ONE PIECE HEADCANON
There was once a small but wealthy Kingdom in the Grand Line, that was invaded by an enemy army; its castle was besieged, and most of the Royal Family (the King and his consort, the Dowager Queen and the three oldest princes) were all brutally killed.
Only the King's youngest child was able to escape, smuggled out of the castle by a couple of loyal servants. He knew, despite his young age, that his disappearance would soon be noticed, and that the enemy would move heaven and earth to find him, capture him, and complete the annihilation of his family. The only way to survive was not only to change his name, but to hide his face, so that no one who met him could recognise him as the heir of the father he resembled so much.
Two weeks later, seven-year-old Eustass Kid met a boy whose face was covered by a mask.

Neil Josten, son of Mars.
If you remember, a while back I had made this post about who would be the godly parents of the Foxes if they were demigods. So I'm starting off this headcanon with our resident violent boi.
Mary Hatford was born in violence and war. It was inevitable that she would one day attract the attention of the Roman God of War.
Patient and fierce, loyal and a fighter, Mars saw in her something that immediately pulled him to her.
That's how Nathaniel came to be. He lived as a Wesninski, his mother still ending up marrying Nathan, but he was a child of violence.
Nathaniel didn't know about his true heritage until after they runaway. After his mother was killed and he became Neil Josten. After a short blonde slammed the butt of his sword against his stomach.
He was told that he was a demigod. Of course, he didn't know what that meant, but even when he found out, he laughed it off and refused to believe it. He called the blonde and the man that had come with him crazy.
That was, until Kevin Day appeared. Of course he knew Kevin, because of his father's involvement with the Moriyamas. He knew Kevin better than he knew himself.
When Kevin said he was also a demigod, Neil started thinking they were all insane.
And then, he started believing he was insane, when he saw an actual monster attack them. When he saw Kevin and Andrew defend themselves with swords and spears. Swift and agile, strong and fierce. Like some goddamn Hollywood movie.
Kevin said it was a miracle Neil had not been attacked so far. Neil suddenly understood his mother's paranoia to move from place to place, never stopping or looking back.
And like this, the red head was convinced - and really, given no choice - to follow them to Camp Half Blood.
Of course, it wouldn't be that easy for Neil. It never was.
Gods nowadays were forced to claim their children early on. But with Neil, something was wrong.
Weeks passed and he was yet to be claimed. He had to suffer through the endless rantings of that one Hermes kid named Nicky at the Hermes Cabin, waiting for his so called 'godly parent' to give a sign.
He was starting to believe people were pulling some kind of prank at him.
However, he couldn't lie and pretend he didn't love some aspects of this camp. Playing capture the flag by Kevin's side, training, sharpening his skills, becoming better and better.
It took almost a month for someone to piece things together. To understand that Neil had a different attitude about him compared to other Greek demigods.
One day, a girl came and said she would help him figure things out.
She was Dan, daughter of Bellona. Neil didn't know what that meant until she explained that Bellona was a roman war Goddess.
She explained that there was another camp. For kids of the Roman gods.
Upon arriving to Camp Jupiter, Neil immediately thought that he had grown fond of the disorganised and chaotic Camp Half Blood and would probably never get used to the roman version of it.
Of course, the moment he stepped in, however, he was claimed.
Neil Josten, son of Mars.
The realisation that Neil wasn't his father's son, that he wasn't a Wesninski, shook him to his core. He was raised like one, though, and that stain would never disappear.
He asked to be taken back to Camp Half Blood. No one forced him to stay and so, Neil went back.
Realising that, unfortunately, he was half brothers with Seth Gordon, Neil moved to the Ares Cabin, still not trusting anyone. He still believed that this was some sort of joke.
Even when he saw things with his own eyes that shouldn't be possible.
It took a while to settle in, to slowly slip into a routine. It took even longer for him to understand his new self. It was like another new identity, with the only difference being that this one wasn't made up.
As a son of Mars, Neil was strong and fast. His impulses and tactical way of thinking translated well into battle. He also found that there were more weapons he could make use of, and skillfully so, but he more often than not stuck to his knives.
He was able to adjust well to this new violent reality, at least. Training, fighting, preparing for battle.
Kevin promised to make him a better fighter. Promised to take his potential and make it into something useful.
He was a son of Athena, and claimed there wasn't anyone better to do it than him. Seeing him fight on the field, Neil believed him.
Andrew promised to keep him safe from the monsters of his past.
He was a son of Apollo. A strange kind of new light in Neil's life. And the redhead believed him.
But little did he know that war was being stirred up. And he was about to find himself right in the middle of it.

Random headcanons that have no bearing on the plot:
When Pax grows up, he is his mother’s height at most. Very tall for a Red but short for a non-Bronzie Gold. Sevro is in denial that Pax is taller than him until the difference is too much to ignore.
Electra on the other hand is Victra’s height and bullies Pax mercilessly about it. She’ll lean her elbow on his head, look around in mock bewilderment like she can’t see him, that sort of thing.
Calypso is the opposite. She is her father’s height but has her mother’s looks. She enjoys teaming up with Electra against Pax even though he is taller than her.
Diana-Selene is an enigma. She looks related to her sisters but isn’t obviously Barca or Julii either way. She’s bubbly and excitable. No one understands where she came from. Still, in some ways, she scares Pax more than Electra does.
Pax has a celebrity crush on Cassius. Cassius is the only major Rising figure he has never met, so there is a certain mystique about him. On rare occasions, Darrow would talk about him with a weird mix of fondness and wistfulness. So Pax associates Cassius with good things. Pax knows the bad things Cassius did but he can’t help the positive association through his father. (Virginia talks about Cassius even less and is strictly neutral and guarded.) Talking about Cassius agitates Electra, though, so Pax keeps this all to himself.
Cassius and Julian met Apollonius several times growing up since he and Karnus were drinking partners. Apple’s personality stressed Julian out but Cassius, like Darrow, was fascinated by his flamboyancy.
Before the Institute, for a year or two, Julian was obsessed with Rim culture. He even studied Japanese since it’s still commonly spoken there. This baffled Cassius but it made Julian happy so he endured the obsession. Cassius still understands some Japanese to this day but can’t speak or read it. Karnus made sure to crush Julian’s spirit about liking Moonie stuff at every chance because he hated anything Julian liked on principle.
