Behaviour Disorders In Children In Ghaziabad
Behaviour Disorders In Children In Ghaziabad
Tumblr media
Ghaziabad, a bustling city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, has witnessed significant growth and development in recent years. However, amidst the progress, there exists a pressing concern that often goes unnoticed – behavior disorders. These disorders can have a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities, necessitating a closer examination of the issue and the development of effective strategies for intervention and support.
Defining Behavior Disorders:
Behavior disorders encompass a range of conditions characterized by persistent patterns of behaviors that deviate from societal norms. These disorders can manifest in various forms, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and more. The prevalence of these disorders in Ghaziabad has been on the rise, prompting a need for increased awareness and understanding.
Factors Contributing to Behavior Disorders:
Several factors contribute to the development of behaviour disorders in Ghaziabad. Socioeconomic factors, family dynamics, educational challenges, and environmental stressors can all play a role. Limited access to mental health resources and stigma surrounding mental health issues further exacerbate the problem. Recognizing and addressing these contributing factors are crucial steps in creating a more supportive environment for individuals affected by behavior disorders.
Impact on Individuals and Society:
Behavior disorders can have a profound impact on individuals, affecting their academic performance, interpersonal relationships, and overall well-being. In a society that places a significant emphasis on academic success, individuals with behavior disorders may face challenges in meeting societal expectations. Additionally, untreated behavior disorders can lead to long-term consequences, including an increased risk of substance abuse, legal issues, and difficulties in maintaining stable employment.
The Role of Educational Institutions:
Educational institutions play a crucial role in identifying and addressing behavior disorders in Ghaziabad. Teachers and school staff need training to recognize early signs of behavior disorders and provide appropriate support. Creating inclusive and supportive learning environments can make a significant difference in the lives of students struggling with these challenges.Community Support and Resources:
Community support is essential for addressing behavior disorders in Ghaziabad needs to establish and promote mental health awareness campaigns to reduce the stigma associated with seeking help. Additionally, increased access to mental health resources, including counseling services and support groups, can contribute to the overall well-being of individuals with behavior disorders and their families.Parental Involvement and Guidance:
Parents play a vital role in the development and well-being of their children. In Ghaziabad, fostering parental involvement is crucial in addressing behavior disorders. Providing parenting workshops and support groups can empower parents with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges associated with raising a child with a behavior disorder.Government Initiatives and Policies:
Government involvement is critical in addressing behavior disorders on a larger scale. Ghaziabad should prioritize the development and implementation of policies that focus on mental health awareness, accessibility to mental health services, and the inclusion of mental health education in school curricula. Collaborations between government agencies, educational institutions, and mental health organizations can create a comprehensive approach to tackling behavior disorders. Conclusion:
Addressing behavior disorders in Ghaziabad requires a multi-faceted approach that involves the collaboration of various stakeholders, including educational institutions, communities, parents, and the government. By fostering awareness, reducing stigma, and providing adequate support and resources, Ghaziabad can create an environment where individuals with behavior disorders can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. The journey towards a more inclusive and supportive community begins with understanding, empathy, and a commitment to mental health advocacy.

How Pediatric Behavioral Therapists Can Make a Difference
In today's fast-paced world, the challenges of parenting have taken on new dimensions. Many children and adolescents are grappling with behavioral issues that can be a source of frustration and concern for parents. Fortunately, the role of pediatric behavioural therapists in hafeezpet is becoming increasingly recognized as a vital support system for children and their families.
Understanding Behavioral Issues in Children
Behavioral issues in children can manifest in various ways, such as aggression, defiance, temper tantrums, or difficulties in social interactions. These problems can be a source of stress for parents, teachers, and the children themselves. Pediatric behavioral therapists are specially trained to identify the root causes of these issues and develop effective strategies for managing and improving behavior.
The Role of Pediatric Behavioral Therapists: Pediatric behavioural therapists in kondapur are highly skilled professionals who focus on the assessment and treatment of behavioral disorders in children. They work closely with children and their families to create customized treatment plans that are tailored to the child's unique needs. Their approach is child-centered, emphasizing positive reinforcement and evidence-based interventions to address behavioral problems.
Behavioral therapists for kids are experts in using various therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-Behavioral therapy for young children in kondapur, applied behavior analysis (ABA), play therapy, and parent training. These techniques are designed to help children learn new, more adaptive behaviors while reducing maladaptive ones.
Addressing Behavioral Disorders in Children
Behavioral disorders in children, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder , oppositional defiant disorder, or autism spectrum disorder, require specialized intervention. Pediatric behavioral therapists are well-versed in these disorders and can provide the necessary support for children and their families.
For instance, in the case of ADHD, pediatric behavioral therapists can help children develop executive function skills, self-regulation, and organization, which are often impaired in children with this disorder. For children with ODD, therapists can work on strategies to reduce oppositional behavior and improve cooperation. For children on the autism spectrum, therapists use strategies to enhance social and communication skills.
Pediatric behavioral therapists don't just focus on the child; they also consider the broader family context. They provide guidance and support to parents and caregivers, helping them understand the underlying causes of their child's behavioral issues and equipping them with effective tools to manage and improve their child's behavior.
Pediatric behavioral therapists play a crucial role in addressing behavioral issues and disorders in children. By providing specialized, evidence-based interventions, they empower children to develop healthier behaviors, improve their social skills, and enhance their overall quality of life. Parents and caregivers who seek the assistance of pediatric behavioral issues in children in Hyderabad often find themselves equipped with a newfound sense of hope and support on their journey towards unlocking their child's full potential.

Accuracy for you heavily depends on house & sign.
Mars Trine Neptune.

- Deeply value the opinion of authority (Parents, teachers, etc).
- Tough on themselves. Feel they need to work harder. Feeling the need to earn things. Feeling you haven’t done enough. Feeling you aren’t enough.
- Strong boundaries. You may have high standards and strict “rules” for people in your life especially romantic partners. Will not just accept anybody.
- And one thing I’ve noticed is whether it be saturn trine asc or saturn square asc, these people end up in positions where their partners have to “earn” them. Ex: making yourself difficult to schedule dates with. Making their potential partner prove interest and intent in some kind of way. Partners have to chase you to an extent.
- Also, I’ve seen this as dad disapproving of partner. Partner had to gradually work to bond with the dad. Ex: Helping him at the house, Initiating conversation with him every visit, Telling the dad his future plans and how they involve his daughter, etc. Saturn Asc people’s partners really WORK to prove themselves.
Accuracy heavily influenced by houses and signs.
Mars Aspect Jupiter
- Strong sense of faith. Strong sense of optimism. Strong sense of doing the right thing. Could manifest as being self righteous.
- Jupiter strengthens mars. This creates a strong drive, need for passion and action.
- Ex: Let’s say mars is in scorpio: You will truly never forget people from the past. Strong memory. Grudge holder for sure.
- If in a fire sign, very quick to anger. On the bright side, very funny. Quick thinking. But similar to Scorpio mars, will not forgive easily. An abundance of anger.

Accuracy heavily influenced houses and sign.

- Ex.2: Ik a gemini rising with mercury conjunct mars who had plastic surgery done. Mercury rules their body. Mars is “cutting”.
Accuracy heavily influenced by houses and signs.
Sun Aspects Neptune.
- Mysterious. People can’t figure you out 100%. You don’t fit into one specific label or box. Private person especially if you have scorpio placements.
- You don’t try to be a mystery. You are naturally withdrawn. Quiet but not shy person.
- Difficulty expressing oneself. Looking for escape to cope. Driving around aimlessly. Focusing on education and career over personal matters. Or depending on entire chart, substance abuse issues.

