Discover the Best Times to Enjoy A Cup of Green Tea or Herbal tea for the most health Benefits
Tumblr media
In a world that's constantly on the move, finding moments of tranquility and self-care is essential for maintaining overall well-being. One such practice that not only offers a comforting respite but also brings a myriad of health benefits is enjoying a cup of tea. Green tea and herbal tea, in particular, have gained popularity for their remarkable health-promoting properties. In this blog, we'll delve into the science behind green tea benefits and herbal tea benefits and explore the best times to indulge in these soothing brews for maximum impact.
Green Tea Benefits: Nature's Elixir for Wellness
Green tea, derived from Camellia sinensis leaves, is renowned for its rich antioxidant content, primarily catechins. These compounds, notably epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), have been linked to a plethora of health benefits, ranging from boosting metabolism to reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
Morning Boost: Start your day on a healthy note by sipping on a cup of green tea in the morning. The moderate caffeine content provides a gentle energy kick, aiding in alertness without the jittery side effects associated with other caffeinated beverages.
Pre-Exercise Ritual: Consuming green tea about 30 minutes before a workout can enhance fat-burning during exercise, making it an excellent companion for those aiming to shed a few pounds.
Afternoon Pick-Me-Up: Combat the post-lunch slump with a cup of green tea. Its combination of caffeine and L-theanine promotes a calm focus, helping you sail through the rest of the day with heightened concentration.
Evening Elixir: Enjoying a cup in the early evening provides a soothing prelude to winding down. The lower caffeine content compared to morning consumption ensures a peaceful transition into the night.

Herbal teas, crafted from an assortment of dried flowers, fruits, herbs, and spices, offer a caffeine-free alternative with unique health benefits.
Rise and Shine with Peppermint: Kickstart your day with a refreshing peppermint tea. Known for its ability to alleviate digestive issues and enhance mental alertness, peppermint tea is an invigorating choice for the morning.
Midday Calm with Chamomile: Combat stress and anxiety by sipping on chamomile tea during the midday hustle. Its calming properties can promote relaxation and even aid in a more restful sleep when consumed regularly.
Digestive Delight after Meals: Opt for herbal teas like ginger or fennel post meals to aid digestion. These teas can help alleviate bloating and indigestion, making them a wise choice for those with sensitive stomachs.
Nighttime Serenity with Lavender or Valerian Root: Unwind before bedtime with a cup of lavender or valerian root tea. These herbal infusions have mild sedative effects, promoting a restful night's sleep.
Conclusion: Embrace the Therapeutic Art of Tea Enjoyment
Whether you prefer the briskness of green tea or the herbal symphony of herbal infusions, incorporating these beverages into your daily routine can significantly contribute to your overall well-being. The key lies not only in the selection of teas but also in timing – allowing each cup to cater to your body's needs throughout the day. So, seize the opportunity to turn these moments of tea enjoyment into a daily ritual, unlocking the full spectrum of health benefits that these natural elixirs have to offer

★ Chapter Four: The Kim Family Chaos
If there was one thing you could count on in the Kim household, it was that no day ever went according to plan. After the whirlwind of Valentine’s Day drama, I was ready to come home, crash in my room, and maybe indulge in my usual habit of mindlessly scrolling through my phone. But, of course, that was never going to happen. Not when you lived with Mr. and Mrs. Kim.
As soon as I stepped through the door, the unmistakable scent of burning food hit my nose. I froze in the entryway, blinking as smoke began to waft through the house.
"Minji!" I shouted, kicking off my shoes and racing towards the kitchen. "Are you trying to burn the house down?!"
Minji wasn’t the only one responsible for the chaos in our kitchen, but today, I had a hunch it was her. Sure enough, I rounded the corner and found my sister standing at the stove, frantically fanning smoke away from a frying pan with a dish towel.
"Relax, I’ve got this under control," Minji said, her voice tense but trying to sound confident. She was poking something blackened and unidentifiable in the pan, clearly regretting whatever culinary experiment she had attempted.
"Clearly," I deadpanned, waving the smoke away from my face. "What are you even trying to make?"
"Something healthy," Minji muttered, turning off the stove. "I saw this recipe online—"
"Oh no," I interrupted, already knowing where this was going. "Not one of Mom’s ‘wellness’ websites again."
"It’s supposed to be good for your skin!" Minji shot back defensively, scooping whatever disaster she’d created into a bowl. "Something about antioxidants and… I don’t know, stuff."
I peered into the bowl, my face twisting in disgust. "Yeah, well, whatever that is, it looks like charcoal."
Minji rolled her eyes, leaning against the counter. "You don’t get it, Y/N. You wouldn’t understand the importance of a balanced diet."
"Oh, trust me, I understand," I said, picking up one of the blackened blobs with a fork. "I just don’t think this counts as food."
Before Minji could launch into another lecture about the benefits of green tea or kale or whatever ingredient she was experimenting with this time, we were interrupted by our dad’s booming voice from the living room.
"Girls! Dinner is almost ready!"
Minji and I exchanged glances.
"Please tell me Dad isn’t cooking tonight," I whispered.
"He is," Minji said, grimacing. "He’s making his famous ‘stir-fry surprise.’"
I groaned. "Not the surprise part again."
Our dad had this strange idea that adding random ingredients to stir-fry made it more exciting. To him, every meal was an adventure. To us, it was a gamble between something edible and something that should’ve been left in the fridge to die.
