#Beatrice Makes A Shambles Of Life Again

The water cascaded round her, slowly bumping against her still body. Sometimes she moved, other times, she merely bobbed with the pressure, motioning her body this way, then that. The water, still scalding, was a tranquil comfort to her otherwise tumultuous thoughts, swirling, motioning, pinning her down, pushing her off, keeping her from a normal, happy, cheerful routine.
As the doors quietly pushed open, Lindir flopped papers of parchment, and other dainty paraphernalia down on the sideboard.
Coming inside, noticing the sounds of still splashing water coming from the bath chamber, Lindir walked closer and gave an innocent peek. “Still in the bath Beatrice?,” he calmly asked, wondering. “Mmm Hmm.,” she gave back, with a lack of enthusiasm. And she puddled closer to the tubs’ edge. Just in case. As Lindir walked closer, he saw the tips of her elbows raised above and over the edge of the spacious tub, playing with the tiny puddles on the flooring. “It is late in the day Beatrice. How long have you been in here?” Looking up, with a twinge of guilt, “I don’t know.,” she softly replied, and resumed.
He stooped down, careful not to slip on the droplets he saw, brushed the long train of his robe from his footing. “Come out.,” he begged. “And I’ll plait your hair.” He gave Beatrice a sweet smile, as he brushed the wetness from her face. A nasty thought crossed Beatrice’s mind. “Come in and..stay awhile.,” she begged in return, her mouth not lifting up completely. His lips curved upward. Still playful, he thought. That is good. Such sweetness, he thought, such candor. Why is she still in this bath, he considered. What beleaguers her? So sad today. And he thought, momentarily thought, if I comply, step into this tub with her, it will ultimately turn to sex, which I can tell she doesn’t want at this moment.
Instead, “I am late. I must return to Elrond.,” and seeing her downcast face, eyes, “We will have more time later.,” Lindir suggested. “A proper amount of time. I want my time with you.” And standing, Lindir offered Beatrice a hand up. “Shall I fix your hair, or have someone come assist you?” That question broached no rebuttal. “Have someone come.,” Beatrice replied. “You go. You’re late.” And she stepped out, wrapping herself in a large, gray towel. Giving Beatrice a soft kiss on the check, thinking twice, gave her another, wavered on the small swat on the behind. Dipped his head with a tight smile, turned to go. Looking back, confirming Beatrice drying off, Lindir returned down the corridor.
She had taken the blueberries off the sheet, unwrapped, cut a few slices of cheese, set some onto her plate. Thinking twice, Beatrice decided on a different plate and set the original one on the kitchen counter. Reaching, stretching up, her fingertips just minutely grazing the plate’s edge, Beatrice brought it successfully down. And absentmindedly brushed against the one on the counter, where it flipped, tipped, fell and cracked against the stone floor. The slow motion of the thing, the act, replayed in her brain as the noise of the ceramic sounded, echoed within the kitchen’s four walls. “Oops.,” Beatrice shyly suggested, watching the berries roll and ricochet against counters, baskets and supplies. The cheese did a grave downward slap against the floor. The cookies broke apart, no salvage there. As all eyes riveted to her form, Beatrice bent and shuffled on her knees, picking up loose articles of food. Now, if it was only for herself, Beatrice would have brushed the pieces of cheese, berries and cookies off, refilled her plate and left. With a heavy heart and sigh, she tossed them in the waste basket. And took less this time.
As she left, “I think it is the new kitchen master.,” one elf whispered to another. “She unnerves Beatrice.,” motioning off to the right. “Do not be daft.,” the other answered. “The kitchen master was on the other side of the hall. She couldn’t possible see Lady Beatrice.” They watched her walk by. “She forgot the cheese.” The elves scrambled to find the cheese wheel, sliced some cheese and fixed a small plate up. “I’ll follow her along. You know Lord Lindir appreciates the gorgonzola.,” the first said, smiling, slicing a thick chunk, laying a few bread sticks aside the platter. “Ah, not as much as the camembert.,” the other elf replied, adding his two cents in.
A small snack later, Beatrice, feeling a small bit better, only in the food department, visited the library. The marble columns, reaching as high as possible, surrounded Beatrice as she slowly shifted along the clean floors. Sounds there were not many echoing down the vast halls. Looking above her, scanning the columns, the ceilings, her surroundings, Beatrice pondered the magnitude of building these huge monuments, the varied natural colors of the rock, the sheer energy of climbing, sculpting, artistically envisioning and banging them into shape. How were these things possible, who had come up with the unique designs and who did the actual manual labor?