Okay so hear me out...
Both the Touden siblings are autistic. That's not too controversial a take. Senshi is also autistic, also not too hot a take. Kabru is autistic and very good at masking in social situations, and Izutsumi may have some issues (difficulties with interpersonal relationships, distorted sence of self, intense emotional responses, eating disorders, risky behaviours) or she could just be a cat and a teenager. My interest here is Marcille... I think Marcille might have ADHD, and it's not just her fussy eating and persistent absent mindedness, it's that combined with her balance.
Tests on wii balance boards, of all things, showed that people with ADHD have consistently worse balance than a control group, and that children with ADHD have significantly more mild accidents due to poor coordination. You even see this in some adults with the "ADHD walk" where they instinctively sway or lean around objects in an exaggerated way as they have internalised a fear of hitting them as they walk... and tallman Chilchuck complains during the Changling arch that Marcille is still clumsy as a half-foot, to a degree that suprises Chilchuck. Add that to some difficulty making decisions despite being very academicly gifted and her occasional executive function failures, and I think ADHD isn't an unreasonable leap.
Interestingly Chilchuck's anxiety was cured when he became a tall man, suggesting that this is an inherent trait of half-foots and not a condition unique to him, so he might be neurotypical for a half-foot, and half foots might just be naturally more risk adverce and neurotic than the other races. He's litteraly the token neurotypical friend in the group, which might explain his long-suffering attitude towards the others.
Or I'm so desperate for good ADHD representation that I'm projecting.
Edit: Following education I have removed references to BPS as it's not my area of experience and Izutsumi does not match the diagnosis criteria.

this is probably shaped by my limited frame of reference, but im really fascinated by witnessing the real-time development of adhd as a diagnosis. people attribute so many symptoms to it now or maybe they always did? i was wondering if you have any thoughts on what is the use of adhd specifically as a category within psychiatry. I'm esl so sorry for any confusing wording
no you're right imo; diagnostic categories are always somewhat in flux ofc but ADHD is one that has seen a particularly pronounced shift in the last couple decades. obviously this is multifactorial but my observation goes something along these lines:
'hyperactivity' has been dx'd in children since about the 1950s (also when Ritalin hit the market) but the ADHD dx doesn't really take off until the 90s (also when Adderall, a 2nd-gen reformulation of the 'obesity' drug Obetrol, hit the market). so, it's not all that surprising that 20 years later you see increased patient awareness of the diagnosis, increased popular interest in it, and shifting / expanding ideas of what it means and what ADHD 'is'. it's a relatively young dx.
part of the reason it's young is because it's basically a 'biopsychiatric' dx, meaning it diagnoses certain behaviours as being a 'brain problem' rather than having social causes or context. in practice this is complicated because psychs do use pharmacological approaches in conjunction with psychodynamic ones all the time; nevertheless, the central promise of DSM ADHD and its pharmaceutical treatments has consistently been that the ADHD subject has a physiological, neurological disorder / dysfunction / aberration, and that the drug treatments on the market fix it. that none of this is actually empirically supported is conceptually inconvenient and entrenched by the research process.
the biopsychiatric narrative is worth paying attention to because the context here is one in which it has become commonly accepted that behavioural 'disorders' and affective distress of various kinds can be, basically, either of pure biological origin, or else Your Fault. in the case of childhood hyperactivity, Your Fault historically also included Your Mother's Fault; part of the reason many mothers embraced Ritalin in the 50s and 60s was because the proffered pharmaceutical narrative explicitly challenged the idea that these mothers had done something 'wrong' to result in their (mostly) sons exhibiting disruptive and hyperactive behaviour.
this dichotomy of biology vs personal failing is very overtly present in quite a bit of discourse around ADHD today. if it's my brain being 'wrong' or different, then it's not something I've done wrong but a disease with a simple chemical fix. in this context I don't think it's surprising at all that a lot of popular and patient conceptions of ADHD have seen a considerable widening over the past few decades. often people like to blame this on pharmaceutical companies, and it's true that industry benefits from these discourses and frequently invests in them (eg, via instruments like ADDitude mag). however, that's a pretty simplistic explanation on its own and doesn't really account for the ways in which patients and potential patients also find this diagnostic category personally useful, for reasons ranging from identity-formation to the desire to access prescription amphetamines. ADHD increasingly shows up as a biologised explanation for behaviours ranging from 'eating too many sweets' to 'postural sway' and so on. you can see in such examples how invoking the idea of an aberrant ADHD brain is both reassuring to people who have been made to feel ashamed of certain behaviours, and provides a sense of shared identity and community with others.
all of this is to say: I don't find it surprising at all when I see a relative broadening of notions of ADHD, almost always expressed in biological terms (the 'ADHD brain' operates differently, 'seeks dopamine', causes this or that). ADHD is in some ways a particularly blatant distillation of this general trend in popular psychiatric discourses, for reasons relating to expectations about childhood and child behaviour, and the historical and present relationship between the ADHD label and the regulation of amphetamines. but much of what's happening with ADHD in terms of popular discourses about it can also be seen with many, many other psychiatric diagnoses, to varying extents and in various ways.
my experience writing about ADHD on this website leads me to close by explicitly stating the following: I do not think any ADHD behaviours / symptoms are people's 'fault' or an individual failing; I do not think using drugs for any reason is morally bad or needs to be justified; the fact that I do not think ADHD is a 'brain disease' does not mean I think people are 'making it up' or exaggerating wrt any difficulties they experience personally, professionally, emotionally, &c.

