do you know where are the the best places or mosteffective to donate to help palestinians atm? like charities ect
In terms of direct aid it is better to give money directly to families in Ghazza than to a charity. Charities, governmental and nongovernmental organisations &c., are seldom able to use funds to distribute aid right now, as few trucks are getting through, and none to the north of Ghazza.
ETA on Charities in Ghazza:
Taawon Association (in partnership with the Bank of Palestine) are distributing hot meals in Ghazza.
The World Food Programme (WFP) is getting food parcels into Ghazza, though I can't find them sharing a more specific location anywhere. Donate here.
The Palestinian Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) is providing medicine, food, and water. Their website specifically mentions food relief in north, central, and south Ghazza, and water delivered to north and south Ghazza.
Direct aid to Ghazza:
Money given directly to families in Ghazza is used to help them cross the Rafah crossing into Egypt, and/or to purchase plane tickets and apply for visas so they have somewhere to go after arriving in Egypt.
Help Christians in Ghazza get visas to leave
Help Hala Abu Ramadan's family of six leave Ghazza (organized by Mohammed Samhouri, vouched for by @psychoticgerard)
Help Dr. Intimaa AbuHelou's family of 22 leave Ghazza (organized by professer Steve Tamari)
Help Shayma and her family of 16 leave Ghazza (organised by Fardowsa. You may remember a link to a paypal going around to help Shayma; however, paypal has frozen those funds)
Help Shaymaa's family of 13 leave Ghazza (organised by Shaymaa herself, who is in Canada)
Help Sanaa and her family of 5 leave Ghazza and establish themselves in Belgium (organised by Eyad M, vouched for by Motaz Azaiza)
Help sisters Duaa and Deena leave Ghazza and get medical treatment in Cairo (organised by Shereen Alhayek, @.littlestpersimmon's friend's acquaintance)
Help Ahmed (@90-ghost) and his family leave Ghazza via ko-fi, paypal, or gofundme (@unionfish is offering stickers and prints in exchange for donations)
Help a family of Ghazzan refugees in Egypt get medical care and relocate
Buy an e-sim for use in Ghazza
Interruption of arms sent to Israel:
Palestine Action targets arms manufacturers in the US and UK
Palestine Legal offers legal defense for those who get arrested &c. in the course of protest or sabotage on behalf of Palestine
If you have some barrier to donating or to buying e-sims yourself (someone looking through your transactions, no room on your phone for new apps, don't want to mess up the instructions, don't have time to keep up with what's being called for at the moment, literally whatever), I can buy e-sims and move funds on your behalf. My venmo is @gothhabiba; paypal paypal.me/Najia; squarecash $NajiaK; DM me for Zelle information. Feel free to leave a note about where you want it to go (specifically for e-sims; aid to people in Ghazza; &c.)
BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanctions)
You asked specifically about donations, but if you haven't looked into the boycotts being called for by the Palestinian Campaign for Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) and the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), I urge you to do so.
BDS chapters in your locality may be calling for their own boycotts, so look into that as well. Think creatively about how to minimise purchase of boycotted goods (e.g., getting your union to refuse to shelve Israeli groceries).
Monday strikes
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has called for weekly strikes on Mondays. Talk to your union or coworkers about strikes or work stoppages on Mondays, if you can. At least avoid making any purchases (goods, recreation, entertainment, food, &c.) on Mondays.

So I'm British, and have been thinking for a while that I need to leave the UK someday because of the apparent war on trans people our government has, and having been on testosterone for a little over 6 months now the idea of losing access to it is world-altering. Many GPs are already refusing - it's just going to get worse for us here.
I was looking at trying to learn Dutch and move to Belgium one day, and this election result has really just pushed that thought of "its going to get worse, we need a backup plan", but I don't know if its the emotions of the election or the reality kicking in but I really, really don't think it's possible anymore.
