard to be intimidating when you don’t have any hands, and all your servants are cute little dishes with kitty paws or bird legs.
Even if that wasn’t the case, you doubt Zilch would give much of a fuck.
He finds Adrian before you do, drinking alone in some lonely darkened corner, looking leagues more pathetic than when you’d originally left him.
The house freaks out just a little bit more and manages to shuffle two rooms together right as Zilch starts to approach your beloved husbeast, sliding whatever private side room your wife Jeanne had been in into this one. For a second you hope that was intentional on the house’s part, safety in numbers and all that.
Jeanne’s drinking too, but because it's her day off and not because she’s got unresolved emotional issues like Adrian.
Last weekish (time is weird and wobbly where you live and you do not respect it as a concept), you and Adrian had a fight. It wasn’t even a fight really, it's not like he put his hands on you at any point, it was just an argument that got out of hand really fast.
He was off in a corner being his usual brooding gloomy self and you’d just gotten out of a long-winded meeting that could have been an email, you admit that you were agitated at the time and maybe even a little bitey feeling but you were doing your best not to take it out on anybody that didn’t deserve it.
"Why do you even bother with me?" Adrian had said from his darkened depression corner.
"You're my husbeast and I love you, why wouldn't I bother?" You’d said, eyebrows furrowed.
"Because I am moody and not fun." And he’d looked at you with those pretty golden eyes of his, so full of sorrow and self hatred like always, and instead of melting like normal you just… simmered like milk waiting to boil over.
"You have depression and probably ptsd, you had to kill your own dad??" You’d wandered over to him, to touch him, to be with him and he’d stiffened at your approach. Adrian was, and is, a complicated little bastard with layers upon layers of traumas and complexes smashing him flat like a poor man’s Atlas, so you did your best to make him feel loved and included no matter what. Taking him out to little lunch dates, or staying in and having a spa night, just anything to make him realize that his presence is always wanted no matter what the awful voices in his head might say.
You looked at him, a sudden horror dawning that you might be taking this whole thing too far and maybe what he really needed was some alone time. "If you don't want to hang out, you can just say that, I always feel like I'm bothering you anyway."
"You are not. I am the one who is a burden." Came the reply
You’d dragged your hands down your face, horrors be damned,  "You're not a fucking burden, you're my husband who i love and adore and would tear the world apart for!"
It only got worse from there.
You still aren’t sure HOW exactly, but it’s not like that matters anymore. Things were said, words hurled like knives and acid that ate you down to the bone and left you raw, wishing he’d just HIT YOU and be done with it.
Sometimes you lie awake at night at your mom’s house and wonder if he HAD hit you if this would have turned out a lot better.
You can handle being hit, you know how to hit back after all.
Maybe if you had just stayed and knocked some sense into him, none of this would have happened.
Then you remember the way he looked at you, eyes burning like embers, bloody tears running down his face as he loomed over you the way a wolf looms over a rabbit that’s too stupid and too scared to run and he’d said, “You would make a perfect vampire.” Each word hot iron to your hearts, hatred given shape and substance. “Is it any wonder why you get along so well with my father, you both share the same greed and entitlement, you think this word revolves around you and everyone else is just something for you to play with until you’ve used us all up and hungrily move on to the next bright and shiny thing.”
You couldn’t speak, eyes stinging with fresh tears.
And then you ran, you ran all the way to your mother’s like a frightened child and you hid there for days. Wallowing in your shame.

Note
From your Mixed-Bag Sentence Starters post: "No time to explain, get in!", but it's just DK taking Mario out for a date in a place where they wouldn't be disturbed.
(And maybe it ends with a make-out session because there is a sincere lack of Mariokong content in this fandom, and I'm starting to feel deprived-)
//aw-...dn't worry bb I got u. 𝐌𝐈𝐗𝐄𝐃-𝐁𝐀𝐆 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒
It wouldn't be a proper Kong hosted kart-race without some monkey business. Said business entailing that all racers made it their personal mission to see to it that their sole guest participant from the Mushroom Kingdom was thoroughly given enough attention at the event. Meaning - the point of the race shifted from anyone winning to just making sure Mario didn't. And honestly, DK was not about to interfere with that energy, though the thought of trying to win the race instead of watch the ah..."festivities" going on along the track was definitely his lowest priority over the latter.
By the time Mario had been bashed a few times by fellow karts, and even trapped between two for a while to help guide him into some banana peels along the track on purpose, it was soon all over for the other when his kart came to a puttering halt...tires too gummed up from countless banana peels to continue without a pit stop. But seeing as how Mario had relinquished himself to resting his chin heavily into an open glove and grumbling to himself about 'fatherless monkeys' in Italian, it was evident he would be tapping out of the race early and hiking back to town along the dusty track.
Well, until DK rolled up and happily slammed on his brakes to slide a donut around Mario's banana-beached kart to churn up some dust around the plumber and leave him coughing and swatting the air to clear it faster. A glower followed. "DK! C'mon, I'm not even racing anymore. No thanks to YOUR buddies-"
"Heh! What can I say...they don't like outsiders winning our competitions." With a smug expression that only served to rub salt in the wound further, DK leans back in his kart, one hand poised cockily on the wheel. "Now that you're out, they can finally start having some fun!"
"Well good!" Mario spat back, already trying to untangle himself from his seatbelt as he worked on making a hasty retreat from the vehicle in case the racers looped around and decided he was still a ramp to try and launch off of. "Why don't you go and JOIN them then?"
The smirk DK wore slid into more of a smile, though still heavily smitten with amusement as he watched the other struggle to free himself. The way that Mario tried to hoist a leg over the door only to catch his ankle on the way over and flop down onto his hip only caused the Kong to chuckle. His kart tires shifted slightly in the dirt as it creeped forward and sidled up beside Mario now struggling to stand quickly and dust off his knees while his cheeks burned the same color as his outfit.
"Awh, aren't you just a ball of sunshine today~? Ehh, I don't need to hang with those nerds. Besides, I'm gonna lose too many laps to win now that I gotta kart your ass down the mountain." He added, waiting to see if Mario even heard him since the plumber was already trying to set off on his own down the track towards the moon where it lay in the sky waiting for dark to fall further.
Pausing momentarily once the slew of Italian curses in his brain had died down, Mario glanced over his shoulder to question the Kong with a quirked brow.
DK merely waved the other over while expelling an impatient sigh. "No time to explain...just get in!"
The ride down the mountain was a bit rough given DK's customization on his kart this go round, and he wasn't trying to hide that by purposefully hitting every bump in the road and swerving unnecessarily as if he were trying to come up with the best way to launch Mario out of the kart.
Mario simply busied himself with white knuckling the dash board and muttering under his breath in Italian about really not wanting to die today. With his eyes screwed shut, he didn't notice the sudden turn DK took off the main track, nor the sudden drop earned from driving casually off a cliff and dropping into a parachute glide towards a glittering glade below.
The landing is a watery one, but the flooded glade itself is at most ankle-deep. Once he'd turned the kart off and hopped out to a wet landing on his feet, DK snorted when he noticed Mario was still death clutching the kart, face frozen in a grimace and eyes screwed shut.
"Careful, your face'll stick like that." DK grinned, sidling around the kart until he could give Mario's hat a pop forward to knock it into his eyes. "C'mon, loser. We're here."
It was only after he had to straighten his hat out did Mario stir, seemingly taking his first breath since they'd first hit a turn too hard and sputtering through it. "You're nuts! I thought you were supposed to be dropping me off, not drOPPING me-ah off a mountain side?!" Shifting his frustration towards the slowly retreating Kong, Mario can't help but blink and look around at the area. "This isn't-...uh."
The glade is flooded with shallow waters, and ripples are left behind DK's feet and fist as he sloshed forward and turned to give Mario a raised brow. "You coming, or what?"
"...coming to what?" Mario grumbled, throwing himself up over the kart and thankfully not landing on his face this time. Though his knees hit the shallow water briefly before rose and stumbled over to the Kong's side. "This isn't the place we all started in, if you didn't notice."
A snort and a head shake later, DK doesn't spare the other's proddings a glance as he heads towards the center of the large, watery circle in the middle of the forest. "Whaaat? I had no idea. Thanks for telling me where things are in my own damned kingdom." He added, stopping after a moment when they'd made it more to the center of the glade when they were equal distance from every wall of trees in the distance, which was oddly far - perhaps a half mile of nothingness but the subtle shine of the water in the developing moonlight. "Heh. Can't you just chill for a minute? I was gonna show you a reason to come out here some time."
"Hmm?" Expression flustered out of annoyance for the Jungle Kingdom prince's persistence in poking fun at his expense, Mario couldn't help but feel a bit curious about the random bog they seemed to be sloshing around in. "A reason to come out to some wet nothingness and stand around in the dark?"
"I mean...I wouldn't be against that either." DK joked, though he pushed its authenticity by reaching out to scoot a large paw behind the other's lower back and drag him in close to the Kong's side. Once in place, DK rose onto his hind legs and waited.
"U-uh?" Mario questioned the action, eyes swiveling from DK to behind his shoulder where the other's palm rested against his back. A gloved hand rises to cup his own cheek again and lean into it, sighing. "You're always so difficult, you know?"
"Walking back and waiting in the kart is like the least difficult thing you've had to do today. But I guess you're too curious to do that, huh?" DK knew he was right too when Mario's core temperature seemed to rise a degree or two under his palm. Which wasn't the worst thing for the flare up of racer's wrist he had going on and now had a willing participant to stand there while he ground his wrist in place against rough denim.
"Maybe not..." Mario changed his mind with a shrug, though to what, DK couldn't be sure.
