How to ecoprint a t-shirt!
Tumblr media
Take the cloth you want to dye – natural fibers like cotton, linen, wool and silk work best, but also polyamide! It it's new, it's good to wash it first to get rid of any surface treatments on the cloth.
Then you'll need mordant for your fabric: alum and tannins for cellulose fibers, or just alum for protein fibers. Mordanting will help the print stick to the fabric and stay vibrant! To pre-mordant, simply dissolve the mordant into hot water and dip your cloth in it. To calculate how much mordant you need, simply weigh your dry cloth and divide by ten.
After mordanting, you can let your cloth dry or simply wring it and continue to the next step. Using wet cloth will result in a more watercolour-like print, as the dyes spread a bit. For crisper prints, it's better to use dry cloth.
Next you'll need plant stuff! Most green stuff will give yellowish hues, but there are some plants that are special dye plants. Do your research or experiment! (I used dyers chamomille, st. john's wort and some purpleish plants that I'm hoping will give red.) Some kitchen scraps like onion skins, and some mushrooms (eg. surprise webcap) are also commonly used! You can use fresh or dried plants. Arrange them on your cloth in whatever pattern you like! I'm folding my shirt in half to get a mirrored print, so I placed some flowers facing up and some facing down, but generally you'll want to place the flower face down and leaves face up!
Tumblr media
Then it's time for wrapping up your cloth! You'll need another fabric or plastic to cover the cloth and something solid to wrap your fabric around, like a stick, some rulers or a piece of pipe. A rolling pin can be helpful in getting the plants flat against the fabric before wrapping. I used a big glass jar, like so!
Tumblr media
Place the other fabric or plastic on top of your cloth and roll tightly! Tie the roll with some scrap yarn so it stays tight and finally wrap it in a towel. If you want a background colour, you can use a transfer cloth that's dipped in dye in place of the plastic or other fabric.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next this roll will be steamed to get the colours from the plants into the cloth. A big kettle and small flower pot upside down work well, if you don't want to sacrifice a juicer. I used a bucket, a styrofoam box and an elecric kettle to save energy. Let it steam for 1,5 hours. If your cloth and plants were dried, it will take longer.
Tumblr media
Once it's steamed, let it cool completely. Then it's time for the reveal! Dry and iron, wear and hand-wash.
I'll post the finished shirt once it's ready!

Heyy, I just got my first ever toy (silicone bullet vibrator) and was wondering how it should be stored? Is it safe to just leave in a drawer after cleaning, or should it be put in something like a plastic baggie? It didn't come with its own container other than the cardboard box it came in. As for washing, would soap be necessary or just rinsing under warm water work? The instructions only say not to use corrosive detergent and nothing else. Thank you in advance for answering my kinda basic questions haha
hey anon,
some kind of container, like a clean box or simple fabric bag, within your drawer would be ideal, as it will stop your toy from touching anything else that may pass along bacteria that you don't want anywhere near your orifices. even the cardboard box is a good option for that purpose! I keep a couple of my toys in the boxes they came in, since it keeps them separate from everything else in my drawer, is easy to find, and has guaranteed space for the toy + charger.
most important is that you're keeping it somewhere cool and dry. silicone toys aren't as sensitive to heat and humidity as some other materials, but heat and humidity are always going to be the best conditions or bacteria growth and again: we don't want that! so if your drawer is, say, directly beneath a drippy pipe and right above a heater, that's maybe not your best bet.
the way you clean your toy is definitely the most important part of the equation here, and luckily silicone toys are easy! unscented soap and hot water will be just fine :)

Alphabet Thralls Part 1: The Factory
Masterlist with content warnings
Taglist: @d-cs @steh-lar-uh-nuhs @softvampirewhump
The room contained five humans, aged 18-25, restrained in chairs with gags in their mouths and large name tags on their shirts. Each person’s tag had a single letter on it. Q, R, S, T, U. Q fought against his restraints the best he could, but the chairs were bolted to the floor. R and T simply cried. U observed her surroundings. S was sitting with their eyes closed, seemingly sleeping or meditating.
There was the sound of a heavy door opening then three women were walking into the windowless concrete room where the prisoners were being held.