As Beatrice was looking above, and pondering these many questions, her footsteps did not watch where they were being placed and one foot stepped back on the hem of her dress. And, “oof!,” Beatrice exclaimed out of her mouth, as her feet slipped, stumbled, her backside hitting the cold floor and her elbows, wrists slammed down, just saving herself. Just as suddenly arms thrust themselves out and grabbed her as her head was about to come into contact with the marble. “Steady.,” he said, helping her right herself, standing again. “You should be more careful Beatrice.,” holding onto her elbows as her breathing slowed. “Floors are not as forgiving as you would believe.”
And she turned and looked up into Erestor’s face. “I was .. just ..looking around. I was not thinking.,” Beatrice explained, trying in vain to shrug the hurt off. Erestor watched her for a moment. “Where were you going?,” he asked, picking the tossed books up from the floor, closing and keeping them safe. “Nowhere.,” Beatrice replied. When words failed them both, “I am just tired.,” Beatrice surrendered. Then as Erestor studied her face, as Beatrice studied the flooring, “Come with me.,” he simply gave her, folding the books under his arm like a big, black wing, and held out his arm, hand, to motion Beatrice beside him. She walked behind in silence.
She didn’t care where she ended up. Didn’t care where they were going, only trailing behind a favored elf was better than falling on a hardened floor. When they arrived at Erestor’s study, he motioned her to sit before the empty fire in the grate. Sitting, studying the locked window casements, the empty fire, the oaken desk, as she sat and studied, and didn’t study, Erestor closed the door. Kneeling before the fire, Erestor pulled kindling, started a fire and settled himself in the chair opposite Beatrice. No words were necessary, no questions asked, no uncomfortable silence issued the room. She sat, he sat. They studied each other, the room, the floor, the moss green upholstery, the window panes and the slowly building fire, until nothing was left said or unsaid.
When her eyes were growing heavy, her breathing even and calm, Beatrice wanted to sleep. A few times she would close her eyes and let herself drift. More than once Beatrice felt her head nod, catch herself and give an intake of breath.
“Have you found me a cat?,” Erestor suddenly asked, not wanting Beatrice to fall asleep in his study for fear of having to carry her to her own. “A cat?,” Beatrice asked. “You want a cat?!,” as her eyes widened in alarm. Erestor, now pleased Beatrice had come out of her mental stupor, “I would have thought you would have found me one by now.,” he mentioned. “I have names.” “Oh.,” Beatrice said. “Okay. I’ll be on the lookout for a cat.” She wasn’t sure if he were serious or just trying his attempt at conversation. “The right type of cat for me.,” continued Erestor. “Not one that is lazy, or overly burdened with fur. I am not in need of one that makes noise. Only a small, shed-less one that will sit and be still.,” he continued. “Oh.,” Beatrice said. Like the other one I found you that destroyed my bed covers with her nails?, Beatrice thought. And frightened my precious cats? And reigned death and doom to all who were living in this glorious abode? And... her thoughts were interrupted.
“Are you feeling better?,” he asked, interrupting her thoughts and plans. Giving Erestor a look, “No.,” Beatrice answered truthfully. “Can you go on our way now?,” he inquired. “Yes.,” she dumped. A moment of silence, “About those appetizers you used to make me?,” he began. “They have not been as forthcoming as they used to.” “Oh.,” replied Beatrice. “Do you want them again?,” she asked. “I..can make you something.,” and she left the offer linger in the air between them. As Erestor stood, it was clear that their ‘meeting’ was at an end, as he ushered Beatrice to the doors. “You can find you way back now?, “ he questioned. “Yes.,” Beatrice agreed, wondering what he would enjoy snacking on.
As Erestor nodded to the door, “I would appreciate a small sampling of a ... ‘cocktail.,” he prompted her, hoping to spark an inspiration. As Beatrice nodded, continuing through the door frame, “And a cat, while you’re at it.,” he added to the mix. Again with the nod, raised eyes and brows, and Beatrice had much to think on. “I will see what I can come up with.,” she left in a bit of a dismayed attitude and design. But Erestor’s words again stopped her for the moment, “Remember Beatrice. Whatever you are thinking on, is it that drastic? In the scheme of life, when everything is finished, will it have truly been that drastic an ordeal to deal with?” And Erestor let her go.