"Come again?" He pushed, glancing down and finding it hard to see much of the other except the sheen from his eyes pouring through the deepening night.
"Well-" He was cut off by a sudden intrusion of lights - each a shade of pink or soft purple lighting up one by one around them and spreading out across the barren landscape only to show it wasn't as barren as he thought in the dark. For the half mile all around them, water lillies bloomed and their petals seemed to almost absorb the moonlight above until they radiated a portion themselves, dying it the color of their petals. "Wow-...there's so many."
DK nodded, somewhat smug the other seemed so impressed that he'd even forgotten to relay his earlier comment. Not that DK was going to let him. "-hey. You were saying?" Now able to see his company a little clearer thanks to the field of flower lights, DK leaned down to hear better, his tie's end draping until it tickled the back of Mario's neck.
With a swat or two that turned into a half-hearted grab and squeeze of the cloth, Mario sighed and tilted his head up to regard the Kong with one eye open, though its shade under the soft pink and purple hues almost seemed a shade of lavender than blue. "...I just meant that-...you know!" Frustrated, he squished his feet up and down in the flooded ground, he finally opted for pressing his cheek into his gloved hand again - this time with the DK imprinted end of the tie included. "...'the easiest thing'? It's...being out here with you."
DK had already turned his attention down and reddened noting the fate of his tie. Though instead of wresting it back and give a warning growl, he decided he was fine with the arrangement for now. Well, until he realized he could lean his head back and slowly lift Mario off his feet as long as the other held on to the tie.
A little 'hup' from Mario and a surprised kick towards the ground that once held him was his last duty for standing that night as far as DK was concerned as the Kong took a moment to balance large hands beneath the other's hamstrings and then scooted him up against his chest to rest in place. Though there was little resting at first when DK took the moment to lean in and grumble. "...I'm 'easy', huh?"
Tumblr media
"Oh come on-...not what I meant!" Mario protested only to soon find his face pressed close to DK's while the Kong prince smiled briefly before pressing in to pass it to Mario's mouth. Well - his mustache first since it was in the way.
Tumblr media
For the moment they remain locked together, DK only moved to hike the other up higher when he felt Mario's gloves gripping at the fur along the back of his neck and hanging on tight, and only slid his tongue forward to meet the breathy exhale Mario emitted, mid-break in contact that left them both a second for air before their mouths began a round of crashing quietly together as the distant sounds of karts crashing continued on into the night.

And Baby Makes Five (A Ghost and Molly McGee Oneshot)
Summary: Settling in for the first night in their Forever Home, Pete and Sharon talk about the elephant in the room.
Or, rather, the ghost in the attic.
(AO3 format here!)
Draughty windows, peeling paint, that squeaky third stair, get wiring checked and call a plumber for the downstairs bathroom. The routine was so familiar to Pete that he found himself taking stock of all potential expenses automatically, dividing them by matter of importance. The same habit in every house, instinctive and methodical. Hopefully, this would be the last time he had to perform this little song and dance.
Not even a single night into their Forever Home and already the expenses were piling up. He knew they’d gotten the house on a bargain, but they’d probably be paying the difference in repairs alone.
Something to think about another day. For now, all their things safely inside (they’d learned their lesson after the first time their car had been broken into), the McGees had settled for the evening, enthusiasm growing with every item that found a place on a shelf or on a wall or in a corner. Their new house, their last new house, claimed by knickknacks and reminders.
The sound of socked feet pulled Pete from his reverie. Molly made her way down from the attic, taking the ladder facing forward in a display of agility that he himself had long lost to age. Had he ever been that young? “Brushed your teeth already? I think the toiletries are hidden somewhere under mom’s decorative pillows.
She smiled widely, showing off a gleaming grin. “Nope, already done! I’m just going down to make Scratch some tacos.”
Ah, yes, the other unexpected expense. Pete had thus far put ‘exorcist’ into the ‘possible’ category. While the ghost (an actual ghost!) had made himself a nuisance during the move-in, tossing items around and doing his best to make things as inconvenient as possible, an uncertain feeling stilled Pete’s hand whenever he thought to reach for the phone. Scratch had never actually made any threats against his family, much less followed through, and Pete remained cautiously hopeful. “Ah, bribery! It’s always worked for me!”
“Also I think he just hasn’t had a home-cooked meal in a long time.”
None of them knew how long, despite Molly’s persistent questioning during the day, and Pete sobered at the thought. He held out a hand to pause her descent down the stairs. “Molly, I know you’re excited at having a ghost friend, I would be too.” He set a hand on her shoulder, oddly aware of the way his brow furrowed as he held his daughter’s searching stare. “But remember, if he ever invades your space, or makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, I want you to come tell me or mom, okay?”
He was being a diligent father, taking necessary precautions with a stranger around his children, but something unpleasant curled in his chest as the words left his mouth. For some reason, irrational and naïve as it was, he felt this conversation was unneeded. The impression he’d gotten from Scratch, while surly and churlish, was not one of malice. His head said you’re being too trusting while his gut said Scratch would never harm them.
Molly seemed to agree, expression growing increasingly scandalized with every word, and by the end of the sentence she was shaking her head vehemently. “No, no, dad, he would never hurt me, we’re best friends!” (Something about that sat oddly too.) “And besides, we barged into his house. If anyone’s feeling uncomfortable, it’s him! He says we can stay on a trial basis, but we have to be good neighbours if we’ll be sharing our Forever Home.”
Parenting on the whole was a mixed bag of anxiety and mistakes and panic, but moments like these soothed Pete’s fearful heart. With a kid like Molly, he and Sharon must be doing something right. “Well, if anyone can get through to him, it’s you. Still, I’ll be here if you ever need me. And tell him thank you, for giving us a chance.”
Molly clicked her tongue, shooting him a fingerguns before continuing her happy skip down the stairs. What had he done to deserve such amazing kids?
And of course, an amazing wife. As Pete entered into their room, Sharon knelt on the floor by the mattress, folding the last of the day’s laundry into the loose dresser drawers stacked against the wall. Right, first thing on the docket tomorrow was reassembling the dresser. Who wanted centipedes in their shirts?
Sharon glanced up at his entry. “That was Molly? How’s she doing?”
Pete hooked a thumb over his shoulder, indicating through the closed door. “Just passed her, she seemed chipper as ever. Was going to make our phantasmic friend some tacos.”
Sharon sighed. “I’ll go clean up the kitchen when she’s done.” Her eyes strayed up to the ceiling even as her hands occupied themselves with pulling a pant leg rightside out. “At least he’s stopped screaming.”
At the tail end of the day, after it became clear he couldn’t scare them out, Scratch had retreated to the attic and taken to creating the most horrible, hair-raising noises without pause, moans rattling through the support beams like the whole house was coming alive beneath them. Pete just hoped he hadn’t shifted the supports too much, the foundation was sketchy enough as is.
“I know that look,” Sharon interjected as Pete lowered himself onto the edge of the mattress, knees clicking in complaint. “You did the checklist, didn’t you. How bad is it?”
Any other house, Pete would’ve gone through the list of expenses, and the first night would be spent with Sharon, huddling over their monthly budget and prioritizing bills until the wee hours of the morning. But this was their Forever Home. They could go one night without worrying about money.
He tried a reassuring smile. “It’s not awful. Look, I know it’s not exactly what we were expecting, but it won’t be all bad.” His grin widened to something realer, cheeky. “And the neighbours are definitely a spectre-cle—”
Sharon beaned him in the face with a balled up shirt, but even though the folds of soft, laundry scented cotton Pete could hear her stifled snort. He folded the shirt, working alongside his wife in neat, even movements before speaking again, this time more serious. “If he’s really a problem though, honey, we can—”
She turned on him, eyes blazing, brandishing a sock like a sword. “Peter McGee, we are not kicking that boy out of his own house!”
His hands shot up in defense. “That’s not what I was suggesting!” He backtracked, erasing ‘exorcist’ off the expenses list. (Definite pros there, apparently they weren’t cheap.) “Besides, have you seen how protective he is of this place? It would be like having a bodyguard.”
Sharon hummed in agreement, settling back on her haunches again. “Molly seems to like him.”
There was more there. Pete gave a pointed pause. “And what do you think of our new houseguest?”
“I think he’s here to stay, and we won’t get anywhere near a peaceful place with him if we consider him a houseguest. He’s a resident, just as much as we are.”
Pete recognized the purse of her lips, and sat quietly and patiently as she gathered her more complicated thoughts. She blew a deep sigh out through her nose. “Please don’t think I’m crazy.”
He put a hand over his heart, serious as the grave (ha ha). “I would never!”
She rewarded him with another shirt to the face. “Hardy-har har. In Thai culture, ghosts usually stick around either because they’re protecting something, or they’ve met an ugly end.” Her hands stilled, a cardigan unfolded over her knees. “Whatever Scratch’s reason is, something about him strikes me as… incredibly sad.”
Pete rested his cheek on a fist. “You too, huh?”
“I don’t know what it is,” Sharon resumed her folding with more force than strictly necessary. “But he’s here, and so are we. As long as he doesn’t hurt the kids—and I don’t think he will—” she interrupted at Pete’s opening mouth, “then Scratch is just as home as we are.”
A thump above them indicated Molly had closed the attic hatch, followed closely by her energetic speech. While too muffled to make out whole words, Pete heard Scratch’s excited answer, much more diluted than his previous screaming.
“She soothed the savage beast,” Sharon commented amusedly, apparently having noted the exchange too. She finished with the folding and joined him on the mattress, turning off the light on the way.
“Kitchen?”
“I’ll do it tomorrow. Maybe Scratch will want a midnight snack.”
