PART 6
---
You waited for him to bolt. To arrest you, something. But he just looked at you, his expression didn’t change. Just waiting for you to explain.
You took another deep breath. Here goes.
“Eric and I were high school sweethearts. We got married five years ago. He was a cop, like you, worked for the local PD. A couple of years later we had Ellie. She would’ve been Sarah’s age now. She was the light of our lives. We were so happy. We had each other, our careers going well, we were thinking of having more children. So, about two years ago, I bought a new car to prepare for that, a bigger one, you know? But it was problematic. Engine kept stalling. It would just stop working. We kept sending it back to the dealership, and they fixed it, and then the problem would happen again. He told me to just sell it. It was dangerous, he didn’t want it to stall while I was driving. But it was my dream car, and he hadn’t been too thrilled when I wanted that particular model, so, not wanting the ‘I told you so’ speech, I didn’t listen. I kept negotiating with the dealership, hoping they would replace the car for a new one, but they kept postponing. Then one day…” You took a deeper breath, shaky now, emotions starting to fill you up.
Joel held your hand, thumb caressing your knuckles, silently urging you to go on. He never took his eyes off you.
“One day, the car stalled again. I was supposed to pick Ellie up from daycare. But I obviously couldn’t now, so I called Eric to ask him to get her. He didn’t answer. The car wouldn’t restart, I was by a very busy road, and he’s not picking up. So finally, I got my sister Lennie to pick Ellie up. When the tow truck got there, Eric called. So, I answered, but it wasn’t him, it was his partner.”
You stopped talking, trying to compose yourself. He squeezed the hand that he had never let go in the first place.
“There was a bank robbery, you see, and he had been at the scene when it happened. He was trying to talk the robbers down, but then his phone rang. It startled them, and they shot him.” Tears were falling in streams down your face now. How you could still talk, you didn’t know. “It was me, Joel. I called him. He was just there to deposit a cheque. He didn’t think he needed to put his phone on silent. My call killed him, Joel. Because the car I refused to sell despite his advice stalled, yet again!”
“Hey, hey, hey, look at me,” he said, his hands on your face. “You did nothing wrong, okay? You couldn’t have known.”
You gave a weak laugh. “You haven’t heard the rest of it.”
He went back to holding your hands, sitting cross legged now, across from you.
“After the shooting, I needed to arrange for the funeral, you know, but I had Ellie, so sometimes, I had to bring her with me. The day before the funeral, I was driving to the funeral home to bring them his uniform. I had Ellie in her car seat in the back. And the damn car stalled again, this time, while I was driving, just as Eric had feared, it just came to a complete halt and a truck came and…”
Your body became a wreaking, sobbing mess, your heart shattered into smaller pieces, thinking of your sweet, sweet Ellie. Joel moved to hug you, tears in his eyes, but you stopped him. You needed to get through this.
“The truck rear ended us at full speed. The car crumpled like an accordion. She was trapped, my seat was pushed to the front, and I couldn’t move, couldn’t turn my body around, I couldn’t reach back to comfort her. She was trapped between the back seat and the passenger seat, and all I could hear was her breathing slowing down. She had a bad head injury, some internal bleeding in her abdomen; she was gone before the paramedics got there. I was right there Joel, I was right there, just a couple of yards away from her, but I couldn’t reach her, and my baby died alone! Why didn’t I listen to Eric? My whole world, gone, all because I refused to sell that stupid car! I killed them both, Joel!”
He surged forward and hugged you. He lifted you up and placed you on his lap. You cried, oh, how you cried. He kept saying it’s not your fault. It’s not your fault. Shh, shh, you’re okay, you’re okay, it’s not your fault. You could feel his tears fall on your neck as you cried into his. You hadn’t cried like this in a year. After six months of crying your eyes out, you were all cried out, left like a zombie, living but dead inside in Lennie’s basement, not even willing to stay in the guest bedroom, the one Ellie used to sleep in whenever she had sleepovers at her Aunt’s.
You cried, and cried, and cried. The last thing you remembered was Joel’s voice coaxing you, his warmth around you, his hands holding your head and rubbing your back.
---
You woke up to warmth, to soft puffs of air on your neck, arms around your body… and something furry on your face.
Huh?
You sat up, too quickly for your own good, your head felt three sizes bigger, you brain wobbling in your cerebral fluid, making it hard to focus. When your sight finally focused again, you studied your surroundings. Joel was rousing, perhaps from you shooting up away from his arms, Jello on your pillow, ah… that was the furry thing… thank God, and Sarah curled up on the floor, sleeping soundly. You suddenly realized that Sarah must have placed Jello on your pillow, perhaps a way to comfort you. Aww.. sweet girl.
Wait. When did she come in?
Shit. Did she see? Did she see her father spoon you?
Wait, Joel slept here? He spooned you?
Fuck.
Your body moved without your control - you ended up at the corner end of your bed, knees up to your chest, staring at Joel.
He finally opened his eyes, blinking a few times, stretching while at it, and finally saw you.
“Morning,” he said, yawning, before seeing the panicked look in your eyes. “Hey, nothing happened. You were crying, you fell asleep, I just didn’t want to wake you.”
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. “Okay,” you said, “but there’s another problem.” Your eyes went to Sarah, sleeping soundly on your living room floor.
“Shit, how did she get in?”
You shrugged. “She saw you spoon me.”
He visibly swallowed. “I spooned you?”
You nodded.
“Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
“You didn’t?” You didn’t know why, but you were suddenly offended.
“I mean, of course, I would, if you wanted me to, but last night, I wasn’t aware I was doing it, so… yeah…”
Awkward silences should be illegal.
“Coffee?”
“Please.”
You heard him make a call, telling whoever it was he won’t be coming in today. You looked over, and he was lifting Sarah up, and placing her on your bed, giving her kisses on her forehead before coming to you in the kitchen - the whole three steps it took to get to your kitchen.
The two of you sat on your porch, enjoying your morning coffee, sleep evident on your faces. Jenny’s kitchen door opened, a worried looking Jenny emerging.
“Joel, Sarah…”
Joel pointed inwards towards your door. Jenny sighed, relieved, turning around to go back in, but did a double take. Omera, Winta and Will came out from the house next door, all three stopped when they saw you and Joel with your cups on your porch. Omera and Jenny hid elated smiles from coming on to their faces, failing miserably, and Will just gave Joel a knowing nod, patting him on the shoulder as he passed by.
The two of you were too exhausted to make anything of it.
“You fell asleep before I could say this,” Joel began, “but for what it’s worth, I don’t think you were responsible for what happened to your family, Lynn. I get why you felt that way but trust me. Things like this happen, and no one is to blame. It sucks, but unless you pulled the trigger, or deliberately stopped your car to be hit, you were not responsible.”
“Easier said than done.”
“I know. Is that why you came up here?”
“Yeah… I was a shell of a person; I didn’t want to leave my sister’s basement.”
“Did it help?”
“I think so. Although, this asshole neighbour of mine accused me of unthinkable things, so that was a bit off-putting,” you teased, bumping your shoulder onto his, realizing how closely he was sitting to you for the first time.
He choked on his coffee.