Walking down the halls, the secret corridors, trailing her fingers along the semi cold walls, Beatrice this time watched her feet’s footing. And when she came to the end of her corridor, she saw her own precious elf standing, waiting for her. “All’s well with the world now?,” Lindir asked, taking her elbow in hand. “No.,” Beatrice replied, offering a small smile. “But at least I have a project to work on.,” and Lindir turned her inside their room. And watched with interest as she flung her shoes across the room, into a corner. He said nothing of the tossed shoes, or where they flopped.
As Beatrice turned, not bothering to go after her shoes, she mentioned, “When is cat mating season again? Erestor wants a cat.” And the thought stopped Lindir cold. “A cat?!” Lindir muttered, shock slapping him cold in the face. “I see.” Closing the door behind them, “Well, mating season is all year round. One merely has to look under a bush, and there they are.” He sighed with half hearted enthusiasm. “A cat.”
And Lindir twisted and shook his head in mental agony. “Gah.,” he audibly dumped. “He has already picked names, hasn’t he?” And Lindir decided he too would do his own boot tossing, as they thumped, thumped, next to her own in the corner. “Well, then. There is nothing for it but to find Erestor a cat.” And as Lindir let one business go, he opened his arms to another, “Come here.,” he said of Beatrice, with a soft smile. “You are in need of a hug I think.”

so like, if miranda is possibly kit’s cousin, kit is closer to her cousin in law thursday. the cousin in law who help threw a coup/schism (one miranda was part of) on the island by siding with ishmael which kick of beatrice and bertrand -kit’s friends. the same cousin in law who later eventually left a pregnant miranda.
if gregor is kit’s cousin, kit ‘order; a hit of sorts on family. extended family who may or may not she be close, and an ‘order; she also has no regrets ordering, given gregor was making the schism worse with the medusoid mycelium.
violet can remember jacques’ name and possibly the little snicket lad. since the baudelaire orphans have some vfd training without knowing it, either beatrice and bertrand stayed early on in violet’s childhood before leaving and subconsciously prepare their children for vfd, or phased themselves out of active vfd duties in violet’s childhood because the schism got that bad and consciously prepare their children for vfd. either way kit slowly and never sees them again.
so vfd fire fighting side is growing more into shambles. lemony is on the lam and out of the country. jacques is somewhere in the country but unavailable so he can’t help if he wants to. assuming miranda and gregor are kit’s cousins, kit felt the betrayal of cousins who aren’t loyal to her side of vfd, by deciding to join sides that made the schism worse. other cousins are thinking about leaving/left/give loyalties to please those who ask for what they way. those her age are unavailable like jacques, or are thinking about leaving/retirement/left.
so here comes thursday -who betrayed and left vfd, kit’s pregnant cousin, and kit’s once close friends- coming back from the island to rejoining the organization he left long ago. he is volunteering again, out of his own free will.
kit in different circumstances may have hate thursday for his actions and may have begrudgingly accepted him back. but if kit had to deal with two cousins betraying vfd’s fire fighting side, and friends/family kit slowly and eventually never see again or can’t see regularly due to circumstances, it would make sense kit to think kindly of thursday and become close with him...
because shoot maybe the great struggle kit is talking about is her own life?
#vfd doesn't stand for volunteer fire department#vfd stands for vast family drama#asoue#a series of unfortunate events#kit snicket#miranda caliban#beatrice baudelaire#bertrand baudelaire#gregor anwhistle#thursday#musings#theory#I guess#idk where i'm going with this#i'm tired right now#this is a text post

sugar bowl generation headcanons
Beatrice
short and delicate-looking but actually very strong and Sporty™
knew Olaf since early childhood and often visited his family home. She never liked his parents that much but she was still conflicted and extremely upset when she was tasked with killing them
the girl everyone (with a few exceptions, Olaf first and foremost) wants either to be or to be with
had a penchant for writing very witty and biting epigrams about the people she disliked
the first time she slept with Bertrand was after that very night at the opera. They were both confused and miserable and wanted someone to hold them but neither of them thought themselves a good enough person to deserve someone innocent, someone who doesn't know what they did, to hold them, and then it just... happened. She was still dating Lemony at the time.