They crawled under the covers, still musty smelling from the moving van, listening to the conversation above their heads for a moment. Nice as it was now, they’d probably need to soundproof the attic somehow. Add that to the expenses list.
“She sounds so much happier,” said Sharon in a tone so caring that Pete’s eyes welled up.
Beneath the blankets, he reached for Sharon’s hand. “Maybe this’ll be a blessing. Molly’s been without a steady friend for so long.”
She snorted again, the sound made quieter by onset drowsiness. “Maybe her perspective will start to rub off on him.”
Somehow, the acceptance eased a tightness in Pete’s heart he hadn’t before realized was there. “So it’s official. Whether he likes it or not, Scratch is a McGee now.”
“He’s under our roof, he takes our name.”
“Figuratively, if he likes his own surname better.”
“I was trying to be poetic and metaphorical, Pete.”
Despite the thumps and laughter from above, a sleepy fog settled over the two of them. Eyes drooping, already starting to succumb to the exhaustion of the day, Pete huffed a laugh. “You know, I always thought we’d planned to stop at two.”
Sharon matched his chuckle, curling up against his side. “Well, you know what they say: the third is always a happy accident.”

Chapter 8
“So, this friend of yours. Who is it that got captured by Bowser?” Donkey asked as he, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad were sitting around a table having some breakfast. The table consisted of bananas. Lots and lots of bananas. The dining room they were in was large and matched the rest of the jungle décor that was found throughout the large castle.
“It was our new friend Y/N. She comes from the same place as Mario and Luigi,” Peach answered.
“Ah. I see. I bet this is all a trap.”
“It has to be.”
“We have to get her back though. One way or another,” Mario said.
The doors to the dining room burst open with such force. Luigi and Toad jumped in fright from two guard Kongs coming in.
“Your highness, there are some Koopas here attacking the city,” one of them spoke, clearly out of breath.
“There’s a lot of them. They’re pillaging everything!” The other guard spoke.
Donkey sighed, “Great. Let’s just hope a few karts were done before they got here. Gather more guards for battle.”
“Yes, your majesty,” both guards replied and scurried out of the dining room.
“Ugh! What a pain!” Toad said.
“Yeah, really,” Luigi agreed.
“We need to get moving. I knew Dad was going to get up early along with a few of the mechanics to work on the karts this morning.” Donkey got up from his seat and everyone followed behind him.
Everyone made their way toward the garage where karts were built. It thankfully hadn’t been broken into and a good number of karts were finished. A lot of them had guns that shot out banana peels, turtle shells, and coconuts. They also were large, and some could seat up to four people.
“These are looking good!” Donkey said as he inspected some of them.
“Yep, just finished the last one,” Cranky replied.
“That’s great! We need to get going and help the city. Koopas are here attacking.”
Cranky’s eyes widened, “Yes, let’s go. Everyone! Pick your karts and hustle!”
The mechanics along with several other Kongs were scrambling around, picking out karts that would best fit them. While everyone was doing that, Peach, Mario, Luigi, and Toad had headed out of the garage to help some of the guards fight off the Koopas. Power ups were used along the way by the princess and her three companions. The Koopas had broken into the stadium and had grabbed some of the power ups that were left in there from the previous day.
With most of the Koopas knocked down, the Kongs in their karts came out and shot down more of the enemy. Peach opened up the entry doors of the kingdom and saw that the Yoshies were unharmed. Relieved, she climbed up onto her pink Yoshi. Mario, Luigi, and Toad got to their Yoshies and climbed up. The Kongs in the karts had used a different exit/entrance area made specially for karts. They met up with Peach and the others.
“Alright. To Bowser’s Castle everyone! Let’s go!” Peach shouted as she got her Yoshi going. Everyone followed her as she led the way.
A crowd of turtles was waiting for the princess, plumbers, Kongs, and mushroom man not too far ahead of them. The turtles had spears at the ready with a few of the turtles hovering in the air with their white wings keeping them aloft and weapons out.
“We can do this!” Peach said encouragingly.
“Attack!” Cranky shouted.
Everyone started attacking the turtles. Spears flew and coconuts hit the turtles. Banana peels were shot out to have the turtles on the ground trip over them. Shells were fired at the turtles which made them extremely angry. Yoshies were jumping, dodging, shooting eggs, and ground-pounding whenever they could.
“Lu! Behind you!” Mario shouted as he could see a couple of turtles trying to sneak up on the plumber in green.
Luigi turned around, had his Yoshi jump up and ground-pound the turtles, “Phew! Thanks Mario!”
Mario shot a quick smile to his brother before taking care of more turtles.
Toad was struggling a bit, but eventually was able to get the Yoshi to do the ground-pound on a turtle. He then moved over to where Peach was as she was surrounded by six turtles.
“Need some help, Princess?” Toad asked.
“Yes. Let’s get rid of these guys!” Peach answered.
She and Toad worked on getting their Yoshies to coordinate the ground-pound move. The pink Yoshi used ground-pound and laid an egg to shoot at one of the other turtles. Toad’s yellow Yoshi followed the moves of the pink one. Everything looked good until more Koopas arrived.
“C’mon! Is this ever going to end?!” Toad asked frustrated.
The princess glared at the crowd coming and before she could move herself and her Yoshi, spears were flown and landed in a circle around her. Her eyes widened and her Yoshi panicked from almost getting skewered.
“The king wants to see you at his castle right away,” a Koopa wearing blue armor and a blue shell said. He walked up to the circle of spears that surrounded Peach and the pink Yoshi.
Peach gave a glare to the blue Koopa, “That’s exactly where we’re going.”
“His majesty wanted us to bring you to him specifically if we happened to see you.” The blue Koopa had more troops surround Mario, Luigi, Toad, and the Kongs, “If you refuse to come with me, we’ll turn your companions into shish kabobs. You wouldn’t want that would you?”
Peach was infuriated, but not surprised, that the Koopas would go this far. She knew everyone was starting to get tired from the fighting. They had been at it for a while now. She didn’t want to see them get hurt. She glanced behind her at everyone and stared into Mario’s eyes.
Mario’s gaze at the princess showed concern but understanding. He nodded his head telling her to surrender.
“Okay. I will come with you,” Peach responded. “Do not hurt them.” She got off her Yoshi.
“Worry not. They’ll be fine,” the blue shell Koopa said.
A cage was brought out and some of the Koopas went to remove their spears. Peach was put inside the cage. The pink Yoshi tried to follow the princess but was pushed back by some of the troops.
“Princess!” Toad shouted as he had tried to get his Yoshi moving. He wanted to go after her, but Mario on his red Yoshi stood in front of them. He shook his head no to the mushroom man. Toad made fists, hung his head low and then stared up at where the princess was in the cage.
Peach looked back at Toad with saddened eyes, but soon turned her expression into a smile. She wanted to give them hope that everything would be okay.
The Koopas soon started walking or flying off. There were four Koopas who carried the princess away by air. They knew their king wouldn’t want to wait too long to see the princess. Meanwhile, other troops were scattering about to try and find more power ups to search for the SuperStar.
The Kongs all were worn out from the driving and shooting at their enemy. The Yoshies were exhausted from the physical work they did. Mario, Luigi, and Toad had gotten off their Yoshies and let them rest.
“So, now we have two people captured. That’s just fantastic,” Donkey said.
“We need to head over to the castle. They’ll be expecting us,” Cranky replied. “For now, let’s all catch our breath and fix up the karts if they need any fixing. Luckily, we’re not too far away from our kingdom.”
All the Kongs got out of their karts and rested under some nearby trees for shade. The plumbers, mushroom man, and Yoshies did the same.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lava castle came into Peach’s view, and she sighed irritably. At least she should be able to see Y/N. She hoped Y/N was okay. The four Koopas who were carrying her cage slowed their wings down and landed gently on the ground. They walked toward the towering doors, and they opened thanks to two guards who were right there. The Koopas walked inside and toward the throne room.
Peach took in her surroundings. It hadn’t been too long ago that she was in Bowser’s place. Although last time, his place had been a floating island with some of the same scenery. This time, the castle was back in the ground. She wasn’t sure if Bowser had two different castles or if this one in the ground was the same as the floating island one.
It shouldn’t matter though. What did matter was making sure that Y/N was alright and settling whatever scheme Bowser had up his sleeve. Two other large doors greeted the Koopas and Peach and they again opened with ease by two other guards. Seated on the throne at the other end of the room was Bowser with Kamek standing beside the throne.
He had left his piano room and decided to go to his throne room for a bit. He had then been informed by his intelligence team about the capture of the princess. So here he was, happily waiting for her. His eyes softened at seeing his Peaches. He was thrilled to have her in his sight again.
“Princess Peach. Wonderful to make your acquaintance again,” Bowser said as he got up from his chair and the cage was set down.
The princess gave Bowser a disgusted look, “Enough of the pleasantries. Where is Y/N?” She stood up in her cage, wrapping her hands around the iron bars.
“Relax, relax. All in good time. She is fine. She resides in the dungeon below,” Bowser answered.
“Bowser, what is it that you want this time?” Peach wanted to get straight to the point.
“Cutting corners I see,” Bowser smirked. He found Peach attractive when she was angry. “It’s really simple my dear.” He began walking closer to the cage as she narrowed her eyes to him.
“You see,” Bowser began. “What I want is…to show you how much you mean to me.”
“By keeping me in a cage?” Peach asked with irritation.
“No. Of course not. I will have you released from there.” Bowser turned to Kamek, motioning for him to come to where he and the princess were.
The MagiKoopa followed his king’s command and met up with them.
“Release the princess from her cage and bind her wrists,” Bowser said.
