Top Image Submission Sites to Boost Your Online Visibility

In the digital age, images have become an integral part of online communication. They convey messages, evoke emotions, and capture attention in ways that words alone cannot. Whether you're a photographer, blogger, business owner, or simply someone looking to share visual content, utilising image submission sites can greatly enhance your online presence. These platforms offer a stage for your visuals to shine, reaching a broader audience and increasing your visibility. Here's a roundup of some of the best image submission sites that can help you make an impact.
Flickr: As one of the pioneering platforms for image sharing, Flickr remains a popular choice for photographers and enthusiasts. Its user-friendly interface allows you to categorise, tag, and organise your images into albums, making it easier for others to discover and appreciate your work.
500px: Geared towards photographers, 500px is not only an image submission site but also a community of artists. With its emphasis on high-quality visuals, the platform provides a showcase for your best work. The built-in social features encourage interaction and feedback from fellow photographers.
Instagram: This social media giant needs no introduction. Instagram's visual-centric nature makes it an ideal platform for sharing images. Utilise relevant hashtags and engage with your audience to maximise your reach and build a loyal following.
Pinterest: Focused on visual discovery, Pinterest allows users to create boards and "pin" images they find appealing. If your content aligns with popular categories on the platform, it can spread rapidly, driving traffic to your website or blog.
DeviantArt: If you're an artist looking to showcase a wide range of creative work, DeviantArt is a vibrant community to consider. From illustrations to digital art, this platform offers various categories and allows artists to interact with one another.
Unsplash: With its dedication to providing high-quality, royalty-free images, Unsplash is a go-to destination for bloggers, designers, and content creators in need of captivating visuals. You can also contribute your own photos and gain exposure.
Imgur: Known for its simplicity and ease of use, Imgur is an excellent platform for sharing images quickly. It's often used to share memes, GIFs, and viral content, which can lead to widespread exposure.
Behance: Owned by Adobe, Behance is a platform for showcasing creative work across various disciplines, including graphic design, photography, and illustration. It's a great place to connect with potential clients or collaborators.
Shutterstock: While primarily known as a stock photography marketplace, Shutterstock also allows contributors to showcase their work in a personal portfolio. This can attract the attention of buyers and other interested parties.
Reddit: This diverse platform is home to countless subreddits dedicated to specific interests, including image sharing. Find the relevant subreddits for your content and participate in discussions to gain visibility.
Incorporating image submission sites into your online strategy can yield numerous benefits. They provide exposure to a wider audience, improve search engine rankings through backlinks, and can even lead to potential collaborations or business opportunities. However, it's essential to approach these platforms strategically:
Choose Your Platforms Wisely: Not all platforms will cater to your content or audience. Select the ones that align with your goals and target audience.
Quality Matters: High-resolution, engaging images will always stand out. Invest time in creating and curating your visual content.
Engage and Interact: Simply submitting images isn't enough. Engage with the community, respond to comments, and participate in discussions to build relationships.
Respect Copyright: Ensure you have the right to share the images you submit, especially if they're not original creations. In conclusion, image submission sites offer a powerful tool to enhance your online visibility and share your visual content with the world. By leveraging these platforms strategically and maintaining a consistent presence, you can effectively showcase your work and connect with a larger audience than ever before.

It's almost July so 'tis the season, and I haven't really seen an information post go around despite Tumblr being full of artists and OCs, so for those not informed -
What is Art Fight?
copied from https://artfight.net/info/about , illustrated by Queijac
Art Fight is an annual art game that lasts for 1 month. [ Note: usually takes place during July ] Users can register on the site to join in. Each year, participants are split into two teams to which they are assigned randomly.
[ Illustration: a furry character colored blue and a human character colored red brandish art supplies at each other like weapons. ]
Players "attack" people of the opposing team by making art of original characters you choose belonging to members of the other team. You are free to use almost any style (see Attack Rules section of the rules).
Your team receives points based on what you create for the other team with each attack.
[ illustration: the blue furry character shows off a red drawing to the red human character, who is bending down to see it and looks excited. ]
The artist that receives the attack can then counter that attack by drawing the character belonging to the person who attacked them, or pay it forward by attacking a different person on the other team.
At the end of the month, the team with the greater score wins.
[ Illustration: the red human is sitting at a table with drawing tools in front of them thinking of a blue character. They are holding a pen and looking determined. ]
But remember, while there are point scores, the real goal is to celebrate characters with your fellow artists. Art Fight is about giving and recieving amazing art. â„
If you're interested in joining up before this year's event period starts (or during it! You can join at any time) come and take part here ! The teams for this year are going to be revealed on the 23rd, so you have plenty of time to add your characters and scope out potential targets :3c
Extra info:
Digital art and traditional art are both accepted, including sculpture, fursuits, 3d modeling, animation, and more!
There is sometimes a bit of site downtime at the start of the event as traffic spikes. This is normal, is briefer each year, and will resolve after a bit. I recommend downloading a few ref sheets in advance if you plan on drawing from the first minute
Don't start art early! It's against the spirit of the thing to sneak in extra work time. If you're just doing it to give people art, you can always make it a normal, no-points-involved gift!
Character reference images and attacks created have to be non-sexual. The site has content filter guides and submission rules that go into more detail about what is and isn't allowed!
Don't have character references finished? Here's a quick guide on what's best to include at the minimum.