Not to self diagnose, I don't know for certain, but I strongly suspect I have autism (and a big number of autistic peers have agreed), and I really, really cannot force myself to sit down and learn a language myself. There is not a chance in hell I can afford a tutor (I've checked, the best cheapest but still decent seeming tutor was £19 per hour, you'd realistically need 4x a month at minimum, that's £79. I genuinely cannot afford that extra outgoing.)
Past that, if I *was* able to crack down and learn Dutch, Brexit has basically made it impossible to move anyway. We've lost our right to free movement, I don't have a university degree because I went straight into the workforce. I'm not a skilled worker - I work in administration, currently reception-type and assist HR, but I'm not a *skilled* worker. So no foreign company would sponsor a work visa because why would they? They have their own workers for unskilled jobs.
It's basically just hit that I'm not getting out of here, and if it does get worse and our health care crumbles even more, my only option will be private (unless that gets banned) or DIY, and I'm honestly scared shitless of DIY because the idea of illegally possessing a controlled substance (testosterone) scares the crap out of me.
Not a bundle of joy at the minute, obviously my problems are far less than everyone that's going to be directly affected by this but I just wanted to vent a little and get it off my chest.
Be safe everyone

Delusions questions I had in the shower
Is Nicole piastri still known / keyboard warrior in this au like Oscar isn't her son but she is still proud of her name and genetics (I'm sorta seeing her as this loving wine aunt)
Lando technically would be 0% British... I imagine he has citizenship due to growing up in the uk but technicaly has 0 British blood. I'm just seeing the whole 'British drivers quiz' thingy they always love doing with the 2019 rookies and George just going 'technicaly I'm the onyl true brit here.'
On that point! Nando and Carlos only having 1 passport each and loosing the passport wars everytime. (lando got 3, Oscars got 2, lance also has 2) like each time travelling not in eu do they split up to go through customs or do they all drag their feet behind the pureblood spainiards.
Though saying that nando and lance might have spouce citizenships? Would nando get ausie visa easy cuase his son is ausie???
Anyway I'm just picturing the fans at every race pulling up wiki going 'is one of nandos lot got claim to this as a home race?' cuase you never fucking know. Spanish gp is probs chaos
Now this is the kinda deep lore shit I was talking about!!!!!!
First of all, I love Oscar's mum so definitely, she needs to be a part of the Nugget au. She probably shares very embarrassing childhood stories about the kids all the time and has like 17 million followers just for that 😭
Lando is British in his heart and I think he would get the British citizenship on his own at some point. But yeah, him not actually being a Brit would be so funny just to add more confusion ✨
Carlos and Nando always having to go through security checks at the airport while the rest of them have to wait... And it's not just because of the passports but also because Nando and Carlos would probably raise some suspicion with acting all unhinged and being way too loud 😭 I imagine Nando making some bad joke at border control and ending up being interrogated for 7 hours 💀
Half the season is just their home races.... Belgium, UK, Australia, Spain, Canada... They dub it The Alonso World Tour (Fernantour???) and there's a separate scoreboard for their races 💁💁 Winner gets to pick the next family holiday location
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two would definitely climb the security railing and get arrested ☝️

I’m planning a visit to Switzerland this year, but the only downside for a royalist like me is that there is no monarchy😄 As a student I will have to keep a tight budget, and I live half the world away from Europe so travel costs will be high getting there, which means I don’t think trips to Belgium or the Netherlands will be feasible (or the UK, but that requires a separate visa anyway so it’s out for me). So then I thought about Liechtenstein!! Very close to Zürich, on the Swiss transport and currency system so all good, but the only problem is that I can’t find out much about the royal family there itself. The castle in the capital is their private family home, so not open to the public (though you can walk up to see near the outside), and I couldn’t find any details on public appearances, and apparently they’re quite private, so not much is known about them in general. Do you (or anyone on here) know more about their public roles? Do they have engagements, or annual functions (something in the vein of Trooping) that I can make a point of seeing? I know the country is tiny, but surely they have some sort of public-facing role as the royal family? Any sort of insight/advice is appreciated!!