“Shit, I will spend the rest of my life apologizing for that, won’t I?”
“Well, for the next six weeks, anyway.”
“What do you mean?” his face was a little shocked, he didn’t know?
“I’m only here for the summer. Help with the tourist rush.”
There was something about the way he was looking at you. Like he was, disappointed? Sad? Regretful? All of the above?
Your thoughts were interrupted again when Jenny came out, a basket in her hand.
“I need to go get some eggs from the farm, and to the market for groceries. Can you watch her til I get back Lynn?”
“I took the day off, I’ll be here. Wait, I got eggs and groceries yesterday,” Joel said, frowning a little.
“Well, all the eggs are in the trash, so were the minced meat and fish you bought. I was cleaning the fridge last night, must’ve thrown them out by mistake. Getting senile in my old age. So, we don’t have eggs, and we don’t have anything for lunch,” she said, beginning to walk towards her car. She stopped abruptly. “Sarah’s gonna be hungry when she wakes up. Can you make her something Lynn? You have eggs, right? I’d ask Joel, but he burns toast.”
You laughed, telling her it’s not a problem. Joel hid his face in his hands, his ears red from embarrassment.
“The stove hates me,” he said defensively. “Not my fault.”
“Daddy? Lady?”
You both turned around. Sarah was standing by the door, Jello in her hand, looking far too chipper for a three-year-old who had just woken up.
“I’m hungry.”
You and Joel got up, you ushered her inside, asking her what she would like for breakfast.
“Omled.”
“You want Omled too, Joel?”
“Sure,” he said, smiling at his daughter’s attempts to name her favourite dishes. There had been a few since she started talking. Egg Furries, Sunshine Op, Skemble, Ha Boyd, and now, Omled. This girl loved her some eggs.
The three of you sat and had breakfast together, Joel demolishing his plate of mushroom and pepper omelettes, before looking sheepishly at you, asking you if there were some more. You gladly made him another, the two of you joking around, entertaining Sarah and Jello all morning, missing the happy looks Sarah gave you both. Joel helped you clean up despite protests from you and told you he should probably take Sarah home. The two of you found her and Jello on the rattan chair outside, Sarah whispering conspiratorially to Jello, whispers which stopped as soon as she saw you.
Joel took Sarah’s hand, asking her what she wanted to do that day, he’s not going to work, he said. Anything fun? Sarah thought for a bit, and said she wanted to go to the zoo.
“The petting zoo near the daycare,” Joel explained to you. “Maybe best to go today before school lets out next week.”
Just as he was helping her step off the porch, Sarah turned around and went back inside, pulling your hand to the area where you hung your clothes. She pulled at your pink dress.
“Lady, you wear this? We go to the zoo?”
“Oh, sweetie, you should go with your Daddy, spend some time with him,” you said, getting down to her level, worried Joel might want some alone time with her.
“I don’t mind,” his voice answered, a bit too quickly. He had followed the two of you back inside, curious what Sarah was up to.
“You sure? I wouldn’t want to intrude…”
“You wouldn't be intruding. We’d be happy to have you join us, won’t we, BabyGirl?”
Excited nod.
“Okay.”
His face broke into a wide smile, shit, he had a dimple?
“Great! Uh… pick you up in an hour?”
You nod, watching Sarah excitedly skip towards her father.
---
Joel was nervous.
You had forgiven him. You had listened to him as he told you about Sarah. You had told him about your family.
You had cried yourself to sleep in his arms.
He slept with you in his arms.
It was the best night sleep Joel had ever had, even if it was just a few hours. He woke up feeling refreshed and light.
You had joked about his faults with him.
You made him and his daughter breakfast.
The three of you had breakfast together.
He had never felt like this before. For a moment, as he was helping you clean up after breakfast, he imagined that was what his mornings would be like if the two of you were together.
Joel had gone through his life taking care of people. At first it was Tommy, shielding his little brother from their parents, and then foster parents, bullies from school. When Tommy came of age, he dedicated himself to the law, training to be a police officer, taking after his foster father’s footstep, wanting to do good, wanting to keep people safe. When Omera came along, he helped raise Winta, looking after them both as if they were his own family, especially when Will was offshore. When Javi passed, he helped care for a grieving Jenny, accepting the Sheriff position, wanting to provide for her, not that she needed him to, but after everything she and Javi had done for him and his brother, all he wanted was to take care of her. Then, Sarah came along. He focused all his time and energy on her, spending his time worrying about her well-being, wanting to give her everything she could ever need.
So, his interactions with women were limited to one-night stands and first dates, and even those stopped the moment he saw Sarah. Joel had never had the time for a romantic relationship. Never had the time to even think of one. When you came along, his heart opened wide. He was besotted by you. For once in his life, he was finally open to the possibility of a relationship with someone. Of course, he fucked it up royally, and had to spend almost a month pining for you silently, waiting for you to forgive him.
And now, when you finally did, he found out you were leaving in six weeks.
But he had six weeks. Joel was determined to make the most out of these coming weeks.
You were going to the petting zoo with him and Sarah.
Was this a date? Well, not really. He didn’t ask you out, Sarah did. But this would be his first outing with you. He needed to make a good impression.
So, yeah. Joel was nervous.
Sarah had picked out a shirt for him to wear. She picked one for herself too, to match him. She made him wear cologne. Climbed on his lap and ‘styled’ his hair for him. She made a racket in the kitchen, telling a very excited looking Jenny, who was back from 'the market', surprisingly devoid of any groceries or eggs, that Daddy was taking her and Lady to the zoo. Joel tried to act like nothing was wrong, but it wasn’t as if Jenny had just met him yesterday. She could tell her son was nervous. By the time he was knocking on your door, Sarah in his arms, he felt as if his heart was about to jump out of his mouth.
And when you opened the door, it did.
You looked perfect. Your pink dress matched his shirt and Sarah’s dress. You had put a bit of make up on and styled your hair slightly differently from the way you normally wore it, not that he had spent time studying your face or anything. He wanted to compliment you, wanted to tell you how beautiful you looked, but nothing came out, and he was starting to feel like a creep, gawking at you open mouthed without saying anything. Thankfully, Sarah did say something.
“Lady, so pweedy!!! Here, Lady, for pweedy Lady!” She handed you a pink rose.
Oh, God. She had stolen one of Jenny’s flowers from the kitchen table. When the heck did she get a flower? Were you going to think he assumed this was a date? What if you bailed? He could feel beads of sweat starting to form under his collar.
“Oh, sweetie, thank you! It’s so beautiful! You look pretty too!” you leaned in and gave her a kiss on her cheek.
Joel can smell your perfume. Shit, you smelled good.
“Wow, Sheriff Miller, you clean up nice!” you said to him, and he almost dropped Sarah from nervousness. He leaned in and gave you a quick kiss on your cheek, trying so hard not to linger.
“Erm… yeah, thanks, you smell clean too.” His eyes immediately closed in frustration.
Sarah smacked him on the ear. “Daddy! Silly Daddy!”
Joel wanted to die. What kind of a fuck up was that?
Luckily, you just laughed and said thank you, you aimed to smell clean.