ART CAMPAIGN BOOST SUBMISSIONS:
edit: i hit the image limit for this post, so any new additions will be included here
the tag is starting to get kinda crowded (great problem, dw). i just thought compiling them all here would make things easier for everyone to find! all of the art displayed below is free to use for the purposes of promoting vetted gfm's here on tumblr. no credit is needed unless specified (marked = ***). if you have any questions regarding how to craft a post using any of the art provided -> please do not hesitate to reach out to me! note: please press follow post as i will most likely need to update this masterlist from time to time.
some info is below the cut on how to best utilize this material. please read it in its entirety before using any artwork. thank you đ€
learn how to make art for this project here:
---
this project has gained a lot of momentum and has shown very promising results. the level of engagement once art is attached to a vetted gfm increases significantly. you will see what i mean as i have linked example posts of how to best use these pieces to help families in need.
i currently have a list of over 20+ families that i am spotlighting in my own personal progress tracker (the list has gotten so long that i now need to make a second version to accommodate all the families trying to get in contact with me).
this art campaign boost is truly meant to be utilized by anyone. i would sincerely appreciate it if y'all could take some time and pick maybe 1-2 people from this list and use the art below to create your own signal boost posts on the families' behalf. as someone who is periodically tracking their progress- i know that donation rates have slowed for a number of them. i am one person and can only do so much on my own. the essence of this initiative is to get more people to mobilize as a collective. it will take everyone to get on board in order for these families to be able to reach their goals. that means spotlighting their accounts/campaigns periodically.
you need to keep up the momentum.
the individuals you are helping currently live in areas with minimal internet connection, meaning it is very difficult to spotlight themselves on their own. especially since this site is continuously suppressing/deleting their accounts. they need you to interact with their content. tumblr isn't like other social media sites. it's known for being very 'anti-algorithm' and it's common culture for many of us to not really care about our levels of engagement (i.e. follower count/amount of notes per post). it's very hard for your own content to "break" your inner circle of followers and gain traction if the topic of the post is not "popular" or "trending" these families are not operating on this site the same way you are. you may be using this platform as a means to "just vibe" but they are using it as a desperate attempt to raise essential funding to save their lives. the importance that their posts be elevated cannot be overstated. anyone who has ever created any sort of og content here knows how quickly a post can die out if no one interacts with it. this cannot happen with them.
tips for making your own signal boost post* (*for vetted campaigns):
-> make it easy to read + eye-catching: the problem i am seeing when you search many of these families' accounts is that their "tag" (username of their account) is full of the same types of posts (i.e. a generic response to their initial message to another person on tumblr) <- aka it is very easy for people to tune out which is the opposite of what we want to happen. creating your OWN posts in response to their asks allows the art to appear FIRST when people look up someone's account via tumblr's search bar, which will attract more attention to their accounts. it also forces people who are making these posts to actually sit down and read the stories they are sharing with the rest of their mutuals/lurkers alike -> include verification sources: the main reason people are searching for these accounts is b/c they are trying to see if it is okay to reblog/share their campaign with their own following. if you address this plainly and early on in your post that includes artwork -> people are more likely to interact -> tag the account you are promoting: please include the families' account as one of your #'s so it will appear when you search for their names on tumblr. also try @'ing their account in your post so it'll be easier for these families to find your work. some of them are incredibly new to the platform and may not be aware of all its features. something that you may find intuitive may not be as easily understood for these individuals. your role is to make them as easy as possible to find for others so they can gain more support. --- don't have time to type out a whole post for a family on their behalf? -> interact with one of theirs! attach something nice/helpful to their posts so it is more readily available for others to share. the same rules apply from above. as i said before, some of these accounts are brand spanking new and are not formatted in the same ways as others that may be more well-versed on how tumblr operates in terms of promoting their campaigns. (for example: even if the account has been vetted/verified by multiple trusted individuals- the owners of that account may not know to include that info in their posts about their campaign every single time they post. you can make their lives easier by including that info for them by reblogging one of their og posts and adding the necessary info on their behalf)
you can also find a more comprehensive list of vetted campaigns by el-shab-hussein/nabulsi here <- their list is now over 200+ with several campaigns that are "in the red" (very low in funding). please do not hesitate to try to spotlight anyone from this list as well!
el-shab-hussein also has a masterpost pinned here with additional campaigns (including those for other countries like sudan)
alright i've explained enough- time for the art!
artist: @rhq274 | @rhq2744 *** free to use, credit required meet raghad (read and share full post here) Hello, I am Raghad Qanou, a medical student from Gaza City. SJM Villain Week Rules/FAQ
Welcome to SJM Villain Week taking place on the 1st - 7th of October to kick off the scariest month of the year.
In order to inspire creativity within the fandom, we are running a prompt submission form to collect your ideas for what the prompts should be for the event! Each day will have two prompts, as well as a free day on the seventh.
The prompts list is now up! Here is the link to the list
Click the read more to see the rules and FAQ for this event week!
To help this event run smoothly, here are the rules to follow
This event is about the big bad guys of the SJM universe, but that does not mean that hate will be accepted. Remember to be kind and respectful to everyone joining in on this event. Any kind of hate mail sent will be deleted and the user will be blocked, no questions asked.
Projection of harmful stereotypes will not be allowed. Any kind of portrayal of the villains is welcome, as long as everything is kept respectful, and it is clear that certain kinds of behavior are not justified.
All relationships and interpretations of sexualities are welcome! So long as your villain of choice is at the forefront of your content. Shipbashing is not permitted. You are also of course welcome to create general and non-ship content.
No A.I content is permitted and therefore will not be reblogged.
NSFW and mature content is allowed, so long as everything is appropriately tagged. That means on Tumblr, their guidelines for NSFW images are followed, and on AO3, or other posting platforms, the work is sufficiently tagged and rated according to that sites rules.
As we are dealing with the villains of the story, it needs to be clear, graphic depictions of Rape/Non-Con will not be reblogged.
Whilst we all have different headcanons, and interpretations of characters, these are some characters that are not villains, and content centering around them will not be reblogged or otherwise featured during this event-

