Happy to see you continuning this series ^^ and also for giving Martian Manhunter some love (though I wonder where Flash is)
also what would the modern versions of them look like?
also nice connection to Aladdin there, having the Ring and Lantern be the Ring and Lamp from the story (did 1001 Emerald Knights do that?)
Alternate History Character Design Thought Experiment- not necessarily what I think these characters SHOULD be, but what I imagine they easily could have been.
(A reminder: I’m currently accepting commissions! Message me for more info)

Announcing Tales of Lost Ages!
An anthology of Diorama Dungeoncrawl Adventures! Explore mysterious dungeons, battle fantastical monsters and avoid devious traps in these Low-Poly 3D Action-Adventure games!
Wishlist on Steam
Featuring:
Tomb of the Devourer:
The Treasure Hunter had traveled a long way. In the Valley of Kings, the tombs lay defiled, despoiled of all treasure. All but one. One tomb had remained impervious to looting. A tomb of a nameless king of an age lost to history. Not one would-be thief who had ever challenged its depths had returned. Tannic was determined to be the first. When he stood before the entrance to the tomb, half buried in sand, he had expected difficulty getting inside. To his surprise, the ancient stone gate rose open under its own power like a gaping maw. An open invitation. Perhaps this would be easier than he thought...
Ruby in the Mire:
Ruby is an adventurer-for-hire who does the dirty jobs no one else will take! A malignant force has corrupted the ruins of an ancient temple, half-sunken under a muddy swamp. The corruption has spread to a nearby town and poisoned their water supply. The town has pooled their money together to hire someone to venture into the temple's depths and battle the demon which has taken root there. Ruby is the one woman for the job!
The Waystone's Toll:
The Mercenary had hoped to find rest in the town of Knights Passing. However, when he arrived, he felt the telltale tension in the air that told him all was not well in this small town. A week prior, the town's relic known as the Waystone had been stolen, and some of the townsfolk went missing. Each night since, demons have emerged from the manor of Erstel Krestalor, a wealthy merchant who was among the missing villagers. The guards have barely managed to fight off the nightly onslaught. It looks like The Mercenary will have to earn his rest!
And more!

@benkevans Indeed.
But! The size of Ben's dumptruck ass depends on the artist. For example, these are from Tom DeFalco's Fantastic Four run

I love The Defenders' utter commitment to "no, NO. We are NOT a team. We are NOT FRIENDS. We will join forces when we Need to, and not for one second longer will I tolerate any of you in my inner sanctum." @benkevans
It's so FUNNY. Other teams try to make the claim they are "forced to work together but by the end they all get along but they wouldn't do it again" but The Defenders commits, the Defenders are the authentic "I am clocking out at 5 and good luck to the rest of you, don't call me, don't text me, don't send a magical summons, I am off work and you are all dead to me until we have to save the world/universe/reality again. I swear to god I will not show up next time and you will have to drag me back on this team kicking and screaming"
Could you please tell me your favourite Namor character team up comics or team book comics? Hope this makes you feel better. Sending my best wishes.
Thank you ❤️
First is Doctor Doom, literally any Doctor Doom and Namor comic, as soon as those two are on page together I'm happy. There's a rec list here.
Invaders: any and all the Invaders but especially the core group of Jim, Bucky, Toro, and Steve. Favorites: Captain America & Namor (2012) #635.1, Captain America & Bucky (2011) #622, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty (1998) #2-4, Marvel Team Up (1997) #9, Winter Soldier: Winter Kills (2007), Captain America (2005) #46-48
Defenders: This team is so special to me, the core founding team of Namor, Silver Surfer, Valkyrie, Doctor Strange, and Hulk/Bruce Banner. This team is the definition of dysfunctional team that held together with duct tape and a lot of wine that Stephen can drown himself in every time they in fight, lol. I really love their dynamic and as for comics, I think its hard to pick out bc I like them as a whole, like Fear Itself: The Deep holds a special place in my heart but I really enjoy the whole team and when new people come and go its good.
The Cabal is so fun, the original Cabal, with Namor, Doom, Emma, and Loki on the team, I really think they had a lot of potential and wish Marvel could have done more with them. There isn't really many comics with them, but their scenes were fun. I listed all the comics where you can see these recs and look up team comics in my old reading list.