thnk u @air--so--sweet for pointing out the tua prop auction, i am obssessed so ofc im now writing up my own transcripts for stuff. i bet someone else has done this but i couldnt find it so here's my record of it:
this is from Reginald's red book in s1 (i presume the dates are written day/month/year as Reginald is english)
transcript:
"#00.01 Behaviour Part 4 -When given opportunity, he acts in accordance to my expectations, and to my instruction, and only to my expectation and instructions. Further experiments needed to figure out the extent of his blind loyalty. -Unknowable at this time if this productive for the cause or detrimental for the cause. 4/03/01 Conducted experiment in which I sent #00.01 to this woods to watch for threats. Not only did he not ask about said threats, he found ways to come up with his own possible threats. He stood watch in a weak, slight base camp from dawn until dusk, without asking if he should stay on overnight. He is still there. -Is it truly best to have the best follower be the leader??"
Tumblr media
transcript:
"5/09/01 Another experiment conducted in which I gave #00.01 an unknowable mission, but this time had him try to lead the team in his cause. I instructed #00.01 to take the team and patrol the state beach. Up and down. Until the threat revealed itself. Within hours all members had referred to pursue mission on such little intel. #00.01 never stopped. Even after the pleading from #00.03. Whom usually shows an emotional weakness for. #00.03 Abilities Part 3 -Makes one wonder if she is all the Umbrella Academy really needs. -Her full potential makes the rest of the team look like an afterthought. -How can I convince her the team needs her? Confounded at not being able to capture a non-existent opponent flag. Their petty feud seems to know no bounds. But if the feud motivates #00.02 in a way to suceed in that types of scale, so be it. Work-load Capacity Ranking 1-#00.05 (negated by disregard for rules and safety) 2-#00.01 (enhanced by propensity to protect siblings) 3-#00.03 (strength in collaboration) 4-#00.06 (follower) 5-#00.04 (untapped and unfocused potential) 6-#00.02 (could be 1st or 6th depending on mood) Discipline Notes -Physical pain yields best results with males. -Emotional trauma yields best results with #00.03 and Klaus. Especially when inflicted on others. -Separation from group does not work on #00.02."
Tumblr media
transcript:
"-Sensory Statistics -Visual - 21.4% -Auditory - 8.7% -Kinesthetic - 69.9% -Disorders -Likely tendency toward Oppositional Disorder (ODD) -Maternal family history of possible sociopathy (seems incongruent to dynamics with Seven; background research ongoing ref p.49) -Phobias -Darkness -Solitude -Binds Effective Behaviours Modification Techniques"
edit 03/07/2024: spelling corrections 😬
my thoughts beneath the cut:
Pic 1
interesting that Reginald seems more interested in Luther's psychology, and whether it's a mistake for him to be the leader due to his blind loyalty and strict adherence to instruction (to me, Luther reads as somewhat autistic here, following rules to the letter, but this could also be a result of childhood abuse).
Reginald's interest in Luther's blind loyalty, and experimenting on him to test where or if he has a limit on said loyalty, is very similar to the moon mission. Reginald said there was a purpose to it in s3, but maybe the purpose was testing the extent of Luther's loyalty. Maybe he was waiting to see at what point would Luther actually start to ask his father questions, or make requests of him or even outright defy him. We know Luther had started asking for more food, but maybe Reginald was pushing him further, to see at what point he'd ask to come home.
Since Reginald didn't send any of the Sparrows to the Moon it would seem like Luther's moon mission was unneccessary, but to Reginald there was nothing more important than training the children. Since Reginald seems to doubt whether having a Follower be a Leader, maybe he was trying to force Luther into a position that would help him learn how to use his own initiative?
Pic 2
this one is a gold mine.
Luther once again cannot not follow instruction or leave his work unfinished, but he's also considered to be very protective of his siblings by Reginald (which is a good thing in Reginald's books).
Allison is desperate for him to stop, but also seems like she has self-worth or anxiety issues that Reginald is unable to cure her of, likely related to her feeling like people would hate her if they knew the real her.
Diego's feud with Luther over being no.1 wasn't intentional on Reginald's side, but he didn't discourage it either as he felt it motivated Diego. Which is probably related to the fact that Diego doesn't seem to work well without the group. He also says Diego could be no.1 if he sorted out his emotions, but he ranks him in last.
Five is marked top of the group, above even Luther, but he's too opposed to rules and safety in Reginald's eyes.
Ben seems to be keeping quiet and doing as he's told, which also seems to be a good thing to Reginald.
also interesting that Klaus is referred to by name not number, and is grouped with Allison rather than with the "males".
I don't think "physical pain" refers to torture or corporal punishment, but perhaps exhaustion or intense physical regimines? Mostly because Reginald seems extremely hands off with the kids.
Pic 3
It doesn't say who this entry is about but "Oppositional Disorder" and "sociopathy" seems most consistent with Five. and now that we know his mother was a butcher, she seems the most likely candidate to have been thought a sociopath.
(edit: Although, Klaus is also suggested to have ODD in S3, this doesn't seem consistent with the earlier entry mentioning he is more receptive to emotional pain and pain inflicted on others, than to physical pain inflicted to himself. Plus, Rachel seems very emotionally intelligent, and this entry points out a positive relationship with Viktor which has always been more Five's thing)
I don't agree with the sociopath diagnosis, but it seems Reginald is hestitant to diagnose it in the first place since he notes that Five has a good relationship with Viktor, probably meaning he's not devoid of empathy.
the Phobias is also interesting. Darkness, Solitude and Binds all suggest he was forced into similar situations as Klaus and Viktor, where he had to use his powers to escape cramped conditions. the fact that he notes Solitude is one of his phobias is also v sad all things considered. plus the fact that Five is the only Brelly to sleep on a separate floor to the other 6 siblings - maybe this was Reginald's attempt to cure him of this phobia?

how to write characters with muteness/mutism? (i hope i'm using the right words)
Both words may be used :) Mutism seems to be the more frequently used term in research and clinical settings.
Character Development: Mutism
Mutism - an inability or unwillingness to speak, resulting in an absence or marked paucity of verbal output
It is a common clinical symptom seen in psychiatric as well as neurology outpatient department
It rarely presents as an isolated disability and often occurs in association with other disturbances in behavior, thought processes, affect, or level of consciousness
The condition may also be voluntary, as in monastic vows of silence or the decision to speak only to selected individuals
Mutism occurs in a number of conditions, both functional and organic, and a proper diagnosis is important for the management
To write your character with mutism, you may want to begin with their backstory. Below are some types of mutism you could consider.
Types of Mutism
Selective mutism - having the ability to speak but feeling unable to, often because of social anxiety and debilitating shyness
Organic mutism - caused by brain injury, such as with drug use or after a stroke
Cerebellar mutism - caused by the removal of a brain tumor from a part of the skull surrounding the cerebellum, which controls coordination and balance
Aphasia - occurs when people find it difficult to speak because of stroke, brain tumor, or head injury
Additional definition: Selective mutism is characterized by a consistent failure to speak in social situations in which there is an expectation to speak (e.g., school) even though the individual speaks in other situations. The failure to speak has significant consequences on achievement in academic or occupational settings or otherwise interferes with normal social communication.
After determining the possible type/s and/or causes of your character's mutism, below are some characteristics and behaviours. Choose which ones are appropriate for your character. Also determine the frequency and the degree in which these occur.
Some Characteristics of People with Mutism
Social anxiety or shyness outside of the home
Silence that interferes with work or school
Mutism that can't be explained by trouble with language skills
Having experienced trauma
Suddenly becoming silent after speaking regularly
For organic or cerebellar mutism, not being able to speak despite wanting to
For aphasia, mutism can come with difficulty reading, telling time, understanding numbers, and writing
Being silent in social situations outside of the home
Paralyzing anxiety
Using nonverbal communication when spoken to
Asking others to speak for them
Interruptions in daily well-being because of mutism
Is caused by intense anxiety or social phobia
The symptoms interfere with school or work
Difficulty connecting
For Selective Mutism:
Ability to speak at home with family or people they are comfortable with
Fear or anxiety around people they do not know well
Inability to speak in certain social situations
Shyness
This pattern must be seen for at least 1 month to be called selective mutism. (The first month of school does not count, because shyness is common during this period.)
Note: In selective mutism, the child can understand and speak, but is unable to speak in certain settings or environments. Children with mutism never speak. Selective mutism falls under the "Anxiety Disorders" category.
Sample Case Report from this article
A 35-year-old married male was brought by police personnel with chief complaints of not speaking for the last 3 months. The patient had been under trial for the last 6 months for the alleged charge of setting fire in a cowshed. He would not interact with any of the jail inmates. He would however ask for food by non-verbal communication/gestures and would perform all his daily chores normally as reported. He was asked to follow up with family members. History reviewed from wife and elder brother reveled history of 18 years history characterized by violent abusive behavior, wandering behavior, irritability, decreased sleep, restlessness, muttering to self, and at times reporting that other would harm him, associated with withdrawn behavior and socio-occupational dysfunction. On one occasion, he became mute also and did not talk for a period of around 4 months associated with sadness of mood and decreased interest in surroundings. 6 months back, he had symptoms of muttering to self, would often roam about naked and get irritable on minor issues. No other significant history was obtained. MSE revealed decreased PMA, rapport not established, eye to eye contact could not be maintained, he was mute and would communicate nonverbally appropriately. His affect was blank with no facial expressions. All his routine investigations were within normal limits. A diagnosis of schizophrenia was entertained, and he was started on risperidone 6 mg per day and lorazepam 4 mg per day. Gradually the patient started showing improvement in symptoms.