Bertrand
had blond hair (Sunny takes after him), wore glasses (I guess it could be said that Klaus takes after him)
mostly worked in the theatre as a stagehand, building sets and props, but occasionally took part in performances too, usually filling in for one actor or another
kept in touch with Theodora after finishing his apprenticeship
used to sing while cooking dinner
the nicest, politest person you'll ever meet but could also obliterate you with a couple of words (usually preferred not to)
didn’t really like Beatrice that much before they started working together on the poison darts mission - thought her to be too pretentious and loud
Lemony
tried growing a moustache as an experiment once and it was Terrible
has always been rather chubby; sometimes it bothers him but only because it means he can't always squeeze through a hole in the fence/a porthole/etc. when in need of escape
used to play the accordion for his friends at the parties
has a quite beautiful singing voice but usually is embarrassed to sing (Beatrice was usually successful at persuading him to do it though)
tried to hate Bertrand at first and failed spectacularly and was mad at himself because of that
since Stain'd-by-the-Sea, has killed in self-defence in a fight a couple of times but has never murdered anyone anymore like he murdered Hangfire
once dreamed of reforming VFD (actual volunteering instead of kidnapping, no more separating children from their families and so on) but by the time of after The End, when the organization is completely in shambles and many volunteers (for example, R) believe that now is the perfect time to rebuild it basically from scratch, he does not want to be part of this anymore - partly because most of the volunteers (except for, again, R, and some other people) now see him as a traitor for exposing so much VFD secrets, and partly because he'd rather spend his time helping his niece find the Baudelaires
rest of the squad under read more because this post got out of control
Jacques
had always been considered attractive by everyone (despite the unibrow)
the "I'm not mad, I'm disappointed" kind of guy
usually the designated driver at parties
learned to drive at the age of, like, ten, but insisted on getting a real driving licence when he got old enough for this. As a result, had a legal licence and a bunch of fake ones for VFD missions
usually carried a small photo camera with him
prior to "recruitment" he befriended Jerome and managed to stay friends with him throughout their lives even though they could not meet as often as they both would've loved to. Had always suspected that Jerome is in love with him; loved him back but knew that being involved with anyone from VFD would be too dangerous for Jerome who, despite many good qualities that Jacques loved about him, was not a fighter at all. Tried to fill the void with various on-and-off relationships with other volunteers, such as Olivia and Frank, but never really got over Jerome
Kit
liked wearing men's clothes and strict/business women's clothes
usually kept her hair in a bun or a ponytail but every time she let it down everyone noticed how beautiful it was
very good at physics and engineering
Lemony didn't know it but she kept in touch with Ellington after their escape from the prisoner wagon. They were always on the verge of romantic relationship but avoided it because E, naturally, did not want to have anything to do with VFD, while K couldn't imagine her life without it
was a heavy smoker but quit after finding out she's expecting
her pregnancy was absolutely unplanned but she decided to keep the baby for a number of reasons, such as that she might not be able to get pregnant later due to her age and that there was actually no time and/or opportunity for her to have an abortion safely
Olaf
had dyslexia (hence problems with spelling but being good at anagrams). Sometimes asked Kit to read him books out loud
his relationship with his parents has never been that great; what devastated him the most was not so much their sudden death (though it was undoubtedly shocking) as the fact that his friends (and, for all their conflicts, he still considered Beatrice his best friend) betrayed him
his propensity for alcohol is partly genetic - his father didn't drink too often, but when he did, he went on long drinking sprees
used to dress like a greaser in his youth - leather jackets, dark sunglasses, all that jazz
sometimes when he (tol) and Beatrice (smol) would stand next to each other, he would put his elbow or his chin on top of her head; it annoyed her extremely
had a crush on Josephine in his early teenage years but she rejected him quite brutally. That old grudge was part of the reason why his plan of getting her out of the way included seducing her
Esme
has never been recruited by VFD - she just befriended Beatrice and Olaf and, being nosy, soon started to find out more and more about VFD. They thought her a potentially useful associate so eventually she became quite closely involved with the organization
her parents were rich, bought her whatever she wanted, and made sure she got a good education but never really cared about her that much or showed her love. In other words, her childhood was very much like Carmelita's
used to shoplift (makeup, jewellery, similar small objects) for fun as a teen
actually really good at math and finances
she wasn't the one who burned down the Baudelaire mansion, and she cried with rage when she found out Beatrice was dead. She wanted revenge and now she couldn't have it - it was almost as if even in death B did everything she could to do her dirty one last time
survived the hotel fire but was arrested a short time after for a variety of crimes she committed together with Olaf. Nevertheless, managed to get acquitted on all charges and became an even more popular celebrity because of the media coverage of her trial. Many years later, already after her death, a Chicago-like musical about her life was staged. It was wildly inaccurate and romanticized her and her relationship with Olaf to no end, but the public loved it. The adult Beatrice Baudelaire II, being a true niece of her uncle, wrote a scorching review of it, but it didn't really alter anyone's opinion.