Before we could escape to our rooms, Dad appeared in the kitchen doorway, grinning from ear to ear. He was wearing his usual ‘Kiss the Cook’ apron, which was always slightly askew, and holding a spatula like it was a prized sword.
"Ah, there you are! Just in time for my latest masterpiece," he announced, gesturing dramatically toward the table where plates of his infamous stir-fry waited for us.
Minji and I exchanged another look—this one filled with silent resignation. There was no getting out of this. We had to face whatever "surprise" was waiting in that stir-fry.
We sat down, eyeing the plates cautiously. Tonight’s creation looked relatively normal—at first glance, anyway. But we knew better than to trust appearances.
"So, what’s the surprise this time, Dad?" Minji asked, trying to sound optimistic as she poked at the stir-fry with her chopsticks.
Dad grinned, clearly proud of himself. "I added a secret ingredient. Something bold and unexpected."
My stomach flipped with nervous anticipation. "Bold and unexpected" was never good.
"I’ll give you a hint," Dad continued, clearly relishing the suspense. "It’s something you wouldn’t usually find in stir-fry."
Minji and I stared at him, waiting.
"Blueberries!" he declared triumphantly.
I nearly choked. "Blueberries?!"
Minji blinked, trying to process this new information. "In stir-fry?"
Dad nodded enthusiastically, as if this was a stroke of culinary genius. "Yep! I figured, why not mix things up? Sweet and savory go great together!"
I glanced at Minji, whose face was frozen in polite horror. "Uh, sure, Dad," she said carefully. "That’s… really creative."
"Right," I muttered, picking up my chopsticks and tentatively taking a bite. The blueberries were warm, squishy, and definitely didn’t belong in stir-fry. But to Dad’s credit, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. It was just… weird.
Mom appeared in the doorway then, wiping her hands on a towel. She was more sensible when it came to cooking, but she loved to indulge Dad’s eccentricities, so she gave us her usual supportive smile.
"How’s dinner, girls?" she asked.
"Delicious," Minji lied, flashing a thumbs up.
"Unique," I added, deciding not to be a total killjoy. "Definitely bold."
Dad beamed. "See? I knew you’d appreciate it! It’s all about pushing boundaries."
Minji snuck a piece of broccoli onto my plate when no one was looking, and I shot her a glare. The broccoli was the least of my worries with the blueberries rolling around like loose marbles on the plate.
After dinner, Minji and I retreated to the safety of our shared bedroom, grateful to have survived another one of Dad’s kitchen experiments. She collapsed onto her bed, dramatically groaning as if the day had been a marathon.
"You know," I said, sitting at my desk, "for someone who claims to care about health, you sure downed those blueberries pretty quickly."
Minji threw a pillow at me. "I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, okay? Besides, it wasn’t that bad."
"You’re such a liar," I laughed, dodging the pillow. "It was terrible."
"Okay, fine, it was terrible," Minji admitted, burying her face in another pillow. "But at least he tries."
We both burst into laughter, the kind of uncontrollable giggling that only happens when you’ve been holding in too much weirdness for too long. In the Kim family, weirdness was a given, and somehow, that was what made it fun.
As the laughter faded and we both settled into the comfortable silence of our room, I realized that despite the chaos and the questionable dinners, I wouldn’t trade our family for anything. We might be a little strange, but we made it work. Even if that meant putting up with blueberry stir-fry and Minji’s charred health experiments.
"You know," Minji said quietly from her bed, "Dad’s stir-fry might’ve been weird, but at least it didn’t burn like my cookies."
I grinned, leaning back in my chair. "True. You can’t cook to save your life."
Minji tossed another pillow at me, but this time I caught it, still laughing as the warmth of the evening settled around us.

What is your normal grocery list? I’m about to be living at a dorm and I am looking for stuff to stock up on, I can’t really keep frozen foods though
i actually dont even cook all that much so i dont keep a lot of frozen foods either. this is my regular list when i go, usually weekly.
FASTING FOODS
okay so youre probably like. raine you arent supposed to eat anything when you fast. hear me out bc this is how i consistently fast a 20-4 schedule everyday, with a lot less binges than before, AND getting all of the benefits of fasting. and yeah, i still binge from time to time, but my binges are far less because my stomach actually cannot handle being fed over 1000 calories anymore, especially not all at once.
these are my ESSENTIALS so theyre pretty much the only things i consistently buy weekly.
cucumbers
chicken broth (0cal kind)
seaweed snacks
pickled ginger
tea (any, but i like trying new flavors ! my favorite is lemon ginger because it helps digestion, and green tea because it speeds up your metabolism. also a lot healthier than diet coke with the same amount of caffeine, also less likely to spike your blood sugar and kick you out of ketosis- which will make your cravings for food much worse)
...dont get me wrong i couldnt live without diet coke. but sometimes ill go for the healthier option.
why i eat these foods while i fast
these are foods that have extremely low cals and carbs (like less than 2 grams per/serving) so they wont kick you out of ketosis (which is the major benefit to fasting, where your body burns fat at a higher rate). when youre in ketosis, your body stops sending you as many cravings, which is why sometimes it feels easier to fast 24 hours after you last ate as opposed to 3 hours.
because i spend the majority of my time fasting, (and i would never be able to do that without these foods) i go through these items pretty quick.
