ok so update next day, since this is already a review i might as well go on
maybe they're not as bad? Like still 100% not worth the price, they should cost 50€ at most (though that's probably still too much tbf), but positives i have noticed by now is that they are very lightweight and pretty comfortable, but that is personal preference and depending on ear shape, so probably not that much of a plus.
They hold up great for me tho, don't fall out at all so das cool. And now that I've figuted out noise cancelling its... fine i guess? Definitely cant hear anyone talking while playing music. I can sometimes hear a quiet very high pitched whirring sound or a swooshing sound when there's no music playing but that might be because they're already used idfk
The transparency mode however sucks ass. Either its really loud white noise, or you cant hear anything on one earbud while the other one is in transparency mode and its just,, super uncomfortable. sometimes it works okay but most of the time it just hurts in your ears. also its way quicker to just take one headphone out than to activate that damn transparency mode
found airpods pro under the mattress of my bed in the hostel room we've been staying at for over a week and no one in my room nor anyone else has claimed them. Initially wanted to turn them in at the front desk but me teachers said i should just keep them so i guess they're mine now.
I do have insanely funny ideas what to name them now, either as device name or with a sticky note on the case and

how do u listen to music on your sony walkman? do you burn music from your laptop on it? download music from a website? or if it’s not music what do u listen to and how do you upload it?
hi, thank you for asking - my music ecosystem is very dear to me. here’s how it works!
i use two DAPs (digital audio players), a sony nw-a55 in the colorway “twilight red” and a 4th generation ipod classic. for headphones i love marshall, the ones i have are the marshall mid anc.
in the ipod I have mp3 files of music converted from youtube on my macbook, which you can simply drag and drop onto itunes while the ipod is connected to your laptop. no sd card needed. you can also get mp3s from software that “records” spotify music, or you can go old school and burn cds. reddit can be helpful to find those programs and some are free and some are not. the ipod is my walking audio library, a physical archive of my music taste. it does not have visuals or the best battery life, but i am still happy to have it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the sony I have flacs, very high resolution files of the music i love the most. i purchase the music in it from qobuz, which is a website that will send you the files by email. once i save them i simply connect the sony’s sd card to my laptop and drag and drop in it the music. then the sd card goes back into the sony. the sony has a responsive and vibrant touch screen and a truly amazing battery life. i use it with the wired extension that came with my marshall headphones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
music is beautiful and it brings me joy, so i don’t feel at ease getting it illegally. i want to support artists and appreciate music as an art, but that can be expensive. the way i compromise and sleep at night is that i dedicate the ipod to archiving with lower quality mp3s i get wherever, and the sony to curating a collection of hi res bought albums which i pick mindfully. hopefully one day when i can do so sustainably, i will fully switch to legal hi res music. for now, this will do.
i use my DAPs for music, and lately i tend to listen album by album and in their intended order rather than by artist or at random. i do want to try to use them for audiobooks of my favorite books or for ones in foreign languages. you can also transfer podcast episodes in them! the world of digital audio players is wide. you can enter it from many doors, you just have to choose the one fit for you.
that’s all! when i decided to use my phone as little as possible and i started to read and think about digital minimalism both as a philosophy and a practice, i realized that an audio player is a way for me to do what i love (listen to music) without the chance of getting distracted or tempted by other apps, messages and so on. they allow me to be fully present with music. digital minimalism is not about having less, because my bag is slightly heavier now and my pockets fuller when I leave the house with an audio player. digital minimalism is about being present and mindful, having less distractions on our minds and being more in touch with reality.
this was longer than i planned to, hopefully some of it was useful!