Pytha has known Cassius since he was born. They obviously weren’t close at the time, but she crossed paths with the Bellona kids often enough for Cassius to know her name. He is grateful for their serendipitous reunion after the Rising. It is comforting to have even a small piece of House Bellona with him. Still, he was a bit startled by how fast she adjusted to calling him by his first name rather than dominus, even though he insisted on it.
Pytha loved to blast loud techno in the Archi. Lysander always hated it. Cassius did at first too but he grew fond of it over time. He’ll never admit it though.
After living on the Archi for so long, Cassius is used to living in cramped spaces, and fighting space pirates in tight corridors. Wide open areas make him nervous. Sort of the opposite of Darrow’s claustrophobia, but it’s not a full blown PTSD symptom in this case.
Cassius enjoys playing Karachi. Lysander hates it because it relies on reading people rather than strict game logic. (I’m pretty sure that was stated somewhere in Iron Gold, actually, but I can’t find it.) Diomedes is weirdly good at the game, like to a scary degree. Ajax hates card and board games in general. He only ever played them with his mother because she never judged him harshly for making bad moves.
Holiday used to third wheel at Trigg and Ephraim’s outings early on in their relationship because Trigg was too nervous to go alone. After they became more established, they did go on dates with just the two of them, but Holiday would still often join them because they had a lot of fun together. It turned out Holiday and Ephraim got along really well. In the end, Trigg often had to do damage control on their appalling behavior when they got too drunk and unruly.

Part 2/5 Of my Newsies as Camp Half-blood Headcanon!
@a-fight-we-have-to-win and @morris-delancey-street for the headcanon ideas!
Morris Delancey- Son of Hecate. Morris feels uncomfortable with being Jack's brother, but he learns to accept it and even grows close to Jack and his friends. He's not the best at magic, but his ability to control the Mist is unbelievable. Morris is surprisingly different from Oscar. He's tough because of the lifestyle he was forced to grow up with before finding camp, but he is a bit more approachable compared to his brother. Morris tries to be more open at camp, but he always feels like he's letting Oscar down. He always craved approval from his brother, so he keeps any interaction with others that's even slightly friendly a secret. Because of this, he has a few friends. Secretly, Morris is a book nerd. He loves reading, he feels like he can just run away to a world where everything is alright. He never reads when Oscar is nearby, or anyone really. He mostly sticks to reading on his bunk at night. Because of how he acts in front of different people, Morris sometimes loses a sense of who he really is and it drives him insane. Morris is creative in the ways that he can be so many different people at once and still keep it all in control. He tries to use the Mist to hide most of himself from others, but they are all demigods so he has to put forth a lot of effort.
Spencer "Specs"- Son of Hades. He's unusual social for a child of Hades, but besides this it makes sense. He has a darker side that he reserves for times when the people he cares about are hurt or in danger. Specs is very aware of himself. He feels awkward because he's so sarcastic and he jokes around sometimes, so he struggles with self esteem. He's very optimistic and hopeful though. This distracts him from worrying about how he is around others. He's very patient and considerate of others because he knows what it's like to want to be better than what you already are. He's similar to Romeo since he likes helping others, but he works better with being a listener instead of things like camp tours or showing a new camper the ropes.
Elmer Kasprzak- Son of Demeter. Elmer is unbelievably peaceful, unlike half of his siblings and similar to the other half. He can be intense if he needs to be, but he's more of a peaceful camper. He's helpful, but he prefers his friends and being outside more than anything. Elmer tends to bottle up his emotions because he doesn't know how to truly express himself. He doesn't want to scare off any of his close friends because of his emotions, so he doesn't really open up much. Elmer likes to think what he has is enough, in a sense that he doesn't go looking for danger, so he's not very ambitious with camp competitions or quests. Elmer likes his life at camp and he wouldn't trade it for anything.
Benjamin "Buttons" Davenport- Son of Hephaestus. Buttons has OCD. If he seems something is slightly off, he has to fix it. There are noises that bother him and activities at camp that just make him twitchy. He can't really focus, like all demigods, so he plays with the buttons in his pockets that he carries around in case he needs them, hence the name. Buttons likes to be busy because he can distract himself from memories from his past. He hasn't had the easiest life, but he tries to keep a smile on his face because not a single person at camp has had a good life, not one. Buttons is always a valued player during Capture the Flag because he comes up with the most outrageous plans that somehow work out. He's creative and initiative with using what he has around him to create a plan. He works with Davey during Capture the Flag to make the ultimate plan.
Mush Meyers- Son of Apollo. He's not as bright and sunny as the others, but he's still a character. Came to camp with Davey and Les because they were like his adoptive family. His mom died when he was little and the Jacobs always took care of him. Mush didn't really take on a roll as a brother in the family, but he was always there for both Davey and Les. Mush doesn't really talk with anyone other than the Jacobs and a few others. He's generally quiet and this makes it difficult for him to communicate properly. Mush is never really bothered by much, but when he is he almost completely shuts down. He found that archery is a good outlet for dealing with his inability to properly communicate.
Jojo de la Guerra- Son of Bellona. He's slightly different from Katherine because he came from a different background. He lived a great life with his dad and step mom, but he lost both of them to a car accident unlike Katherine who just ran away. He's like Katherine in a sense that he prefers camp Half-blood over camp Jupiter. He can often take things for granted because of the life he lived before camp. He sometimes forgets who he is, whether it be who he is at camp or who he was before camp. He likes to tell stories, which is odd to his friends. He's surprisingly good, so he'll lead campfire stories after they sing songs. He can relate to a lot of the younger kids that had good lives until camp. He helps them adjust and comforts them. He's oddly approachable for a child of Bellona, but he's just as smart and battle ready as any other child.
Finch- Son of Athena. Finch is very intelligent, but he doesn't show it often unless he needs to. Finch has been at camp longer than any of the other "Newsies", as the boys like to call themselves. Finch is quiet and he always has a slingshot at his side, which is useful for scaring off the Hermes pranksters and the rest of the jokers in the group. He occasionally joins the gags, but only when it's against someone he has a small vendetta against. He is a very careful kid, although he's very intelligent. He's focused, for a Demigod with ADHD, and he has a very powerful mind. Finch is classified as depressed because he's been at camp so long, but he works hard on trying to be happy as much as possible. His friends support him and give him as much or little space as he needs. His mood swings are unpredictable, but he works with Albert especially to be happy. He wants to be happier, to move past the memories of living at camp since he was little. Finch likes to feel like he's in control of just himself. He knows he can't control everything, so he settles for just himself. He expressed himself through writing, and hardly anyone sees his writing. Finch isn't very trusting of anyone outside his friend circle, which he keeps exclusive.