In response to the truly appalling murder of three little girls and the attempted murder of several other children in Southport by a 17 year old last week, it didn't take long at all for racist arseholes on social media to spread total bollocks about the attacker being an immigrant and Muslim (he was born in Wales and is from a deeply religious Christian family and was a choir boy as it turns out).
Naturally, this whipped the brain dead who believe that some sort of secret Muslim takeover of the country is occurring into a violent frenzy, and there have been riots and "protests" outside mosques up and down the country, led by the charming individuals of the EDL, one just half an hour away from where I live.
To be clear, these people don't actually give a flying fuck about these children or their families or their traumatised community. Like all extremists, they use real human suffering as an excuse to behave in the most abhorrently violent manner against innocent people.
The EDL, for my non UK friends, is an extremist Islamophobic, white supremacist organisation and there has been talks at the highest level of government to officially proscribe it as a terrorist group:
There is light in the dark though. After the riot in Southport, the local community came together to repair damage to the local mosque.
Violent extremists will never represent or care about the communities they purport to. As it always is, it is ordinary people coming together in solidarity and with love that represent the best of what we can be and the festering pustules of the EDL give a shit about nothing and no one but their hatred.
Editing to include a link to a fundraiser for the families of the children and the community in Southport:

1,750 children had been killed in the 16 days of bombardment by Israeli forces since Hamas’s murderous onslaught on 7 October. That is an average of almost 110 children a day. Thousands more have been injured. The psychological impact of the war on children was showing, said Fadel Abu Heen, a psychiatrist in Gaza. Children had “started to develop serious trauma symptoms such as convulsions, bed-wetting, fear, aggressive behaviour, nervousness, and not leaving their parents’ sides.” The “lack of any safe place has created a general sense of fear and horror among the entire population and children are most impacted,” he said. “Some of them reacted directly and expressed their fears. Although they may need immediate intervention, they may be in a better state than the other kids who kept the horror and trauma inside them.” About half of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are children. Since 7 October, they have lived under near constant bombardment, with many packed into temporary shelters in UN-run schools after fleeing their homes with little access to food or clean water.
[...]
In Gaza, a child aged 15 has experienced five periods of intense bombardment in their life: 2008-9, 2012, 2014, 2021 and now 2023. Studies conducted after earlier conflicts have shown a majority of children in Gaza exhibiting symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After Operation Pillar of Defence in 2012, Unicef, the UN children’s agency, found that 82% of children were either continuously or usually in fear of imminent death. Among Unicef’s other findings were: 91% of children reported sleeping disturbances during the conflict; 94% said they slept with their parents; 85% reported appetite changes; 82% felt angry; 97% felt insecure; 38% felt guilty; 47% were biting their nails; 76% reported itching or feeling ill.