“Y-Yes, Sire,” Kamek said. He used his wand to open the cage door and immediately sent out pink bindings around Peach’s wrists. Her arms were forced behind her back with her wrists tied.
Peach grimaced at the slight jolt she felt from the bindings. Unfortunately, the bindings had some lightning bolts in them. Not enough to cause severe injury, but enough to give a sting.
“That is so you don’t get any ideas about trying to escape from me,” Bowser said. “Now, transport us to the music room Kamek.”
“Right away your majesty,” Kamek said. He spun his wand and cast a transportation spell on the king and the princess.
The two were instantly taken out of the throne room and moved into the music room. A distinct clicking sound could be heard from the doors of the music room indicating that Peach was locked inside with Bowser. She saw a grand piano sitting in the middle of the room and the king walking towards the piano.
Bowser sat down and motioned for the princess to sit with him at the piano. Peach stood in her spot, not moving an inch. He grumbled and walked over to her. He picked her up causing her to gasp. He gently sat her down on top of the piano and opened the lid.
“I have a song that was written especially for you Peaches. I hope you will like it,” Bowser said as he positioned his hands above the keys.
Peach rolled her eyes and thought, ‘Great. A song to put me to sleep.’
Bowser hit the first key and then the next one with ease. The melody played softly and then he began to sing. He sang each word he and Y/N had written with all his heart. He stared at Peach as she looked at him with her eyes widened. She gasped when the scenery changed to a grassy field with a waterfall.
He continued his song looking at Peach and noticing she was paying more attention to the scenery than to him. It hurt slightly, but it was probably because she hadn’t experienced anything like this before. As he was reaching the end of the song, Peach turned to look at him. He smiled as the princess had her gaze focused on him.
He hit the last note and stared longingly into her eyes. Red clashing with blue. Peach’s expression was one of…how would Bowser describe it? Uncertainty and audacity that he would play such a lovey, dovey song for her. She felt sick.
“Princess?” Bowser asked with pleading eyes. “What did you think?”
Peach couldn’t answer right away. Why in the world was he trying to show her his affection again? She already rejected him once and when it came down to it, she wanted to do it again. “The song…has a nice melody. As for the words…No…I do not feel that way…”
Bowser could feel his heart split and crack in two. How could his song fail him? He had hoped she would’ve paid more attention to see that he would do anything and everything for her. He loved her so much. He hoped she would look past his misdeeds and give him another chance. That was not going to be the case.
He had to ask anyway though, “Does this mean you will not marry me?”
Peach looked at him with disgust, “Of course it means I will not marry you! I told you before, I do not want to marry you. I still don’t. I never will.”
Bowser felt tears pricking at the corner of his eyes. Rejected again by his love. He wanted this time to be different and the same result occurred. He growled and slammed the piano lid down. This caused Peach to jump slightly.
Bowser got up from the piano seat and looked at Peach, “Since you have once again rejected me, you should know that I have my troops ready to attack your kingdom. If you want to change your mind now, I will give you this moment to.”
Peach, once more not surprised to hear that, stared daggers into him, “You may have your troops at the entrance to my kingdom; however, you should know that my kingdom will not go down so easily. Mario, the Kongs, and everyone will be helping my kingdom and set me and Y/N free from you.”
Bowser chuckled, “Oh please. As if I didn’t see that coming. Yes Princess, I’m very aware of the Kongs and those pesky plumbers coming to your aid. I have everything sorted out for them when they arrive.”
“They’ll take your troops down. Of that, I am certain.”
“Yeah, yeah. Sure, they will. Are you certain you do not wish to change your mind?”
“Yes. My mind will not be swayed. The answer will always be no.”
“Humph. Very well then. Kamek!”
The wizard appeared in the music room, “Sire?”
“Take the princess down into the dungeon and bring Y/N to me. Inform the troops that they may attack the Mushroom Kingdom,” Bowser said.
“Right away,” Kamek replied sadly.
Bowser didn’t notice the change in tone from Kamek. He sat down in his piano seat again. Kamek had cast a spell to lift Peach up into the air from the piano and transported her and himself to the dungeon.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N had been resting against the stone wall when she heard the door to the dungeon open. She peered over to her left and saw a very familiar pink dress, “Peach?”
Peach turned to the voice, “Y/N?” She smiled at seeing the girl again. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. You? Are you…okay?”
“I’m okay.”
“In you go Princess,” Kamek said as he opened the cell next to Y/N’s. He gave the princess a gentle push. He locked the door and removed the bindings from her wrists. He then walked to Y/N’s cell. “He wishes to see you now.”
Y/N looked up at Kamek, her (eye color) eyes full of determination and some nervousness. “Okay.”
“Y/N, you shouldn’t go- “Peach tried to stop them.
“It’s okay. I must,” Y/N said.
“Why?”
“Because…I know that he…he needs someone to comfort him…” Y/N turned her gaze away from the princess. “I know that you rejected him. He sang his song for you, and you said no. I knew you would. I tried to tell him that and he didn’t listen to me.”
“Y/N, are you…are you actually friends with him?” Peach was shocked.
She turned to back to Peach, “I…I don’t know. I mean, I want…I want to be…”
“Wait. Wait a second. You want to be friends with him? Did he have his wizard brainwash you?”
Kamek gave Peach a glare, “I did no such thing.”
“He’s telling the truth,” Y/N said to Peach. “I haven’t been brainwashed. I was captured here because Bowser wanted someone to help him write his song for you. I’ll tell you everything.”
Peach sighed, “Okay. Go on.”
Y/N began, “I did help him write the song, but I felt there would be no point in it. He had been a bit rough at first with me.”
Peach stared at Y/N as she continued her story.
“We worked on the song and then he…he had me sing for him. It was to help bring some inspiration for writing the song for you. I sang the song Unconditional by Katy Perry. It was at that point that he seemed to be less aggressive with me. I was even given a room to replace the cage I was originally in.”
I got to walk around the castle and Bowser showed me his library. It was amazing. All kinds of documents and pictures about various places. We had a nice time together and I got to eat a meal with him. I really got to see his softer side.”
Peach looked at Y/N in surprise, “It sounds as though you…you have feelings for him…” She gulped, “Do you…have feelings for him?”
Y/N stared at Peach with a slight blush, “I-I…”
“Y/N, you realize what he has done right? You can’t be with someone like that. Besides, if he really has a soft side, why did he have you put into a cell? He gave you an upgrade only to downgrade your accommodations.” Peach couldn’t bear the thought of Y/N being beside the king of the Koopas. “I don’t want to see him hurt you more than he already has.”
“Peach, it’s all really complicated. I have been hurt by him, but I know he’s lonely. He wants a companion. If I could be there for him as a friend, I want to try.” Given that Y/N had more time to think over what Kamek told her earlier, she really wanted to believe him.
“Y/N please don’t go with the wizard. Stay here. Mario and the others are coming, and they’ll get us both out of here.”
“I know you’re just looking out for me, and I appreciate it, but I must go. If I don’t, I think Bowser’s heart will be in more turmoil. I know he’s hurting right now from your rejection.”
Peach stared at Y/N with concern and understanding. She sighed, “Okay. Please be careful. If he tries anything on you, run away.”
Y/N nodded to Peach.
“His majesty shall not try anything on Y/N. I think his heart will soften from her,” Kamek said. “Now, we’ve kept him waiting long enough. Let’s go Y/N.” He opened the door to Y/N’s cell, and she walked out.
Kamek and Y/N walked out of the dungeon and Y/N gave Peach a quick glance and smile. Peach stared on as the two closed the door and she slumped down, leaning against the stone wall of her cell.
‘I hope nothing happens to you Y/N,’ Peach thought.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, it’s about time you two got here,” Bowser said impatiently as Kamek and Y/N walked into the music room.”
“Apologies Sire. Y/N was speaking with the princess,” Kamek replied.
Y/N looked up at Bowser. She was a bit nervous, but she hoped to be able to give him comfort.
“I see. Leave us alone Kamek and lock the door.”
The wizard bowed and walked out of the room, locking the door. Although Bowser ordered for him to have the troops attack the Mushroom Kingdom, he decided to be nosy and listen in on Bowser’s and Y/N’s conversation. He stuck his head against the door to hear them.
“So, Y/N, you told me that the princess would like this song. The only part she enjoyed was the melody. She didn’t even like the lyrics. You ruined everything for me.”
It hurt Y/N to hear him say that to her, “Bowser, I know this is hard on you-“
“I’m not finished. You said the lyrics were much better. They weren’t coming off as being possessive. They were meaningful and had promises written within them. You call yourself a songwriter? I would say you are anything but.”
Y/N felt her body shake. This was extremely difficult to take in. She knew he was getting some of his anger out on her. The way he was going about it though was not good. It caused a sadness to build up in her. She almost couldn’t think when he said she’s not a songwriter. Music was everything to Y/N and to be insulted in such a way…she moved her down and stared at the floor. Her eyes were beginning to water.
“You have no further use for me. I will have Kamek escort you back to the dungeon,” Bowser said as he stared at Y/N’s downcast expression. He could see tears forming.
Y/N, feeling his red eyed gaze on her, lifted her head back up and the tears flowed down. Her (eye color) eyes became a lighter shade of their usual color, and she gave him a glare. “I know this hurts you deeply. I didn’t want to see your heart break. I know you’re getting your anger out on me. I’m hurting too.”
Bowser stared at Y/N intensely.
“What you said to me just now. I don’t appreciate it, but I know it’s your irritation and hurt talking. I…” She took a deep breath. In and out. “I wanted to try and comfort you right now. I’m not sure on how to go about it…if you want a friend, I’m willing to try and be here for you. I know you said I don’t have any further use for you, but still…”
He was flabbergasted by what Y/N said. He was very harsh on her, which she greatly expressed, and yet she still wanted to…be there for him. His eyes widened as he looked at Y/N who still had a few tears cascading down her face.