Ooh that sounds exciting. I'm not very sure about Liechtenstein like all the specifics you can do but I don't think there would be a ton to do if you are planning to a longer trip however since you are thinking about Switzerland, there are planned day trips to Vaduz and the nearby areas from Zurich, more information should be available on them online. Also while you can't visit the castle but you can have trips around the castle and of Vaduz. Ooooh and every year the Royal Family has a garden party for the public at Vaduz Castle, on their National Day. That's attended by all the royals. You can look for dates to visit coinciding with that if you want to attend it. It's on August 15. Unfortunately that's where my knowledge of Royal events at Liechtenstein ends however if someone else knows better, maybe they can elaborate.

China’s list of visa-free countries expanded
China’s visa-free travel list continues to grow, with five more European countries added to the list.
Citizens of Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Slovakia and Finland have been granted visa-free entry to the Asian country.
Tourists from these countries as well as South Korea will be able to enter China without visas from November 8, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
This comes after the addition of Norway was announced in September and Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Greece, Portugal and Slovenia in October. This brings the total number of European countries granted visa-free access to 24. In July, travellers from Poland, Australia and New Zealand were also granted unrestricted entry to China until the end of 2025.
The scheme was announced in phases from the beginning of 2024, and various European countries and Malaysia have also been granted visa-free access. The programme aims to attract more people to China for business and tourism purposes, and to promote exchanges between Chinese citizens and foreigners.
The full list of European countries now includes Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland. Tourists from these countries will be allowed to enter China for short stays without a visa until the end of next year.
The aim is to “promote the qualitative development of exchanges between Chinese and foreign personnel and open up the outside world at a high level,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a briefing on the initial announcement in November. Under the trial programme, visa-free entry will be granted for up to 15 days.
China’s international travel recovery continues
According to statistics, the country recorded 35.5 million foreign tourists in 2023, up from 97.7 million before the pandemic. Experts estimate that in the three years that the country was closed to the outside world due to the pandemic, the loss of revenue due to the lack of tourists totalled $362bn.The target for 2024 is to reach a level of 50 per cent of total entry in 2019.
Europe is recovering faster than some other markets, according to travel websites. Trip.com statistics show that growth in total bookings from Europe to China is up more than 6 times in 2023 compared to 2022 and almost 29% compared to 2019. Germany and the UK are in the top 10 most active inbound markets. Shanghai remains China’s most popular destination for Europeans, followed by Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Encouraging entry works. According to Trip.com, the most recent holiday – the Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, which starts at the end of January and lasts officially 15 days but actually a whole month – saw twice as many tourists from the named 11 European countries travelling to China as in 2019.
China is also doing a lot to facilitate payments, infrastructure development. But according to experts, while the country has made significant strides in developing advanced technology and transport infrastructure for domestic travel, foreign tourists often face problems travelling around the country. For example, to book seats on high-speed trains or museum tickets, it is necessary to use the local WeChat service.
Many establishments accept WeChat Pay or AliPay exclusively, putting foreign travellers in a difficult position if they rely solely on cash or credit cards. And many hotels in China are not allowed to accept foreign travellers at all.

Belgium: A Weave of Culture and History for UK Travellers
Tumblr media
Belgium, with its medieval towns, art and food, is the perfect destination for UK travellers. This small but interesting country has a mix of influences that have created a culture all of its own. For UK travellers looking for a quick European break, Belgium has a cultural life, historical landmarks and charming towns just a short hop away. If you’re thinking of Belgium, here’s what to expect and how to get a Belgium Visa for a hassle free trip.
Belgium’s Cultural Heritage
Belgium is a cultural patchwork of French, Dutch and German influences, you’ll see it in its cities, food, art and even in everyday conversations. No wonder UK travellers look for a mix of medieval history, art and a food scene to rival any European country. From world famous chocolate to festivals celebrating the arts, Belgium is a destination that will charm anyone. With a Belgium Visa in your pocket you can dive into all this cultural goodness.