Mike and Ike- Sons of Hermes. They are worse than Race. They are basically the Stolls, maybe worse. Both worry that they have to be the pranksters and they have to be funny, so they try too hard to be people they aren't truly. Yes, they are mischievous, but they are also very reasonable kids. Both are worried that they'll lose each other over anything. It's happened before and even though they don't show much in front of everyone else, they both worry for each other constantly. They mostly stick to their group of friends and they like it that way. To sum it up, they are a more mischievous duo than the Stolls. Their greatest weakness is their loyalty to each other and those they are about because they are willing to do anything for each other. This is also their greatest strength.
Hotshot- Son of Hades. Hotshot is opposite of Specs and more like how people picture a son of Hades. Hotshot is a very competitive camper, but he's also discreet. He's like a behind the scenes guy. Spot's his best friend, so they work well together. They are a more physical Davey and Buttons during Capture the Flag. He doesn't socialize much at all, but he's extremely intelligent. Basically, Hotshot keeps to himself and he gets by easily. Hotshot is very paranoid because he was with Spot on the quest that took one of their best friends. Both have PTSD, but Hotshot has more paranoia than anything. Hotshot can mostly handle his paranoia and PTSD by himself, it's how he copes, so he works better by himself. He occasionally confides in Spot, but it's rare. While Hotshots past tends to make him falter often, but he mostly has it under control because of his determination of never let the past repeat itself.
Henry- Son of Hebe. Henry tries to drink in his youth and he enjoys life as it is, although he won't just be lazy. Henry is very self reliant. His father owned a Deli and he wants to start his own Deli after his father died. He's always been self reliant and he's very knowledgeable of the Demigod world. He's very creative and also very understanding of all campers, even Oscar. He might not always like them, but since he knows so much about the world they live in, he knows that everyone acts the way they do for a reason. He helps campers like Morris become more comfortable with themselves at camp. Henry is very close to all his friends, but he isn't afraid to give them all a piece of his mind if they do something too stupid or reckless. Despite how he is with friends, Henry feels lonely without his dad. They shared an unbreakable bond and it haunts him to think his dad is gone. His biggest fear is losing those he loves. He only really cooks and bakes because of his dad, but he doesn't mind.

DEVOUT TO DEFIANT : ANNABETH’S VIEW OF THE GODS ;;
( aka how i change shit up from canon and ruin all of rick’s hard work pART TWO!! )
“i’ve been here since i was a kid, i did everything they ever asked, yeah, i did. and for what?”
so annabeth just????? she’s definitely not the one that’s been screwed over the most by the gods in the series, but she’s been present and closely related to those that have really gotten the worst treatment from olympus. from luke to percy, she’s seen the full spectrum of things, and it’s shaped her opinion more and more over the years to the point where she outright turns her back on the gods in quiet but open defiance of their rule over olympus and the demigods.
imma be splitting this into little pieces which are the following--
i. luke’s teachings and what she learned from his life/death ii. annabeth’s relationship to athena and how it all started going downhill iii. the wars and how annabeth’s idea of the gods was changed vi. who is she now-- annabeth after heroes of olympus
trigger warnings : death / violence
I. LUKE’S TEACHINGS AND WHAT SHE LEARNED FROM HIS LIFE/DEATH
to wildly oversimplify luke, he really hated the gods. his daddy issues were truly something else, and his resentment and anger towards hermes and the other gods almost destroyed olympus. now, annabeth’s relationship with luke is incredibly complicated ( i’ve written something about all of annabeth’s relationships in the books, which you can check out here ), and honestly a lot of her issues with luke come from the fact that he a) didn’t talk to her about any of this, he just shut her out, and he b) never asked her to come with him. that’s the real kicker, because if luke had asked annabeth after the titan’s curse, annabeth would’ve left to fight on his side, and would’ve tried to take percy and thalia with her. i touch on this more later.
the main thing that annabeth really learned from luke was to never give up. luke was wrong about a lot of things, and his corruption stemmed firmly from his point of weakness-- his resentment and bitterness, but also kinda his wounded pride-- but in the end, annabeth was able to get through to him. she didn’t write luke off as a lost cause, which pretty much everyone else did. she believed there was someone worth saving.
and luke made some fair points, which she realizes later on as she herself gets more resentful towards the gods. this is touched on in the section about athena more, but annabeth really starts to realize how far the gods have to go, and that maybe the apologies owed aren’t from the demigods, or the fault of the demigods, but the gods themselves. luke hit the point where he was done fucking around and had to stand up to the gods. annabeth hits this point too, but unlike luke, she’s smart about it and does it on her own terms rather than letting herself be tempted into something she can’t control.
II. ANNABETH’S RELATIONSHIP TO ATHENA AND HOW IT ALL STARTED GOING DOWNHILL
okay so when we first meet annabeth, it’s when she’s twelve years old ( duh, we all remember this ), and she’s been living with the knowledge that she’s a demigod for about five years. of those five years, she’s spent two as the head counselor of her cabin ( these campers are CHILDREN, i will get into that more in the last section, but it’s really important to note how young annabeth is at this time ). and we get to see that annabeth’s views of the gods and their children are INCREDIBLY dated. her initial dislike / distrust of percy and his intentions is due to the rivalry between their parents ( athena and poseidon ) and the hostility those two share towards each other. annabeth is adamantly opposed to befriending percy even after they’ve headed out on their quest together, and it takes her a long time to actually get over that and accept that maybe she can be friends with people that her mom wouldn’t approve of. this actually proves to be a regular problem for annabeth, as she has a lot of trouble learning to trust tyson ( percy’s half brother and a cyclops ) because of his connection to poseidon, which once again stems from her mother’s hatred of poseidon.