but otherwise i only have to buy other healthy foods on a biweekly or even monthly basis, because i wont eat them as fast ! heres some things i rotate through depending on how sick of them i am lol.
regular food
built bars - essential for me. tons of protein, less sugar than other bars, and relatively low cal.
somebody on here introduced me to these and im soo glad they did. i dont remember who but if youre seeing this ilysm.
tuna creations packets - rly good for on the go, tons of flavors, lots of protein so they're really filling for only being 70-90cals depending on the flavor
blueberries + apples - so hard to over eat these two items, plus fiber
rice cakes - self explanatory
pistachios or sunflower seeds - great for curbing hunger, but im a little sick of them rn
a low cal air popped popcorn - i forget which brand i have rn, but its pretty good and has a lot of fiber.
chobani yogurt + yogurt protein drinks (50cal) - the fact that these r 50cals amaze me for how good they taste. the yogurt drinks are my favorite bc theres actually a shit ton of protein and taste pretty good without actually having to make myself a protein shake. the cookies and cream and peaches and cream are my favorites ive tried. good for breaking a fast with.
thats all i can think of atm ! sry for the fucking essay i hope this was a little helpful at least.
typing this out manically made me realize im a little crazy. i cant say with my whole chest that you should listen to me and my d1sordered thoughts, but i think everyone on here knows that already so... uh
please be kind to yourselves. take ur vitamins (even while fasting) i genuinely love you all every one of you fucked up bitches like me.
goodnight <3

saw you talking about tea the other day and now i'm intrigued 👀 any flavors you're particularly fond of? asking for a friend also. please do ramble about it bc it's delightful :D
Jay! Hi! Fellow tea lover?
Hm… I love lots of teas, but really I prefer simple teas to anything super decadent or elaborate. I don’t ever add anything to my teas unless I’m sick (then I’ll add a bit of honey).
My go-to is just a simple green or peppermint tea, though I’m also a huge fan of spiced chai and earl grey. I adore jasmine tea - jasmine is probably my favourite, but it has to be a good jasmine, so I don’t have it all the time (again, it gets expensive). I always have some green or peppermint tea on hand though - a quality cup is always nice but I don’t as much mind if these are the cheaper kind.
I’m not a huge fruit tea person, though I did have a peach white tea once - that one was lovely cold - and of course a good lemon ginger is always nice. If I’m having bubble tea though, I always go for a mango or lychee green tea if they have it!
I have to say that I can’t remember what pu’erh tea was like - I know it was interesting and I liked it, but I’d need to try it again I think to recall it properly. I haven’t found a rooibos tea I’ve been particularly crazy about, but it’s nice too, just not what I’d gravitate towards.
If you want a sweet or dessert type tea, then any oolong is great, but I think I’m spoiled for that wuyi oolong now hahaha. I’ve had a vanilla black tea - it’s really good. I’d highly recommend that one. I also have this sweet apple-cinnamon tea with nuts. I don’t have it super often, as I’m not a fan of sugary teas but this one is a nice dessert on its own. It’s very nutty which makes it pretty unique.
When I’m sick, I’ve had a couple good teas. One I have for colds is a eucalyptus-mint. I recommend having this one only when you are very congested because boy is it strong. Tastes amazing though. Also my mom had several Korean friends when I was little, so I have fond memories of her making yujacha at their urging when I wasn’t feeling well as a young kid, and boricha for us to put in the fridge and drink cold. I love both.
I don’t usually have chamomile at home, but this is largely because on days when I’m really incredibly stressed (like, shaking with anxiety, actively spiralling, kind of stressed), I like to go for a walk in the evening and pick up a chamomile from a nearby café to take back with me. It’s an indulgence that way.
Other cool teas I have tried:
Butterfly pea flower tea: More of a novelty than anything but this tea is bright blue and changes to red when you add citric acid. It’s a natural pH indicator!
Lavender black tea: Incredibly good. This was another gift from my mom a few years back. Very nice in the evening.
Mushroom tea: These tend to be incredibly overpriced due to purported health benefits so I’ve only ever had samples but honestly? The ones I’ve had are very nice, a smooth, rich flavour. Not convinced they’re worth that price though.
Dandelion tea: People say this can be used as a coffee substitute. I’m not entirely sure I agree with that but it does have a dark roasted flavour that is similar to black coffee. It’s a little sweet though. I like this one a lot, but I only have this with food because if I don’t have anything in my stomach it makes me cramp a bit (as I found out the hard way) :/
Matcha green tea with roasted rice: Okay a friend of mine got me some of this as a gift when she went back to visit family for a bit and. Um. This tea is so incredibly good. We had some together and it was fantastic. I’ve been saving it and only having it at times I know I can really savour it because I want it to last. If you can find some good quality stuff I highly recommend it.
Aaaand sometimes, admittedly, I will enjoy an orange pekoe. It’s nice on occasion. I make it pretty strong hehe
I hope this was fun for you your friend! 😆
What are your favourite teas, Jay?

Chapter Twenty-Eight
Maera reluctantly broke her fast with her father, her head throbbing from the remnants of the previous night's wine. Fortunately, Queen Helaena had shown grace by granting her the day to recuperate. And there was no way Maera would be sparring with Aemond today. As far as she was concerned, the further away from him she was the better. This suitor debacle was complicated enough without the one-eyed Prince toying with her emotions.