“Now,” you said, “normally, I would just wear jeans and a shirt, but since my wardrobe was decided for me, I didn’t. However, I had to take a stand. I am not wearing cute, pretty shoes to a zoo. For a zoo, we want comfort.” You stepped out, showing them your sneakers. You hadn’t exactly packed for dates, not that this was one. “Tadaa!!!”
Joel laughed, immediately feeling a bit less nervous at you light-heartedness. “Lady after my own heart,” he said, “Comfort over fashion. You look perfect. Shall we?”
---
The three of you walked around as if you had always gone out together. Sarah made you hold Jello and took your other hand and Joel’s to swing between the two of you. She was so happy, so active, you never would’ve thought this girl had heart issues not two years ago. The two of you took turns holding her up whenever she wanted to see better or pet a larger animal.
You stopped for lunch at a small café. Sarah made Jello sit with Joel, and she sat next to you. You helped her with her lunch, wiping her mouth when she made a mess, and had handwipes ready to clean her up before and after lunch, the mother in you happy to do this again. You caught Joel staring at you a few times, a small smile on his face. That flipping in your stomach you told Maria about had evolved to a fluttering, your tummy felt full of imaginary butterflies every time he looked at you.
The people at the zoo, as well as the visiting locals knew Joel, of course. They kept saying hello to him. Some of them, especially those who knew you too, gave sly smiles at the sight of the three of you together. You knew what it looked like, you had matching outfits on, but surely that’s nothing? You and Joel went along with Sarah’s request, nothing more. But the ladies, tourists and locals alike, lingered a bit too much around Joel, telling him how good he looked, ooh-aahing over Sarah, telling her how cute she was, completely ignoring you. But she stepped on your left foot, hugged your leg and hid her face in your skirt, not wanting to participate. And every time, they looked you up and down, before Joel told them the three of you should be getting along, placing his hand on the small of your back to walk away. There was a bit of satisfaction on your part that he and Sarah were paying so much attention to you, but you had to stop and tell yourself that you were only here because Sarah wanted you here. So stop preening, Lynn. He was just being nice.
By the end of your little trip, Sarah was back in Joel’s arms, all tired out, but excited from the day. Just as you got to the cruiser, she asked you to take a picture. You took your phone out and snapped a picture of them together, their brown eyes and smiles identical to one another’s, down to the single dimple on their right cheeks. You were about to put your phone away after showing them the picture, when Sarah pulled you in to be closer to the two of them. “One more, Lady! You, me and Daddy!”
So, you did. The three of you in a single frame, looking like you belonged together, all in matching pink outfits, after a happy time at the petting zoo.
Sarah passed out as soon as Joel strapped her in her car seat.
“Thank you for coming along today, she was so happy. She might sleep until tomorrow. We’ll be hearing about today for weeks to come now,” he said. “We never thought we’d be hearing her talk, ever, and now she never stops, I guess we have you to thank for that. So, thank you for that, too.” His right hand let go of the steering wheel for a while, giving your hand a squeeze, before placing it back on.
“It’s no problem. I enjoyed today. I had fun. She is adorable. I’m glad she invited me. I hope that’s okay for you.”
“Yeah, of course it’s okay. I’m glad you had fun.”
The rest of the drive was quiet. But not uncomfortable. It astounded you how comfortable you were with him, considering before yesterday, you avoided him like the plague.
When you got home, you waited while Joel unstrapped Sarah from the car seat, carefully picking her up to bring home. But she woke up, rubbed her eyes and insisted to walk from there. As you were unlocking your door, Sarah asked for a ride on the bicycle. Joel tried to tell her no, Lady must be tired, but you said it’s okay. You could only take her on these ‘rides’ on Sundays and Mondays, you worked on the other days, so you didn’t mind, you loved spending time with Sarah.
Just as you were putting the helmet on her head, she refused. No, Lady. No hat. Sorry little lady, you said. No hat, no bicycle. It’s the rule. Joel stood there, smiling widely, watching you and his BabyGirl interact. She reluctantly wore the helmet, and as you were wheeling her off, she turned to Joel and told Joel to come along.
Those imaginary butterflies in your tummy had now travelled to your heart. You were glad you didn’t have to say goodbye yet.
The three of you walked around the housing area, Joel telling you about his and Tommy’s life before Jenny took them in. It was clear he adored her and her husband, Javi. Even at 18, he said he felt as if for the first time in his life, he had people he could rely on, who had his back, and he saw what a good influence they were on Tommy, on Benny, all the boys they took care of. You ran into Benny and Will and the guys by the farm, all of them whoop whooping the three of you, making vroom-vroom noises for Sarah, who giggled so aggressively she almost fell off. You were worried Joel would react badly, but he just held her and laughed, telling her to be careful. Something was different about him.
When you got back to your house, Joel walked to you door, telling you he enjoyed spending time with you today, thanking you again for coming along, and Sarah’s bike ride. He kissed you on the cheek, and this time, he let it linger for a bit, before closing the door behind you.
You leaned on the door and closed your eyes.
Yeah… you were falling for him.
‘Told you so.’
Oh shut up. You hated it when you were right.
On the other side of his kitchen door, Joel was doing the same, feeling the exact same way.
---
Joel went to bed happy that night. He spent the entire day with you. He could still smell your perfume on him. You were no longer angry at him. Of course, there was the issue with you leaving soon, but for now, he would focus on what he had. And today, for the first time in her life, he got to see Sarah run around like any normal, healthy, happy child. She was at the petting zoo, running around, squealing with excitement, and didn’t turn blue. She was a healthy child now. He truly believed that, too. He was so thankful, he needed to do something. Something he had been putting off.
He gave his friend Dr Garcia a call that night, telling him to go ahead with their previously discussed plan.
---
The next morning, you decided to go to the morning market before the lunch service, wanting to get some fresh fruits for Sarah. But when you got your bike out, your helmet was nowhere to be seen. You were frantically looking around when you heard a loud crunch from out front. You ran towards the sound, where Joel, already in his uniform, was checking underneath his cruiser.
Your helmet was under his car, crushed to pieces.
What the heck? How did it get there? You hung it on the handle when you got home from the market at 4 am. Did it walk to the car by itself?
Joel noticed you were there, his face horrified by what had just happened. “I don’t know what happened. I reversed and heard a crunch. I didn’t see it, I’m so sorry. I’ll buy you a new one. Frankie will have some to your liking, I’m sure.”
You were about to wave his offer off, surely this was not his fault.
“Oh no!!!” a tiny voice piped up. “Lady, your hat broke.”
You and Joel turned around. Sarah was standing on the porch, still in her pyjamas, Jello in her arms, looking dramatically shocked at the sight she was seeing, complete with her hands on her tiny face.
“Daddy, you take Lady in your car. Her hat broke,” she said.
“No, it’s okay, I’ll just…”
“No Lady, no hat, no bazkel. Isza rule!” and pulled your hand towards the passenger door. Did she just parrot your words back at you? She waited until you got in. “Daddy, take Lady. I go in now,” and took off.
Joel watched her run back into the house, slamming the door behind her. He got in the car with you. Both of you stunned in silence, before both of you spoke.
“What just happened?”