prior to annabeth leaving for her quest in the lightning thief, it’s clear that she’s a pretty mama’s approval oriented kid. she holds athena in high regard, and we can see how much faith she puts in her mother since her catchphrase is “athena always has a plan.” she doesn’t, girl, she really doesn’t. but that’s not the point. annabeth idolizes and champions her mother, and really just wants to be like her in every way possible. UNTIL, of course, things start to change.
where shit really gets bad is at the end of the titan’s curse. keep in mind that two of annabeth’s closest friends-- thalia and percy-- have just risked their asses to save annabeth’s life and the life of artemis. so fresh off that high, and with annabeth owing her survival completely to her two friends, they then show up at olympus so the gods can vote on whether or not to kill percy and thalia in order to avoid the prophecy. now. annabeth is still loyal to her mother at this point, but also to her friends. i mean obviously, they’ve just saved her life ( from luke, even though he’s kinda taken over by kronos at this point, but that’s a whole other thing ), and what’s their reward? the gods vote on whether or not to kill them, and athena votes that they should. not only that, but athena is really the first and the strongest advocate of killing thalia and percy. annabeth has been in loyal service to her mother for i think seven years at this point, and even knowing that annabeth’s friends are officially down to two ( the loss of luke really makes thalia and percy her two closest friends. sorry grover. ), athena sees the best solution being to kill those two off. which annabeth gets, strategically, but annabeth isn’t all battle strategy. we’ve seen her at this point show a lot of emotion and heart, especially when it comes to her friends ( her ongoing faith in luke’s innocence really highlights this perfectly. even during the final battle, she doesn’t give up on him, and it’s that devotion and trust in him that really saves the day at the end ). we know that there’s no way annabeth could ever rationalize her way through this, and this is the moment when the first seeds of bitterness are placed in annabeth’s heart.
athena’s continued harshness towards percy over something as juvenile ( in annabeth’s mind, now that she’s actually had some time to grow up and become independent of her mother’s thoughts when it comes to her rivalry with poseidon ) as annabeth’s relationship with percy is also something that grates on annabeth’s nerves and fosters her resentment towards her mother.
during the heroes of olympus series, annabeth really gets shit on for being athena’s daughter by the romans. it’s considered to be kinda scandalous for her to be the daughter of athena, since minerva is so wildly different from her greek counterpart. so now she’s facing all this crap for being the daughter of someone she’s not super duper thrilled to be the daughter of, and annabeth’s meeting with minerva really pisses her off. yes, she understands that it’s unfair and demeaning to be reduced from the status of athena to the image of minerva with her power diminished, but once again, her mom is saying percy should be destroyed, and once again, annabeth is being charged with an anger, resentment, and revenge that isn’t hers.
and then there’s the matter of the athena parthenos. annabeth has to face her absolute worst fears to get that goddamn statue, falls into tartarus for her troubles, has to deal with all sorts of shit, and what’s the reward? a ‘nice job, but you haven’t done enough yet’ from athena, who tells her she needs to get the athena parthenos back to camp halfblood. reyna gets the support and power of both athena and bellona behind her when she’s fighting orion, annabeth gets another job to do. she’s tired. she’s exhausted. she’s done so much already and she’s done. annabeth is half dead from her time in tartarus at this point, and her ability to keep going is barely there.
true and fair, athena does come in and help annabeth out in the big battle against the giants. and that’s a moment where things could maybe get better, but they can’t. at this point, annabeth has been faced with too much, and too much resentment has built up in her chest when it comes to her mother. i’ll talk about this more in the last section, but annabeth’s relationship with athena is too damaged at this point to ever be repaired or bring annabeth back to the point of idolizing her mother that she was at when she was a kid.
** there are a few things that annabeth’s opinion hasn’t changed on, though her relationship with percy has made some of these decisions actually have weight to them. these are just my personal headcanons of annabeth, but the big one is that annabeth never wants to get married. ever. athena never married, and annabeth had always seen this being the path for her to take ( which we can kinda see referenced in canon when she’s considering joining the hunters of artemis. boys were never really her top priority ). and she was totally fine with that. but especially after she started dating percy and she saw how much her mom hated him, she knows that if she ever was to get married, it would not be with athena’s blessing. no matter how resentful annabeth is towards her mother at the end, she still can’t stand the concept of athena fully turning her back on annabeth, so she remains firm with her decision that she’s never going to get married, even if she and percy did reach that point in their relationship one day. **
III. THE WARS AND HOW ANNABETH’S IDEA OF THE GODS WAS CHANGED
annabeth fights in two wars in five years. two. and by the time the second war ends, she’s seventeen years old. we always get to see ( in the original series, at least ) how stunned percy is to still be alive, and while the romans have legacies, the greeks don’t seem to as far as i remember. they all seem to just die young. i’ll get back to this in a sec.
now, while the gods end up coming to fight in the final battles, it’s a pain in the ass to get them to contribute. they really only sweep in to save the day at the end, which by the time the second big war rolls around, is just not enough. especially in the first war, the problem was the gods. that’s what started the whole thing, that’s what let kronos rise to power, that’s what they were all fighting over-- the gods keeping control of olympus and the world. and what did they get? the gods agreed to pretty much the bare minimum and promised to claim their demigod children. round of applause, can’t believe you would do something so controversial yet so brave. it’s a victory that day, but they all go back to camp halfblood after and realize how many people are dead. this is a quote from percy in the last olympian, but i feel like it sums this up really nicely--
“I stared out the window into deep blue water. Beckendorf was supposed to go to college in the fall. He had a girlfriend, lots of friends, his whole life ahead of him. He couldn't be gone.”
they’re kids. most of the demigods at camp are teenagers, and as far as i’m aware/remember, beckendorf and luke are the only demigods we see in the original series that are 18+ years old. meanwhile the olympians are all totally chill with sending them out to fight monsters and titans and giants and all this shit, and then sweep in when they absolutely have to so it looks like they’re contributing. this isn’t a new thing. historically ( in mythology, not literal history ), this is kinda just what the gods do, though they will intervene now and then ( athena helps achilles when he’s trying to kill hector and helps odysseus like 50000 times, and i believe apollo is the one that stabs patroclus before hector is able to kill him. patroclus is a tough guy, y’all stop treating him like he’s a wimp ) in smaller ways. mind you, these were adults trained in combat fighting other adults trained in combat. but now? when it’s kids versus monsters/titans/giants ( oh my )? nope. they’re happy to let the kids fight it out on their own. that’s fucked up.
after the original series ends, annabeth’s kinda confronted with this for the first time. she hasn’t really considered it much before, but then hopping into the heroes of olympus series, when she sees how well organized the romans are and how they’ve maintained that militaristic mindset even in modern day, annabeth suddenly has that realization that oh shit, we’re being trained to be weapons. growing up in camp halfblood, being trained to fight, she was always told was to protect them from monsters, but she’s fought in two wars now. and suddenly, abruptly, disturbingly, annabeth realizes how messed up it really is that she’s been attending a summer camp where she learns to be a solider and kill things for ten years and she never thought about this until now because it just got normalized for her.
