Becca Blackwell's "Me, Myself, and Schmerm" made me laugh and cry and examine some of my trans assumptions. They are sexy and funny and radically vulnerable and this show is headed to the west coast so go and see it. They are performing at @heathr show #yarn and I know Heather is excited about that. Becca has long been one of my favorite performers in New York. I remember seeing them and their partner Erin @newmuseum like 5 years ago, the kids were little, and telling Felix and Vera "These are two of the best performers in New York!" I just saw a run thru, no tech, and it was great. I wish @mckenziewark3000 had been with me. We will go again when the show is @joespub next year, I hope. It's the kind of show that I once did and it made me a little jealous, so maybe I will make this kindof work again. Becca makes the personal universal. They show us the moment when the click happens and a person hardens their heart, they show us so many variations of vaginas, they show us desire and softness and the universal pain of being misunderstood. Plus we get some learning about baby men and masculinity and the bathroom issues that the government wants to take over. The opening joke is amazing and a schmerm is "a schmear of gender." I can wait to see it again. #gender #sexuality #soloshow #memyselfandschmerm #beccablackwell #feminism #theatre #performance #performanceart #love @theirishhorse

This Non-Binary Actor Will Play Anybody to Seduce You (NewNowNext)
"I don’t think of myself as a spokesperson for anything. I’m just Becca, who has a lot of opinions and a voice to share them. We live in a world where people like me are invisible, but I’m a f*cking narcissist who wants to be seen and heard."
In an exclusive interview, Becca Blackwell of Hurricane Diane sat down with NewNowNext to discuss their career, gender expression, and queer representation on stage.

In Conversation: Becca Blackwell of ‘Hurricane Diane’ (The Broadway Blog)
Tumblr media
"...honestly, up until a few years ago there weren’t any roles for people like me, so I’ve always made my own work — I think by sheer personality and talent and sticking in the business long enough. This business takes a lot of chutzpah, even for a gorgeous white straight cis person, it isn’t easy... So I say to people that you just have to prepare yourself. You’re making a choice to be an actor or an artist: it’s not something you deserve, nor is it something you should take for granted."
Becca Blackwell of Hurricane Diane sat down with The Broadway Blog for an in-depth conversation about their career as an actor, gender in relation to Dionysis and the gods, and the lack of butch lesbian representation on stage.

The In-Person Experience: Is This a Room/Dana H. on Broadway By Ross Two very true stories are being played out in rep at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway, each from wildly different perspectives and opposing alternative pathways. Their backgrounds register, as the similarities are striking and complex, making their differing packagings obvious yet surreal. They both find their own unique…