Thena dressed her that morning in a simple wrap gown, less dramatic than the dress she had worn the previous night. The gown's rich fabric draped gracefully over her form, the turquoise hue reminiscent of the sea on a tranquil morning, and the gold accents catching the soft morning light in a subtle shimmer. To not worsen Maera’s delicate headache, the maid also styled Maera’s hair into a simple half-up half-down hair do, the top half being braided and the bottom half allowed to flow graciously down her back.
Across the table, Lord Jasper, seemingly unfazed by the previous night's festivities, began, "Maera, you received much interest from many different suitors last night." His tone was a mixture of pride and expectation, and he continued, "I'm proud to see you're taking your responsibilities seriously."
Maera's green eyes, adorned with a faint weariness, revealed the lingering effects of the previous night's festivities to her father. The breakfast table before her boasted an assortment of remedies, from hearty meats and cheeses to fresh fruits and pastries, their fragrances wafting through the air. But all Maera could manage to do was to put her head in her hands, partly due to her hangover-induced dizziness and partly from the anxiety that loomed over her regarding an impending marriage match.
Lord Jasper continued talking, sorting through his stack of letters. He casually mentioned Houses like "Thorne, Swyift, Peake," and numerous others, but Maera's focus remained on a small piece of bread and the comforting ginger tea she hoped would soothe her queasy stomach.
“Maera," Lord Jasper called out gently, capturing his daughter's attention. His steely eyes held both purpose and a touch of sympathy as he continued, "I understand this is a difficult decision, and I want you to feel that you have some choice in the matter."
Maera couldn't hide her surprise at her father's willingness to consider her preferences. She cocked her head, awaiting his next words.
With a solemn nod, Lord Jasper handed three sealed letters to Maera. He explained, "I've carefully considered which alliances would benefit House Wylde the most, and I believe these three Lords are the best choices." As Maera examined the parchments, she paid special attention to the wax seals, mentally matching them to noble houses—House Lannister, House Lefford, and, to her delight, House Tully.
Maera's eyes lit up when she saw the familiar fish on the letter from Lord Warren, and she couldn't help but smile. Grateful, she looked up at her father and said, "Thank you, Father, for allowing me to have some choice in this."
Lord Jasper continued, "All of these Lords will be staying in King's Landing for another week. I suggest you engage in a short courtship with each of them, get to know them better before making a decision."
Maera giggled at the thought, her humor returning. "I can hardly court an infant in its mother's womb," she quipped, referring to House Lannister's offer. Her jest earned a chuckle from her father.
In the comfortable silence that enveloped them, the clinking of cutlery and sips of tea filled the air as father and daughter enjoyed their morning meal together. Lord Jasper was the first to speak, taking a bite of his mutton before sharing a personal tidbit. "You know, Maera," he began, "before my match with your mother, we courted for a short while."
Maera paused in her meal, her attention shifting from her tea to her father's face. She raised an eyebrow curiously, her interest piqued. "You did?" she inquired, her voice laced with curiosity.
Lord Jasper nodded, a faint smile gracing his lips as he recalled those days. "Indeed," he confirmed. "Your grandparents eventually arranged our match, but before that, we managed to form a bond."
Sipping her tea thoughtfully, Maera then ventured another question. "Father," she began, "why don't you ever talk about her?"
Lord Jasper's expression turned somber as he contemplated his late wife's memory. "Lady Selmy, my first wife, she provided me with the sons I needed to secure our line," he explained. "But Gael… she gave me her heart. And I gave her mine in return." A distant smile played on his lips as he reminisced. "From that initial spark, we built something truly extraordinary. Our love only grew with every child we brought into this world."
He sighed, his gaze dropping to his plate. "And then, it all seemed to crumble," he admitted, his voice laden with sadness. "With your mother's sudden death on the childbed, and the loss of your twin brothers a few months later, it felt as though I'd lost everything. There was barely any evidence left of the six years of marriage we shared. Except for you."
The room fell silent again, but this time, it was a shared moment of understanding. Maera listened attentively, grateful that he had shared such a vulnerable part of himself with her. Finally, Lord Jasper cleared his throat and reached for another letter on the table. He handed it to Maera, a Seven-Pointed Star gracing the blue wax seal. It was a letter from her sister, Sabine. Maera's eyes lit up with joy, and she looked at her father with gratitude.
Maera's face lit up with a radiant smile as she accepted the letter. "Thank you, Father," she said genuinely, her gratitude evident in her eyes. She bowed her head respectfully, then rose from her seat to return to her chambers, eager to read the words from her beloved sister.
Maera practically rushed back to her chambers, anticipation bubbling within her. She let the doors shut behind her as she quickly sat at her dining table, breaking the seal on the letter. As she unfolded the parchment, Sabine's words filled her vision.
Dearest Maera,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. Your previous letter brought me immense comfort, and I cannot thank you enough for your kind words. I was rather nervous about the prospect of marriage, and your support meant the world to me.
As for my marriage to Lord Adrian, things appear to be progressing well. Our initial meeting was, I must admit, quite awkward. However, over the past moon, we have grown closer and developed a true friendship. We often spend our evenings reading by the hearth, sharing stories, and even enjoying horse rides together. I find that I genuinely enjoy his company.
Now, regarding the wedding night, I shall not sugarcoat it. Septa Mathilde's warnings were not unfounded. It did hurt. But please know that things are getting easier. Lord Adrian has been patient and kind, and we are slowly getting to know each other more intimately. Although, our first encounter was rather brief, and afterward, Lord Adrian snored quite loudly throughout the night, which meant I got little sleep.