VI. WHO IS SHE NOW-- ANNABETH AFTER HEROES OF OLYMPUS
this is all my own personal headcanons, and how i move forward with annabeth. probably the most important thing is that annabeth stops sacrificing to the gods. they make offerings to the gods every meal at camp halfblood, and she just stops doing it. it’s like the pledge of allegiance here in america, you get into the habit of reciting it every morning at school ( yeah, they have us do that, every single day five days a week ) and don’t really think too much about it, and then someone points out how that’s kinda messed up and it’s like “oh damn you kinda right.” for annabeth, it’s kinda like that. she’s now aware of how much the gods have taken advantage of them, and she makes the decision not to pay tribute to them anymore. the gods have had enough, she’s paid her dues, she’s done her time. she’s not doing anything else for them.
mind, annabeth would never outright turn her backs on the gods and she’d never go as hardcore against them as luke did, but at a certain point she just can’t find it in herself to continue doing things as she’s been doing them. like luke was wrong when it came to a lot of things and percy really did help progress happen but after the second war ends, she just realizes that it’s never gonna be enough so she just stops putting in the effort to be the perfect daughter to athena, who after the war’s done and her work in olympus is finished, she just doesn’t talk to anymore after this. she stops praying for guidance and wisdom in battle. she’s annabeth goddamn chase. she don’t need no fuckin help. she really doesn’t give a shit about being the favorite child anymore.
and i think that’s a large part of what drives annabeth to leave camp halfblood to attend new rome university or whatever it’s called. she doesn’t want to be the head of athena’s cabin anymore, and that anger temporarily drives her away from camp. she’s still stuck seeing it as this training ground for children and not what it should be-- a refuge for those like her. it takes her a long time to sorta work through this.
in my version of annabeth, she decides after a semester to return to camp halfblood, and attends college in nyc so she can be there for her siblings when they need her, not because of athena or out of respect for her mother, but because she knows that if anyone can do better by these kids, it’s her.
if you’ve managed to make it this far, congrats! it’s long as hell and i’m honestly impressed. pls accept this gift of annabeth lookin cute as hell as your prize.

Wedding Headcanons
Based on this because I’m really in the mood for some sappy stuff with Bellona and Thancred
where they get married
Sanctum of the Twelve
when they get married ( ie what time of day, what month and season etc. )
Probably on the day they first met, sometime in the afternoon.
what traditions they include ( do they get married under a chuppah and crush a glass, garter toss, ‘something borrowed, something blue,’ etc. )
I don’t think their wedding would be too big on traditions. Just the typical exchanging of the rings ceremony.
what their wedding cake looks like
….who smashes cake into whose face
Bellona would be the one to smash cake into Thancred’s face. Even goes to pretend like she’s offering him a piece. Thinks she’s hilarious when she does it. Thancred then tries to get revenge.
who proposed to who first
Thancred proposed to Bellona. Though it takes him awhile to work up the courage.
who walks down the aisle and who waits at the altar ( or neither )
Bellona walks down the isle. Thancred waits at the alter.
what their wedding dresses / suits / other look like
For Bellona I imagine her dress to be similar the traditional chiton women wore in Ancient Greece. Thancred maybe in a traditional tux? Or maybe a nice waistcoat jacket?
what their wedding colour scheme is and what sort of decor they have
Lots of white, blue, and silver.
what flowers are in the bouquet ( if applicable. bonus: what do the flowers mean? )
Red lilies (love and passion)
what their vows are ( eg poetry, traditional, improvised etc. )
Thancred’s are definitely very poetic and flowery. The man will always be bard at heart. Bellona’s are no less flowery but she gets too embarrassed to finish them.
if anyone’s late to the wedding
Nope.
who’s in the bridal parties / groomsmen / other
Definitely the Scions.
what their bridal party / groomsmen / other are wearing
Blue dresses for the bridesmaids. White suits for the groomsmen
who gives speeches at the reception ( bonus: what do they say? recount a sweet memory or two between them? tell an embarrassing story? )
Alphinaud would probably give some really sweet speech about the time they’ve all fought together. And recount a few really happy memories.
who catches the bouquet( s )
Lyse
what their wedding photos are like ( are they sweet, with the couple holding hands or kissing or ~gazing into each others eyes~? are they silly, with a snapshot of the ‘cake-smash’ moment? or are they artistic, with one of them facing the sunset or holding their bouquets? )
Definitely the cute “cake-smash” moment. Followed by photos of Thancred trying to chase Bellona to get her back for it.
what sort of food they have at the reception
A decent variety. Probably a mix of traditional Eorzean and Garlean cuisine.
who cries first during the ceremony
Bellona. It’d be a bit overwhelming after going through so much and thinking she’d never have true happiness.
how wild their reception gets ( who dances the best, who gets drunk first, etc. )
Not too rowdy. Just a private reception with the Scions and a few other dear friends. Might be a little drunkenness.
what their rings are like
Nothing too ostentatious. Two lovely silver rings that can be fit together.
what sort of favours they have ( heart shaped sparklers, mini champagne bottles, personalised candy etc. )
Cute little gift baskets.
where they go for their honeymoon
Maybe in Kugane? When Bellona came back from Doma, she promised Thancred she’d take him to the Far East one day.
something memorable that happens during the party / ceremony ( do they run out of ice and someone goes to get it in full formal wear on foot, does anyone fall asleep in the middle of the party, etc. )
The reception taking place outside, gets ruined by the rain. It takes everyone by surprise as they’re enjoying the festivities and they all have to run for shelter.
who officiates the ceremony
Maybe Father Illiud?
what song their first dance is to
A nice violin suite
who gives who away as they walk down the aisle
I imagine that they wouldn’t get married until after the war and everything has ended. Maybe there’d finally be peace between Eorzea and the Empire? And if that were the case, perhaps during that time Bellona is able to rekindle things with her family and she gets their blessing to marry. So either Bellona’s mother or father would be the one to give her away.