You sit with Harper and Avery on the floor and roll a car around the track. Most nights you end up like this. Sometimes you feel like a child too.
You’ve offered to help Ann clean up after dinner but she says you’re much more help keeping an eye on the children. Steve’s usually up in his office or in the kitchen with her. That night, it’s the latter. You can hear their voices in a low murmur but there words are hidden behind the childrens’ squeals and arguing.
“Watch this!” Avery sends a car flying up the track and it bounces on the wall.
“Woah, don’t do that,” you get up to retrieve it and check for a dent. “You could hit someone.”
“So? It's fun,” she argues.
You just shrug. Even with them, you can’t really argue. They’re not your kids.
As you lower yourself back to your knees, a figure appears in the archway. You glance over as Ann smiles and rests a hand on her hip. You set the car back on the track.
“Kids, it’s bath time. Your dad’s turn tonight.”
“I don’t want a bath,” Harper whines.
“Well, honey, you need one, so go before Daddy comes down to get you,” she tuts.
The children groan in disappointment but get up. She points them around her and up the stairs. She goes to watch their ascent and you work at collecting the cars and dump them into the plastic bucket. Ann returns as you take down the track.
“You are so good with them, sweetie,” she praises. “And they love you.”
You nod as you focus on your task, “thanks.”
Your skin buzzes in dread. You know how the night will end. Like any other. It’s been almost a month and the routines clear. You never go to bed alone.
“Can you do me a favour?” She asks and you drop the last piece of track into the bucket. You stop and look at her.
“Sure, uh, what?”
She smiles again, “it’s hard to explain. Come with me.”
You try not to show your discomfort. You get up and cross the room. She stops you and cradles your face between her hands. She presses her lips to yours.
“Don’t worry, we’re just making sure you’re doing okay,” she drops her hand and grabs yours.
She takes you through the half-bath on the first floor. It’s cramped with both of you inside. You’re confused. She shuts the door and you twiddle your fingers. As she opens the cabinet, heat crawls up your neck.
“Ann, I... what’s--”
“Don’t be nervous,” she chimes, “it’s okay. Just a test.”
She takes out a plastic package and tears it open. She slips out a strip and looks over at you.
“Go on, you need to pee on it,” she hands it over.
“Pee?” You frown and look at the strip. “You think I’m pregnant?”
She laughs, “oh, no, sweetie. This is an ovulation test. It let’s us know when you could get pregnant. We just want to be safe.”
You’re confused. Why would they test you for that? If you’re ovulating, does that mean they won’t bother you?
“Oh, okay,” you take the strip and approach the toilet. You wait but she stays.
“I want to make sure you do it right,” she insists. “Go on.”
You don’t argue. You’re too embarrassed. You pull your skirt up and slip down your panties. You sit and reach between your legs. Your bladder hurts but you can’t make yourself go.
“Oh, here,” she turns on the sink, “that will help. Just think of a waterfall.”
You close your eyes and focus. You can hear her moving around as you struggle to make yourself pee. She tisks and comes closer to you. You refuse to look. She moves your hand and pours water over you.
“Let me know when you’re going, sweetie.”
The water helps relax you and you squeak as you start to go. She shifts quickly and puts the strip under your stream. The warm urine splashes onto your fingers. She keeps your hand there until you’re done.
She takes the strip away before you can look. She places it on the sink and washes her hands. You wipe and pull up your panties. You near to rinse off as well. You reach for the soap and scrub your hands.
“Oh, sweetie!” She looks at the strip and scoops it up with a wad of toilet paper. “That’s so good!”
She tosses it and hands you a towel. You dry off and she just as quickly drags you out of the room. You stumble after her.
“Am I... ovulating?” You ask dumbly. You don’t even know what difference it would make.
“Don’t worry. It’s good, it’s good.”
She takes you upstairs and you hear splashing in the bathroom, a rectangle of light shining through the door onto the wall. Ann ushers you into your room and closes the door.
“Come on, let’s have some fun before Steve gets here,” she tugs at your shirt.
“Can’t-- can’t we wait?”
“Oh, no sweetie, let’s get you warmed up for him,” she shoves her hands between your legs and you stagger back. “You’re so sweet, aren’t you?”
“Please, I—I'm not ready--”
“You are perfectly ready,” she purrs and pushes you so you land on the bed, “you want me to eat it? I can use my fingers? Or you can play with me?”
She peels off her white blouse. You drag yourself up the bed, mortified. You should be use to it by now but she’s not like Steve. She’s not nice. She’s pushy.
You sit frozen as she strips down. When she approaches, you don’t fight her. She undresses you in turn and puts you on your back. She holds herself over you and pushes her thigh against your cunt. She rocks.
“How’s that?” She breathes, “you’re already wet.”
You wriggle as you lay paralysed, arms at your side, spine rigid. She pulls your legs around her and you hook them over her hips. She reaches down and glides her fingers between your folds.
“Mm, if only I were a man. I’d fuck you so good, baby. I’d break you in fucking half,” she snarls and snaps her teeth at you. “Little slut.”
“Please,” you beg.
“You like fucking my husband? Hm? You like the way he stretches you out and fills you up?” Her last consonant pops. “Hmm, you like being our dirty little toy.”
“Stop,” you push on her shoulders, “I’m scared.”
“You’re not scared. You’re selfish. You’re a broken fucking whore and all you’re good for is this,” she rams her fingers into their limit, “so lay still and take it, pretty bird. Huh,” she rocks her hips against the back of her hand, as if she’s thrusting into you, “take what I give you.”
You close your eyes and let her do it. Your legs fall away from her and you splay helpless before her. She keeps on as her voice rises and peaks. She growls and slows down.
“Mmm, sweetie,” she pulls her fingers free and brushes them up your body. “Taste how fucking dirty you are.”
She shoves her fingers into your mouth and jams them in and out. You gag and cough but she ignores you. She dips her fingers into your throat, scratching you, and holds them there. You feel as if you might suffocate before she tears them away.
She lifts herself and crawls over you. She turns and straddles your head. She smothers you with her cunt and reaches to fondle your tits. She tilts against your face and moans. You drown in her assault.
The door clicks and she hums.
“Baby, she’s ready,” she hums.
“Ready?” Steve’s voice rolls back.
“Oh, yes, she’s very ready,” she snickers. “Mm, yes, baby,” she grabs your chin and sits heavier on you, “drink it up.”
You sense Steve at the foot of the bed, you hear his steps, the rustle of his clothes. You quiver as you’re trapped beneath Ann. He touches your ankles and you flinch.
“Hurry up,” Ann demands, “I want to see you inside her. I want to see you fuck her pussy until she can’t stand it.”
“Ann,” he reproaches as his hands brush up your legs.
“Fuck, I can’t wait for you to fill her up.”
Steve climbs onto the bed, pushing your legs open around him. He feels along your folds and circles your entrance with his thick fingers. He moves to push his tip along your cunt and slips inside slowly. Ann snarls and bucks against your face.
“Mm, almost there, baby, I wanna cum as you fuck her,” she puffs.