The women all wore white lab coats, simply because they knew human psychology well enough to know that symbols of authority would inspire compliance. They stood in a line in front of the prisoners, who all looked up at them. They looked dead except for their eyes, which were vibrant and crimson.
“Hello, candidates,” said the woman standing in the middle. “You are here to be trained as vampiric thralls. The amount of time it takes for you to be trained will depend on how cooperative you are. After your training you will be assigned to a vampire who will be your owner. For the time being, we are your handlers, and you will obey our orders.” The two other women moved around to release the restraints holding the prisoners to the chairs and secure their hands in front of them so they could be transported. Each of them fought to no avail, except for S, who complied without even hesitating. The women gave them a questioning look, as did U. The others were too focussed on their own struggles to notice. The humans were led, or dragged in Q’s case, out of the door and down an equally windowless concrete hallway. Two of the women held one human’s restraints in each hand, the woman who had spoken held both the chain between Q’s cuffs and his arm. His thrashing did nothing to loosen her iron grip.
The room the prisoners were led into next was even more alarming than the blank concrete walls of the holding cell they woke up in. The floor and walls were tiled, there was a drain that the floor slanted towards, and hooks were bolted to the low ceiling. T screamed through her gag. The woman holding her shackles gave the chain a sharp tug.
“Quiet,” she said harshly enough to get T to shut up. “It is in your best interest to remain calm.”
The women looped the prisoners’ chains over the hooks and left the room. Five different corpse-like people walked in. They wore plain navy blue jumpsuits with clear plastic aprons over them. Each one carried a small plastic bucket. They chatted amicably with each other as they entered the room, but got quiet as soon as they were close enough for the prisoners to make out any words. They each stood in between a prisoner and the far wall and took a large pair of fabric shears from their buckets. Most of the prisoners struggled and sobbed and tried to pull away as the jumpsuited handlers cut off all of their clothing. They took R’s glasses away as he tried to spit curses through the gag. S seemed to be hyperventilating as their handler removed the metal studs from just below their bottom lip, but offered up no resistance, even as they shivered from the cold air. The handler who had stripped U walked over to the wall next to the door and turned a lever before starting to walk back.
After about two seconds pipes in the walls started making noise and water hot enough to be painful but not to burn sprayed out from nozzles set into the far wall. The handlers tried to avoid the spray as best they could as they proceeded to thoroughly scrub down the prisoners’ hair and bodies. Q attempted to headbut his handler when they tried to scrub his face, but got nothing except soap in his eyes for his trouble. When the handlers were satisfied that the prisoners were entirely clean, the one in front of U went over and turned off the water. Then he left the room. Without the heat of the water the air of the room was once again freezing, and all the prisoners’ skin was covered in goosebumps from the cold by the time the handler returned with a chair covered in straps.
Q was put in the chair first. They pulled the many straps so tight around him that he couldn’t move at all despite his efforts to struggle. One of the handlers pulled a thin pair of scissors from his jumpsuit’s pocket and began to cut Q’s shoulder-length hair until it was short enough to no longer touch his neck.
R and U’s hair was decided to already be short enough, so next they dragged down S after hanging Q back on his hook. After S and T’s hair was cut and they were hung back up the prisoner’s who’d had haircuts had buckets of water thrown over them to get rid of any clippings stuck to their skin. The handlers then went to a cabinet in the back of the room and returned each holding a towel and a soft, warm black nightgown with a letter embroidered on it. They dried off the prisoners, who despite their fear and embarrassment were all grateful in the backs of their minds to longer be dripping wet in the cold.
The handlers were tactical in the order in which each prisoner was taken from their hook and unshackled so they could put on the gown. Q was first, and of course he fought. The handlers easily deflected his blows and weren’t afraid to punch back until he was weak enough to have the gown shoved over his head and his shackles put back on. The strength that the handlers used to subdue him showed beyond a shadow of a doubt that they weren’t human.
R was next. Confused due to his lack of glasses and frightened by the sounds of violence he cowered in fear until the handlers not holding back Q firmly put the gown on him. He only resisted when he realized they were trying to put the shackles back on. Soon enough though the handlers succeeded.