Otherwise, it would likely be F’lhaminn.
#writing#(To Open My Heart Again)#god my search history is going to be full of wedding related stuff#i spent the entire day debating on whether or not to post this

I got tagged in two things by @suzunesays and @eroticincubi so I do both. I put under the cut to save your dashes. But I’m lazy so I’m not adding another 11 questions LOL. SORRY, MOOFIN.
1. Fuck Marry Kill - your top 3 bias in slbp
Oh jeez. This makes me sad. Okay. Fuck: Takeda Shingen. Obvious reasons. I think, anyway. Marry: Katakura Kojuro. He’s wonderful and I adore him to pieces. Kill: Uesugi Kenshin. T_T I’m so sorry, my precious! But at least I know you get reincarnated...
2. If you could live the life of one famous person, who would it be? why?
Uhh...Kerli. She’s super creative and wonderful and has a cabin in the woods. lol
3. what subject did you least like in school?
Math! I’m just really bad at it. I had to be tutored twice.
4. if you used a weapon what would it be? why?
A scourge. It’s basically a bladed whip like shown below held by Bellona’s Tormented skin from Smite.
5. your fave headcanon about youxyour lord
I never really thought of one. But surprisingly, they don’t all involve sex. Most involve cuddling of some kind.
6. avatar items or castle items?
Castle items.
7. are you afraid of an animal/ bitten by an animal?
Hundred legged demon bugs. I refuse to type their names.
8. if you could live in SLBP universe, but on the condition that your fave lord will never fall for you, would you do it?
Nope.
9. which one- mountain, sea, desert, volcano, forest and castle.
Forest. It can be nice and cool there.
10. your fave romantic trope?
Soulmates like in Kenshin and Shingen’s stories.
11. do you love me?
MAYBE. Just kidding. Yus.
11. if you were in slbp universe, what would your profession be? ( be realistic about your abilities :9 )
Probably...a painter, I suppose? Thinking on my nail art abilities.
Suzune’s 11 questions.
1. Would you rather have 7 minutes in heaven with your LEAST FAVORITE LORD or 7 minutes in heaven with the MAGISTRATE?
Least favourite lord hands down. I’ll deal with Ieyasu calling me names than being in a room with that slimy asshole.
2. Have you actually had any of the 12 lords favorite treats (like… daifuku, onigiri)… and if so, which ones? If you haven’t, which would you like to try?
I’ve had onigiri before and mochi but it was mochi-wrapped ice cream. I’d like to try konpeito even though I know it’s just crunchy sweet candy.
3. How long have you been play SLBP?
I...don’t remember. Several months now?
4. Do you think you would be a better MC than the MC?
Probably not. lol But there are some situations where I wanna shake her.
5. Who would win in an argument, you or Mitsunari?
Me. Until he throws that scroll at me.
6. If you were trapped in a high school AU with the lords, who would be your best friend? Who would be your frenemy? Who would you confess to? And who would you lock inside a janitor’s closet to get naughty with?
Best friend: Shigezane Frenemy: Nobunaga Confess to: Kenshin or Kojuro Last one: Shingen
7. Do you have any other otome games that you’re playing right now?
I’m playing Midnight Cinderella and I play Mystic Messenger, too.

A book about Wicca and witchcraft.
10. What’s a skill of yours that you’re very proud of?
My nail art.

Shingen. lol Though also Kenshin and Kojuro.
INCU’S TAGGING OF ME.

ONE PIECE HEADCANON
Shanks was found by Gold Roger's crew when he was around one year old; he started his apprenticeship on the Oro Jackson when he was nine. Since a pirate ship was no place for such a young child, he spent the previous eight years with an acquaintance of his future captain, a kind lady who took good care of him.
Shanks soon lost track of her, but he always wondered what had happened to Rouge after he had joined Roger's crew.

Werewolves headcanons
An addendum to the werewolf AU of the Beast in Black series. AKA the most self-indulgent thing that has ever been written.
*****
🐺 Werewolves have existed as long as humans, or wolves, have. Their origins are shrouded in mystery; an unconfirmed theory has it that centuries ago, the druids of an animistic religion gave wolf blood to drink to their tribes' warriors, thinking they would gain the strength and ferocity of the wolves themselves. One day, one of the warriors went beyond that, maybe because he had drank more blood than usual, and transformed into a wolf; his companions asked to share his gift, and from that day on, werewolves spread throughout the world.
🐺 Female werewolves are on average slightly larger than males, and they are all way bigger than regular wolves. An adult werewolf can reach a length of 7.3 feet and weigh up to 150 lbs, and run up to sixty miles per hour for short distances.
🐺 Werewolves are mortal and their life expectancy does not appreciably differ from that of normal humans; on the other hand, werewolves tend to be physically stronger, even while in human form, and remain hale throughout their life.
🐺 A werewolf is conceived in whatever form their parents have assumed before the intercourse; the foetus shifts together with the carrier parent. Most pregnant werewolves decide to give birth in human form, in order to be assisted by doctors and midwifes, but some prefer to shift, find a secluded spot in the woods and take things into their own hands paws. Many werewolf carriers eat placenta, whatever form they give birth in. Werewolves born during full moon nights are considered to be exceptionally lucky.
🐺 Children are expected to control the shifting when they are eight or ten, and most people can do it seamlessly by the time they enter adolescence. Nevertheless, strong emotions of any kind (sorrow, joy, anger, fear) can trigger a werewolf's transformation, which is extremely dangerous for those who live among unsuspecting humans. Meditation can improve self-control, as well as a draught made with monkshood and various officinal plants; alcohol, sleeping pills and recreational drugs can technically incapacitate a person and stop them from transforming. Except...