Nevertheless, Maera, I hope my experiences bring you some comfort and insight into what lies ahead. I wish for you to find contentment and friendship in your own marriage, just as I have found with Lord Adrian. I long for the day we can see each other once more.
With love and warm regards,
Sabine
Maera's heart swelled with affection for her younger sister as she read the letter. Sabine's words provided both guidance and reassurance as she navigated the uncertain path of her own upcoming marriage. With newfound determination coursing through her, Maera summoned both Thena and Ser Arryk into her chambers. Her loyal entourage arrived promptly, ready to attend to their lady's requests. Maera addressed Thena, her maid, and trusted confidante first.
"Thena, I need you to reach out to my potential suitors. Let them know that I acknowledge their interest and that I'm open to being invited for a short courtship, with Ser Arryk as my chaperone. Please ensure this message is delivered promptly," Maera instructed, her eyes locked on her trusted handmaiden. Thena nodded respectfully and swiftly exited the room, eager to carry out her lady's command.
Turning her attention to Ser Arryk, Maera's expression softened with gratitude. "Ser Arryk, I must apologize for my behavior last night, for I fear I made a spectacle of myself," she admitted, her voice tinged with regret.
The knight chuckled, his tone warm. "My lady, you need not worry. Your well-being is my concern, and so long as you enjoyed yourself, that's all that matters."
Maera offered a weak smile, not truly able to enjoy the previous night's festivities due to her encounter with Prince Aemond. She swiftly changed the subject, her concern for Queen Helaena evident.
"Have you heard anything about Queen Helaena? I worry for her, having to spend the evening with King Aegon," Maera inquired, her brows furrowing.
Ser Arryk provided what information he had. "Her Grace left the king's chambers this morning, my lady. She seems to be well, at least as far as I can tell."
Maera appreciated the knight's response but found it too vague for her liking. She resolved to visit the Queen later and check on her personally. Her curiosity then turned to the rest of the Royal family.
Her curiosity about the royal family still lingering, Maera asked Ser Arryk about the whereabouts of the other members. She inquired about King Aegon, eliciting an eye roll from her when she learned that he remained in his chambers, likely nursing a hangover worse than her own.
Ser Arryk continued to provide details. "Queen Alicent and Prince Daeron are spending time together today, my lady. Along with the royal children. I have heard they are making their way to the Godswood this afternoon."
Maera nodded, acknowledging this information. Her curiosity about Prince Aemond surfaced, and her stomach churned with anxiety as she asked, "What about Prince Aemond, Ser Arryk?"
The knight's response brought a mixture of relief and resolve. "Prince Aemond left this morning on his dragon to attend to his royal duties. He won't be back at the Keep for a few days, possibly a week."
A sigh of relief escaped Maera's lips, and she offered a silent thank you to the gods that Aemond was away. It would provide her the space and time to focus on her suitors without the one-eyed Prince's interference.
"Thank you, Ser Arryk," she said, grateful for his information. She dismissed him with a nod and a kind smile before turning her attention to penning her reply to her sister Sabine.
Tumblr media
Over the following days, Maera resumed her duties in Queen Helaena's service, though the Queen kept the details of her night with King Aegon to herself. Maera couldn't help but worry for her friend's well-being, her concern showing on her face. She approached Helaena, offering her support.
"If you wish for Aegon to be punished for his actions, Helaena, I'll be more than happy to see it done," Maera said earnestly, her loyalty to her friend unwavering.
Helaena chuckled at Maera's fiery response, appreciating her friend's willingness to defend her honor. "Oh, Maera, you should be on the Kingsguard," she replied, though she didn't reveal her true feelings about the matter.
With leave granted to engage with her potential suitors, Maera found herself in the Keep Gardens for her first meeting, accompanied by Ser Arryk as her chaperone. Her first suitor, Lady Johanna Lannister, stood before her, her pregnancy evident, carrying Maera’s possible future husband.
Maera couldn't help but find the situation somewhat absurd, sharing questioning glances with Ser Arryk, who chuckled to himself. Lady Johanna, too, acknowledged the peculiarity of the situation, highlighting the lengths to which noble alliances would go.
"Men would match babe to crone if it meant securing a favorable alliance," Lady Johanna remarked, a wry smile on her face.
As they conversed, Lady Johanna painted a picture of life in Lannisport and what Maera's future might look like as Lady of Casterly Rock if she were to marry Johanna's son. Maera considered the absurdity of it all but couldn't help but see one undeniable advantage - her sister Sabine resided in closely to Lannisport. Having family close by was a comforting thought amidst all this uncertainty.
As their meeting drew to a close, Maera placed a gentle hand on Lady Johanna's baby bump, feeling the unborn child's movements beneath. Memories of her stepmothers' pregnancies and the many births she had witnessed at Rain House flooded her mind. She addressed the bump with sincerity.
"It truly is an honor to be courted by his lordship," Maera said, a warm smile on her face. She turned her attention to Lady Johanna. "Thank you for taking the time to share what it's like to be a Lannister. Your insights mean a great deal to me."
Lady Johanna giggled, charmed by Maera's demeanor. This courtship might have been unconventional, but there was warmth and connection between them, even in these strange circumstances.
A day later, Maera had moved on to her next suitor, Lord Humfrey Lefford, but the encounter took an entirely different turn than her previous one. As they sat in the library, Lord Lefford's expectations became painfully clear to Maera.
