Maybe you have a cold distant f/o, or maybe one who was traumatized, forced to be strong due to their circumstances for whatever reason. Now, imagine allowing them to be soft. Letting them show their emotions, treating them delicately, giving them some gentle affection, and just spoiling them. It takes them a while to get used to it, but they love it so much. They love that they can feel vulnerable and sensitive around you, and that it won't be punished. Sometimes they don't always want to be strong, and they feel safer around you for treating them so preciously.

prefacing by saying: every situation is unique. this is not a blanket statement

so I have dealt with the suicide of a friend, and it really seemed like it was just something he had made his mind about. he had lots of friends, a good home, loving parents with a close relationship. and he still died. and in response some people who knew him said they felt guilt, like they should have done more. and this is natural, this is just grief. but at the same time, I think its worth mentioning, that people don’t respect the decisions of the suicidal. its a reaction that is ultimately selfish (in a morally neutral sense of the word, not a character judgement). But people don’t see it that way! they see it as selfless martyrdom, they center themselves in the projected feelings of the deceased, thinking of all the ways they could have been a hero.

Maybe it just isn’t about you, or what you could have done. maybe he just didn’t like being alive, and you can be glad to know you were at least a bit of light in his life anyway.

kim's "you have more to give than you think anyone can take" is so interesting actually. because like, surface level it's like "huh. does eddie think that?" because yeah, he's a romantic. he has so much love caged inside of his chest. but in each of his relationships the issue has been that he wasn't able to give enough. not because they couldn't handle it but because he couldn't. like, there is a very distinct pattern in all of eddie's romantic relationships that he wasn't able to give enough. even with shannon, especially with shannon actually. she didn't cause the pattern, she was the first in the pattern. so it stands to reason that eddie's more to give than he thinks anyone could take is something else entirely, then. it stands to reason that it's more than anyone could take (including himself, in fact probably he is at the top of that list of anyone) because what he has to give is not something he has ever allowed himself to name because it's too big, too much. which, well. it's queer, right? it makes the most sense. eddie's more to give is queer love. like, season seven firmly established that eddie has all of this catholic guilt tangled up inside of him, and it's also been established in the past that from a very young age there was this expectation (from his father, particularly) to be a man. which obviously he has internalised. it's not simply that he has so much love to give that he thinks nobody can handle it. it's that on some subconscious level (at least at the moment) he knows that it's WHO THAT LOVE IS FOR i.e. not a woman, i.e. BUCK, that he thinks no one (himself, his family, the catholic church) can handle.