He snaps his hips and your body contorts. You reach out blindly, flailing, and he grips your hips to keep you still. He thrusts against and you whine into Ann’s cunt. She grabs your wrists and puts your hands on her thighs. You grasp at her as Steve fucks you.
She leans over you as her voice tinkles in short gulps and gasps. Her hand traces down to your stomach and she moans. You feel her cumming as she soaks your face in her delight.
“That’s it, daddy, you fuck her. Fill her up good.”
You spasm as he hammers into you harder and harder. Ann lifts herself on her knees and leans in to kiss him. He welcomes her as she as good as sits on your chest. They continue to kiss sloppily, noisily, as his hips keep pumping.
“Baby,” she rasps, “I wish it was me,” she babbles, “I wish... I wish I could give you what you want.”
“Mmm, fuck,” Steve growls and yanks her down your body. He pushes her so she’s flat over you, crushing you as her head hangs back next to yours.
He pumps into you as she pushes his fingers into her cunt. She groans and writhes atop you. You shrink down into the mattress as you’re forgotten for their lust.
Your eyes well over and spill out. You close them and turn your head. This isn’t what you want. You hate it and yet you can’t stop it. You have no where else to go. No one else who wants you. Not anyone better than them.
Steve quakes and roars as he cums. He coats your walls as he rocks out his last few strokes and he falls forward over Ann and you. You can’t breathe beneath them.
He slips free and rolls Ann with him as he falls onto his back. She snuggles into him and he reaches over to spread his hand over your stomach. You look down at his touch and shudder.
“Sweetie,” he flutters his hand up to your chin and makes you look at him. “You’re gonna be such a good mommy.”
Your lashes flick and you recoil, “what?”
“Yes, baby,” he pushes his hand under your head and pulls you closer, fingertips digging into your skull. “You’re going to give us the best gift of all. Avery and Harper will be so happy to have a baby sister.”
“Or brother,” Ann adds.
“Mm, yes,” Steve agrees, “and we’ll all be a happy family.”
“I... I...” you stutter and gulp back another wave of tears.
You want Steve. You don’t want Ann and you don’t want a baby. But Steve doesn’t want you. He wants a baby.
None of this is what you dreamed off. It’s all so twisted.
You look down at his hand as he rubs circles into your skin and you sob. You can’t have a baby! You can’t.
It’s not real, it’s not real. None of this is real. No, no, it can’t be!
You stare at ceiling and the walls close in around you. The gray creeps into your vision and fills your veins. The panic relents and the terror dulls. You don’t want to feel. You don’t want to be. You just want to close your eyes and disappear.

I had a conversation the other day, with a person who seemed to have some respect for me, but couldn't understand why I'm still having trauma symptoms, and can't be normal already. I took it as a chance to try and explain my symptoms, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears;  I was told I just needed to tell myself that 'I am a new person now', and forget about the past. The person then explained to me how they weren't always the same person either, and they would sometimes cringe at their behaviour in the past, but then they would be proud of themselves for being smarter and more reasonable today. I couldn't quite explain to them that my situation was not the same.
They gave me various suggestions like 'just don't think about these things anymore', and 'these people are not going to hurt you anymore', which I strongly doubted was true. I tried to explain that I am not purposefully thinking about it; in fact, I was doing everything to avoid it. But with intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, nightmares, and the symptoms of the dissociative disorder, I had no control over it, the past was at my throat, holding me and unwilling to let go. I could tell that they still believed I was doing it on purpose, holding on and refusing to stop living in the past.
I very rarely get a chance to talk to someone about anything trauma related, so I was originally grateful that anyone was even showing an interest at 'attempting to help me', but later when I thought about the entire thing, I got pissed off.
Firstly it doesn't make any sense for me to be 'normal', in any timeline, regardless of how much time has passed. You can't have a person living first few decades of their life in belief that their life is worthless, in environment where they're getting locked up, beaten, humiliated, tortured, threatened with death, brainwashed to believe they're not human, severely neglected, and without any kind of genuine caretaker or a parent. And then leave it to this person to 'deal with it alone', never getting any help, never even getting reassured that what happened to them was wrong. That is complete abandonment by human society, and I find it sick and twisted that this person should be expected to adhere and integrate into society afterwards, for what? This person will logically feel betrayed, untrusting, bitter, feral and unnacepting the society's standards, especially their standards for victim blaming and ignoring abuse. Society continually fails these people expects them to 'fix themselves' so nobody would feel uncomfortable about it.
Secondly why is it up to me to change as a person? I am not like this because 'I was not a good enough person', I am not the one who needs changing. I am good as I am. It's worse that after being failed in every aspect, I am now being seen as the one in 'the need of change', for not acting normal and being haunted by my past. I am not hurting anybody! I am the only one suffering from this. God forbid my reality leaves someone uncomfortable, I better try to hide it better. Which I actually do unless sometimes is actively asking me about it.
And the last bit of my anger is about making it seem like the actual problem is 'me holding onto the past', and not my life being severely different and harmful in a way that isolates me from other people. I don't have the same formative experiences other people had. I don't remember being cooed at and hugged, I don't have endless experiences of being taught that I'm important, that someone will care and intervene when I'm in pain, that the figures of mother and father are safe, warm, comforting and reliable. That childhoods are a positive and fun part of life. That families work as an environment for children to be raised on. I don't have the experiences that formed all other beliefs that this culture holds, I hold nothing sacred that is sacred to everyone else, I don't believe in the authorities, I don't believe in family, I don't rejoice with holidays, I don't want children, I don't trust religion, I feel contempt towards capitalism, I don't relate or connect to people who are receptive to any of it.
And it turns out I'm right to feel as I do. Because people in this society will actively come to me asking me to 'stop being like that', while never asking any abuser to 'stop being like that'. Victims who make them uncomfortable can be spoken down to, should be told to stop being traumatized, even in private, while the abusers just need to be 'ignored' and 'hopefully they stop doing it'. What a great plan. Surely it will fix everything.
Humane thing to do would be to approach me with awareness that I've been treated like a worthless creature and address it and allow me to act genuine about it. If I'm still feeling betrayed, abandoned and outcast from society, I should be able to express that. I deserve to react with genuine responses rather than this insane preformance art I have to do every single day to make sure nobody else is aware or uncomfortable by my peril.

