1) of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?Hmm… probably all my colors? Like, there’s a lot I’d like to go back and change, but at the end of the day it was my baby for a good two plus years and there’s a lot of personal stuff sprinkled in there. It kinda shows my emotional progression throughout high school in the story, and while that’s def not why I wrote it, it’s cool to go back and look at it sometimes to see the things I used to say/think about. Plus it’s one of the only massive projects of mine that I’ve actually completed, lol.

Also I have a lot of love for amc just bc it’s so… different, I guess? Like, I’ve never really seen something like it fleshed out into a full-length story, especially not with silver and blaze. And the fact that it rlly touched several ppl and got them rlly into it… that makes me feel kinda accomplished when I’m not being a self-deprecating prick lmao. I rlly rlly wanted it to be my first fic to get to 100 reviews for a reason!

2) favorite tense (past/present/future)Definitely past, I tried present with the unforgiven and it just made it frustrating to write, lmao.

3) favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)I prefer writing in first person, actually. I think it simplifies things for both the writer and reader, and I’ve always found a lot more freedom to be creative when I write in first person.

4) what are some themes you love writing about?Lmao well, obviously romance is priority one for me, so most of my themes stem from that. I rlly love writing about class struggle tho, whether it’s someone low who’s aiming high or a noble who isn’t satisfied with such a high class. Morality also comes up a lot in my writing, I guess; tryna figure out what the right thing to do is, tryna figure out if this character actually did the best thing, all that good stuff!

5) what inspires you to write?Definitely music… sometimes I’ll stray from it and pick up some inspo from movies/stories/etc, but 99% of the time I’ll be listening to a song and suddenly come up w a fic idea from it lmao.

6) thoughts on critiqueI encourage it!! bc I think it’s the only real way to improve. Sometimes it can make me feel bad if I’m in one of those rlly shitty self-deprecation ruts, but still I usually get over it soon even when I’m like that. I know it’s for the better, and I appreciate everyone who’s ever been kind enough, and cared enough abt my writing to give me critique!

7) create a character on the spot…. NOW!UMMMM OKIE,,, what abt a snow leopard named Kyra… she likes to sit around n read n eat noodles… her main hobby other than reading is dancing. she’s v shy but she loves her close friends n BAM I just made her gay. She’s a lesbian, harold.

8) is there a character you love writing for the most? the least? why?Most - probably silver… his personality is always one I’ve gotten a lot of joy out of writing. He’s basically a walking contradiction, lmfao. He’s also pretty easy for me to self-project onto, idk why. Least - I’m gonna say amy for this one, just because it’s been hard for me to focus on more than one aspect of her personality and flesh all of it out. Plus amy is a somewhat overused character lol, I get a lot more fun out of writing blaze/tikal/others when I need a female role, even if it’s something simple

It was nearly a fortnight before any word was received from King Pyrus. It came in the form of a small parcel addressed to Blaze, which held a note inside for her. The young princess jumped at the feet of the servant who had brought it in, and once it was lowered into her hands, she hurried to her chamber. Once there, she closed the door behind her and jumped on her bed, unable to contain her excitement. With a careful claw and an eager expression, she tore the parcel’s paper away. Before looking at what it contained, she snatched the note from her father, and brought it to her face. It read:

My Little Flame,

I am sorry I could not write to you sooner. I remain busy, but I finally began exploring, and I found something I think you will simply adore. It is a traditional robe (I believe it is called a kimono) from here in the Eastern Isles. It is just as beautiful as the land, and just as special as you are to I, my dear. We must make plans to bring you here one day, it astounds me each time.

Do not fret about the ongoings in the world, how ever much you have heard. Kiniti watches over us at all times, and she will ensure peace among all kinetics. Hopefully, I will depart in the coming few days, and we will see one another soon.

Blaze, of course, merely skimmed over the second half of the note as a formality. She laid the message aside, and her jaw dropped once she held the kimono out. It was a beautiful shade of dark purple, with an equally enchanting design. Trails of dainty cherry blossoms sat on rugged branches, which climbed up either side of the robe. The silk seemed to melt between Blaze’s fingers; it was the softest material she had ever felt. She rubbed one of the sleeves against her cheek, and purred into it. When she turned the robe over, she gasped. A large, pink bow was already tied at the back, as if it had been made just for her. She slipped the kimono over her shoulders, and although the sleeves hung low over her arms, the length was just right. Blaze tied the pieces of ribbon at her waist, just as Pyrus had taught her, and words could never express how delighted she was with the gift. She could not wait to show her father once he returned.