U was taken down next. She had seen what happened when Q resisted, and allowed the gown to be put on her and her hands to be bound without fighting back.
T was still sobbing, but she was also desperately trying to cover herself as best she could and almost eagerly accepted the clothing being slipped over her head.
That left S. Two handlers were holding back Q. One had R. One held both U and T. That left only one to handle S. S was taken down from the hook and unshackled without any fuss. The handler simply put the gown in their hands and they slipped it over their freezing skin gratefully. They exhaled their relief at the comfortable cloth and then held their hands out so they could be shackled again. The handler tilted their head and raised an eyebrow, wary of a trap, but S made no move to fight.
The prisoners were led back to their holding cell, which now had five bare twin sized mattresses with a single pillow each on the floor instead of bolted-down chairs. A door on the far end of the room had been removed from its frame, allowing the group to see that there was a small bathroom behind it. R, T, and U were released from their restraints at the same time. Their hands immediately started working to get out their gags.
“Pick a bed,” one of the handlers instructed.
The three unrestrained prisoners did as they were told, with U making sure R didn’t trip over anything as he walked. S was unshackled next. They made no move to remove their gag or do anything else. The handler that had unlocked their cuffs pressed the key into their hand and took off their gag. Now it was S’s turn to give a look of disbelief. The other handlers dragged a struggling Q past them and locked the chain of his shackles into a loop set into the wall. The handler in front of S took hold of their chin and spoke firmly.
“Once this door is closed you will unlock Q’s shackles. Then slide both the shackles and the key through the slot at the bottom of the door.” They didn’t wait for a response before leading the other handlers out of the door that closed with a heavy thud.
S walked over to Q and freed him from the wall. As soon as the restraints preventing him from collapsing were gone he fell to his hands and knees on the floor and gasped in ragged breaths. He looked up just in time to see S following the handler’s instructions on how to get rid of the shackles and key.
Q tore out his gag. “We could have used that as a weapon to fight back!” he practically growled. “Why would you help them?”
S looked back at him with an unreadable expression as they walked towards the empty mattress nearest the door. “Because this was a test.”
No matter how much Q berated them for their cooperation, S stayed silent as they tried to get comfortable on their mattress without more pillows or a blanket. Soon the lights went out.
The other prisoners talked. They shared names, stories of how they were taken. U and T were students with the same late seminar class. R had been walking home from his shift at work. Q was simply out for a run to tire himself out. S said nothing until everyone was tired enough that the conversation began to die out.
“Hey,” R said. “S.” His tone betrayed his bitterness that they had refused to give their real name. “Why are you acting like this? I mean, I get trying to stay on their good side, but you’re so damn calm. Why aren’t you at least more scared?”
There was a silence so long that R wondered if S had actually been asleep this entire time. Then a clear voice in a simple, matter-of-fact tone said, “I volunteered.”
S did not respond to the chaos that followed.

How hot should soup be when you start consuming it? How hot should coffee be when you start to consume it? Tea?
Lucibelle: Hot? I dunno. Not hot enough to burn my mouth off. Gally has a whole THING with tea, her ma's from Galar I think. Or that's her dad, I dunno.
Hack: Soup should be vibrating at a volume of 69 degrees Celsius, and the kettle whistles for every hot beverage I make. Except for green tea and coffee. I only drink leftover coffee, and that goes in the microwave for 46 seconds. Green tea is best served cold, ice-brewed. The particles should not be vibrating that much.
Rye: I wish you'd stop explaining heat like that.
Hack: Majoko thinks it's hilarious.
Majoko: I do.
Rye: Anyways, I like my soup after it sits on medium-high heat on the stove for about fifteen minutes, so that when it gets in the bowl, it's still warm enough to eat. I like drinking my coffee and tea with creamer added AFTERWARDS so it can cool down to optimal drinking temperature right away. The way it should be.
Majoko: I like my soups really hot, but I use a plastic spoon so my mouth doesn't burn. I... Also drink my green tea with boiling hot water like a commoner. My hot chocolate is always at around 200° when I drink it.
Hack: Your soup's too loud. And what kind of hot chocolate needs to be at 200 degrees, is your hot chocolate breakdancing or something?