WWDITS KINK MEME

Why not start a revival? Send in your prompts!!
This is an experimental format, so hopefully it works out!
SUBMIT A KINK MEME
FAQ (also under cut for mobile users)
What is a kink meme? Basically a public (usually nsfw) prompt, popularized on Livejournal. One person will throw out an idea that they donât or canât fulfill themselves in the hopes that it will spark creativity in someone else! A kink meme can be as simple as pairing + trope, or a full well-thought-out AU!
How do I submit a kink meme? Use the ask button on this blog and it will go into the queue! You can submit anonymously (traditional), but it will be posted either way - make sure you click anonymous if you donât want your face on it!
How do I fill a kink meme? Any way you like! You can write a fic directly in the reblogs, post it on another site and provide a link, or even post a 32 part series in the replies! We just ask that you link the prompt on your creative piece and/or reblog the submission with your piece included or linked (whichever applicable). If you are putting an explicit fill in reblogs, please remember to add a community label if the original post does not already have one!
Can I fill/submit an NSFW prompt if I am under 18? NO!!!!!!!! Doing so not only endangers you, but the adults in fandom, as well. We canât stop you from seeking out certain content if you want to see it, but you should not be interacting directly with adults on sexual topics.
Can I fill a prompt with art? Absolutely! If your craft is drawing, painting, crocheting, stop-motion, needlepoint, cosplay, etc etc etc and you are inspired by a kink meme, we encourage you to participate! We also encourage adding alt text to any images.
What content do you allow in submissions? All kinks are welcome - yes, even that one. We will reject submissions that are not WWDITS-based, are hateful in some way, or appear to be submitted in bad faith. Venting, character-bashing, or incomprehensible prompts will be deleted. Transphobia, racism, homophobia, antisemitism, ableism, etc will get you blocked. Due to the limitations of the mods, we are currently only accepting submissions in English or Spanish.
How are kink memes tagged? Tags will include any and all pairings, kinks, applicable tropes, and potentially triggering content to the best of our ability. If we have missed something or you would like to request a certain trigger tag, send us an ask! We cannot guarantee that we will be able to tag for everything, however, and it is important to remember to protect yourself and your online experience. Submissions with explicit language will have community tags attached.
Can I submit SFW prompts? Of course! Despite the name, kink memes arenât just for porn.
Can I submit prompts with characters from the WWDITS movie, too? Absolutely!
Can I submit prompts with my OC? No, but not because we donât like your OC - we just donât know them! These prompts are for someone else to fill, so it has to include characters they know.
Can I submit reader-insert or y/n prompts? Yes, as long as the other characters are from WWDITS!
Can I submit RPF prompts? No, as we prefer that this kink meme focus on the characters in the show rather than the actors who play them. However, celebrities who have appeared in the show as themselves count as characters and are fair game (within reason)!
Can I submit crossover prompts? Yes, under certain conditions. This is a WWDITS kink meme, and we want to ensure those characters have the spotlight! So if your prompt is mostly about the crossover property, or if the WWDITS character is simply one of a medley of different characters, it may be rejected. No Harry Potter, please.
Can I make my own kink meme for a different fandom using this blog as a template? Of course! We encourage this - please bring kink memes back to fandom!!
Who are the mods? Just some adult fans who long for the insanity that was LJ back in the day.
Mod the Impaler - they/them ModMilla - she/her