As Blaze was fitting her tail through the bow on her back, Baxton entered the room. Whenever Pyrus was absent, it was usually Baxton who took up the king’s general duties. He signed letters, addressed the people, attended court; it kept him quite busy. The only responsibility he didn’t inherit was any control of he army - the sole post he would be familiar with. Quite the chore it was, but Baxton was always fond of his temporary sovereign role. At least in terms of the power he held, that is. In fact, Blaze assumed that he had been yelling at some servants not too long ago, judging by his flushed face.

The elder cat scratched his head. “Princess, did the king leave a letter?”

Blaze pointed to the note on her bed. Baxton scurried to it, and frowned as he glanced over the elegant handwriting. “Is this it?” he quizzed.

The princess nodded, and held her arms out with a smile. “Look, Baxi! Look at what father sent me!”

Blaze couldn’t quite tell what Baxton’s expression conveyed, but it was something between a smile and a scowl. The note crumpled in a quick motion from Baxton’s fist, and was thrown back onto the bed cover. Blaze didn’t think much of this as Baxton hurried out, and she walked to her mirror to admire the kimono again.

10) what are your strengths wrt writing?Hmm… I get a lot of ppl saying that I’m pretty eloquent when it comes to phrasing/word choices? I’m constantly tinkering with how things are said, even up until like 30 seconds before I publish smth lmao. I also like to think I never just string sentences together and leave it at that when I’m narrating, I pay a lot of attention to how different sentences/phrases flow together.

11) what are your weaknesses wrt writing?My main weakness would probably be going overboard on all the little things, like how a sentence sounds or flows and stuff like that. I end up being a perfectionist with it, and sometimes when I’m crafting/changing phrases around, I end up with a sentence that kinda drags on or tries to do too much.

12) what’s your favorite place for writing resources?Tumblr’s pretty good for me, actually. I rarely ever seek out resources, but I do reblog a lot of them that come to me here and they’ve been very useful to me in the past.

“The Winter Festival is lots of fun and it’s usually a big drawcard. This year, organizers have cut back on the program somewhat owing to Covid-19, but we’re all hoping that it will return to its usual festive glory once this difficult time is over,” says Ms Hanney.

Moonrise Azalee: Well, to start off with, Miss Munk and Ecko Riven, it’s a pleasure to sit here with the both of you and thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me! Ecko Riven: Thanks for interviewing us. Moonrise Azalee grins absolutely! Now, first things first.. I’d like to ask both of you, how long you have each been in InWorldz for Miss Munk: 4 lovely years Ecko Riven: almost 4 and a half years for me Moonrise Azalee: And if I may ask, how did you hear about InWorldz, or what made you decide to check it out? Ecko Riven: I heard about it through word of mouth, someone mentioned it when I was exploring SL. I had a bad experience in SL and took a break for a while then when I decided to come back I wanted to try someplace different and I remembered what that person had said. Miss Munk: i personally was trying to learn how to build in SL and found it too expensive, and i still do. So i came here to give it a shot and kinda explored all building options. I knew nothing about building – and still dont 8) Moonrise Azalee: hah ! Ecko Riven: I came here to build too and free uploads was an added benefit. Miss Munk: Ecko and I have kinda learned together Moonrise Azalee: What did you each think of InWorldz when you got here? Miss Munk: hard to find things, but people were politer. Ecko Riven: I thought it was great – I remember I was working on building a house and I got help from a mentor – Waco Baxton – and he and Missy helped me out a lot. Moonrise Azalee: And what are you doing with your time here now? I know Fusion is a big thing, and everyone is talking about it ~ and I will ask about that shortly also, but outside of that, what are you keeping busy with? Miss Munk, may we start with you? Miss Munk: well, you know I DJ on the side. I am partners with Ecko in Simple-Reflections which is a combination of our 2 first stores. I usually do structures and simple things. while Ecko makes more intricate items and helps me make mine pretty. We support each other fully in our creations and plan and test most builds together. basically I prefer to stay in the background of our business.