Chapter 3
Aurora POV -
I didn’t mind biking the thirty minutes from the trailer park where I lived to the nice suburb. Being alone with my music and a direction was meditative. This morning however it wasn’t as nice as usual. Unable to stand for leverage I was moving slower than usual, my injured right side making the whole process more difficult.
Janine’s latest catch, ‘Paul’, was becoming increasingly violent. I did my best to stay out of his way but the two bedroom single wide trailer was tiny, cramped and rundown. Most of my time at home was spent locked up in my bedroom, venturing out only to fix everyone dinner or use the restroom.
Not long now and I would be able to afford a deposit for a room somewhere. I let daydreams of the day I left that place forever fuel me through the pain in my ribs and ankle. I’d gotten distracted, inadvertently letting the dinner pot boil over. Paul took offense and sent me to the floor with a nasty shove before a swift kick to the ribs. I’d scrambled to my feet and limped to my room, slamming the door shut and locking it behind me. A fresh wave of anxiety shuddered through me.
I planned to ask Josh today if he would show me a few things I could do to be stronger and defend myself better. It might rouse his suspicions but I was just going to tell him a half truth, I wanted to be safe when I returned to campus someday. That was a safe and believable excuse in my mind.
Taking a deep breath I tried to force myself to walk normally in spite of the sharp pain that came with each step. Maybe I was naive to think I could disguise my injuries but I was going to try.
Answering the door rather quickly he welcomed me in and our day progressed as usual. Fortunately for me Josh had to tend to those cancelled meetings and would be busy until lunch time. I thought I had it under control with some Tylenol but was proven wrong.
Jason wanted a specific shark cup and plate set that was stored on a high shelf. Normally pulling out the little step stool and grabbing those things wouldn’t have been an issue.
Normally.
When I tried to put weight on that right ankle it gave and I yelped, falling backwards fully expecting to land hard on the kitchen tile.
Instead a strong pair of arms encircled my middle and I made contact with a hard, warm chest instead of cold, unforgiving floor. The pressure on my ribs hurt and I gasped, clutching at Josh’s forearms.
“Rori!” Jason’s alarmed voice hit my ears and I immediately tried to right myself and go to him but struggling against the hold hurt too much.
“It’s okay kiddo, I got her. Where are you hurt? Other than your foot?”
“Ribs.” It hurt to take in a breath to speak.
Nodding he maneuvered one arm under my knees and one under my shoulders, easily hefting me up into his arms. “I got you.”
I wanted to curl into a ball and never look at him again, this was too embarrassing. Settling me in a chair at the kitchen table he took a very clinical approach to examining my ankle and ribs. If I hadn’t been so upset the feeling of his fingers dancing on my rib cage would have made me dizzy. He let me catch my breath before asking the dreaded question.
“What happened Rori?” Josh sounded calm and collected as he went to retrieve an ice pack. Passing it to me he set about fixing lunch while waiting patiently for an answer.
“I tripped walking up my steps last night and fell. Nothing major, just some bruises.”
“You’re lucky they’re not broken.” My stomach dropped. It sounded like he was scolding me.
“Rori okay?”
“Yeah little man, I’m all good! Just an accident, no big deal!” I raised my hands in the air and smiled at Jason who looked relieved before going back to playing with his toys.
Josh set lunch on the table, ravioli, before collecting the little boy and depositing him in his booster seat next to me. Sitting down on my other side all of his moments were stiff. “You wouldn’t lie to me would you?”
My palms went sweaty and my heart pounded. I hoped my panic didn’t show on my face. Not trusting my voice I shook my head no and stuffed a piece of pasta in my mouth, making a pleased sound. I swallowed the food and the emotion all in one go. “No. I’m so sorry. It shouldn’t stop me from what I need to do again.”
“It’s fine. You rode your bike here yeah?”
I nodded and shoveled another bite in my mouth to avoid talking.
“Me and Jason are gonna drive you home this afternoon, once my meetings are done.”
A fresh wave of panic rolled through me. “No-no, please you don’t have to do that.”
“You’re in no shape to be riding your bike anywhere.” His voice was so cold. It made me want to cry.
“I don’t want to be a pain. I can ride the bus-“
Jason and I both jumped when Josh slapped the table. He seemed to catch himself before slamming it with full force but still made a loud noise. Quickly he looked at his son with a grin to ease any fear the little boy had.
But when he turned to me I could see it didn’t reach his eyes. His expression flattened out and it was like he was reigning himself back in.
I squeezed my thighs together as a confusing rush of emotions hit me. Fear of the consequences since I’d angered him and a strange flash of arousal that felt out of place but there it was all the same.
“Don’t argue with me.”
“Yes sir.”
Jey POV
Sitting through these afternoon meetings around the new Bloodline merchandise was torture. I’d never been a fan of this side of the job anyway and whatever was going on with Aurora was eating at me. Had I been a little bit of a bully and let my anger win for a minute? Absolutely but it will get me what I want which is some more information.
I was pretty sure someone was hurting her at home or she had a boyfriend. Thinking through my options I texted my twin who was also on the zoom call looking like he’d rather eat a shoe than look at yet another piece of concept art.
‘**Can yall take little man this weekend?**
I watched him respond on the call.
**’Yeah, you got something to do?’**
**Yeah**
It wasn’t often that I hid things from Jon but he didn’t need to know I was planning on essentially stalking my barely legal nanny for a couple of days. I sure as hell didn’t want to see Trinity’s face if she found out. But I had to know what was going on and figure out how to help her.
As of right now my plan was little more than to storm in, beat the ever living shit out of whoever I needed to, sweep her up and move her into my home and bed permanently. Far from foolproof but it was a work progress.
Finally the meeting came to a close. Heading downstairs I took a few deep breaths to make sure I had my temper fully back under control. It had been hard not to shake her by the shoulders and demand she tell me the truth so I’d settled on slapping the table for emphasis. I’d instantly felt like a jerk when both Jason and Aurora jumped in fear but we’d recovered.
The sounds of their laughter came from the kitchen, she was letting Jason ‘help’ her make pizza for dinner. Looked more to me like she was chasing the veggies he threw every which direction except at the dough in front of him but I enjoyed watching them together all the same. She genuinely seemed to enjoy spending time with him and he loved her already, taking to calling her “my Rori”. Clearing my throat to announce my presence I felt a stab of regret when anxiety fell over her face and she quieted instantly. Jason on the other hand clambered down from the step stool and rushed over, arms outstretched.
“Daddy! Look, making pizzas!” He waved excitedly towards where Rori leaned against the counter next to the bowls of ingredients. I tried to smile reassuringly at her but she just ducked her head, hiding her face with her hair.
“Nice, want some extra help Rori?” Jason was already trying to get down and back into the mix so I let him. It wasn’t the nicest thing, forcing her to talk to me, but she’ll learn to speak up for herself in time.
She would have to as my woman. I don’t know exactly when I decided that was going to happen but here we are.
Finally glancing up at me she bit her lip nervously. “Yes sir.”
An image of her doing that while on her knees in front of me flashed through my mind. I liked that a little too much, liked this oddly submissive behavior. It told me a lot to, her response to my anger. Fawning is what they call it, if I recalled the therapist correctly.