Updated submission guide!
Hello, and welcome to wikipediapictures! This blog is not run by a bot; I am a human, and I select every photo and tag each post that you will see here (except submissions). Part of what helps me run this blog and continue posting content is your submissions and suggestions. Because I love to see what you guys can find in the vast collections of Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia articles, I have created this new and improved submission guide!
If you read all this and decide it's too much work, that is A-okay! You can always shoot me an ask with a topic or article title that you'd like me to post from. Now, with all of that out of the way, let's get started.
1. Choose an image
Maybe you want to contribute, but you don't have a specific image in mind and aren't quite sure what to look for. Not to worry, there are plenty of ways to find something you like! If you have an image picked out already, perfect--you can skip past the next 3 bullet points.
Wikipedia Main Page - This is a great place to start! There are a variety of daily topics and images that can help spur your imagination ("Today's featured picture", "On this day", "Did you know...", etc.) Just click on one and start exploring!
Wikipedia app (Google Play and iOS) - Wikipedia's app is great for reading and has a variety of features that are designed to help you explore new content. In particular, the "Random Article" feature located on the homepage will help you discover topics, people, and places that you have probably never heard of before. Personally, this is my favorite feature to use when I'm not feeling particularly imaginative, and I utilize it a lot when I'm mass-queueing posts.
Wikimedia Commons - Just searching Commons is great when you basically know what you're looking for but haven't decided on anything specific. Or maybe you find an article on a topic that really interests you, but it doesn't have pictures or the pictures aren't good examples of the topic. Chances are, searching Commons for the subject you want will get you some great results. Some of the best posts I have here are photos that I (or my followers) found by just searching Commons until I saw something I liked!
Before moving on, please check if I have posted your photo before! Statistically it isn't very likely, as there are nearly 100 million photos on Commons, but I have posted many photos from popular articles and commonly searched categories. I tag pretty aggressively, so you should be able to find what you are looking for by utilizing the search function on my blog. For example, if you wanted to submit an image from the Wikipedia article titled "Moon", searching that keyword on my blog will get you these results.
I reserve the right to not post any submissions that I recieve. I haven't had to veto anything yet, but as a rule I won't post any overtly sexual or NSFW content.
2. Saving your photos from Wikimedia Commons
No matter where you found your image, you will need to save the original file that is hosted on Wikimedia Commons. I know this is a bit confusing, but bear with me! Chances are, the photo you see in the article has been compressed. By going back to the source file on Commons, you can save the highest resolution version and locate the photo description that was posted with it, which you will need for the next steps. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to do that on desktop/mobile browser and the app.
If you found your photo by searching Commons, just click/tap the "More details" button located at the very bottom of the expanded view of your image and follow steps 3-4.
Desktop/mobile browser:
1. Go to your article of choice and left-click or tap on the image you wish to use.
2. Left-click or tap on the "More details" button on the bottom right hand side of the page. On the mobile site it will just say "Details".
3. You are now viewing the file preview. Underneath the image, left-click or tap on the link that says "Original file" (highest resolution).
4. You are now viewing the full-resolution Wikimedia Commons file. Right-click or hold down on the image to save it to your computer/camera roll. You can now move on to the next section!
App (I have iOS, but it should be the same on Android OS):