Majoko: Fahrenheit. Or I just use hot water from the pipe.
Galatea: I don't know about soup, but I DO have a tea chart!
Dante: A chart?
Hack: YOU HAVE A CHART!? Galatea, you're my new best friend now.
Galatea: Personally, I like to drink black tea at a lovely medium-high temperature which is achieved by steeping it for THREE MINUTES in a POT, and adding the milk (cold, 26 ml) AFTER the tea, to a CERAMIC mug. But then again, I'd steep my tea in milk if I could. Oh, and I avoid coffees. They tend to make me shakey.
Rye: That makes sense... Coffee is known for caffeine, and that does make people jittery.
Hack: But... Where's the chart? I thought you'd have an exact temperature.
Lucibelle: Geez, you think she sticks a thermometer in her tea every morning or something?
Majoko: What about you, Dante?
Dante: I like my soup hot, obviously. But as for coffee and tea...
Rye: Yes?
Dante: ...Galatea, I feel like you're going to judge me.
Lucibelle: We're all judging, just out with it!
Dante: I like my teas and coffee iced and with milk.
Galatea: What—

Hot Cross Buns
"One a penny, two a penny, hot cross-buns"
Hot cross buns are a centuries' old tradition from England. There are many different recipes, but all forms feature a fruit laden roll with a cross on top. The most authentic versions have the cross baked into the bun. It should not be frosting. The buns described here are my version of Paul Hollywood's recipe.
The dough is very simple. The ingredients are all dumped into the stand mixer equipped with the dough hook. You start with 500 grams of flour, two tablespoons of sugar, a tablespoon of yeast and a teaspoon of salt. One egg is whisked with 100 grams of milk and 140 grams of water. This mixture is then added to the dry ingredients with the mixer running. Once things are well combined two tablespoons of softened butter are added. The dough is kneaded for about eight minutes then transferred to a cover bowl for a one hour rise.
While the dough is rising the filling is prepared. One apple is pealed and diced. (I used a honey crisp.) A half cup of golden raisins are added along with third of a cup of candied orange peel and the zest of two oranges.
After the hour rise the dough is smashed down and the filling is kneaded into the dough. This is pretty messy and takes a bit of work. It gets easier as you go as the juice from the apples lightens up the dough. Once you are finished the dough goes back into the bowl for another hour rise.
Finally you get to make the buns. You should have enough dough for a dozen good sized buns. Use your trusty triple beam to portion the dough into twelve 90 gram portions. Roll each portion into a ball. Try to poke any protruding fruit chunks into the ball. Place the balls in a 3 x 4 pattern on a parchment covered baking sheet leaving about an inch gap between them. Cover everything loosely with plastic wrap and give the buns a hour and a half rise.
The next step before the oven is adding the cross. Take 150 grams of flour and add enough water (perhaps 130 grams) to make a soft paste. Transfer this to a pastry bag and pipe a cross onto the top of each bun. Bake the rolls for 18 minutes in a 400 degree oven.
While the buns are in the oven prepare a simple 1:1 glaze of 100 grams each of sugar and water. I flavored the glaze with a teaspoon of orange emulsion, but you could use orange of lemon zest instead.
Once the buns are out of the oven immediately use your paint brush and give them at least two coats of the glaze. Transfer the buns to a wire rack for cooling.
The buns are best eaten warm. Either immediately, which is truly divine, or later after a zap in the microwave. They are a lot of work, but they are worth it!

When it comes to repiping your home, two of the most common materials used are CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) and copper pipes. Each option has its advantages and drawbacks, and the decision often depends on factors like cost, durability, and installation ease. Understanding the differences between CPVC repipe and copper pipe repipe is essential in making an informed decision for your plumbing needs.
CPVC repipe | CPVC to PEX pipes | Galvanized pipe repipe | Copper pipe repipe | Low water flow | Rusty water | CPVC repipe | CPVC to PEX pipes | Galvanized pipe repipe | Copper pipe repipe | Low water flow | Rusty water |
What is CPVC Repipe?