“Everyone needs a friend. That includes you. If I can’t be of use to you as a songwriter, perhaps I could help you out as a friend.” The tears were slowing their stream down and Y/N’s body was beginning to relax. “Even though the princess has said no to being by your side, I’m saying yes to you. If you…want to take me.”
Bowser never had anyone speak to him the way Y/N did. He was shocked that she still suggested being there for him. He had hurt her so much with his words and actions. How could she possibly want to be with him?
“The time we had together a few days ago was very nice. I would like to have more moments like that,” Y/N said interrupting his thoughts.
He knew what she was referring to and he did enjoy those moments. Maybe…he could have someone else in his life. Even if it weren’t the princess, he could, hopefully, be content with another. He felt wanted and he wanted that feeling. He wanted to be noticed and cared for by someone special. Even if this were to be a friendship, perhaps it could bloom into something more later?
Bowser knew how he felt about Y/N, but he kept denying the feelings. Now that Y/N was offering her hand to him in friendship, he felt he needed to take it. He needed to make up for what he had been done to her, “Y/N…”
“Yes?” This was the calmest she had ever seen Bowser be. Is he taking her offer?
“Y/N, I…I’m so sorry. I’m sorry for hurting you.” He then walked up to her and reached out to take her hands into his.
She gasped at the contact and looked up at him. Her cheeks were slightly reddened. He was staring so sincerely at her as he grasped her hands. He ran his right thumb over her entire left hand.
“I’m sorry for how…how I treated you,” he continued. His grasp around her hands had tightened. “I…appreciate your offer.”
She continued staring into his red eyes as he spoke more.
“I want to take what you’re giving. I want…your friendship.” He smiled down at her.
She released a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding and gave a small, shy smile, “That makes me very happy.” Her cheeks were beginning to turn crimson.
He found her blushing face adorable. He reached a hand up and used one of his fingers to caress her cheek. She gasped once again from the contact and looked like a tomato at this point.
“U-Uh Bowser…um…friends don’t usually have this kind of….in-intimate contact…” She couldn’t help stumbling over her words. She also was not used to this kind of touch.
He retracted his finger and had let go of her hands, “Sorry.”
“N-No, it’s okay…d-don’t feel ashamed. It um…” She stopped herself from finishing her thought allowed.
“It was…” He felt like teasing her a little.
She looked at him with her blushing cheeks and then back down to the floor.
“I’m waiting. It was what…nice?” he asked with a smirk.
She couldn’t deny it, “Um, y-yes…” She held her hands together in front of her and her eyes were still downcast.
“Well, I’m glad you found it to be so nice, Y/N. Perhaps…we could build up to more kinds of contact as time goes on.” He chuckled, enjoying the teasing.
She widened her eyes, mouth hung open. She then covered her face with her hands. How embarrassing! This teasing and to go so far as flirting in such a way! She could hardly handle it. He was so open now and didn’t seem to care all too much about what he was saying. He loved seeing her get flustered like this. He would have to do this more often. He laughed at seeing her cover her face. She moved her hands from her face and gave him her an embarrassed look.
“Couldn’t help myself,” he said.
She cleared her throat, “Clearly…”
“Well, to get more serious now, I would like to have you stay in your room again. Keep you out of the dungeon.”
Her eyes glowed, “R-Really? For real this time?”
“Yes, for real this time.”
“Thank you! But…”
“But what?”
Would he still keep the princess locked up? Does he still want to find the SuperStar? Would he have his troops go off to another battle? Is he still going to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom? These questions plagued her mind, “Are you still going through with your plans?”
“I…” What was the point in going through with his plans now? Things hadn’t totally gone as thought out originally, but he still got a companion to have beside him. “I will…stop them.”
“That’s a relief. So, you’ll have Peach go back home and bring all your troops back here then?”
“Right.”
She smiled at him.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to have dinner with me this evening?”
“Sure! That would be great!”
“Okay. I’ll have Kamek escort you to your room.”
She gave him a grin and went to give him a hug, being careful to avoid the bracelets he wore. The king was adorned in black bands with spikes on them. He was surprised, not expecting the hug, but he wrapped her in his arms, being mindful of the spikes on his bands.
“Thank you, Bowser.”
“You’re welcome.”
The two let each other go and began walking towards the large doors. Kamek, on the other side, quickly moved out of the way so that he wouldn’t get smacked in the face.
“You were eavesdropping,” Bowser said to the wizard.
“Uh,” the wizard started and cleared his throat. “Y-Yes…”
Y/N chuckled and gave Kamek a gentle smile.
Bowser scolded the wizard for a moment and had him escort Y/N back to her room.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“We’ve made decent progress in getting to Bowser’s castle. We should arrive there by tomorrow,” Cranky said.
“That’s good,” Donkey replied.
“I hope Bowser hasn’t hurt Y/N or Peach,” Luigi said.
“Me too,” Mario replied.
“I hope so,” Toad said. “I want to think that both of them are still in one piece.”
The Kongs, plumbers, and mushroom man all had worked on making their way toward where Bowser resides, and they had traveled a long way. They found a forest to stop at for some more rest and to get some shut eye. Everyone did their own thing by getting a few fires going, eating some food, and getting in some water. Everyone was worn out from the day’s events, but they were happy with the progress they made.
Mario laid down on the grass and stared up at the treetops. He had a feeling that everything was going to get extremely difficult tomorrow. It was to be expected, but he couldn’t help thinking that something more was going to come their way. He tried to put the thought aside and focus on getting some sleep. Thoughts of seeing Peach and Y/N again filled his mind. He wanted both to be safe and sound.

Smiffina Episodes: Gun Runner Part 3 - Kick Off (3/5)
Mel is not looking forward to her day policing the derby between Millwall and Leyton Orient at The Den. Uniform are confused why Smithy isn't in as a football match would be his perfect day policing.
Neil, Gina, Heaton and Max have a meeting about the match and Smithy as he will be present at the match with the rest of the gang. Gina is unimpressed however as it's been a week and there's been no progress or information and she doesn't know how safe Smithy is. Max is defensive, they know that they're waiting for a big shipment and that Smithy has been lined up to reactivate them but they don't know who is behind it - yet - or who the supplier is. That should change today as Smithy is due to meet The Big Boss at the match. Max claims they'll be able to track Smithy on CCTV throughout. Gina points out how ridiculous it is for him to be undercover so close to Sun Hill given that he could be recognised by anyone that he'd arrested at any point. Max reassures her he'll be pulled out the first sign of trouble. "He's all on his own out there!" "Not exactly, he's set up in a lovely new flat with all mod cons including the most sophisticated technology that the MET can buy." And of course Stevie as his undercover girlfriend who brings him plates of fruit for breakfast rather then bacon sandwiches (!)
Tumblr media
Smithy's not best pleased as he's had no water for 2 days "Apparently it's very difficult to find a decent plumber round here!" He growls into the camera. Because of this he's also had a diet of takeaways. Smithy is also not happy that things are going so slow as he's been there for a week and all he has to show for it is some empty pizza boxes and a bit of stubble (there's not enough stubble for a week!)
Kieran Wallace turns up to pick Smithy up with Dennis Turner at 10am for a pub crawl before the match - complete with cans given that they're an hour early. Stevie makes herself known and takes a picture subtly of Wallace and Turner whilst kissing Smithy goodbye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gina tells uniform about Smithy being undercover and that there's been an unofficial warning about Orient 'welcoming home fans with a bang' that upgraded the security threat to Category C.
Will commits the cardinal sin of saying that things are 'quiet' when they're called to a local park because of children causing a disturbance. As soon as he's mentioned the Q word, a massive firework explodes right in front of their car followed by a second. "Never use the Q word - ever!!" Beth reminds him. Jason, a child, insists that he just 'found' the fireworks. Will points out that they're category 4 which is only for official use and should be carefully stored due to their volatile nature. He claims he 'borrowed' them from Ryan, his stepdad's garage. When the police check there's none there but Jason claims there were two boxes. His mum suggests that Ryan might have taken them to the match in the car. Crazy Craig's Warehouse reports that they were broken into overnight. Three boxes were stolen with one containing faulty mortar shells that are part of a faulty batch that were due to be returned - they're unstable and could go off at any time. It seems to link with the warning Borough Intelligence had about 'welcoming fans with a bang'. Heaton orders Ryan's car index and description to be sent to Gina so that he can be found on CCTV and the fireworks located sooner rather than later. Gina briefs the officers present to keep their eyes peeled. Ryan sounds like a right prince given he doesn't take his mobile to matches despite his wife being 2 weeks overdue and that he keeps Saturdays for football. And he's an Orient supporter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stevie has done her homework on Dennis Turner. He has previous for GBH, Assault with intent to rob, aggravated burglary and more! In a pub near the ground, Turner starts mouthing off about Stevie to Smithy who squares up to him before Wallace makes Turner back off. Wallace tells Smithy that Turner is the ammunition supplier - if he gets the job. Roger is in the same pub to ward off trouble and reminds people it's time to start finishing their drinks so they can get to the game. Turner tells him that he's not ready to leave and squares up to him. Smithy steps in and moves him on before he can start trouble and they head to the game.
In the control room at The Den, Gina and Mel are scrolling through CCTV to try and find Smithy and Ryan. Max moans about the amount of uniform officers swarming around but Gina lays it clear just how dangerous the fireworks are and that the gunpowder in them would be like letting off a bomb in the stadium without the firework even having to be lit. Then there's also the panic and stampede it would cause! Gina's already on edge after the recent bombings and tells him she won't take chances with her officers lives. Roger tells her over the radio that Smithy has left the pub and they locate him, Wallace and Turner on CCTV.