🐺 No werewolf can, in any case, avoid shifting during plenilune nights; they usually begin to feel the pull as soon as the moon starts rising, and by the time it is at its zenith even the most strong-willed person will begin transforming. The shifting is a peculiar but not painful experience; many werewolves find pleasure in it, a calming and relaxing sensation not unlike that of taking an heavy load off one's shoulders. At dawn, werewolves naturally shift back to human, but sufficiently experienced individuals can retain their wolf form as long as they want.
🐺 Once they shifted, a werewolf is influenced by the wolf's instincts and desires, clashing with their human rationality, and it can be hard for the latter to take over, especially for young werewolves, or during full moon nights, which often results in brawling and domestic destruction. Because of this, young werewolves tend to remain within their territory, to make sure more experienced packmates can shift and help contain them if needed. Unrestrained werewolves are extremely dangerous, and if sufficiently scared, or enraged, or if their pack is threatened, even subadults (that is, teenagers) can be lethal.
🐺 Just like regular wolves, werewolves tend to avoid solitude, preferring the proximity of their family and friends, and to be highly protective of their loved ones, not necessarily other werewolves. Many of them also strongly identify with the territory they live in (village/city, island, even a whole country) with both jealousy and protectiveness. Communities in which werewolves represent the majority of the population, or where their secret is known and protected by their human compatriots, are rare but not unheard of.
🐺 A pack is a group of related werewolves, often including human relatives and close friends of both races; they usually consist of between four and thirty members. Most adults who move away and even form their own packs normally retain membership; unrelated werewolves can join a pack, usually after giving proof of loyalty and strength of character. Inversely, committing a grave crime, especially towards a packmate, usually results in a member's expulsion. Children growing as members of the same pack often consider themselves siblings; relationships between unrelated packmates are rare, unless one joins as an adult.
🐺 Packs are usually led by a mature member, which can be of any gender; a pack leader can be challenged, and deposed by a majority of their packmates. Older members are expected to contribute to the education of the younger ones, and no packmember is ever left in danger or in indigence. Since werewolves are usually forced to hide their nature, packs are not legally recognized, but most werewolves consider the bonds within them as important as those between the members of the same family or lifelong friends, if not more. When a particularly heinous crime is committed, it is often the victim's pack that demands satisfaction, and a pack leader can sometimes exert more authority than a parent or a political ruler.
🐺 In werewolves communities, full moon nights are often considered a joyous occasion, to spend together with family and friends - that is, with the rest of the pack. The presence of other werewolves nearby has a calming effect, and the night is often spent playing, hunting, and mating; the aphrodisiac effect of the shifting under the full moon is well documented, and often extends to werewolves with human partners (after they shifted back).
🐺 Since normal wolves mate for life, mating with someone else after shifting into wolf form is usually considered cheating, at least between adult partners.
🐺 The concepts of pack and territory are so ingrained in werewolves' nature and mind, experiencing the shifting in an unfamiliar territory, or when alone, can actually be traumatizing - especially during full moon nights, when the shifting can't be avoided. In such situations, fear and confusion can lead a shifted werewolf to aggressiveness, and even violence towards humans.
🐺 One person in a million is immune to the bite, no one knows why.
🐺 Once shifted, werewolves can only eat what normal wolves do - which mainly means raw meat. They normally digest it quickly and without complications, but shifting back to human soon after the meal can make a werewolf queasy and lead them to vomit because their human stomach cannot process the food.
🐺 A centuries-old law, promulgated by the World Government and enforced by the Marines, dictating that werewolves be shot on sight, has fallen out of use, mainly because very few people today believe werewolves actually exist, but it has never been abolished.
🐺 Werewolves are immune to most blood disorders. Anemia is virtually unknown among them, but that might also be because of their predilection for red meat. Women who remain in wolf form for long periods can come into estrous. Werewolves can mate with regular wolves, but these unions are infertile.
🐺 Werewolves-fish men unions were thought to be infecund as well, but a single birth has been documented, a little girl whose werewolf carrier barely survived the birth.
🐺 It is theorically possible for a werewolf to reach an intermediate wolf-human state that allows a person to walk upright and retain their human conscience, even though they cannot speak and need to eat like wolves. The ability can be taught, even though the secret behind it is thought to have been lost; on the other hand, werewolf Haki users develop it spontaneously - pretty fortunate, for a certain werewolf pirate who in wolf form is missing a front leg and would consequently be unable to walk...
🐺 If a child is born from one werewolf parent, they have a 50% chance of being it themselves; with two parents, the probabilily increases to 90%. It has been shown that humans children of werewolf parents can be healthy carriers, and they have an higher than average possibility to have werewolf children.
🐺 Werewolf-human relationships and marriages have never been outlawed but anti-human sentiments do exist, at least when the choice of a partner is concerned. In the event of a mixed couple, the percentage of human partners who are later turned is estimated to be around 65-75%. The turning of a partner is seen by many as an intimate moment, not rarely carried out during the wedding night, soon after the engagement or before trying to conceive, to maximise the probability of the children being werewolves themselves.
🐺 Being bitten by a werewolf in wolf form authomatically turns the subject into one, as long as the werewolf drinks even a small amount of their blood; if the biter is in human form, they will also have to feed their blood to the subject. Parents are often advised not to turn their children until they are adults or have at least reached puberty; turning someone without their consent is a grave crime, that a pack often decides to punish with death. A human who has been turned immediately shifts for the first time, and can have troubles turning back.
🐺 Werewolves are immune to Zoan-type Devil Fruits, and only those.
🐺 There is no specific werewolves religion or creed, but many werewolves ask for a natural burial (that is, without a coffin or another container that would prevent the body's contact with soil) because they appreciate the idea of their corpses returning to and nourishing the earth. In a distant past, the practice of ritual cannibalism was widespread; werewolves considered an honour to feed their packmates, especially during harsh winters when other sources of food were limited.
🐺 Werewolf hunters don't exist - anymore. Still, many of them agree that it's better to be safe than sorry, if only to avoid being captured and sold as slaves or forced to perform in freak-shows.
🐺 Mate is the name werewolves give to their destined partner, a person's one true love and other half; whether a human can be a werewolf's mate is a controversial issue. Most werewolves believe no greater love exists than the one between two mates, even if the relationship remains platonic and not everyone finds happiness in the bond; and that a werewolf who loses their mate will never love again. Most werewolves nowadays consider the matter of mates no more than a pretty story only romantic girls believe in; or at least, that is what they say.