R
her mother was French Canadian and her father was Black Canadian
doesn't like cigarettes but occasionally smokes her late dad's pipe
her mother was not a member of VFD but still an associate and agreed to let her daughter be taken in return for them aiding her in politics. Because of her mother’s connection to VFD, R was allowed to spend much more time with her family than other young recruits ever had a chance to
she and Lemony were already close friends by the time they both realized they're in love with Beatrice, and they resolved not to let this ruin their friendship. For some time, they both courted B, waiting for her to decide whom she likes best. When B chose L, R felt quite miserable but managed to let go of her feelings as time passed. She never forgot Beatrice, but she's had multiple relationships after her
there was a brief period when her family thought she and Lemony were dating, which they found both awkward and hilarious. They've never felt anything but friendship towards each other. On several occasions they fell asleep in one bed and never found anything weird about it
after the hotel fire and the almost complete collapse of VFD, she is leading the fraction that believes that the organization's ways should be changed (see the last point in hcs about Lemony above)
Monty
used to send his friends postcards from his travels, making sure to code the messages and the return addresses
gave names to each and every animal living under his care. For example, his Virginian Wolfsnake was called Mrs. Dalloway
had his iconic snaketache (snake moustache) since he was like 19
loved gestures of platonic affection but was always careful not to kiss or hug people who do not like being touched
was the reason many VFD gents realized they weren’t straight (”ok, it’s Monty, everyone is lowkey crushing on Monty... wait, he’s a guy tho”)
has killed more than once and aided in even more murders by providing poisons to his associates. Wasn’t proud of it and often wondered if there was another way. Actually carried a lot of sadness inside him but always tried to mask it with jokes and persuade himself to be optimistic
Josephine
good at boxing, fencing, swimming, arm wrestling... like, Beatrice was Sporty™, but Josephine was the Sportiest™
also good at dances like boogie-woogie and swing
had a wonderful infectious laughter :’)
to ask her out, Ike sent her a letter with some mistakes, she started correcting them automatically and realized that the wrong letters formed the phrase “I like you”. She found it clever and cute, and went on a date with him
I feel like I’ve seen this idea somewhere before but I can’t recall where... anyway... she was more interested in descriptive grammar and the development of language before losing Ike but then started to concentrate on prescriptive grammar because she subconsciously sought something stable and predictable in her shattered life
Widdershins
claims that Melville is his favourite writer but hasn’t actually read anything by him apart from Moby-Dick. His associates quickly found it out by dropping references to Billy Budd, Bartleby, the Scrivener, and other Melville’s works
there was a time when he kept borrowing money from his friends (usually small sums to buy cigarettes or beer or something) and returning it months later or never at all. It became a subject for many inside jokes within his friend circle. Is this point inspired by Netflix? Yes, it is
I blame this post for giving me the headcanon that he and Monty had a short-lived but passionate affair in their youth, which they both recalled fondly later
survived the Great Unknown but was badly wounded (including losing his leg... yeah, I’m sneaking in another Moby-Dick reference, why the hell not). That and the fear of running into the Great Unknown once more prevented him from ever going to sea again. He found it difficult to adapt to life on land, feeling himself useless without his submarine, took up drinking and would’ve become an alcoholic it wasn’t for his stepchildren and Hector controlling him
Hector
he’s the H on the Anwhistle branch of the family tree in TUA, but not an Anwhistle by blood. His parents were family friends who died when he was a baby, and the Anwhistle parents adopted him
his parents were Mexican, and he tried to reconnect with his heritage by researching traditions and culture and literature. All the Mexican dishes he cooks he learned to cook by himself
apart from hot air balloons, can fly and work with dirigibles and other aerostats
witnessed many terrible things, including gruesome deaths of several associates, and begged the higher-ranking firefighters to transfer him to some quieter position. They could see clearly that he wasn’t fit for dangerous tasks anymore, and he got relocated to the Village of Fowl Devotees. As the organization became increasingly scattered, whatever he was supposed to be in charge with was forgotten, and so was he
after TVV he keeps seeing Jacques in his nightmares, dying again and again and reminding how H failed him and the Baudelaires
part of my headcanon about him, the Quagmires, and the Widdershins sticking together after surviving the Great Unknown is H and W having a relationship that’s like 50% “why you. Out of all my associates I’m left with you and I never even really liked you, WHY” and 50% doing household chores together in comfortable silence. At some point they start referring to the triplets, Fiona, and Fernald collectively as “our children” and neither remembers who started it