Callum has found Ryan's car and is starting to set up a cordon. The CCTV controller has an idea of where he'd be sitting from that area and starts to scan for him in the crowd. He offers to send stewards in but Neil doesn't want to spook Wallace so they put up a decoy message on the screens and over the tannoy to tell him his wife has gone into labour and to make his way to the hospital. The crowd applaud him as he makes his way to the exit where he's met by police and arrested in the carpark. Gina tells him the message was a ruse and they believe he has fireworks in his car. Ryan frowns and says he hasn't touched a firework since he was a child. Gina warns him that they could evacuate the stadium and perform a controlled explosion of his car if he doesn't tell the truth and he offers to open his boot and show them there's nothing in there. Indeed as they search the car there's nothing in the boot. Suspecting he could have them elsewhere, Gina sends him back to the station to be interviewed.
Ryan makes notes of everything in his interview, intending to sue them. Will points out he has the right to a copy of the tape and has a solicitor who would do it all for him so he doesn't need to write it down. Beth asks about the burglary of Crazy Craig's and where the stolen fireworks are after his stepson removed some from the garage. Suddenly it all makes sense to Ryan and he tells them it's likely the boys father, Travis put him up to it. He has an alibi for the time of the burglary as he was doing an emergency plumbing job and his boss and the customer can prove it. Travis is a known thief and Jason was staying with him the night before. When they return to the front office Jason has gone walkies. His mother admits that Travis has been against Ryan from the start. It's bad enough she left him in the first place but the fact that Travis is a lifelong Millwall supporter and Ryan is a Leyton Orient fan? Sacrilege!
Smithy makes his way to a seat, trying to keep his head down incase anyone recognises him. Wallace introduces him 3 other men around them. Gina is amused to find the previously-against-football Mel watching the game with interest. She's less amused to spot Jason on the CCTV looking into cars in the carpark with a crowbar in hand. Mel heads down to the carpark to frighten the life out the boy.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately it turns out that the car is his dad's car and it contains fireworks. Gina shouts to Mel over the radio to get out of the way but one explodes before she can even respond, leaving a horrified Gina staring at the screen with Neil and Max, terrified she's lost another officer. Callum and Ben rush over and find a coughing Mel dragging Jason out of the smoke. "Mel, are you alright?" "Do I look alright? You little brat, what were you thinking?!" she growls at him. Both of them are fine, just sooty and coughing as it appears what went off was a smoke canister and not a firework. Callum asks Gina if she wants him to check if the fireworks are in the boot and she freezes for a few seconds until Callum calls her name, telling him it's too dangerous. They set up a cordon around the car and send Callum to Travis' seat - which they know as he's a season ticket holder - to arrest him and to tell him if he doesn't tell them what's in the car then they'll blow it up.
Tumblr media
Wallace takes Smithy and the other boys to a private box to watch the match and meet The Boss. In the chaos of the smoke canister and concern for Mel it's missed by the Sun Hill officers who have no idea where he is.
Gina asks Travis Perkins what's in his car. He doesn't see what the big deal is as 'it's just some fireworks'. Thankfully it's only a few - the rest he has stored at his house. Gina arrests Travis and his son for burglary and returns to the station to sort it out, leaving Callum in charge at The Den. Travis claims it was him who stole the fireworks but none of his fingerprints match those found.
Smithy meets Big Boss who is hiding in a private box with the blinds closed despite the match being on. Smithy asks if they're going to open the blinds. "I'm not here for the game." Thankfully, Smithy has been found on CCTV entering the box and manages to talk Big Boss into opening the blinds enough so he can be seen for a few seconds and then they're closed again. Luckily it's long enough for Neil to locate him and get a picture of Big Boss alongside him.
At the station Gina still looks rattled after a long morning and tells Beth there is a charge to add on for Travis. "Disturbing the peace. Mine in particular." Beth asks her what she wants to do about Jason and Gina snaps. "Why can't someone else take responsibility around here, just for one minute?" She hurries into her office, pushing papers off her desk in anger. She's at the end of her tether and the stuff with Smithy being in unknown danger, the fireworks, what happened to Mel... it's all getting on top of her. She doesn't get a moments peace as straight away, Heaton starts ringing her and asks her to come and see him. She starts to tell him that she can't right that second until he says it's about Smithy and she goes straight up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stevie has found out Big Boss is called Darren Cutler and he has form for drug smuggling, manslaughter, armed robbery, kidnap and worse. Gina recognises the name but she can't place it. He's been quiet for 2 years so they need Smithy to work out what he's been up to. Gina has a bad feeling about it and thinks it's too dangerous but Heaton tells her it's not her call and they're not pulling Smithy out.
Mel asks Roger and Tony what Gina's like to work for. Roger says she's firm but fair and the best person to have onside when things kick off. Mel thinks it must be her putting her foot in it as Gina seems changeable with her as 'she was proper narky with me and Beth.' There's one slight problem to Mel's complaint however, as much as Roger and Tony try to tell her. How have the relief not learnt to look behind them when moaning, especially if it's about Gina? 😂😂
Tumblr media
Gina follows her through to deal with Jason and his step dad. Jason has to stay to answer a few questions. but the mother goes into labour. Jason worries and blames himself for it as they wait for the ambulance and he confesses it was him who broke in to the warehouse and that his dad was covering for him. Gina worries given the large amount of blood appearing and that they're going to have to take her via the van. Hilary tells Gina that she doesn't feel any pain anymore, just tired. Gina orders her to stay awake, tending to her in the back of the van. Thankfully the baby and mum are all ok. "Ma'am, can I just say...? I think you were brilliant today. Everything went haywire left right and center and you just ploughed on. You're brilliant." Gina swallows. "No I wasn't. I was just doing my job."
Like Gina, Neil recognises Cutler's name but can't place it. Heaton admits he's not concerned about what Cutler's done but what he's about to do, especially as he's been under the radar for two years. Currently there's no obvious Wallace and Cutler link but there must be one somewhere given he's using Wallace to gather the skills. Heaton tells the others Gina wants Smithy right now because it's dangerous and Max insists he won't do that. Neil interrupts after reading Cutler's record insisting Smithy needs to be pulled out immediately. The last stretch in prison that Cutler did coincided with the time that Smithy was in Longmarsh after being set up by Larson. They might not have been on the same wing, but it was known in Longmarsh that Smithy was a police officer. Neil worries it could have been a set up from the beginning though Max and Heaton don't think so. Callum suggests Smithy's the only one who can decide so they should let him know what sort of danger he's in. Stevie suggests she give him a call as his 'girlfriend' and explain as briefly as possible.
Smithy gets himself a coffee as he speaks to Cutler and asks him where he's been as he hasn't heard of him despite Wallace saying he's a big deal. He admits to Smithy that he's been 'on a fact finding tour for the last two years'. He's found suppliers and it can be a very profitable deal for all of them all - if they've got the right skills. He asks Smithy if he's familiar with a mach 10. Cutler tells him it's a pistol and Smithy corrects him at length "and it's more machine gun than pistol." He has his doubts about the quality of the guns. Smithy promises he can do it. "You planning on starting a war or finishing one?" he asks casually. Cutler pauses, watching Smithy before telling him he thinks they've met before. Smithy shrugs, plays it cool and the subject is changed. Cutler tells him he doesn't go to war. The good business is selling to those who are already at war - to both sides if possible. "The Mach 10's are for the street." he realises. "The gangs have the cash to buy Mach 10's." "And the will to use them. It'll be carnage!" Cutler isn't bothered, saying there's always more demand. He needs people who can hold their nerve. Stevie rings. "It's the girlfriend, do you mind?" he asks before Cutler tells him to take it.
Stevie tells him that Cutler was in Longmarsh at the same time Smithy was. She asks if his cover is still solid and he says yes for now. Stevie tells him the Super wants him out incase things get difficult. Smithy plays the call as though Stevie's threatening to break up with him to cover his words, saying he needs her more than ever and she needs him and that he just needs a little more time. Stevie says it can't happen and they're going to nick Cutler after the game once he and Wallace are clear of the ground. Smithy says that's not a good idea and that he can sort it. Stevie tells him it's out of his hands and he sighs and tells 'her' to do whatever she thinks she has to. As he hangs up, Cutler has another moment of deja vu. Smithy asks him if he's been in prison. He admits he was in Longmarsh 2 years ago and that's where they'd met. Cutler isn't satisfied saying it's not a big prison so why is it only now that he's recognising him. Smithy says he was only there for 3 months on a category A remand ring for murder before he was released with all charges dropped. "Did you do it?" "No." "That's funny, I did. I pleaded manslaughter. By the time I got to Longmarsh I was downgraded to a category B." "There you go then." Smithy shrugs. "That explains it, that's why our paths never crossed."
Wallace arrives back in the box, telling Cutler there's more police milling around than usual. Cutler admits he'd rather not have the police see him and Smithy agrees "That makes two of us." He gets an idea of how both of them can get out without getting seen. They pull their hoods up and head towards the toilets. Smithy and Cutler change coats and he slips out to Cutler's car. Callum moves in to arrest him thinking it's Cutler and Smithy tells him quickly to back off incase he's being watched because he knows what he's doing. He drives out the carpark with Callum only able to call it in, Neil sends Stevie over to Smithy's to have it out with him.