Moonrise Azalee: Is there something you enjoy working on specifically? Any favourite things that you like to work on? Miss Munk: Ecko is much smarter than me anyway so she doesnt mess up as much as Ido Ecko Riven: oh boy Miss Munk: I do like to make buildings. My favorite is our WeShed, and our Gazebos. But I did just make the DJ set which I also enjoy doing. Ecko Riven: Missy is just humble – I tend toward smaller builds and she does larger ones usually. Moonrise Azalee: I do actually LOVE the DJ set, all of them really! They are very well done! Miss Munk: I would like to redo them all. we decided about a year ago that we would only do original mesh from then on out. A year? time flies! Ecko Riven: Well we don’t always do original mesh sometimes we do combine full perm stuff with our original mesh but the bulk of what we do is original now. Miss Munk: We started really learning blender and pushing ourselves with mapping etc. Ecko Riven: Yes that was about a year and a half maybe more now Miss Munk: see , smarter Ecko Riven: And I have two businesses, Simple Reflections with Missy and Ecko’s Reflections which is a full perm store. Ecko Riven: I spend a lot of time on those usually. That’s the bulk of what I do here normally. Moonrise Azalee: Then that sort of sums up what I was going to ask you Ecko – namely, what is it you enjoy doing here. Now that you’ve been here for a while however, how do you find InWorldz to be? Has it changed? Ecko Riven: I think it is at essence very similar to what it was four years ago – a lot of great, friendly people helping one another. Doing this event I’ve gotten to know more people and I’ve found that I’ve enjoyed establishing those relationshps recently.

Moonrise Azalee: I would have to agree, and that brings me to a big focus of my chat here with you both, is the work you are doing to create the creator’s expo coming up. Fusion. What was the spark that fueled that fire? Miss Munk: in Second Life they have expos where people can show what they do in one spot. Problem is it’s too expensive and I don’t really like them because they show a bit of favoritism . So I think we agreed to do something similar but not bias or show favoritism. ANYone could show as long as they created it. We also wanted it to be free so people who don’t have money to throw away could participate equally. It wasn’t about making money for us but to get a group together and easily show some things that INWORLDZ has to offer. We did it on our sim. worried that people would think it was just to get traffic. But the real reason was so that we could offer a higher prim allotment for each guest. Really though we are trying to be completely selfless. and have really considered all our options on the Expo area. Have you seen it ? Moonrise Azalee: I haven’t no. I’m going to pop round right before opening and view it when it is closer to completion (pictures will follow of that, as I DID get to sneak in to see it before it opened) Ecko Riven: Yes I was thinking we should wait until shops have had a chance to set up. Miss Munk: but you will notice that all shops can be seen from the landing point.. for example. No favoritism.

Moonrise Azalee: I think that sounds really amazing and is a fantastic way to approach this. Ecko Riven: We wanted to give everyone more prims so it’s not quite as compact as some SL shopping events like the recent uber for example Miss Munk: Oh,and Ecko added the EXCLUSIVES Ecko Riven: Well I wanted to give consumers a reason to come Miss Munk: I am already seeing places I did not know existed, so its already worked for me. Ecko Riven: We decided to request that every participating merchant have an exclusive never before seen in InWorldz so that it would be more attractive to shoppers. Moonrise Azalee: That is a great way to not only showcase what InWorldz has to offer, but is also a great way to encourage creators to do something collaborative, everyone working on an exclusive Fusion item. I really like that. Miss Munk: yes, what she said

Moonrise Azalee grins ~ Now this is a pretty huge thing you have decided to undertake. Is this something you would consider to do again? Annually perhaps or, more often even? Miss Munk: I think we are waiting to see the results to be honest Moonrise Azalee: That sounds like a sensible approach. Are there any other things you have planned for the future? Projects you’d like to work on? Miss Munk: well we are getting a new animation engine soon – Avsitter has become opensource – so i will be working on more furniture. I think we are going to focus on some indoor furniture Ecko Riven: Zara and Christine Nyn have been working on making it work for InWorldz the last few months. I have been helping them with testing it out. Miss Munk: I usually have a builders block around now. if you look on our building area near us I have few things to finish lol Moonrise Azalee cams out Ecko Riven: Our most recent furniture uses nPose which is also a very good no poseball system and I’ve gotten a lot of help from Howard Baxton, one of its developers. Moonrise Azalee: why yes, you do! Miss Munk: would be fun to make some new tree houses too, don’t know what I’ll do next. Above us are some skyboxes we did, have you seen those? Moonrise Azalee: Yes, and those are the ones I believe are available at your store ~ I admit I am a fan of the creations you have both worked on. Miss Munk: oh thanks Ecko Riven: That’s nice to hear Moonrise Azalee: I was very excited to hear that you were doing this Fusion event. I think that having people like yourselves and the many other residents involved in the continual creation of new things and really, anyone who is taking initiative to be an active member of the community is so very valuable. and so overlooked Ecko Riven: Yes what’s awesome about this event is you get to see a big sampling of many of the very active creators here. Miss Munk: Hopefully it is a great event, re-invigorating. Moonrise Azalee: I really have no doubt that it will be Ecko Riven: I have a lot of things on my list I want to buy at FUSION – some really neat products other creators have come up with. Moonrise Azalee grins ~ I can’t WAIT to go. And I know many others feel the same way! Miss Munk: Ecko is a peeker , I wont peek until its open Moonrise Azalee laughs Ecko Riven: Ha Miss Munk: Ecko is doing all the executive stuff though Ecko Riven: Yeah I have to see what the shops look like Miss Munk: but she still doesn”t have to peek Ecko Riven: I’m doing all the admin stuff Miss Munk: whatev Miss Munk: peeker Moonrise Azalee grins ~ but you know. peeking is like.. part of the job bonus? Miss Munk: it will be like Christmas for me Moonrise Azalee: awww, yes! Ecko Riven: What I have been very pleased with is many of the new relationships I’ve made as a result of helping to organize this event. Some really amazing creators, all great people, are participating. I’ve had nothing but positive interactions with everyone so far. Moonrise Azalee: Well, I tell you, i think this is a great opportunity for creators and non creators alike . I for one can’t wait! I am sure it will be a blast! And I do want to thank you both for meeting with me tonight! It has been a pleasure to get to know you both better. I am really looking forward to the event and looking forward to continued conversations about fantastic things! Anyone heading off towards the Gympie Music Muster in Queensland this August will need to look the part – and it all starts with a rocking pair of cowboy boots. Whether aiming for practical workhorses or all-out fabulosity, Melissa Gibson, co-owner of Australia’s leading country outfitters, Western World Saddlery and Saddleworld Caboolture provides sound advice on how to find and fit the perfect pair.