He spoke of wanting a wife who would exist solely for his desires, to bear his children and cater to his every whim. His vision was that of a submissive, docile wife who would not question her husband's demands and stay home to care for his brood.
Maera listened to his words, growing more uncomfortable by the moment. This was not the kind of marriage she desired, and she couldn't fathom being bound to a man with such archaic views. Politeness compelled her to endure the conversation, but she couldn't wait for it to end.
As Lord Lefford concluded his thoughts, Maera offered a courteous smile and said, "Lord Lefford, I appreciate your candidness and the time you've taken to speak with me. It has been…enlightening." In truth, it had been anything but enlightening, but she wished to end the conversation as gracefully as possible.
Quickly excusing herself, she left the library with a sense of relief. Her desire to share her experiences with Queen Helaena was paramount now, and she headed for the Queen's chambers with eagerness.
However, as she walked through the corridor, her path was unexpectedly blocked by an unfamiliar voice. "Forgive me, I seem to be a bit lost.”
Maera turned her gaze toward the source and found herself face to face with Floris Baratheon, a sense of urgency in the deep brown pools of the lady's eyes. Floris was adorned in a striking yellow dress, with black stag heads adorning the fabric, and a black leather corset cinched around her waist. A black cloak cascaded over her shoulders, completing her striking appearance.
Maera was momentarily taken aback. Up close, Lady Floris was even more beautiful than she had imagined. House Wylde's allegiance to House Baratheon meant that Maera had to offer the utmost respect, even if her feelings towards Floris's betrothal to Prince Aemond stirred some bitterness within her.
With a nod of acknowledgment and an apology for nearly rushing past her, Maera offered, "My apologies, Lady Floris. Of course, I would be honored to assist you.”
Lady Floris then inquired if Maera could guide her to the castle entrance near the stables, as she was preparing to depart for Storm's End. Maera readily agreed, turning to lead the way down the long, winding steps that led to the lower levels of the Red Keep.
Breaking the silence, Floris began, "I know who you are, Lady Maera. Our fathers are close, I believe."
Maera responded with a noncommittal hum as they continued their descent. Realizing her own dismissive tone, she corrected herself and offered a more congenial response.
"Congratulations on your betrothal to Prince Aemond," she said, attempting to be polite, though her inner turmoil about the matter was hard to mask. "You must be very happy at the prospect of becoming a Princess."
As they continued to descend the staircase, Lady Floris couldn't help but scoff at Maera's comment about becoming a princess. She explained, her voice tinged with frustration, "Princess or not, my intended is avoiding me like I'm riddled with greyscale."
Maera, perplexed by this revelation, raised her eyebrows in surprise. She guided Lady Floris down the corridor, her mind racing to understand why Prince Aemond would not extend the courtesy of spending time with his bride-to-be before their wedding. She had assumed that Aemond's mother, Queen Alicent, would encourage the pair to get to know each other, given her own loveless marriage to the late King Viserys.
Floris continued, her tone resentful, "My father is an ambitious man, Lady Maera. He would do anything for a grab at power, including marrying me off to a cripple and a kinslayer."
Maera frowned, feeling a bit defensive on behalf of Aemond. "Prince Aemond has his negative qualities to be sure, but this match is quite advantageous, Lady Floris. You should consider yourself lucky."
However, Maera paused, her thoughts changing. Maybe she was being unfair. After all, Floris was just a woman fulfilling her father's wishes. She spoke again, emphasizing the practical nature of marriage. "Marriage is about duty and providing heirs. That's all your union should be."
Floris nodded as they fell into a thoughtful silence. Descending yet another staircase, Floris eventually broke it by saying, "I know that you've known the Prince since you were children. What can you tell me about him?"
Maera asked, "What would you like to know exactly?"
As they continued their descent, Floris hesitated before she eventually replied, "What to watch out for."
Maera empathized with her and thought about how she'd want to know what her intended was like if she were in the same position.
A flood of memories rushed through Maera's mind. Initially, the memories were negative—how Prince Aemond had toyed with her, shunned her, and belittled her, making her furious. "The Prince can be cruel and arrogant. He often thinks he's the smartest person in the room and harbors bitterness about not being on the Iron Throne instead of Aegon."
But then, a shift occurred. Maera's memories took a more positive turn. Memories of them playing together as children, sparring as adults, his encouragement of her passions, and his deep love for his family. Maera remembered the way he had defended her honor when Aegon attacked her. These recollections caused a soft smile to curl on her lips, leaving Lady Floris puzzled.
Maera cleared her throat before continuing, "The boy I knew as a child is still in Aemond, somewhere. Perhaps the right person could bring it out. I see glimpses of his old self sometimes—his fierce loyalty to his family, his skill with the sword, and how he genuinely cares about serving the realm. If you manage to bring out this side of him, Lady Floris, you might find some contentment in your marriage."
As they reached the stable entrance, Floris thanked Maera for guiding her out of the Keep and for the insights she had shared. Floris acknowledged, "You are right about marriage being for duty. Once I've produced a few of the Prince’s heirs, I hope another Lord will take interest in me and truly sweep me off my feet. Hopefully one with two eyes."
Maera bit her tongue, choosing not to react to the blatant insult Floris had just delivered about Aemond, despite all the positive qualities she had just listed. Instead, she offered a respectful nod and falsely replied, "I hope your journey back to Storms End is a safe one, Lady Floris, and I look forward to meeting you once again in the near future.”