CPVC is a plastic piping material that is commonly used for plumbing systems. It is a popular choice for residential repiping due to its affordability and resistance to corrosion. CPVC repipe involves replacing old, damaged, or corroded pipes with CPVC pipes, ensuring a more durable and long-lasting plumbing system. CPVC pipes are lightweight, easy to install, and resistant to the effects of hard water, making them an excellent option for homes in areas with high mineral content in the water supply.
CPVC is also known for its ability to withstand high temperatures, which is a crucial factor for homes with hot water systems. The smooth interior of CPVC pipes allows for better water flow and reduces the likelihood of clogs over time. Additionally, CPVC repipe systems are typically less expensive than copper, both in terms of material costs and labor charges for installation.
What is Copper Pipe Repipe?
Copper pipes have been the traditional choice for plumbing systems for many years. A copper pipe repipe involves replacing old pipes with new copper ones, which are known for their durability and long lifespan. Copper is resistant to corrosion and can handle high water pressure without compromising the integrity of the pipe. Copper piping also tends to be more aesthetically pleasing, with its shiny, reddish-brown appearance, making it a popular choice for visible plumbing installations.
One of the main advantages of copper pipe repipe systems is their reliability. Copper pipes can last up to 70 years or more with proper maintenance, making them an investment for the long term. Additionally, copper pipes are resistant to bacteria growth, which is crucial for maintaining healthy water quality. However, copper pipes can be more expensive than CPVC, both in terms of material cost and installation. The installation of copper pipes requires skilled labor due to the need for soldering and welding, which can increase labor costs.
CPVC repipe | CPVC to PEX pipes | Galvanized pipe repipe | Copper pipe repipe | Low water flow | Rusty water | CPVC repipe | CPVC to PEX pipes | Galvanized pipe repipe | Copper pipe repipe | Low water flow | Rusty water |
Key Differences Between CPVC Repipe and Copper Pipe Repipe
Cost: CPVC repipe systems are generally more affordable than copper pipe repipes. The material cost for CPVC is lower, and the installation is typically quicker and less expensive because CPVC is easier to work with.
Durability: Copper pipes are often more durable and have a longer lifespan, especially in areas with very hot water or high water pressure. However, CPVC can still provide many years of service, especially in areas with moderate water conditions.
Installation: CPVC pipes are easier to install because they do not require special tools or the need for soldering. Copper pipes, on the other hand, require more skill to install, which can increase the overall cost of the repiping project.
Corrosion Resistance: While copper is resistant to corrosion, it can still be affected by acidic or highly mineralized water. CPVC, being a plastic material, is completely resistant to corrosion and scale buildup, making it an ideal choice for areas with hard water.
Water Flow: CPVC pipes tend to have a smoother interior, which can result in better water flow compared to copper pipes. Over time, copper pipes can develop scale buildup, potentially reducing water flow.
Conclusion
Both CPVC repipe and copper pipe repipe offer valuable benefits, depending on the specific needs of your home. If you're looking for an affordable, easy-to-install solution, CPVC might be the best option for you. However, if you're willing to invest in a longer-lasting, durable material, copper pipes may be a better choice. Either way, repiping is an important investment in your home’s plumbing system, and choosing the right material can help ensure the long-term health of your pipes.

Top10 cpvc pipes brands in india
Tumblr media
Introduction
India is home to several well-established brands of CPVC pipes and fittings, offering durability and reliability for plumbing systems. Choosing the right CPVC pipe company is crucial for ensuring longevity and performance. Here are the Top 10 CPVC pipe brands in India that are trusted for their quality and innovation in the industry.
What are CPVC pipes?
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) pipes are a type of plastic pipe commonly used in plumbing and industrial applications. These pipes undergo a chlorination process on PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), which improves their resistance to heat and corrosion. CPVC pipes are suitable for both hot and cold water systems, as they can withstand temperatures up to 200°F (93°C). In contrast, standard PVC pipes are restricted to lower temperature applications.
People commonly use these pipes in residential, commercial, and industrial applications because they offer high durability and resist corrosion, chemicals, and scaling. Unlike metal pipes, they do not rust, pit, or corrode over time, which extends their lifespan.