1. Go to your article of choice and tap on the image you want.

2. Tap or double-tap the information icon in the bottom right hand corner (circle with a lowercase âiâ inside it). After this point, the steps are the same as 3-4 in the section above.
3. Formatting your submission
So you have a photo you want to submit, perfect! Now's the time to format your post. Start by opening a new submission and selecting your chosen photo fom your computer or phone camera roll. Take a quick look at what I have on my blog and you will notice a pattern of how I like to format things. There are a few important parts to consider: the caption title, the link, image description, and tags.
Caption title: if you are submitting a photo you sourced from an article, the post caption should be the title of the article. If the photo is not in an article, just use the file title that you see on Commons. Here is an example of a photo sourced from an article, and here is an example of a photo sourced from Commons. You might ask, "Well, why not just link everything from Commons if they all originate there?" The main reason is that I like providing context, which is what referencing the article does. Most photos on Commons arent in any articles, so there isn't an alternative.
Link: Same as with the caption, if you are sourcing from an article, link the article. If you are sourcing from Commons, link back to Commons. Please view the source links for the two posts I just mentioned in the previous bullet point to see what I mean.
Description: ALWAYS use the description from the original file as it appears on Wikimedia Commons, regardless of where you sourced the image. This is because an image description in a Wikipedia article can be changed to anything the editor wants independently of what the original file description said, and oftentimes those descriptions are wrong. You can find this description under the image when you are viewing the file on Commons; just copy and paste the description into the body of the submission underneath the linked caption and finish it off with " - via Wikimedia Commons". If this description is the same as the file title or only slightly different (like in the moon post linked above) feel free to leave it out.
Tags: You don't have to tag with relevant tags if you don't want to, though it definietly helps. The automatic tags are sufficient and you've already contributed a lot just by choosing to submit!
4. Hit "Submit" and wait for me to review and post it!

welcome to your personal reserve of post-TF images!
ooh I've always wanted to make a gimmick blog
the premise is Exactly What It Says On The Tin: you see a scene from a piece of media that looks like a post-TF, you send it here. I deliver one post-TF image daily. will it be yours? I don't know! it probably will be if this gimmick bombs!!
for those of you who have no idea what a post-TF image is, I first have to explain what TF is. it's an abbreviation for "transformation", commonly used on art-sharing sites like DeviantArt and FurAffinity, in which a person (known as a TFee) turns into someone or something else. could be anything! a post-TF occurs after the TFee has transformed, usually looking pretty confused and inspecting their hands, or hooves, or paws, or--
you get my point.
transformation and post-TFs are not exclusively fetishistic in nature. they're also a way to express yourself and your identity. it's also just really interesting trying to imagine how life would change when you're physically someone else. since I'm not aroused by TF, this blog will be entirely SFW. I'm not anti-kink, but considering I myself am going to upload lots of cartoon screencaps, it's best that the two don't mix. this goes for any submissions as well.
do your part! add to the great post-TF image vault!

Another update on...
The Community Palette Project
Hey all! It's been a little while since I posted about this, as I'm largely on break from public modding at the moment, however, I'm stopping in to give this a final push!
I've decided submissions will close at 11:59 PM EST on August 31st!
This will give me time to put together the files and polish things up so that this celebration of our community can (hopefully) be published just around the drop of the new DLC.
Wait, what's this?
This project aims to add a whole bunch of new colors for mod creators to use while recoloring existing garments and props, or while creating their own new content for Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, it will add 720 new colors - each of which must be named. In celebration of the many wonderful people in the fan community, as well as all of the love we have poured into the game and our characters for it, I am endeavoring to have all 720 colors named after the Vs, non-V-OCs, and NPCs that are near and dear to our hearts. And that means I need your help!
How can I be involved?
Being a part of the project is easy - you'll just need to fill out a quick form in order to tell me which name you want assigned to which color.
We're currently at 536/720 colors named. This means almost 200 colors still need naming, and so you are more than welcome to submit the form many times!
I feel that the project will be more authentic if all of the names are sourced from the community, so please, feel free to claim colors for your V and non-V-OCs, your favorite NPCs, and other characters within your own characters' lore and background. Name a color after your Cyberpunk 2077 OC's mom. Name one after their best friend. Name one after their favorite pet goldfish. Go wild!
đ The form can be found here. đ
You can see which colors remain in the second palette-wide image.
And on a final note...
Please reblog this post.
Because there is an off-site link in it, there's a good chance this post won't show up quite right in the tags. In order to get enough eyes on this to get it finished, it would be really helpful if you could help me pass it around. <3

