I love the dynamic between Kamilah and Lily + MC. She’s this ancient, awesome, powerful as fuck vampire and they’re just a couple of idiots sharing the same brain cell. And she’s so sick of their shit like when they fed her a flamin’ hot cheeto and made her play Guitar Rockstar and she’s so exasperated like “not this fucking shit please…” but you just know she loves her two dumbasses. It’s honestly one of my favorite dynamics in the whole app.

i love kamilah and lily's dynamic, it's so much fun to watch and no matter what kamilah says we all know she's super endeared by lily and her enthusiasm for the world.

Okay so while I absolutely fucking hate Lily dying and am crushed by it (I know Jax can die too but talking about Lily specifically), I have to appreciate the THG parallel, with Lily being the main reason MC truly became a part of the vampire world and got to intertwined in it. It began with saving Lily something that had been more important to MC than anything and she had had been desperate to do anything to save her. Things after that became so turbulent and MC had been time and time again been forced into situations and had little choice but she always had Lily and knew it was worth it for having saved Lily. For Lily to die, it's poetic in its cruelty (Don't get me wrong I still don't like the fact she could die, even though it does make sense for someone to die, and I would've hated it even more if she was the only one who could've died, and I think that it would've been a genuinely shit plot point. I also don't like that the choice was only between Jax and Lily)

Though PB could've also gone another way with this. It would've been so iconic and make so much sense if MC's main LI died, paralleling Rheya and Demetrius. I'd absolutely despise it but like imagine. We'd also have been able to feel, as the reader, some of Rheya and MC's anguish at having the person you love more than anyone else die, and understand their rage to a larger extent. But of course that wouldn't have boded well with the audience so PB didn't take that route.

My Mc and the Bloodbound characters as anime characters. Couldn't for the life of me get a darker skin tone filters for Kamilah, Lily, Priya, Jax and Rheya. And some of thier names and Surnames changed too bc of this filter.

Yay, I love this take! Bless you for putting in the work to make canon make sense thematically. There is a strong theme of collateral damage and I can definitely see how Lily, and to a lesser extent Jax, align with that. We see Lily forced into vampirism while Jax is a leader to all the people who have been oppressed by the larger system. Kamilah and Adrian, regardless of how they entered the vampire world, are firmly involved in the power structure and complicit in the system now.

The Iola/Lily connection seems strongest to me, as they were loved ones from Rheya/MC's previous, human lives. I almost wonder if they originally just had Lily dying, then went "Wait, we can't just kill off 1 of 4 LIs!" so they put in Jax as a backup. But I think Jax dies if you're romancing Kamilah or Adrian, so who knows. As much as I love being emotionally devastated, I do appreciate that they left my MC's partner (Jax) alive for her.

I just have to add on the topic of how the book ends, (I'm so sad I don't have an exact screenshot of it) but I still joke that the game is in no place to tell me that choosing to reject my love and embrace darkness to become a goddess of blood and destruction is a 'bad ending.' Although, thematically, I recognize it absolutely is.

(I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of Bloodbound that I do of some other games *coughBladescough* so feel free to nicely correct me!)

I’d honestly be really interested in your theory on why it was only Jax or Lily who could die. I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a possibly that any of the LIs could die and not just those two.

the most likely answer really is either 1) writer/fan favoritism with the LIs, or 2) lack of resources to make four additional death CGs. leaning more with the first one lol

the theory i've got is more thematic but also has a lot of holes in it. it makes me feel like this lmao

it first starts with the assumption that rheya's descent into madness mirrors mc's own, which was triggered by the death of iola and jax/lily respectively. following that, we can then also assume that iola and jax/lily are meant to parallel each other.

rheya refused to integrate iola into the power system she created as queen; she in part also wanted to protect iola from the dangers of the system she knew she was in. additionally, iola was taken away from her family by people who wanted to destroy the reigning system.

you can somewhat draw similarities with jax and lily's stories - jax was protected by takeshi who refused to let him go to japan lest he be killed by the the five, the reigning power in japan. there are inconsistencies with jax's story but you can safely say that him turning into a vampire eventually led him to dissent against a hegemon - the clan system (depends on which you take as canon, b1 says that he was turned by a clanless vampire who wanted to overthrow the clans, while in b3 takeshi insinuates that fighting for the clanless was jax's idea). while with lily, she was turned after jameson attacked her in hopes that it would further gaius' plan to usurp clan authority. the theme of "protection" also comes forward with mc and adrian defying the pact to keep her safe.

there's also the fact that it's rheya's child that dies, and you could argue some bit that jax and lily are "children," being much younger than adrian and kamilah, and takeshi canonically loving jax like a son. but this one is extremely faulty because rheya (and gaius) call everyone from their bloodline their children lmao.

i think what's most important is the idea that jax and lily were never active players in systematic, hegemonic oppression within the vampire world, much like iola. if you romance kamilah in bb3, she specifically mentions only rheya, gaius, adrian, and herself as people who let their pain turn them into monsters, and perpetuated harm as a result of it. no mention of jax or lily. i don't have a better word for it but they're like, innocent collateral casualties in the larger scheme of the power struggle. if that makes sense.

This time, we have held the event around National Video Game Day, which is on July 8th. Lily is a gamer and pop-culture enthusiast, and her multiple references to numerous video games brightens up the whole story!

Our second theme for Day 1 is Character Appreciation, and as the title suggests - anything goes! You can tell us your favourite moments featuring Lily, explore what makes her tick as a character, present headcanons about the things BB leaves unexplored about her.

Any and all content is welcome during this week - fanfic, fanart, headcanons, meta, edits, moodboards, interactive media, even screenshots of your favourite Lily scenes!! Our only requirement is that the pieces should focus on Lily and present a positive depiction of her. WIPs and Throwback pieces are also more than welcome!

You can send pieces during any day of the week (not necessarily just the day of the theme) but do specify which day you meant the piece for!! We will keep a bonus week open for any pending entries too. Our rough deadline for entries will be July 21st. You can still send entries after the date and it will still be put up in the masterlist - this date is mostly for us to make the thank you video! Otherwise we will be open for entries until the next event, which means we will accept entries all year!!