CPVC pipes are also lightweight, making them easier to handle and install. They can be joined using solvent cement, eliminating the need for welding or threading. This ease of installation, along with their affordability compared to materials like copper, makes CPVC a popular choice for plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.
In this article, we look at the top 10 CPVC pipe manufacturers in India, discussing their contributions to the industry and what makes them unique in the market.

Heat Pump Hot Water Heater In India
It is very important to note that the performance of the heatpump depends substantially on the temperatures of the source and sink. Much like a steeper hill needs a lot more initiative to climb on a bike, greater temperature level distinctions in between the source and sink of the heatpump require it to function harder, and can reduce performance. Establishing the ideal size of heat pump to make best use of seasonal performances is critical. These facets are discussed in even more detail in the Air-Source Heat Pumps and Ground-Source Warmth Pumps sections.
White And Blue Water To Water Heatpump

A closed-loop system attracts warmth from the ground itself, using a continual loop of buried plastic pipe.
Heat pumps do not straight utilize any fossil fuels like gas, gas, or oil.
Actually, they're frequently made use of as an all-in-one a/c remedy since they give home heating, air conditioning, air filtering, and dehumidification for your home.
Heat pump water heaters can be set up in a selection of places, from an unheated garage to a heated laundry room, from balconies to terraces.
A gaseous cooling agent is pressed so its pressure and temperature level increase.
The reverse-cycle ac unit is a wonderful example of heat pump technology.
The antifreeze service must be acceptable to local ecological authorities. You must not use water from a spring, fish pond, river or lake as a source for your heat pump system. Fragments and other issue can clog a heatpump system and make it inoperable in a brief amount of time. You need to additionally have your water tested for level of acidity, hardness and iron material prior to mounting a heatpump.
This guide, in addition to a buddy software program device, is intended for power advisors and mechanical developers, and is openly readily available to supply guidance on appropriate sizing. Actually, they're typically utilized as an all-in-one heating and cooling remedy due to the fact that they give home heating, air conditioning, air filtering system, and dehumidification for your home. They are up to 3x much more effective than electrical heaters, and they give all-in-one heating, cooling down, detoxifying, and evaporating for your home.

At the same time, the distributing air is cooled down and therefore reduces the temperature level of the encased room to the wanted temperature. The evaporator is where the circulating refrigerant absorbs and gets rid of heat which is subsequently denied in the condenser and moved in other places by the water or air utilized in the condenser. The carbon impact of heatpump depends upon their specific effectiveness and exactly how power is created. An enhancing share of low-carbon energy resources such as wind and solar will certainly reduce the impact on the environment.
The water blend is pressed and experiences a warm exchanger, which extracts the heat and transfers it to the heat pump. A heatpump makes use of the same modern technology as an a/c unit, which cools your home making use of a cooling agent. The only significant distinction between an air-conditioner and a heat pump is that a heatpump has a reversing shutoff, which enables it to likewise heat your home. Find out about the different types of heatpump, how they function and why they might help to take on environment modification. It draws warmth from the air to ensure that the item continues to supply hot water in all weather conditions regardless of the water heater place.
Do heatpump function well for home heating?
Heatpump are extremely efficient heating and cooling systems and can dramatically reduce your energy costs.
Tumblr media
In a similar fashion, heat naturally moves from places with greater temperature to places with lower temperatures (e.g., in the wintertime, warm from inside the structure is lost to the outside). A heat pump utilizes extra electrical power to counter the all-natural circulation of warm, and pump the power offered in a cooler location to a warmer one. Since the Department of Power modified minimum SEER2 rankings for heat pumps, effective Jan. 1, 2023, there's no magic number for an excellent SEER2 score. Split system heat pumps should have a SEER2 of 14.3 or higher in all areas, and single-packaged air conditioning unit and heat pumps in all regions should have a SEER2 of 13.4 or greater. Talk with your neighborhood Trane dealership to aid establish the best one for your home.
While an open system drains pipes water from a well, a closed-loop system recirculates the antifreeze service in the pressurized pipeline. The warmth is moved to the cooling agent, which boils to end up being a low-temperature vapour. In an open system, the ground water is then pumped back out and released into a pond or down a well. In a closed-loop system, the antifreeze mixture or cooling agent is pumped back out to the underground piping system to be warmed once more. If a heat pump is undersized, you will notice that the supplemental heater will be used much more frequently.
