Pain has always been a familiar feeling to Barbara Gordon. Growing up in a city that has death hiding behind every corner and underneath every bridge it is hard to escape. It was easy to slip into the role of Batgirl as the pain was already an old friend.

While weapons did not bounce off of her skin, and she still bruised, more than a normal person actually, it was easier to ignore the pain. To keep on going flinging herself towards danger to protect her city. Even as her body aches something special settling deep into the bones.

A gun shot is not the pain that Barbara Gordon was used to. A bullet ripping it's path through her muscle was a new type of pain. It brought even more pain with it, and a new relationship with the world along with it.

Pain can be chronic it turns out, lasting so long that you grow used to it loving within your body. And see the aches and pains as nothing odd, don't notice when there is something wrong. Until you are forced too.