I stepped into her space deliberately, causing her to shy away from my hand. Persisting I gently caught her chin with my thumb and forefinger making her eyes go wide. Tempting as it was to push further and run my thumb over her abused lip I settled for making her look at me.
“M’sorry I scared you earlier.”
She blinked, her eyebrows drawing together in confusion. “You’re what?”
I snorted. “Girl I’m tryin to apologize to you. Pay attention.”
To her credit she recovered quickly. “I’m sorry, I am. I - it’s okay. Let’s get these pizzas in the oven.”
She pulled away but before I saw her pulse pounding in her neck and her eyes dilate. It was obvious she was into what I was doing. Perfect.
A little over an hour later found us loading up her bike into the back of my truck and heading down the highway. It never ceased to amaze me what being on either side of the highway could look like. Some trailer parks were nice with well kept homes, flowers and friendly neighbors. Some were like ‘Martin’s Cove’ complete with meth trailers, cars on blocks and folks toting guns in the waist bands of their jeans. I bristled at the thought of leaving her here but dutifully got out to retrieve her bike once we’d pulled up to #37.
An ugly white man stood on the porch with a stupid look on his face. I hated him. Rori’s face showed a flicker of fear when her eyes landed on him and I wanted to kill him. I had a feeling I knew who was leaving the bruises. I held onto her bike when she went to take it from me.
“Uh, Josh? I got it. Thank you so much again.” I could feel my blood pounding in my ears. The man hadn’t spoken but hadn’t looked away from Aurora either.
“Promise to call if you ever need help.” She tilted her head but must have remembered earlier today.
“Okay, I promise.”
I nodded. “I’ll pull up at eight.”
It made me physically sick to let her walk away but I did it. Once they’d both gone inside I pulled away. Jason fell asleep before we made it home so I got him tucked into bed and set about putting a bag together for his stay at his aunt and uncles this weekend.
I was too worried to sleep well, knowing full well she could be in trouble. Instead I found myself praying whatever gods or ancestors might be listening. The morning couldn’t come soon enough.
Chapter 4
Aurora POV
I stood on the embarrassingly cluttered porch the following morning at 7:30 A.M. Janine and Paul were still in bed. Much to my surprise they hadn’t questioned me in depth, instead disappearing into her room after I made their dinner. I checked the calendar, it was the third.
Ah, her disability check had come in. They’d be flush with drugs for a couple days.
Great, that usually meant they’d leave me alone. And they had. Looking back at the front door yet again, it felt as if it were going to open and swallow me. That’s how it felt to walk into this house, like I was being eaten by a beast snd may never claw my way out.
Turning back I settled on the steps, flipping through my music. “Dirty Thoughts” started playing and I felt a flush start up my neck remembering what I’d done listening to this song last night. After securing my door that lacked a proper lock I’d lain in bed playing my interactions with Josh over in my head. Mostly the feeling of his thick arms and hard chest and calloused hands.
Only a few times, mostly due to lack of privacy, did I indulge the growing heat between my legs. Thinking about Josh had made the throbbing ache there unbearable and when I slid my fingers below the elastic waistband of my underwear I found myself soaked. While still very much a virgin I’d read enough romance novels to know what my body wanted from him. My heart and mind did too but they were a lot harder to make happy.
Carefully I’d started to feel myself, fingers dipping into my wet slit to awkwardly circle my clit while my other hand cupped a breast, lightly playing over a sensitive nipple. My inexperience was a pain though and after a few moments of awkward strokes I was worse off than before I started. Annoyed at myself for struggling I switched tactics to what I knew would provide at least a little relief.
Grabbing my ancient pillow I shoved it between my legs, balled up and pressed tightly to the small bud I was struggling to figure out. Closing my eyes I’d imagined sitting on his lap, straddling one of his big thighs while his hands cupped my bottom and his voice, deep and husky with want, encouraged me to move.
“C’mon girl, that’s it. Move for Daddy.”
It shamed me to think of him that way but I was so lost to the feeling it didn’t stick. Doing as imaginary Josh instructed I ground against the pillow, desperately seeking the short but intense flashes of pleasure it brought. If I did it long and hard enough I’d get a sharp spike that would somewhat ease the tension filling my body. It was nothing like “rolling waves” I read about but it did the trick and wore me out enough to sleep.
The sound of his truck rumbling up pulled me out of my memory and I stood, checking the time. 7:40 A.M., he was early. I needed to get myself under control, this crush was a distraction I didn’t need. What I needed was to get the hell out of this place before things escalated further and finish my degree.
And yeah I wanted kids and a husband and all that lovely stuff but I wasn’t naive enough to believe that Josh was the guy. He smiled at me, opening the passenger door and ushering me in. My heart did a cartwheel in my chest.
He had his choice of anyone. It would never be me and I was alright with that.
It didn’t stop me from wishing it were though.
“My Rori!” Jason’s voice was music to my ears. It wasn’t just Josh I’d fallen hard for after all. The toddler waving happily from his car seat in the back lit up my world and motivated me to get out of bed some mornings when I was depressed.
“Hey little man!” I smiled at him before turning to Josh as he pulled out of our driveway. This felt so normal and nice it was almost enough to make me forget where we were driving away from.
“Mornin. How was your night?” I noticed the dark circles under his eyes.
I blushed in spite of myself. “It was good. How about you?”
Josh raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment on the red in my cheeks. “S’fine.”
I mulled over my idea about asking for his help while chattering along with Jason. I’d couched the idea when he was so stern yesterday but he didn’t seem angry any longer and had apologized after all. By the time we pulled into the driveway I’d made up my mind. I spoke before he could open the door.
“Hey, Josh?”
“Hmm?” He tilted his head my way.
“Could-is it okay to ask- because if not I understand-“
“It’s fine just ask your question baby.”
My brain shorted out for a split second. He’s tired, don’t overthink it.
“Can you show me how to like, get stronger? And maybe how to, ya know, throw a punch? For when I go back to campus.” I bit my lip nervously, his expression was so neutral it was impossible to know what he was thinking.
Josh reached over to give my knee a squeeze and my warmth flooded through me. It was so quick I wondered if I’d imagined it but the genuinely warm half smile said otherwise.
“Hell yeah I’ll show you some stuff.”
My heart pounded as I followed the boys inside. I have to get a grip, he’s just being nice. A single quick squeeze doesn’t mean he’s into me.
I noticed the bag of Jason’s things on the couch and my heart dropped. If he was going somewhere else I may not have work for a while.
“Is little man going somewhere?”
“Yeah, my brother’s coming by to get him later, just for the weekend. I’m gonna get some sleep but we can workout some this afternoon, if you’re up for starting now. Just have to work around what’s hurtin.”
My heart soared. “Great, thank you so much.”
——
Jey POV
It was easy to sleep knowing she was safe downstairs with Jason and I made up for what I lost the night before. In my dreams Rori was beneath me, writhing in
pleasure while her fingernails dug into my shoulders and her lips whispered my name over and over like a prayer. Her voice got louder the closer she came to orgasm and I ground into her harder and harder.
“Josh…Josh…Hey Josh?”
Her voice went from thick with pleasure to confusingly loud. Slowly I became aware of someone shaking my shoulder.