Olivia
had two sisters - M(iranda) and N; by the time of TCC hasn’t seen either of them in years
loved wearing lots of jewellery - big dangly earrings, bracelets, rings
owned a Tarot card pack that belonged to her grandmother
good at engineering and working with various machines
she and Jacques had sex a number of times and she would’ve loved for it to turn into a more serious relationship but she knew that deep down he loved someone else
The Denouements
Frank was born first, then Ernest, and Dewey was the last
D faked his death when he was about 16 because the VFD higher-ups ordered the Denouements to make sure the firestarters believed there were only two of them now. He volunteered, knowing that his brothers were better at running the hotel and working with people, a decision he came to regret later
D fell in love with Kit when she was still dating Olaf. They didn’t become a couple until a year or two before the events of ASOUE
F was Jacques’s another occasional bedfellow. In contrast to Olivia, he never showed how much he really cared about J (and he cared much more than he would’ve preferred to)
E met Fernald a number of times before ASOUE and often flirted with him in a way of “if you’re up for it, I’m in”. He pitied the young man because he knew Olaf would hardly ever return Fernald’s feelings
both F and E liked D more than each other and had a “I wish you were dead instead” moment after his death. After losing their hotel to the fire, they wanted to go their separate ways but soon understood they still need each other. They moved to a European country called Zubrovka to work in the famous hotel there
The Sebalds
Gustav was 2-3 years older than Sally
when they were kids, they used to write plays and put them on at the family gatherings using their toys and handmade sets. One of such gatherings was visited by a distant relative who was in VFD. Some days later, they were “recruited”
all of Gustav’s films are incredibly low-budget and fastly made and all his friends have starred in at least one of them because it usually went like... Headquarters: we need a film with this and that secret message to be shown at this and that cinema in five days. Gustav, mass texting his friends: guys who’s free this weekend, I have another movie to make
Gustav and Monty were dating
Sally dated R at some point (Monty introduced her to R)
after The End Sally, like R, is one of those volunteers who advocate for reforming the organization and dropping its old ways

THE TEN GIRLS YOU DATE BANG IN COLLEGE
~ *~ a list of wanted connections/exes for jemma sterling ~*~
an ooc note from leigh: this list of connections is just a list. there are some i thought would fit off the top of my head, there are some that i left open to interpretation, and there are some that i’ve discussed/plotted out. if you’re interested in one of these (or tbh, if you want your character added to the actual softball team that is jemma’s love life) then pls hit me up xoxo
THE PRINCESS: NICOLA DE ROCHA
These two were basically doomed from the start. Jemma’s never quite managed to get over the grip that Nicola held on her. The two became roommates after a series of incidents at NYU, and everything with Jemma and Nicola were great. They had plenty in common, they worked well together. Jemma even got along with the majority of Nicola’s friends, most of whom will also end up this list because oops. When Spencer Porter, another of Jemma and Nicola’s mutual friends, broke Nicola’s heart, Jemma swooped in to do what she does best: rebound and take advantage of someone with a broken heart to get her rocks off.
What wasn’t in the cards, though, was Jemma falling for Nicola-- and falling hard. To this day, Jemma doesn’t know why. What resulted was a fall out like none other-- in her pettiness, Jemma moved out. Things are still a little weird for them, but only a little.
THE ARTIST/MUSICIAN: open
TBD
THE JOCK: REGGIE CLIFTON
Know what’s fun? Hot girls with soccer bods. Know what’s even more fun? When they’re on the opposing team. Am I implying that Reggie and Jemma fucked after a soccer game? Never. Yes. Jemma and Reggie have been friends since they both got to New York, and considering they both love a ship with no strings attached, it was only too easy for them to fall into a pattern.
However, when things started getting complicated for both of them with other people, Jemma and Reggie stopped seeing each other in that way and were solely on the Path of Platonic for a solid six months. Now that both of their love lives are in shambles again, it’s only a matter of time before they fall back into old habits.
THE 2 COOL 4 U KID: open
TBD
THE GHOSTER: open
TBD. This person is someone who “dated” Jemma but then dropped off the face of the earth and left her ghosted. Know who doesn’t like it when she doesn’t get attention? Jemma. Know who’s going to be a total brat to this gal? Also Jemma.
THE STAGE FIVE CLINGER: SCOUT SOLANO
After Scout broke up with an ex-girlfriend, she was on the rebound. What did she do? Tinder. Enter Jemma, and we’ve got outselves a messy ship, folks. Once Jemma realized that Scout was in this for something other than casual sex, she noped the fuck out of there. Scout had a hard time getting the memo, and Jemma feels pretty bad about it to this day. They’re both still pretty cool with each other, and it’s not awkward. That’s implying that Jemma can feel awkward. She can’t.