7 III 2023
it's the second week of the semester and I must say that it's easier than I predicted
statistical data analysis is boring but easy, algebra 2 is easy but probably interesting, so is differential geometry
algebraic topology was funny because ⅓ of the group completed the algebraic methods course, so at first we told the professor to skip half of the lecture (we all know the required part of category theory) and then with every new piece of information he would say "ok maybe this will be the first thing today that you don't know", to which we would reply "naaah we've seen this" lmao. but the course overall will be fun and maybe it's even better that the level of difficulty won't be as high as I though, that would leave more time for my other stuff
the tutorial part of number theory was scary, because the professor wanted us to work in pairs. my autistic ass hates working in groups and the noise in the room was unbearable (everyone was talking about the exercises we were given to solve), so I was on the verge of a meltdown after 30 minutes of this despite ANC headphones. next time I will work by myself from the start. maybe without the requirement of communication it won't be as bad. the course itself will be easy, when it comes to the material. I know nothing about number theory, so the novelty will make it more enjoyable. a few people said that they would prefer the tutorial in the standard form, maybe I won't have to worry about surviving it if there are enough people who want to change it
my birthday is tomorrow and as a gift my parents gave me enough money to buy an ipad, I was saving for it since november. for a few days now I've been testing different apps for note taking, pdf readers and other tools useful for studying. I must say, this is a game changer, I absolutely love it
taking notes itself is less comfortable than on an e-ink tablet, which gives very paperlike experience, but it's better than traditional ones. the upside is that I can use different colors and the whole process is less rigid than on an e-ink
Tumblr media
two apps that seem the best for now are MarginNote 3 and GoodNotes
the first one is good for studying something from multiple sources. the app allows to open many pdfs, take pieces from them and then arrange them in a mindmap. it's possible to add handwritten notes, typed notes, photos and probably more that I don't know yet. all of this seems to be particularly useful when studying for exams or in other situations when it's necessary to review a huge chunk of material
Tumblr media
the second app is for regular handwritten notes. it doesn't have any special advantages other than I just like the interface lol what I like about taking notes on ipad is that I can take photos and insert them directly into the notebook, which I can't do on the e-ink. it's great for lectures and classes because I don't usually write everything down (otherwise I can't listen, too busy with writing) and even if I do, I don't trust myself with it so I take photos anyway. being able to merge the photos with notes reduces chaos
Tumblr media
oh god this is going to be a long post! other news from life is that yesterday I had a meeting with my thesis advisor and we finally picked a topic. some time ago he sent me a paper to try and said, very mysteriously, to let him know if it's not too hard before he reveals more details about his idea. the paper is about symmetric bilinear forms on finite abelian groups, pure algebra, and I was supposed to write about algebraic topology, so I tried to search where this topics comes up, but didn't find anything. it turns out that it's used to define some knot invariant, which I would use to write about the classification of singularities of algebraic curves. in the meantime my advisor had another idea, which is an open problem in knot theory. we decided to try the second one, because there is less theory to learn before I could start writing the paper
to summarize what I'm about to do: there is a knot invariant called Jones polynomial, which then inspires a construction of a certain R-module on tangles and the question asks whether that module is free, if so, what is its rank. now I'm reading the book he gave me to learn the basics and I can't wait till I start working on the problem

Tomorrow I'll wear my headphones during school's breaks. Of course it's going to be a bit uncomfortable, because they have a wire that isn't detachable and they don't even have ANC, because they're OLD, but they're over-ear headphones, so they're able to make the sounds just a little more quieter (and I'm always overstimulated and stressed inside school, so...).
I still need to buy good over-ear wireless headphones with ANC which will not be so expensive, but I'll need to do a little research to buy the best ones for me first and until I buy them, I can (and should) use some kind of replacement.

Which Headphone Has the Highest Noise Cancellation?
Noise-canceling headphones have become a necessity in today’s fast-paced, noisy world. Whether you're working in a busy office, commuting on a train, or simply looking to block out distractions at home, finding the right headphones with superior noise-cancellation technology can make all the difference. In this article, we’ll explore some of the best noise-canceling headphones available on the market, discuss their key features, and identify which models stand out for offering the highest noise cancellation.
Understanding Noise Cancellation Technology
Before diving into specific models, it’s essential to understand how noise cancellation works. There are two types of noise cancellation:
Passive Noise Cancellation This involves physical barriers, such as padded ear cups, that block external sound. While effective, it doesn't actively counter external noise.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) ANC uses microphones to pick up ambient noise and then creates sound waves that cancel out these external noises. This advanced technology is ideal for canceling low-frequency sounds, such as engine noise, air conditioning hum, or city traffic.
Modern headphones often combine both passive and active noise cancellation for maximum effect.
Top Headphones with Exceptional Noise Cancellation
Let’s look at some of the leading headphones renowned for their noise-canceling capabilities:
1. Sony WH-1000XM5
Sony has consistently been a leader in the noise-canceling headphone space, and the WH-1000XM5 is no exception.
Features:
Industry-leading ANC powered by dual noise sensor technology.
Adaptive Sound Control adjusts ANC based on your environment.
30-hour battery life with quick charging.
Crystal-clear audio quality with powerful bass and detailed highs.
Noise Cancellation Performance: The WH-1000XM5 excels in handling low-frequency sounds like airplane engines and consistent background noise, making it a top choice for travelers and commuters.
2. Bose QuietComfort 45 (QC45)
Bose has long been synonymous with noise-canceling technology, and the QC45 upholds this legacy.
Features:
Advanced noise-canceling technology with Quiet and Aware modes.
Lightweight design for extended comfort.
24-hour battery life with USB-C fast charging.
Clear, natural sound profile optimized for various music genres.
Noise Cancellation Performance: The QC45 is particularly effective in quieting mid-range and high-frequency noises, such as voices or office chatter, making it perfect for professional settings.
3. Apple AirPods Max
Apple’s entry into the over-ear headphone market has been impressive with the AirPods Max.
Features:
Computational audio powered by Apple’s H1 chip in each ear cup.
Transparency mode for blending ambient sounds when needed.
Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking for an immersive experience.
Premium build quality with memory foam ear cushions.
Noise Cancellation Performance: The AirPods Max offers seamless noise cancellation, particularly in combination with other Apple devices. While it may not suppress noise as aggressively as Sony or Bose, it excels in creating a balanced listening environment.
4. Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless
Sennheiser is known for its audiophile-grade sound quality, and the Momentum 4 Wireless pairs this with strong noise cancellation.
Features:
Adaptive Noise Cancellation for optimized performance in varying environments.
Exceptional 60-hour battery life, one of the best in its class.
Clear and detailed sound with customizable EQ settings.
Lightweight design with a comfortable fit.
Noise Cancellation Performance: While not as aggressive as Sony or Bose, the Momentum 4 Wireless effectively handles a range of frequencies, providing a balanced and comfortable experience.
5. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2
Bowers & Wilkins combines luxury design with advanced sound technology in the PX7 S2.
Features:
High-quality sound with a focus on rich bass and crisp highs.
Adaptive ANC that adjusts to your surroundings.
Sleek design with premium materials like carbon fiber.
30-hour battery life.
Noise Cancellation Performance: The PX7 S2 provides solid ANC that effectively reduces background noise, although it may not outperform industry leaders like Sony or Bose.
Which Headphone Offers the Best Noise Cancellation?
While all the models mentioned above deliver exceptional noise-canceling performance, the Sony WH-1000XM5 consistently stands out for its industry-leading ANC capabilities. Its ability to adapt to different environments and effectively cancel a wide range of noise frequencies makes it the go-to choice for most users.
However, if comfort, design, or integration with specific devices (like Apple) are higher priorities, the Bose QC45 or AirPods Max may be better suited to your needs.
Conclusion
Choosing the right noise-canceling headphone depends on your specific requirements, such as sound quality, comfort, and compatibility with other devices. The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the current leader in noise cancellation, but Bose, Apple, and other brands also offer compelling alternatives. Whichever model you choose, investing in high-quality noise-canceling headphones can significantly enhance your listening experience and help you focus in noisy environments.
So, assess your needs, compare features, and find the perfect pair to enjoy peace and immersive sound anywhere you go.