And they have the significant benefit of being an all-in-one system-- they warm, air problem, filter, and dehumidify the air in your home. Gas heating systems and heat pumps are two of the most common kinds of home heating systems, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. The selection of outdoor piping system depends upon the climate, soil conditions, offered land, neighborhood setup costs at the site as well as municipal and rural guidelines. For example, open loop systems are permitted in Ontario, but are not permitted in Quebec. Some communities have outlawed DX systems because the local water source is the aquifer. During the cooling cycle, the heatpump also dehumidifies the interior air.

Blog #8 10.27.24
I didn't forget! I was backpacking all weekend like a cool person.
There is SO much to talk about!! First off, Adam and I had a BLAST! We went to the AMR and hiked the Eastern Lake Loop. It was so much fun and so much to discuss!!
it started at 6:30 AM on Saturday... I realized that, in order to hike the trail from the trailhead, we had to have parking reservations in advance.. Which we didn't have. After seeing sun rain and the clearest double rainbow i have ever seen, I picked up Adam and we went to breakfast to decide what to do. We both got the best eggs benedict i have genuinely ever had (will be going back) and decided to just. wing it and try lol. We got in the car and started driving, and google maps actually took us to the ferry to get across the lake. We didn't plan on this, and asked the ferryman when the next ferry left --- it left five minutes after we got there! We were SO stoked. We got out of the car and talked about zebra mussels before getting on the ferry. The ferry was SO cool --- it was kinda old and rickety, but so awesome!! we had a blast on it!!
After the ferry, we drove through the most beautiful terrain I think I've ever seen, and then we got to the parking lot of the trailhead. Like I predicted, we were turned away... But we found (slightly illegal) parking just down the road! We got out, got our stuff put together, and walked to the creek. We were pretty far from the trailhead, and the creek eventually met up with the same trail that we were trying to get to, so we decided to just follow it. The first time we tried to follow was a bust --- it turned into a verticle cliff lol. The second time worked, though we did have to go through some sketchy property... "dementica". The river is SO beautiful!
we found this really cool, old, wooden pipe --- we followed it for a while before dipping to the river to walk on the rocks. it was so genuinely beautiful, i can't even begin to explain. everything was perfect. We chilled out for a bit next to the river, and then continued on our merry way, eventually making it to the first bridge!! woohoo!!
we continued along the (actual) trail, stopping frequently to look at the incredible views and the trees. I explained to him how to identify certain tree species, and by the time we left, he had it down! we also stopped to loon call haha. we talked about pretty much everything under the sun as we walked, and stopped at Beaver Meadow Falls to admire. It was so genuinely beautiful, I could have died. We decided to eat our tuna then, and broke into the cans (literally broke into... i forgot a can opener oopsie). the tuna was really good, though a little gritty from the rock we used to open the cans. After our tuna break, we continued onto the final stretch --- and finally, to the lake! the lake was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen in my entire life. Massive mountains came down to meet the lake, and there was a unique overhang that gave it a memorable appearance. It was WINDY! windy as fuck! we struggled to put up the tarp, but once it was up, it was great. We set down the wool blanket I brought, and then tried for 20 minutes to zip our sleeping bags together. we did it! but at what cost? keep reading to find out lmao
Then, we made dinner! We drank hot coco (delicous) and made sludge -- I made the mistake of adding a gravypacket, and that made it WAY too salty. Adam said he still liked it though, which is good! The hot coco was REALLY good too. The soup was just okay.... I am so mad at myself for adding the stupid gravy packet! i should've added water, that would've helped. oh well. I also burned myself pretty bad making the soup... and melted the plastic (seriously --- who put that there?) on my boiler.
Once we set up a bear bag (which wasn't really bear proof at all haha) we brushed our teeth and then star gazed a little. We talked about profound things, with me dropping a nuke about the seasons being cased because we live in a snowglobe and Adam dropping a bomb about us dying and returning to the lake. I find comfort in the fact we'll both think of the lake as we die... even if we don't, I find comfort in the fact that we both were impacted by it. I don't want to die, I don't want to leave this life, I don't want to leave Adam. I find comfort in the way we share our lives.