“Huh?”
There was a soft giggle from next to me as the bed dipped a little. I realized the object of my dreams was sitting next to me nudging my shoulder. At the same time I realized I had a raging hard on.
“Jon’s here, figured you’d want to say bye to Jason before they took off.”
Shit was it after five already?
I had to get rid of her so I could get this under control. “Yeah. Be right there.”
When I didn’t move immediately she jumped up and ran like she’d been scalded. Maybe she realized she may have crossed a line coming in here, even if it was to get me up for something important.
I couldn’t wait to cross a hell of a lot more lines with her in this room.
But right this minute I needed to get myself presentable, something easy enough to achieve, at least temporarily, with a few deep breaths and splashing some ice cold water on my face.
Loading Jason into the car didn’t take long, he always loved staying with his cousins. Hugging him one last time I stepped back. My brother looked at me from the drivers seat, clearly wanting an explanation. Clapping his shoulder I smiled. “Thanks, got a leak and it’ll just be a lot easier to have guys out to fix it without him under my feet.”
The suspicion in his face melted away and we said our goodbyes. I’d miss Jason but I was excited about “working out” with Aurora, all alone. Not to mention I’d finally have a good chance to question her some. She stood in the kitchen tying up her hair when I walked back in.
“You ready?”
Aurora swallowed but nodded and I noticed her eyes flicker over me. My cock twitched, it was hot thinking she wanted me too. I still needed to clarify whether or not she had a boyfriend and while I couldn’t be certain it was that weird guy at her house who was hurting her I was pretty confident that was the case.
“Good, c’mon.” Leading her into the gym I flicked the lights on.
About 45 minutes later and she flopped on the floor, panting but smiling. Turns out she could throw a decent punch already. Settling behind her on my knees I let my hands fall on her shoulders and waited to see what she would do. Aurora stiffened but didn’t pull away so I slowly began to knead the muscles.
“You did good.” I don’t know if it was my fingers or my words that did it but she moaned softly, her cheeks blushing.
“Thank you.” Her voice was soft and shy.
Continuing up her neck I was gentle as I worked the tension there, surprised at just how tight she was. I decided to get down to what I wanted to know. “Got a boyfriend Rori?”
She blinked her pretty hazel eyes before huffing out a nervous laugh. “A boyfriend? No.”
Relieved, I let that concern go. “Aight. I didn’t think that guy in the porch yesterday was him but ya know, wanted to make sure.” I dug my fingers in a little harder and she drew in a breath with a gasp. My thumbs worked their way down her shoulder blades and her eyes drifted closed. Her muscles quivered under the threadbare tshirt she wore but my eyes were trained on the wet skin of her jaw and neck. I imagined what it would taste like to run my tongue along them in a long stroke.
“Nah, that’s just my mom’s latest boyfriend.”
“Latest?” I didn’t like the sound of that and based on where they lived I doubted these were high quality men drifting in and out of their lives. Already I hated this woman for putting Aurora in danger.
“Yeah, she’s just…I don’t know. She’s got some issues.” Aurora trailed off and I debated how hard to push. This was more than I’d gotten out of her before but I didn’t want her to shut down if I asked the wrong thing. I kept massaging her neck, working my way a little lower to her collar bone and she didn’t resist.
“How’s that feel?”
“Mmm, good.” Just when I thought she was really going to relax into me her phone buzzed. I hated the way she looked panicked when she opened the message. “Oh no, it’s getting really late, I should go.”
Reluctantly I let her stand and got to my feet as well. “C’mon, I’ll take you home.”
Her nerves seemed to get worse and worse during the car ride. Every instinct in me screamed to make her stay, to not drop her off at that trailer. Something bad was going to happen and I knew it.
This time, I reached over her to stop her from opening the door with one hand and grabbed her knee with the other. “Aurora look at me.”
She was startled but did as I asked.
“You don’t have to get out of this truck. But if you do, just promise to call me if you’re in trouble.” For a second I thought she was going to stay or maybe burst into tears. Instead she took a deep breath and smiled at me but it didn’t reach her eyes.
“I promise. Again.”
I squeezed her leg one more time before sitting back and letting her go. Something screamed at me to stop her but I didn’t.
I’d regret that sooner than later.

Best Car Title Loans for Self-Employed Workers | Full Finance
Introduction: Why Car Title Loans for the Self-Employed?
Vehicle title loans offer an efficient way for self-employed workers and freelancers to access quick cash without the typical requirements of traditional loans, such as proof of regular employment. These loans are especially beneficial for individuals whose income may fluctuate, as they don’t rely on a fixed salary or paycheck. Instead, the title of your vehicle is used as collateral, allowing you to borrow money based on the value of your car, truck, or even boat. This type of loan offers flexibility for self-employed individuals, providing financial relief in emergencies without the need for extensive paperwork or lengthy approval processes.
The Benefits of Car Title Loans for Self-Employed Individuals
Unlike traditional loans, which often require credit checks and proof of income, Auto Title Loans have less stringent requirements. This makes them an attractive option for freelancers, gig workers, and small business owners who may not have a conventional, full-time job but still have valuable assets. As long as you own a vehicle that is free from significant liens, you can qualify for a title loan.
Quick and Easy Access to Cash
One of the main advantages of car title loans is that they provide quick access to cash, often within a few hours or a day, depending on the lender. This makes them ideal for emergency expenses, such as medical bills, home repairs, or urgent personal needs. The loan amount is generally based on the market value of your vehicle, and since you maintain ownership of the car during the loan term, you can continue using it while repaying the loan.

Tumblr media
How Auto Title Loans Work
Car title loans allow borrowers to leverage their vehicle as security for a loan.
The lender holds the title until the loan is repaid.
Loan amounts depend on the car’s value and the borrower’s ability to repay.
Repayment terms are usually short, ranging from 30 days to a few months.
Key Features:
Available even if your car isn’t fully paid off.
Accessible without a bank account in many cases.
Benefits of Title Loans for Freelancers
Self-employed workers benefit from title loans due to the flexibility they offer:
No traditional income verification required.
Fast approval and same-day funding options.
Ability to refinance existing loans for better terms.
Requirements for Self-Employed Borrowers
While requirements vary, most lenders will need the following:
A clear or lien-free vehicle title (some accept financed cars).
Government-issued ID for verification.
Proof of residence (e.g., utility bills).
Vehicle inspection report to determine its value.
No Income Verification Title Loans
Title loans without income verification are ideal for those who lack consistent proof of earnings. Many lenders accept alternative income sources, such as:
Freelance contracts.
Bank statements showing deposits.
Gig economy earnings from platforms like Uber or DoorDash.
Boat Title Loans and Other Collateral Options
For self-employed individuals who own a boat, boat title loans provide another option for securing funds. Similar to car title loans, these require the boat’s title as collateral.
Popular Queries:
Can you pawn a boat? Yes, using the boat’s title.
Where to find boat title loans near me?
Tips to Choose the Right Title Loan
Compare interest rates and terms to find the best deal.
Check for hidden fees and penalties.
Look for lenders offering Online Title Loans for Bad Credit.
Verify lender legitimacy with tools like the Online Car Title Loan Verification.