A Discussion On "Factkin"
Before reading any of this post, please be aware that I will be using the psychological terms correctly. For example, when i describe delusional behaviour it is NOT an insult, it is used correctly in the way a psychiatrist or doctor would. Nothing in this post it attacking any one individual, nor is it meant to bully. I am ONLY educating. <3
First and foremost, what IS factkin?
Factkin is a term that means an individual who identifies as a non-fictional, real human being. These “identities” are rooted in real-life individuals who exist in the shared reality, whether this person is currently alive or deceased. The people they claim to identify as are typically historical or famous in nature.
Factkin has been a known term in the community for as long as I have been in it. Most older generations like myself have come across the label at least once in our time here, and it is commonly known to come from individuals who mocked the alterhuman community (aka trolls or haters).
Why would someone be factkin?
As children develop into the adults they will one day become, their environment has a big impact on their personality. Their brains will unconsciously pick up traits from the people they grow up with, like their parents, friends, siblings and other family members, even the individuals they see on television! There will be many phases in their lives that will be influenced by all these different people. This can impact their behaviour, interests, beliefs, styles, speech patterns (like dialect or accent), and so much more. The majority of those traits they pick up though will fade away with time.
The traits that DO stay, may eventually become part of their base identity once they reach the end of their mental development. But even then they can still pick up more traits from those around them in adulthood.
So where am i going with this? Well, some kids may confuse this type of development for identifying as the other person.
I will use celebrities for example, since that is the typical source for a “factkin identity”.
We are all exposed to many famous celebrities, either from our favourite movies, television shows, or the music we listen to. They are all over the media we see around us. And people, especially minors who are in their developmental stages and are experimenting with their identities, will see all these amazing and influential people everywhere. They may want to be like them, or want to actually BE them. Then, whether it is consciously or unconsciously done, they will pick up traits from that celebrity.
Someone who isn't endlessly exposed to social media wouldn't think much of it, but if you're uneducated and come across the term “factkin”, they might think that’s what they are, rather than someone who idolizes another human being.
Other reasons may have to do with unhealthy coping strategies or psychotic/delusional symptoms that are left unchecked. Trauma and mental health can have a big impact on someone’s identity development. Underlying issues can cause confusion between a real mental illness and the belief that one is someone entirely different than who they really are.
It may also be an obsession with a figure that has gone a tad bit too far, and has some behavioural issues tied to it similar to addiction. In the sense that someone is so unhealthily dependent on the famous person, that they cannot tell that they are NOT the person they are obsessed with.
To put it simply, someone will never actually be factkin, it is just normal or abnormal developmental stages in life that has been confused with the term factkin, a delusional/psychotic disorder/experience, unhealthy coping mechanisms, an unchecked obsession, or confusion with one’s identity.
Idols
Having an idol is fairly common. The majority of us have had one in our lives. Sometimes our idol happens to be our mother or father. Sometimes its a singer, an actor or some other famous individual. An idol, by definition, is a person that is greatly admired, loved and revered. Idols are often figures that individuals hope to one day become. Although not in the literal sense like factkin claim to be. Rather, people want to become similar to their idol. That itself is healthy and doesn't normally have any negative impact, as long as the person still understands individuality (that nobody is perfectly like one another, and that they still have to be themselves.)
This is another possible factor in the confusion that self-claimed factkin may have with their own identity.
Past Lives
A past life is a fairly common concept for alterhumans. Many believe their identity to be caused by a past life they had as said being/animal they still currently identify as. Factkin have also been known to claim that they have a past life as some famous or historical figure. That alone isn't too harmful, as long as they don’t go around expecting people to treat them like that figure.
If you have a past life as a human being, can you still identify as that individual? Well, yes I guess. But does it make you factkin? No. As i stated above, factkin doesn't fit in the alterhuman community. It doesnt warrant its own term.
People who claim the factkin label have more commonly identified as currently living people anyhow, so there is no excuse for such a thing.
Grandiose Delusion
There are many different kinds of delusional disorders that I have studied, and when it comes to factkin, the one that especially comes to mind is the Grandiose delusion, or delusion of grandeur. This delusion is characterized by an individual who believes that they are someone other than who they are, such as a supernatural figure (like a god), or a famous individual (historical or currently alive). Does that sound familiar?
I came across this type of delusion during my studies years ago, and most cases of Grandiose Delusion that I have read about, have similarities to factkin and the people who identify as religious gods (like loki, anubis, jesus, etc).
The thing with delusions is that the people who experience this psychological symptom or disorder cant control it, nor are they always aware of it. So it poses many issues when trying to explain the truth to them. Telling them that they are not beyonce or justin bieber, and that they are actually John Doe who lives in Ohio, wont always go through to them.
Again, factkin is NOT a thing, but grandiose delusion is. Doesn't mean they can spread misinformation, that behaviour cant be enabled. But they also shouldn't be outright attacked, as again, they cant control their delusional behaviour. The best way we can approach someone with this psychological issue is by educating and encouraging them to seek professional help, and then educating the community without mentioning the individuals with the delusion.
Why is factkin problematic?
Unlike Otherkin or Therians who identify as species, factkin identify as specific individuals (living or deceased). Identifying as a species poses no harm to anyone. But there are lots of issues that come up when you identify as a specific person who exists. You are claiming to be this person, which surpass so many boundaries. This action is a violation of their privacy and their sense of self. It is okay to get inspiration from someone, but to claim to BE them is a whole other ordeal. Even going as far as mimicking/copying their personality is inappropriate on many levels. Nobody consents to such outrageous claims and behaviours.
Famous people get it a lot, I have seen it time and time again. Some even get surgeries to look like some celebrities they so strongly admire. I have even read some articles of young famous actors and singers whose mental health suffered when they heard of obsessed fans trying to become them. It crosses a line.
In addition, when it comes to celebrities, what you see on social media is rarely the whole truth, if it is even true at all. How could you even claim to be them when what you know is very likely just another facade they put on for the world to see? It’s unrealistic, truly. Both in a spiritual AND a psychological sense.
Impersonation, Identity Theft, Catfishing & Factkin
When debating the term factkin, the argument that is often brought up is identity theft. So let’s start with the definition for this: Identity theft (or fraud) is what happens when someone takes someone else’s name and personal information, and uses it without your permission to do whatever they like with it. This here is illegal, and you can be arrested or fined.
With this in mind, are “factkin” committing identity theft? Nope. Identity theft is a bit more than simply identifying as someone other than yourself.
What about catfishing?
Catfishing is the act of luring or pursuing someone into a relationship while pretending to be someone you arnt. Does this fit factkin? Well, no, BUT it can easily be something someone who is “factkin” can commit if they claim to be someone else other than theirselves.
What about impersonation?
Impersonation refers to the act of pretending to be someone you arnt. It can be assuming the identity of someone online, someone’s family member or imitating a public figure. Regardless of who is being impersonated, this act can have SERIOUS consequences for individuals and society as a whole. Impersonation doesnt always include criminal acts like identity theft or catfishing, but it can still have devastating affects on everyone involved, especially the person they are impersonating or identifying as.
I think this one fits the bill.
While someone who claims to be factkin may not confess to impersonation, claiming to identify as someone else still follows the same narrative. Someone who identifies as another person is claiming to be that person. Identity isn't cosplay, it is YOU. WHO YOU ARE. Therefore if you identify as Queen Elizabeth or Harry Styles, you are telling us that YOU are those people.
That very much sounds like impersonation to me.
NOTE – The major difference between Grandiose Delusion (or DMS) and impersonation is that impersonation is deliberate and intentional and conscious. The latter is an illness one does not choose to have.
My experience with having my identity taken
Many years ago I had my first experience with having my identity taken. Someone I didnt know (but knew my friends) took my name, my photos, whatever personal information they knew of me and my life, and they started identifying as me. I wasnt aware of it for months, until my friends found out about it. Then I was made aware of how far they had gone with this action. Not only did they pose as me, but they catfished other people using MY information and photos. One of the people they catfished was in love with me, and it absolutely shattered them. It was a whole messy situation that I wont get into here. But it had long lasting consequences on ME, my friends, and that girl who was manipulated.
The next time it happened was pretty similar, but it was a stranger that time.
On top of that I had people who were taking my very dear and personal experiences as their own, which isn't the same, but after what i dealt with, it definitely didnt make me feel any safer. I went off instagram from a while afterwards.
How it negatively impacts the identified person
The people who get used as someone else’s identity tend to get the worst of the negative impact. We feel incredibly unsafe, violated, and paranoid that other people out there will turn up and identify as us. They will steal our face and our name and our lives, and claim it as theirs. Read that again, see how crazy that sounds.
This isn't a laughing matter, its not a game. That is why I take factkin seriously. It is NOT appropriate. And it causes so much harm when you try to normalize this immoral behaviour. Using someone as your identity is NOT OKAY. It never will be.
Celebrities and historical figures are no different. Dead or alive, they deserve the same respect. To treat them any different would be to dehumanize them. Just because someone is famous, is a public figure or has a large following, doesnt mean you can identify AS them. Their privacy is already taken advantage of as it is, and they deal with enough impersonation already. Just look at some well known people in our own community! They have people create false accounts with their names, their faces, their posts, their information.
It breaks our trust in the world. It leaves us feeling like we have to watch our backs. It makes us uncomfortable. (US as in the people whose identities have been used and taken).
It’s ridiculous to want to normalize this toxic and disgusting behaviour.
How to deal with factkin?
Depending on the situation, there are different ways to deal with factkin. Firstly, attacking an individual using the label will never solve the situation. If you want to confront them, the best you can do is ask questions and encourage them to understand what they are doing by using that label. Educate them. If they confess to delusional thinking, encourage them to seek professional help. If they become defensive, I recommend leaving and blocking them, its not YOUR problem. Next, you can spread proper information about factkin and why it isn't an acceptable term.
Some kids may confuse factkin and connection. It’s okay to relate to other people, we all do it. But it doesnt have anything to do with factkin or the definition of the term. Sometimes all they need is someone to help them understand that. Not every person is well informed on terminology and education in the community. They might be unaware and need a hand to guide them. Dont always assume the worst of them.
To put it simply, don't attack, ask questions/don't assume, educate, encourage them to get help (if delusional), move on.
Conclusion
This post is already as long as it needs to be, I hope i was able to cover all the bases. If you have anything to add, let me know, I can make another part to this discussion. If you have questions, I will gladly answer them.
I hope that the message is delivered well. My intention is not to judge or hurt anybody, I am a lot more open-minded than some people may assume of me. I genuinely care about everyone, but not everything should be normalized or accepted in society or in this community.
I GET that they believe the “identity” is involuntary the same way otherkin/therian identities are, but it is still an innappropriate identity (same as god identities and those of cultural or religious beings.) My biggest issue isn't what they believe, but the fact they think its okay to normalize something like it and to inform people on it like its an innocent and harmless behaviour. The goal of this post is especially to spread the message that its NOT acceptable nor should it be normalized in the alterhuman community.
If you think this post is about anyone in particular, I assure you it isn't. Dont comment names or accounts of people who use the term “factkin” either (ill delete them). Especially if they are minors. This wont benefit anybody. I just want to educate. It has been something I’ve been meaning to discuss for a while, since the term factkin has existed longer than I have been in the community. Its nothing new.
Thank you for reading and I wish everyone a good day, sincerely.