Disability Pride Month has now come to a close. And y'know, I wouldn't normally mention that on this blog, but you all probably know by now that I do my best to make my blog accessible with image descriptions and plain text wherever possible (though I will admit the latter is a more recent development). Between that and a question I've gotten a couple times, I do want to mention something...
IF YOU WANT A GREATER CHANCE OF SEEING YOUR SUBMISSION TO THIS BLOG REBLOGGED IN A TIMELY FASHION AND NOT STUCK IN DRAFT LIMBO FOR MONTHS, CONSIDER ADDING AN IMAGE DESCRIPTION SO I DON'T HAVE TO DO IT MYSELF.
[PT: If you want a greater chance of seeing your submission to this blog reblogged in a timely fashion and not stuck in draft limbo for months, consider adding an image description so I don't have to do it myself. / End PT]
Due to the limitations of time and having a singular physical form that does not always work as it should, it can take me a long while to properly describe the submissions I get, especially if they are comics or videos. Thus, I implore you all: please try adding your own image descriptions when submitting to this blog. They help a great deal with the accessibility of this site and allow more folks to enjoy the same posts you enjoy. Some of the folks that can benefit from image and video descriptions are blind and visually impaired folks who use screen readers that can't tell what an image is of, mentally disabled folks who cannot watch videos and need transcripts of them, D/deaf and hard of hearing folks who cannot hear the videos in question, literally anyone whose Tumblr interface is pulling a fucky-wucky and refusing to load images, and more.
If you are not sure where to start, I would like to suggest these two guides: one, two (the first comes with links to examples and the second comes with links to more resources). There is also this collection of templates for adding image descriptions to memes! If it's art, this museum has a guide for describing it. If you need assistance, this Discord server is happy to help, as well as this list of blogs. And if you'd like my advice... Ask yourself two main questions when writing image descriptions:
How would I describe this if I were talking about it to a friend who's never seen it?
Aside from that description, is there any information I feel would add to the understanding or experience of this image/video?
I fully understand if there are those who cannot add descriptions for whatever reason. I myself am not always able to, hence why so many submissions get stuck in the drafts for so long. But it would be a big help to me and so many others if those who are able gave it a try, even if it's only from time to time.
Thank you for reading!!

Favorite Fairies Results and Final Thoughts:
Tinker Bell from Peter Pan wins the Tournament!
A close final round as Rani, the Water Talent Fairy, gave our winner her closest match.
Now before we go any further, lets give a big round of applause to all the fairies and fae who were nominated and competed. Just because they didn't win we don't want them to think we don't believe in them!
Rani does get a few crowns of her own: she was the Favorite from the Disney Fairies series characters, and she received by far the most submissions. If you counted all the submissions (including the non-Disney ones) she was more than 10% of them!
We also don't want to go without recognizing a few other moments. LIlia Vanrouge! What a great fan base he has?! His and Maleficent's battle was the most voted in and decided by only 8 votes (less than 2%)! And we saw y'all trying again against Fairy Godmother making our second most voted in poll this tournament!
There were few other close first round matches as well, just a difference of 3 votes could have shanked up the tournament!
On the other side, Silvermist: She got on the bracket by being in of the top 5 submitted characters, yet never did anyone give us propaganda for her! She did get some support in the tags, and was able to defeat the Disney Fairies version of Tinker Bell to make it to the semis.
If you had asked us to fill out a bracket considering how we imagined the voting going, we had a very different expectation. We saw Tinker Bell's only real competition being Maleficent. And we must have been feeling a premonition for the horn aesthetic because we thought the Mistress of Evil was going to win it all...
Thank you to everyone who participated in our mini tournament with submissions, asks, reblogs, likes, tags, and/or anything else. We would not have been able to do this with out you.
Finally the results you have all been truly waiting for: Where do you prefer to watch movies?
All of the propaganda was taken from the submission forms. The only character which had excessive amounts was Rani. Because she made it to the semis we were able to use all of it! Everyone else was the same each round.
The Art We Used:
We tried our best to use all the images which were submitted in the form. If a character had two different pics we used one for the bracket graphic and one for the face off graphics (eg Princess Marianne). Since Rani had more than three submitted pictures, we rotated through them for the face off graphics. (we added one on each side for the finals) For the few which had no submitted pictures we used pictures from the wiki (usually the profile picture).
The backgrounds: On the general fairy side and for the bracket, we took frames from Fantasia/Fantasia 2000's segments (like the Nutcracker Suite). On the Disney Fairies side they were all scenery from the Tinker Bell movies. These were lightened to not distract from the matches. The Finals background was from Pinocchio.
The font we found by googling. The site is fontspace.com and the name is 'Botanink'