Hey, I'm the guy submitted this. After doing some digging after initially discovering it, I found that it is indeed a bootleg of "Maskatron" from the bionic man line. http://i73.servimg.com/u/f73/15/47/81/37/hommer10.jpg
I kinda really want one, it’s so neat.

I’m still shocked that more indie filmmakers don’t try to adapt the many; many superheroes that fell into the public domain (Due to improper copyright registration/re-registration), because of how many of them are fucking bonkers; especially the Golden Age ones.
Cause, like... Dynamite Thor; as excellently showcased here; was a goddamn maniac who’s gimmick was solving his problems with lit dynamite, with his powers being explosion immunity and who basically got around by TF2-style rocket jumping.
Tell me you wouldn’t want to see a movie about this fucker? Honestly, I could see @benkevans doing a rad redesign of them for such a thing, they’re good with Golden Age PD hero redesigns...

benkevans said: I think the characters have undergone a weird level of simplification over the years. At some point Knuckles became "the tough one" and Tails became "the smart one." Not that they were super complex to begin with, but there was more to them than that initially.
The writers Sonic Team’s had since Colors are just really, really bad, and it feels like they just want to force the characters into simple stereotypical roles that are easier for them to understand
Tails is the perfect example. He’s always been smart according to Sega, but that wasn’t his ENTIRE personality. It was pretty understated. He was a brilliant engineer, but he was also an insecure kid who wanted to be just like Sonic. He actually acted like a kid! Now he’s just Professor Frink. He’s the character who says big brain stuff about science and then the other characters go “In English, please!” (And also I guess he got really depressed when Sonic was captured in Forces)
And Amy... oh, poor Amy... it’s like they wanted to downplay her crush on Sonic after years of that being her defining personality trait, which is good, but they forgot to emphasize something else to make up for it. So now she’s just the girlfriend in every gamer webcomic. She takes things more seriously than the boys and chides them for being irresponsible and tells them what to do and basically acts like their mom. I hate it so much

The three main sides of Superman, Kal El, Superman and Clark Kent
three sides that for some reason people feel should be separate, and that any attempt at making all of them important is you being like Snyder or something (I've interacted with the Superman fanbase on Reddit, I hate it) even though this balance is what makes him interesting in the first place
#dc comics#dc universe#dc#artists on tumblr#illustration#Benkevans#three sides#same...#coin?#IDFK#character design#superhero#superheroes#kal el#superman#clark kent#redesign#comic books#seriously though the Superman Subreddit are basically to Superman#What “Animation is Cinema” Twitter is to animation#like they claim to love Superman and say he's not boring (which I agree with)#but instead of emphasizing the things that make him interesting#they just double down on the things people complain about him and try to say those things are “good actually!”#like trying to erase any form of alienation or personal struggle with his powers#sorry for the rant#spaceman#strongman#farmboy#nerd#dork

Are future issues of Jill Trent going to be open to submissions like the first was? Or is it going to be just the same artists?
We’re currently accepting submissions on a rolling basis (click here), which means writers can submit story pitches and artists can submit portfolios for review at any time, and we’ll review the submissions as they come in. First-come, first-served.
JILL TRENT, SCIENCE SLEUTH #2 will launch soon on Kickstarter and features new artist Roxanne Bee along with returning artists Ryan Incandenza (with new colorist Liezl Buenaventura) and Michael R. Hall (with returning colorist Frank Barbara).
We’re already in talks with some VERY exciting new artists for JILL TRENT #3 but nothing we can announce yet. :-)
If you want to make comics with us, click here to submit your story pitch or your portfolio for review!

For 35 years, Garfield phone cases have been washing up on Brittany beaches in France and no one knew why lmao turns out there was a container hidden in a cave releasing the cases in the ocean, but then again, no one knows where it comes from