Red-Haired Shanks headcanons
This is mainly based on the live action continuity, where nothing has (yet) been told about Shank's past. When I mention his old crew's captain and first mate, though, the manga/anime fans will know who i'm talking about...
*****
🧑🦰 He got his red hair from his mother, who was a dancer; she died when his child was four. Shanks still thinks he remembers the scarlet mane reaching down her hips, and how she danced in the house holding him in her arms, but since he was so young, he fears those images are more fantasies than memories.
🧑🦰 He was born in a tiny village in the East Blue, not unlike Foosha but located in the hinterland of the island. He ran away from home at seven to escape from a violent stepfather, walked a whole day to the nearest port, and hid on board of the first pirate ship he found. He was able to stay hidden for four days, stealing food from the galley and sleeping in the hold.
🧑🦰 Then, the first mate found him; they were already far from the coast and Shanks feared they would throw him overboard, as is common with stowaways, but the captain let him stay as a chore boy. The man never had to ever regret his decision, and Shanks became a full member of the crew on his fifteenth birthday.
🧑🦰 He never went to school. It was the first mate of his old crew who taught him to read, write and count, and then everything a sailor, and a future captain, had to know.
🧑🦰 Buggy and Shanks were the sort of friends who argue all the time but would always and in any case defend each other. Shanks was soon aware Buggy's feelings for him were shifting from deep but simple friendship towards something else; not reciprocating, and hating he was going to disappoint his friend and break his heart, Shanks decided the best thing he could do was put some distance between them, hoping Buggy's feelings would lessen and they could go back to being friends. Unfortunately they didn't, and Buggy had the impression his best friend had gotten tired of him and was now avoiding him; this broke his heart worse than any love disappointment ever could, and their friendship broke soon after.
🧑🦰 Shanks doesn't get embarrassed easily, but when he does, his whole body blushes, the redness spreading to his whole face, his chest and even his tummy. Hence his youth nickname, "The Lobster". Buggy was the one to give it to him, and he was the only one Shanks accepted hearing it from.
🧑🦰 He can wear earrings on both sides. He doesn't wear a piercing, but he also has a third hole, the result of a night of debauchery he barely remembers when he was twenty, on an intimate part of his anatomy, that no one in his crew has ever seen.
🧑🦰 As an adult, Shanks had to recognize he could have handed things better; when he tried to talk to Buggy, the other refused to listen, embarrassed and heart-broken at the thought his feelings had been (and still were) unreciprocated. He refused Shanks' offer to join his crew, which broke Shanks' heart; the two haven't spoken since Shanks and his men entered the Grand Line to look for the One Piece. Each of them still considers the other their best friend, but their relationship has soured forever.
🧑🦰 Shanks can't have children, because of an illness he had in his youth; his ship's doctor told him after a routine visit. He never particularly wanted to become a father, not to mention a pirate ship is not a safe place for a child, but sometimes, when he looked at Luffy, he couldn't help wondering, and fantasizing...
🧑🦰 He first met Mihawk in an inn; he was more than a little tipsy, and he got dared by his men to seduce him. Obviously it didn't work, but when Mihawk, annoyed, threatened to cut Shanks in half with Yoru if the other man didn't leave him alone, and Shanks didn't even bat an eye, the swordsman was intrigued... and secretely disappointed the other man had approached him on a dare.
🧑🦰 They both consider the other a good friend; the only difference is that Mihawk couldn't utter those words even under the threat of death... and he has so few friends the term good is relative.
🧑🦰 Shanks Is biromantic-demisexual. He finds it easier to sleep with men, but he has so few opportunities to meet and form an emotional bond with someone new, he hasn't had sex in ages and is fine with it. He occasionally masturbates and is so vocal he could be heard by the whole ship (which is something no one wants) if he didn't hide his face in his pillow.
🧑🦰 He has a surprisingly low tolerance for alcohol, with two being his limit most of the time. He is an happy drunk, the kind to sing, dance and kiss whoever is not quick enough to get away when under the influence; he feels horrible when hangover but recuperates quickly enough.
🧑🦰 He considers Benn his best friend together with Buggy, as well as the older brother he never had. When they were younger, one night Shanks got completely plastered, kissed him and clumsily tried to take him to bed. Benn sighed, carried Shanks to his cot and held his forehead while he puked into a bucket. They never spoke about it again, but Shanks was secretely relieved, and ashamed of what he had done even though Benn had already forgotten.
🧑🦰 His favourite food is meat - any kind, as long as Lucky Roux is the one cooking it.
🧑🦰 He likes to sing, especially with the rest of the crew. He couldn't carry a tune to save his life.
🧑🦰 Shanks has met Zeff twice.
🧑🦰 His amputation wound stopped hurting relatively quickly, but ten years later, occasionally Shanks feels as if he still has his arm, so much that he instinctively tries to use it to grab things or open a door. A couple of times he even tried to clap.
🧑🦰 He is not less strong, dangerous or capable than before losing his arm; rather he is even more so, because people who see him tend to underestimate him.
🧑🦰 He wears sandals and pants with elastic waistband because tying shoelaces and fastening buttons is hard when you only have one hand; nevertheless, occasionally he still wears button-up shirts... sometimes unfastened down to his navel.
🧑🦰 He killed his first man when he was twelve, to defend himself, and he was horrified. He has never killed a man without a good reason.
🧑🦰 Some say he loves Luffy because he sees himself in the boy; he doesn't. He loves Luffy (among other things) because he knows the child has the potential to surpass him.
🧑🦰 His dearest memory, besides the ones that concern Luffy and his mother, is about that time at sixteen he saw a mermaid jumping out of the water. Someone (including Buggy, who was jealous he had seen nothing) told him it had probably been a large fish or a seal, but the captain believed him.
🧑🦰 The worst moment of his life, even worse than the loss of his arm or his first kill, was the day he had to euthanize a man of his crew. The man had been wounded during a battle, the doctor had told Shanks he was beyond help but it could take him days to die. Shanks told the doctor to distract the patient, he pressed the barrel of his gun to the man's chest, and shot him in the heart. It was the only thing to do, many of his men told him, the most humane, the one his victim himself would have chosen, had he had the chance. It was also the only time in thirty-two years Shanks regretted having pursued his dream to become a pirate.
