The Birds & The Bees: Menagerie Beehive 2025!

Welcome everyone to the first ever Birds & Bees week for the MLB x DC crossover fandom run by yours truly!

The Birds are a predominant part of the fandom, and we all know that the Cat and Bug are too. However, there is a special little group that has been gaining attention lately and we would like to give it a proper spotlight!

The whole goal of the week is to create for Chloe, Zoe, or Karen Beecher (most will know as Bumblebee)! They are our main buzz.

Creators are free to go ahead and submit pieces early if they would like. This can also be used after the event as well.

Feel free to do any ship, even if they are not part of our main buzz. Try to keep one of the themed characters as a follicle point in the piece though! (It is a bee focused event after all.)

Please use the tags listed on Tumblr and any Ao3 pieces can be submitted to both Maribat Birds & Bees and Maribat Birds & Bees 2025! Tag the Menagerie as well to get your pieces reblogged!

i need to shut up to my friends about this so im putting it here. i loved transformers one i promise. it was SO SO SO GOOD and it was SUCH a treat and it feels so special to me specifically because of how it takes from the aligned continuity which i grew up with alongside g1 which i also grew up with and absolutely wanted to see again. and they did it so perfectly until they got to bumblebee. i just don't get it ToT

EVERY single character design is ripped straight from g1, classic designs meticulously brought back and worked with to make them fit the context of a pre-war cybertron. except MY guy. except bumblebee. WHY!!!!!!! why not small?? why not square ???? why not helmet head??? WHY NOT HORNS!!???? and the character designer wrote about wanting him to be recognizable???? but they took away every distinguishing feature except him being yellow????? i can let the personality altering slide tbh, being the goofy comic relief character may be unusual for him but it's not too much of a warp of his g1 personality. especially when everyone is a little different for obvious story reasons. i just cannot wrap my head around any of the design choices. most of his features come from his live action designs. and it's not even that i hate it it's just like an "oh ok :/" kind of thing. i can't help thinking about how much more i would have adored the movie if he looked as close to his classic 1984 self as every other character did. like why is he being left out!! where's the love for my little square :(

hello welcome to buggy square!

we have homosexual tension between a bratty rich blonde with social skills issues and a stubborn clumsy kind pigtailed blue haired girl.

we also have resident red clad hero who can't stop giving treats to her rival because she's 'doing good at being nice' and graceful flirty fangirl.

on the other corner we have talkative arrogant slightly airheaded bee themed superhero who has a thing for girls with a balcony and treats awaiting and an amused not clumsy but bold sarcastic baker girl who humbles bee hero affectionately.

lastly, the red clad leader hero with a selflessness as tall as her denial and a complex gray with parental issues bee hero bonding over their similarities to be better people versus their civilian selves.