Can certain foods or supplements help with weight loss?
Tumblr media
Certain foods and supplements can support weight loss, but they aren’t magic solutions. Here’s the scoop:
Foods
High-Protein Foods:
Chicken & Fish: Lean meats are great because they provide high-quality protein without too much fat. Fish like salmon also provide omega-3 fatty acids, which can promote fat loss and improve metabolic health.
Tofu & Legumes: These are excellent plant-based protein sources. They help maintain muscle mass during weight loss and keep you full for longer periods.
Fiber-Rich Foods:
Whole Grains: Brown rice, quinoa, and oats are packed with fiber. They take longer to digest, keeping you full and reducing the urge to snack.
Fruits & Veggies: Apples, berries, broccoli, and carrots are low in calories but high in fiber and nutrients. They help maintain steady blood sugar levels, preventing energy crashes and hunger pangs.
Beans: Black beans, lentils, and chickpeas are great for adding bulk to your meals without adding too many calories. They are also high in protein.
Healthy Fats:
Avocados: Rich in monounsaturated fats, they can help regulate appetite hormones.
Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, and pistachios provide a good balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats, making them perfect for snacks.
Olive Oil: Using olive oil in moderation instead of butter or other fats can support weight loss by providing healthy fats that help with satiety.
Green Tea:
Contains catechins, which may help boost metabolism and increase fat burning, especially during exercise. Drinking a few cups a day can contribute to overall calorie burn.
Water-Rich Foods:
Foods with high water content can help you feel full with fewer calories. They are also generally low in energy density, which means you can eat larger portions without
Supplements
Green Tea Extract:
This supplement contains concentrated doses of the beneficial compounds in green tea. It’s often used to increase fat oxidation during exercise and enhance metabolic rate.
Glucomannan:
A natural dietary fiber derived from the root of the konjac plant. It absorbs water and expands in your stomach, making you feel full and reducing calorie intake.
Protein Powder:
Useful for people who struggle to get enough protein through food alone. It helps with muscle repair and growth, which can boost metabolism since muscle tissue burns more calories than fat.
Caffeine:
Found in coffee, certain teas, and supplements. It can enhance fat burning and boost metabolic rate in the short term. However, it’s important to consume it in moderation to avoid negative side effects like jitteriness and sleep disturbances.
Probiotics:
These beneficial bacteria can improve gut health, which is increasingly recognized as playing a role in weight regulation. Some strains of probiotics may help with weight loss by improving digestion and nutrient absorption.
Key Points to Remember
Balanced Diet: No single food or supplement can replace the benefits of a well-rounded diet. Incorporating a variety of nutrient-dense foods is essential.
Exercise: Physical activity is crucial for burning calories, building muscle, and improving overall health.
Consistency: Sustainable weight loss comes from long-term changes in diet and lifestyle, not quick fixes.
Medical Advice: Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.
Combining these foods and supplements with a healthy lifestyle can help you achieve and maintain your weight loss goals more effectively.

Guess who just discovered the amazing taste of iced green tea?
Note for those who are worried about losing the benefits of green tea if it's cold : I did my research and the benefits are the same whether you drink it hot or cold, just make sure to steep it the same amount of time as you would if you drink it hot.
I kinda prefer it cold, especially when I'm restricting. That feeling of the ice cold tea going into an empty stomach-

drowning in the other's clothes, because they are way too big, but loving it + Luke/Hector
Luke had the lovely image of watching Hector choke on his tea as Luke walked into the kitchen wearing Hector’s shirt and hoodie from the night before, and nothing else. The nice thing was Hector was tall enough what fit him came to Luke’s mid thigh. And Hector preferred belting these clothes into place rather than buy clothes that fit by modern earths standards. The effect was Luke feeling like drowning in Hector’s clothes.
The added benefit was drowning in how Hector smelled, too. Luke sat down at the table, noting Hector had set his tea down and was staring at Luke with disbelieving hunger. Luke tilted his head as though he didn’t know why Hector was looking at him like that. “Do you need to take a moment?” He asked, not unkindly, though mischievously. “Sounds like you swallowed wrong.”
Green eyes flicked across his face as though he couldn’t believe what he was hearing or seeing. “Blue looks good on you.” Hector said finally. “You should wear it more often.” Luke smiled and propped his chin on his hand as he eyed Hector from the table.
“Buy more comfy sweaters then. I like this one.”
“Yea? Why’s that?” Eyes flicked up and down again. “You’re swimming in those, that cannot be comfortable, wearing something so big on you.” Luke begged to differ, and knew Hector was just saying this because Luke didn’t usually wear anything not form fitting, but he just laughed, deciding on a different path.
“Smells like you.”
Hector put the cup down hard enough for it to splash on the counter as he gave a strained laugh of his own. “Luke, I wouldn’t be playing games the way you’re playing with me.”
“Why not?”
Another strained laugh and a dip of his head, Luke realizing with a start that Hector was acting bashful. Or-as bashful as someone like him could act. Hector’s eyes met Luke’s under the dark black hair falling across his face, and Luke’s stomach clenched.
“Luke Walker” his voice had dropped to a low, musical growl. It went straight to Luke’s dick. Normally he hated the butchering of his last name, but this had abruptly reminded him that in this world and this time, Hector shared the same name. The word choice, he realized as abruptly, was wholly on purpose on Hector’s part. He straightened almost defiantly.