Conclusion: Secure Your Loan with Confidence
Car title loans can be a lifeline for self-employed workers facing financial challenges. By understanding the process, comparing lenders, and knowing the requirements, you can find a solution that fits your needs without stress. Whether you’re considering a traditional car title loan or exploring options like boat title loans, ensure you work with a reliable lender for a smooth borrowing experience.

Top Investment Plans with High Returns to Secure Your Future
Finding the best investment plan with high returns is critical for anyone seeking financial stability and long-term wealth creation. High-return investment plans are designed to grow your wealth significantly over time, but they often come with varying levels of risk. Therefore, understanding different investment options and aligning them with your financial goals is essential.
What Makes an Investment Plan the Best?
An ideal investment plan should not only deliver substantial returns but also align with your financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment horizon. High-return plans often involve calculated risks, making research and diversification crucial.
1. Stock Market: A Proven Path to Wealth
The stock market offers some of the best investment plans with high returns for those willing to analyze trends and invest wisely.
Equity Investments: Stocks of high-growth companies can multiply your investment significantly over time. Focus on sectors with strong potential, such as technology, healthcare, and green energy.
Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs): ETFs diversify your portfolio by investing in a broad index or sector. This approach reduces risk while retaining the potential for high returns.
Growth Stocks: Investing in companies with rapid expansion and innovation often leads to impressive capital appreciation.
2. Real Estate: Building Wealth Through Property
Real estate is another best investment plan with high returns, offering both stability and growth opportunities.
Rental Properties: Purchasing residential or commercial properties in prime locations ensures steady rental income while the property appreciates over time.
REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts): REITs allow investors to gain exposure to real estate without directly owning property, offering high returns and liquidity.
Fractional Ownership: A modern approach, fractional ownership lets investors with limited funds participate in high-value real estate ventures.
3. Mutual Funds and Fixed-Income Investments
Mutual funds and fixed-income plans provide a balanced approach, making them suitable for both new and experienced investors seeking the best investment plans with high returns.
Equity Mutual Funds: Managed by professional fund managers, these funds focus on high-growth equities, ensuring long-term wealth creation.
Debt Mutual Funds: For those with a lower risk appetite, these funds invest in government securities and corporate bonds, offering moderate returns.
Fixed Deposits and Bonds: While offering lower returns than equities, these options are reliable and perfect for conservative investors.
4. Startups and Venture Capital: High Risk, High Reward
Investing in startups and venture capital funds can deliver exponential returns, making them ideal for those seeking the best investment plan with high returns.
Angel Investing: By backing startups with innovative ideas, investors can secure equity in businesses with massive growth potential.
Pre-IPO Investments: Participating in pre-IPO funding allows you to gain equity in companies before they go public, often resulting in high returns post-IPO.
Venture Capital Funds: These funds specialize in early-stage investments, pooling resources to invest in promising ventures.
5. Cryptocurrency: The Digital Frontier
Cryptocurrencies are redefining high-return investments, attracting risk-tolerant investors seeking substantial gains.
Bitcoin and Ethereum: These leading cryptocurrencies have proven to be lucrative for long-term holders.
Altcoins and DeFi Tokens: Emerging digital assets often offer exponential growth potential for speculative investors.
NFTs and Metaverse Projects: Non-fungible tokens and blockchain-based metaverse projects are gaining traction as modern investment avenues.
6. Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs): Elite Opportunities
Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs) are tailored for high-net-worth individuals aiming to diversify their portfolios.
Category-II AIFs: These funds focus on high-growth businesses and pre-IPO companies, making them one of the best investment plans with high returns for experienced investors.
Category-III AIFs: These funds employ advanced trading strategies, offering superior returns for those with a higher risk appetite.
Conclusion
The best investment plan with high returns depends on your financial goals, risk tolerance, and market knowledge. Whether you opt for equities, real estate, or cryptocurrencies, a diversified and informed approach is the key to success. Effective Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Fixed Deposits
Everyone has dreams and long-term goals. They could be owning a car, taking that dream vacation abroad, or securing our children’s future education. While a savings account might seem like a step toward achieving these goals, it may not be the most effective way to grow your savings. Looking for an alternative option? If so, then a fixed deposit is the right solution. Fixed deposits offer a safe and reliable way to earn higher returns on your savings. But how can you maximize those returns? Let’s explore strategies to help you get the most out of your fixed deposits!
Choose the Right Tenure
Selecting the appropriate tenure for your FD is important to achieving your financial goals. The interest rate on fixed deposits can vary significantly depending on the term. For example, in India, the difference in interest rates between a 1-year FD and a 3-year FD can be as much as 1.5%. Therefore, it is important to align the FD tenure with your financial objectives. If you plan to buy property or land within the next two years, opting for a 5-year term might not be the best choice. Choosing the right tenure ensures that your investments are both accessible and optimized for maximum growth.
Explore Fixed Deposit Laddering
Another effective strategy to enhance your returns is known as fixed deposit laddering. This involves splitting your investment into multiple FDs with varying maturities. By doing so, you can manage your financial needs more flexibly and achieve different goals without having to break your FDs prematurely. For instance, you could divide a lump sum into three portions. Each FD can be aligned with a specific financial goal. This staggered approach allows you to benefit from potentially higher interest rates on longer-term deposits.
Capitalize on Compounding Interest
You can also benefit from compounding interest. Compounding means that the interest you earn is added to your principal, and you then earn interest on this new, larger sum in the subsequent period. To maximize this benefit, consider reinvesting the interest earned along with any additional funds you may have. Over time, the power of compounding can lead to substantial growth in your investment. It provides a significant boost to your returns. The longer you keep your money invested, the more you can take advantage of this compounding effect.
Stay Updated
Interest rates are a key factor in determining the returns on your FD investments. Therefore, staying informed about market conditions and economic trends that could impact these rates is essential. By keeping an eye on interest rate fluctuations, you can time your FD investments to coincide with periods of favorable rates. Additionally, check transaction history, which allows you to track your investment performance and make more informed decisions.
Final Thoughts By applying these strategies, you can optimize your fixed deposit investments and secure the best possible returns. Always check the balance of fixed deposits and stay informed about interest rate trends and economic conditions. You also need to consider your financial goals, risk tolerance, and liquidity requirements before making any investment decisions.

Certificates of Deposit are fixed-term savings products with guaranteed returns. You can choose terms as short as three months, making them an excellent low-risk option for short-term goals.
3. Money Market Accounts
Money market accounts combine the benefits of savings and checking accounts. They offer competitive interest rates and easy access to funds while maintaining a low-risk profile.
Short-Term Stock Investments
4. Dividend Stocks
Dividend stocks can provide steady income and potential for capital growth. Focus on companies with strong financial performance and consistent dividend payments.
5. Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs)
ETFs are diversified investment options with low fees. Look for sector-specific or short-term bond ETFs for fast returns with manageable risk.
Alternative Short-Term Investment Options
6. Peer-to-Peer Lending
Peer-to-peer lending platforms allow you to lend money to individuals or small businesses. In return, you earn interest payments, often at higher rates than traditional savings.