Hello. I know an older person (a relative) who is a very good illustrator (as a hobby). They do have an email address but don't have a website (yet anyway). I'm encouraging them to draw maybe half a dozen or a dozen illustrations so I could submit them to some publishers on their behalf (those who are looking for or open to illustration submissions). Some of these sites mention having a website, others don't. Would the person have to be a professional illustrator or would this be okay? And would it be better for me to see if I can teach them to draw on an iPad or could I just scan on their handdrawn illustrations and email them for them? They're open to the idea but don't think they're good enough. I think they have a lot of natural raw talent, just wondering would publishers be open to illustrations from an older person who is very green to this and has no experience. What do you think? And could you give me/them any other advice? Thank you so much. Happy New Year!
I'd strongly suggest you not do this. I know you have the very best of intentions, and it's lovely that you're such a cheerleader for your relative. I'm sure they are very talented. BUT. Start by finding out what their goals really are. There are plenty of other ways for them to get their work out there. Maybe there are local art classes, where they can explore different mediums and just have fun and meet other artists and potential mentors. Art contests, or local magazines or journals that might publish work from local artists. If they really want to start a little cottage artwork business from home maybe they can create beautiful cards or prints that can be stocked at a local shop or something like that, and you can help them print them out and be their 'sales rep' if you like. Investigate these types of outlets for your relative's creativity, there's no need for their fun and pleasant hobby to become a difficult, demanding career, unless that is something they are TRULY passionate about.
(Not everything needs to be monetized. Normalize just doing things because you like them!)
Because yeah - - you can't really "dabble" in professional book illustration. Either you are a professional illustrator, which means publishers might hire you -- or you aren't, which means they definitely will not. Now, you can be a NEW professional illustrator, that's a thing, people aren't born as professionals -- so, again, if that's really something that your relative WANTS TO DO, truly wants it, OK -- but they are gonna have to do the legwork. You can't be submitting work on their behalf or holding their hand the whole time. Age is not a factor, but professional illustrator is a real job, not a fun-time hobby, and they do have to be willing and able to do the work themselves.
So if becoming a professional children's book illustrator is truly of interest to them, I'd suggest they start by:
-- Taking some picture book illustration classes, whether online or in-person -- specifically those, not just general "art" or whatever. The rules and goals of book illustration are just different from other kinds of art! This is not, strictly speaking, necessary, some artists are indeed entirely self-taught -- but it would probably be QUITE helpful to make them feel more confident (or alternatively, help them realize that this is not where their talent wants to take them!). COST VARIES.
-- They should also read a lot (A LOT) of modern children's books to see what the level of work is that they'd need to be doing, and different ways to tell a story through art. Because it's not just about having pretty images -- that's great, but they have to be able to *tell a story* through the pictures, also, otherwise they have just created random images, not a book. Start with the books that have been Caldecott medalist and honor winners for the past 5 years, they should all be available at your local library. FREE FROM LIBRARY.
-- I'd strongly recommend getting and studying a used or library copy of WRITING WITH PICTURES by Uri Shulevitz. While there is one section that is quite dated (because PB illus are typically delivered digitally now, and this book is from before the digital days) -- the majority of the book, about the actual craft of telling a story through pictures, is super-informative and brilliant. FREE FROM LIBRARY OR UNDER $10. USD
-- Consider joining the SCBWI; it does cost money to be a full member, but if they are serious, it may be worth it -- there are loads of resources online and in person, conferences, local meetups, workshops, etc, where they can connect with other creators and professionals to research and learn the ropes of children's book publishing; there's also a forum where they can ask questions, etc. $99. USD
-- Alternatively (or in addition), there are also kids-book oriented Facebook groups for this kind of thing that have seasoned pros answering newbie questions -- KIDLIT411 would be a smart one to join, if your relative is on Facebook. (Kidlit411 also has a website with resources!) FREE.
Once they have done all these things, they will need a professional-looking digital portfolio -- these can be physical works that are scanned in, or works created digitally (or a combo -- physical works that the artist tweaks layers in photoshop, etc). There are other posts here about what should be included in such a portfolio, look in the FAQ. This way they aren't just sending publishers random images all loosey-goosey, they'll be presenting themselves as somebody that might actually get hired. But I really wouldn't bother with this part until/unless they've done most or all of the previous suggestions.