What Are the Best In-Ear Headphones for Workout Enthusiasts?
About
In-ear headphones, also known as earbuds or in-ear monitors (IEMs), have become one of the most popular choices for music lovers, athletes, and professionals alike. Compact, portable, and able to deliver high-quality sound, in-ear headphones offer convenience without compromising audio performance. With so many options on the market, it can be challenging to determine which type best fits your needs. Here’s everything you need to know about choosing the perfect pair of in-ear headphones.
Tumblr media
Why Choose In-Ear Headphones?
In ear headphones offer unique advantages compared to their over-ear or on-ear counterparts. First, their compact size makes them incredibly convenient for travel, workouts, or commutes, allowing you to enjoy your favorite tunes or take calls anywhere. They’re also lightweight, fitting snugly within the ear, which provides natural noise isolation. This design not only blocks out external sounds but also prevents sound leakage, allowing for a more immersive audio experience.
Key Features to Look for in In-Ear Headphones
Sound Quality: Sound quality is one of the most critical factors when choosing in-ear headphones. Look for models with a well-balanced frequency range—good bass for depth, crisp mids for clarity, and clear highs for detailed sound. High-quality drivers, such as balanced armature or hybrid drivers, can enhance sound performance and give a more accurate listening experience.
Comfort and Fit: Finding a comfortable fit is crucial for prolonged use, especially for workouts or travel. Many in-ear headphones come with interchangeable ear tips in various sizes to help you find the best fit for your ears. Silicone and memory foam ear tips are popular options that provide both comfort and noise isolation, helping to secure the earbuds in place.
Noise Isolation and Cancellation: Noise isolation is a passive feature based on how well the earbuds fit in your ear, while active noise cancellation (ANC) uses technology to counteract external sounds. If you’re in a noisy environment, like on a plane or in a busy city, ANC can be incredibly effective in providing a peaceful listening experience.
Wired vs. Wireless: In-ear headphones come in both wired and wireless models. Wired options typically deliver more consistent audio quality without the need for charging. Wireless or Bluetooth models, on the other hand, provide more freedom of movement and have become increasingly popular for their convenience, especially in sports models. Look for Bluetooth headphones with long battery life and fast charging if you’re frequently on the go.
Durability and Water Resistance: If you plan to use in-ear headphones during workouts or outdoors, look for models with water or sweat resistance. Many brands now offer waterproof or sweat-resistant earbuds rated by IPX standards, ensuring they can withstand moisture and last longer under active use.
Additional Features: Advanced features like touch controls, voice assistance, and customizable EQ settings can enhance your listening experience. Some models offer app support, allowing you to adjust sound profiles to suit your personal preferences.
Top Uses for In-Ear Headphones
In-ear headphones are versatile and cater to various lifestyles. Whether you’re a commuter who values portability, a fitness enthusiast looking for sweat-resistant options, or an audiophile wanting detailed sound, there’s an in-ear headphone to meet your needs. Some models are even tailored for professional musicians, delivering precise sound monitoring and isolation on stage.
Conclusion
Choosing the best in-ear headphones depends on your priorities—whether it's sound quality, comfort, or durability. With advancements in technology, in-ear headphones have transformed into versatile audio devices that cater to nearly every need. Take your time comparing options, and soon, you’ll find the perfect pair of in-ear headphones to elevate your listening experience.