“Hector Walker” he returned, fighting a smirk. Hector’s eyes got huge as he laughed again, voice breaking.
“What-why-what are you doing?” Hector asked, voice fighting to get back to normal with a bit of throat clearing. “What’s gotten into you?”
“You did” Luke reminded him graciously. “Last night.” It felt like in between one heartbeat and the next, Hector had gone from the counter to kneeling next to him. Fingers at his chin and not letting Luke look away from intense green eyes. “I didn’t want to lose your…your smell. Yet.” It sounded stupid to him said out loud. It was more than that, way more, he just…Hector’s everything, was preceded by the distinct smell unique to him. Silence stretched and Luke tried to look away. Hector’s fingers kept him still.
“Go on.” Hector murmured, amused and intense. “Don’t stop now.”
“I can make you let go.”
“But you won’t.”
“No” Luke breathed as one hand brushed up his thigh. “No I won’t.”
Hector’s grin got wider as their roles reversed. “Why do you want to smell like me, star boy?”
“You’re late for work.” Luke said after a long moment. “Thought you’d be gone by now.” He placed a hand against the hand still at his chin. “Last night was..great. More than great.” Hector let go of his chin and after a moment drew him into a long kiss.
“You want me to call out?” Hector murmured against his lips when they broke. “We can do whatever. No need to steal my clothes.”
Luke gave him a peck on the corner of his mouth with a short huffed laugh. “Don’t get yourself fired. We’ve got to keep up appearances.”
“Don’t wear my hoodie to work, Luke.”
“Thought I looked good in blue.”
“My clothes won’t look good with oil stains.”
Hector grinned and kissed him again. “When we’re off work, wanna continue what we started last night, then?”
Luke snorted, grinning into another kiss. “I’m looking forward to it.” He knew if he wanted he could have used Hector’s views of him as ‘royal thus leader’ to get out of both their jobs for the day. However…
Waiting was going to make the treat that much sweeter, and this way he could probably get away with wearing one of Hector’s shirts. If he was careful.

Did Clarke feel like she was cheating on awtr Lexa when she kissed someone different after her passing?
The first time Clarke kisses someone else it feels like she's losing Lexa all over again
It was bad enough that she actually throws up.
She hadn't even planned it. It was a moment of weakness that caught her off-guard. She'd just wanted to go out for a drink for something to do. Had learned her lesson by then that staying home and drinking by herself never led to anything good.
It felt good just to feel something again.
The girl was pretty. Nice enough, Clarke had to say. Someone from her local coffee shop who had been flirty since the second day she'd started. All of 29 with a gentle smile and a confidence that conveyed that she was someone used to getting exactly what she wanted. And for some reason, what she seemed to want was a night out with Clarke.
And Clarke's been so lonely. Can't even remember the last time she'd anything other than work, study, and sleep. Her body misses the feeling of being wanted. And it doesn't mean she has to actually do anything.
That's what she tells herself at least.
The girl picks her up and tells her she's taking her for a night of dancing. Says they're young and hot and she really wants to "see what that body can do." The brazen comment makes Clarke's stomach lurch unpleasantly. Her immediate thought is how hard Lexa would've rolled her eyes at such a tacky pick-up line, but she smothers that thought as immediately as it comes. She can't think about her wife while on this date-not-date. It's easier to let the woman think the puff of laughter was for her benefit anyway.
She never asks Clarke about the ring on her finger.
Clarke doesn't offer details about it either.
That both soothes Clarke's nerves when she settles into her seat at the bar and sets her teeth just a little on edge.
So the girl is pretty, and easy to talk to. Friendly with, it seemed, a large portion of the staff. She orders them drinks and insists on paying and looks so pleased with her herself when she gets Clarke to lift her whiskey sour in a cheers. They talk about work and what the other studied in school, chat about the weather and where they've traveled for vacation. They relay their wildest nights of ill-spent youths, trading stories of partying and hangovers.
Clarke wonders if she'd ever been the type to read a book in a bar.
She ultimately keeps that question to herself.
One drink leads to two, which leads Clarke being led out onto the dancefloor. A third drink has Clarke accepting hands on her hips and humid puffs of breath along her neck.
And in the haze of the beat and the crowd and the whiskey, she lets go for just for a moment. Let's herself forget for just one second.
That's all it takes for the whole world to come crashing back in.
Because when she pulls back and sees this fucking stranger staring her with her hunger, all she can think is how her eyes aren't aren't even close to the right shade of green. Her hands burn against brunette hair that isn't nearly as soft as it should be and her mouth doesn't taste like sweet peppermint tea. Clarke's stomach turns at how her tongue is too rough. How she doesn't smell like old books, flowers, and coffee. How her hands aren't the right kind of lovingly possessive.
This woman is not her wife and she never will be and suddenly in that sea of gyrating bodies, Clarke can't breathe.
She doesn't even say anything to the poor woman who really hasn't done anything wrong. It doesn't matter. Clarke kind of hates her in that moment for all of it. Hates her for asking her out and not being her wife and for making Clarke forget. She shoves out of her arms and out of the crowd and is out of the door without a single word. The vice of her ribcage is too tight to pull in any of the cigarette scented air, and before Clarke can really do anything more than clutch a hand to wrenching feeling splitting open her chest, she's spilling the entire contents of their evening across the pavement.
