In 1967 John Lennon bought an island here on Ireland's west coast in Clew Bay, County Mayo.
He intended to retire and live on the island, Dorinish, also known locally as Beatle Island.
The small, low, hilly islands are drumlins, formed as ice moved across the landscape. Extending out from the Irish mainland these in the bay were flooded by the Atlantic.

Marianne Faithfull remembered Paul's reaction to the idea:
John wanted them all to live together on an island. I remember him talking about it, saying, 'What has to happen is that all of us, the Beatles ...' and of course for Paul this was a nightmare, the last thing Paul wanted to do was live on some fucking island, whether it was in Ireland or Greece, wherever it was, with John, George and Ringo and their wives and their roadies, and Mal and Neil, all on an island. This was John's vision and they all had to do this. And of course Paul was, 'Yeechhhhhh.' There were going to be a few other people, like John Dunbar. But it was just awful for Paul and I remember him talking about this and saying, 'Well, I guess they'll never get it together.' Paul was really much more sophisticated than John ever was.
Marianne Faithfull, Many Years From Now
It's unclear to me how explicit Paul was with Marianne here. Because in his present-day telling, he's a bit more blasé:
There was some story of buying a Greek island or something. It was all so sort of abstract but the first thing we had to do is go to Greece and see if we even liked it out there. The idea was get an island where you can just do what you want, a sort of hippie commune where nobody'd interfere with your lifestyle. I suppose the main motivation for that would probably be no one could stop you smoking. Drugs was probably the main reason for getting some island, and then all the other community things that were around then - 'Oh, we'll paint together. We'll do this. I'll chop wood.'
I think that if you're going to write a great symphony or you're going to rehearse the greatest string quartet in the world, it's fair enough to cut yourself off. It's just a practical matter; give yourself lots of time and if you're going to do that, then why shouldn't it be in Greece? It was a drug-induced ambition, we'd just be sitting around: 'Wouldn't it be great? The lapping water, sunshine, we'd be playing. We'd get a studio there. Well, it's possible these days with mobiles and ...' We had lots of ideas like that. The whole Apple enterprise was the result of those ideas.
...
PAUL: We went on the boat and sat around and took acid. It was good fun being with everyone, with nippier moments. For me the pace was a bit wearing. I probably could have done with some straight windows occasionally, I'd have enjoyed it a bit more.
So did he think it was a good idea? Did he go along because he knew John wanted it and the best way to get around things John wanted that he didn't was to wait him out? Did Marianne hear him grumble,or did she just infer, and if she could, why couldn't the rest of them?
'It's a good job we didn't do it,' Paul said, 'because anyone who tried those ideas realised eventually there would always be arguments, there would always be who has to do the washing-up and whose turn it is to clean out the latrines. I don't think any of us were thinking of that.'

When I think I'm so strong and nothing can ever hurt me, much less any old stuff, which happened long before I was born, I suddenly play this little song (actually, 3 in 1) and hear Paul and John singing between Two Of Us' takes, Do I love you? Oh, my, do I? Honey, deed I do?
And John comments, Yes, I do it, Paul
Playing the fool as usual

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Adam22, Felice Allesandri, Clem Burke, Dale Carnegie, Billy Connolly, Denise Crosby, Candy Darling, Howard Duff, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Colin Hanks, the great American composer Scott Joplin, producer-songwriter Terry Lewis, Stanley Livingston, Lee Michaels, Charles Theodore Pachebel, Elvis Ramone, Dave Sinclair (Caravan, Hatfield & the North), Baruch Spinoza, Staind, Chad Taylor (Live), keyboardist Richard Tee, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Robin Williamson (Incredible String Band), Teddy Wilson, Jim Yester (The Association), and Pete Best, the original drummer for The Beatles. That’s him on the Decca audition tapes and other early recordings. Deep Beatlemaniacs know that, in 1962, Best was replaced by Ringo Starr, which led to the classic line-up of the Fab Four. That episode is shrouded in urban legend, including rumors that Best was sacked because he was a bigger “chick magnet” than Paul McCartney. The true reason was more prosaic—Ringo had more experienced chops. It was an emotionally-wrenching career move for both Best and the other Beatles as they’d grown up together in Liverpool.
Best retired from drumming in the late 60s and became a civil servant. Then the 1995 Beatles ANTHOLOGY restored him to the public eye. At the behest of family, fans, and friends, Best formed a band and hit the road. In 2005 I was playing keyboards for The Davy Jones Band at a music festival in Newport, Rhode Island, and The Pete Best Band opened with a raw, rowdy rave up show, replicating the Beatles Cavern Club rock’n’roll set from the early 60s. It was a blast to watch! I lost my photo of Pete and I at the catering tent, but in this video I’m watching sidestage w/family members. HB Pete and God bless your rock’n’roll heart!

Lauren Laverne: What's your next choice, and why are you taking it with you today?
Kate Moss: Oooh, My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. I was shopping with Anita Pallenberg and Marianne Faithfull, and we were buying last-minute Christmas presents.
I went, "Oh my god, is that George Harrison?"
And he came out of the shop and said, "Is it you?"
And I said, "What?"
And he went, "When I'm not watching Formula 1, I watch Fashion TV. Are you Kate...Moss?"
And I went, "Yeah, I am. Are you George Harrison?"
And he went, "Yeah!"
And I was like, "Oh My God!"
He said, "Come in, come in. I want to buy you a Christmas present."
And he wanted -- he tried to buy me this -- well, I wish I'd let him buy it for me, but I just couldn't let him because it was so disgusting, this jumper.
[laughter]
But it would've been like my jumper from George Harrison --
Laverne: A Christmas jumper, Kate! Sometimes taste has to go out the window.
Moss: I know! But it was cable knit! Bat-wing, cable knit, pink sweater, and I was like, "Please I can't let you buy that for me." But I loved him so much, and My Sweet Lord was released the week he died. And I couldn't stop crying. I cried -- I was sobbing. I thought, "What's wrong with me?" I mean it's upsetting but I could not stop crying. And I found out I was pregnant, with Lila, so that's my song with her and for George.
-- Desert Island Discs (Aug. 2022)

Note
We need a character who has been a TD fan since childhood and would always "train" to join the next season (they were 10 and their "training" was just them playing on a monkey bars or eating some weird things like sand). They also always try to find a refference to past seasons