THE DON GIOVANNA: BEATRICE SMITH
Considering Jemma and Bea are both ladies who’d consider themselves well versed in the ways of other ladies, it was only a matter of time before they fell into step with each other. Jemma really likes how Bea was the one who made the first bold move, and while their affair was short, they had a grand time with it. Jemma liked being the person who was sought after for once, and she holds Bea in very high regard because of it. Jemma’s fully aware that Bea is on her way to monogamyland by stalking picture of Bea and Sam on her instagram, but she’s going to try and not hold it against her. Time breaks up all couples.
THE HBIC: open
TBD. Sometimes, and only sometimes, Jemma likes it when someone’s mean to her. But she’d like it way more if this outwardly nasty person was a total softie when it comes to cute blondes who draw you with three boobs.
THE FREAK IN THE SHEETS: EVIE MILLER
Evie just screams “I’m cute, make me yours!!!” to someone like Jemma, which could go one of two ways. Both of these ways don’t end well, mind you, but let’s pretend for a second. Evie is adorable, she can talk comics with Jemma like the best of them. Their friendship started out as something totally sweet and pure and based on cosplaying. They went to conventions together, movie preimeres together, and nerded out together. It was a grand time.
Fast forward to recently, when things have been starting to get a little less platonic between the both of them, initiated by a kiss that Jemma gave her after she scored one of her many goals during the Showers indoor soccer season. Suddenly, Jemma’s looking at Evie in a whole new light, and she’s totally aware of all the kinky roleplaying they could do in the bedroom. It’s only a matter of time.
THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY: ARIA ABRAMS
Stay tuned for agony.

The Walking Dead Season 10 Ending Explained
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This The Walking Dead article contains spoilers for episode 16.
Rarely has there been more pressure on a Walking Dead finale than season 10’s final hour, “A Certain Doom.” Due to the coronavirus pandemic, editing wasn’t able to be finished in time for the episode to air as originally scheduled on April 11, 2020. So fans had to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait some more.
Now “A Certain Doom” has finally had its say and The Walking Dead’s penultimate season was able to conclude as originally intended. And “A Certain Doom” was worth that wait for the most part. This episode successfully wraps up the season and a half long Whisperers arc and sets up what’s to come for the show in its final 30 episodes.
Before those final episodes air, however, it’s going to be another long wait. With that in mind, let’s break down the ending of season 10 and analyze everything that it could mean for the franchise at large.
How Are the Whisperers Defeated?
No disrespect to The Governor and Woodbury or Negan and the Saviors, but Alpha and the Whisperers are certainly the best villains that The Walking Dead has conjured up over its ten-season run. These animalistic creeps who walked among the dead were some of the spookiest and most threatening baddies that Rick, Daryl, Carol, and company have ever had to deal with.
How then were our heroes able to defeat such an imposing threat? With the power of music, of course! The survivors plan to outlast the Whisperer threat and end their imposing horde of walkers once and for all was a relatively simple one. While holed up in their defensive tower, Luke led an effort to cobble together a stereo system rigged to play The Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House” at loud volume. Since walkers are naturally attracted to loud noises, this would lead the herd away from the tower and all the communities housed there, and take the walkers over a cliff. The important thing to remember here is that the Whisperers are relatively small in number and have no “home base” as it were. Their real danger lies in the undead company they keep, and to neutralize the Whisperers one just needs to kill the herd of zombies they walk among.
It’s a simple enough plan indeed but not so simple in execution. To get from the tower to the path to lead the zombies away Daryl, Carol, Beatrice, Luke, Jerry, and Magna have to somehow get through the horde. They do so by deploying the tried and true method of zombie camouflage: covering themselves in guts. This slow shuffle to safety makes up the tensest moments of the episode as our heroes have to avoid walkers and the Whisperers among them. Unfortunately, Oceanside resident Beatrice draws the “finale death” short straw and doesn’t make it through.
Once cleared, the gang is able to draw the walkers very far away from the tower but not all the way to the cliff due to Whisperer treachery. Thankfully, Lydia uses her knowledge of herding to draw the walkers the rest of the way where the immense army amassed by Alpha and Beta fall harmlessly to the valley beyond.
Beta’s Death
Speaking of Beta…he’s dead! We’re sad to see the big lug go but at least he died doing what he loves: having knives driven into his eye sockets while not having sex with Alpha. When it becomes clear that the gang’s only shot at getting the zombies over the cliff is to trust Lydia, Daryl proposes a new strategy to the rest of the group. They are to head back into the horde and pick off the remaining Whisperers one by one.