Speaking of, we went to bed and kissed lmao. I asked him what we were, and he asked me what I wanted, but I deflected it by asking him what he wanted. He explained that he really likes just being my friend, but that he likes me, but that he isn't ready for a relationship. I do not blame him! He mentioned that he wanted to focus on platonic relationships, which I also get. It's still only the second month of college, and I don't think that he's been away from home a lot, so I am not upset. To be honest, I am not upset that we're not dating. I like the idea of taking it pretty slow, and even if it doesn't go anywhere, I am so SO grateful the universe has given me the chance to kiss him and hold him again. God knows I missed his touch. I really like kissing him.
My feelings on it are pretty simple. Adam is an incredible person, so whether he decides that he wants a relationship or he just wants to be friends, I'll adapt and be happy. It may seem push-over of me, but I'm being so serious when I say that I'm just happy to be a part of his world. He called me and Ollie two of the best people he knows, and it melted my heart. to be compared to ollie is CRAZY to me! That's what I really love about Adam... We can both be a bit mean (playfully) to each other, but he always makes me feel appreciated and loved. I really appreciate Adam. Anyways. So, yeah, we kissed and it was the best ever and I am so so happy. I don't think I'm going to tell any of my friends... I want to see where this goes before I tell them lol
The night was really rough. Adam slept a little (he snores a little and it's ADORABLE), and we cuddled the entire night... I was not as easily put to sleep. It was REALLY widny and I get a little scared of wind... There was also something circling our tent for a bit, so I was clutching my bear spray for dear life. Then, the second half of the night got WICKED cold... Our sleeping bags (poorly zipped together because of a differing zipper pattern or whatever the fuck) weren't really cutting it, so my feet were FREEZING. It's okay tho <3. I love sleeping with Adam... He's really comfortable lol.
We woke up the next morning around 8:30, though we didn't get up till nine. He's so cute in the morning... His hair gets all messy (of course, whose doesn't haha). We finally got up and broke down camp (all while freezing). It was so goddamn cold!! i swear the windchill made it 10 degrees. Breaking up camp was actually pretty fun, we got all our stuff put away and then said goodbye to the lake and the mountains and the moss. Adam knows a lot about moss -- it's really cool! i never thought about it much until him and I started hanging out. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking of that hot coco we had. That was really fucking good hot coco. Anyways. We got our stuff packed up, said thank you to the trees (esp the cedar) and left. We started on our way back, making a quick detour to see rainbow falls --- SO worth it! genuinely the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. It was so amazing, the way the water cascaded down the cliffs, the rocks themselves, the ice that had formed... it was all perfect! I'll have to post a few photos when I upload them to my computer.
After that, we continued on the east river trail. It was a beautiful hemlock forest, classic even. Open space, large rocks, good moss. We walked for a while (with me telling him about Coyote and the Boulder), until we reached a little overlook. We took a break here, and a little nap. I love sleeping on this dude. He's the literal best. We woke up and got out a snack, then kept walking. We hit the road in no time --- it's INCREDIBLE how far you can go when you're not bushwacking! We walked through a beautiful neighborhood (take a shot every time I say the word beautiful) with an even prettier country club, and then made it to the car. At the car, we ate our celebratory sardines and took another nap (for like... 2 hours). Again, he's so comfortable to sleep on. I really appreciate him.
We started driving home. We decided to not take the ferry, as it was pretty late and we weren't sure if it was running. We drove instead to the coast of the lake, and then across a bridge --- it was so beautiful (shot!). The mountains, and the trees, and the waters were so incredibly gorgeous... I couldn't believe my eyes. As we drove, I fell asleep on Adam's shoulder (teehee). We listened to music and his dad called, and my mom called, and etc etc lol. Dropped him off, we said goodnight, and that was our trip! we are def doing it again, it was SO fun!!!!
I had asked Lucy to do my stall on Sunday, but she forgot, so I ahd to go do it. It's okay though. That was my faulltttt...