Stevie points out how dangerous it is and Smithy insists he'd not have set it up if they'd listened to him. "The answer was no." "Too late now though isn't it!" Smithy shrugs, telling them Cutler has contacts with Russians and possibly Serbians who can get him Mach 10's. "They are military issue and he wants to tell them to the streets." Smithy's linked it in with Carly and says Cutler's the man who sells the guns that kills the Carly Samuel's of this world, only now he wants them to be machine guns!" Stevie tries to calm him down but Smithy won't have any of it. "I didn't ask for any of this!" he insists, saying they came to him to get it done and then he looks into the camera of the CCTV cameras. "You started it, I'm gonna finish it!"
There's a scene cut from this episode where Smithy gets p'd off at the bloke who's potentially going to be supplying the ammunition and to maintain his cover - and to make the blinds move and reveal where he is - he takes him by the throat to shut him up and stop him talking. Although it's cut from this ep - a short clip of it is included in the 'Previously' round up at the start of part 4!

I come on here to RAMBLE and its usually all top of the dome but I had some thoughts I wanted regurgitate for all you lovely people out on the nosebleeds. Intentionality, design, outcome, and purpose. I would say these words are going to be the themes of the day. I will start the process by going in reverse an ask myself, do I have a purpose? Yes and No. I don't think God sent me here to be their most noblest cashier or their least chivilarious plumber. I never liked stories where the main characters were predestined greatness. It's kinda lame and boring to view the world in that way. Their path may have been harder but their aren't really any stakes because it is a prophecy which means it's like hard written into the world. (New Story idea: write a story with a prophecy that fails to come true and the matters get solved without it or multiple prophecies occuring and they have to cannibalize each other's Canon for the main character slot) When you peel away the aura a main character with that destined to win has, I feel as if you see their weren't many actualy players in the "game" or the main story anyways which isn't for me anymore. So the yes part of my answer isn't really a yes because I think you have to discern what you want your purpose will be while living life. At the end of life (I hear) you can look back over the years and see where you made a difference and then you may be able to infer what you were all about but you can't do that to same extent while you're still in the rat race optimizing your grindset. You just don't have enough data or experience to judge what business you stood on. You can be 30 and lived a normal enough life and had a wife and kids but if at 45 you became a CEO and then you started madating children juggle knives for you entertainment I personally would call them an eccentric. I think the scale changes depending on your actions. A normal life with good friends and memories is a fantastic one in my eyes but that leads me to my next idea. Do we really have to do anything in our lives? I think I don't think so. I think this thought may be connected to the destiny concept so I believe I need to say no to stay harmonious but I really do want to do something with this single life of mine. I do somehow want to leave the world a better place than what I found it. My idea is that is if I do that than eventually things would have to be pretty great in the world if maybe I can inspire others to also hold the mantle. I think if I was going to be a prodigenous revolutionary that radicalize the masses into breaking our collective silence about the atrocities being commited constantly than I would have at least a little buzz currently but bittersweetly, I do not. I will still do what I can, the best I can, because I can. This leads us to the next icebreaker, Creation vs consumption. It's kinda weird. It is looked upon more postively to read a book than to watch a movie of the same book. I think because the level of skill/dedication (attention span/ability to read) but there are skill checks in watching a movie as well but I think people don't consider that but products somewhat change depending on what people think about them. Everyone loves The Shining that was directed by Kubrick but the Stephen King didn't like it at all and made another movie most viewers would call worse to stay true to his vision but now we have a choice to make. Which is correct? The answer will change depending on what you value. What you value can be influenced by your environment despite having free will. No matter what your intentions you can be coerced. I think creation can much more easily give you monetary benefits (how do I get money from binging netflix?). Some instances it may aid you to consume to be able to create a more polished product. I don't know about you but if I had a choice between getting a table from me now vs getting a table after I read book about woodworking (it was written by AI but we don't know this rn) I think the 2nd would have to be better, right? I will try to talk about ads next!

Understanding Draper Plumbing Services
Plumbing isn’t just about fixing leaks; it's a vast field that covers everything from installations to emergency repairs. Professional plumbers in Draper are equipped with the skills and tools necessary to handle various plumbing issues, ensuring that repairs are done correctly the first time.
Common Plumbing Issues You Might Encounter
Before we jump into specific services, let’s take a look at some common plumbing issues that many homeowners in Draper face.
Toilet Install & Repair: When to Call for Help
Toilets are one of the most frequently used fixtures in any home. Over time, they can develop issues like leaks, clogs, or even complete failures. If you're experiencing any of these problems, it’s time to call a Draper plumber. They can help with toilet install & repair, ensuring that your toilet operates efficiently and reliably.
The Importance of Regular Plumbing Maintenance
One of the best ways to prevent plumbing issues is through regular maintenance. A professional Draper plumber can perform routine inspections and maintenance to catch potential problems early. This can save you money and headaches in the long run.

Water Damage Restoration: A Vital Service for Homeowners
Water damage is a serious issue that can lead to significant structural problems if not addressed promptly. Draper plumbing services often include water damage restoration to help homeowners recover from leaks, floods, or other water-related issues.
Signs You Need Water Damage Restoration
It's essential to recognize the signs of water damage early. Some common indicators include:
Stains on walls or ceilings

Tankless Water Heaters: A Smart Upgrade for Your Home
When it comes to water heating, many homeowners are making the switch to tankless water heaters. Unlike traditional units that store hot water, tankless systems heat water on demand. This means you can enjoy a continuous supply of hot water without the need for a bulky storage tank.
Benefits of Tankless Water Heaters
There are several advantages to installing a tankless water heater, including:
Energy efficiency: Tankless heaters consume less energy, as they only heat water when needed.
Space-saving design: These units take up less space, making them ideal for smaller homes.
Longevity: With proper maintenance, tankless water heaters can last longer than traditional models.
Finding the Right Draper Plumber for Your Needs
Now that we've covered various plumbing services, the next step is finding the right plumber for your specific needs. Here are some tips to help you choose:
Check Reviews and Testimonials
Before hiring a Draper plumber, take some time to read online reviews and testimonials. This will give you an idea of the experiences other customers have had and help you make an informed decision.
Verify Credentials and Experience
Ensure that the plumber you choose is licensed and insured. This not only protects you but also guarantees that you're working with a qualified professional.
DIY Plumbing: When to Try and When to Call for Help
While some plumbing tasks can be tackled as DIY projects, others are best left to the professionals. If you’re unsure about a particular repair or installation, it's always a good idea to err on the side of caution and consult a Draper plumber.
Simple DIY Plumbing Tips
If you want to tackle minor plumbing issues yourself, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Clogged Drains: Use a plunger or a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to clear minor clogs.
Leaky Faucets: Often, replacing a worn-out washer can solve the problem.
Running Toilets: Check the flapper valve to see if it needs to be replaced.
However, if your DIY efforts don’t yield results, don’t hesitate to call a professional.
Emergency Plumbing Services in Draper
Plumbing emergencies can happen at any time, and having access to emergency services is crucial. Many Draper plumbing companies offer 24/7 emergency services, ensuring that you can get help when you need it most.
What Constitutes a Plumbing Emergency?
Understanding what qualifies as a plumbing emergency can help you react appropriately. Here are some situations that typically warrant immediate attention:
Major leaks or bursts
Sewage backups
Severe clogs that prevent water flow
No hot water during winter months
In any of these cases, it's essential to contact a Draper plumber right away.
Cost of Plumbing Services in Draper
The cost of plumbing services can vary based on several factors, including the type of service, the complexity of the job, and the materials used. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $150 to $450 for common plumbing repairs. However, it's always best to get a quote from your chosen plumber to understand the specific costs associated with your project.
How to Budget for Plumbing Services
When budgeting for plumbing services, consider setting aside an emergency fund for unexpected repairs. This can give you peace of mind knowing that you’re prepared for any plumbing mishaps that may arise.

How Can I Identify Leaks in My Plumbing System Using Effective Methods?
Tumblr media
Plumbing leaks can lead to significant damage if left undetected. This article explores various methods to identify leaks in your plumbing system, helping you prevent costly repairs and water wastage.
Visual Inspection
One of the simplest ways to detect a plumbing leak is through a visual inspection. Look for signs of water damage such as stains on walls or ceilings, peeling paint, or warped flooring.
Checking Water Meter
Monitoring your water meter can also help identify leaks. Turn off all water sources in your home and check if the meter is still running. A continuously running meter indicates a possible leak.
Pressure Test
Performing a pressure test involves shutting off the main water supply and monitoring the pressure gauge for any drops. A drop in pressure suggests a leak somewhere in the plumbing system.
Using Leak Detection Dye
Leak detection dye is a handy tool for identifying hard-to-find leaks. Simply add the dye to the toilet tank or suspected leak area and wait for it to seep into the plumbing. The dye will reveal the location of the leak.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging technology can detect hidden leaks by identifying temperature variations in the plumbing system. Areas with abnormal temperatures may indicate a leak.
Acoustic Listening Devices
Acoustic devices can detect the sound of water escaping from pipes, helping pinpoint the location of a leak. These devices are especially useful for detecting leaks behind walls or underground.
DIY Repair Techniques
For minor leaks, DIY repair techniques can be effective. Options include tightening loose fittings, replacing worn-out washers, or applying plumber’s tape to seal small leaks.
Professional Plumbing Services
In some cases, it’s best to enlist the help of a professional plumber. They have the expertise and equipment to accurately detect and repair leaks, ensuring the problem is resolved correctly.
Preventive Measures
To prevent future plumbing leaks, consider installing leak detection devices, maintaining your plumbing system regularly, and avoiding harsh chemical drain cleaners that can corrode pipes.
FAQs

When should I call a plumber for a suspected leak?
If you’ve tried DIY methods but still suspect a leak, or if the leak is inaccessible or extensive, it’s best to call a professional plumber.