We Saved Each Other (Part Eight)

Summary: you undergo an assessment for a learning disability and your mom helps you come to terms with the result
Word Count: 1.8k
Pairings: (Mom!Natasha x Kid!Reader) (Clint x Kid!Reader)
Warnings/content: Autism assessment/diagnosis (written from my personal experiences and research)
————
Today, a S.H.I.E.L.D professional is making their final assessment in wether or not you have a learning disability. Melissa had been following you for a few days now, watching your behaviour and assessing your ‘personality’. You were still a little confused as to why she was with you, Natasha had tried to explain but your little brain just couldn’t quite understand. Melissa had told you that it was important you just remained yourself and acted however you usually would, but you were a trained spy, you’d been taught to lie and manipulate, your little brain definitely knew that much. You had your guard up when you first met her but Natasha stayed with you the whole time and soon enough you were somewhat comfortable with Melissa. So far, Melissa had assessed you while playing with your toys and outside, she’d observed your interaction with the team and the Barton children and yesterday she had a meeting with Natasha to discuss your circumstances, something your mom found incredibly difficult. Usually an assessor would use any available documents to aid their diagnosis however there wasn’t much documentation on you. All you had were adoption papers and a birth certificate provided by Fury.
Today you were due to have a test with Melissa, and you were not happy about it all. “Sweetie I promise it’s nothing scary, it’s just to help you like we talked about remember?” Natasha said as she cradled you in her arms. You had hardly slept last night and now you were overtired and overstimulated “don’t wanna” you fussed “baby I know but this is so important, it means that mommy can take care of you properly and help you when you’re feeling different things, things that other people don’t feel” Nat cooed. “No!” You whined “it’s all gonna be okay y/n I promise” Natasha said “I just wanna be normal mommy” you cried. “Oh my sweet girl just because your brain works differently doesn’t mean you’re not normal, truth be told baby there is no such thing as normal” Natasha cooed “but why does my brain work different mommy?” You asked through your tears. “Y/n sometimes there aren’t any answers” Nat said softly “things just happen in our life’s and we can’t always explain why. I know this is scary but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, if you do have a learning disorder that doesn’t make you any less amazing, I promise” she said as she gently brushed her fingers through your hair. “So do you think you can be a brave girl and see Melissa for your test?” Your mom asked. You wiped away your fallen tears as you sat up to look at Natasha “yes mommy, I think so” you whimpered.
You met with Melissa at the agreed time, Natasha glued by your side. Your mom knew you would have to go in alone with Melissa but she wanted you to know that you were safe. “Shall we get started y/n?” Melissa asked, you shook your head and hurried your face into Natasha’s hip. “Come on sweetie you can do it” your mom said as she crouched down to be eye level with you “you remember what we talked about? I know you’re nervous but I promise it’s all gonna be ok” Natasha cooed, urging you to follow Melissa through the open door. “M’kay” you muffled as you sceptically stepped towards the room. “Why don’t we get a snack first y/n?” Melissa asked, trying to calm your nerves “I’ve got some fruit roll ups, you like those don’t you?” She said. “Yes please” you said, taking a seat at the small table. Natasha took a deep breath when the door was closed, she wanted nothing more than to hold your hand through this but she knew you had to be assessed without her in order to get a correct diagnosis. Your mom had agreed with Melissa that she would be able to monitor you over the security footage, given your past Melissa understood why Natasha was scared to let you out of her side. The redhead had informed the assessor of your upbringing and as a S.H.I.E.L.D member she was permitted to have limited knowledge of the red room.
Natasha had asked Pepper to cook your favourite meal while she watched the security cameras, wanting you to have a comfort meal after your stressful day. You seemed reserved in yourself in the meeting but answered all of Melissa’s as best you could. She was great at distracting you and keeping you entertained as to not overwhelm you. The hour went by smoothly as Natasha was waiting with open arms when you came out of the room “hey baby girl, oh I’m so proud of you” she said as she scooped you up onto her hip. “She did so well Natasha” Melissa smiled “I’ll go over all the information I’ve collected today and I should have a confirmed diagnosis for you in a few days” she said. “Thank you Melissa” Natasha said. You waved goodbye to the assessor and cuddled closely into your mom “my brave little spider” she cooed “do you wanna have some dinner, Pepper’s made your favourite” Nat said. “Waffle fries?” You quietly asked “waffle fries indeed baby” your mom said as she headed towards the kitchen.
~~~~~
Natasha waited patiently over the next few days, checking her phone every few minutes in hopes of the call. She hid her anxiety from you through the sleepless nights that you had failed to settle. You had been much more secluded since your test, only wanting to be with your mommy. It took a couple of days to bring our your bubbly personality again and even then Natasha knew that you weren’t quite yourself. You were currently playing with your cousins in the common room, the Barton’s had come for a visit after Lila demanded she needed to see you and her auntie Nat. You and your mom had been staying at S.H.I.E.L.D HQ while you waited for your assessment results.
“Natasha?” Maria called around the door, entering the room “Melissa’s here” she said. Nat felt the anxiety rise in her chest as she rose to her feet “Clint could you watch y/n for me?” She asked “of course” he said. “Sweetie I’ll be back in a few minutes okay” Natasha said to you “ok mommy” you replied unfazed and happily continuing your drawing. Your mom met Melissa in a private meeting room to discuss your assessment. “Uncle Clint” you said as you climbed into his lap “yes little bug?” he asked. “Is Melissa here to talk with mommy about me?” You innocently asked. “Well yes she is” Clint explained “but not in a bad way, she’s here to help you remember? Are you nervous?” Your uncle asked, you nodded shyly as you leaned into Clint. “That’s okay bug” Clint cooed holding you tightly.
You stayed cuddled with Clint until Natasha came back into the room “hey sweetie, do you wanna go and get some strawberry juice?” She asked as she scooped you up into her arms. “Yes please” you politely said. Nat carried you through the hallway towards the kitchen where she prepared your strawberry juice in your specific strawberry juice bottle. It was imperative that your drinks and snacks where placed in the corrected cups and bowls, otherwise you would never eat or drink it. “Thank you mama” you said before taking a sip of your juice “you’re welcome baby” Natasha said “listen y/n, mommy needs to talk to you about your assessment okay? Do you think we could go and sit and talk?” Your mom asked. “Did I do bad in the test mommy?” You frowned “no baby girl of course not it’s just Melissa came to give me the results today so I wanted to tell you about it” Natasha cooed as she gently brushed your hair away from your face. “M’kay” you mumbled behind your juice bottle.
“Alright detka” Natasha said as she sat down on the bed with you “so do you understand why Melissa came to see us?” She asked. “I think so” you said “well she came to see if you might have a learning disability, which means that sometimes things can feel different for you. You remember when we talked about it?” Nat said, you nodded intensely remembering the conversation with your mom. “So Melissa found out that you have something called autism” Natasha said, cutting to the chase “it’s a type of learning disorder that means people can struggle to communicate and learn the same way as other people” your mom explained as best she could to your small brain “you know how sometimes you get upset at loud noises and bright lights?” She asked, you nodded along “well that’s because you’re autistic” Nat said. “Is that bad mommy? Do I need to be fixed?” You sadly asked.
Natasha’s heart broke, years of your father and then Dreykov’s words had convinced your small brain that you were a problem that needed to fixed. “No baby it’s not a bad thing at all” your mom said as she softly ran her fingers along the bridge of your nose. “There is nothing wrong with you y/n, you don’t need to be fixed because you are perfect just as you are. Having autism doesn’t make you any less perfect but it does mean that somethings might be a little more difficult. But y/n I promise you it’ll be okay, we’ll figure out what you need and mommy will be here for you always” Natasha said. “What will help me mama?” You asked “well we can get you some special toys to keep you calm when you feel nervous or anxious and we can make you a little safe space at home with no noises and keep it nice and dark. Everyone who has autism will struggle with different things so we’ll have to find out along the way what you need” Nat explained.
You looked up at the redhead, admiring her bright green eyes “are you still gonna be my mommy? Even though I have autism” you mumbled sadly. “Oh baby of course!” Natasha beamed as she picked you up and placed you in her lap “I’m always gonna be your mommy, no matter what, I love you so much y/n” she cooed “I love you too mama” you smiled. Natasha tightened her grip around your small frame and you tucked your face into her neck. You were still a bit unsure about what was going on but you knew that no matter what Natasha was going to be there. The road ahead was a long one and there were so many unknown things approaching but now you had an entire family behind you. Clint, Laura, Maria, Lila, Cooper and of course your mommy. There was a time you had no one and nothing but now you had everything you had ever dreamed of. Autism or no autism, you were going to be okay.
i think abt the mums who gave up, or never got, the careers they dreamed of for a variety of reasons: whether it be illness, mental and/or physical, keeping them at home, or family (parents, children, spouses) that need to be cared for... the mums struggling financially that can't work part or full time outside the home, the mums trying their best to make things work
i think abt the mums who spend most of their time working outside of the home and don't want to: the mums that feel like they're missing out, or that they're failing their children
i see a lotta discussions abt rich white women doin the whole tradwife thing and romanticising shit and whatnot but personally i think a lot more abt the mums who dont get to choose whether they stay home or not
its honestly crazy how much open hostility is encouraged toward ppl who admit to currently having eating disorders and how much of that hostility is very specifically from ppl who identify as having had one in the past. like it's perceived as a diagnosis of retrospection. if you cop to current behaviours without first performing 10 hours of self flagellation and public health disclaimers about them then you're cringe and endangering the children
