mariah leaned back on the stone bench nestled among the vibrant flowers of the bellagio conservatory & botanical gardens, her fingers absently tracing the intricate patterns of her dress as her eyes scanning the vibrant floral displays and intricate decorations. the lush greens and colorful blooms seemed almost too perfect, a contrast to the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. she glanced at her phone for the umpteenth time, willing it to buzz with abril’s name, feeling the weight of her nerves pressing down on her. she had been rehearsing her words, trying to find the right way to say what was on her mind, but now that she was here, words seemed so much harder to comprehend.

she took a deep breath and smiled softly at the serene surroundings, hoping it would calm her racing thoughts. her heart felt heavy with a mix of hope and anxiety. she wasn’t sure what to expect from the meeting, but she hoped abril would sense that her apology was coming straight from the heart, after a lot of reflection. she didn’t know what a friendship with abril would be like since she never really got the chance before everything fell apart. she really wanted that; just a chance to get to know her. as she took in the lush display of nature, she found a little comfort in the thought that maybe, just maybe, this beautiful place could help mend things between them.

A Vegas Christmas!!!

After a three year hiatus we finally got back to Las Vegas! The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is always a highlight for Christmas decorations, they definitely know what they're doing :)

Managed a few snapshots in between the waves of tourists.

We were super happy to go back, but a tad disappointed as well. Would have been worse if it were our first trip. Turns out that while we had managed to avoid the F1, we didn't realize it would take them so long to dismantle all the bleachers etc. Unfortunately, the best Bellagio Fountain viewing spot was closed, the entire sidewalk was closed :( Also, last time we were there, The Park was all done up for Christmas, not this year. I'm blaming the F1. :)

Hoping we can get back to going often, although, might have to adjust our dates a bit to avoid the F1 stuff, looks like they signed a long term contract.

The new spring display, called "Tea & Tulips", is now open. Each part of the display was themed after four favorite tea varieties: rose hip, chamomile, ginger peach, and lavender.

Interestingly, each season, the extremely talented Horticulture and Engineering teams convert the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents, and colors. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter are all featured-along with a special display for Lunar New Year. In other words, when the seasons change so do the displays. Aside from that, the talented Conservatory team changes out the design and also replants and repurposes as much of the living plant material as possible, further celebrating Mother Nature and their commitment to sustainability.

CCSD adding police officers to middle schools

There are several thought-provoking news reports in Las Vegas, NV area these days. In a recent news article, police officers will begin moving into roles at Clark County School District middle school campuses. In the past, the district arranged just high schools with police officer resources. However, new safety improvements will assign officers to middle schools. Moreover, Channel 13 Anchor Reporter Abel Garcia talked with CCSD Police Lieutenant Bryan Zink about all the new safety measures in place for the 2023-2024 school year. CCSD has confirmed a new "middle school division" will be implemented. At present, plans include having three officers in three different regions of the county.