Clearing a clogged sink with garbage disposal may seem challenging, but you can handle this common household issue by following the proper steps without calling a plumber san jose . This do-it-yourself guide will take you through the process, providing practical tips and advice to help quickly get your sink back in working order.
Tumblr media
Understanding Your Garbage Disposal
Before you start unclogging, it's essential to understand how your garbage disposal works. This device, installed under your sink, grinds food waste into tiny particles that can pass through your plumbing san jose. If it's not used correctly, it can get clogged with debris, causing your sink to back up.
Critical Components of a Garbage Disposal
Grind Ring: Breaks down food waste.
Impellers: These are not blades but spinning arms that push food against the grinding ring.

Drain Pipe: Connect the garbage disposal to the plumbing system to allow water and waste to flow.
Common Causes of Clogs
Understanding the causes of clogs can help you prevent them in the future. Here are some common culprits:
Food Waste
Certain types of food waste, such as fibrous vegetables (e.g., celery, potato peels), coffee grounds, and eggshells, can cause clogs.
Grease and Fat
Pouring grease and fat down the drain can cause blockages when it solidifies.
Non-Food Items
Accidentally dropping non-food items, such as utensils or small pieces of plastic, can lead to clogs.
DIY Steps to Unclog Your Garbage Disposal
Let's delve into the details of clearing your garbage disposal. Follow these steps closely for a successful repair. ( plumbing maintenance in San Jose )
Safety First
Before beginning, make sure to switch off the disposal unit. Unplug the unit or turn off the circuit breaker to prevent accidental activation.
Inspect the Disposal
Use a flashlight to inspect the disposal for any visible obstructions. Avoid using your fingers; use pliers or tongs to remove debris.
Use a Plunger
If the clog is not visible, attempt using a plunger. Fill the sink with enough water to cover the plunger's cup, then form a tight seal around the drain. Push and pull the plunger vigorously to dislodge the clog.
Reset the Disposal
If plunging doesn't unclog the disposal, try resetting it. Most units have a reset button on the bottom. Press it to see if this resolves the issue.
Use a Disposal Wrench
Many disposals come with a hex key or Allen wrench. Insert this tool into the bottom of the disposal and turn it back and forth to free the grinding plate manually.
Baking Soda and Vinegar
Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the disposal, followed by 1 cup of vinegar for stubborn clogs. Let it fizz for a few minutes, then flush it with hot water.
Call a Professional

6 Common Plumbing Mistakes to Avoid at All Costs
Plumbing may seem like a mysterious world of pipes and valves, but it's not as complex as it appears. However, there are some common mistakes that many homeowners make when dealing with their plumbing system.
In this blog, we'll explore six of these mistakes and provide tips on how to avoid them to keep your plumbing in tip-top shape.
Ignoring Leaks
Plumbing mistake number one: ignoring leaks. It may seem like a small drip isn't a big deal, but even minor leaks can lead to significant water damage over time. Whether it's a dripping faucet or a leaky pipe under the sink, ignoring the issue will only make it worse.
The best course of action is to address leaks as soon as you notice them. Tighten loose fittings, replace worn washers, or call a professional plumber to fix the problem properly.
Using Chemical Drain Cleaners
When faced with a clogged drain, it's tempting to reach for a bottle of chemical drain cleaner for a quick fix. However, these harsh chemicals can do more harm than good to your plumbing system.
Not only can they damage pipes and fixtures, but they can also harm the environment and pose health risks to you and your family. Instead of relying on chemical drain cleaners, try using a plunger or a plumbing snake to clear the clog. If that doesn't work, it's best to call a professional plumber who can safely and effectively unclog your drains.
Tumblr media
Overloading Garbage Disposals
Garbage disposals are a convenient tool for getting rid of food scraps, but they're not invincible. Overloading your garbage disposal with too much food waste can lead to clogs and plumbing issues. To avoid this mistake, be mindful of what you put down the disposal.
Avoid putting fibrous or starchy foods, like celery or potato peels, down the drain, as they can wrap around the blades and cause jams. Instead, scrape food scraps into the trash or compost bin to prevent plumbing problems down the line.
Neglecting Regular Maintenance
Like any other system in your home, your plumbing needs regular maintenance to keep it running smoothly. Neglecting maintenance tasks, such as checking for leaks, inspecting pipes for signs of corrosion, and cleaning out drains, can lead to costly repairs down the road.
Schedule regular plumbing inspections with a professional plumber to catch any issues before they escalate into major problems. Investing in preventative maintenance now can save you time, money, and headaches in the future.
DIY Plumbing Repairs
While it's admirable to tackle home improvement projects on your own, some plumbing repairs are best left to the professionals. Attempting to fix complex plumbing issues without the proper knowledge and experience can lead to costly mistakes and even further damage to your plumbing system.
If you're unsure about how to fix a plumbing problem or if it requires specialised tools or skills, it's best to call a licensed plumber who can safely and efficiently resolve the issue.
Using Incorrect Tools
Using the wrong tools for plumbing repairs can cause more harm than good. From wrenches to plungers, it's essential to use the right tool for the job to avoid damaging pipes, fittings, and fixtures. Before tackling any plumbing project, make sure you have the proper tools on hand and familiarise yourself with how to use them correctly.
If you're unsure which tools you need or how to use them, don't hesitate to ask for help from a professional plumber or consult online resources for guidance.
Conclusion
By avoiding these six common plumbing mistakes, you can keep your plumbing system in excellent condition and avoid costly repairs in the future. Remember to address leaks promptly, avoid using chemical drain cleaners, be mindful of what you put down your garbage disposal, schedule regular maintenance, know when to call a professional plumber, and use the correct tools for plumbing repairs.
With a little care and attention, you can ensure that your plumbing system works efficiently for years to come.

Plumbing Mythbusters: Debunking Common Misconceptions
Plumbing is often seen as a mysterious realm, with its own set of rules and rituals that sometimes defy common sense. Amidst this complexity, myths and misconceptions about plumbing abound, perpetuated by hearsay, old practices, and the occasional DIY mishap. Yet, separating fact from fiction is crucial when it comes to maintaining the health and functionality of your plumbing system.
In this article, we aim to shed light on some of the most prevalent misconceptions, providing clarity and debunking myths to empower homeowners with the knowledge they need to navigate their plumber Newcastle challenges effectively. So, let's roll up our sleeves and dive into the world of plumbing, separating truth from fiction one myth at a time.
Myth #1: Lemons Clean Garbage Disposals
One pervasive myth suggests that tossing lemon peels down your garbage disposal will keep it clean and fresh. While the citrusy scent might temporarily mask odours, it won't effectively clean the disposal. In fact, the acidity in citrus fruits can corrode the metal components of the disposal over time, leading to malfunctions and leaks. Instead, opt for safer methods to maintain your garbage disposal, such as using ice cubes to sharpen the blades and a mixture of vinegar and baking soda to eliminate odours without causing damage.
Myth #2: You Can Flush Anything Down the Toilet
Many people believe that toilets are capable of handling anything thrown their way. However, this misconception can lead to clogged pipes and costly repairs. Toilets are designed to flush human waste and toilet paper only. Flushing items like baby wipes, cotton balls, sanitary products, and even "flushable" wipes can cause blockages and sewer backups. These items do not break down as easily as toilet paper and can accumulate in pipes, leading to plumbing emergencies. Dispose of these items in the trash to prevent plumbing problems and protect your home's sewage system.
Myth #3: You Don't Need to Fix a Slow Drain
A slow-draining sink or shower is often dismissed as a minor inconvenience, but it could indicate a more significant plumbing issue. Ignoring a slow drain can lead to a complete blockage, resulting in water damage and potential mould growth. Hair, soap scum, and debris accumulate over time, obstructing the flow of water and causing drains to slow down. Address slow drains promptly by using a drain snake or chemical drain cleaners. However, be cautious with chemical cleaners as they can damage pipes and harm the environment. If the problem persists, it's best to contact a professional plumber to diagnose and fix the underlying issue before it escalates.
Myth #4: DIY Fixes Are Always Cheaper
While DIY plumbing fixes can save you money in some cases, they're not always the most cost-effective solution. Amateur repairs often result in temporary fixes that fail to address the root cause of the problem. This can lead to recurrent issues and additional expenses down the line. Moreover, attempting complex plumbing repairs without the necessary expertise can cause further damage and pose safety risks. For complex plumbing issues, it's best to enlist the help of a licensed plumber who has the knowledge and experience to resolve the problem correctly. Investing in professional plumbing services may seem more expensive initially, but it can save you time, money, and hassle in the long run by ensuring that the job is done right the first time.
Myth #5: All Water Heater Maintenance Requires a Professional
While some aspects of water heater maintenance should be left to professionals, there are simple tasks homeowners can perform to extend the appliance's lifespan and ensure optimal performance. Flushing the tank annually to remove sediment buildup, checking the pressure relief valve for leaks, and inspecting the anode rod for corrosion are all DIY-friendly tasks that can help maintain your water heater's efficiency. However, if you encounter any issues or are unsure about performing maintenance, it's wise to consult a qualified plumber who can provide guidance and assistance. Regular maintenance not only prolongs the life of your water heater but also helps prevent costly breakdowns and ensures that your household has a reliable supply of hot water when needed.
Plumbing myths can lead to costly mistakes and unnecessary headaches for homeowners. By debunking these misconceptions and arming yourself with accurate information, you can better maintain your plumbing system and avoid potential problems. Remember, when in doubt, it's always best to seek professional advice rather than relying on hearsay or DIY remedies. Your home's plumbing system will thank you for it in the long run, saving you time, money, and frustration while ensuring that your plumbing functions smoothly and efficiently for years to come.