Why Social Bookmarking Sites Are a Game-Changer for Organizing Your Internet Finds
Introduction: We all know how easy it is to stumble upon fascinating articles, videos, and images online, only to lose track of them a few days later. Enter social bookmarking sitesâthese tools let you save, organize, and share your favorite online finds with others. If youâre someone who loves curating content, these sites are perfect for keeping your internet discoveries in one place and sharing them with a community. Hereâs everything you need to know about social bookmarking and why itâs worth your time.
What Are Social Bookmarking Sites? Social bookmarking sites are platforms where users can save (or "bookmark") their favorite websites, articles, images, or posts to revisit later. The twist? These bookmarks are often shared with a community of like-minded users, making it easier to discover new content and find inspiration. They allow you to organize and categorize your bookmarks by topic, interest, or any way you like, making your content easier to navigate and share.
Top Reasons to Use Social Bookmarking Sites:
Centralized Organization: Bookmarking sites let you collect your favorite content in one place. Forget the hassle of scattered bookmarks across browsers or apps. You can keep everything organized with tags, folders, or custom categoriesâeverything in one tidy space.
Discover New Content: The social aspect of bookmarking sites is what really makes them stand out. Many sites let users share their bookmarks publicly, which means you can discover new content based on what others are saving. Itâs like having an endless supply of inspiration, curated by people with similar interests!
Save and Share: Not only can you save your own favorite finds, but you can also share them with others in a personalized way. Share your bookmarks with your followers or friends on the platform, creating a community of shared interests. It's a fantastic way to create content that others can engage with.
Access Your Bookmarks Anytime, Anywhere: Most social bookmarking platforms have mobile apps or web access, so you can access your bookmarks from any device, at any time. Whether youâre on your laptop at home or your phone on the go, your curated collection is just a tap away.
Personalized Collections: With custom tags, folders, and categories, you can organize your bookmarks in a way that suits you. Whether itâs âart inspiration,â âfunny memes,â or ârecipes to try,â you can quickly retrieve what you're looking for, without endless scrolling.

@pinepickled: I need them to ban AI already. It's so fucking disappointing that they're protecting AI works
I feel you, and if I never had to think about fanfic being written with AI ever gain, I would be so happy.
H o w e v e r . . . âš
The problem is that it's essentially unenforceable. If you were an editor and an author known to you personally submitted something to you that they cheesed with AI, you could catch that. You'd have the limited volume and familiarity with their usual output to have a chance at making an informed decision. But Ao3 volunteers have a huge volume of fic to deal with, are unfamiliar with the authors, and can't hold Ao3 writers to any standard of good writing.
If Ao3 hosted images (it doesn't) and was primarily an art site (it isn't), it could implement software that scanned submissions for likelihood of procedural generation and then have volunteers review those images. There is A LOT more data in an image, and therefore a lot more chances for that data to give away that it was procedurally generated. (This is why images are more of a pain to host than text. The quantity of data.)
Text contains far fewer clues. It's hard to scan, by software or human eye, for machine-made weirdness. If you're a teacher, you can fuck around and leave hidden or weird instructions in your assignment to trick AI into including dead giveaways. But fanfiction is open-ended. You can't trick someone into walking into your trap if you don't know what direction they're even going in.
So if it's not enforceable and you say you'll enforce it but don't, just to scare people away, you're losing some of the trust your users have in you as an organization. And people who are breaking the rules learn that they don't have to respect your rules at all.
If it's not enforceable and you try ANYWAY, you end up with a lot of false positives when looking for AI (people writing in something other than their native tongue, people who are just bad at writing and can't carry a plot, people who express their thoughts in a "weird" way) as well as a lot of false negatives (people who your software or volunteers don't catch, people whose generated fic is pinged but lie and convince the Policy & Abuse team that they were flagged falsely, further muddying faith in the enforcement system). Now your users not only don't trust you to enforce your own terms of service, but feel harassed for being reported as using AI just because they're bad at English or writing.
As an organization that values the faith people have in it, the very last thing you'd want to implement is any major policy that is completely unenforcable, as this would be.
Best case scenario is Ao3 might finally include a mandatory toggle to self-flag a fic as procedurally generated. And best outcome is a fair number of people, who would otherwise straight-up lie to keep their fic up if AI was banned, might instead be honest and use that toggle. And then the rest of us might somewhat reliably filter it out when looking for something to read, hoping to find a real human that wants to connect with us through stories that mean something.