Historical Wonders of Belgium: Step Back in Time
Belgium’s cities are an architectural treat, with cobbled streets, Gothic cathedrals and Renaissance architecture. Brussels, the capital, has the Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The ornate guild houses and Town Hall make it a great backdrop for festivals and events.
In Bruges you’ll find another UNESCO site famous for its canals and medieval architecture. Often called the “Venice of the North”, Bruges will transport you back to the 14th century. The canals, Belfry Tower and Basilica of the Holy Blood are a must see. Belgium Visa holders from the UK can also visit Ghent, a university town with impressive medieval architecture and a lively arts scene or Antwerp, a bustling port city famous for its diamond district and fashion industry.
A Sensory Feast: Belgian Food
Belgium is a foodie’s paradise and the food is so much more than just waffles and chocolate. The waffle is a classic that comes in many forms, often topped with whipped cream, fruit or chocolate. And speaking of chocolate, Belgian chocolatiers are world famous and Brussels and Bruges have hundreds of artisanal shops to discover.
If you like a big meal, Belgian food also includes rich stews, mussels with fries and Carbonnade Flamande, a beef stew made with Belgian beer. Beer is a huge part of Belgian culture with over 1,500 types produced in the country. Many beers have unique flavours and brewing methods that date back centuries. For UK tourists, exploring Belgium’s food scene is a must and an Online Belgium Visa means you can start planning your foodie adventure now.
Belgium is an Artistic Hotbed: Creativity and Innovation
Belgium has been an artistic hub for centuries and has a treasure trove of cultural experiences for art lovers. The country was home to Flemish masters like Peter Paul Rubens, Jan van Eyck and René Magritte whose works can be seen in museums and galleries. The Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels has an impressive collection from classical to modern art that gives a glimpse into Belgium’s artistic heritage.
Street art is also big in Belgium, especially in cities like Brussels and Ghent where you’ll find entire neighbourhoods covered in murals and graffiti by international and local artists. Comics are also an art form in Belgium where The Adventures of Tintin was born. Fans can follow the Brussels Comic Book Route, an outdoor series of murals of Belgian comic book characters.
Belgium’s Festivals: Celebrations All Year
Belgium’s cultural life is celebrated through its festivals which are held all year round and cover music, arts and folklore. One of the most famous is the Tomorrowland festival, a global electronic music event in Boom, Belgium. For those interested in traditional culture the Ommegang Festival in Brussels re-enacts a historical procession from the 16th century with costumes, horses and performances.
The Gentse Feesten in Ghent in July is one of Europe’s biggest cultural festivals and includes music, theatre and street performances that transform the city’s medieval centre. These festivals are a great opportunity for UK tourists to experience Belgium’s culture live.
Practical Tips for UK Citizens: How to Get Your Belgium Visa
So you want to experience Belgium’s culture? First things first, get your Belgium Visa. The process is easy for UK residents. Book a Belgium Visa Appointment UK at the Belgium Visa Manchester or Belgium Visa London application centre. Or if you prefer to do things from the comfort of your own home, apply for an Online Belgium Visa.
You will need to provide documents such as proof of accommodation, travel insurance and a valid passport. With a Belgium Visa from the UK you will have access to the Schengen Area and be able to travel to France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Belgium One City at a Time
Once you have your visa, plan to spend a few days in each of Belgium’s main cities to get a feel for the country’s culture. Brussels is the obvious first stop, with its historic sites and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Then head to Bruges for a more laid back, more intimate experience of medieval Belgium. Ghent is for students and has a lively atmosphere, art and music. Antwerp is for fashion, shopping and modern art.
Whether you’re meandering along Bruges’ canals or trying the latest beer at a brewery in Brussels, Belgium is a place to discover. The country may be small but the culture is big, so perfect for UK residents who want to experience Europe and its history.