“Gympie Music Muster is an iconic Australian event,” says Melissa, “where everyone wants to fit in and look the part.” The old faithfuls are coming to the end of their life, but the thought of buying a new pair is daunting: those were circa 1992, after all. Someone else might be dying for a pair, but not confident about how their flat feet would fare in those pointy toes. Never fear, says Melissa, as while there’s no hard and fast rule to choosing a perfect pair of new cowboy boots, considering a few things will make the task of choosing easier.

“Knowing what they will be used for is the key; horseback riding or line dancing. Perhaps they’ll be worn often with a lot of walking. Some people prefer a basic or traditional design, while others want the heels and bling,” she explains. “And they’ll all be on display at this years Gympie Music Muster.”

There’s so much to consider and the competition to look best at The Gympie Music Muster is stiff. The heel and pointiness of the toe is often simply a matter of preference, Melissa says. Should the boots be worn often and for a variety of reasons, one should opt for a lower heel, although for horseback riding, some sort of a heel is required. “Then again, if the boots are to be used exclusively for kicking it up over the weekend, the sky’s the limit,” Melissa grins.

The same applies to decide the height of the shaft. A taller shaft offers more protection at work, although their length is entirely up to the wearer. “The bottom line is that comfort should come first. It’s not worth having the trendiest pair of cowboy boots if your feet are pulverised every time you wear them,” Melissa said.

Here’s how cowboy boots should fit. In a nutshell, like a glove: snug but not tight, with some flexibility. “If they are the proper fit, they will feel like a second skin from the get-go,” Melissa says. “Bring along a pair of the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boots. Also, especially in summer, try them on towards the end of the day as feet and legs tend to swell when it’s hot,” she advises.

Boots could either be tried on sitting down (easier) or by standing up into them. It should take a little effort to push a foot into a boot, but it shouldn’t be forced. There may or may not be a popping sound when the foot seats itself into the footbed. This is an indication of a good fit.

The toes should not be squished and should be able to wiggle. A good way to check for room at the toes is to remove the insole and stand on it. There should be about a thumb’s width clearance at the front of the toes and the heel should be cradled. Also, make sure there is no overspill at the widest point of the foot.

It might sound strange, but it’s normal for the heel to slip about half a centimetre forward at first: more than that and the boot is too big; none at all means it’s too small. Because the boot is new and the sole stiff there is nothing preventing the heel from rising up and down. Once the sole starts to loosen up, most of the slippage will disappear. The instep holds the boots on, so it should not be too loose and the ball of the foot should align with the widest part of the sole.

Melissa recommends trying on a few different pairs and taking a walk around in each. “There is an extensive range of styles and sizes, with very detailed sizing charts, with height and width fittings for men and women. If you have your heart set on a pair of cowboy boots, you shouldn’t be held back by the fear of buying the wrong pair. They should, and could be, the most comfortable shoes you’ve ever owned.”

A Basic Rundown Of Cowboy Boots

The Classic Western – Simply designed and straightforward, classic westerns are your all-round pair of cowboy boots. The shaft will usually be around 30cm long.

The Shortie – An old and shorter variation of the western boot, these became popular because they were lighter, more practical, and less expensive compared to the classic.