7. Treasury Bills
Treasury bills are government-backed securities with short maturity periods. They are a secure investment with guaranteed returns, making them an excellent choice for conservative investors.
8. Real Estate Crowdfunding
Invest in real estate through crowdfunding platforms. These platforms pool funds from multiple investors to finance real estate projects, offering attractive short-term returns.
Maximizing Returns While Minimizing Risks
Short-term investments can yield impressive returns, but it's essential to balance risk and reward. Diversify your portfolio to protect against market fluctuations. Also, align your investment choices with your financial goals and risk tolerance.
Conclusion: Achieve Financial Growth Faster
Short-term investments offer a practical way to grow your wealth in months. By exploring various options like high-yield savings accounts, dividend stocks, and real estate crowdfunding, you can make your money work for you effectively. Tips on Buying your 1st Property
Tumblr media
Acquiring a property stands as one of the most significant financial decisions one can undertake in a lifetime. Equally, understanding the types of property investment involved is key to making the right choice. We comprehend the gravity of this step and strive to ensure a seamless and satisfying experience from start to finish. Here are some insightful guidelines to set you on the right path:
1.Understanding Your Purpose
It's essential to define the primary purpose of the property: whether it's for investment or personal use. In cases where your intention involves a mix of both, like residing in the property for a few years before renting it out, considering it as an investment for the long term is prudent. The reverse scenario holds true as well.
2.Financial Evaluation
Determining affordability, significantly influences the property's location and type based on your financial constraints, especially for property investment for beginners. Avail yourself of an affordable mortgage with a fixed interest rate ranging from 9% to 9.9% per annum, specifically tailored for first-time home buyers. The monthly repayments are structured to align closely with prevailing market rents.
3.Payment Options
Identify a payment plan that suits your circumstances. Typically, there are three payment plans available, subject to the developer's terms:
Installments during construction period: Involves a cash payment plan, requiring a minimum 20% deposit, with the remaining balance structured in installments throughout the construction period, averaging around 24 months.
Affordable mortgages: Offered by selected financiers at fixed interest rates ranging from 9% to 9.9% per annum, available to all first-time home buyers for up to 25 years. Civil servants may access employer-based financing at a significantly reduced interest rate of 3% per annum.
5-Year Payment Plan: Requires a minimum 10% deposit, with the balance payable in equal monthly installments during and after the construction period. As each phase of the development concludes, occupants move in and continue payments for the remainder of the term. This plan suits large-scale developments with phased construction (phase 1, 2 & 3) spread over a 5-year period.
Partnering with Rentscore ensures professional guidance to determine the most suitable option for your situation.
4. Strategic Planning
Practically initiating the process involves assessing your deposit amount. If it falls short, we recommend:
Initiating a targeted 12-month savings plan through a money market fund or a SACCO.
Exploring alternative income sources (side hustles).
Embracing frugality by prioritizing spending on essential aspects.
Ready to Proceed?
Congratulations on reaching this significant milestone! At this juncture, your purpose is defined, along with other specifics like the preferred number of bedrooms and location. How Can You Secure the Best FD Rates to Beat Inflation?
In order to fight inflation and obtain the best-fixed deposit (FD) rates, investors should first compare the rates that different banks and financial institutions are offering. Seek out unique programs or promotional offers that give greater rewards. Longer tenures may also be a preferable option than short-term deposits because they frequently offer higher rates. Keep an eye on interest rate and economic trends frequently to take advantage of advantageous fluctuations. The comparing process can be made simpler by using internet resources and platforms. Lastly, you may protect your assets from rising inflation and guarantee that your savings increase over time by locking in rates before projected rate drops.
Examining Potential Investments: A Complete Guide Different investment possibilities in the ever-changing financial landscape meet different risk profiles and financial objectives. To optimize profits, it's critical to investigate all options, from the best FD rates to high yield debt and high yield investments. This piece explores several investing options, such as invoice discounting and structured debt instruments, to assist investors in making wise choices.
Tumblr media
Recognizing Fixed Deposits and Their Significance The best FD rates are essential for anyone looking for a risk-free and secure way to invest. The guaranteed earnings on fixed deposits over a predetermined period of time make them a popular option for risk-averse people. Comparing offerings from various banks and financial organizations is crucial to locating the best rates on fixed-rate notes (FDs), as rates can fluctuate greatly. To optimize their profits, investors might also think about higher rates for longer tenures or promotional plans. When the market is erratic, fixed deposits offer a steady alternative that preserves capital and yields a consistent return.
High Yield Debt: A Dangerous Substitute High yield debt offers an appealing investment alternative for individuals seeking more returns. Since issuers of this kind of debt characteristically have worse credit ratings, higher interest rates are essential to offset the increased risk. In order to reduce possible dangers, investors who are interested in high yield debt must diversify their portfolios and do extensive research. It is crucial to be mindful of the option of defaults, which can result in capital loss, even though the returns can be important.
High-Yield Investments: Growth Views Compared to standard investments, high yield investments proposal higher returns on a variety of financial products. This group covers bonds, equities, and non-traditional assets containing peer-to-peer lending and real estate. Investors who are observing for high yield investments should assess their investment horizon and risk tolerance. Due diligence necessity be carried out to make sure that these investments offer the intended returns and are in line by overall financial goals.
Tumblr media
Risk and Return in Structured Debt Instruments
Another cutting-edge investment optimal that combines the stability of fixed income by the possibility of higher returns is structured debt instruments. These instruments may include features like capital protection or returns that are correlated with market indices, and they are designed to achieve particular financial objectives. The underlying mechanics and related hazards of structured debt instruments can vary greatly, thus investors interested in investing should be aware of these.
Discounting invoices: An Innovative Approach to Investing An additional option for investors observing for steady earnings is invoice discounting. Businesses can get instant cash flow through this practice, which includes buying outstanding bills at a discount. Upon payment, investors receive the entire invoice amount, which results in profitable returns. Invoice discounting is a beneficial complement to a diversified portfolio because it is a relatively low-risk investment.

Dealing with Low Water Pressure? Learn How a Plumber in Sutherland Shire Can Fix It

If you're experiencing this problem, it’s important to get it checked by a professional before it escalates. At AquaFirm Plumbing, our experienced plumbers in Sutherland Shire have the expertise to resolve water pressure issues swiftly and efficiently. Understanding the cause and implementing the right solution can not only improve your water pressure but also protect your plumbing system from further damage.
Common Causes of Low Water Pressure
Low water pressure can arise from various underlying issues, ranging from simple fixes to more complex plumbing problems. In many cases, a hidden leak in your plumbing system could be causing the drop in pressure. A leak not only reduces the water flow to your taps but also wastes significant amounts of water, leading to higher utility bills. Our plumbers in Sutherland Shire can perform a thorough inspection to detect leaks and fix them before they become a costly problem.
Another common cause is a clogged or corroded pipe. Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the pipes, restricting water flow. This is especially common in older homes with galvanized pipes, which tend to rust and accumulate debris. If this is the case, a professional plumber may recommend cleaning or replacing affected sections of the pipe to restore water pressure. AquaFirm Plumbing uses advanced tools to inspect and clean out pipes, ensuring a smooth water flow throughout your property.