It’s pretty remarkable at this point in the show that A. there are few enough Whisperers that they can be picked off one by one and B. Team Daryl has grown familiar enough with the dead to identify and take out Whisperers among them. But that’s exactly what the crew is able to achieve, partially thanks to a last minute intervention from Negan. Though Negan surely would have loved to deliver the killing blow to Beta, it’s Daryl who does the honor with his knife-based ocular assault. After one last hallucination, Beta finally dies and is overtaken by the dead, who remove Beta’s mask in the process.
“Shit, you know who that asshole is?” Negan asks Daryl upon seeing Beta’s face.
Negan is referring to the fact that Beta is actually a famous country singer in the world of The Walking Dead.
But Daryl, despite likely being a country fan, is nonplussed by Beta’s identity and replies “nobody.”
It’s a helpful reminder of just how much this world has gone through and how little someone’s identity pre-apocalypse means.
Maggie’s Back!
Daryl, Negan, and company aren’t able to defeat every Whisperer, however, as some have remained back at the tower to attack the remaining survivors inside. Though the Whisperers are small in number and operate most efficiently in shambling herds of zombies, they are able to assault this edifice containing Gabriel, Lydia, and the communities’ non-combatants quite effectively.
Things in fact look pretty bleak for the team as an IED tears apart a room full of soldiers and the Whisperers begin to pore in. Gabriel puts up a decent fight but looks to be a goner….before Maggie comes back! This reveal would have hit quite a bit harder if The Walking Dead hadn’t already released a trailer teasing Lauren Cohan’s return as Hilltop leader and all-around badass Maggie Rhee. But it’s nice to have her back all the same. Not only that, but it’s revealed that Maggie is collaborating with the mysterious individual wearing an iron mask who previously saved Aaron and Alden from a certain doom (hey, that’s the name of the episode!).
In real life, Cohan gets to return to the show after her ambitious, but low-rated spy dramedy Whisky Cavalier wasn’t renewed for a second season at ABC. In the reality of the show, Maggie returns for a very simple, very Maggie reason: her friends needed her. Previously Maggie had been off with a group of traveling society-builders led by Georgie (Jayne Atkinson). We find out early in this episode that the survivors leave little newsletter drops for Maggie to keep up with. The latest news that Maggie received was quite grim: Jesus is dead, Tara is dead, and the communities are threatened yet again. So Maggie returned to save the day.
The Return of Virgil and Connie
Amid all the walker and Whisperer chaos, The Walking Dead finale makes time to check in with one long-lost character. Kelly’s sister Connie wakes up in the woods, covered in soot (from the cave-in and dynamite blast in episode 9 that left her presumed dead). She stumbles onto the dirt road and her path crosses with none other than Virgil.
This is an interesting connection between two characters who have never met before. Connie was originally part of Magna’s group that arrived in Alexandria, and Virgil was a part of his own “community” (re: people he imprisoned) on Bloodsworth Island, Maryland. Virgil was last seen feeding Michonne hallucinogens and resigning himself to die alone on his island. Something, however, encouraged him to take off in search of other people. And it looks like he finally found someone.
This encounter calls into question quite a bit of the timeframe of the back half of season 10. It’s been days if not weeks since the explosion at the mining cave. Connie really couldn’t have been unconscious all this time as that’s quite bad for the brain, you see. So perhaps Virgil’s sojourn with Michonne happened a lot quicker than previously realized.
What’s to Come
A crucial part of any Walking Dead finale is setting up what’s to come in the next season. Given that The Walking Dead season 11 will be the final one for the show, this season 10 finale shoulders an extra burden in that regard. Thankfully it rises to the occasion with an enigmatic final scene featuring Eugene’s West Virginia travel group.
Eugene, Yumiko, Ezekiel, and Princess make it to the trainyard that is set to serve as the meeting point for Eugene and his radio friend Stephanie’s community. Eugene and company are late and Stephanie is not there. But the newly hopeful Eugene decides to look on the brighter side of things and assures himself that she’ll turn up again sometime soon.
Right at that moment floodlights kick on and a group of highly organized soldiers in pristine white armor surround the group and command that they drop their weapons. Are these people part of Stephanie’s community? The short answer is almost certainly yes. And if you’d like to know more about them we’d recommend checking out this article on The Commonwealth.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
But for now, trust that with only one season to go, The Walking Dead has now officially introduced a big portion of the original comics endgame. These final 30 episodes should be a wild ride.
